There weren't a lot of things in this world that Rafe didn’t have. His whole life, anything he wanted, he had, at the palm of his hand. Whatever he wanted, he could do. And he fucking loved it. He didn’t know what it was like to crave something to the point of madness. Until you came around.
He didn’t know what it was, that feeling deep inside his gut. He didn’t know if it was lust, or desire, or if he truly felt something for you. Perhaps he felt all three. But one thing he knew for certain. If he didn’t have you soon, he was going to cave someone’s face in. It didn’t help that you shot him down every time. The more you ignored him, the more he craved you. Albeit he knew he had a chance in high school and he didn’t take it then. But even he knew he was a prick then. More than he was now, anyway. Deep down he couldn’t blame you for not giving him a chance now, he didn’t want you when you were all quiet and had those ugly glasses, so why should he get you now that you were more confident and stopped giving a fuck what people thought about you? He had to admit, college made you hot as fuck.
Rafe didn’t know it at first, but the first time he saw you at a party, your hair all pretty, your laugh so contagious he heard it across the room, your clothes hugging every curve of your body perfectly. His jaw fucking dropped. He almost didn’t believe it was you at first. Until he heard whispers about just how fucking hot you had gotten after college. He didn’t know it then, but his sanity was going to go downhill from there.
That was a month ago, and he still couldn’t get you to give him the light of day. It was almost like you were running away from him, every time. And it pissed him off, really, it did. He craved your attention like he never before. Maybe he was getting soft. Or he was going insane. Either one.
The worst part?
You were doing it on purpose.
You caught on pretty quickly. After the first couple of times of catching Rafe blatantly staring at you whenever he saw you, you were curious. It wasn’t entirely outlandish, you were like an exotic animal, having come back to the island after graduating early from university. You didn’t change much, you just learned to manage your social anxiety and started putting more effort into your appearance. You didn’t understand why everyone made such a big deal out of you. But you ignored it for the most part.
But you couldn’t ignore Rafe. His presence was intoxicating. Even if he didn’t approach you directly. You knew he was there. But you never made an effort to talk to him. You only ever talked to Sarah when you saw her. She was the one that pointed out Rafe in a corner, Topper talking his ear off but Rafe wasn’t paying listening to a word being said, he was looking at you. You, of course, brushed her off with the excuse you gave everyone.
“He'll get over it, just give it a week.”
He did not, in fact, get over it.
He thought you didn’t notice, but he followed you on instagram. Of course you noticed. How could you not? Your account was public, but you occasionally looked at who followed you. And the second you saw Rafe fucking Cameron followed you, you almost fainted. Suddenly, the stupid crush you had on Rafe at sixteen came flooding right back. You refused to get your hopes up, but the thought of Rafe quietly stalking your social media never left your mind.
You had no proof, but over the course of a month, you posted on your stories way more than you ever did in college, because you knew Rafe would see them. If you went to a party on Figure 8? Insta story. If you went to the beach? Swimsuit selfies. Felt pretty and did your makeup? Insta story. And what did you notice? Rafe always coincidentally seemed to end up at the exact place you were at. He never came alone, obviously. But he always hung out nearby, always within your line of sight.
You were driving him mad, certainly. There's no way it was legal for you to wear a swimsuit like that. It actually made his blood boil knowing there were other guys blatantly eye fucking you. Only he should be allowed to do that. He angrily sipped into his cup, silently fuming as he had to stand and simply watch you laugh and run around with your friends, walking past him every time you got drinks for the bar.
He swore he saw you grin at him one time, a devious and flirty look in your eyes when you made eye contact with him. And he was ready to grab you by the arm and drag you to his car and fuck you right then and there. But he decided against it. Somehow he had enough self control. But it was wearing thin the longer his torture dragged on.
“Girl, what did you do to Rafe?” Your high school best friend asked you when you came back with your drinks. You frowned, tilting your head innocently.
“To Rafe? Nothing. I haven’t even talked to him since I came back.” You answered with the truth. Though you purposely ignored what she probably meant.
“He’s been like glaring at you the whole night. He hasn’t moved from there all night and he’s just looking at you.” She pointed out, more quietly now. And you couldn’t help but subtly shift your eyes in his direction. And indeed, your eyes met with his piercing blue ones. You’d be lying if you said your heart didn’t race the slightest bit when you caught him looking at you like that. He was looking at you exactly how you desperately wanted him to look at you in high school.
“No idea what you mean. He’s probably just annoyed I’m hanging out with Sarah and her boyfriend. He probably thinks I’m encouraging her hanging out with the pogues.” You mumbled into your cup, shrugging as you quickly averted your gaze from Rafe. You weren’t sure if you wanted to convince her, or yourself.
“You’re better than me, because if Rafe Cameron looked at me like that I’d be dragging him to my car so fast.” She snorted and you almost choked on your drink. “I think you’re the only girl on this island he hasn’t fucked.”
“Thank God for that.” You responded a bit too quickly, hoping to hide the slight bit of hurt her words brought to you. You always knew you weren’t good enough for Rafe. You always pretended not to care, but you’d be lying.
You left alone that night. And Rafe couldn’t hold back the urge to follow close behind you. He didn’t know when he got in his car after you. Or when he started driving to your house. Or when he got out of his car. He wasn’t sure why, it wasn’t like he was going to knock on your door. Or maybe he would. He ran a hand over his face, squeezing his eyes shut as he swept his hair away from his face, exasperated. The very small, but still present, rational side of his mind told him to get the fuck out. And he was going to, until he saw you emerge from your room on the second floor, and you stood right in front of the large window cell. He panicked, running to hide from sight, behind a large tree, but he didn’t leave, he didn’t want to.
His jaw dropped, his eyes blowing wide open at the sight of you, untying your bikini top and just letting it fall, right then and there. The sight shot straight to his cock. What the fuck were you thinking? What if someone saw you? The thought of you exposing yourself like that made his jaw lock, but his now hard cock in his shorts was much more evident. He couldn’t look away. He was pissed he couldn’t see below your stomach, especially when he saw you crouch as you presumably took off your bottoms, too.
Rafe almost moaned at the thought.
And just like that you were gone. And you didn’t come back to the window. It almost felt like the universe was playing a cruel fucking prank on him. Now he had to drive home with an uncomfortable hard on in his shorts. That pissed him off even more.
~~~~~~
This became a habit for Rafe. He would aggressively scroll through your instagram page multiple times a day, hoping that he’d find out where you were for the night. But not in a weird way. He just wanted to see you. But he still hadn’t found the way to get you to talk to him first. He was starting to see the flaw in that plan. But alas, he couldn’t talk to you himself if he didn’t know where to find you. And sometimes, he’d find himself just standing outside your window, hiding behind that same tree. Sometimes you’d sit by the window cell, play around with your hair, sometimes you would read. And sometimes, you’d walk around completely naked, in full view of Rafe. How many times he all but sped home to rub one out was actually embarrassing.
Rafe was tired of this little game. Though he didn’t quite realize it was a game at all. You had no proof, but you knew. That one time you caught him nearly running back to his car was proof enough for you. So you kept going, until he snapped. You didn’t anticipate just how fast he would break.
“Guess who showed up.” Your friend whispered in your ear. You casually glanced over your shoulder to find none other than Rafe, with Topper and Kelce right behind him like lost puppies. It had to be criminal how hot this man looked. The polo shirt he wore was hanging on by a thread under his biceps and you had to force yourself to tear your eyes away.
“Yeah, so? He shows up to every party.” You shrugged, pretending not to catch on to the blatant connection. She rolled her eyes at you.
“Oh, so he casually shows up to the one party you’ve come to all week? Don’t you think it’s a little odd?”
You shrugged again. You were sure it was a coincidence. Sure it wasn’t because you posted a selfie of your pretty makeup and your pretty dress with the location of the party you got invited to. And surely the way Rafe was staring at you right now had nothing to do with the way your dress accentuated your chest perfectly, showing enough but still leaving some to the imagination. But it wasn’t like he hadn’t seen them before.
“Nope. Anyway, want a drink?” You smiled at her innocently, completely ignoring her Rafe interrogation. She shot you a pointed look, surely she would grill you about it later, but she relented nonetheless.
With a smile you skipped over to the bar, your dress riding up ever so slightly as you leaned over the wooden bar to speak over the loud music. Rafe nearly dropped his beer, his eyes going from your hair down to your ass. He couldn’t take this anymore.
“Yeah, whatever bro. I’ll be right back.” He cut off Topper as he went on about one thing or another, he didn’t wait for a response and he approached you in long strides. He sniffed softly, running a hand through his hair before opening his mouth.
You heard your name spoken in a deep voice, with a drink in each hand, you whipped around, not expecting to run straight into a solid, muscled chest.
“Hey—oh fuck,” Rafe cursed when the drinks you were holding spilled all over his shirt, and over the front of your dress. You gasped loudly, nearly squealing when the ice cubes slipped down your chest.
“Rafe! What the actual fuck.” You almost screamed at him, desperately attempting to wipe off the alcohol soaking your dress, the front now sticking to your tits. Rafe wanted to say something, maybe apologize, but he was mouth agape at the sight of your soaked chest, it took him a minute to process.
“Shit, my bad. I didn’t mean to,” he swallowed, his own shirt starting to stick to his chest. Which didn’t slip past  you, even in your anger. But you couldn’t think about that right now. “I just wanted to talk to you.”
“Yeah, alright. I’m sure you totally didn’t want to embarrass me by spilling drinks all over me. Grow the fuck up, Rafe.” You huffed, feeling everyone’s eyes on you. You could feel your face fluster with embarrassment and you had to force yourself not to cry. You had tried so hard to remove yourself from the old you, the one everyone made fun of, the one that got asked out to prom as a prank, the one everyone stared at in disgust. And you felt like that girl all over again.
Rafe didn’t even have time to argue, you were running off before he could get a word in. He groaned, discomfort settling in from his shirt sticking to his skin.
“Way to go bro. You didn’t have to embarrass the freakshow like that though.” Rafe sneered in disgust at your high school nickname and he rolled his eyes, shrugging off the casual hand on his shoulder.
“Shut the fuck up before I shove broken glass down your throat.”
If there was something in this world that Rafe could never have, it would be patience. And this little game had his sanity wearing very thin.
He didn’t know exactly when he ended up at your front door, fist pounding loudly as he called your name. His bike was somewhere on the lawn, he didn’t bother to hide it this time. He swore if you didn’t open this door right now he would kick it open. He stepped back, his jaw tight as he waited a few seconds before doing something more drastic. Then, the door swung open. And there you were.
“I swear to God Rafe.” You sighed loudly, crossing your arms over your now slightly damp chest, having somewhat dried off the front of your dress. Rafe was taken aback by the appearance of your glasses, however. He hadn’t seen you wear them since you came back. Were you always this cute in them?
No, focus.
“You didn’t even let me talk back there! I didn’t mean to run into you like that, I swear.” He took a step closer, slightly leaning down to talk close to your face. You couldn’t help but stare at him, eyebrows furrowed with mistrust.
“Oh right, so was it just a coincidence that you were standing right behind me like a wall?” You shot back, shooting him a suspicious look. He rolled his eyes at you, sighing heavily. “If you wanted to look at them better you could’ve just asked! You didn’t have to knock drinks all over my dress.”
The words left your mouth in a haze. Fast and angrily as you motioned your hands around. You didn’t realize what you said until the look in Rafe’s eyes shifted. Going from confused to downright sinful. He tilted his head at you, crowding your personal space with his big fucking body. You realized then that you really fucked up.
“What’d you say?” He asked, his voice low as he made you step back into your house. He followed you, his face close to yours and you swallowed.
“Huh?” Play dumb, sure.
“Uh-uh, don’t try to be all innocent now. What the fuck did you say?” He repeated, one of his large hands coming up to grip your jaw. You swallowed, your lips pulled into a pout.
