It feels like i wasted my time watching fop:new wish now with dev fucking forgeting everything magical and fairy related and did the series fucking forget the og message of found family and like bonds that what makes a fairy godparent a fairy godparent its not the FUCKING WISHES. THE WISHES DO NOT MATTTER ONLY THE BOND A GODPARENT HAVE WITH THEIR GODCHILD. And i feel like new wish fucking forgot timmy multiples times messed up fairy world accidentally and never took wanda and cosmo away from him because he had a shitty home life and dev still shitty homelife, he is still miserable but now he has no godparent who cares about him after they fucking bonded and then dev forgot about him.

a redraw of this post from [checks date] 7 YEARS AGO? WOW the time has flown. you can really see that 7 year improvement
original post had hero + partner teams, except the gti and psmd team was pokemon i planned to play as, since at that point in time i played neither gti nor psmd
this redraw has the actual teams from the games i did finish, which unfortunately does not include gti. i do have a gti save (with a snivy hero & oshawott partner), but its been kind of just gathering dust. i think the farthest i got was completing gurdurr's story, so im Very early in it. might restart it for a different team tbh
from left to right, their team names are: Team Bright Sky, Team Serenity (actual in-game name was Darkness bc of eod. yes i was still playing on eos and not eod or eot), Team Hyacinth

alright so unrelated pokemon thoughts (watching a pokemon youtube video right now lol) i just adore chespin so much as a gen 6 starter, regardless of how good or competitively viable it is. i remember i initially had my heart set on fennekin but i ended up being so put off by delphox that i went for froakie and chespin instead. froakie's definitely amazing but major soft spot for chespin too! feels like nobody talks about it among the starters.

There a few reason why i want dev to keep peri. One i love peri with all my heart but dude's just been doing wish granting aspect of his job and he hasn't even been doing that, but not THE GODPARENTING aspect of his job which is you the whole point. And peri needs to learn that godparenting isn't just the wishes its about bonding with the kid so the kid can go on a better life path, and so the kid can get parental love they so desperately need and not getting so the fairly godparent steps in.
two; less conflict and so less reckless wishes and hazel been doing better at learning to make more reckless wishes but with a second godparent and godchild things can go off the rails more quickly and the reckless wishes are always alot of fun, and dev can fill in that role in that role really well. Especially the wishes less contradict each other or the wishes bundle up in huge way like two main godkids breeds conflict and like they don't even need to arguing for this two happen both can make a well-intented wishes but they conflict and brings new situations with it.
Three; so the show can bring up the rule of once a godchild turns 18 the fairly godparent will leave or once the godchild will seemed to be satisfied or says "i'm happy and i don't need my godparent anymore" or fact dev can once he bonds with peri, dev won't want let him go and lose all memory of peri ever existing. also the fact we bring up secret wishes again since i don't see hazel making those wishes since she has decent support system and family and once dev loses peri, yeah you can see the conflict in there especially less dev and hazel haven't made up. Also the fact peri knows about this rule since he had to say goodbye to godbrother so, yeah won't want to go though that pain again especially since dev and peri did't have a good relationship at the beginning and now they would and it would be taken away.

i feel as if im going mad so im going to just put this out here. real quick. movieunleashers starters ramble.
i cant stop thinking about how mudkip broke down in that one scene in "Typomaniac," when Chespin called him mean. for a second he lets his mask slip a little bit and to me he just... acts his age. he starts crying and calls chespin mean back. maybe im just hyperfocusing on this one detail but mudkip is about 12 years old.
and that just makes me wonder what happened in this guys life that brought him to where he is now. and it makes it all the more tragic how his whole world revolves around chespin, but he is the one bringing him the most pain. and how young he was when he died.
there is a large theme of growing up in "Rare Candy." the characters ages are emphasized in that particular episode, and one of the main conflicts is fennekin wanting to evolve faster.
the thing about characters in these stories is that they're not allowed to just be kids, to have a childhood. so many bad things happen to them. like. mudkips whole, Everything. fennekin when she was famous in typomaniac, or dealing with her own insecurities/pressure from society about her relationship w chespin. and chespin always having to shoulder his friends problems & always somehow managing to stay positive despite everything.
why cant they just. play video games. eat ice cream or something. go to the movies
at the end of the day, i think both mudkip and fennekin are characters who grew up too fast. by distancing himself from them, chespin refused to follow in their footsteps and just wanted to stay a kid.
good for him.

