Femida - Review
Text-Based and Point-and-Click games have existed since the very start of the gaming industry, there’s almost nothing that hasn’t been done in them. Femida tries to differentiate itself from the competition by having the player embody a judge and take part in trials. This is definitely reminiscent of the Ace Attorney series, but coming from a different branch of the law, making it shine by itself even if said comparison can be drawn.
Story
In Femida, the main character is Demian Mardoch, a province judge. He is selected through a lottery to work in the capital for the new Provisional Government, after a revolution overthrew the previous dictatorial regime. This has left the State with a corrupt police force, secret service assassinations and other political turmoil.
Demian also has a personal agenda besides serving the law. Ever since his father disappeared during the March for Peace, he’s been trying uncover the truth about what happened to him. To do so, he may get the assistance of his cousin Dr. Mila Walder or the detective Christie Conon. This is not a one-or-the-other choice; both can help if you decide so.
The options in dialogues are generally well written and interesting, but a few don’t quite match the tone, such as those to “seduce” the female characters, which are utterly ridiculous to read and seem shoehorned in, even more taking into account Demian is married and has a son.
Some parts of the story seem somewhat rushed, dragging the player from place to place while skipping the intermediate content. A lot of parts are omitted in favor of appearing later on as text in Demian’s journal. This is a letdown, since both the story and length of the game would benefit from a “show, don’t tell” approach.
It should be mentioned that there are several translation errors and bugs that bog down the writing, in some cases making whole dialogues disappear or make no sense when read.
Graphics
The graphics in Femida are impressive, with a very distinct style which completely fits the tone of the game. This style is consistent all over the game, using still images without cutscenes for all of its content.
That said, it is a shame how little variation exists in the game. There is a very limited amount of environments in the game, mostly being limited to the house Demian stays at, the court room and his office. These three appear consistently, showing up every day of the story. Other environments, such as the bar or the hospital, appear for a few dialogues, never to be seen again.
Sound
The soundtrack in this game has a really high quality, but limited as well, there is only a pair of different tracks. There are also several SFX, but it’s the same situation as with the soundtrack, they are quite limited, with only a few appearing. The situation for these is even worse, seeing as there are several audio bugs which break them.
One of such bugs occurs when patting the dog, where if done several times, it merges the audio of every single interaction, making the sounds step over each other.
Gameplay
Femida being a text-based game means its main focus is not on the gameplay, but rather on the story. This is evident; most of it ends up reduced to choosing options from a dialogue tree. But there is actual gameplay in the form of trial.
These trials are comprised of several stages: First, orders are given to the police to collect information. These orders can be of several types, some even being abusive to the rights of the citizen or going against the State, which entail a fine. Once the orders are in effect and the story has progressed, the day of the actual trial will come by. Depending on what orders were given, there will be several types of evidence available. This evidence, combined with the information obtained through the questions during the trial, will help the player make the decision of whether the accused is guilty or innocent.
The trials themselves have several mechanics. First, there are two scores, Public and Judiciary. These scores mark how much money will be earned once the trial is over and how the result will affect the world. They increase and decrease based on the questions formulated during the trial, with several rules explained during your first trial.
The other mechanics in the trials are the tension bar and the gavel. These are completely related and depending on which questions are asked, the tension of the room will increase. To prevent it from going too far, the gavel must be employed, reducing this bar with each hit. This gavel is also used to start and end the trial.
Lastly, there is a timer during each trial, which lasts for 12 real time minutes. The trial must be closed before this timer ends, which is a shame, since it prevents the player from being able to read everything unless they are very fast. Another problem that directly affects this is that the pause menu doesn’t actually stop the timer, thus making it impossible to quit in the middle of a trial without alt-tabbing.
Conclusion
Femida is a really good game with an interesting and well written story, but it’s riddled with bugs and translation errors, which deteriorate the experience by a lot, making some parts of its story get lost in translation, forcing you to reload the game, etc.
It is also worth mentioning the length of the game, a single playthrough, reading every single piece of dialogue, lasted 3 hours. This is quite a short length for this type of game, which usually feature at least double the length. While this may be better to unlock all the possible endings, it makes the game’s pacing feel somewhat rushed.
