thank u for the tags @thenn & @huramuna!
1. How many works do you have on ao3 (or masterlist)? - none currently, but i’ve been focusing on two wips as of late!! i’ll be cross-posting them on archive of our own, wattpad, fanfiction.net, and here sometime soon.
2. What’s your total ao3 word count? - ^
3. What fandoms do you write for? - mainly a song of ice and fire/game of thrones/house of the dragon. i have some ideas floating around my noggin for star wars and harry potter, but i’m doubtful they’ll ever be posted
4. Top five fics by kudos - none until i get off my procrastinating tushie and excavate my fics from the drafts
5. Do you respond to comments? - every single one bc i fear my body yearns for validation like water...
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? - definitely my wip set during the dance of the dragons, very tentatively named moth to a flame 🤭
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? - i’d refer to it as bittersweet > happy, but i’d say my agot wip, witching hour
8. Do you get hate on fics? - i have not and i pray i never do
9. Do you write smut? - i have not... yet 😈
10. Craziest crossover? - feeling so vanilla rn saying no to all of these questions, but i have not partaken
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? - unfortunately 😵‍💫
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? - i haven’t, but i’m definitely open to that once i’ve posted!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? - not for one singular fic, but i am working on an asoiaf series of connected fics with my bffie @thenn! it's called the dream for dawn 🌄
14. All time favorite ship? - definitely maerwynn/pate/jon, aka the main ship of witching hour 🤭 they’re poly (bc jon snow is a bi king) and my fun way of subverting the love triangle trope!
5. What’s a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? - probably my jedi: fallen order wip, sol invictus ☀️ the main oc is a force-sensitive bounty hunter whose name is jeska sol, and she’s paired with inquisitor au!cal kestis bc that has always been very sexy to me
16. What are your writing strengths? - felt too Cocky to answer this myself, so i relied on @thenn (as per usual)... according to miss dani, my ocs and lore changes/additions feel unique but still merge well with canon, and i tone-match grrm’s writing style very well (“u could ghostwrite twow and ados and no one would notice”). she also says house weir is easily her favourite original house. yes i have tears in my eyes, next question please
17. What are your writing weaknesses? - dani says my downfall is continuously writing the same 10 chapters over and over again bc i think they’re no good. and she would be right
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language? - all good, as long as a translation is included!!
19. First fandom you wrote in? - this just unlocked the deepest, darkest memory... my friends and i used to write pokémon fics together in the first grade. we'd even print them off using the school printer and disperse them to the class. i wish i could read them 🥲i can still see the stapled pages and the comic sans font in my mind's eye, and i KNOW there was a dramatic arc of ash cheating on misty with may
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? - definitely witching hour, coming soon to a tumblr near you 😝

GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS this is teainabowl AND IM BACK WITH MORE NONSENSE AS PROMISED. family crisis almost averted?? i havent slept in 2 days but lmao who cares. (you cant see me rn but i want you to know that im doing a happy little jump skip dance as im writing this)
BECAUSE!!!!! ok. lets talk about genderbending in fandom. i think what usually gives me the ick in those fics is they do nature vs nurture wrong??? like a lot of the time they’ll just change the NATURE of the character and use the different gender as an excuse which. idk idk it runs me the wrong way. BUT QUENN!!! shes very much still theon?? just, nurtured differently. am i making sense? i have been traumatized by some bio-essentialism bs in the past when trying to look into similar fics bc i love gender fuckery PEOPLE JUST DONT GET IT LIKE I DO (or you, appearantly hkdhhfjh i love your story it means so much to me)
and asoiaf is SUCH a gendered world??? like it has so much untapped potential where even a single characters gender can have SO MUCH IMPACT (can you imagine if joffrey had been a girl?? or if sansa had been a boy???)
but what originally started my spiel was the realization that jon wouldnt have gone to the nights watch if he was a girl. and. what then?? slightly horrifying tbh, and makes me wonder if one of the other character had been male (read; they had been given more agency and autonomy in their lives) what would have changed???
but back to jon, bc then i immediately thought, ok, lets backtrack a bit, who would jon even BE. bc a lot of jons character revolves around his (lack of) a relationship with catelyn, his siblings mother. but she would have a harder time avoiding him if he was a she, right?? am i making sense???? a girl isnt seen like as much of a threat to her children i thinks?? idk i love cat and jon so much a love picking apart their relationship bc bc bc ARGHhhgg yk? also i like to think of ned being haunted by lyannas carbon copy who happens to be great with swords (would he be permitted to practice swordplay??) idk
ANYWAYS no we come to the part where i tie it up to what you mentioned in your answer. bc as much as JON being a girl might change his relationship with cat, it would be much more fucked up if it were robb, me thinks. (i too am a bit guilty of using robb as an accessory to cat) but but but. are. are you seeing my vision. catelyn stark with her three daughters when ned leaves for the greyjoy rebellion. catelyn whos convinced that the reason her husband wont send his bastard away is because she cant give him any sons. in the books she calls bran her special little boy and. idk the double meaning this would give it. and bran!!! being the heir!!! hiw would that change things??? would the reception to his accident be different?? and speaking of, what about king robert and his obsession with joining his family with neds? i havent talked about how robb (robyn?) would be different in this au but i cant think hed be as pleased as sansa was? his first shown interaction with joff is him trying to curb stomp the fucker lmao. i dont think he would be likely to have a different opinion bc of gender changes. in the books hes often rash and impulsive and prideful, and id want him to keep those traits, but peoples reactions to them would be different?? and so he would shape them in different ways??? am i making sense i feel like im just rambling. this is getting way too long and wayy to incoherent i need to stop. ok bye for now ill be back (threatening)
GO TO BED!!!! GET SOME SLEEP!!!!! But yay! to family crisis averted? Maybe?
Okay. I'm gonna indulge in some haterism for a second cause I've actually poked around the ASOIAF genderbending tag quite a bit. Unfortunately, a lot of those fics? Lame as hell. There's a preponderance of genderbent Jon Snow, which I think is totally cool! Very interesting genderbend to explore because of how much it changes the trajectory of his story. But then the character isn't really written as Jon at all? Maybe I'm just picky about characterization, but oftentimes fem!Jon just becomes this cookie-cutter "strong/feisty" female protag and it's like...
Tumblr media
Sorry. I'm being mean. Obviously, there is no singular "correct" take on a given character, as we're all influenced by our own experiences and perceptions. My take on Theon isn't the exact same as yours, or goddcoward's, or Ashen's, or GRRM's. A unique Theon exists in all our heads, each one a bit different from the others.
But! Genderbends are so much more fun when you can see the underpinnings of the character you know, and there are moments where those aspects really shine through. And it's like OH!!! (pointing vigorously) THERE THEY ARE!!!! Otherwise, why not just write an OC, or adopt a minor character with very little canon characterization? (Admittedly, this can become a problem when you start collecting minor characters like Pokemon cards. I am my own evidence of this phenomenon.) If it ain't Jon, then why have it be Jon at all, y'know?
ngl female Joffrey has been rattling around in my brain lately... 👀fem!Joffrey would definitely be betrothed to Robb, which would be a complete and utter shitshow (appreciative/affectionate). Joffrey as a true mini-Cersei has such insane juice to it as a story idea, especially considering that Joffrey never liked Cersei all that much lol... the mother-daughter dynamic would be BONKERS.
Back to Jon though:
First, you're definitely right that fem!Jon wouldn't be seen as much of a threat to her siblings as Jon was. She would probably be married off pretty quickly once she came of age, as high as possible for a woman who was bastard-born. I don't see Catelyn liking her per se, but Catelyn wouldn't have the same misgivings about her as she did about Jon. Since fem!Jon probably wouldn't become the vessel of the wildling/Others plot, she might have an interesting role to play if she went south... to marry Robert's royal bastard Edric Storm, perhaps? I could see Robert "having his Lyanna" by marrying fem!Jon and Edric. But then shit hits the fan with the usual plot of AGOT, and maybe fem!Jon gets taken hostage by the Lannisters in King's Landing? Or gets caught in Renly's shit since she was with Edric at Storm's End? I am NAWTTTT talking myself into writing another fic. Go to hell. I need to finish Sow the Tide first.
fem!Robb (Robyn between myself and goddcoward) is even crazier. Catelyn would NOT be fucking happy to have Ned's spitting image hanging around Winterfell, while all her sons are under 10 and have the Tully look. I could see Catelyn successfully arguing that Jon should be fostered out, perhaps in the Vale (as a favor on the part of Jon Arryn)? Like, oh, Ned, you and Robert became such good friends fostering together in the Vale... that way, Jon is waythefuckoverthere and can't make any allies in the north.
I'd love for Robyn to have some of the same anger and pride, and she'd probably be similar to Catelyn in that she was raised as the heir for a good bit of time before the "real" heir came along years later (Bran+Edmure). Also, Catelyn would absolutely NOT trust Theon around Robyn. Not At All. Kinda fair though? Robyn would also be older than Sansa was in AGOT, so I think she'd be at least a little bit more worldly and pick up on Joffrey's... Joffreyness. Robb/Robyn are still dutiful characters, but I think there would be a lot more immediate friction between her and her betrothed. Double genderbend Throbb is my true love, however (Quobyn my beloved).
I've gotta finally go work on chapter 40 now, so I can't answer everything, but do come back... I'll be here... revolving all of these genderbends around in my head...

