I need to let you all know that Blade: The Series is available on Tubi.

I loved this show. The acting swings between pretty decent to over-the-top camp. The action sequences are terrible. It is peak 2000's. The show was produced for Spike TV, a channel most of you have probably never even heard of. Trust, when I say, that is an indicator of the quality of programming you're going to get (not good and very macho). Note: It does get better over of the course of it's single season.

But it has Krista, played by Jill Wagner, who is an attractive soldier home from the war with some PTSD and a missing brother, and Chase, who's bit of an unhinged vampire who has a traumatic backstory (does anyone in this show not have a traumatic backstory?), hates Krista because of the attention she's been getting, but also kind of has the hots for her. The Krista/Chase fandom was the most fun to come from this show back in the day.

To be clear, they're not a romantic couple in the show. They were mostly enemies, at best frenemies, but the two had so much damn chemistry. How could it not spawn a ship?

A lot of the fic has been lost, but it looks like most of fembuck's stuff made it onto AO3. The P&P archive is having issues, but you can still access stuff from the wayback machine. So if you're in the mood for some bad tv (affectionate) or sapphic vampire fic for a cheesy show, now you can indulge. Tis the season.

As someone who had to wait years to find a 'zine (Star Trek/Star Wars) and then NEVER found the femslash I wanted, I have to say that I find this current system ... flawed as it may be ... superior. I head over to Ao3, and there are hundreds and hundreds of fics that I like, and I don't have to read the ones that I'm less fond of. (Looking at you Kirk/Spock ... 'cause really not into Kirk or dudes.) There are some awesome early stories "Night of the Twin Moons" is a classic that I still read. But ease of access has made lengthy fiction more common. "Underneath it all" by Fembuck is an Emma Frost/Jean Gray romance for all time. Would that have been published in a paper zine? Maybe. Would I have actually found it? Probably not.

I think TLT might have legs beyond Alecto. The fan base will be smaller, but fic / art will happen.

OP's thoughts are valid, but I still see a bright spot.

Not people saying “Fandom has always been like this” in that vent post I made. No. It hasn’t always been like this. Fandom has NEVER been like this until recently and if you were in fandom pre-tumblr purge, pre-twitter, pre-netflix boom, pre-tiktok….then you would fucking know it was nothing like this.

We still had the drive to create. We still sold prints and charms and made zines…but it was never like this.

The introduction of streaming, binge shows that drop all at once, tiktok and vine RIP i still love u vine but you were the beginning of a particularly ugly era) creating this bite sized, quick paced ‘content’ era of creation and it bled out into fucking everything else.

Fandoms didn’t die down when the show ended or the season was over. You didn’t mass unfollow artist, writers or moots just because they changed fandoms. There wasn’t this need to please the algorithm in order for your posts to get seen by people and enjoyed.

Fandoms used to last YEARS. Star Trek is literally the oldest running fandom out there and you got people in there that could care less about the new stuff and still have been happily prancing through their fucking fifty year old fandom today. Hell, even SPN after all it’s fuckups and shitshows has a dedicated fanbase STILL creating tons of art and fic.

There is no patience anymore. No calm feeling of taking in fandom and friends at a pace that which doesn’t make you stressed and is still fun.

Do I blame fandom for this? Of course not, but people are complacent with it and start changing their vocab to accommodate and end up making the situation so deep it cant be fixed.

We call Art & Fic Content now, completely stripping the value of what it is to a level of consumerism instead of personal entertainment & community bonding.

How many WIPs do you currently have? 3 One Frozen that has been in hiatus since 2019. One TLT that is rolling slowly along. One TLT that I just started pondering.

Of my Frozen Fitzverse romances, I would say Queen's Rook because I had a great beta who made my writing so much better.
