LIV golf is actually a new golf tour out of Saudi Arabia where a bunch of the best golfers in the world have now sort of defected to from the PGA because they can make a boatload of money.
LIV Golf is a professional golf tour financed by the Public Investment Fund, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia. The name "LIV" refers to the Roman numerals for 54, the score if every hole on a par-72 course were birdied and the number of holes to be played at LIV events. Wikipedia
So I imagine they think they'll get viewers because so many of the best golfers are going to be on the tour.
Yeah, my dad's talked about it a bit (avid golfer), he's not enamored of the new tour or the players who have joined (and their reasons for joining), and there may be others like him, but, I'm sure there are still plenty of people who will watch.
(Just reread the press release and realized David Feherty is one of the announcers and now I'm torn. I don't like LIV or what it represents, but I could listen to his voice all day!)

A day in the life March 20,2023
Monday. March 20, 2023. 8:48pm. Journal entry;
“Came out of a dream this morning that insisted that I remember the name “David Gharretee, golfer.”
I googled it just now and came up with David Feherty, golfer. He had a golf TV talk show in which he would interview famous golfers.
So, why would I dream about his name? Dunnoh. Maybe it’s about getting your product out into the media flow .
(I had never heard of David Feherty before and I have no interest in golfing.)
Yesterday, I gave a guy who  had just been released from jail a coat in the jail parking lot before I went in to visit clients as it was really cold. I let him use my phone to check on his ride. I gave him a business card. He was a white male about 35 years old.
This evening, I checked my voice mails.  The Mother of the man  I gave the coat to had called to thank me for giving her son a coat. And, they may call re: my legal services.
That call makes everything worthwhile.
The practice was clicking until about 3pm when I ran out of steam.
I hit the Manteca  Cal Fit gym treadmill.
I came home. I blogged an entry from 11/4/2017 regarding the death of my partner Jim, the death of coffee houses and homeless encounters.
End of entry

Bangor receives city status in Princess Anne visit
By Mark Simpson | Published 2 December 2022
Bangor in County Down has formally received city status in a ceremony attended by the Princess Royal.
The ceremony took place at Bangor Castle with Princess Anne unveiling the city's official warrant.
City status was granted by Queen Elizabeth II to mark her platinum jubilee, three months before her death in September.
Bangor is now one of six cities in Northern Ireland, along with Belfast, Londonderry, Armagh, Lisburn and Newry.
Princess Anne said it was "always a pleasure" to visit Bangor, reminiscing on her previous trips in 2013 and 2016.
Tumblr media
She spoke about Bangor's historical importance as a centre of learning, noting its appearance on the medieval Hereford Mappa Mundi as "civitas benair" (city of Bangor).
"I can only apologise for taking so long to make sure that in fact you are now properly a city in 2022," she said.
The princess praised recent investment in the area, adding that she hoped city-status "provides a real boost to these exciting plans".
Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris was also at the event, which was hosted by Ards and North Down Mayor Karen Douglas.
Mr Heaton-Harris said he hoped city-status would attract visitors and boost the economy.
Tumblr media
Bangor was one of eight UK towns elevated to a city in May after a competition in which it was required to show its royal associations and cultural heritage.
Its application pointed out that in 1961 the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh visited Bangor Castle and had lunch at the Royal Ulster Yacht Club, before the duke raced in a regatta.
City status is often associated with having a cathedral, a university, or a large population.
However, there are no set rules for being granted the status, which is awarded by the monarch on advice of ministers.
Twenty years ago, Lisburn and Newry were awarded city status in a competition to mark the Queen's golden jubilee.
Tumblr media
In the 2011 census the population of Bangor was just over 60,000.
It is situated beside the coast, at the mouth of Belfast Lough.
A number of famous faces come from Bangor, including the lead singer of Snow Patrol, Gary Lightbody, author Colin Bateman, golfer David Feherty and artist Colin Davidson.
