It was a lot of work getting his giant crate of a gift and himself into Shizuoka, much less into the Kito family's manor. Yet here he was, standing alone in the spacious tatami room. Yano felt just an ounce of stress lifted from his shoulders now that he had accomplished the first step to his plans. Only an ounce, seeing that he knew this birthday surprise could easily be a big mistake on his part. Putting aside the fact that he was in some strange, unspecified relationship with a yakuza boss, he was growing more worried that the pounding in his chest was not fear, but something much, much worse.

“This is just courtesy. The Shizuoka team always spoils me f-for some reason… I gotta return the favor. Yeah, that's all. Nothing else. Just hand over the present and do my thing-”

“Hey there, Yano.”

The poor man froze in his spot at the utterance of his name. As Yano turned to face the voice, he couldn't help but shrink into himself once he saw the Kito-gumi boss watching him from the door.

“H-Hey Sakura…”

He stood silently, taking in her appearance. But before any of his mixed thoughts could form Yano began to panic as Sakura slowly approached him. Stopping her from doing or saying anything, the artist grabs her arms to keep her at a distance.

“W-Wait! Don't you want to see my present?” Motioning his head to the large wooden crate, he nervously rambled. “I wanted to get it out of the box before you got here but I guess your men were faster… It's nothing bad! Just needed to be packed well so it wouldn't break…”

With some effort and a lot of complaining that he could get it out for her, Yano revealed a new piece he had crafted: A large decorative mirror with a glass frame. Most strikingly, a large blue dragon sparkled along the left side of the amber frame, its mouth open in a silent cry.

Standing off to the side, Yano let her stare at his work. At that moment he used her distraction to his advantage to bumble around with the last part of the gift… Technically, it was just him, but he was putting in the extra effort of offering himself up with a collar and leash set that quickly fastened around his neck. Clearing his throat, he nervously stepped forward with the chain in hand.

“A-And of course… Knowing you don't really care about that stuff, you can have me… Whatever you want. Just for tonight! I-I can't stay here too long, since I have to be at an auction t-tomorrow. I'm doing this stuff since it's convenient you know? Seeing I am in the city for a few days-”

In an instant the end of the leash was snatched up by Sakura, yanking Yano close in a strangled yelp. Staring up at her, he felt the start of fresh tears collect in the corners of his eyes as all he could gasp under her intense gaze was a bewildered, pathetic, “H…H-Happy birthday?”

“Reika you bitch. You fucking knew didn't you?” Sakura thought as she stared down at Yano. She gave the chain another harsh tug as Sakura imagined the smug look on Reika’s face when she learned she was correct. Still, she wasn’t going to waste the gift Yano was offering to her, and well as much as she hated to admit Reika’s gift was going to be very useful at the moment. 

“I hope you know offering yourself to me like this was dangerous Yano but don't worry I’ll be gentle well at least in the beginning.” Sakura purred. Forcing Yano onto his feet Sakura walked out of the room dragging Yano using the chain collar like he was some sort of dog behind her to her personal quarters not at all caring that quite a few of her men were staring at the scene in front of them. 

“Should we…should we worry for Ietsuna?” Lucille questioned somewhat bewildered at the sight in front of her. 

“Lucy I love you dear but the Boss has been needing something like this for a while now.” Hikaru grinned glad that Sakura was going to get some tonight. 

“Agree but come on not even a little bit of sympathy for the man?” 

“I’m only questioning the Boss’ taste in men.” 

“Fengzhui rude.”

“You can't say you aren't thinking the same thing.” 

“Sensitive crybabies Nurarihyon supposes the Boss could do worse.” 

“Don’t ruin this for her you 5.” Shinji scolded from behind them causing all to slightly jump. “She’s trying her best here even if not what most people expect.”

“Do you have an opinion of this Shinji-san?” Irina questioned.

“My opinion of this is that I would like to get grandchildren.”

“SHINJI-SAN??!!”

The Kito-gumi

Descended from a samurai family who lost their status due to the Meiji Restoration, the Kito-gumi are one of Japan's most powerful Yakuza families. Founded over 150 years old, it was not until recently that they rose to their current position. Having begun as nothing more than one of the many families in Shizuoka who fought for control of the area, This all changed one night as the former head was murdered by his illegitimate daughter Sakura, who declared herself head soon after. Many in the group were divided by this. A female? As head? Preposterous. It was then that Sakura decided to prove them wrong.

Sakura, knowing she needed people she could trust, gathered people from all walks of life. From females to foreigners, and even whores it did not matter to Sakura; these people became members of her Council. With each one becoming head of their own branch within the Kito-gumi, each having its own specialty.

1. “The Boss”

Full Name: Sakura Kito 

Age: 28

Position: Head of the Kito-gumi 

Weapon: Beretta 92Fs Inox

Bio: The illegitimate daughter of the former head. Sakura assumed power after killing her father, stepmother, and older brother one night. She is the 13th Head of the Kito-gumi and the first female to hold the title. Sakura took the Kito-gumi from one of the many gangs in Shizuoka to one of the most powerful in Japan.