“You really weren’t that sneaky.” You finally admitted, throwing all logic out of the window knowing you both got caught red-handed by the other. Though Rafe didn’t look embarrassed or even remorseful, if anything he looked pleasantly amused. Impressed even.
“Well, shit.” A grin pulled at his lips as he laughed, a rush of adrenaline flowing through his already amped up body. “You little whore. You were striping in front of your fuckin’ window on purpose, weren’t you?”
“I didn’t know for sure but, I heard your bike a couple of times.” You shrugged, trying to hide the devious smile on your lips. Rafe scoffed humorously, in utter disbelief. “You following me on insta was kind of a given, too.”
“You are..” He leaned down, his soft lips mere inches away from yours as he blew out a chuckle, “A dirty little slut. You have any fuckin’ idea what you’ve been doin’ to me? Hm?” He squeezed your jaw between his fingers, forcing your head back to make sure your eyes were on him.
The words that left his mouth made you rub your thighs together, heat forming between them at the thought of being this close to Rafe, knowing he was on the brink of madness, all because of you. You could see it in his eyes, that utter need to fuck you, take you over and over, or else he would go insane.
“Thought I wasn’t your type.” You shot back, pettiness lacing your tongue. A groan of annoyance rumbled in his chest.
“I didn’t know I was your type.”
“You’re everyone’s type, since when are you humble?” You mocked him with a small laugh, but it quickly died in your chest when his fingers fell to your throat, and he dug his fingers with the faintest pressure. You nearly moaned.
“Well you’re my type right now. Your tits sure fuckin’ are.” He bit his lip softly, making sure his eyes were on yours when he spoke again, “bet your pussy is my type too. Lemme find out, hm?”
If you weren’t wet before, you sure were now. You nearly moaned out loud, his words alone bending you to his will. Not that it would take much work.
Rafe didn’t get to say another word, you were pulling him down by the back of his neck and you kissed him, and you kissed him really fucking hard. He liked your intensity. He craved to find out just what else you were hiding behind your innocent and sweet girl facade. He slipped his tongue into your mouth, his fingers lacing into your hair to force your head back for him. And you happily let him. His other hand shamelessly grabbed at your ass, squeezing it as he kissed you. You couldn’t help but moan into his mouth.
“My bedroom is—“ you were breathless as you muttered against his lips. Rafe chuckled, cutting you off as he effortlessly hoisted you around his waist.
“I know where your fuckin’ room is.” Of course he did.
You giggled as Rafe tossed you on your bed, biting your bottom lip as you watched him pull his polo over his head and your jaw fell wide open at the sight.
“Dude why are you like, so hot? Fuck.” Your eyes were big as you nearly drooled at the sight of his muscled torso. He was so ripped it was unbelievable. Rafe smirked at you, happy to hear that you were stroking his ego. He quickly joined you in your bed, straddling you as he hovered over you.
“Yeah?” He leaned down, lips curved up into a grin as he pressed an open mouth kiss to your lips. You nodded as his tongue laced with yours, a string of spit connecting your lips when he pulled back. “You should've just talked to me then. Could’ve had me much sooner. You got any fuckin’ idea how long I’ve been wanting to fuck you stupid?”
“How was I supposed to know? You didn’t want me before. I didn’t know.” You pouted, a bit of hurt laced in your voice. He rolled his eyes at you, long fingers coming to squeeze your face. You held your breath as his blue eyes pinned you.
“No, you just wanted to punish me. You wanted to parade yourself around Figure 8 with your pretty little dresses and your innocent little smile. But then at night you’d strip yourself naked in front of your window.” He huffed out the words, frustration coating his tongue. You shrugged. “You wanted to act like a slut, so I’ll fuck you like one. But first, I wanna taste your pussy.”
The way your body shuddered when Rafe moved down the bed to settle between your legs was embarrassing. You were already shaking and he hadn’t even touched you. You held your breath in anticipation as he reached underneath your dress, tugging your panties down your legs. Rafe grinned at the blue lacy panties that matched your white and navy blue flowy dress. You pretended not to notice him casually shove the lace into his back pocket.
“Take off your dress. I wanna look at your tits.”  You totally would punch any other man for speaking to you like this, but Rafe? He could speak to you in any way he wanted, especially when he was in between your legs, nearly drooling at the sight of your already soaked cunt.
You complied, unzipping the side of your dress before pulling it over your head, to reveal that you were indeed not wearing a bra today. Rafe nearly groaned at the sight.
“Fuck baby. You’re such a slut, did you plan this?” He laughed, shaking his head in disbelief. You opened your mouth to respond, but the words were replaced by a gasp when he dipped his head and licked a stripe between your folds without a single warning.
It was actually embarrassing how quickly you were falling apart. You were a sobbing shaking mess as soon as he started to circle his tongue around your clit, sloppy sounds leaving his mouth as he moved his head up and down. Rafe was enjoying this as much as you were, how many times he fantasized about shoving his tongue into your cunt, what you would taste like, how you would sound like for him. It was driving him insane. He was groaning and moaning as he lapped at your soaking cunt.
“You taste so fuckin’ good baby. You got any idea how many times I went home to rub one out thinkin’ about your pussy?” He groaned, spitting on your clit as he looked up at you, catching the way your back arched off the bed as your eyes rolled back into your head. “Should’ve just taken you. You would’ve let me, right doll? If I slipped in through your window and fucked this sweet little pussy in the middle of the night, wouldn’t even care as long as you got some dick, right?”
His words slipped past you, only the feeling of his tongue back on your clit. You couldn’t think straight, your pussy was pulsing, it just felt so good, you didn’t remember the last time a man ate you like this, with such intensity and fervor. Rafe looked up at you again, amused by the way you squirmed and writhed on the bed. With a grin, he wrapped both arms under your knees and folded them damn near against your chest, spreading you open for him. And you couldn’t run away either.
“I asked you a question.” He spat into your clit again, this time watching as the string of saliva ran down your clit before licking it.
“Ah! Rafe! Fuck—y-yes! You can do whatever you want to me!” You sputtered, your voice breaking into a cry when he slipped his tongue into your hole. His nose bumped your clit as he fucked you with his tongue and you were nearly digging your nails into his scalp as you clutched his hair. You wanted to come so bad. “Please Rafe. I’m gonna come.”
Rafe groaned into your pussy at your words. His tongue was replaced by two thick fingers and he curled them perfectly, enough to have you thanking the Gods for having your own house separate from your parents' main house.
“Oh, fuck yeah. You look so pretty begging me to let you come. Say it again, say it again just like that f’me.” His eyes never left you as his tongue was back on your clit, his fingers slipping and curling inside your throbbing cunt in the most delicious way possible. You couldn’t even form a thought, let alone a sentence. You sobbed, your pussy pulsing around his thick fingers.
“Please Rafe! Wanna come!” You didn’t have to say it twice, the second Rafe hummed at you, his tongue lapping at your swollen clit as his fingers fucked you raw, you were over. You were a shaking mess as you came, all you could do was gasp and cry as his fingers fucked you through your orgasm, and he happily continued to basically make out with your cunt.
“That was so fuckin’ good baby. You were so good f’me.” He grunted into your thigh as he lazily wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.
Your eyes were screwed shut, heaving as you were still jolting from the aftershock. When you opened your eyes again you found Rafe already hovering above you, his blue eyes staring down at you with devious intentions.
“You totally look so fuckin’ hot with those glasses. You should like suck my dick with them on.” You blinked at him, mouth slightly open which made him grin at you. “Not right now, I wanna be inside you now.”
Rafe didn’t waste any fucking time in pressing your knees to your chest, your glistening pussy on full display and ready for his cock.
“I’m gonna fuck this pussy like I fuckin’ own it.” He spat, his jaw slightly falling open as he slipped into you. Your eyes rolled back almost instantly, the feeling of his cock stretching you was better than you could have ever imagined. He was so fucking big, too. “All these fuckin’ assholes lookin’ at you and I’m the only one that gets to fill this pussy, you got that?”
You nodded harshly as he bottomed out, and without a warning he pulled out only to slam back into you, his cock damn near splitting you open. You threw your arms around his neck, your fingers lacing around his hair as he slammed into you, filling you deeper than anyone ever has before.
“Just you Rafe! It’s always been you!” You grabbed his face, pulling him into a messy kiss. Your words made his cock twitch and all he wanted right then and there was to keep you here, beneath him, stuffed with his cock and never let you leave.
“Why didn’t you come back sooner, huh? This pussy is so perfect, so tight. Just f’me. Want you all the fuckin’ time baby.” He grunted into your mouth, both arms caging you in as he drilled into you, his cock so deep you could almost feel him in your fucking guts.
A string of pathetic sounds, a string of uh-uh-uh’s left your lips as he damn near folded you in half, your cute nails dragging down his back, surely to leave red angry marks. Rafe grunted in delight, his large hand coming to grab your throat. He definitely didn’t miss the way you pussy clenched around him then.
“Shit, you’re so fucking hot, yknow that? Such a pretty little slut f’me. You’re gonna let me use you, hm? Do whatever I want with you?” He squeezed your throat, forcing your head up and down in a ‘yes’ gesture and you moaned, eyes screwed shut. “Mhmm, exactly. Open your fuckin’ mouth.”
The sound that left your throat was so pathetic Rafe laughed. You did as you were told, opening your eyes as you opened your mouth, you watched him with glazed eyes as he leaned down and spat straight into your mouth. He watched you jaw slacked as you happily swallowed, feeling the bump under his fingers.
“You’re so fuckin’ nasty, I love it.” He leaned down again, his fingers tightening around your throat as he spat into your mouth again, but this time he kissed you, it was so messy and sloppy and you fucking loved it. “Act like a slut, I’ll treat you like a slut.”
“Mhmm yes! I’m such a slut, just for you.” You choked out, your throat raw and sore from the grip he had on it. He shuddered at your words, his cock twitching as he dropped his free hand to rub harsh circles around your clit. Your eyes rolled so far back you actually looked like you were spasming. “O-oh god. I’m gonna come—! Please Rafe—!”
“Ohh, feels so good, doesn’t it baby? You wanna gush all over my dick huh?” He spoke right into your cheek, his sweaty cheek pressed right against yours as he held you by your throat, your glasses getting squished by him and you were praying to the Gods that he didn’t end up breaking them.
“Please, please, please Rafe!” You sobbed, your soaked cunt pulsing around his cock, your thighs sore and shaking as you hanged on by a thread, so close to reaching your limit.
“That’s it doll, squeeze the fuck out of me, come all over my cock, just like that.” He rubbed your clit and drilled into your already abused hole until you were gushing, you whole body shaking as you fell into a fit of sobs. Rafe wasn’t one to come just like that, but the sight of you so utterly fucked out and sobbing almost made him spill right then and there.
“Ah! Rafe!” You whined as he kept fucking you, his rough hips and harsh pace not once slowing down, driving you to the point of overstimulation. You squirmed, almost as if you wanted to run away from him. He tisked at you, releasing your throat to grab your arm, holding you down as he gripped the headboard with the other, damn near crushing you with his big fucking body.
“Oh, where the fuck are you going, huh? Who said you could run away? Nah, you wanted it, so now you take it like a good girl.” He reveled in the way you took his cock, jaw agape, eyes screwed shut and forehead screwed into a frown of pleasure.
You were practically done for when he carelessly shoved your face to the side, damn near knocking your glasses off your face. His lips sucked marks on your neck as your pussy convulsed around his cock for the second time. Your head was spinning so hard and your vision was so blurry, you didn’t even know what planet you were on.
“Hmph! Rafe!” You yelped but he cut you off, a particularly sharp thrust making you slide up the mattress.
“Shut up. I’m gonna fill you. Gonna ruin every other man for you.” He spat, his voice raspy and his hair falling in front of his eyes as he chased his high.