Nobel Peace Prize winner Lord David Trimble, who died earlier this year, spent much of his early life in the town, attending Bangor Grammar, one of 19 schools in the area.
In the past it was a seaside resort which was popular with day trippers and tourists who gathered on the beach in front of the town.
In the late 1980s a marina was built, transforming the seafront.
Tumblr media
Like many places it has been hit hard by the building of shopping centres on the outskirts of the central district.
There are plans in place to try to rejuvenate Bangor, with the hope that its new city status will help.
The city's courthouse was recently turned into a music venue, and other projects are in the pipeline.
Bangor's road signs will not change immediately to reflect its new status as a city - they will continue to refer to "town centre".
"Officials are content to liaise with Ards and North Down Borough Council representatives to consider a possible phased renewal of signs in conjunction with any replacement of signs the council is responsible for," said the Department for Infrastructure.

2021 Ryder Cup: A Tale of Triumph
Tumblr media
Redemption was the theme of the 2021 Ryder Cup.
The mainstays of the previous Cups were all getting longer in the tooth, change was in the air, and the next generation was ready to reclaim international glory for the stars and stripes.
This is the story of the plucky underdog captain's picks that brought home the 2021 Ryder Cup.
Tumblr media
The golf cognescenti were abuzz on the practice range the days before the tournament kicked off. The press who cover golf year round were used to watching professionals methodically and precisely work their way through the bag, with the occasional ballstriking show up on by a range rat.
But as one writer noted, "the American side sounded like an artillery barrage, while the Europeans sounded like a Senior PGA range." Padraig Harrington told Ian Baker-Finch the Europeans were a club and a half shorter than the US, and weren't as accurate either.
"We're going to have to show top form, or this might not last past Friday."
***
Tumblr media
The tone was set from the first tee.
Jon Rahm is not a golfer used to being outdriven. Especially not by the likes of the Tour's 67th ranked driver, Ryan Gooseling. The first two holes, Rahm hit ideal drives only to find himself 15 yards behind Goose. After an attempt to prove a point went disasterously wrong, Rahm found himself three holes down.
He just couldn't match Ryan Gooseling's intensity.
Tumblr media
But Don Quicong was the real star of the opening day. He'd already holed out from around the green twice, but his eagle on 13 from an incredibly sloped lie to close out a dominating match will go down as one of the greatest shots in Ryder Cup history.
David Feherty said that he hadn't seen a determination to get to the hole like that "since Tiger Woods was taking Drivers Ed."
***
Tumblr media
Oliver Anthony's putting woes manifested themselves all weekend, giving the Europeans a foothold. The psychological game of golf can be brutal, and it wore Anthony down in the opening group on Saturday.
Wasting an incredible performance from Quicong, Anthony's missed putts on 12, 13, 15 and 16 kept Westwood/Fitzpatrick in the match. Anthony's missed putt was positively Van de Velde-ian, and the man crumbled. Quicong left greenside immediately without waiting for his partner, a tremendously controversial gesture.
Tumblr media
The Rahm/Garcia pairing was Europe's most powerful combination, and US captains decided to send out one of their weakest groups as to focus their hot players elsewhere.
Big Bill Taft didn't get that message.
A career journeyman his whole career, 2021 was a revelatory year for Taft. Riding a savvy short game, a white-hot putter and solid ballstriking, the only way you could say that you didn't see his PGA win coming was if you weren't watching.
Rahm's driving woes continued, evidenced by him trying out three new drivers on the range after the round. Taft didn't let Anthony's earlier putting woes get in the way, averaging 12 feet per made putt. After a wicked curling 22-footer to clinch, an obviously frustrated Garcia could be seen talking to European captain Harrington about the pairing.
It was a relatively moot point regardless. The Europeans were in too big of a hole to realistically have a shot at winning the Ryder Cup. And the frustration was all over their faces.
If the European team had any shot of winning the 2021 Ryder Cup, they could afford to lose two matches.