umm not me back again to request another Jon Snow fic bc you absolutely positively SLAYED the first one hello 👁️👄👁️
there is simply not enough Jon Snow content out there and it is a scam!!
anywho, if you would like to write it, I was wondering if you’d do something based on the reader standing up to absolutely anyone who refers to Jon as a bastard bc me personally I wouldnt let that slide but also bc he literally has a heart of gold why are people so mean?? and I think it’d really hit him cuz nobody, even his family, take issue with him being called that majority of the time and when he was younger it really got to him. so maybe like him and the reader were childhood friends so she KNOWS it got him fucked up and even as he gets older and cares less about it SHE DOES NOT and WILL NOT take anyone calling him that and she wont hesitate to raise hell when people mistreat him even tho she has no physical strength to speak of but Jon’s still like 🥹💗
as per any request I give you, please please please do not feel pressured to write it if you dont want to for any any reason at all!! I hope you have a lovely day!! 🥰
hi love!
first of all, thank you for the kind words, you’re so sweet. second, i’ll totally still write this, but i have a few other requests rn that i’m working on so it’ll be a minute.
i wanted to let you know tho that i do have fics already posted with plots similar to this for other characters. since it is so similar, im giving priority to my other requests rn, but im totally down for accepting any other requests you have. i do really love jon, and im happy to write for him or for any other ideas you have. very much agree that it is a scam that there’s no work out there for him, and i’ll take one for the team and write it.
idk if you’re into house of the dragon too, but i do have a jacaerys x reader up rn that’s pretty much this plot.
im also currently working on a daenerys x reader, but the reader is a stark (kinda) and was raised as a sister to jon. that will be up soon too, she deals with being called a bastard and jon being called a bastard.
again, i’ll totally still write this if you want me to, but it’ll be a minute, and i just wanted to let you know what’s going on. thank you for sending this in :)

i do not have the time or energy to write this but. on the off-chance someone will pick this up. asoiaf/mdzs crossover pls pls pls it would be so good and there are 0 on ao3 rn!!!
just. ok so ik crossovers have kind of gone out of style recently but they're so much fun! they're also just. a really fun way of exploring differences/similarities in how different medias explore certain themes (eg both asoiaf and mdzs have a lot to say on the feudal system, privilege, morality, honour, fucked up family dynamics, redemption, etc but they also focus on different aspects of these themes) and exploring characters via parallels.
putting a bunch of fun character meet-ups below the cut ❤️
like. ok so one thing i think mdzs does that asoiaf doesn't so much is looking at how a character's concept of honour is shaped by privilege. by which i mean - i want to lock jgy and/or xue yang in a room with ned and/or stannis and see what happens.
or speaking of honour - both properties explore the fact that things aren't just black-and-white. God. thirteen-year-time-skip era lwj talking to ned 🥺🥺🥺. or post-canon lwj talking to stannis if u want something less heartbreaking - altho you would have to put in plot reasons for lwj to not just leave.
or if we want to think more parallels - hi wwx and dany!!!! oh my god!!!!! and also when it comes to parallels it doesn't actually need to be those particular characters interacting - eg dany would immediately remind lwj and jc of wwx.
like. concept - for plot reasons, post-canon lwj and jc end up in planetos and have to grudgingly cooperate to get home. they turn up in slavers' bay (either where the portal dumped them or on their way to asshai to find a way home) either in the middle of dany's conquest or soon after she's decided to stay in meereen. then - oh god massive fight over whether to stay or not that very quickly turns into a fight over the resentment they have for each other over the whole wwx-wens debacle. i mean the parallels are obvious - dany = wwx, slaves = wens, dragons = yin tiger seal, etc.
lwj: we should stay to help. this girl is doing the right thing and we should help her.
jc: um, no??? we need to get home and not just abandon the people we love for some strangers. going against orthodoxy never works, she can't win this fight permanently. everyone will turn against her, she'll lose everything, and so will the people who care about her.
lwj: if the people who care about her stand with her then maybe she will win this fight. and even if she doesn't, if they really care about her then they'd prefer to die with her rather than profit from abandoning her.
jc: well maybe they have other people they care about as well and standing with her would put those other people in danger and if she really cared about them then she would stop this madness and come home
dany: im getting the feeling this isnt about me.
anyway they end up staying - there are slaves from all over the world here, maybe someone has useful info; these are very old cities, maybe there's useful info to be found here; waiting for the dragons to grow and then flying to asshai is def safer and might even be quicker; idk the important part is that they stay and want to help. and then maybe it all goes a bit better bc jc actually has experience in ruling and like. rebuilt lotus pier from basically nothing. + lwj to help with doubts and uncertainty. just. i want good things for dany 🥺🥺🥺. also they're used to wwx so their opinions on crucifying the masters would probably be along the lines of like. wow so restrained.
anyway i havent even gotten into like. jgy + jon snow or tyrion which. well i think jgy's main response to jon would be 'oh you think you had it bad???' but he might be more sympathetic to tyrion. or actually it might be more like 'youre just like me (derogatory)'. ugh what an idiot so pathetic he thinks he can get his father to love him ://. unless they meet post-tywin's death. someone: wow can't believe you killed your own father. jgy: well maybe his father was a dick.
also would love a meet-up between jaime and jgy or wwx. the whole - wow ok im evil for doing these things but its fine for you to profit from them?? un fucking believable. why are you mad at me for killing this guy everyone wanted to kill him. wwx could fix jaime, jgy could make him worse.
anyway this got very long but pls other people add on to this 🥺🥺

"The wind flapped her skirts up and bit at her bare legs with cold teeth. She could feel snowflakes melting on her cheeks." "Drifting snowflakes brushed her face as light as lover’s kisses, and melted on her cheeks. [ASOS; Sansa VII]". Its interesting that when she made snow WF, snowflakes were implying romantic tones. Later in same chapter snowflakes were associated with negativity as her aunt tried to killed her. Also her aunt implied that Vale isn't her home.
This is a really good observation because this is why we all come to radically different conclusions when interpreting the story, anon! I run into this problem a lot because martin uses things in different ways. To me, the key is to pay attention not to a single word, but the context of how it is used. For instance, it’s a common thing in movies and books for a thunderstorm to be ominous, to be the setting for grief, tragedy, violence, and yet, a gentle rain shower is used for levity, joy, a romantic moment. Both involve rain, but they communicate very different things.
Martin does this with fire. It’s life, it’s death, it kisses, it burns, depending on the scene it has a very different connotations, depending on the character it has a different meaning. He allows things to mean both, not one thing, so it’s rarely as simple as we might like. So, yes, snowflakes appear in both scenes, but what’s important is how Martin situates them and what he chooses to relate them to.
Just as rain can be used for different things, snow/snowflakes can. It isn’t enough to see how it’s used in one place, you have to see if the interpretation you develop for the one instance is supported or contradicted elsewhere if you’re claiming authorial intent. I actually did go through and start to compile thoughts about how snowflakes are used once, but I don’t have those notes rn, so it is something I will have to return to later.
However, there are several mentions of snowflakes melting on cheeks in an early Bran chapter in which Martin is very clear about his intention:
A light snow was falling. Bran could feel the flakes on his face, melting as they touched his skin like the gentlest of rains.
and
The joy Bran had felt at the ride was gone, melted away like the snowflakes on his face. Not so long ago, the thought of Robb calling the banners and riding off to war would have filled him with excitement, but now he felt only dread. "Can we go back now?" he asked. "I'm cold." (AGOT, Bran V)
and what Sansa suffers is a more dramatic version of this transition:
Drifting snowflakes brushed her face as light as lover's kisses, and melted on her cheeks. At the center of the garden, beside the statue of the weeping woman that lay broken and half-buried on the ground, she turned her face up to the sky and closed her eyes. She could feel the snow on her lashes, taste it on her lips. It was the taste of Winterfell. The taste of innocence. The taste of dreams. (ASOS, Sansa VII)
 to
"The lady lay a-kissing, upon a mound of hay," Marillion was singing. Sansa twisted sideways, hysterical with fear, and one foot slipped out over the void. She screamed. "Hey-nonny, hey-nonny, hey-nonny-hey." The wind flapped her skirts up and bit at her bare legs with cold teeth. She could feel snowflakes melting on her cheeks. (ASOS, Sansa VII)
Melting snowflakes are tears and misery elsewhere:
The hour of the wolf found him still awake, wrapped in layers of heavy wool and greasy fur, walking yet another circuit of the inner walls, hoping to exhaust himself enough to sleep. His legs were caked with snow to the knee, his head and shoulders shrouded in white. On this stretch of the wall the wind was in his face, and melting snow ran down his cheeks like icy tears. (ADWD, A Ghost in Winterfell)
but they’re very romanticized later, and in conjunction with that “She could feel the snow on her lashes, taste it on her lips,” and this quote:
"You're not scared?"
The girl smiled in a way that reminded Jon so much of his little sister that it almost broke his heart. "Let him be scared of me." The snowflakes were melting on her cheeks, but her hair was wrapped in a swirl of lace that Satin had found somewhere, and the snow had begun to collect there, giving her a frosty crown. Her cheeks were flushed and red, and her eyes sparkled.
"Winter's lady." Jon squeezed her hand. (ADWD, Jon X)
I think it’s undeniable that the first of Sansa’s snowflake quotes is not just dreamy and lovely but romantic and indicative of Sansa’s future.
The really familiar melting snowflakes imagery is Robb related. Arya, Sansa, and Jon each remember Robb with melting snowflakes in his hair. That particularly struck me with Jon because when he says goodbye to Sam, Martin uses a similar idea.
"So do you, Sam. Have a swift, safe voyage, and take care of her and Aemon and the child." The cold trickles on his face reminded Jon of the day he'd bid farewell to Robb at Winterfell, never knowing that it was for the last time. "And pull your hood up. The snowflakes are melting in your hair." (ADWD, Jon II)
When Martin repeats himself in different POVs or repurposes something this way, we know it’s deliberate so we can study that and come to conclusions about his intent. Jon’s last memory of Robb in his goodbye to Sam makes this so painful. 😭
So, yes, snowflakes are used in many ways which means we can’t just assign one meaning to them. We have to look at the descriptive words around them and where they’re melting etc. Sometimes they’re good, sometimes they’re bad, sometimes they’re representing familial love, sometimes more romantic, sometimes they’re joy, and sometimes they’re tears and grief etc.
Anyway, you’re right about Lysa’s comment!
"I don't want her here." Her aunt's eyes were shiny with tears. "Why did you bring her to the Vale, Petyr? This isn't her place. She doesn't belong here." (ASOS, Sansa VII)
I think this may be a moment when a villainous character is right. Sansa doesn’t belong there. She belongs in Winterfell.
Thank you for the message! <3

The More You Learn, The Less You Know
"I know nothing." That's what I say to myself when I'm stuck. It's my go-to Socratic writer's block motivational quote. Most writers usually have that critic inside trying to bait them into procrastinating or, worse, giving up when they hit a crossroads in their writing. It happens to me when I start overthinking and ask myself, "what happens next?" What a scary thought. If my character chooses door A, they might not complete the journey I started them on. If I choose door B, they might lose some of their uniqueness that makes them relatable. If I decide on door C, oh, screw it, I should just give up because I'm lost! And despite all the screenplays I've read, books I've obsessed over, and podcasts I've listened too I still don't know what to do next. If you're a writer, I know what you're thinking "Sounds like my Tuesday night breakdowns."