“Please Rafe, give it to me. Want it so bad!” Well that fucking did it. A moan rumbled in Rafe’s throat as he spilled himself inside you. His eyes were screwed shut and his mouth hung wide open. He snapped his hips, one, two more times before he sat still with a long breath.
You laid speechless, blinking softly as you tried to slow your racing heart, and process that this actually happened. Sixteen year-old you would totally freak out. Rafe Cameron just fucked the life out of you. Rafe was looking down at you with a pussy-drunk look, his eyes slightly closed and his lips were parted. Not that you could see him that well. Your glasses were so smudged and foggy all you could see was blurry shapes.
“I just fucked you dumb and you’re making that face?” Rafe narrowed his eyes at you as leaned on his forearms, holding up his weight as your legs fell to either side of him. You frowned at him, confused.
“What face?”
“You’re pouting and shit.” He smirked, squeezing your face between his fingers and you shot him a pointed look, groaning.
“I forgot to take off my glasses. They’re all dirty now. Can’t see shit.” You rolled your eyes, pulling your face away from his grip as you took your glasses off and tossed them on your nightstand.
“Well you looked cute and shit so. You’re fine.” He pressed a kiss to your pouty lips before laying down beside you, the feeling of your mixed release making you hiss softly.
Rafe lied with an arm behind his head and he couldn’t help but grin when he caught you looking at him with your lip pulled between your teeth. He nudged you over with his head and you happily settled underneath his arm with your head resting on his chest. You didn’t take him for a cuddling type but you’d happily take this.
You sighed heavily, just wanting to rest your sore muscles for a bit when you heard him speak again.
“So are you gonna follow me back on insta now or what?”
Alexia Putellas x Baby!Reader
Summary: Your birth comes with a lot of complications
TW: *birth complications, premature birth*
Tumblr media
It's kind of difficult to do a lot of things with a baby bump.
Alexia hadn't ever thought of it like that before.
Her back aches as she wakes up. Her ankles have swelled. She's craving weird things and waking up in the middle of the night, ready to call her Mami and get her to go to the shop to pick up whatever Alexia feels like she needs.
It had been a difficult choice to make, to put her career on pause to have a baby.
The idea had come out of nowhere, an errant thought that just grew bigger and bigger out of nowhere until it was all Alexia could think about.
A baby.
A little baby.
That's what Alexia focused on now as her eyes flutter open and she rolls over in bed.
For a moment, all is calm and Alexia can listen to the soft chirping of the birds.
In the next moment though, she muffles a scream with her fist.
There's pain in her lower belly and blood all over her sheets.
It's a bit of a blur after that.
There's definitely a call to someone. An ambulance as well but Alexia can barely tell what happened first or even how long it took to get there.
She's in and out, in a lot of pain but completely unaware of what's going on around her.
There's a pressure of a hand in her own as she finally comes to, eyes fluttering open but there's no birds to greet her this time.
Just the steady beeping of a heart monitor and the soft noise of a tv playing.
"Ma-Mami? What...What's going on?"
Eli pushes the hair out of Alexia's face, lips pursed as she pulls her chair closer.
"Ale, sweetheart..."
Alexia looks around, taking in surroundings. She's definitely in a hospital, that much is clear but her head is still fuzzy and not quite fully there.
"Mami, you're scaring me. What's going on?"
There's a panel of glass between you both as Alexia stares.
She's been put in a wheelchair and her doctor insists that she stays there.
It's too soon for her to be walking around and using her stomach muscles to get up.
Too soon after her surgery.
Her uterus ruptured. That's what Alexia was told. That's why she woke up that day with pain and a pool of blood in her bed. Her uterus ruptured and you were in danger.
The words didn't have much of an impact on Alexia. She already felt numb, both physically and mentally.
She'd nearly killed you.
Her uterus ruptured and you didn't have oxygen for who knows how long.
Her uterus ruptured while she was sleeping and you'd had no oxygen for maybe hours on end.
It didn't matter what the doctors told her, that was all Alexia could think of.
You and the lack of oxygen in your small, tiny brain.
You were already a small baby. The doctors present at your scans had talked about it before.
You didn't grow very quickly, on the small end of what you should be.
There had already been cause of concern because of it but now, as Alexia stares through the pane of glass between you both, it's all she can think about.
You're tiny, hooked up to machines and wires and you, somehow, look smaller than all the other premature babies in the NICU.
"I..."
"She's beautiful, Ale," Eli says," So, so beautiful."
"She's sick," Alexia chokes out," Mami, I let her get sick."
"No, Ale," Eli tries to sooth her," No. She's going to be okay. This isn't anything to do with you."
"But it is." The tears are coming now. Alexia hasn't cried since everything happened, hasn't felt anything at all until this moment as she watches you in your incubator.
You don't even have a name yet.
The little identification tag on your incubator just calls you 'The Putellas Baby'.
You don't have a name and you could easily just die in here.
With no name.
"It's all my fault," Alexia says as tears drip down her cheeks onto the clenched fists in her lap," Mami, she's going to die."
There's already a nursery set up for you at home with walls a very soft light purple colour. A little crib with a pastel pink blankie to swaddle you in and a little mobile to sit above you with cute doves that are meant to chirp and sing above your head.
There's a little Barcelona onesie waiting and ready for when Alexia presents you at Barcelona's next home match.
That was meant to be the plan.
A plan that's crashing down as Alexia stares at your struggling form in the incubator in front of her.
"No, no, Ale," Eli says," She's a strong girl, just like her Mami. She's going to be just fine."
It takes ten days after your birth for Alexia to touch you.
Her hands are shaking. Her heart rate is heightened.
"Alright, Mami," The midwife says," We're going to give this little one some kangaroo care. A bit of skin-on-skin should help, alright?"
Alexia's throat bobs uneasily as she swallows. "Yeah, alright."
You seem even tinier in person. You barely weigh anything at all, like a little sheet of paper as you're placed on Alexia's chest.
For a moment, your little face scrunches up in distaste and Alexia freezes.
But you settle a second later and Alexia can feel your soft puff of air against her collarbone.
You're absolutely tiny. Tiny and weak but alive.
Alive and breathing and wholly Alexia's daughter.
Her hand comes up to cup the back of your head, softly stroking the downy hair that's grown there.
"Hola, pequeñita," She whispers as tears threaten to spill from your eyes," I'm your Mami. It's nice to finally meet you."
a secret that changes everything
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: percy jackson x gn!reader
summary: percy finds out that the thoughtful birthday gift he got from his girlfriend, annabeth, has actually been from you, when he overhears a conversation between you & leo
tags: reader tries to salvage percabeth's relationship (while also crushing on percy), percabeth isn't doing so well, annabeth forgetting percy's birthday, worried friend!leo valdez (to reader), overhearing a confession (percy from reader), open ending
a/n: this is no percabeth hate! nor do i condone any annabeth hate in the comments/reblogs!
Tumblr media
things with annabeth haven't been going well recently.
annabeth barely made time for percy and as the two drifted further and further away from each other, it seemed like their relationship would soon come to an end. annabeth hadn't even made time for percy's birthday and their anniversary, only leaving him a present at his cabin. at least percy thought it was from her. until now…
“you're an idiot! tell him–!!”
percy could hear voices outside of his cabin. the loud one was leo, while the other one was…
“sshh, lower your voice! i don't want percy to hear us…”
hearing his name from you, as well as knowing that he wasn't supposed to hear what came next only made percy curious. he made his way to the window, opening it a bit and continued to listen to the conversation outside.
“he should hear us! you can't lie to him like this! if he knew, then–”
“if he knew, then it would break his heart!”
you raised your voice, despite just scolding leo for being so noisey. meanwhile, percy's heart seemed to stop for a moment. break his heart? what sort of secrets were the two of you keeping from him…?
“annabeth is going to break his heart eventually! but you're only making it worse, by lying to him and giving him hope!”
leo now raised his voice as well. percy would've likely heard every word of it, even if he hadn't opened his window.
“you weren't there, leo! you should've seen his face! it was his birthday and annabeth had forgotten about it. not just that, but may i remind you, that it was also the day the two of them first got together? when he saw the present, he just… he assumed it was from annabeth! i didn't have the heart to tell him that it was from me…”
percy's heart sunk. he knew exactly what present you were talking about. a handmade gift, so much love and effort put into it. he thought it was from annabeth, but now he knew that he was wrong. the one it was actually from was you…
outside it had gotten quiet. leo didn't have anything to say. perhaps he had realized that you were just trying to be considerate of percy's feelings. you didn't want percy to hurt even more. that's what this was all about.
“listen…”
your voice was so quiet, that percy would barely hear it anymore. he closed his eyes, concentrating on it as much as he could.
“i love percy… he's my best friend! but he loves annabeth. she makes him happy, so i have to be a good friend to him and do whatever i can to keep them together…”
percy wanted nothing more than to open the window and yell at you.
‘you make me happy!’
but he couldn't do it. he was frozen in place, overwhelmed by his own emotions. he loved annabeth, but knowing what he does now, how could he still feel the same way about her? and how could he still feel the same way about you, after learning that you were willing to put his happiness before your own? how could he see you as just a friend after what was just revealed to him…?
Hidden In Plain Sight | Viktor
Pairings: Viktor x GN!Reader
Pronouns: None used for reader 🤍
Summary: You aren’t going to let a conversation stop you from relieving your lover of his frustrations.
Notes: Heyyy!! So. I’m working on requests. But this idea popped into my head when I was rewatching S1 to prepare for S2!!
This is based on S1 E5, the conversation Viktor has with Sky Young. I loved the idea that, since Viktor was so clearly uninterested in her, I should make the reason for the uninterest be you. 🥵🤍 Enjoy, my loves.
I SWEAR PT. 2 of The Cuck Fic is COMING SOON!!!!
Viktor threw his hands to his sides in a sharp, exaggerated motion, his frustration bubbling beneath the surface. He leaned back in his chair, tilting his head back against the top of it as he tried to counteract the heaviness that had settled over him. The weight of his thoughts was more palpable than any tangible burden. His eyes drifted briefly to the clutter of papers scattered on the desk, but nothing held his focus for long.
Viktor’s mind drifted, momentarily pulling him away from the weight of his work. He wondered where you were, why you weren’t here with him now. In moments like this, when the pressure of it all became too much, he often needed you to hold him, to ground him in a way only you could. He could almost feel the comfort of your presence, the warmth of your touch, and it left a deep ache in him. It wasn’t just the physical relief he craved—it was the calm, the quiet reassurance that you always provided. Without you there, the room felt colder, emptier.
He exhaled sharply, a deep sigh that seemed to carry more than just exhaustion. The silence of the room hung in the air, thick and unyielding, until it was broken by a soft, almost hesitant voice from behind him.
“It’s beautiful.”
Viktor tensed up at the sudden intrusive voice.
The words felt distant, like they belonged to another world entirely, one that wasn’t caught in the weight of Viktor’s own spiraling thoughts. He didn’t need to look to know who it was—he could picture her there, standing a little too close, her voice trembling at the edges.
Sky. Always Sky.
Viktor didn’t turn. There was no need to. She had said enough with those few words. He inhaled again, slower this time, trying to keep his “irritation” from surfacing.
He sighed, the sound low and heavy.
“I can’t figure out why it’s not working…” Viktor muttered, his voice flat, as he rubbed his hands over his face, trying to maintain a simple composure. It wasn’t just “frustration”—there was something else lurking beneath it. Something quieter that gnawed at the edges of his mind.
“You will…” Sky’s voice was soft, almost soothing, as though she had said those words a thousand times before, to herself or to him, or perhaps to both. Viktor didn’t acknowledge the comment, his gaze still fixed on “nothing” as he looked down into his lap.
Sky shifted, an anxious movement that Viktor could feel even without seeing it. He imagined her wringing her hands, pushing her glasses up her nose, trying to find the right thing to say.