***
Tumblr media
They won the first match. Jon Rahm closed out their match by the 12th hole. It was a particularly frustrating tournament for Anthony, who was truly excited about representing his country.
Things suddenly started to turn the Euros way. Winning the next match, tying the one immediately after, the Americans needed to make a crucial putt on 18 to stem the bleeding with a tie.
Tumblr media
After two more tied matches, the next pairing could essentially make or break the Ryder Cup. Sergio Garcia facing off against Don Quicong, the undisputed star so far, in a matchup that had golf fans salivating.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After one of the most dominating Ryder Cup performances in golf history, Don Quicong started the celebration for the American side early. The rest of the tournament was a formality, a victory lap for the United States.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
***
And that concludes the story of the plucky underdog captains' picks that singlehandled won the United States the 2021 Ryder Cup.

David Feherty hoping to 'p*ss off at least one viewer' or more ahead of LIV Golf's sophomore year
David Feherty is set to continue his broadcasting career with LIV Golf on the back of a five-year deal with the rebel golf league. The once controversial PGA Tour commentator has landed with a new home. Seths Cut: My first Equip Expo rodeo
There are a few things that are certain in Pensacola that you will have to deal with at some point - tree removal and tree trimming. Before you hire a Tree Removal Pensacola company you should take into consideration before hiring a tree service company. Some of the things you should consider include: - The type of tree that needs to be removed - The size of the tree - The location of the tree - The condition of the tree If you are unsure about whether or not you need to hire a tree removal company, contact https://treeservicespensacola.com/tree-removal-pensacola/ for a consultation. We will be able to assess your situation and give you our professional opinion. A walk across the Big Four Bridge and a pizza from Parlour in Jeffersonville, Ind., has become a post-show tradition for LM EIC Seth Jones. If you have time to kill before your flight home following Equip Expo next year, you know where to find him — drinks are on him. (Photo: Seth Jones) I once again concluded my week in Louisville with a solo walk across the Big Four Bridge into Indiana. With a few hours to kill before my flight home, I grabbed a bar stool at Parlour and ordered a pizza, some of their smoked wings and a cold beer.  It was hard to get settled in and collect my thoughts about the week I just had at the inaugural Equip Expo. So much was packed into one week. It started on Tuesday with a media-only event at Churchill Downs hosted by Greenworks. It ended with a supply chain panel discussion that our magazine hosted, one of the 11 educational panels we put on at the show. In-between? Three super-memorable dinners (you know who you are). Dozens of meetings and presentations (some were better than others — you probably don’t know who you are). A firework show at Louisville Slugger Park. A selfie with Trace Adkins and reconnecting with David Feherty. And the cherry on top, 11 successful educational sessions hosted by my team at Landscape Management. Just … wow. Even the incredible pizza at Parlour couldn’t do the moment justice.  In this business … We’re in the business of providing education and insights to our readers, but this was the first time we were asked by an entity like Equip Expo to be their exclusive magazine partner presenting educational seminars at their event. By the end of the show, my team and I addressed almost 1,200 people hungry to learn from our network of industry experts. I said this many times when people asked me how the show was going … it was our first Equip Expo in name only. But in terms of what we were doing at the show? It really was our first rodeo, and I’m happy the bull didn’t buck us. In fact, my team stepped up so much that we are already making plans for how we can make 2023 bigger and better. A 5-star week My first joke of the week may have flopped (“Welcome to the Trace Adkins fan club panel!” — might have been a little too early in the morning for that one), but otherwise, I felt like just about everything went smoothly. OK, my lunch with LM columnist Jeffrey Scott almost ended in disaster when a rolling cart of salads toppled over right behind me. But everything else was just about perfect. Come to think of it, my 2022 Equip Expo experience didn’t really end with that panel about the supply chain. It ended with me trying to get an Uber from Parlour in southern Indiana to the Louisville airport. It turned out a Friday night Luke Combs concert had the city in an uproar and a fierce traffic jam. When my Uber driver finally pulled up, he told me, “Bro, I almost didn’t accept your ride. But I saw you were trying to get to the airport, you have a 5-star rating and my guess is you’ll pay the toll over the bridge to save us both time … and you probably tip.” I laughed and told him that after the 5-star week I just had, no traffic jam was about to slow us down.  The post Seth’s Cut: My first Equip Expo rodeo appeared first on Landscape Management.

