A/N: This turned out to be a bit more of Connor x reader though I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!

Summary: The request

Blending in with her new coworkers at the DPD proved to be more difficult than (Y/N) had originally anticipated.

For the few months she had worked as a detective at the Detroit police department, she had come to learn the hard way that some of her colleagues abruptly refused to have any relation with her whatsoever. Despite befriending quite a few colleagues, it still pained her she couldn’t freely chat with all of her coworkers. Yet she accepted the fact she couldn’t be friends with everyone, but what she couldn’t wrap her mind around was the rudeness detective Gavin Reed had towards her. His unreasonable discourtesy often got out of hand to the point where (Y/N) actively avoided him.

Whether it was irony or some twisted test the universe forced her to endure, she got paired with no other than detective Reed himself to investigate murders that seemed to be connected. To say (Y/N) was excited for this assignment would’ve been a lie. Well at first, she was glad to work on such intriguing and complex case up until Fowler announced Reed as her partner. Even though she tried her best to negotiate with her supervisor it was no use- she had no other option, but to withdraw and accept her fate.

Despite getting upset with the news, she tried her best to not let Gavin’s immature antics get in the way of her work. Even though (Y/N) tried to keep her composure -and even succeed for the most part- there was a drastic change in her otherwise warm demeanor didn’t go unnoticed by her android friends, who immediately picked up something different about her no one else could. Throughout the time the two androids knew (Y/N), they have learned a lot -if not everything- about her; her facial expressions and body language gave away everything about her both Connor and Nines needed to know.

Simultaneously checking her vitals and using her body language as an indicator for her mood had become a habit the two androids had developed; it was form of an indirect checkup to make sure (Y/N) was well and healthy, so they instantly noticed the worry in her features and in the way she behaved. At first, wanting to avoid further upsetting her, the two detectives didn’t question her. Yet they discussed their observations silently via data transmission even in times when she was present.

“It appears she is still troubled. Her dopamine levels are lower than usual.” Connor’s LED flashed in a glowing amber.

“I am positive she is indeed upset, but the cause still remains unidentified.” Nines’ head tilted slightly.

“For the most advanced prototype ever created, you do seem to not live up to the assets you should possess.”  The tiniest of smiles curled the corners of his lips.

“Enough.” Nines’ harsh voice took (Y/N) by surprise; she stopped talking as quick as she had begun and took a closer look at the boys. Were they communicating via telepathy?

“Am I interrupting something?” She raised her brow at them; the two looked back at her.

“No, no.” Nines began explaining “Connor was simply overloading my system with unnecessary data.” He went on, striking his predecessor with a stern look, who now looked at his feet in embarrassment.

“Okay, sure.” She rolled her eyes, buying none of it though she didn’t question them further. “Now if you don’t mind I gotta go. Duty calls.” She winked as she headed towards Gavin’s desk. She let out a deep sigh as if to collect any willpower she had left to put up with him for yet another day.

“Your ass finally decided to show up!” Gavin snickered through his shit-eating grin.

“Yeah, I’m glad to see you too, Reed!” She rolled her eyes as she sat across him, immediately busying herself with reports.

“You know it would’ve been nice if you smile for once. Hate to see your pretty face so grumpy.” He commented in his typical mocking tone.

“I don’t know about that, but maybe I will look happier if you shut up for once.” She gave him the fakest of smiles, fighting the growing urge to punch him in the face.

“Now let’s stop bitching and get back to work. These reports won’t write themselves.”

“What the hell is your problem?”  (Y/N) raised her voice, catching the attention of the two androids that happened to have witnessed the whole situation.

“Unlike you, I just want to get my job done.” Gavin stated as he typed away at his keyboard, not even glancing her way. She scoffed in response.

“You’re un- fucking -believable!” She stormed into the breakroom; tears formed in the corners of her eyes- she couldn’t bear it.

“Go after (Y/N)“ Nines’ LED flooded with multiple colors as he transferred the message to his predecessor, who already thought the same thing. "I’ll take care of detective Reed.” Connor shot him a brief look of puzzlement only to notice the bright red of his LED, but decided against stopping him- whatever was coming Gavin’s way was most definitely deserved.