“Are you… headed home soon?” Her voice was tinged with hope, though it faltered as she continued, as if she already knew the answer.
“I thought we could walk together…”
Her words hung there, like a delicate thread pulling at the edge of his attention. But Viktor wasn’t interested. He didn’t hate her, but his mind was somewhere else—too far away to grasp her meaning.
He almost rolled his eyes, but he stifled it. Instead, he answered with an aloofness that was more instinct than deliberate cruelty.
“I’m, uh… probably going to sleep here tonight,” he said, his voice distant, distracted. The words were a gentle deflection, but the disinterest was clear. His fingers tapped absently on the desk, the motion more automatic than purposeful.
Sky’s voice softened, like a fading echo.
“Again? You know there’s always tomorrow, right?” The words stung, though she tried to mask it with a forced cheer. Viktor didn’t respond right away, but he knew what she was trying to do.
“Goodnight, Miss Young,” he said, his tone a little more clipped now, though he didn’t intend for it to sound harsh. He didn’t need to look at her to know she was still there, standing in the doorway, hoping for something—anything—that would make him look at her the way she looked at him. But he didn’t.
She hesitated for a moment, her presence lingering in the room like a shadow, before she stepped back. The silence stretched on in her absence, but Viktor remained frozen in place, his thoughts elsewhere, far away from the quiet, expectant gaze he knew she had been offering.
With a soft exhale, Sky left. And the room was quiet once more.
As the door clicked shut behind her, replacing the silence, Viktor let out a long breath, as though he had been holding every one of the previous ones far too long.
The room fell into an uneasy stillness, broken only by the mechanical hum of surrounding equipment, his own steady breathing, and the faint sound of wet, sloppy, suckling.
He looks down into his lap once more, where you were, your head bobbing between his legs like a buoy in water.
Viktor felt his stomach churn at the sight of it, a wave of pleasure pooling inside him. A low, involuntary groan slipped from his lips, the sound escaping after he’d spent too long stifling it.
It was deep, slow, and rich, a reflex of the sensation that tightened in his chest and spread through his body. His breath hitched slightly as the pleasure took control, a warmth spreading through him as he fought to stay composed in case anyone else were to pop into the room.
Your lips were wrapped tightly around his needy cock, maintaining a seal around it as you sucked and licked at it.
Viktor, truthfully, hadn’t been frustrated at all during his exchange with his assistant.
In fact, he had been struggling to conceal the pleasure slowly building within him—pleasure he had worked hard to keep hidden from Sky.
Earlier, you had offered to help ease his tensions, but Viktor had turned you down, citing the risk of someone walking by at any moment. You couldn’t deny he had a point—-which felt ironic, now. But you weren’t one to be easily deterred.
You couldn’t help but pity Viktor, watching him struggle with the frustration that clung to him like a second skin. The weight of his work seemed to suffocate him—trying to stabilize and control the intricate combinations of runes for the new version of Hextech he and Jayce had launched. The constant pressure, the endless tinkering and problem-solving, had a way of wearing him down.
No matter how often you reminded him how brilliant, how capable, how wonderful he was, it never seemed to quiet that relentless inner voice of doubt. He always carried that burden, that self-imposed expectation of perfection, even when he had already accomplished so much.
You knew there was only one real way to relieve his aggravation apart from the simpler comforts you’d provide.
And so, as Viktor bent over his work, eyes fixed on the sprawling notes before him, you slipped under his desk. He didn’t notice at first, too lost in his thoughts, as you moved quietly and carefully, prowling and crawling to him like a tiger stalking a gazelle.
What you didn’t realize, though, was that Sky had arrived and was now looming behind Viktor in the annoyingly often way she did. The chair Viktor occupied, wide and heavy, combined with you on your knees, faithfully hid you from her eyes. Leaving Sky unaware of your proximity, just as Viktor remained blissfully unaware of her presence.
Your hands were beyond eager as they worked to unbutton his clothes, the fabric of his pants slipping easily beneath your fingers. You could feel him tense, stiff as a statue as you pulled his cock out right after she had said her first sentence.
You knew Viktor was stunned, and it amused you to imagine the expression on his face as he tried to conceal what was happening outside of Sky’s awareness.
You only had to wait, feeling the tension in him shift, his body responding to your touch in ways he was trying hard to ignore, while also trying desperately hard to maintain an unsuspecting tone as he talked.
You had begun lapping, sucking, and hollowing out your cheeks to accommodate his size and length. You greedily slid down until his cock reached the back of your throat, almost laughing at the sound of the sharp inhale that garnered from him.
A part of you almost wished Sky could see you—see how easily you could reduce this man to a babbling mess, unlike anyone else. It wasn’t as if you and he were some secret, hidden item, but maybe if she knew, really knew, what you often did to him, and how he crumbled, she’d finally back off.
Maybe then, and only then, would she relinquish her pathetic attempts to encroach on what was yours. The thought of her realizing that she’d never compare, never measure up to the desire Viktor had for you, gave you a twisted air of satisfaction.
You heavily considered the idea.
Your amusement remained bold, even as Viktor’s attention finally drifted down to where you were hidden beneath his desk. It was almost as if he had sensed your devious train of thought.
He shot you a look, one that said more than words ever could. There was a trace of minor disappointment in the way his brow furrowed, confusion flickering in his eyes as he tried to reconcile what was happening beneath the table with the ongoing conversation. But beneath it all, you saw the unmistakably familiar glimmer of pleasure, one he couldn’t quite suppress, despite his attempt to maintain control.
It was a mix of surprise and something deeper, something he didn’t always allow himself to acknowledge. His eyes lingered just long enough for you to sense it, the tension between his desire to focus on his work and the undeniable pull of the moment.
Several painstakingly long moments passed before Viktor finally managed to rid the room of the unwanted third presence. As Sky exited, Viktor released a deep, almost aching sigh—one that resonated with a relief so intense, it sent a shiver of arousal down your spine. The tension that had been weighing on him seemed to melt away in an instant, and the air between you thickened with the shift in his attitude.
Without hesitation, his hand slipped into your hair, fingers tangling in the soft strands as he gently tugged you closer. His gaze met yours, dark and heavy, as though he had been waiting for this moment, for the silence to settle between you both. The way he looked at you now was unmistakable, that mix of pleasure and need, the kind of intensity that made your pulse quicken.
“You really need to learn patience, my love.” He breathes, his other hand coming up to caress your cheek as he uses his grip on your hair to help guide your movement.
He hisses as he pushes your head down far enough to lightly rut his cock into the very back of your throat.
“What if she had seen you?” He asks, not really expecting a reply considering your current state.
You hum lightly as he slowly but surely flicks his hips up into your mouth, gagging around him as he did so. Viktor’s string of moans in response to your gags were filthy, needy, and whiny. You always drove him crazy, and this was no exception.
“Mmf…” he groans, biting his lip as a last ditch effort to keep himself from moaning too loud—-quickening the pace with which he began bobbing your head to meet his tiny thrusts.
“Mmm.. like that, my love.” He instructs softly—reassuring that the new way you had started licking up and down the length of his cock was simply divine.
Viktor was cursing himself inside due to the speed at which his orgasm was approaching. You’d barely been down there six minutes when he recognized the familiar tightening in his stomach nearing the edge of snapping.
“My love, I— I’m going to—“ he tried to warn you before his hot cum began spewing onto the inner walls of your mouth. It shot directly into the back of your throat, splattering off the tissues and trickling down your esophagus. The tepid, viscous substance slid further and further down as you swallowed around his twitching cock.
Viktor had cum with the unholiest of moans leaping out of his throat to invade your ears. It sent an unforgiving wave of arousal through you, singeing your skin and shocking your bones. He had gripped your face with an automatic force, pushing you down as far as you could possibly go, his eyes clamping shut as the thick strings of cum practically drowned you on land.
You gagged against the mindless way he jerked his hips into your mouth as he chased his orgasm seemingly halfway to your stomach.
Viktor practically whimpered at the sensation of you mercilessly swallowing around him—-now sensitive beyond measure from the sheer might of his climax. You had been correct—-he really needed that—arguably more than anything else.
When the pressure in your throat became unbearable, you squeezed his leg, silently pleading for him to loosen his grip.
Viktor’s eyes snapped open, the clarity that followed his release allowing him to regain his focus. He immediately uncoupled his hands from your head.
“I—I’m sorry, my love… I guess I got carried away,” he muttered, his voice tinged with sheepish regret.
You gasped as you pulled away, strands of saliva trailing down your chin in a delicate cascade—-like a miniature waterfall against your skin.
You hum softly in response to his apology, the hum dancing along the edge of a gentle laugh.
“Guess I did, too,” you murmur, wiping your mouth clean as you meet his gaze with silent affection.
Viktor gently cups your face once more, his thumb sweeping over the apple of your cheek as a soft smile tugs at his lips.
“Thank you…” he whispers, his voice rich with adoration, gratitude, and love for you. He tilts his head, aligning it with yours as his intent becomes clear.
He presses his lips to yours in a tender, silent show of his affection. Viktor shudders as a result of tasting himself all over your lips and tongue. The fact that you had eagerly swallowed every last drop sent a jolt through him, making his hair stand on end—-as it always did. He was downright obsessed with your greedy thirst for his cock and his seed.
The passion and tenderness with which Viktor kisses you never fail to set your heart racing, the gentle yet intense pressure of his lips stirring a swarm of butterflies in your stomach.
After several tender, passionate moments, your lips still lingering in a dance of their own, Viktor pulls away, his mind swirling with the renewed flames of longing sparked by what just transpired.
“My love… Why don’t we move… on top of the table?” he suggests, a playful gleam lighting up his eyes as he gazes into yours once more.
At his suggestion, you feel the butterflies in your stomach morph into something far more intense—fighter jets soaring through the cavern of your core. You meet his playful gaze with one of eager anticipation.
You nod, shifting to rise from your knees.
“I’ll lock the door,” you mutter softly.
Cursed Tea Party
Pairing: Riddle Rosehearts x Fem!Reader
Tags: nsfw, smut, dub-con, love potion, aphrodisiac, orgasm control, yandere behavior, rough sex, love confession, overstimulation, being cockdrunk
Word count: 1.2k
A/N: I don't remember when I wrote this or why but I did. And here it is for you all. A bit more dark than usual.
Tumblr media
There was something wrong with you. You could tell ever since you left the tea party. Actually before then. It was the reason you left, you couldn't stand being there anymore, with your head spinning, body getting so hot you had to take off your uniform jacket and loosen up your bowtie to make breathing easier. It didn't help. Maybe a cold shower would do, if not, maybe one of the toys you had hidden away in your closet.
"Are you sure you're feeling alright? I could escort you back if you're sick." Riddle was the first one to notice how bad you were looking. It was his party so naturally he wanted to keep an eye on all the attendees.
"No, no!" The moment his voice reached your ears the throbbing and heat became nearly too much to handle. You had an urge to push him down, kiss him, tell him about every sinful fantasy you've ever had and beg for him to be the to fulfill them. "I swear I'm alright, I think I may have caught something. But I can make it back on my own."
None of the boys seemed to happy about that. You promised you'd call one of them when you're in your room and let them know you're fine. That was an hour ago. How could you get so lost in the labyrinth? Riddle didn't change it, as far as you knew. Every turn seemed to lead nowhere. Left, right, going back, nothing worked. You were simply lost. Lost and so painfully horny.
"Oh my, are you still here?" When did Riddle get behind you? Was he here to help you? "I thought I sensed someone here. What's the matter? Are you lost?" He walked up to you with the grace of a ruler, his crown perfectly in place, staff twirled in his hand and a very amused smile on his lips. So fucking sexy. "You're making a puddle. Hm, perhaps I put in a little too much." He frowned for a moment but then shrugged it off, like it didn't seem like vital information.
