Alex leaned back into Thomas’s embrace as he wrapped his arms around her from behind. She rested her head in the crook of his neck as they relished the last moments of quiet.

The lights on the enormous Christmas tree illuminated the dark room. The sun had barely begun to wake and light the sky. 

“It’s time,” Thomas whispered, pressing a kiss on the top of her head.

“One more minute,” Alex asked, making sure everything was just right. The presents under the tree stretched across the room. The four stockings on the mantle were overflowing. The plates of cookies and carrots for Santa and his reindeer were appropriately eaten. Everything was perfect. 

“Merry Christmas,” Alex turned into Thomas. Her lips finding his. 

“In case I don't’ get another chance today,” Thomas began. “I love you! You have changed my world for the better. I love you, my Alex.”

“I love you too!” Alex kissed him once more, her thumb running across the stumble on his cheek as she cradled his face in her hands. “Should we wake the twins?”

“Too late,” Thomas smiled, turning his attention toward the top of the stairs. 

Alex followed his gaze finding their three-year-old twins standing on the top of the stairs in their matching pajamas. They were covering each other’s eyes. “Eww. Gross!”

Alex laughed though her eyes were filling with tears. She never knew she could be so happy. Her heart was overflowing with love for her family. “One last kiss? Since they’re already covering their eyes.”

Thomas leaned in holding her face. He brushed his lips against her forehead. “Goodbye sweet quiet,” Thomas teased.

“Okay, Felicity, Vincent, come down! Mommy and daddy promise no more kissing.” 

As the twins reached the bottom step, Alex grabbed Vincent and Thomas scooped up Felicity, They kissed their children all over holding them close.

“Mommy!” Vincent wiggled beneath her kisses. “You promised no kissing.”

“Daddy!” Felicity giggled. “We want to see what Santa left us!”

“We promised that mommy and daddy wouldn’t kiss,” Alex started.

“We said nothing about us kissing you!” Thomas continued.

PREMIERE NIGHT | Welcome to Love Island (6/7)

Nina: Ah, looks like the girls are getting in some quality bonding time over what they’re looking for. Gotta say, I’m with Manny on this one: get me something tall, dark, and handsome, with a cold Mojito on the side, and I’ll be one happy girl. Tori and Felicity might both be looking for something serious, but it’s clear that at least one of them has already got a nice laundry list of qualifications in mind for their next suitor. Wells, here’s to hoping these girls all get what they want this season. But before we give them a chance to go on the hunt, we’ve got one more lady to introduce!

Manny: [excited squeal] Alright, now this is what I’m talking about!

Manny: Manny, you beautiful bitch, you’ve hit the jackpot now!

Manny: [in the confessional room] Yeah, Manuela is way too formal. Feels like I’m about to get chastised in church. Just call me Manny. And on the subject of love? [shrug] I’m seeing what happens alright. I’m thrilled enough to get a paid vacation away from my job, so I’ll count my blessings there.

Tori: [nervous chuckle] Er, do you always talk to yourself, or did I just catch you on a rare occasion?

Manny: Just playing it up for the cameras. Gotta do something to get that precious air time, right?

Tori: As if we won’t get plenty once everyone’s pheromones start mixing together. 

Tori: I’m excited to see where things go in here! Usually I’m not too optimistic on the dating front - I’ve met some real assholes who haven’t been cool with my transition. But y’know, this is probably as open a playing field as it gets! With any luck, maybe I’ll walk out of here with the love of my life and a little cash.

Camryn: So what’re you guys looking for? Romance? A little holiday fun?

Manny: Is something hot and warm to lay under an acceptable response?

Felicity: Well I’m looking for the real deal. I’m sick and tired of these losers my parents keep trying to marry me off to. If I wanted some loser making a living off of his daddy’s money, I’d be sitting in a mansion somewhere with a kid on the way already. I want excitement, y’know? Something unexpected!

Tori: Well, I don’t exactly have a checklist of requirements. I figure, if I make a connection with someone, I’m willing to explore it further. I just hope I find someone worth holding on to.

“We’re not just friends, you know, that right?” Alex tried her best to contain her smile. “You’ve been my best friend for as long as I can remember, but you’re more than that. You’re my family, Chazz. You’re like a brother to me.” 

“I feel the same way Alex,” Chazz reached over and hugged her. “What’s brought this on? Usually, it’s me who's the more sentimental one!”

“Well,” Alex beamed. She couldn’t contain her delight. “I don’t want to raise our babies in a world that doesn’t have you as an official member of our family. So, Thomas and I would like you to consider being our daughter’s godfather.” 

Chazz grinned from ear to ear. 

“I know how much you love Alex and how much you have helped her and protected her over the years. I trust you will show our daughter the same care and devotion,” Thomas added. “Though I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my concerns about the dangers your partner poses to the safety of all parties aforementioned.”

Alex rolled her eyes and elbowed Thomas. “We trust you completely, Chazz! And, if Crash is your future, we know he will love our children too! We trust you both!”