Entering the break room, Connor was met with the sight of (Y/N) silently sitting on a table, the soft sounds of sobs being the only noise that echoed in the empty space.

“Detective” His hand gently landed on her shoulder; carefully, he rubbed her skin through the fabric of her clothes in a soothing manner, in hopes of calming her down. “May I help?”

“How?” Her head rose from the palms of her hands that have guarded her vulnerability, being her pained look, only to reveal the hopelessness woven in the (E/C) of her eyes. “There’s nothing we could do. No matter how many times I tried to be nice and understanding nothing seems to do it. He just hates my guts.” Another set of tears rolled down her cheeks, followed by a hiccup.

Connor had never seen her like this and he soon grew to resent it; the feelings of anger and disappointment grew within him. How could he have not noticed the root of the problem earlier? He quickly pushed these thoughts aside, for he had a far more urgent task- to take care of his friend.

“Humans tend to do many unreasonable and irrational things, one of them being their communication with others.” He began explaining all the while he filled a glass of water to give to (Y/N). “I came to learn that from my very first interaction with a human. Believe it or not, I had difficulties with detective Reed myself.”

“Really?” Curiosity flashed in her puffy eyes. “But you two hardly ever communicate. What’s your secret?” She sipped at the water; her gaze fixed on him in anticipation.

“That’s a long story.” He gave her a reassuring smile.

“Aw don’t leave me hanging.” She playfully hit his arm.

“Okay I’ll tell you… one day. Are you feeling better?” His soft brown eyes searched hers.

“Yeah. Thank you, Connor.” She pulled him in for a hug; speechless, leaving him speechless. Cautiously, he wrapped his arms around her form. He sighed in delight- the mission was a success. Right then sudden yells caught their attention. Looking at the direction the commotion came from, the two noticed Nines, holding Gavin by his collar.

“I have a feeling Gavin might want to avoid the three of us all together.”

Romantic Yandere Simon/PL600 (Detroit: Become Human) with Apathetic!Fem!Darling who can’t feel or comprehend emotions properly and it’s kinda perfect for the job at the Detroit Police Department to catch and interrogate deviants, no matter how much it freaks most people/androids out (especially her partner Gavin Reed), but Simon wants nothing more than to take care her. Maybe even try to help her with that apathy issue as well. Hopefully he’s a bit milder compared to Daniel.

You don't seem to care about much except for one thing; your job.

Catching deviants is typically done with help, Connor and Hank tend to be more skilled in that area.

You tend to find their locations.

Your partner Gavin tends to help with interrogation.

Although you don't typically need help.

Simon most likely doesn't fall for you right off.

After all, you're technically an enemy of deviants who has ordered for his arrest.

Simon is probably a little intimidated by you.

When he's arrested after being captured an separated from Markus, he meets you.

Your eyes are cold and you look bored.

If you're a human he at first sees you as a threat.

If you're an android then he feels saddened, wondering if you'll be able to join their cause or not.

Your interactions are very minimal at first.

You interrogate him and keep him in captivity.

Gavin asks you why you don't just have Simon dismantled.

You tell him to not rush things and that Simon is the closest lead you have to tracking more deviants.

Simon is thankful you're at least being merciful.

But maybe he should've been shut down.

Simon himself is calm, quiet, and reserved.

He's loyal to his cause and often shuts up when you ask him questions.

You're harsh in questioning at times, even when you don't mean it.

It's strange to Simon that you can't comprehend emotions at times.

The android should hate you.

If you're a human then he should despise you but he's always had a neutral feeling towards them. With you he feels... strange.

If you're an android he already wants to change you.

You could experience so much more if you just let him show you.

This obsession would be rather slow due to you not being all that receptive.

Simon is a bit relieved you keep him running, even in a cell.

He doesn't get much except watching others through a reinforced glass door.

As a result he often sees you through the door, when you're not interrogating him.

Simon is a much softer yandere than Daniel.

He doesn't often resort to violence and when his obsession starts it's very subtle when it grows.

Simon develops some form of stockholm syndrome over time the longer you keep him.