"Too much? What do you-" He took your hand in his, his touch and lips so hot they hurt your skin. It was nothing compared to the vines and thorns that crept up behind you and bound you up against the labyrinth wall. "Riddle? What's going on? What are you doing? Let me go!"
"Unfortunately I can't do that, my sweet rose. What you consumed in your tea was a very powerful aphrodisiac. I should have considered the dosage more carefully. I'm sorry for putting you through that, but it's alright, I'm here to help you now. I'll make it all better." His little chuckle sent a shiver down your spine, and not the nice kind. Your mind was torn, run or ask him to help?
Help? He just admitted he was the reason this was happening! But he was also the one offering to help. No, he was the one in the wrong here!
While you had your inner turmoil you didn't notice him undoing his pants and starting to stroke his cock, "I took some too you see. You're not alone, you'll never be alone again with me around. I'll take care of you, I'll be the best boyfriend you've ever had." Another sinister laugh left his mouth, his eyes blown wide, the crown now slightly on its side, "I've been waiting for this." Riddle used the top of his staff to spread your legs and move your panties to the side. The cold ruby pressed against your aching clit, the sound that left your body a cross between a moan and a pained whine. "Hurts right? I'll make you better love, I'll make it all better."
His cock came as sweet relief to your empty pussy, "Riddle..." You could barely think about anything, everything felt like it was too much, but his cock... it was perfect and just what you needed.
"Did you just come?" Riddle looked so happy with himself, his hips barely moving while he waited for your pussy to stop fluttering around his length. "I just put it in. You must have been suffering without my cock."
"I didn't. I didn't come." It was shameful to admit otherwise. This wasn't what you wanted to happen, how you wanted it to happen. "Not like this." You turned your face from him but your mouth still moaned when he thrust into you, "Don't... please stop moving... it's too much for me." Riddle never listened to anyone, you weren't about to change the King's mind either.
"I love you, I love dearest. Don't you see? I love you so much. After I saw you on my first party I had to get close to you, but you always hung around everyone else. You wouldn't even sit next to me!" You heard him yell before, a lot in fact, this was a different tone, broken, desperate, "Please understand. Understand how much I love you, I'm helping you realize it. Please."
What should have sounded like the unhinged ramblings of a madman wormed their way into your heard, warped your mind, made you finally look at him.
"Finally. You're looking, you're looking at me! Look down here too! See how well your pussy takes my cock? It's greedy! It wants this! You want this! You want me as much as I want you! Don't you?! Don't you, my beautiful rose?!" The warmth at the pit of your stomach returned at full force, the loud, crazy sound of his voice and the look in his eyes, burning lust and devotion reflecting your flushed face with such clarity, as well as how clouded your mind had become.
"I do love you." Riddle's face lit up with glee, the words freeing you of doubt that you weren't sure why it was there in the first place. Riddle was helping you, who are you to refuse his help? "I love you." You chuckled, "I've loved you for so long." Another laugher, a little bit louder, "Riddle."
Your back arched as far as it was able, stars dancing in front of your eyes, pussy twitching around Riddle's hard cock. "You're so tight! I'll make this one better for you! I'll make your cunt feel so good, let me fill it up." Your constant stream of pleas was only broken when you felt it, his cock emptying inside your, ropes of it painting your sensitive inner walls.
When he leaned against you to catch his breath you'd noticed the tight pressure around your wrists release. Now you were free to hold him, and he was free to hold you, now that you were fully complaint.
"Let's take you back to my castle. After today I think we should start moving your things there. And maybe inform the Principle that you'll be doing online classes only. I don't want anyone else laying their eyes or hands on you." Riddle gathered you in his arms, your body fully limp against him, pussy still pulsing with need around his cock, "There, there. You'll get more, don't you worry." He pressed a kiss to your lips, sealing his promise. The two of you began your way back through the maze, Riddle's crown forgotten where you'd just been.
One thing I will say upon looking back at it and with the redraw is that I don't think it's a "lack of reaction" and just more of an emptiness. It's not that he doesn't care, but instead he feels a sort of emptiness or hollowness in what has happened. Because he failed to save someone who needed it, he failed to do the one thing he promised he would try to do. And while Tomura has done many bad things, there is still a disappointment and dissatisfaction in knowing that he couldn't do the one thing a hero, in his mind, should be able to do. Whether he saved his heart or not, Izuku himself may feel that being unable to physically get Tomura out of there - like he has done with his other saves - means he not only failed Tomura but himself as a hero
And meanwhile Tomura is smiling faintly. Something about Izuku's possible emptiness in his reaction and Tomura smiling all the way until his death. And though he's smiling, it feels sad as well. I wonder if there was some small part of him that really thought something could change. Or he's touched (idk if that's the word but maybe something similar to it) that Izuku at least tried to connect to him, unlike the rest of the heroes
I’m not going to lie I can’t really remember that far back either lmao… BUT I’M SO EXCITED YOU DID TAG ME BECAUSE THIS WAS MARVELOUS 😍
Accurate depiction of me the whole time I read this:
Tumblr media
Apparently, he couldn’t be bothered to put those meaty man muscles to good use, aside from shoveling three helpings into his mouth.
I love this line so much. And I LOVE how passive aggressive the reader is. It's so believable and I would 10000000% be so mad if I slaved away cooking a nice meal and then he didn't help me clean up. She's really saying what we're all thinking.
But... it is SOOOO Ben lol.
Ben’s voice washed over you, deep and still a little rough with sleep as he stepped into the kitchen. His old man loafers slid against the floor with every step when he approached you from behind, and his heavy hands found a familiar resting place on the curve of your waist.
"His old man loafers..." LMAO 🤣
“Hey,” he said, “since you’re already up and about in here, how about some breakf—
Tumblr media
“Okay, okay. It’s a little early for all this Latina temper, don’tcha think?” he said, pressing a kiss to your forehead. Your gaze snapped up at him with a glare.
OHHH NOOO NOT THE DEMEANING/PLACATING FOREHEAD KISS! HE GONNA LEARN TODAY👏🏻!
“I love you,” you repeated, “but I don’t need a man-child.” "Excuse me?" he did snap this time, his hold loosening from around your waist. "The fuck did you just say?" You narrowed your eyes right back at him. "You heard me," you said. "I want a man. A man who's going to be my rock when I need him. Can you do that for me, like I do for you? Are you gonna be my man, or do I need to claim you as a dependent on my taxes?"
The other day I heard someone at work say that when she first started dating her boyfriend she told him outright that she didn't need him, but she wanted him and that he should know the difference. That she didn't need him in her life because she was okay the way she was and that she was a strong independent woman, but she wanted him there and he would stay as long as she wanted him there. Sorry, that's a tangent, but that is what this bit reminded me of. I love how you wrote it in, it is really good and honest, and I'm glad that the reader can come outright and say it.
Plus I was cackling at the "dependent on my taxes" thing. And then it made me think if Ben has ever done his own taxes and what it would look like lol.
Ben did you the favor of brushing the thick curls away from your eyes, tugging several strands behind your ears, even though most of them didn’t obey him. He framed your face with his big hands, and his thumbs swept along your skin, the rich complexion shining in the morning light filtering through the kitchen window. There was more care in his touch now, his strength tempered just for you. Fond amusement colored his features. For as much shit as you gave him, you still gave him more of yourself; more of your trust, your patience...and all the rest of it. You gave him more than anyone that had come before you, and deep inside, he doubted anyone that might come after you.
Oh goodness, I'm a sucker for the little softer moments with Ben. We see so few of them on the show and I think that it makes some people believe that Ben can't be gentle in his own way. But I really do believe that Ben isn't just some macho asshole who can't have emotions or feelings and who can't be gentle with the woman he loves. He has those feelings and he's not just some jerk. He can do those things, it might look a little different and it might take him a little longer to get there, but this is just so good. Especially when he untangles the shirt from her hair!
And oh my word the bit about the reader giving more to him than anyone ever has, is making me cry. NOT to mention when he says the "he doubted anyone that might come after you." Is just heart-wrenching! Because I know that we've talked in the past about giving Ben a partner that can live longer, but goodness it's still just so heartbreaking to think that Ben is going to live on longer than the reader and have to live with her memory forever.
Tumblr media
And the spice was:
Tumblr media
BUT. I really liked this bit:
“Didn’t think you wanted to be fucked on some cold tile,” he said, even if the sentiment behind his words warmed you. You were pretty sure he didn’t used to care about that. At least, before he met you.
Because the way the reader realizes how much he cares about her comfort, and the suggestion that he hadn't cared about that in the past is just BEAUTIFUL. I think that it has to be true for Ben! Because yeah he's gotten around... and around... like a merry go round on steroids LMAO, but I think that if he's with someone he really cares about and loves, Ben would care how comfortable his partner is. I believe that he would be checking in. I mean the guy probably hates the words "make love" but he does it in his own way.
Oh this fic was good as always my wonderful friend! I'm so happy you tagged me 🥰! And I can't wait to read more of this couple in your series "Unravel Me!" 💗
AN: So after getting requests for a Soldier Boy x POC!Reader, I’ve had a short series in development called Unravel Me. I’m a bit stalled on the outline right now, so I thought this could be a fun way to introduce their relationship and see if you guys think I should continue with the prequel, kind of like how I did with Checkerboard and the Break Me Down-verse.
This story would take place after Unravel Me, after a fair bit of character development lol. It also fulfills a bingo square for @jacklesversebingo!
The apartment was quiet, but not peaceful.
You were in the kitchen washing the Mt. Everest of dishes piled in the sink, partly because someone hadn’t rinsed off his own plate of carne guisada.
Ben had asked for beef for dinner yesterday, and you’d graciously delivered with your grandmother’s recipe for the stew. It was filled with chunks of tender, fall-off-your-fork beef, garlic, onions, carrots, and more—all marinated to perfection, if you said so yourself. You even added in some little yellow potatoes, both for taste and texture.
Apparently, he couldn’t be bothered to put those meaty man muscles to good use, aside from shoveling three helpings into his mouth.
A bottomless pit and a freakin’ man-child, I swear to God, you inwardly groused as you scrubbed the ceramic a bit too hard with the rough side of the sponge. No matter how many times you asked, nicely, it seemed your boyfriend couldn’t manage to pull his weight around here.
Okay, you knew his job could be demanding, but so was yours.
What the hell is this, Maid in Manhattan? Newsflash: I’ve got shit to do too!
“And I cooked!” you muttered in indignation. That reminder propelled you to scrub a bit harder. The least he could do was clean the kitchen. Or take out the trash. Or toss the laundry into the washing machine once in a while. Like you really wanted to handle his dirty boxers all the damn time.
Did he have no shame? Couldn’t he do anything for you without you having to ask him three million times?
Es que él es bruto, mija, as your Dominican grandma would say about your grandpa, often while swiping a tired hand over her long braids. Es como un animal con ropa.
Just then, you heard his heavy steps creaking on the wood floors in your bedroom. Today was his day off, so he was probably taking his sweet time rolling his ass out of bed.
Meanwhile, you were hustling to get the place at least decently clean before you got yourself together for work. The thought made you simmer as you continued to place dishes on the counter rack. Each one clacking to rest was satisfying, but it also ticked up your internal dial to a fine boil.
You heard him bang the bathroom door open and cringed internally, your teeth grinding. You’d reminded him three times already about the neighbors and the noise.
Sabes que, supe or not, I’m about to—
“Morning, sweetheart.”
Ben’s voice washed over you, deep and still a little rough with sleep as he stepped into the kitchen. His old man loafers slid against the floor with every step when he approached you from behind, and his heavy hands found a familiar resting place on the curve of your waist.
He swiped your slightly wild curls to the side and pressed a tantalizing kiss into your neck. His voice, his touch, the brief scrape of his beard; it all caused a small shiver of delight up your spine.