marcille's pokemon team! i imagine she's acquired a variety of mons over the years but some of them have been with her longer than others, like the dragonite she raised from dratini. azumarill is from before going to magic school. she got braixen as a fennekin for research purposes, and evolved it during the school period. cherrim is the newest of this bunch, caught and evolved during magic school.
(if you’re curious about why i picked certain pokemon for marcille, and names i gave her team members, it’ll be in the readmore!)
BRAIXEN (Ignis): an easy nod to magic school and her wooden staff. i wanted a straight-up fire type since marcille uses a bunch of explosive magic in the dungeon. i went with braixen instead of delphox because it has more of a youthfulness like marcille herself.
CHERRIM (Pom/Pomegranate): i definitely wanted a grass-type to reflect her staff being made of wood (with little green sprout), her green eyes, and her love of vegetables. cherrim having a bit of a food (cherry) element is a nice plus, and like braixen, it has a yellow colour like marcille’s blonde hair. i think marcille would also love cherrim’s cuteness, and its red accents match marcille’s own red accessories. it being flowery also matches marcille’s floral-enjoying aesthetic sensibilities. on top of that, i imagine it switching to its overcast form after marcille becomes the lord of the dungeon to reflect her mental state.
AZUMARILL (Tsunami): i wanted a more whimsical-looking pokemon to show off marcille’s cuteness, and a fairy-type adds to the magical feel. but even if azumarill looks silly and marcille can be silly, they really pack a punch. scarvi raiders will appreciate this beautiful round friend with a nod.
DRAGONITE (Stratus): rather than just have marcille’s team reflect her cuter aspects, it was important for me to include a member with competitive viability (which generally means the mon itself has a bunch of strengths). before i considered that aspect, i thought about including dragonair as a reference to marcille’s coatl monster, but i went with dragonite in the end for a cute-looking friend with a lot of strength. marcille has, after all, studied magic for a long time and is really good at it. It’d certainly make sense for her to have an objectively strong mon like dragonite on her team, especially considering the position dragons have in dunmeshi’s world and culture (and they were once at the top of the food chain in pokemon too...).
not pictured:
ALCREMIE (Nectar): a suggestion from my friend i really liked, partly because it’s food. and that’s obviously funny. a sweet-looking pure fairy-type (red accents too!) ties into marcille’s enjoyment of sweets and adds more of that fairy/magic feel. as for which colour variant hers would be, i’ll leave that up to you guys to decide. and a funny little sidenote: marcille wanted a fairy for herself like the canaries, but was daunted and disgusted by the requirements to create one. the homunculus the fairies start out as looks like a little blob of a guy, and alcremie’s pre-evo milcery is... well.
because of the homunculus stuff, i imagine she hatched Nectar from an egg and evolved it before magic school!
GOURGEIST (Ambrosia): while braixen works as a cute magic school reference to magic, gourgeist has more of a witchy, spooky feel. marcille isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, after all. but since this is her team from the start, gourgeist is a nice way to wink at a darker witch aesthetic compared to her other mons without fully giving away marcille’s eventual transformation. it still has a fitting whimsical design, plus its broomstick likeness can be seen as another nod to ambrosia.
Ambrosia would, of course, have been obtained as a pumpkaboo and raised until evolving in line with marcille's staff creation in dunmeshi
honorary mentions: ponyta/rapidash (for her horse love), milotic (for the quetzalcoatl), rotom (suggested by my friend who likes the mental image of her putting senshi in rotom wash), arboliva (italian), liligant (floral + grass-type), foongus (grass-type, reference to walking mushrooms), deerling (grass-type, cute, a deer is vaguely horselike), morpeko (silly/cute, has a “dark” form like cherrim)
dungeon lord: she would have control over all the mons in the dungeon without them being “hers”, so i didn’t plan for her team to change upon her becoming dungeon lord.

DR PKMN Day 15
Himiko - I was really torned between Sprigatto (magician) and Fennekin (mage). Idk if I made the right choice.
Tenko - When I first saw Tenko, the first thought I had was: Lesbian. The second thought was Mienshao. It's just the vibes.
