Third Blog Post

The artist that I am researching is Karla Guerrero. Karla Guerrero is was born in 1993 in Mexico City and still located in Mexico. Karla Guerrero is currently 31 years old. Her work is highly influenced by phenomenological states related to the poetic’s space and events between the object-subject. The limits within public and private stimulate her to create imaginary scenarios in which she preserves the natural essence of things such as natural light and still life, depicting the causality of an environment. Her work has been exhibited across Europe and Mexico. She is also a founder and curator of Femgrafia which is a space where Ibero-American women can have promotion and research oh photographic work. She is an amazing woman who has achieved so many things in her life which I find so inspiring. Her project is called Berta which is a short series of the daily life through the lens of her grandmother. Her grandmother suffers from dementia and Karla took inspiration from what her grandmother created a photo book of her favorite memories. Karla dedicates this project to people with dementia and alzheimer. Looking at her works provided, I really love looking how she brings in the viewer with these close up mysterious pictures. I think with Karla’s twist with the daily life through her grandmother is very interesting because it makes you think outside of the box for a deeper meaning between the photos and the objects in the pictures.

Últimamente pienso en la gente que aguanta hambre literal, que tiene que escoger entre esperar y ver llorar a sus hijos, ver a sus abuelos... Y aún así la realidad es que no hay nada en casa, ayer vi un vídeo de cómo los trapos rojos se extendían por decepaz, no es algo original, ya lo hicieron en Medellín y Bogotá, pero se entiende lo que dicen las personas. Un amigo me dijo que quizás podría ser más estético, una señora desde su privilegio de quédate en casa estrato 5 dijo que podían ser más concientes... Pero es el hambre la que habla, no importa lo bello o si hay conciencia, existe lo real y es que las personas no pueden escoger dos formas de muertes, la del hambre o la de un virus que extiende de forma invisible. El estomago en los niños genera llanto y rabia.