Overall, even if the general quality is there, Femida cannot be objectively recommended until these issues have been fixed.
Personal Opinion
“I liked Femida quite a bit, it is fun to play and interesting to read through, but as mentioned several times, there are too many bugs and translation errors. It doesn’t feel like a completed game but rather an Early Access, which is a shame, since the actual content has the quality of a real game. I’ll mention that the dev team seems pretty invested with the community; at least their update history on Steam makes it seem that way. That means these issues will most likely be solved sooner or later, though it would have been better if they weren’t there in the first place.”

In my pjo crossover headcanons, Bartimaeus could be a kid:
a) Nycta or Echidna, because they are the mothers of monsters; b) AFRODITE. Just for fun. No explanation, it's my favorite headcanon; c) Hermes, because Bartimaeus definitely has chaotic vibes of Hermes' children; d) Hephaestus. Exclusively because Hephaestus is the god of fire.
Nathaniel is, in my opinion, a child of Erida, the goddess of discord. Let's be honest, it suits him.
Kitty…child of Ares? Daughter of Hermes? Daughter of Athena? DAUGHTER OF FEMIDA?
Ptolemy is the son of Athena. Or her Roman form.
Addendum: Gladstone is the son of Zeus. Jacob is the son of Hephaestus. Fakwarl would be on Cronus' side. 100%.

Moyralar (latınca"Moera" - pay, hissə) — Qədim Yunan mifologiyasında tale ilahələri. Hesiodun teoqoniyasına görə, Moyralar ilahə Niktanın qızları, digər bir yerdə isə Zevs və Temis'in (Femida - Ədalət ilahəsi) qızları və Orlar'ın (İl fəsili ilahələri) bacıları kimi göstərilir.
Üç moyra
Kloto,
Laxesis (yun. "taleh"),
Atropa (Atropos - "qaçılmaz ölüm"). Hesiodun teoqoniyasına əsasən tanrı Zevs Moyralara lazımınca səlahiyyətlər vermişdir. Kloto insanların həyat ipini əyirir. Laxesis onların sevinc və kədərlərinə məhəl qoymadan ömür müddətini təyin edərmiş. Üçüncü moyra Atropa isə öz qayçısı ilə həyat ipini kəsərmiş. Troya müharibəsində Zevsin sevimli oğlu Sarpedonu Patroklla vuruşdan moyralar ölüm qərarı vermiş olduqlarından xilas edə bilmir. Çarəsiz Zevsin əlindən qəhrəman oğlunun ölümünə qanlı göz yaşları tökməkdən başqa heç nə gəlmir.

Wizarding Russian Empire and USSR || Lyudmila Vyacheslavovna Vishnevskaya (26 October 1885 – 21 March 1938)
Early Life
Lyudmila Vishnevskaya was born in Poland, then part of the Russian Empire, the youngest of eight children. Her mother died she was two. Life in the Vishnevsky house was not particularly happy; her father was a squib and extremely bitter about it and resented that all of his children showed magical ability where he himself had none.
Her brothers were close friends of their cousins, the Krapivin siblings, and Vishnevskaya herself later claimed that Zakhariya Krapivin recruited her into revolutionary activities in 1899. However, whether or not that is true is uncertain. As a child, she first met the writer, Dionisiy Dmitriyevich Polynkin, who had befriended her maternal uncle, Fines Iosifovich Krapivin.
Regardless, she was one of the earliest members of the Zhnetsy and rose rapidly in its ranks, becoming one of Marena Kulchytskaya’s deputies in September 1923. She was a protegee of her fellow Pole, Vanda Krukovskaya, and Kulchytskaya and Zalischenko were also initially fond of her because of this; though their fathers were Ukrainian, their mothers were both Polish and they had married Polish men. In 1916, she married Askaniy Diogenovich Levandovsky, the younger half-brother of Nestor Levandovsky, by whom she had two children.