We all agonize over the choices our characters make. We all start to feel like we know nothing. We're just a bunch of aimless Jon Snows with our mighty ink swords roaming the backwoods of creativity in our minds looking for the perfect scene to write. But it doesn't have to be that hard. First, admit to yourself that you know nothing: "zero, zip, zilch, nada." If you know that you know nothing, then you're teachable. If you know nothing, there's an answer, and there's a tool out there somewhere that someone has created for you to learn and use ad nauseam until you get sick of it or learn to use it appropriately. Sounds too good to be true, right? That's just your inner critic at the wheel. Slap that judgmental procrastinator and get back in the driver's seat.
I know nothing, but I do know this...dun dun dunnnn! The more I learn about writing, the less I feel I know. Not because I forget tools or rules, even though sometimes I do, but because I understand that the world of writing and the ways to do it are endless. I can keep learning! It's ok to pick a writing book like "Save the Cat" and attempt to write a "paint by numbers" type of screenplay. I've done it, and I made a pretty funny, some would say, a decent little indie flick by just trying it out and learning from it. I find most screenwriting books to be equals because you can learn a new tool from any of them.
"Give us a tool already!" I feel you murmuring, reader, so here's some practical wisdom.
Marry Your Scenes
One of the biggest reasons we get stifled as writers is because we don't remember one fundamental guiding principle of storytelling: causality.
Causality? Yes, causality, the relationship between cause and effect. The principle that everything has a cause.
Every choice we force our characters to make should have a consequence, and therefore the consequence can help you set up your next scene. I don't want to over-simplify this, but let's see what happens if I do. If two people get married, what happens next? What comes to mind? Do they celebrate with their loved ones? Good? What else? What happens next? Do they go on their honeymoon? Great! What happens on their honeymoon? They make love? Excellent, or one of them gets too drunk, leaving the other to order room service and watch an overpriced movie. It's very much like a domino effect. Each one of those events happened because of the one preceding it. Marry your scenes to each other and understand why the choices are being made–and what consequences can occur because of them.
Where do you go from here? Well, if we use our newlyweds, maybe our sober character leaves the room to get some ice or puff a "J". This could lead to their getting arrested by island police without identification in her wedding dress. Or if it's the man, he runs into his high school girlfriend who's on a business trip on the same island and wants to go for a drink to catch up. All of this is just because one of our characters couldn't monitor their alcohol. Consequences to actions, to choices, are everywhere in your writing. Write a few and pick the most interesting ones. Which ones are those? The ones that make you smile, laugh, cry, or squirm. All of which will lead you to the next scene.
Background on These Thoughts
During the pandemic last year, I was fortunate to get a reduced price "writing scholarship" at the Jacob Kruger writing studio. On top of that, I started learning how to speed read so that I could consume as much written writing advice as possible, never to have an issue breaking a story or creating a helpful scene.
Consequently, I started writing more and more every day without fear of messing up or writing a bad scene. Could it be because I was reading and writing every day? Was I applying all the little things I was learning? Was it slowly becoming second nature? The answer's; yes. I read everything! My wife, an exceptional RN, was in the ER fighting off the plague. My industry was shut down, so as I stayed home with our kids trying to keep from going stir crazy, I read books and articles to them out loud until they started booing me or to myself, until my eyes needed a break. I read many things on Dan Harmon's story circle, the: "But & Therefore Rule" by Matt Stone and Trey Parker, listened to John August and Craig Mazin, and went on Kiingo's Instagram live discussion to participate, and see what else I could learn, watched old movies, new movies, read scripts I was a machine.
I have since written and co-written three feature-length screenplays, a handful of pilots, live-action and animation, and a couple of short films. Writing is HARD, but finding rules and tools to apply to your writing isn't.
Rule-Tools
Here are a few things I picked that were reinforced and to keep in mind when writing a scene. In every scene, you must know what your characters want and what they need; if you know their wants creating an obstacle that fuels causality is pretty straightforward.
So try the following:
1. If you know what they want, GIVE IT to them, and therefore what is the consequence? (There are many)
2. If you know what they want, but you DON'T GIVE IT to them, what is the consequence? (There are many)
3. If you know what they want, but GIVE THEM SOMETHING NEW instead and see if this stops them from wanting their original want. (How strong is their want? Strong enough to continue to pursue it? It better be if your movie is any good.) What is the consequence? (There are many)
4. If you know what they want, GIVE THEM a part of it but make them sacrifice something for it, and therefore what happens? (Maybe it's too expensive, maybe it's too embarrassing, perhaps it could hurt someone they love.) Consequences just start falling out of the sky once they MAKE A CHOICE!
Try applying one of these four rule-tools to your scenes and watch as your characters create their story and structure for you. I promise it works. Next time I'll show you how to combine these rule-tools to something like Dan Harmon's Story Circle.
Then again, I know nothing.

if you ever wrote that rant about grrm making jon his chosen one deconstruction i'd be very happy to read it 👀
hello anon sorry for the lateness but here we go *deep breath*
sssooo, I had once ranted about it though not mentioning the thing I mentioned in those tags so lemme see if I can find the op and like... cp the main argument and amend it bc it was long, but okay so I found it, original anon asked me: why is Jon considered to be one of the most special characters grrm created? Why is he not the typical hero of fantasy books?, my original answer was here if anyone wants to go there but basically lemme just cp the first part making it shorter and then I'm adding:
first thing, the Typical Post-Tolkien Chosen One With A Shitty Life Before He Finds Out He Is Chosen™ character (I’m saying post-tolkien because every fantasy writer in existence who copies tolkien thinks that lotr went like that and instead it didn’t) usually goes through the following steps: his life sucks up until the beginning of the series, his family generally hates him/her or doesn’t appreciate them or abuses them or anyway doesn’t make their life easier and they’ve never known any different, but *something* never quite worked right and they always knew something was missing in their life, they just didn’t know why. suddenly someone who knows they were Chosen™ shows up and tells them that they’re actually Special because of this this and that and they have a quest to go on to save the world or something. our hero/heroine obviously is finally validated and while their quest is hard and full of hardships and maybe they lose a few friends along the way, finding out that they were Chosen gives their life meaning, they usually find love/friends/everything they didn’t have before until they fulfill the Prophecy™ and live more or less happily ever after, possibly after hooking up with the Person Of Their Dreams with whom they had UST up until the last twenty pages of the book. basically: being Chosen™ in regular fantasy novels is a good thing because suddenly you’re special and all the crap you suffered acquires a new meaning and in the end it made your life better.
jon snow is a complete overhaul of about everything in this sense because
instead of having a family who hates him he has a family who actually mostly loves him, and with ned it’s arguably so much that he risks royal treason by keeping him hidden from his *best friend* - sure, there’s cat and peripherally sansa, but his issues stem from the fact that he feels lesser because he’s a bastard (as far as he knows) and it’s a *class* issue, not a *my family hates me* issue not counting catelyn obv but that's what gives him freudian issues more on that in the emended part later
no one actually knows that he’s Chosen™ - like mel could get there and probably will and someone will put two and two together when his parentage comes out in the open, but he doesn’t have a gandalf or mentor who shows him The Way Towards His Quest
so instead of going from ‘my life sucks but I’m going on a quest which is gonna be a+’ he actively chooses to leave a fairly decent situation (a household he knows, siblings who love him - ned actually hoped he’d become robb’s counselor or right hand man or something from what we can gather) because he feels like he has to prove he’s better than his name and goes to the Crappiest Place In Westeros. like idk if people grasp it, but the wall is basically a prison and at the ripe age of fourteen he decides that it’s totally a good and honorable choice (his only choice actually) to go defend the realm in the freezing cold along with a bunch of criminals/derelicts/rejects of society
at which point he makes friends among said rejects and let’s remember that it’s the point where he actually has to do his first an only privilege when donal noye made him go like hey you were brought up with nobles these ppl are here because they stole bread, and that helps making him more into the person he is rn but like your tyopical fantasy hero who has had a shitty life doesn’t usually have to acknowledge that other people might have had it worse
then he goes on the Quest where he finds his first One True Love, and that’s where it turns even worse because usually the quest is where things start to go right for the Hero™, instead for jon they start to go wronger, because first he has to go undercover which pretty much tests most of his belief/code system, he falls in love with a girl he has to betray, half of his friends and his lord commander die along the way, while he’s off doing his thing winterfell gets taken/burned and robb dies when jon openly stated that he also was going to the wall to defend his family and keep them safe (yeaaah worked out real well), when he goes back to the wall he has to fight the people he lived with for months, the woman he loves dies in his arms and he can’t do anything about it and he’s aware it couldn’t have gone any other way, people put defending the wall on him and then put his loyalty in question, when stannis shows up with a legitimization (which is everything he ever wanted) he refuses because he doesn’t want to accidentally steal his siblings’s inheritance (which was what cat was so worried about hahaha) and actively chooses the crappy defending the realm life all over again. also in all this time his being Chosen™ hasn’t manifested or helped him in any way whatsoever - actually all his honor-moral code related baggage is what  moral dilemmas come from that. like, your usual chosen hero™ would always take the right decision and it all turns out good eventually, jon takes the morally right decision and it all turns SOUR eventually
at this point he finally gets elected LC, thanks to his friends also pitching in, which is about the one fantasy hero™ thing that’s happened for now. should be good, yes?
lol no, because he ends up with THAT hellish responsibility at sixteen, since he thinks that he has absolutely to be even better than that now and he has very specific notions about how you should lead and he knows he has to take unpopular decisions/decisions that he doesn’t necessarily like, he ends up either having to send his friends away forreal (sam) or detaching from them (pyp/grenn/the likes) and when as far as he knows he learns that his sister is married to ramsay he can’t do anything about it
never mind that it’s the same situation as when he had to pick the watch or robb in book one - he went there to defend his family and now being there actually prevents him from helping them in person. ops. meanwhile he’s trying to implement a new vision of things which is modern and smart and actually makes sense because why fighting the wildlings when you have ZOMBIES coming. your usual Chosen One™ would get people to approve just because he’s the Chosen One
instead jon gets stabbed to death - okay, that was also because he wanted to go get arya but it was the last straw, people were pissed over the wildlings plan first and foremost
so basically he’s gone through all the Chosen One™ steps but in reverse - he loses his family which did love him instead of finding another one that makes the first pale in comparison, he does find a new one who loves him but has to alienate most of its members for responsibility reasons as a consequence of what should have been the crowning achievement of his life choices (which eventually is NOT one), he falls in love and they don’t drag the UST forever but they never get a chance to be together without small print in between, he chooses the admittedly most masochistic life he could for his family as well and half of them die and he can’t do a thing for the other half, every other mentor-like figure he runs into after ned dies, instead of finding validation he ends up having to isolate himself and on top of everything HE STILL DOESN’T FUCKING KNOW HE’S THE CHOSEN ONE™
so instead of his life going better the more he learns stuff and matures as a person, he gets murdered. by the people he trusts and who were supposed to be his new family. haha?
