TikTok’s servers officially went down. They seem optimistic that it will come back up eventually, but chances are it won’t be the same even if it does. The TikTok CEO has been praising Trump and working with him behind the scenes, and there’s speculation that Meta bought the US side of TikTok. Unless the algorithm somehow miraculously doesn’t get changed for US Americans, it would probably turn into yet another device used to target propaganda at us.

I don’t care if you didn’t personally like TikTok, this ban is a massive violation of assembly and free speech right and basically gives the US government the ability to censor anything they deem “unsafe.” This is not about data privacy. It never was. It’s about control.

thinking about some of the tags i saw in last reblog.. i know kamala isn’t likely to do jackshit to help palestine or to radically benefit the average american in any way but the way some people like to frame voting for her as bad is really annoying. like are we looking at the same election here? are these people really just putting their performative rejection of harris over the actual real effects of another trump term, including how he would handle us support of israel? if i’m missing something feel free to explain but it seems pretty simple to me that bad < slightly less bad