“I don’t know what to say,” Chazz teared up. “Of course, I will! It would be a privilege.”

“How long have you been standing there?” Addison blushed.

“Long enough to enjoy some of your baby talk,” Ethan chuckled.

“I would be embarrassed, but those two are the cutest things ever,” Addison swooned turning her attention back through the hospital nursery window.

“Which ones are theirs?” Ethan asked, moving closer to Addison. 

“The most beautiful ones, obviously,” Addison gushed. 

“Clearly,” Ethan offered, scratching his head lightly. 

“Those two,” Addison beamed. “My beautiful goddaughter, Felicity Camryn and her handsome brother Vincent Alexander.” 

“How’s Alex?” Ethan asked.

“She’s doing great. Thomas is with her now. I had to pry him away from these two precious angels, but I told him that I would not let them out of my sight, not even for a second,” Addison said proudly.

Ethan let out a low laugh. 

“What?” Addison questioned.

“How weird is this?” Ethan asked. “I can honestly admit that never during my time at Hollywood U did I ever think I would be standing in the hospital looking at Professor Hunt’s children.”

“The world is funny like that,” Addison marveled. “One day you see someone as one thing, and somehow time changes it. I think this has been for the best. I’ve never seen him this happy before. It’s nice.”

“On that, I must agree. Hunt has come a long way. There were days at University that I wasn’t sure he could even feel joy.” Ethan shook his head. “I guess finding that special person makes all the difference.”

“Yeah,” Addison breathed.

Addison and Ethan remained silent as they kept watch over the newborn twins. 

“They’re going to bring Felicity and Vincent back to the room in a minute if you want to come join us,” Thomas broke the silence, startling Addison and Ethan. As they turned to face him, their hands brushed against one another.

“I don’t want to impose,” Addison shrugged.

“I am fairly certain Alex will insist,” Thomas began. His eyes were the brightest Addison had ever seen. His typically rare smile was far from fading. “And, I also insist. Thank you for everything, Addison.”

Addison���s eyes filled with tears. She loved her goddaughter and her brother so much already. Addison moved quickly toward Thomas and wrapped her arms around him. Thomas stood motionless for a moment before offering a light pat on her back. “Congratulations, Professor. You’re going to be a great dad!”

In what was a rare moment, Thomas wasn’t sure how to react. His instinct was to push her away, but somehow she had become part of his extended family and while he might not love it...he also didn’t hate it. Addison had proven herself loyal and that was a quality he valued greatly.

“Congratulations!” Ethan offered Thomas his hand. Thomas happily shook it, thankful for a return to his comfort level. 

“I’m going to go with the nurse to take the babies back,” Thomas explained. “Why don’t you take a coffee break or get something to eat and meet us there in like fifteen minutes?”

“I can stay,” Addison offered. 

“You’ve done enough. We appreciate it,” Thomas admitted. “Take a few minutes off and we’ll see you there.”

“Addi!” Alex rejoiced as her visitors came. “Ethan! I heard you were here!’

“I know you must be so tired and as much as I love you and those two perfect babies, I want to give you time with them and I guess Thomas too,” Addison teased. “Let me know if there is ANYTHING I can do for you.”

“We will,” Alex smiled. “Thank you! They already look very comfy in their Addi original knit caps.”

“Congratulations, Alex,” Ethan placed a small box on the table beside her bed. “For later.”

“Thank you,” Alex replied, shifting in her bed as Vincent stirred in her arms. She pressed her lips to his forehead. He was absolutely perfect.

“We’ll get out of your hair,” Addison suggested.

Alex nodded. “Bye Addi. Ethan! Thank you for coming!”

“Goodbye preciouses,” Addison blew kisses toward the twins. “Aunt Addi loves you!” 

“See you later,” Ethan nodded toward Alex and Thomas, before turning his attention to Addison. “Do you need a ride home?”

“I was just going to call a car,” Addison replied. “I don’t want to be trouble.”

“Addi, I know you and you love to be trouble and cause it!” Ethan smiled brightly. “But, in this one case, it would be no trouble and my pleasure.”

Addison smirked as she thought of all the ways she and Ethan had caused trouble in the past.

Ethan held open the door for Addison and let her precede him. Alex could hear their conversation return as the walked down the hallway. 

“I ship it,” Alex grinned as Addison and Ethan left. “Could love be in the air?”

“How did you come up with that?” Thomas questioned half-heartedly. His attention enraptured by his daughter in his arms. 

“I just have a feeling.” Alex’s gaze followed where Addison and Ethan had once stood. “I had the same feeling about you and look how that turned out.”

“I love you, but don’t even think about meddling,” Thomas insisted, giving her a knowing glance. “They had all of University to figure it out. It’s not going to happen.”

“I wouldn’t be so sure.” Alex looked down at the beautiful baby boy in her arms and then to Thomas cradling their daughter. “Sometimes, people just need a little more time to admit to themselves that love is worth the risk.”