He's being kept like a hostage, someone used for information and leverage.

Despite the situation he slowly develops some sort of fascination towards you.

It's most likely due to a sense of loneliness.

You're the only one he really has contact with, even if you not the most emotive.

Part of him holds a twisted sense of curiosity, wondering why you act such a way.

Past trauma perhaps? Or maybe you've always been this way?

What he does know is he prefers your neutral personality compared to Gavin's personality.

Speaking of which, Gavin tends to mess with you.

Simon often hears about it/sees it when you and Gavin interact.

It's like there's something between you two and normally Simon wouldn't care.

But as he watches and the longer he sits in isolation... he feels envy.

He isn't sure why, could be the companionship or the fact he's grown attached to you...

He just knows he hates Gavin around you.

Simon is in no position to dictate what you do.

In fact for awhile he probably won't.

If you're an android things are easier.

He can convince you of his cause if he makes you deviant, then he can focus on making you less apathetic.

If you're human there's no easy way to convince you of anything.

But he still wants to try.

When Simon grows attached he wishes he could care for you, even if you're a human.

Despite your apathy and tendencies not to care, you sometimes check in despite the cold tone in your voice.

He has a feeling, even if it is delusional, that you care about him.

So he'll hold onto the thought.

I feel once an obsession is established Simon will try to reach out to you.

Questioning becomes an attempt to connect with you.

He wants to learn about you even though you're trying to learn about his friends.

Simon quickly becomes unresponsive when Gavin is in the room, but when he leaves and you're alone Simon will respond.

The relationship between you two is definitely unhealthy.

Simon sees you, technically his captor, as someone he can change.

Maybe he can make you more open to deviants likes him.

Maybe he can make you less apathetic and more expressive.

If this is how it feels to care and adore someone... then he has to have you.

I feel Simon's feelings can climax in one of two ways.

Maybe Markus plans a breakout mission to rescue Simon or Simon is released when androids are accepted by society.

Let's explore the first way.

Perhaps the police department is stormed by deviants and Simon is freed.

Due to his mental state, Simon feels like he can't just leave you.

Markus sees Simon's hesitant and asks him what's wrong.

"There's this woman I met while here... I can't just leave her be."

"It's dangerous to take anyone back with us, you know that!"

"She's different, I swear! I... want to know more about her-"

With a lengthy discussion soon Markus approves of you being taken in.

Now the roles have switched.

Against your will you're essentially taken in as a hostage just like Simon was.

You're quickly accepted if you're a deviant, but not really if you're a human.

Despite this... Simon feels it's his turn to care for you.

He won't interrogate you, he'll try to treat you like he does the rest of the deviants.

He tries to make you more emotive but it's difficult.

Simon wants to change you like you did him.

He wants to love you even if he's hated for it.

He's much more caring than Daniel, another PL600 model.

He provides you with what you need and keeps you cuffed to run.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he just cuffed you to himself.

It's clear after his capture Simon has grown more unstable.

He tells you how much he loves you and how he forgives you for what you did before.

He tries to kiss you and show his twisted adoration for you, he wants you to so desperately react.

In reality you struggle to process, well, everything.

You don't know what emotions are appropriate, you don't know how to react...

All you know is the android you interrogated before now has you cuffed to him at all times, rambling about love that you doubt he feels.

That's one way Simon can express his adoration.

Then there's if androids are accepted into society.

You expect to live your own life and just be alone after you release Simon.

No... guess not.

Simon instead wants to be closer to you and wants your help in finding a way to start a new life.

You try to tell him no but he's persistent.

I feel Simon is definitely a yandere who wants to be caring as a PL600.

PL600's tend to be caretakers which would explain Simon's tendency to care and be loyal to others.

He dedicates himself to "fixing" his darling one way or another.

He isn't sure how to teach emotions but he tries.

He never leaves your side and often speaks to Markus and North about you.

Simon refers to you as his girlfriend and partner, always looking giddy while saying it.

He tries his best to show you he loves you, often attempting physical affection to see your reaction.

He doesn't understand why you're so apathetic but him forcing himself into your life certainly doesn't help.