never mind that when he finds out he’s the Chosen One™ it won’t bring him closure because all he ever wanted was being full stark like his father/siblings and then bam he’s going to find out his father’s actually targaryen and what does that even mean to him?
on top of that being AA will just be a pain because I don’t believe for a second he’s not going to get leftover ptsd and who the hell is gonna help him deal with it? or how is he ever getting over his *brothers* murdering him? and people are going to ask stuff of him all over again and he’s gonna have to go slay a mythical monster and if I know grrm it’s not gonna be fun, pretty or cathartic FOR HIM
on top of that, Chosen Hero™ fulfills the prophecy and gets a realm to rule and everyone lives happily ever after. money is that if jon does get that realm (and I think he is because he has the best claim if he's legitimate and most likely it'll turn out he was on the targ side but ROBB also legitimized him so he has double the legitimization), he’s going to hate every second of it and he’ll take it because a) duty, b) literally no one else is available, and like this guy didn’t want to rule a realm or be a king or anything he just wanted to be a stark, and instead he’s going to have to after all that shit thanks to Magical And Noble Heritage he hadn’t even known he had and probably didn’t even want up to that point because since when jon wanted to be a targ? yeah since never
obviously I hope he manages to be somewhat happy regardless because the alternative is too miserable, but basically being a Chosen Hero™ is what makes jon’s life worse rather than better and the fact that hew went through all the regular self-discovery journey for the fantasy hero list doesn’t mean he’s not flipping that over in his sl. the fact that he stayed a decent person more or less throughout it and that he hasn’t turned into a bitter asshole also doesn’t change the main point XD
tldr: jon snow is not a typical fantasy hero because he deconstructs that trope into tiny little bits same as robb deconstructed the arthurian flawless king hero trope
now ^^^^^ THAT was what I originally wrote for that meta but adding on to what I said in those tags
okay so... there is a certain tendency to also make the chosen one™ special in the sense that he's kind of goals - good looking, rich or set to inherit, gallant, takes the initiative, he's like.. social or anyway immediately makes friends etc and all that jazz which jon... doesn't really fit
like jon is an introvert who immediately makes friends just with outcasts and his siblings also bc he feels like one but he's hardly a social butterfly and charms everyone wherever he walks by
I mean ffs says all that the only person he charmed in that sense is stannis who is the literal only person in charge in the books who is more introvert than him and has worse communication issues and appreciates ppl going straight to the point
on top of that in the book he looks like ned.... and arya looks like ned and ned isn't described as being particularly handsome that was brandon so he's not even like... I mean kit h. is v. pretty and I think he was a good choice for the role and I'll die on the hill that he was born to play that character and he did it well but book!jon doesn't have that kinda pretty face so the concept that he's the HOT alternative to anyone to me is kind of iffy bc he's not
he's shit at social interactions and at PR which is why robb and him would have been a key winning ticket like he has a better idea of the larger picture but robb would have actually made sure ppl didn't turn against them bc he actually was good at that but like he doesn't go around rallying armies in his name does he
the one time he's been with a girl it was ygritte and like he courted her without realizing it and then she had to pursue him and he barely knew wtf to do on top of the fact that they slept with ghost in the middle of them like a sword which..... is.... I mean sleeping with the sword in the middle was a thing to make sure the maiden stayed a maiden and he's the one who is like i CAN'T HAVE SEX WITH HER EVEN IF I WANT TO BECAUSE I'M TECHNICALLY SPYING ON THEM like... he's not... gallant-knight coded
never mind that the moment they do the do she basically does everything until he decides to try the oral which I mean... isn't exactly alphadominatingmale out of jon which is not a given with the trope he's supposed to represent like he's not smooth he's not suave he's like WHAT THE FUCK when ygritte tells him he has a pretty face bc most likely no one else told him that and he like... doesn't pursue people like that in general which is also not exactly 100% what that trope usually goes for
we can add that he has a lot of passive-aggressive little shit sarcasm in him that they didn't let him go for in the show but like... usually chosen heroes™ don't think what he thinks about selyse in general
we can also add that he's not automatically above being better than his position like... he doesn't take winterfell bc ygritte is dead but he did think he'd have taken the deal sansa or not if stannis had said he could marry her and not val and if she wasn't dead, he basically went off the rails at the dude he was fighting with thinking about robb telling him that he couldn't be lord of wf because he was a bastard and he's absolutely not in the frame of mind of 'well I was born a bastard who cares it doesn't define me'
he's obsessed to the point of unhealthy with actually being defined by it which is why he was better off with the wildlings aka the only idiots in the realm who don't gaf about that
and that's like... I mean usually if chosen ones™ have parental issues it's like 'you were an orphan and raised by asses who weren't your parents but your parents loved you and you'll find out at some point and you'll be happier for it and make your own family', jon is like... he has the mommy freudian issues of the century bc of how cat treated him, on the other side he's obsessed with living up to ned's/his father's name and he hates that it makes him not-belonging or that he feels like he doesn't even if he does with his siblings, and at the same time when the truth about it comes out he's going to get the cold shower of the century bc like - he's spent all that time thinking BUT DID MY MOTHER WANT ME WHO WAS MY MOTHER and he's going to find out of who it was and how he was born and honestly considering that lyanna most likely did regret running with rhaegar the moment he finds that out and that she died birthing him how is he going to feel? - also he spends his life wanting to live up to his 'father's' name aka ned aka someone known to be honorable to a fault and then it turns out his bio father is... the dude who started that entire rebellion not doing a very honorable thing? - also if jon*erys is a thing idt that he'd take 'I fell in love with my aunt' so nonchalantly as he did in the show tldr: he's never gonna get over his parental issues in a short time and when that particular brick hits him in the face it won't be pretty
like the entire point of jon is that he goes through all the chosenone™ cursus honorum as we'd call it in high school when studying latin but each step that means smth good for the usual chosenone™ to him is something bad, being one is not going to make his life better and throughout the entire thing he does not fit that stereotype when it comes to look, personality, basic traits and familial history and like hell he's going to have the happy ending tied up with the bow - like I think he gets a bittersweet one and eventually goes off with the wildlings bc he belongs there after being jon snow first of his name (bc like hell he's not reclaiming his bastard background at the end of this entire mess I'm eating my hat if he doesn't) after splitting the seven realms and fixing things but that's hardly the neat happy ending the chosenone™ usually gets so that's my two cents
... christ this was long *raises hands*

Does Jacks write? When he thinks about Chrysi, how does he describe in her in his mind? Would he jaywalk? Would he jaywalk and make Chrysi jaywalk? What love songs (or other songs) remind him of her? About what time does he wake up? Is he the type of person to wash his face with cold water because he knows hot water, although more soothing, is supposedly bad for his pores? And, to spare you from more weirdly specific questions: what's the first thing that would come to mind when someone asks what he loves about Chrysi?
I hope the ungreat vibes go away soon;;
THESE QUESTIONS HAVE ME CHOKING RN, MIRI. Thank you for sending them <333
Does Jacks write?
I don’t think he does artistically, but… actually, I don’t know if he would at all. Unless he’s incredibly drunk or otherwise out of his mind. Then, and only then, he writes sonnets. Exclusively. He burns them when he’s of the right mind, but Chrysi will sneak some of them away and hide them in a drawer with their Polaroids before he gets to them.
When he thinks about Chrysi, how does he describe her in his mind?
“Lovely and furious hellcat.” He doesn’t dare call her a hellcat out loud. Chrysi would slaughter him. Also, he’ll sometimes wax a little poetic about her eyes (“Sunrise in the center of a rose” and all that jazz). LET’S NOT OVERLOOK HIS FIXATION ON HER LIPS AND KISSES. Constantly thinking about how, though his kisses are mythically considered dying for, he’d die for Chrysi’s a million times over. Whore.
Would he jaywalk? Would he jaywalk and make Chrysi jaywalk?
The two of them walk across the street carelessly, hand in unlovable hand. When Jacks jaywalks, he doesn’t do it very carefully, but when with Chrysi, they both look both ways and BOLT.
What love songs (or other songs) remind him of her?
Jacks is listening to Kiss from a Rose by Seal on repeat while sprawled on the floor, staring at the ceiling, and thinking exclusively of Chrysi. “My power, my pleasure, my pain” ? Very much how Jacks thinks of Chrysi.
Honorable mentions:
Aglow by The Rare Occasions. It makes him think of them walking in the snow up in the Magnificent North. Disregard the fact that he was half-asleep due to briefly being a vampire. The memory is still halfway there.
Tether by Sleep State. Reminds him of the fact that he feels tethered to her, and he knows he should hate it, but he loves her too much, and now he loves being close to Chrysi too :’((
So Close by Jon McLaughlin, simply because this is the peak concept of yearning while still being incredibly close to each other and slow dancing. Enchanted still has a chokehold on me all these years later, I fear. Let Chrysi and Jacks slow dance properly pleaseeee, and let them be the prettiest couple in the room.
Also How to Be a Heartbreaker by Marina. Doesn’t she know what she’s doing to him <//3 This ruins the vibe of the other songs, but I was listening to it earlier and I was thinking exclusively of ChrysiJacks and how she toys with him so frequently.
About what time does he wake up?
I firmly believe he wakes up at 11 a.m. daily. He loves sunrises, loves the sun, but this bitch is out until long past midnight every single night. He’s not waking up any sooner. Chrysi’s already finished all the stuff she needs to do. (I will say that Jacks starts waking up earlier and earlier because he can sense that she’s not in the bed with him in his sleep. And he’s a clingy bastard that needs to be hugging his girlfriend at all times.)
Is he the type of person to wash his face with cold water because he knows hot water, although more soothing, is supposedly bad for his pores?
Yes, I think he’d wash his face with cold water, but I don’t think it’s because of its health reasons. I think he’s just dramatic (and it helps him cool down after he and Chrysi get close, but she doesn’t kiss him. He’s going to scream.)
What’s the first thing that would come to mind when someone asks what he loves about Chrysi?
That she is both ruthless and good. The combination of those traits is appealing to him, and proof that he doesn’t totally need to change who he is to be considered a better person. Not that he cares about being a better person. He just wants to kiss Chrysi.