“Hmm, you smell good. Good enough to eat.” And he teased you with the graze of his teeth, biting gently enough where your neck met your shoulder. You flinched with half a huff, trying not to smile.
Just like that, it took the edge off your irritation…a little. You opened your mouth to reply, but before you could…
“Hey,” he said, “since you’re already up and about in here, how about some breakf—”
Your spine tightened once again.
“Whatever you’re going to ask, the answer is No!” you snapped. You moved out of his arms to grab a hand towel to dry your hands with. They were all pruny from washing dishes.
“I’m already running late. Why? Because this place is a fucking mess, and the only one who seems to care is me!” you exclaimed. First, you gestured to the dishes now drying on the rack. “Hmm?”
You then opened up the lid to the full-to-bursting trashcan. “What do you call that, huh? You said you’d take this out last night. After I asked you twice. What, was I not speaking English? Did something get lost in translation, or are you already losing your hearing? Just let me know, ‘cause I can sure as hell crank up the volume for you!”
Ben raised a brow. You read his thoughts in his surly frown. You have some fucking audacity, talking to him like that, but it’s still early. He hasn’t even had his coffee, for Christ’s sake.
If he was more awake, no doubt he’d be barking back at you. Instead, he heaved a sigh, drew closer to you and shut the trashcan lid. At least there was one lid he knew how to close.
“All right, it’s just a little mess. No need to get fucking hysterical,” he said, trying to grasp your arm to placate you. You shrugged out of his hold and crossed your arms in anger.
“Ben, it’s not just a little mess. And what is this, 1945? I’m not hysterical!”
His lips twitched at a smirk, making you even angrier. But he’d caught enough smoke from you in the past to know he didn’t want it at 8:00 in the morning. He grasped your arms and rubbed them up and down, trying to sooth you.
“Okay, okay. It’s a little early for all this Latina temper, don’tcha think?” he said, pressing a kiss to your forehead. Your gaze snapped up at him with a glare.
Oooh, this man. He knew how to get you mad fucking tight.
Not in a good way.
Instead of exploding like Mount Fuji, you kept it all under your skin. You turned away from him and aimed to continue getting ready for work, but first, you took out a Greek yogurt from the fridge and wholly ignored him taking up space in the kitchen. You wouldn’t answer him when he called your name. In fact, you were going to give him the most frigid of cold shoulders—so cold he’d get hyperthermia through that invulnerable skin.
He waylaid your plans when he grabbed your hand, swinging you back into his arms. You gasped at the suddenness of it, looking up into his cocky, charming smile. You couldn’t stare too long at his green eyes, or the rest of his handsome, bearded face. Not when he knew exactly how to use it against you.
“Don’t think that’s gonna get you out of this,” you warned him. You set your yogurt on the kitchen counter and pushed at his chest, but it was no more effective than pushing at a mountain and expecting it to move.
His hands spanned your waist, his fingers beginning to press into your soft sides. He bowed his head, brushing his lips against your neck and the shell of your ear when he said, “Out of what, baby doll? Looks to me like we can still have a good morning.”
His voice once against trilled heat and tingles through your body, but you managed to lean back, holding the pads of your fingers to his lips.
“Hey, I’m not playing around here. If we’re gonna do this,” you pointed between him and yourself, “then let me make one thing really clear. I’m not la sirvienta around here, okay? I’m not your fucking maid. I’m your girl. Your partner. And since you live here now, I’m gonna need you to do your part.”
Ben almost rolled his eyes, but you grasped his chin. He frowned at you with furrowed brows. There was a time where he would've been inclined to grab your wrist and try to intimidate you with his temper. You saw it lying in wait behind his pursed lips and irritated stare, but you weren't afraid of him. Not anymore.
“Listen to me. I get that you haven’t lived like us commoners for most of your life, but this stuff is important,” you said. You took a deep breath, and you counted to three. You met him with a calmer gaze. “Ben, I love you.”
You let go of his chin and lowered your hand, letting it splay over his chest. He softened, ever so slightly, even though his frown remained.
“I love you,” you repeated, “but I don’t need a man-child.”
"Excuse me?" he did snap this time, his hold loosening from around your waist. "The fuck did you just say?"
You narrowed your eyes right back at him.
"You heard me," you said. "I want a man. A man who's going to be my rock when I need him. Can you do that for me, like I do for you? Are you gonna be my man, or do I need to claim you as a dependent on my taxes?"
His expression sharpened again at your thinly veiled accusation…but the longer he looked into your eyes, no longer angry, but earnest and imploring, the more he actually listened to what you were saying. His jaw worked for a moment in annoyance. You subtly softened him with your hands soothing up and down his arms, a slow back and forth over solid, warm muscle.
Eventually, he was able to curb his instinct to bark a callous reply. He nodded, expelling a breath through his nose.
“Fine,” he said.
Your brows rose. “Fine?”
“Yeah,” he said flatly.
You knew it was the closest you were going to get to an agreement, as well as an apology. You were still working on that last one, but dating this man was a work in progress, for both of you. With a sigh, you patted his arms that were slowly wrapping back around you.
“Okay, I’m really running late now,” you said.
“You should probably get a move on then,” Ben said.
Still, he didn’t release you. He stared down at you with an amused smile while you struggled against his hold. You uttered a laugh.
“Babe, I need to get to work.” You leaned over and spied the oven clock. “Oh, shit! it’s almost 8:30! If I’m not there by 9:00—”
“You sure you want to go now? Tense, body all tight,” he said, his voice deep with sensuous suggestion.
His lips neared yours, but he didn’t kiss you. Not yet. His lips veered away to brush against your cheek. He inhaled deeply as he moved, taking in the floral scent of your soap, mixed with the army of products you styled your hair with, and the faint imprint of your perfume from the night before. He skimmed down your neck and along the shell of your ear.
“Wouldn’t you rather I fuck all that tension right out of you?” he offered. “Leave you nice and warm and satisfied, have that pretty pussy coming hard on my cock.”
You let out a shaky breath, closing your eyes as his filthy mouth and the timbre of his voice struck a chord through your body, tinging warm arousal between your legs. Your fingers tightened on his strong arms, digging into the fabric of his loose robe. Ben took that as a wordless confirmation. He bent at the knees and grabbed you up by your plush thighs. You wrapped your arms around his neck on instinct, with a small gasp.
But you recovered quickly. Taking his face into your hands, you met his lips roughly with yours in a devouring kiss. He set you down on the kitchen counter hard enough to make the clean dishes rattle. His hands were just as claiming as his mouth, squeezing your hips and thighs as he spread them open to make more room for himself.
While your tongue dueled with his, you shoved the robe off his shoulders, followed by his sleep shirt pooling to the floor. His hand slid under your top as well, and almost ripped it at the hem in his haste to get it up and over your head.
“Ow, ah-ow!” You giggled when the collar got caught on your hair. Ben’s breathy chuckle reached your ears. He was gentler in how he helped get the shirt off the rest of the way. Your mane of hair fell into your face, and you huffed.
Ben did you the favor of brushing the thick curls away from your eyes, tugging several strands behind your ears, even though most of them didn’t obey him. He framed your face with his big hands, and his thumbs swept along your skin, the rich complexion shining in the morning light filtering through the kitchen window.
There was more care in his touch now, his strength tempered just for you. Fond amusement colored his features. For as much shit as you gave him, you still gave him more of yourself; more of your trust, your patience...and all the rest of it. You gave him more than anyone that had come before you, and deep inside, he doubted anyone that might come after you.
You smiled up at him, a little wryly. You leaned up and met him for a gentler kiss. Your eyes fell closed at the feeling of him, and the spicy hint of his aftershave. It was a scent that often clung to his pillows. When he was gone on a mission for days on end, you wouldn’t admit to clinging to one of them to help you sleep, and make you feel safe.
“Mmm, you smell good,” you whispered. And it was true. He smelled like mint and spicy aftershave. You plied his lips with deeper kisses, licking into his mouth with a sensuous tongue, before you stole his words. “Good enough to eat.”
He uttered a groan deep in his throat. It satisfied you, enhancing the warm flood between your legs.
Fuck it. You were calling in sick today.
You drew him back into the pull of you, winding your arms around his neck and your fingers in his hair. It was getting long again, but you liked it. You liked something to hold onto, just as much as he did. Your nails brushed against his scalp, down the back of his neck, earning a hum of pleasure from him. You wound your legs tightly around his hips and invited the press of his hard cock against your throbbing core, even through your panties and pajama pants. A faltering groan caught in his chest.
“Needier that I thought this morning,” he remarked. His warm hands drifted down to cup your breasts, his thumbs brushing over dark, pebbled nipples. You sighed into his mouth in response.
You heard the cocky grin in his voice, but for once, you didn’t care. You did need him. You wanted him to fuck the stress and chaos out of you.
…Well, he’d caused most of it, but still. He was gonna damn well fix it.
And he aimed to do just that, with his hands sliding farther down your body with purpose, grabbing the waistband of your pajama pants and roughly sliding them down, along with your panties. Your bare ass felt cold against the tile counter, but you didn’t have too much time to think about it with Ben’s thick fingers probing between the wet, glistening folds of your pussy. He soon found what he was searching for, circling firmly over your clit.
Your hips raised off the counter as you whimpered against his lips and ground yourself against his hand. You broke from his kiss to bury your face in his neck. Ben’s free hand grasped your hip and pulled you right to the edge of the counter.
There he held you down, his brows furrowing in concentration. His fingers sought your entrance and slipped inside you with ease. By now, he knew what angles would have you squirming, writhing, your body arching into him, while your inner walls clenched around his hand.
“Fuck. That’s right, baby doll. I’ve gotcha,” he said roughly, continuing to fuck your pussy with his fingers. His thumb rubbed against your clit between strokes.
The coil in your lower belly began to tighten, the delicious throbbing deep inside beginning to make your thighs shake. But just as you felt yourself tipping over the edge, Ben withdrew his fingers from your sopping channel.
You struggled to catch your breath in shock. Your head raised from Ben’s shoulder to glare at him. When your mouth opened to deliver an indignant protest, he silenced you with his mouth claiming yours. Your nails bit into his shoulder in retaliation, even though you knew it wouldn’t hurt him in the slightest. In fact, it only curved his lips into a smirk against yours.
You slapped him on the shoulder, immensely frustrated, but also laughing. “You’re such an assh—”
Before you could even finish cursing him, he gathered you up again and lifted you off the counter. He walked you over to the couch in the living room. He would’ve loved nothing better than to lay you out across the two-seater table in the kitchen, but he thought the shitty old wood might just give out under the strain of him fucking you. So the living room was a close second, and in this tiny-ass apartment, it was barely a few feet more to walk.
He laid you out underneath him on couch, and it groaned and squeaked under both of your weight. You squeaked too, if for a different reason. It had Ben smirking down at you. He freed himself from the confines of his pajama pants and coated his rock-hard arousal with the leftover wetness coating his hand.
“I approve of the scene change,” you said breathlessly, once again stroking his arms. Your fingers slipped over every dip and plain of muscle.
“Didn’t think you wanted to be fucked on some cold tile,” he said, even if the sentiment behind his words warmed you. You were pretty sure he didn’t used to care about that. At least, before he met you.
He grabbed your hips, lined himself up to your entrance, and his cock breached you smoothly, pushing into you until his hips fit snugly against yours.
“Oh, fuck,” you choked out, your thighs squeezing around his frame.
“Feel good, sweetheart? All fuckin' filled up,” Ben teased, a bit breathless himself. You were a tight fucking fit. He slid out of you experimentally, drawing a moan from your lips. You nodded.
“Yeah, baby. So good,” you freely admitted, panting all the while.