But things changed by the mid-1920s. By that point, Krukovskaya had quit the Zhnetsy and Kulchytskaya and Zalischenko were both ailing and so, the Zhnetsy became a hotbed of intrigue and Vishnevskaya won herself the undying hatred of Alsu Andreyevna Zherebtsova, Karta Davidovna Ozolina, and Yeva Naumovna Yablochkova. After news came out in January 1929 that Yablochkova and Vishnevskaya were willing to support a coup by Anfisa Zoranovna Krupina and Nestor Feodorovich Voinov, Kostov rapidly lost faith in her.
Zherebtsova then tried to throw oil on the fire in 1930 by teaming up with Svetoslava Vratislavna Sadovskaya, Agameda Yermolayevna Verbenskaya, and Koronida Asklepiyevna Vorona to accuse Vishnevskaya and Kronos Dmitriyevich Geyer of fabricating cases. An irate Kostov decided to punish everyone involved and brought in Femida Dionisyevna Yarema to attempt to clean house, while rumors also circulated that he intended to appoint Zabel Lvovna Sargsyan as head of the Zhnetsy. However, as many of the arrested Zhnetsy reported years later, they abruptly closed ranks and went out of their way to sabotage Yarema. At some point after this, Vishnevskaya also experienced a falling out with her former protegee, Melanippa Ippolitovna Chernyshova, probably as she was suspicious of Chernyshova’s close links with Zherebtsova.
Around this time, Vishnevskaya also managed to somewhat redeem herself by luring Dionisiy Polynkin back to the USSR with the help of his long-time secretary, Mircha Perunovich Zelenko. Initially, Polynkin had the utmost faith in Zelenko and Vishnevskaya, but both proved to be faithless friends.
Zhnetsy Chief
On 1 April 1934, only weeks after Kulchytskaya’s assassination, Kostov appointed Vishnevskaya the Head of Zhnetsy. She was chosen for the job, because she had experience and Kostov thought she would be easy to control and appointing a non-Zhnets was unlikely to have gone over well. Vishnevskaya supervised the interrogation processes resulting in the trial of Maria Iosifovna Kovalskaya, her family, and associates in 1934 as well as the show trial and subsequent execution of Zaria Kresnikovna Krasavkina and Yefrem Levandovsky (of no relation to Nestor and Askaniy) during July and August 1936.
However, neither process went smoothly and helped convince Kostov that she and her cohorts were either morons, traitors, or both. First, Kovalskaya almost died on the second day after her arrest as a result of developing a severe case of delirium tremens, which meant that interrogation had to be postponed until she recovered. Second, Kovalskaya refused to confess to being anyone’s pawn. Third, Vishnevskaya and her underlings (Germes Iosifovich Saranchin, Milica Bogdanovna Malinina, and Izmail Yakovlevich Arkhipienka) all failed to find a solid link between Kovalskaya and Krasavkinans and Lutsenkoists and then slightly balked when Kostov ordered them to fabricate one, while also roping in as many other dissidents as possible.
The interrogations of Krasavkina, Levandovsky, and others in July and August 1936 did not go any more smoothly: Germes Afinodorovich Golubtsov, Aleksey Yevdokimovich Kopeinikov, and Ghmerti Mamberovich Saakashvili went on a hunger strike; Krasavkina became temporarily insane; and Levandovsky and Violetta Dimitryevna Solovieva remained defiant for weeks. Though all eventually signs confessions, they weren’t helpful at implicating anyone else in their supposed terrorist conspiracy, which meant that Vishnevskaya and the Zhnetsy had to fabricate just who did what primarily at the direction of Kostov.
The show trial itself didn’t go off without a hitch, either: Golubtsov claimed to have formed a terrorist group, but not to have organized any plots and the main agent provocateur that Vishnevskaya and co. had selected, Alisa Genrikhovna Zakite, kept confusing Viktor and Vitaly Lutsenko with each other and their late father and claimed to have met with them in a restaurant in the Netherlands that had been destroyed by a flood in 1918. (In reality, Zakite was a long-time Zhnetsy informant and agent, who had been tasked in 1930 to infiltrate the Lutsenkos’ inner circle, but had failed gain to their confidence, as her erratic behavior caused other Lutsenkoists to believe that she was mentally unstable).