For the salty asks: numbers one, five, six, and twenty through twenty-three please 😇
I live for the chaos so pls just... go off my dude
Ah Tay, reason #187893467 that I love you is that you indulge me in my rants <3
Salty asks are from this post!
K this got LONG so here's a read more!
1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
Honestly even though I don't multi-ship often I DO usually get the appeal behind ships so this is a really short list. This will probably get me some hate but I still to this day can't get behind c/ex@ from the show that will not be named. But then again I do get the appeal of two super attractive women with chemistry and the whole ruler/ girl who makes the ruler change their ways thing. So I guess I get it even if I don't like it?
Also, and this is not to hate on Hinny, but Harry and Ginny from HP are not my cup of tea. I like what fandom has done for them but the actual content we get for them in the books (and movies, but I prefer the books) isn't enough for me to love them. Same with Mal and Alina from S & B/ Grishaverse, they're so bland to me in the books but the show is doing far better with them and actually making Mal ya know. Likeable. Again, I don't ship it, but best friends to lovers is top tier so I get it.
Oh! I also don't really get Dwalin/Ori from The Hobbit, but that is probably in large part because I'm a Dwalin/Nori shipper. Again though, all of the secondary characters' relationships in The Hobbit rely on fans to extrapolate HARD and wear extreme shipper goggles, and ik there's that scene where Dwalin helps Ori out of the river so like.. maybe that's where it's from? I don't hate it or anything but it's always something that's made me go ??? cause I have no idea where the heck it came from.
Apart from that... I can't think of any rn? I feel like I understand where all the PJO ships come from, even if I don't ship them. There are a couple that I don't understand how they can be someone's OTP, just because I find them super boring (no offense to those who ship C@leo or J@siper but I just don't love how Rick handled those relationships). In TSC I think fandom mainly vibes with the same pairings and that's true for most of my book fandoms. With the shows I watch I don't think fans majorly ship anything too out there for me. Maybe I don't interact enough with fandoms to tell. So this is all I got.
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
Oh my god, oh my god, this is a can of worms, my lord. A pairing I'm not so sure about, but characters? Abso-fucking-lutely. I took a break from PJO fandom for exactly that reason and the list of characters is endless honestly, for multiple fandoms.
I won't say fandom ruined Bell@rke for me cause I still ship it, but I definitely lost enthusiasm with how toxic the shows fandom was and then that was made even worse when the show completely destroyed itself with the worst writing and plots ever in the latter seasons.
Also I have a feeling that G@me of Thrones/ @soiaf ruined one for me but I can't remember this very second. Maybe not, and again that's probably cause I don't interact with fandoms en masse, usually just through fic and following a few people I vibe with in each.
6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?
Yes, quite a few! I used to dislike Drarry (for obvious reasons I feel) and Romione (as a kid I wanted Hermione to be with Harry and even when I grew out of that I really didn't like she was with Ron) but fandom changed that for sure. And same with Darklina now, I was upset cause I felt like the books really underutilized their relationship and fell short of what could have been a super awesome pairing if better explored, but the show fandom is taking it in so many different ways that I'm starting to really love them despite the reasons I shouldn't.
And I won't say I hated Hayffie in THG, but definitely the only reason I ship them is from reading @ellanainthetardis's fic Have a Drink Sweetheart and then all the others written for them. That portrayal of Hayffie and the characters have become my own headcanons now because I've been reading them for so long and they're so good.
Fandom made me ship Leon and Morgana from Merlin too, though that's very lowkey. I never hated them, I just never thought of them as a pairing until reading fic.
20. What is the purest ship in the fandom?
Percabeth. I don't care which fandom, it's Percabeth. Growing up together, going from enemies to friends to best friends to lovers? The establishment of them being best friends and the way Rick wrote that friendship was so pure, and they are a couple with no internal problems, all external, and you just know they're gonna be together through everything, fighting at each other's side, cause that's the way they are. There's a reason they're my OTP and it's cause they are the most well-established, ride or die couple I can think of. They're just so solid.
21. What are your thoughts on crack ships?
Love em for fandom but personally I very rarely get behind crackships just because I usually need a lot of build up, scenes, good dialogue and chemistry, etc. to ship something, so most of my ships aren't crack ships. The only one I can really think of that I actively root for and ship and would read fic for is Billy/ Owen from 911 Lonestar which is just... something.
Like idk if Barduil from The Hobbit is crack because ik it's quite popular... what makes a ship a crack ship anyway? Lack of canon reference? Is it cause they two characters would be so random together because they barely ever interact? Or because it's SO unrealistic you know for sure it will never happen but want it to anyway? Or is it lack of popularity in fandom? I need someone to define this so I have a better answer :D if it's the second option then I have MANY
I love seeing fandom stuff for crack ships though, cause seriously, it's fiction, ship who you want. If you ship two characters just cause you think they're pretty side by side then that's enough for me. Make all of the fan art and fic you like.
22. Popular character you hate?
Oof. Jason from HOO. And Leo in everything after The Lost Hero. I hated Piper in The Lost Hero and Mark of Athena but like her after those. I don't like any of the book characters from S & B except Nikolai, but I like everyone in the show (except David? Why did they make him so weird? Like he's not even awkward, he's straight up rude imo, but anyway). In @soiaf I don't like Jon Snow, I think he's boring. And I despise Jorah Mormont cause I think he's creepy for having a crush on Dany.
Didn't love Stefan in TVD, too much of a goody-two-shoes. I liked dark Stefan but it felt like a totally different character. Honestly most of the characters I don't like cause they're boring or too by-the-book.
OH! A big one in M@rvel is Captain America. Can't stand him honestly, I like him as a character to have in the story, but I like never agree with him on anything. I like a couple of his one-liners but that's it really. I also don't like Gale in THG, idk if that's controversial. Or Lex@ from the show that will not be named because I think she's manipulative and not good for any of the characters i DO love.
Is Ron popular? I think so. I like fandom Ron but not canon Ron and idk why. I think I'm growing out of it but I read those books when I was like 7 initially so I thought it was awful of Ron to stop being friends with Harry because he was jealous and I never really got over that.
There are so many but I'm gonna stop now.
23. Unpopular character you love?
Again, tons. I love anyone whose got kind of a tortured backstory because it makes them more interesting to me.
I love Movieverse Hawkeye! I think Clint is great and while I wish his deafness was canon in Marvel and I don't love J Remmer, I do love Hawkeye a lot. He was honestly one of the only Marvel characters that felt consistent and in-character throughout the movies.
I like President Snow from THG just cause I think he was a fantastic villain. And Effie and Haymitch aren't unpopular, but they're probably my favourites, again because of the fics mentioned above.
Leon from Merlin!! I don't actually think he's unpopular, but he's like... my fourth favourite character in the show which I know IS considered high for most people.
Sandor Clegane from ASOIAF. Not the show, just the books. His book character is phenomenal and I am so excited for GrrM to finish the goddamn series so I know what happens to him.
The Stolls and Katie Gardner from PJO cause fandom created Tratie and sucked me in at a young age.
Bellatrix Lestrange? Is she unpopular? I don't think so but she's another one I think is a fantastic villain. I'm almost more interested in her than Voldemort tbh.
That's probably it!
Thanks so much for the ask Tay, this was tons of fun! Anyone else who's interested can feel free to fill my inbox!

Being Jonathan Joestar’s neighbour was fun. Since the day you first met, the two of you became inseparable and it was hard to imagine a world where he wasn’t by your side. It was a peaceful afternoon when you first met him. He was taking his dog out for a walk, marching proudly on the sidewalk of the street you both lived in, holding the leash tightly to prevent his dog from running away. Jonathan wasn’t older than 6 at that time but he surely was a responsible little man, putting a lot of effort in completing his task.
Unluckily for him, however, a cat dared to cut his dog’s way. In matter of second, the poor boy completely lost control over his dog and its leash. The dog started to bark loudly before starting to chase the cat recklessly, causing Jonathan to trip over and skin his knees. You were playing outside, in the front garden of your house and you saw the entire scene. You quickly grabbed your orange juice and ran towards the injured little boy, whose cheeks were flushing red.
“Are you okay?” you asked in your little squeaking voice, kneeling beside him and patting your little hand on his shoulder. Jonathan simply nodded, too busy trying his best not to cry.
You sat next to him on the cold sidewalk floor and offered him your little orange juice.
“Mommy always gives one to me if I get hurt. It helps!” you encouraged him, who whispered a soft thank you before accepting your kind offer and takin a long sip out of the juice carton.
That was the first time you and the blue haired guy met, and you never left his side since that episode.
Years passed and the bond between the two of you grew incredibly strong. The Joestar’s family welcomed you warmly since the very beginning, making you always feel at home. You and Jonathan spent a lot of time around each other; during the younger days, you either went at Jonathan’s or at your place to have some play dates. Growing up, your play dates slowly turned into study sessions and lazy afternoons spent on the couch, catching up one of the many tv series you started watching together. Over the years, Jonathan undeniably became the most relevant figure in your life. He was the first friend you ever had, and you experienced some of life’s most important first times together.
He taught you how to ride a bike. You helped him remove the first milk tooth he lost.
Little episodes like these were what really made your relationship so particular, the affection between the two of you was stronger than any other feeling you ever experienced. You never really investigated the way you felt towards each other, always justifying the reciprocal need of spending time together with the simple excuse of it being a habit. A part of you however, knew exactly the reason why you felt as if your skin starved every time it missed his touch; it was the same reason why you felt a strange sensation in your stomach every time he’d hold you in his arms while watching a movie or simply looked you in your eyes.
Admitting your feelings towards him wasn’t something you’d ever consider. You feared your confession would have ruined years of friendship – and the bond you two shared was far too unique for you to lose it.
That night, Jonathan had one of his usual boxing matches. You never quite understood how Jonathan, the kindest person of all time, could practice such a violent sport. Outside the ring, Jonathan had a very docile behaviour; he was always so kind and a very easy going person. His beautiful smile surely was his signature, it was almost impossible to catch him in a bad mood. Inside the ring however, Jonathan seemed to become a different person. The concentration that the fight required always gave him a stoic expression, which was very unusual for him. His typical gentleness seemed to completely fade away when facing his opponents – but that was part of the game; sports such as boxing didn’t have any space for weaknesses or sentimentalities.
It wasn’t usual for you to assist his matches. You hated the vision of the man you loved getting beaten up with the sole intention of entertainment; seeing him all covered in blood was something you always tried to avoid.
