hi! I don't know if you've noticed but recently you reblogged a terf post, a tiktok screenshot by 'femaleterrorists'. just wanted to give you a heads up!

I appreciate the intention! However, the reason I reblogged that wasn't because I thought it was terfy, but because I think that mindset it was talking about is a legitimate issue. I don't think that it's that way for everyone, of course--many people have much more complex reasons for being trans, and I'm not arguing that.

But it's true that there are also a good number of people who decide to transition without actually believing they're trans, but rather because they don't like what they perceive as what identifies that gender, and prefer what they perceive identifies another. Like the people in that post who don't like being treated poorly as a woman (again, legit issue, not denying that) and so transition to a man without actually identifying that way

Or, say, when a male likes pink and feminine aesthetics, and doesn't like having a penis, and so listens to everyone who says they should be a female. So they transition and then discover it was something else they didn't like, and not the gender, and that they could have stayed a male and liked what they liked.

Again, not saying that's everyone. It's a complex issue. A lot more so than how I simplified it for efficiency here. Everyone has wildly different reasons for identifying the way they do. But I reblogged that because there are quite a few people who have to detransition after going through that, and I feel bad for them, because life taught them that transitioning would fix what they didn't like about their lives and it didn't. They aren't everyone, but they are there.