"I am not my predecessors. I run the Kito my way." - Sakura Kito 

2. “The Second”

Full Name: Shinji Aoki 

Age: 48

Position: Second in Command of the Kito-gumi

Weapon: Electric Cane

Bio: The only member of the Council from the previous generation. Shinji joined the Kito-gumi at the age of 18 back when it was under the rule of Sakura's father, Tsukasa Kito. By the time Sakura was brought into the Kito-gumi, Shinji had already risen to second in command under Tsukasa's rule. Allowing Sakura to shadow him when she was 12 Shinji was the one who showed her how the family works. It was even Shinji who showed Sakura how to fire a gun until she became better than him. 

Shinji due to both his age and an old injury that left him needing a cane prefers to deal with administrative duties letting his younger counterparts be the ones doing the heavy lifting. Sakura and the other members treat him with absolute respect and even view him as a father figure.

3. “The Arms Dealer”

Full Name: Irina Anatolyevna Dragunova

Age: 22 

Position: Head of the Arms Trafficking Branch

Weapon: Twin MAG-7s

Bio: Born in Moscow, Russia, Irina lived a peaceful life until she was 14 when burglars killed her family after a robbery went wrong. Sold to human traffickers, Irina spent the next 2 years in hell up until she ended up in the ports of Shizuoka. Having long since given up on ever being saved, Irina was surprised when, one day, the Kito-gumi busted the traffickers. When Sakura offered to send her back home, Irina declined, stating that she had nothing left for her back home. Deciding to stay with the woman who saved her, Irina joined the Kito-gumi rising through the ranks until she became the Head of the Arms Trafficking Branch. 

Cold as ice Irina is a master at using firearms with few able to match her skills. Despite her short stature and foreign heritage, Irina has proved herself as one of the deadliest members of the Kito-gumi.

4. “The Prostitute”

Full Name: Hikaru Kayama 

Age: 25 

Position: Head of the Prostitution Branch

Weapon: Dual Tessen

Bio: Becoming a prostitute under Maaya Funaki at age 15 to support his younger sister after their parents’ death. However, when he was 17, she was murdered by the boss of a rival gang. Hikaru soon became obsessed with exacting revenge and avenging his sister by any means necessary. He got his chance when he was 20 luring the boss into a compromising position by disguising himself as a woman. Slitting the man's throat so deep that Hikaru nearly decapitated him. Revenge completed Hikaru set the compound on fire, content to die and join his sister in the afterlife. To his surprise, he was rescued by Sakura who was impressed by what he had done and offered him a role in the Kito-gumi, something that he accepted. 

Flirty and a bit raunchy Hikaru uses this as a way to get people's guards down. He is protective of the prostitutes in his care calling them his "flowers" and letting everyone know that if you mess with them you have to deal with him.

5. “The Gambler”

Full Name: Lucille "Lucky Lucy" Takara 

Age: 23 

Position: Head of the Gambling Rings 

Weapon: Steel Throwing Cards and Exploding Dice 

Bio: The daughter of a Japanese father and a British mother Lucille was shocked when they abandoned her and left her with a debt totaling millions of yen. Taking up gambling as a way to quickly pay it off and much to her surprise seemed to have the devil's luck with it. Gaining notoriety as "Lucky Lucy" she quickly began to pay back her debt. Eventually, Lucky Lucy's luck run out when she decided to gamble against Sakura Kito. It’s unknown who won the game or what was wagered but it ended with Lucille joining the Kito-gumi and Sakura paying off the rest of her debt. When asked about what happened all Lucille does is smile and say they both won this game called life. 

Upbeat and charismatic, Lucille gets along great with everyone even her old rival Joey Kurusu of Kanazawa. Their rivalry was legendary throughout the gambling dens. She also considers Dice Arisugawa of Shibuya to be one of her favorite customers always finding it entertaining when he losses against her.

6. “The Extortionist”

Full Name:  Fengzhui Liu 

Age: 27

Position: Head of the Extortion Branch

Weapon: Pair of Butterfly Swords

Bio: The daughter of a traditionalist martial arts clan located in Henan, China. Fengzhui was a disappointment to her father who wanted a son to train. Deciding he would have a son, Fengzhui's father raised her as a boy even giving her a name traditionally reserved for boys. Tired of being forced to suppress her femininity Fengzhui left her clan and eventually joined the Triads as a mercenary. This did not last long as when during a trip to Japan Fengzhui was betrayed by her employer who had hired several others to take her out. Lying there dying Fengzhui was found by Sakura who took her in for treatment saving her life. Owing to Sakura a debt for saving her life Fengzhui joined the Kito-gumi rising through the ranks and becoming Head of its Extortion Branch. 

A woman of few words Fengzhui prefers to let her fists do the talking for her using her martial art skills to get people to comply with her demands. Occasionally Fengzhui can be found sparring against Mei Yu of Toshima both having known each from their days in China.