“I know you’re rooting for me” he said to you earlier that afternoon. “But it would be nice to have you there, you know?” he continued, while delicately tracing random patterns on your back with his fingertips. It was impossible for you not to break under his touch, and you ended up agreeing on going to the match. An excited smile formed on Jonathan’s face, who quickly pulled you closer into his arms, wrapping you in his strong, sweet embrace.
“I should say yes more often.” you chuckled, resting your head on his chest and enjoying the feeling of his strong arms around your body.
Once you reached the gym where Jonathan’s match took place, you sat closely enough to the ring. You felt your heart pounding in your chest, unable to not worry about your best friend.
When his tall figure entered the boxe ring, his eyes started scanning every face in the crowd hoping to recognise yours – and when he did, he couldn’t help but smile shyly. He quickly looked back at the arbiter of the match, trying his best to hide his blushing and starting to focus on the match.
The first rounds were okay. Jonathan seemed more than able to handle the fight – it was highly likely for him to win; but he was tired. As time passed, his movements became slower. His shoulders visibly moved up and down as he breathed, emphasising how fatigued his body was. He staggered but tried his best to retrieve some energy, and never gave up until the last minute. The match ended when a strong, well placed punch hit Jonathan’s face, making him trip down and almost breaking his nose. Jonathan’s face quickly became covered in blood and once the arbiter announced the victory of the opponent, you quickly rushed to the ring, reaching Jonathan’s body.
“Are you okay? Let me see!” you said, leaning over him who tiredly laid on the ground, still unable to catch his breath. He simply nodded in response, looking at you with only one eye open while a soft smile adorned his lips. You shook your head hinting a weak laugh, while you helped him to get up. His almost powerless body relayed on yours as you walked to the infirmary, his arched figure still a bit taller than you. After receiving the medical treatments he needed, the two of you made your way out of the gym without saying a word. You were still shaken from the sight of Jonathan’s face covered in blood, even if you knew he was fine.
The awkward silence was interrupted by Jonathan clearing his throat once you reached your car.
“Do you want me to drive?” he asked with a concerned look on his face, his navy blue eyes looking for yours.
He knew exactly how you felt. He saw how your eyes were full of fear when you looked at him laying on the ground, he knew how badly that sight scared you. Afterall, he would have felt the same way if you somehow managed to get hurt.
“Let me.” he added, reaching your hands and slowly taking the car’s keys out of your grip. Placing a delicate kiss on your forehead, he entered the car and silently drove towards the neighbourhood you both lived in. He rested his hand on your thigh during the entire trip as if he wanted to reassure you, lifting it up only when he needed to change the car’s gear. When you finally arrived, he parked the car in front of his home.
“I’ve got some orange juice.” he said keeping his hand on the handbrake of the car, letting out a small laugh to lighten the tension between the two of you. You nodded in response and agreeing to his implict invite, causing Jonathan to smile.
Walking behind him, you entered the house. He extended his arm backwards, only to reach and grab your hand as both of you silently walked into the kitchen. You sat on the table as Jonathan handed you a glass of orange juice, cheering with you before taking a sip.
“Sorry.” you finally said, making Jonathan frown. “I just worried too much. It’s not because I underestimate you, I just hate the whole concept of you getting hurt.”
Jonathan cheeks flushed hearing your words, cautiously bringing himself closer to you inserting himself in the space between your legs. Towering you, he reached one of your cheeks and cupped it with his strong hands. He left a small kiss on your nose before embracing you, letting your head rest on his chest.
“I know.”
You sighed shaking your head; you were sure he had no clue about the reason why you felt this way. It wasn’t a matter of overprotectiveness, nor it was as simple as a worrying for a friend. It was love, although this meant everything and nothing at the same time.
Without any type of warning, Jonathan muscular arms picked you up. Your puzzled expression caused him to laugh, as he walked towards his bedroom and gently laid you on his bed. He handed you one of his t-shirts and laid exactly next to you, stretching his right arm over the length of the bed ready to welcome you in his arms.
“What –“ you were just about to start ranting millions questions when you saw Jonathan shaking his head in dissent.
“Would you just lie with me and just forget the world? Please?” he said, looking at you with the softest eyes you’d ever seen – he knew you just couldn’t resist his puppy eyes. And he was right, as you agreed silently, leaning your head on his chest and listening to the calming sound of his heartbeat.
“I don’t quite know how to explain what I feel,” he said, his eyes fixed on the ceiling above you. “But I’d react the same way if you’d ever got hurt.”
You looked at him, your hands caressing the wounds caused by the earlier boxing match. Your fingertips traced his handsome lineaments: his jaw, the shape of his lips, his nose; you couldn’t help  but being mesmerised by his beauty and wonder whether he ever looked at you the same way you were doing just now. If he ever shivered whenever you touched him, if he ever felt his heart pounding in his chest just because of something you said.
“It’s not the same, Jonathan.” you mumbled with a distracted tone.
“I think it is.” the sound of this words echoed inside of your head. What did he mean? Did he know? You tried to speak it felt as if words were just trapped in your throat; you gulped, trying to not let your mind jumping to conclusions.
Jonathan attentive eyes were locked on your face, following every movement of yours in hope to decipher your emotions – did he just say too much? He cleared his throat, not knowing exactly what to do. He was just as embarrassed as you were, and afraid that his feelings would have ruined everything.
You smiled as your cheeks were boiling hot, colouring your cheeks in red. You rested your forehead on his, your eyes intertwined in his. He slowly let his hands sliding along your back, stopping them on your hips as he gently put you on top of him. You’ve never been this close; you could hear his breath on your lips, you could see your reflection in his eyes – and you never looked so beautiful.
“Are you sure?” you asked whispering as your lips formed a soft smile on your face.
He smiled in response, nodding. Before you could say anything or process his response, he leaned towards you and kissed you passionately, wrapping his arms around your body as if he wanted to eliminate any space between the two of you. He wanted you closer; closer than you’ve ever been to him.
“Sure.” He replied once he broke your kiss, unable to stop himself from smiling.

I'm losing it I think they mean anti as in "people who aren't fans of the fact that at this point we know they are closely related but people still want them together" which I feel at the least is a pretty regular thing to not be a fan of that probably doesn't need the "anti" label lmao
there’s so many goddamn anti whatevers lately that at this point i’ve just begun to assume that unless otherwise stated, “anti” usually means “person who is vocally against the gross dynamics i dont have a problem with.” idk what they meant by using it but i’m keeping a wary eye on p much anything that sounds like that lmao
but aside from whatever their usage of anti means to them, the commentary is pretty spot on. there really is no justification for jon to take the throne, and tbh i dont think he’d want to anyway. he’s pretty clear that the ass in the throne doesnt fuckin matter rn and after the problem with the night king is settled he probably still wouldnt want it. his entire character arc has been all “i gotta be honorable like papa ned raised me to be” and i doubt he would toss all of ned’s fatherly love away just for shock when sam made it pretty clear that ned put his life on the line to protect jon.
idk but i would still be RIDICULOUS pissed if i was dany, even if jon decides he doesnt want the throne. like the options here pretty much all involve lying to her or pissing her off and i gotta say even the really juicy story option of having him acknowledge dany’s hardships and just fuck right off into the wilderness to be the one being chased around and hunted sounds very on-brand,,, but then that just turns the whole deal into the jon snow pity party, soo,, not ideal.
theres no way to get out of this without dany being rightfully pissed off, and truly, TRULY, if they dont let her be pissed off i’m gonna piss on d&d’s welcome mats.

I liked this episode? like i feel like for a penultimate episode there were absolutely not enough major plot points and it was too much of a bottle episode for a season that is this short, but it was well done for what it was.
Spoilers below, just my thoughts on the different character arcs and what I think this episode did well! I know there is a lot of negativity rn so if you want some positive thoughts in general...
Dany has been heading in this direction for quite some time, and we knew last episode where she was at, and her moment with Jon confirmed it. She said it to his face. “Let it be fear.” Dany going full Mad Queen is not a surprise to me, though it was a shocking thing to witness, but David and Dan explained it so well. She has always had this part of her that allowed violence and carnage for violence and carnage sake, because it would get her where she wanted to go, and now, after so long, staring at the Red Keep, the thing she wanted in her grasp, she was going to make sure to burn everything in kings landing down around her to make sure nothing stood in her way.
I think Arya’s plot point was also exceptionally well played. She has spent her entire life fighting for vengeance, and she needed to stare down the barrel of what vengeance would bring her. She would die, in Kings Landing, away from her family, away from the North, away from Gendry, for a woman whose life isn’t worth her dying for. She had to hear it, from someone who she cared for, but also from someone who she could look in the face and see who she would become if she went through with it. She needed that. She left Braavos with the words “A girl isArya Stark of Winterfell, and I am going home”, but she needs to really live it now. Killing Cersei would bring her no peace, would give her so solace. Killing Cersei would just kill Cersei, and likely kill her in the process. She needed to finally stop being No One, to stop being Ary, to stop being a faceless man or a servant for the many faced god. She needed to just be Arya Stark, and Arya Stark is a Northern girl, a Stark of Winterfell, a girl who loves her family, who loves a blacksmith boy she met when she was a child. She needs to go be Arya, and I think that really was handled beautifully.
I think Jon’s arc this episode was also fantastic. Jon gave in last season, he bent the knee to Dany and he pledged himself and his armies to her, because he fell in love with her, but that was never a reason to follow a Queen. Ask Jaime Lannister... loving someone does not make them a good ruler. But Jon Snow has always been a loyal man who was true to his word, and thus we have this episode. I think watching as Jon started the episode pushing Varys away, telling him he didn’t want it, refusing to even hear that he would be a better leader than Dany, to watching him watch as the Queen he pledged himself too burnt a city full of innocent people to the ground was a really poignant thing to get to see. Jon’s refusal to see what she was becoming, even when she said it to his face, because he didn’t want to believe he had made a mistake, was so distressing, but also extremely well done. Jon is going to blame himself for what happened in Kings Landing, to some degree, because he brought an army of Northmen down to the capital and helped her slaughter the masses, for a throne he has never cared about. For a woman who only loved him when she could control him. Jon Snow left the North, his brother and sisters, his Direwolf, and his home to come south, and in doing so helped lead a massacre. Jon’s internal arc this episode was deftly handled with very few moments and i loved it.