Palmetto Championship. Wes Roach Leads.
Wes Roach shot -7 under 64 to lead the Palmetto Championship at Congaree in South Carolina by one shot. Wes is leading a PGA Tour tournament for the first time; “It feels great, hard work paying off a little bit. It’s just 18 holes and there’s a long ways to go, but I’m just going to do my best to stay present out there and just continue to hit quality shots.” “I did everything pretty well. I…

2023 World Amateur Handicap Championship
Tumblr media
Christopher Rainey Captures Flight Winners Playoff At PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com World Amateur Handicap Championship Christopher Rainey from Drums, Pa. shot a net 68 (gross 99) to win the Flight Winners’ Playoff at the 40th annual PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com World Amateur Handicap Championship Friday at Grande Dunes Resort Course. There was a five-way tie for first place at -3 before Rainey made a net birdie on the par 4 18th to earn the win, finishing one shot ahead of Joe Day (Conway, S.C.), Samuel Bland (Surfside, S.C.), Tom Fahringer (Valrico, Fla.), Mike Zeeb (New Carlisle, Ind.). Christopher Schultz (La Porte Ind.) fired a three-round total of 209 to best David Hunt (Orlando, Fla.) by nine strokes to win the Men’s Gross Division title. Russell Burnham (Dallas, Texas) edged Daniel Constantino (Greer, S.C.) by two shots en route to victory in the Men’s Senior Gross Division crown. Mark Gardiner (North Salt Lake, Utah) finished seven strokes ahead of second place Michael Barclay (Cartersville, Ga.) to capture the Men’s Mid-Senior Gross Division championship. Heidi Rittenhouse (Smithfield, N.C.) cruised to victory in the Women’s Gross Division, finishing 14 strokes ahead of second-place finisher Beth Gutteridge (Rindge, N.H.). Mike Zeeb (New Carlisle, Ind.) and Brock Zeeb (New Carlisle, Ind.), a father-son duo, combined to win the Casa de Campo Pairs Competition. By virtue of winning, the pair received a 4-day, 3-night stay at the luxurious Casa de Campo and unlimited golf. Entry into the event, which included at least four rounds of golf, nightly admission to the World’s Largest 19th Hole and a gift bag, was $699. There were 3,200+ participants this year with over 40 players from the Villages. Hurricane Idalia shortened the competition on Thursday with players hunkering down for possible bad weather that never really developed. The World Am places players into 11 divisions – men 49 and under, senior men (50-59), mid-senior men (60-69), super senior men (70-79), seasoned seniors (80+), women (59 and under), senior women (60+), the gross division, senior (50+) gross division, mid-senior (60+) gross division, and women’s gross division. There is also a “Just For Fun” flight, created for players who want to enjoy the World Am experience without the pressure of competition. After four days of play, all flight winners and ties will advance to the World Championship Playoff at TPC Myrtle Beach, an 18-hole shootout that crowns the event’s winner. While the competition initially lures players to the tournament, it’s only part of what keeps them returning. At the heart of the World Am’s appeal is the camaraderie among its participants and much of that kinship is fostered at the World’s Largest 19th Hole. Each night of the event, the 19th Hole overtakes all 120,000 square feet of the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, providing participants with free food and drinks, live entertainment, celebrity guest appearances, a golf expo and more. Among the big names that have appeared at the 19th Hole in recent years are David Feherty, Brandel Chamblee, Charlie Rymer and John Daly. Players also received a gift bag that included a polo, a pullover, a golf towel, a logo hat, a PGA Tour Superstore gift card, and an assortment of other goodies valued cumulatively at $250.