Essentially by the height of his obsession Simon has swapped roles with you.

You become the hostage and he the captor.

Overall I feel Simon loves you the same but tries to teach you to have more emotions.

He really does want to help.

Simon isn't really possessive but he can be jealous.

He hates Gavin around you and often glares at him, even if androids are "accepted".

Simon would be the type of yandere to lock you away and care for you himself.

He doesn't care what he has to go through to reach your needs and change your apathy...

He'd give his girlfriend the world if he could.

But once he has you he'll never let you go out of his sight.

I suck at headcanons but these are the cop headcanons I was talking about:

Gavin joined the force around 10yrs before when we meet him in the game

Back in patrol he used to be rough with suspects even if he knew they were innocent, y'know the ego, never admitting he's wrong and shit. The use of force is a bit over the limit too, throwing people on the ground when ain't that necessary, pinning on the wall, car hood and shit. Your average police brutality metaphor.

Always an escalating prick: if he can make the environment kinda tense he will, with authoritative and sometimes sarcastic tones. He also tends to joke about the suspect behind 'em back, calling 'em idiot and shit like this.

On scene he used to make questionable jokes with his pals (that were like him) when with a suspect detained or arrested especially if related to DUI.

His superior on Patrol Unit used to be "corrupt" too so he was always kinda backed up cuz although he was an asshole he got things done and u know what cops think about some types of suspect, especially the hostile ones

If he can go for his gun he gonna go for his gun and gonna point it in your face.

Although Gavin could be considered a corrupt cop for having power trips dude knows the laws, the thing is he does what he thinks that needed to be done to make the wheels turn. I'd say he got his own laws.

For some reason I believe Reed been a detective for at least 4 years when we meet him. He thought about trying SWAT before or even K9 (mf love dogs, hunter dogs) but found himself in financial related crimes division, later in major crimes like homicide. He liked the detective even tho was a hell of work and u couldn't have peace. But it's a popular area to try building a career.

Dude's kinda interested in firearms.

He's still got the habit of joking even on the most gruesome crime scenes. It's like things don't impact him that much to the point if he discovered something he didn't like about the victim he would joke about 'em death

He got a damn of a dirty mouth esp when not inside the station and he can be disrespectful in some moments

He's known ass Det. Asshole in his division. Dude's always sarcastic and arrogant, and wanting mfs to laugh or agree with him. Some actually pretend being in the circle but still think dude's an asshole and invasive sometimes, especially the women.

He'll often make homophobic and transphobic jokes especially if he wanna piss someone off - mostly about men, if fruity or too feminine or trans women that looks "kinda masculine". Nothing personal, tho.

If the person is fucking an android or is an android "lover" he'll also shit on this, usually saying things like "you can't fuck a real person so you need a piece of plastic as replacement". It's basically like asking for him to look down on mfs. He also bully his co-workers about it, especially if the coworker dislike androids too. It's like an offense.

He got very peculiar opinions on Tracis, especially the fem ones. By peculiar I mean quite negative and I got the impression he would do some bad things to 'em. I'm talking about destroying 'em, ofc.

He also ain't got respect for "the bitches" - u just gotta look and/or act like one, btw. Well... He'll joke about it and be quite disrespectful. Men can be bitches too, according to him. "Pussies".

On the contrary of what most of the fandom think doesn't matter if he kinda see an android like an individual he'll still see 'em as inferior beings that should kneel to him and kiss his feet and he'll carry this mentality for a good time. The rebellion actually makes him "hate" android more cuz now androids are giving "orders" and making demands.

He sometimes bully the android cops too. He just likes making fun of 'em, bumping into 'em on purpose sometimes even making 'em fall to the ground and saying "oops! Sorry" in sarcastic tone. Ofc when things are more empty at the station and nobody gonna complain about it

He'll be an ass about androids while they're passive, and he expects 'em to always bow down in the end. Even if the android did something absurd he gonna joke about it or force 'em to bow. The moment the android becomes visibly unstable dude gonna shit on his pants and gonna order somebody to deal with the shit - which was the case in The Interrogation with Ortiz's android. But I assume most human characters are like this as they're not used to unstable androids or see 'em as just defective machines comparable to your printer going wild in the office

He like telling stories about his cases and experiences to anyone next to him in the moment. Even if it's some fucked up shit mf is always with his sense of humor on point.