I think Tyrion had a similar arc to Jon, and it was also pretty well handled, but Tyrion saw the error of his ways before Jon did, which was interesting. He freed Jaime, tried to save the city, put the lives of the people before his own even after Dany told him if he failed again she’d kill him. He watched her burn his best friend to death, for knowing a secret, not even for doing anything (she said it herself, ‘this is what happens when someone knows the truth about you’), and he listened as she basically confirmed what she was going to do, and then taunted him with his brothers capture. He realised his mistake, and had to watch as his home burned to ash because he picked the wrong side. Tyrion realising his was wrong, and having to live in that place forever, is an interesting narrative choice and again, deftly handled.
The only arc i was unhappy with was Jaime, and that’s because, though i don’t like him, i feel like they just abandoned his character development and that felt weird and stupid. but w/e. i didn’t like him, and he’s dead. End of thoughts on Jaime Lannister.
On smaller notes:
Clegane bowl was less irritating than i anticipated
Cersei is dead now, even if it was hella anticlimactic
Qyburn is also dead
Euron is dead and his fleet is gone so now we actually have Yara Greyjoy as Queen of the Iron Islands (it’s what she deserves)
Arya, Jon, Sansa, Bran, and Gendry are all alive which, tbh, is all i cared about anyway
Over all, I think the arcs that Arya, Jon, and Tyrion went on in this episode were really well done and were super great arcs for them to have gone on, and Dany finally hit the point she’s been careening for for basically the entire series. Nothing that happened (other than Jaime) was surprising, nor did anything (besides Jaime) feel ooc or unexpected. It was shocking, and I feel like it this was far too much of a bottle episode given how small of a timeline is remaining, but I think this was a really good episode over all.

( COURTNEY EATON, TWENTY, SHE/HER )┊QUINVIDIA "QUIVI" THATCH NEDAKH is the child of MILO & KIDA and they are an ONLY CHILD. they seem to enjoy living in auradon. i’ve heard they’re known to be LOYAL + SKITTISH. we’ll be keeping an eye on them to see how they’ll write their own story.
❝ I have these thoughts so often I ought replace that slot with what I once bought ‘cause somebody stole my  C A R  R A D I O  and now I just sit in silence. ❞  quinvidia thatch. twenty years old. playlist. | pinterest. | to listen as you read.
Hi guys !! I’m HYLIA , and I was here twice - both very briefly , one when I still identified under the name Robin and played a daughter of the Enchantress named Trixie , and another more recently where I wrote a version of this character as the daughter of the Huntsman , but had to leave due to unexpected mental health concerns - I won’t go into it , but it was a really awful time and I’d like to apologize for dipping so quickly. But I’m here to stay for now !! I’m going to try and make this quick since I have work in about an hour - but no promises , since I tend to ramble , so read on and don’t forget to like for a plotting dm once you’ve finished all the way through !!
BACKSTORY & BASICS.
So Quivi is adopted - the only child of Kida & Milo , a baby when he first discovered Atlantis. Her biological parents died shortly after the events of the first movie , and Kida & Milo , unable to conceive a child of their own , didn’t hesitate to take her in.
So she was raised with love & care & all the traditional values taught to the children of Atlantis , while being taught by her father the U.S.’s influence.
So yes this makes Quivi multilingual like her mother but also she can read Atlantean like her father ( since if you remember in the first movie , none of the Atlanteans can read their own language , while Milo can. )
It’s also been a REALLY long time since I’ve watched either of the movies.
She also knows Morse Code - taught to her by Packard , since I’d think Packard would know it since she was the radio operator - and ASL - which I’ll explain why momentarily.
It’s also really important to note that Quivi is selectively mute. She doesn’t speak unless in situations or around people where she’s comfortable doing so , and primarily uses nonverbal methods of communication such as writing , sign , or Morse. I will always specify in rp which method she uses.
But !! Back to the backstory , she heard of her father’s adventures ( since again in Milo’s Return there’s like... a whole sequence in where they go on crazy adventures and stuff and I haven’t seen that movie in a longer time than I’ve seen the first one but yeah ) and wanted to experience them for herself. So she went on a few !! But the most notable one was when she was sixteen , venturing with her father and his comrades into the Siberian tundra.
This was fine , until a turn for the worse rolled around when they discovered Quivi was missing.
It was a month before they found her again ; wandering around and surviving with the training of an Atlantean warrior and hunter she was given as a child. But she was extremely exhausted from her time of surviving alone - although , she did like the the cold a little more than expected.
Quivi’s aesthetic has always been like. Snow and mountains. So I had to find a way to wriggle that in SKSKSKSKSKSKSK
But also during the period of time she was in the tundra , she encountered Siberian hunters that she didn’t get along with and was on the run from them since she was an Atlantean and they hadn’t seen an Atlantean before so. Yeah. They were on her tail.
But yeah !! Tired from her journeys but a little scarred from survival , she went back to Atlantis and sort of . . . cut herself off from everyone else ?? She focused on her training , didn’t really want to go back into the outside world , and was paranoid she’d be hunted again like in Siberia.
UNTIL . . . coming to Auradon.
FACTS & STUFF
Okay I did this last time but I want to do it again bc I think it’s fun to share : Quivi is again an age-old character of mine but I want to share some inspirations since both for this group and in general she’s been developed and edited over the years ,
Harvey Kinkle ( Chilling Adventures of Sabrina )
Jon Snow ( Game of Thrones )
Kida ( Atlantis , duh )
Evie Frye ( Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate )
Link ( The Legend of Zelda )
Mulan ( Mulan )
Ike ( Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance & Radiant Dawn )
So most important fact is that Quivi is 6′4 without heels and a battle expert so jot that down
But for real she stands out in a crow both due to her height and her Atlantean tattoos - like her mother , one is on her face , but runs from her temple to her cheekbone.
She’s an EXPERT in parkour and combat. Love that for her.
Buuuut the thing is , because she’s so . . . outwardly stoic and quiet and closes herself off , she’s a little intimidating to the people who don’t know her. So she SEEMED scary to everyone else in Atlantis , but in truth she’s actually a gentle giant.
Giant because again she’s 6′4.
A little hesitant to tell people about her experience in Siberia since it was again a little too much for her at her age. She’s surprised she even survived.
And for that she has this big cloak ( think Jon Snow ) that’s kind of like... her security blanket. Her comfort.
Also carries around a big sword for that reason and yeah I won’t like she looks like an Atlantean Jon Snow when she carries her cloak and the Sword around.
The influences are high.
LOVES TO READ - she has a mountain of books in her dorm , all mainly fantasy or fiction , and sucks up information like a sponge just like her dad.
When u get close with her she’s ?? A really good ally to have ?? Again , gentle giant and extremely loyal and will care for you. That friend who has the bandaids always except instead of bandaids it’s the crystal around her neck.
Also yeah Quinvidia isn’t a real name but that’s her name in my MV and normally I’d change it to Quinn-Viktoria but... Quinvidia sounds Atlantean so YEEEEEEEE
MORE MAY BE ADDED but tbh I’m blanking and crunched for time rn
WANTED CONNECTIONS
Someone for her to Knight(tm) over... pleathe.... GIMME THAT LINK & ZELDA CONNECTION i love Zelda a lot if u can’t tell
Also just more friends in general ?? Ppl who don’t think she’s scary ??
BUT ALSO PEOPLE WHO DO BC I LOVE ANGST IN THIS HOUSE
People who’re really only trying to get close to her for the riches or w/e of Atlantis tbh give me ppl who want to use her bc of her nation’s stuff and money
Soft reading buddies...
Also again I’ll probs add more but ?? Also the basics
Crushes
Exes
Unrequited crushes
Friends
Enemies
YEAH PROBS ALSO A TBA BUT PLS FEEL FREE TO BRAINSTORM WITH ME TOO
Okay so again I don’t get home until around 5 PM EST today so I won’t be able to do replies until then - but I will draft some starters to reply to in a doc and post later !! Until then I’ll also be following folks and lurking in dms , so please don’t be afraid to say hi or plot with me on here or my discord ( @ bicon austin moon#0329 bc he is a bicon nobody can tell me otherwise ) or again , like this for me to dm you !!

Ok I have an insane theory in mind rn but let me went... What if Tyrion betrays Jaime? I rewatched the scene at the dragon pit and when Jaime and Brienne are talking, Tyrion is in the frame, between them two. He is watching, he knows. Plus the weird convo with Cersei, and him being so gullible, so OOC - and Sansa tells us that he was acting dumb, she makes it explicit in-universe. There's also Sansa using his attraction to her to manipulate him against Dany, even thouhg Tyrion knows that those
who underestimated Sansa are all dead. Again, he acknowledges it explicitly. So maybe Tyrion is being the smartest of them all? Manipulating Sansa AND Dany in thinking he’s dumb; talking to Bran in secret; and observing Jaime and Brienne. The latter could be out of brotherly love but I’m not sure that Tyrion is as pure-hearted as Jaime when it comes to their relationship. I’m probably completely wrong but I can’t unsee this option! What does Tyrion want? I feel like we all believe he’d be contenwith being Hand to the monarch, but I don’t believe it. I think he wants the throne. The only ones who don’t want the throne are Jaime, Brienne, and Jon. And maybe Arya. But if you don’t play the game, you die, like Cers told Ned :( dunno girl, I’m in this weird mindset now! but there could be a positive flip side, as in if you give up the throne, that’s when you win it (or stay alive), Cersei was wrong, which wouldn’t be the first time for her. Anyhow: sorry for the looooong ask! in the end
Hey Anon! You stopped there a little abruptly in the end but I didn’t get another mail so I hope I am not cutting you off by replying already. I love love love LOVE your theory and it is very close to my perception of the plot and the characters.
I was watching the show again before S8 started and I was reminded of how much I liked Tywin Lannister as a complex character. He’s always been one of my fave characters and I always wondered: Why Tywin, who is so mighty and so perceptive and so competent, failed so damn hard at understanging his children? The fact that he was an extremely strict and demanding father is a different story - but why was he also unfair and unloving? His show interaction with Arya proved that he too had a human side after all. He wanted to protect a young girl from the terrible fate the other captives in Harrenhal had. He didn’t care whether she was highborn or lowborn (although he found out the truth easily). He didn’t care if she was a girl. He advised and praised and talked to her all the same. He seemed like, you know, he could make a good grandfather and father. He seemed like an extremely good judge of character. Yet, he’s terrible to his children. Why? Can we consider the possibility that even if Tywin was indeed a cold, distant, demanding father, the way he treated his children stemmed from a premonition or an understanding of their characters deep inside?