Ben’s hot gaze drew over you as he continued moving hard and fast inside you. He took in your every bare curve, the way hot breaths and sexy moans fell from your lips with every thrust, the way your hair fanned out underneath you and hung off the side of the sofa cushion, the way your hands still explored him and touched him, demanding, but still loving.
For that, it was all the more tantalizing against his skin, warming even the darkest places he tried not to show you.
And every drag of his cock inside you stretched your inner walls in the most delicious of ways. It wasn’t just that he was able to fill you to the fucking brim. He also just knew his way around a woman’s body. He knew you, and he knew exactly how to make you come undone. Even quick and dirty on your couch, he made you feel brand new.
He was right, damn him.
The coil deep inside you snapped. Pleasure crested through you and made your inner walls squeeze him tight, fluttering and pulsing with warmth. You came hard on his cock, hard enough to milk his release shortly after for all he was worth.
His forearms fell to the cushion on either side of your head. You were basically being smothered, but for the moment you didn’t mind. You just held his sweat-slick body against yours while you both caught your breath, each of your heartbeats falling back into a steady rhythm.
He was always so damn warm. It was nice, considering how cold it was this winter, but the thought always made you a bit sad. It reminded you of the power housed in his chest, and every memory he caged there as well.
You laid a gentle kiss on his shoulder. In return, his lips found the side of your head and hesitated there.
“You’re not going to work,” he said. It was more an observation than anything else.
You laughed breathlessly and shook your head. “Nope.”
He nodded. “Let’s go out for breakfast.”
You could get behind that. Your kitchen was finally clean, which meant your kitchen was closed until further notice.
“Shower first,” you stipulated.
You felt Ben’s smile grow against your dewy skin. “All right.”
You sighed, and he guided you to your feet along with him. You had a feeling “breakfast” was going to be lunch by the time you and Ben finally escaped this apartment.
Three years later
“Oh and off she goes.” Felicia cheerfully spoke as Violet wandered off towards a bit of blue chalk lying on the side of the street faster than you believed her small legs should be able to take her. Felicia rushed after her, grabbing her toddler up in her arms just as Vi had snagged the bit of chalk.
Vi gave an angered noise that sounded like some roaring beast at her feet leaving the ground. The kid thrashed about in her mom’s arms, kicking and throwing punches as if she could fight her way out. Felicia laughed through it all.
“Okay, okay.” Felicia placed a smacking kiss on her kid’s round, dirt-smudged cheek before quickly pulling her face out of the way of another small, chubby little fist. “Geez. One of these days you’re gonna knock someone's tooth out.” She huffed, placing Vi back onto the ground.
“No, no, mommy.” Vi humphed, wagging a finger like she was the boss. Felicia merely laughed again, ruffling her head of pink hair.
“That kid needs a leash,” Sevika grumbled from where she walked beside you, pulling her cigarette from her lips.
“She’s just explori--oh and there she goes again.” Felicia booked it after Vi as she made to start writing on some passing man’s pants with the chalk still clutched in her fist.
“Gods. Guppy, you ever catch me daydreaming about shit like having a kid, I give you full permission to smash a rock over my head.” Sevika took a long drag from her smoke after she spoke.
“Only if you agree to do the same for me.” You smirked. Sevika held her first out and you were quick to bump your own against it. She pulled her cigarette from her lips and exhaled the remaining smoke from her lungs.
“Deal.”
“You two are so negative,” Nadia spoke from where she walked just before you two, her eyes nervously scanning over her own kid, now nearly on the cusp of teenage-hood. “Vi is just a very spirited child.” And just as Nadia finished, Vi gave another screeching wail as Felicia lugged her back over to you all.
“Got her!” Felicia cheered as Violet’s eyes began to fill with frustrated tears.
“How are you feeling, little angel?” Nadia asked Viktor who she hadn’t taken her eyes off once since they all started the walk towards the bridge.
And she was nervous for good reason. She and Nikolai, after years and years of hard work and living off scraps, had saved up enough money to send Viktor to school in Piltover.
And not just any school. The best school money could buy. A school that would further feed Viktor’s curiosity and need to experiment as well as give him the connections needed so he could, after he graduated, attend Piltover Academy.
But for him to attend this school and become something over there, he had to stay there and you knew it was keeping everything within Nadia not to break down and forget about all of it.
“The same way I felt when you asked me a minute and thirty seconds ago,” Viktor responded, voice full of sass he’d been using more and more lately.
“Oh.” Nadia gave a weak smile. “Excited then, yes?” She asked, reaching a gentle hand out to run her fingers through his head of wild hair to try and smooth it back down. Violet gave another screeching wail just as Viktor swatted his mother’s hand away.
“Silly goose,” Felicia spoke as Nadia pulled from her son, fingers beginning to fiddle and pick at each other.
“Actually. Just shoot me.” Sevika grumbled under her breath to you as she observed the exchanges between both mothers and their kids.
“Only if you do the same.” Sevika chuckled heartily at your response. “Dee, you said Nikolai’s already over there?” You questioned, trying to quickly keep Nadia’s mind off her son's denial of affection. Nadia blinked her burnt gold eyes at you, that weak smile still plastered to her face.
“Yes. Yes, he went last night to deliver a sculpture to a client. We have a friend he stayed the night with. He should already be on the other side of the bridge and to meet Viktor and bring--” Her voice faltered a bit as she gazed back at her son who confidently limped ahead, looking all too ready for this next step in life. “Bring him to school. Help him settle in.”
“Good.” You quickened your pace a bit to be able to stand beside your friend. Your first friend. One you’d met as soon as she and her family had made it to the Lanes after fleeing their home. She had been just as sweet and kind back then as she was now, but she too held that same sass her son now used. You placed a hand on Nadia’s shoulder.
“Viktor’ll do good. You know that. He’s smart.” Nadia nodded, grabbing hold of your hand tightly and giving you a heavy, grateful-filled look. “We’re here for you…even when Sevika’s a Miss. Dark and Gloomy and Felicia wrangling some feral creature.” Nadia gave an equally as weak huffed laugh.
“Watch. My little creature is gonna grow up and become a famous cage fighter. Hand you all your asses while she’s at it.” Felicia grinned your way, Vi all but hanging upside down as Felicia struggled to keep a hold of her wrestling daughter.
Felicia and Connol, since having Vi, decided Felicia could stop working the mines till Vi was old enough to stay home by herself. It made it so that Connol was rarely home and Felicia feeling a bit more lonely.
So, Felicia found work at your job. Your boss, having a soft spot for mothers and their little ankle biters, gave Felicia temporary work in her office where she could bring Violet while she helped with paperwork.
It’s why Felicia was able to come with you all this morning to see Viktor off. You all would make sure he got across the bridge safe and sound before heading to the diner-shop to start the work day.
After work, your group decided to hold a mock family dinner for Nadia and Nikolai to try and help keep their minds off their son living in a city that would try to swallow him whole every chance it got.
You were trying not to think too hard about your whole group in one place like that. Talking and eating and drinking together, when such festivities had grown less and less frequent.
And it was all thanks to you and Silco of course.
Your fight three years ago had left you both fighting for months. Months that neared on a whole year before Vander stepped in and told you two to knock it off. That you needed to at least act civil when around the whole group, especially since Vi had been born.
It had stopped the fighting but had left you two distant. Hardly a word spoke to each other for a year afterward.
The problem was you both were stubborn. Too proud to admit the fight was over nothing. Too proud to just sit down and talk it over like adults.
You still hardly spoke a word to each other a year after that one, though now you two could be alone together and not have it turn into a verbal battle.
You missed him.
It was something you had been thinking about more and more.
You missed exploring after work with him. Missed long talks while sharing a cigarette. Missed being able to sit next to him in silence, shoulders and thighs pressed together. Being able to sit there and not have the air be full of tension.
You missed your friend.
You cursed yourself out daily for having had a hand in losing his close friendship all because you had been scared and ran away. You should have just stayed in that cave and told him what you were thinking--how you were feeling.
But that chance passed you by and you were stuck in this tension-filled now.
Shouting pulled you from your thoughts.
You thought at first it was Violet again, but it was too loud--too many different shouts. And when you looked to the little girl, you found she had calmed in her mom's arms, watching as a pair of people rushed past your group towards the bridge.
“Oh no.” Nadia gasped as you all rounded the corner, finding the mouth of the bridge a cluster of people shouting and screaming at the enforcers standing there, trying to keep them back.
You didn’t have to peer too hard past everyone to see a large, chain fence had been put up, blocking anyone from going in.
Nadia pulled from your touch and grabbed hold of her son, who didn’t shoo her away this time.
“What the fuck.” Sevika hissed, plucking her cigarette from her lips and flicking it to the ground. “No chance in hell they’ve blocked us out.”
But none of you would ever put it past them. They’d done it before a long while ago, back when Vander’s dad was your age and The Gray ran more rabid in the streets.
“Do you know what happened?” Felicia asked the next person who tried to rush by. They took a small second to look back at you all, eyes shifting to look at Vi who was now greeting them with round after round of hi.
“They raised the toll. Five hundred.” You felt your blood run cold. The old toll had been hard enough to pay and now this?
Five hundred?
That was more than most made in a week’s worth of work.
“And even if you can pay, they’re askin’ thousands of questions just to find any reason to not let you through. Not unless you have proof.” And off they rushed into the crowd, leaving you and your group fuming.
“Fuck this--Vander’s gotta give in after hearing this shit.” Sevika gruffed and you agreed.
Vander would agree to start fighting back like you and the others had been wanting. He’d held you all back for years saying nothing that had happened was worth going to war for.
But this was worth it.
They were cutting you all off from the rest of the world like one might do to a decaying limb.
Sevika made to march back through the fissures to find Vander, but something caught her eye.
She froze.
You froze.
“Where the hell is Nadia?” Felicia asked as Vi became fussy messing in her arms all over again. Your chest tightened as you scanned over the rioting crowd. Tightened painfully when you caught a flash of ruddy red hair disappearing within it.
You rushed for her, leaving Sevika to curse and all but command Felicia to stay put as she ran after you. You didn’t slow as she called your name. Didn’t slow as you pushed and shoved through the crowd, hissing and snapping harshly at any who refused to move.
Sevika shoved those who refused away with one arm easily, having caught up to you. The few that had all but glued their feet to the ground took one look at your menacing friend and moved before you could even get to them.
“--see. Himerdinger himself selected my son to attend Piltover Preparatory School.” You heard Nadia’s accented voice before you saw her, but when you pushed through the last few bodies, you spotted her. She was shoving a gold detailed letter into the hands of an enforcer by a door closest to the tollhouse. It was the acceptance letter Viktor had received.
The enforcers, who you recognized immediately to be Rufus, who should have retired years ago, nodded on a heavy sigh.
“Five hundred.” He handed the letter back to Nadia who was quick to give it to Viktor, who was pulling lightly at the skirt of her dress shaking his head, looking like a small kid again.
“We cannot affor--” Nadia cut him off with a fierce gaze.
“You are going to that school.” She demanded, digging into her pockets for a small pouch full of coins. She fished out the correct amount and handed it to Rufus who nodded to another enforcer standing guard by the door to unlock it.
“Nadia--” You called just as an enforcer stepped before you, keeping you back. You bared your teeth at him. “Move it.” But he only continued to shove you back, just as more enforcers came to shove others back.
“You are going to work hard. And it will be hard, but you will do good things. Great things for this world.” You heard Nadia continue. You caught a glance at her, finding her on her knees before her son, holding his tear-streaked face and looking so proud. “Do not let them snuff out your spark. I love you, my little angel. Always remember that.” And you were shoved away just as she wrapped her son up in her arms for what might be the last time.
You hit Sevika’s solid body, but she held you steady. She flashed you a smirk, gray eyes steady and full of that burning anger you all held before she shoved the enforcer back, his armor rattling violently as he fell to his ass.