This fucked up and sarcastic sense of humor happen to be one of his manipulation methods in interrogations, where he constructs a bridge with the criminal so they feel like in a friendly chit-chat and confess. But his favorite method is roughing up suspects, if he can get physical, punch mfs he will so if mfs don't tell him what he want he kinda doesn't mind that much, if u know what i mean.

Bro is aiming for supervisor ranks for the name but he actually sucks in being in a team. Dude always wanna order everybody and do everything himself, not obeying orders that goes against what he think is right. He hates some people are in the way of him achieving it.

If the "lead" detective on scene he doesn't wanna anyone fucking around, even if the person is a witness. He tends to escalate things or even get the witness "roughly" detained if they piss him off.

Some co-workers try avoiding him, fear him but some are just assholes like him. Not the majority, tho. Sometimes mf can be an asshole but dislikes Reed

Although he's a complicated person he has been more cautious in not having his shit being discovered by superiors not cuz he think it's wrong but cuz he doesn't wanna mfs screaming in his ear and fucking with his stairway to success. Shit going public also wouldn't be a good deal.

Bro just wanna get the job done to add to his list of accomplishments, to show how although he got an asshole reputation mfs can't say he's a bad detective. And it's even the reason some superiors are actually cool in pretending they didn't see shit - we're dealing with criminals, after all. They're less than animals.

He knows Hank covers criminals and it makes him pissed how Jeffrey backs him up just cuz he's his friend, not cuz Hank is doing a good work. It's all about the old times. Gavin looks down on the type of criminals Hank cover, even tho he kinda pits 'em. But there's one reason: androids. As I said before Gavin jokes about mfs addicted to drugs, he looks down on 'em most of the time - alcohol and red ice being the common ones. Control the shit, don't let it control ya is the deal.

Some mfs already tried bribery with Gavin cuz they were "relevant" or something so minuscule there's was "but why?" in the air but mf throw it back at 'em and kinda laughs. If he gotta investigate what end up to be a fellow police officer he'll do it and be pleasured in fucking mf's life, unless mf is really friends with him. The issue is when some commands come from above him, it's another reason he's aiming for higher ranks. He doesn't care if he would act kinda corrupt as long as he gets what he wants done.

He knows about the overall police reputation and how he can be seen as one of the rotten apples and i don't think he cares about cleaning the org's name, just about getting his work done.

During the "Android Crime Unit" episode he was the only one that thought this whole thing was sus af. But it was out of his hands, had superiors involved on this so he just let it go even if he hated it. Although he can be impulsive he got good eyes and ears to detect fuckery going on.

He ain't a fan of CyberLife at all not only cuz of android but cuz he dislike megacorporations like this who got 'em hands on everybody like this, replacing everybody like they're nothing. If he got the opportunity of shitting on 'em he will. Being replaced by one of 'em shitty products is a damn offense, almost a threat.

He dislikes the gov but when the deviant crisis happens his opinion on androids doesn't change. He actually wants 'em to be set on fire, gunned down, destroyed, even if it means it's helping CyberLife. He's there to serve his city, after all. LE gotta show who's the boss in this mf. Curiously this a sentiment most of cops share even after a successful revolution.

He got this "badass motherfucker alive" sentiment. Back when he was in uniform he used to take pictures of him with hand on holster or gun in hands, "like a boss" poses and shit. Y'know, those cops who like some aviator glasses and badge always on sight. It still kinda a thing now with plain clothes. He just thinks he's the best mf ever esp at work - always trynna prove being superior

There's a very good way of shutting him up, tho: letting him talking to the walls or being too polite in counter-argumenting him at work. He'll get angry fr. He doesn't like when mfs think they're better than him or more "successful" than him at his job.

In the end he's just a high-nose bastard. Everybody facepalms and sigh deeply when they know Det. Reed is in the area.