Tywin scares Joffrey because he knows he’s a cowardly bully. Tywin doesn’t think highly of Cersei and prefers to marry her to one after the other and we ‘ve seen all the chaos and hatred Cersei has unleashed as a queen on her own. Tywin freaking despises Tyrion which seems the most unfair but blaming him for being a dwarf and his mother dying in childbirth is weird for a man of his square logic. What if Tywin saw something brewing inside Tyrion, something that could cause chaos in the world? Tywin hated Tyrion’s weaknesses: women and alcohol and true enough, Tyrion is very vulnerable to both. Tywin loved Jaime but had HUGE expectations from him. Literally all his expectations are for Jaime. What if Tywin again saw something that made him think Jaime was destined to be the great man he dreamed of?….And make a dynasty that would last 1000 years????
I’ve been having similar thoughts about Tyrion although I am not sure he can outsmart Sansa. Tyrion IS power hungry. The reason he doesn’t show it as much as Cersei  is because Westerosi wouldn’t take him seriously yet. He has admitted he loved the Game and the power that came with it and wouldn’t leave with Shae because he preferred the power game. The only wise advice Tyrion has given Daenerys is to not be that violent. Yet, truth be told, she was losing when she was following faithfully Tyrion’s advices. Dany can’t rule except with her dragons evoking fear. Tyrion is alarmed when men approach Dany. He convinced her to leave Daario behind. He was hella worried when she slept with Jon Snow. My assumption is that Tyrion wants to make her safely Queen and then slowly isolate her from potential suitors so that the crown will have nowhere to pass after her demise but to him. Then Daenerys would mysteriously die lol
Tyrion is selfish but if there is someone he cares about, that’s Jaime. I think Tyrion is positively surprised at Jaime’s new romance. It has a strategic importance too of course - it means Cersei loses power and if we consider that Jaime does everything for love to a stupid degree, then it also means that Jaime will pledge loyalty to the Starks like Brienne does. So, Sansa gains power. Tyrion also talks with Bran like you said - we can’t know what he told him (Bran will know exactly what to say). I wonder if Tyrion knows the truth about Jon. He certainly knows a truth now. This might make him sure Dany is a lost case and Sansa is a much better bet. If Jon is the heir, that’s difficult to fight but maybe he hopes to become a new Littlefinger and turn Sansa against Jon, who’s now “more of a Targaryen”. Maybe he would be fine just being Warden of the North.
I don’t think Tyrion is a bad man, not really, but he wants to rule like crazy, if for nothing else, just to take revenge from all those who underestimated him. I think he’ll die though. I wonder what he discussed with Cersei in secret. Tyrion has been giving too many battles for his own good - Cersei, Daenerys, Sansa…the man is a goner.  But I think someone will die before he does, probably Dany or Cersei.

If you're still taking the arcana prompts - sam for the emperor, stannis for justice (obvious choice, lol)
OKAY SORRY FOR THE LATENESS AGAIN LET’S SEE (yeah I’m like... slowly catching up oooops) have some crack for the sam one I guess ;) I’m blanking on the stannis one rn but I have it down maybe I’ll make it a third part of those two other prompts but I wanted to have this out before it took me another week to get to the rest of the ask ;) have fun!
--
The Emperor: wisdom, ego, authority, inflexibility
“You aren’t serious,” Sam stammers as he glances at each single face in the room.
Too bad that none of them look like they’re joking.
“Absolutely,” Tyrion Lannister says. “Jon Snow specifically recommended you before saying he would... take a trip to Dorne for the next couple of months.”
Sam loves Jon, he does, but - he did say he intended to not take the damned throne regardless of his surname, and yes, well, he did go to Dorne with Aegon, and Daenerys Targaryen left to go back to Essos with her dragons a week ago saying that she realized that the throne wasn’t what she wanted, and so both Targaryens were gone and fine, Stannis Baratheon lost an arm fighting the Others and said he wouldn’t press the claim further because he was tired, so they all had agreed on Shireen Baratheon taking her rightful place as his heir... except that she needs a regent.
And everyone has decided that it has to be him.
What in the Seven Hells?
“My lord,” Sam tries again, “it’s really not a sound prospect.”
“Why not?” Jaime Lannister shrugs. “Your late father was the last Hand this realm had while Targaryens still hadn’t all showed up again out of nowhere.” Sam wishes really, really badly that Aegon Targaryen hadn’t also stayed around to stake his claim, but he also was burned pretty badly during the Long Night and had decided he’d rather take a tour of Dorne with his newfound brother rather than press his claim, even if it was kind of agreed before both of them left that at some point he might marry Shireen and they’d unite their claims, and admittedly there was one good precedent of a Targaryen and Baratheon marriage, may they be the new Aemon and Jocelyn, Sam thinks -
But he never asked to be nominated for this job.
“And what does that even mean?” Sam protests. “I don’t - I barely even got half of my chain, what do I know of being someone’s regent?”
“Please,” Davos Seaworth says, “the girl is positively smitten with you and your pretty wildling wife, I think she was teaching her to read last I checked, and the last thing she needs is someone ordering her around or making her feel like she’s not listened to, and you would be good at that.”
“Also,” Brynden Tully presses on, “there has to be someone who actually has some knowledge ruling this damned realm since the last few kings were either not sound or they didn’t care or surely hadn’t revised history recently.”
“Anyway,” Jon Connington says, nodding, “you will get a new kingsguard and so on, so it’s not like you need to guard her. And from what we’ve seen you know your history, you know your strategies, you actually think before you act and you listen to people.”
“Oh, so none of you also does, my lords?”
Tyrion snorts, shrugging without sounding too sad for his predicament. “Separately, we’re all of that. But you’re the only one of us who has all of those qualities and hasn’t somehow botched their first chance at holding some authority in this damned realm. Never mind that you don’t seem like the sort who chases power at all costs. And Snow did recommend you specifically when we all wanted him, and it’s not like we can ask anyone else named Stark since they’re all counseling their brother in the North, so... I’m sorry, but it’s an offer I’m afraid you can’t refuse, my lord.”
Sam takes a deep breath.
He is going to personally punch Jon in the face when he’s back.
That said -
That said, after all, Shireen is a lovely girl, and he does like her, and she does like Gilly, and she’s very sweet, and if he gets help then he might actually not die of panic at the mere idea of doing this - shit, if his father could see him, at eighteen, being asked to be Shireen’s fucking regent, he’d never believe that.
Maybe that is what makes him half-smile and decide that maybe he could try.
“Well,” he says, “if I say yes, it means that my word is law until she comes of age and I can choose both Hand and small council, right?”
“Unless you wish to be Hand as well,” Tyrion says.
“No, that would be - too much. All right,” he sighs. “I accept.”
Everyone else in the room takes a breath of relief.
Then Sam smiles to himself again. “So, I should start with two things. One is choosing the small council and the other would be having that throne destroyed.”
At that, all eyes point to him.
“Destroyed?” Connington asks.
“Yes,” Sam says. “It’s uncomfortable, it cuts anyone who might come close to it and it only brought ill omens to this realm since... gods, probably since Jaehaerys the first died, I think we can do without. Other than that... since we have to choose the council, I should like to do it now since I am surrounded by people I have learned to know and trust.”
“Of course,” Tully says, “who were you thinking of?”
Sam smiles. “Well, as I wouldn’t want a Hand who is hungry for power and who would say things as they are, I think I want Ser Jaime for it.”
The face Lannister makes the moment Sam asks is worth the entire effort he’s going to have to put into this job for the next three years. Hopefully it won’t be longer than that.
“What -”
“You aren’t hungry for power and you would tell things as they are. Also, I know that you would say no because you cannot wait to finally end your betrothal to Lady Brienne and move to the next stage -” Lannister has the grace to clear his throat and look away, “- I was thinking of asking her to handle both Shireen’s guard and the gold cloaks. Of course she shouldn’t take vows or anything if not to you, but I need a capable knight to pick the Queensguard and to make sure the gold cloaks are better run than with Janos Slynt, and she sounds like a perfect candidate.”
“Shall I go fetch her?” Tyrion Lannister asks, sounding a bit too in a hurry to do so.
“Of course,” Sam smirks, “but not before I tell you I would appreciate you as master of whisperers. After all, you did learn from Lord Varys and you can be discreet if you want to. And I’m sure that having a Hand not wanting to murder the master of whisperers and viceversa might actually be a good thing for the realm, wouldn’t it?”
He knows he has the both of them when they both sigh in the exact same way -shows they’re brothers - and accept as long as Brienne does, too, but Sam knows she would. That’s not a problem. Then, he turns towards the rest of the room as Tyrion leaves. “Also, I should like for Ser Davos as master of laws, since he has been serving someone who has been only fair and just until now but has also shown to be more... shall we say, flexible about it.”
“Of - of course,” Davos nods, looking at him with... something like respect.
“I should hope you won’t want me as a maester of coin or ships,” Tully says. “I’m hardly a good choice for either.”
“Fair enough,” Sam grins, “but I’m sure you could help out Lady Brienne with organizing things for the cloaks and the guards around the palace. We need men with experience around here.”
“Very well,” Tully says. “You certainly are seeming to choose every single person who didn’t want to be involved with running this kingdom, aren’t you?”
Sam smiles back. “That seems to be the best way to make it thrive now, isn’t it? Now, since it seems like your son, Lord Connington, will eventually marry Shireen, I certainly cannot leave you out of the small council, that would be just improper. And since you did raise high in that Golden Company of yours, I think you should be my master of ships.”
Connington sends him a half-resigned smile. “Very well. And what about the master of coin?”
Sam smiles wider. “Oh, that can be Jon’s title when he comes back from Dorne. He did good when he was managing resources at the Watch, after all.” At that, Jaime Lannister does laugh as if he finds it very amusing.
“Hells,” he says, “we’re going to be the only council in the story of this realm where not a single person wanted to sit on. Should I send for... some maester from the Citadel, at this point?”
Sam shakes his head. “Send for Alleras,” he says. “I... knew them when I was there myself. They’re young,” he shrugs, “but they were very ahead in their studies.”
“And who is this Alleras, pray tell?”
Sam tries to not laugh. “Someone who will please the princess of Dorne very much, I think,” he says. “So, my lords, are we ready to rule this realm?”
“Absolutely not,” Jaime says, “but at least it’s going to be just for three years.”
Unless Shireen is very satisfied with us, Sam doesn’t say.
If anything, because as much as he thinks she’s a lovely girl and he’ll do his best... he really isn’t looking forward to do this job any longer than that.