Disgrace and Downfall
Vishnevskaya was dismissed as the head of the Zhnetsy in October 1936 and instead became People’s Commissar of Communications, on the grounds that her negligence had failed to prevent traitorous conspiracies. However, she was arrested on 24 April 1937, after Milica Malinina was tortured into confessing that they had both active participants in the conspiracy, had also been spying for the British and Germans since 1918, and had become agents of Grindelwald in the mid-1920s. Vishnevskaya was also charged with corruption, assassination, and embezzlement.
After her arrest, she quickly confessed to corruption and being a sympathizer of Krupina and Voinov, but denied the rest. After being beaten by Alsu Zherebtsova and Nataliya Valeryevna Voronova, however, she abruptly confessed to having been involved in a planned coup; killing Mirina Feodorovna Voinova, Kulchytskaya, Apollonia Dionisiyevna Polynkina, Zalischenko, Aglaonika Zvezdova, Polynkin, Irodiada Perunovna Zelenko, and Samson Viktorovich Lekarev, with the aid of her long-time lover, Mircha Zelenko; had also ordered Söyembikä Timurovna Akhmatova to poison Dariy Mironov so that he couldn’t uncover their plots and then had Akhmatova herself killed; and had told her former secretary, Alena Torkanovna Cheremisina, to prepare Medvednikov poisoned meals. Meanwhile, that spring, she was abruptly denounced by her brothers and sister (who accused her of being a “filthy degenerate”) and, more damningly, by her husband’s nephew, Gorgiy Gektorovich Levandovsky, who reported negative comments she’d supposedly made about Mironov and Sevastyan Viktorovich Ryndin.
The corruption charges and her confession of opportunism had a glimmer of truth to them, but the rest of them didn’t, particularly not the charge that she had orchestrated the assassination of Kulchytskaya. Those who knew her said that Vishnevskaya was not nearly intelligent enough to managed such a secret conspiracy on her own and besides, she was so terrified of both Kulchytskaya and Kostov, she wouldn’t have stepped on an insect without their express permission.
Trial and Execution
Vishnevskaya was one of the defendants at the last show trial, alongside her associates, Mircha Zelenko and Cheremisina. Cheremisina, who had probably been egged on by her former lover, Melanippa Chernyshova, spun a sorts of fantastic tales about the plots her former boss had been involved in, but no one seems to have initially noticed that she had extreme difficulty keeping her story straight from day. For instance, Cheremisina had first claimed that Söyembikä Akhmatova was responsible for giving Maria Kovalskaya the telescope filled with erumpent fluid and killing Mironov and then was killed herself on the orders of Izmail Arkhipienka, but then abruptly switched her story another day to claim that other Ledenets Zhnets, Dobronega Vladimirovna Glebova, had been responsible for the telescope and Akhmatova had been killed on the orders of Nikita Kassiyevich Likharev. Despite the incoherence of Cheremisina’s story, she, Zelenko, and Vishnevskaya were all sentenced to death, along with all but two of the other defendants.
Right before their execution, Vishnevskaya was in floods of tears and numbly insisting that it had to be a mistake. Medvednikov, who was present at the execution, was irritated by her crying and ordered Gavril Saulovich Leichenberg to beat her to make her shut up. Supposedly, she, Voinov, and Krupina were executed last, so they had to watch the others die.
Afterwards, her husband and five siblings were all executed, while her son and daughter were sent to Vyraj. Her husband’s obnoxious nephew, Gorgiy, had been executed the previous fall, on charges of he had been privy to his half-cousin, Ipatiya Nestorovna Levandovskaya’s, conspiracy with a group of Aurors. Vishnevskaya’s only son, Dionisy Askaniyevich Levandovsky, was released from Vyraj in 1941 after volunteering to fight in the Global Wizarding War, but was killed in 1942. Her daughter, Anfisa, was released in 1956 and sought her mother’s rehabilitation in 1965, but was denied.