7. “The Enforcer”

Full Name: ??? / "Nurarihyon" 

Age: 21

Position: Head of the Hyakki Yagyō

Weapon: Katana 

Bio: It’s unknown what Nurarihyon’s real name is or even her origins. All anybody knows is that one day Sakura came back with a half-feral person who didn't even know how to read or write. What she did know was how to fight and wield a blade with masterful precision. She joined the group soon after taking on the alias Nurarihyon and became the leader of the Hyakki Yagyō the Kito-gumi’s all-female enforcer squad. 

Nurarihyon is extremely mischievous and often pulls pranks on her fellow heads. Despite this, she takes her position as head of the Hyakki Yagyō very seriously and is well known throughout the underworld as someone you don't mess with. 

“Nurarihyon has come out to lead the Hyakki Yagyō against anyone who defies the Kito-gumi.” -  Nurarihyon

The Kito-gumi’s headquarters was a fortress of tradition and power, its walls echoing with the whispers of a thousand secrets. Tonight, however, it was the site of a rare celebration — the birthday of Sakura, the revered and feared leader of the Yakuza family. The members gathered, a mix of hardened faces and sharp suits, their conversations a blend of reverence and revelry. Tonight, all of the family was in attendance, especially those in Kito Sakura's, the birthday woman herself, inner circle.

...Well, almost everyone. A certain gambler by the name of Lucille "Lucky Lucy" Takara was, unfortunately, running late to the event, which didn't go unnoticed by the other members of the group. It was 45 minutes later when the woman in question finally slipped through the door, her arrival like a stone cast into a still pond, rippling through the room. She was late, and the package she carried seemed to weigh heavier with each step under the scrutinizing gaze of her comrades.

"Why the delay, Lucille?" sneered Fengzhui Liu, her arms crossed as she appraised Lucille with a critical eye.

Before Lucille could reply, Sakura’s voice cut through the tension. "Enough. Lucille, explain yourself."

Lucille bowed deeply, the package held out before her. "My apologies, Sakura-sama. I was detained by my boyfriend, Zakari. He insisted on sending these gifts for your birthday, from himself and his parents."

Sakura’s stern facade cracked, curiosity piquing as she took the package from Lucille’s hands. The room leaned in, the collective breath of the Kito-gumi held in suspense as she unwrapped the gifts:

Inside was a full deck of playing cards and casino chips with a Chinese dragon and cherry blossom motif on them. And beside them was an authentic Japanese katana, also with a dragon motif on it.

There was also a blank CD taped off the side that only had 'By Renegade' on it.

A letter lay nestled at the bottom, Zakari’s bold script a stark contrast to the delicate treasures above. Sakura read aloud, her voice betraying a hint of warmth that seldom graced her lips.

"Happy birthday, Dragon-Lady! Lucille mentioned last week on our date that today was your birthday, so I had to hurry and get these to hear so she could deliver them to you. Sorry if I made her run late, but I hope you like the gifts! The cards and chips are from my mom, the sword is from me (I bought it at a pawn shop and it remade), and the song is from my dad. I hope you like them! Happy birthday again on your special day!

Sincerely, Zakari Hiroya."

As she finished, the room erupted in murmurs of approval. Hikaru Kayama, the flirty head of the Prostitute Branch, leaned over to Irina and whispered, "Seems like Lucy's got herself a keeper, eh?"

Irina, usually as cold as the Russian winters, allowed a small smile. "Da, and one who knows how to charm a dragon."

Giving a scowl to the two heads, who immediately clammed up, Sakura looked at the CD and handed it to one of her underlings to play. She couldn't recall any song she had made recently. She wondered what it was.

The answer became obvious as the beat of the song played throughout the speakers, making Sakura's eyes widen, along with everyone else's...

Sakura smirked as the song ended. She had forgotten that she had recorded the song for Kai and as always the DJ did not fail when it came to producing music.

“My my Boss It’s always a treat to hear you rap,” Hikaru praised. 

“You say that as if we didn't just drop a whole album a while ago Hikaru.” 

“I won’t lie it was quite fun. Far different from what we do normally.”

“Nurarihyon wants to do another one soon!”

“I’m amendable to the idea of doing another one given the profits we’ve acquired so far from the current album.” 

“My point still stands” Hikaru rolled his eyes. “Especially since the Boss has truly got a powerful voice for it.” 

A murmur rippled throughout the room as many of the men agreed that the Boss was easily a powerful rapper. They had better agree Sakura hadn’t spent days being tossed around by Kanon as the scientist had taught her to rap and use a Hypnosis Mic. She would have to thank Zakari and his family for the gifts in return one day perhaps when their birthdays rolled around. 

“Lucille,” The room immediately fell silent as Sakura spoke. The aforementioned blonde gambler jumped at the sound of her name. “Next time you see Zakari give him my thanks and tell him to extend it to his family.” 

“Yes Boss!” Lucille saluted.

“Also...”

“Boss?”

“Zakari says “Love you” and he’ll see you tomorrow.” Sakura laughed as she saw Lucille turn bright red at the message the other members even teasing her for her lover boy.