You used the opening to rush over the fallen officer toward Nadia, who was watching Viktor walk through the gate door, which slammed shut and locked behind him. He cast his mom one last look, who steadied him with an encouraging nod. You grabbed her arm as the enforcer Sevika knocked over shouted at you.
“Why the fuck did you do that?” You asked, trying not to let your words bite seeing your friend’s eyes had turned all red and glossy. “You shouldn’t have paid that goddamn toll.”
“It is only money.” She started, almost fighting against you as you tried to pull her away from the fence. Her burnt gold eyes, which welled over onto her flushed cheeks, kept track of her son the whole time. “I would do anything for him. Anything.”
Shouting grew more aggressive behind you. A sound that normally would have thrilled you, but with Nadia still in the heart of it all, it was dreadful.
She couldn’t fight. Didn’t know how and could hardly pick a fish-filled crate up without help. She would only get caught in the crossfire of a fight like this.
“Nadia--Nadia we have to go.” You insisted, tugging sharply at her arm. She allowed you to pull her closer.
You turned and--
Boom.
The sound echoed sharply through the air.
The sound of a gunshot.
People screamed and began to run around like chickens who’d had their heads cut off. You spotted the person who Felicia had stopped to question laying face first on the ground, red pooling beneath them.
The enforcers who had fired looked just as terrified as everyone else, his gun shaking in his hands.
Rufus shoved past you both shouting orders at him and the others to not fire.
Another gunshot sounded further down the line and that was when you held Nadia tight and sprinted toward Sevika. Sevika grabbed hold of your own arm and began dragging you back toward Felicia just as you were dragging Nadia.
Another gunshot roared through the air.
And then another.
Nadia tripped, startled scream on her lips. You held her tight and continued to pull her along.
You all just needed to get away. Far away from the enforcers and their need to quince their bloodthirst.
Felicia was holding a screaming Vi tight to her chest, feet already moving as soon as she spotted you all.
“That way. That way!” Sevika shouted to Felicia who turned the corner she was pointing at sharply.
“The fucking brothels?!” Felicia shouted back.
“Where the fuck else!” Sevika hissed.
“I can’t bring my kid in there!” Felicia called as Sevika wound the corner after her.
“Cover her eyes!”
“I can’t--” Nadia called your name on a winded breath, “I can’t--” Her pace began to slow.
“Just a little further, okay, and then we can sto--” But you felt Nadia drop to her knees just as you two turned the corner. Her weight growing so heavy it nearly pulled you down with her.
A painful start hissed through your body when you found her on the ground, clutching at her shoulder and looking pale. Too pale even for her.
Red splattered on her shaking fingertips. Red that had dripped here and there on the ground leading directly to your friend.
Rock bit into your knees as you rushed for her, flipping her onto her back to find the front of her dress soaked in blood.
“Did--did he get across?” She sputtered, fear high in her eyes. Pain screwed her face up, tears never ceasing their fall from her eyes.
“Sevika!” You screamed, grabbing for Nadia’s hand to pull it from her shoulder. She gave a scream that tore at your chest and made you hesitate. “It’s--it’s just your shoulder.” You tried to smooth, pressing your palm against the bleeding wound that only made her pain grow. “It’s fine--Sevika!”
Water was in the blood.
Water was yours to command yet blood never wanted to behave as nicely as water. Not even as nicely as alcohol which held more than less water in it than blood did.
You’d never been able to control it. Never been able to slow the flow of it even from something as small as a paper cut.
You tried anyway, squeezing your eyes shut and focusing on the water flowing within her blood. Willed it, begged it to halt just long enough for someone to come to patch her up.
Sevika cursed sharply when she came to your side but you kept focusing on your task. Kept pushing your power harder and harder even when it began to make your head spin.
“V-Viktor--” Nadia gave a small sob. “Did--get--” Another sob that burned at your eyes. “Please.”
“He did. He got across.” Your voice came out too wobbly. Too weak.
“We gotta get her out of here.” Sevika’s voice sounded, her strong hands gently starting to pull you away.
You let her, but kept your focus on your task. On wrangling her blood with your magic and pushing it back as if trying to reverse the flow of some powerful river.
Nadia gave a brokenly pained cry as Sevika picked her up as gently as she could. You followed, vision beginning to dot the longer you pushed your magic to work on such a hard task.
Black fuzzed through your eyes and the next thing you knew you were standing inside a dimly lit brothel.
Black fuzzed at your eyes as you watched Sevika lay Nadia on a pillow-covered bed, an older Yordle assessing the damage. She turned her eyes onto Sevika looking all too grim.
Black fuzzed at your eyes and Vi’s screaming rang through your ears, loud and piercing. A hand grabbed your shoulder and you pushed it quickly off of you.
Your magic snapped back into your body so hard it made you stumble backward out of the room you had been led into. You tried to summon it back but that fuzz turned into dull buzzing in your ears. Made your breath heavy and tight in your lungs. Made your stomach twist and your mouth fill with hot saliva like you might throw up.
A few of the employees of the brothel you all barged into peeked their heads out of their rooms, eyes wide and some even filled with tears. They must have heard about what happened at the bridge. Must have seen you all rush in and known what had happened as soon as they spotted Nadia--Nadia--
Your stomach rolled just as your heart twisted like some old rag and your eyes blurred.
You blinked and you were outside.
Blinked and you were down the street.
Blinked and you were looking at your shaking hands.
Blood. Nadia’s blood.
Oh gods oh gods.
Gods.
Where the fuck was Janna?
Where was she?
She was supposed to be the Lanes’ guardian spirit or some shit. Supposed to protect you all. Keep shit like this from happening to you all.
And--and she’d just left.
Left you all to suffer and die by the hands of Piltover who would never stop trying to take, take, take. They would take till their bellies were round and full and still their hunger would not be sated.
Hands grabbed your arm, tugging at you. You shove whoever it was away. A shove that only made the person grab you tighter.
You blinked and found it was an enforcer. Two. One shouted down the way for backup.
Your head spun.
The effort from trying to use your powers on something as hard as blood made it hard to re-focus--to breathe.
Before you could try to fight them off, a blur of red and gray flashed past you, attacking the enforcers for you.
The sound of a blade zinging free and the gurgled sounds of a dying breath filled your ears as you staggered back, trying desperately to get yourself together. More screams. More sounds of death and soon someone was before you. Someone who was calling your name sharply.
You tensed a bit when hands grabbed hold of your face, body readying to fight, but the feel of those hands. Of chilled, calloused, and scarred skin gave you pause. Had you blink and blink that fog away till you found Silco’s face there.
He looked worried. Really worried.
Worried for you.
Only you.
“Hey--hey are you hurt? Did they hurt you?” Fingers smooth over your skin, pulling your face closer and closer. You blinked again, eyes filling with liquid fire as you grabbed desperately for his hands. Hands that continued to hold you tight, to hold you so close you felt his forehead brush against yours.
Out of all the touches and almost touches that had happened between you two your whole lives, this was the one you craved most. One you pressed into. One that had those tears you fought back rolling down your cheeks and over her fingers in hot streams.
“Tell me--what happened? I heard about the bridge and--”
“Nadia--” Weak. Your voice sounded so weak in your ear and, even though you typically would have cringed at such weakness being shown, you didn’t care. Couldn’t care. Not when your friend could be dying. Not in front of Silco. “She’s--”
Silco pulled you into his chest, arms wrapping around your body tightly and you just crumbled. Just completely broke down--snot and all. Sobs shook your body so violently you were sure they were shaking through Silco as well.
But Silco didn’t pull away. Only held you tighter, like he might try to press you into him. Only smoothed his hands over your back and pressed his cheek against your head, keeping you almost completely surrounded by him.
“Silco!” It was Vander’s voice and Vander’s footfalls that were growing closer and closer. “Where are the other girls?” He asked, worry high in his voice.
“Where is Felicia? Vi?” Connol sounded even more worried than Vander. As he should. His whole life had been at the bridge. His whole life could have been taken away in one fell swoop. You grabbed two fist fulls of Silco’s leather jacket, holding on for dear life as you fought to reign back your chest-aching sobs. As Connol all but hissed your name, trying to frantically stir you from your breaking.
“Don’t.” Silco hissed right back at him, a hand coming to hold the back of your head as if to keep you shielded from your friend. “I saw her come out from the entertainment district. I would guess they are all there.” Silco had hardly finished his words before someone, most likely Connol, rushed off.
“It's not safe here. We need to get out of view.” It was Benzo’s voice that spoke, the man sure to have joined them without a second thought. Silco was silent as his fingertips brushed over the back of your neck. Seemed to be waiting for you and for whenever you were ready, no matter the danger that lurked through the streets. You wrestled yourself to move, pulling slowly from Silco’s hold as you tried to bite down your weakness.
Silco let his hands linger on you. Let his hand brush over your cheek and over your shoulder, seafoam eyes scanning you over, looking for everything and anything that might be a harm to you.
He took hold of your hand firmly like he was refusing to let you go again. You were glad for it. Glad for his support, even when tension between you had grown choking. Tensions that, in that moment, seemed to be forgotten.
Vander’s face hardened when his eyes took in your upset nature. Benzo’s eyes grew sullen.
You never cried. You’d come close, but you never cried. Especially in front of others.
It was something Silco and Vander both knew. Something that was hardening Vander against the cruel reality that someone could be hurt. Someone could be dead.
Hardened into that anger.
The wolf paced behind those gray eyes.
Was growing stronger and stronger, ready to be let loose upon the world.
Sevika was right. He would agree to start the revolution you all had dreamed of now.
Start a war.
“Who?” Vander asked. Your lip trembled.
“Nadia. I--I don’t know--” Silco’s body pressed closer to yours in a silent telling that you could lean on him. That he would be there for you no matter what.
Vander nodded, beginning to head off in the direction Connol had run, Benzo quick on his heel.
“It’s not safe out here. Let's go.” It was a command. One you wanted to follow but your body locked up against.
Go? Go back to that brothel Nadia was laying in? Go back to that place and see her dying?
Silco’s hand pulled from your own only for it to wrap around your waist, pressing you into his side.
“I’m here. I’m here with you.” He didn’t promise that Nadia would be okay. He couldn’t promise that. No one could. Not when they didn’t know any true doctors. Not when, even if it was just a shot to her shoulder, could be fatal if left unattended for long.
But he did promise he was there.
That he wouldn’t leave your side, no matter what.
And it was enough to get your body moving back towards the entertainment district.
The typically busy street looked like it had been abandoned. Looked like it was closed down for good.
You led them to the brothel everyone was hold up in, finding Connol and Felicia sitting just in the entrance on a nest of pillows, a small group of workers cooing at Vi who was going up to each and grabbing for any shiny jewelry or pretty hair piece they wore.
One of them rushed past you three and was quick to lock the door. And bolt lock it. And shove a plank of wood across its frame. She was just as quick to rush to stand before you all, giving a small bow of her head before rushing back off towards the back rooms.
“Any word about Nadia?” Vander asked Connol and Felicia.
“I was asked to leave the room because this little troublemaker was very upset,” Felicia spoke, a small smile pulling to her lips as Vi huffed her mom's way. “Sevika’s with her…it’s been quiet.”
Your throat tightened.
Your eyes burned.
Your stomach rolled.
She wasn’t okay. She was dying. Dead. Laying in some brothel she would have blushed furiously at just from a glance in its direction.
“Let’s sit.” Silco calmly spoke to you. Only you. You nodded and let him pull you along.
“I--I’m sorry.” You all but heaved out past your thick throat. Silco sat down on another little nest of pillows, gently sitting you down next to him. He didn’t pull his hand away from your waist, even when he no longer needed to guide you around like some lost dog.
“You’ve done nothing you need to apologize for.” He calmly spoke again.
This was the closest you’d been to him in a long, long time. The longest he’s touched you in a long, long time.
And gods you had missed it. Gods you cursed yourself for being so stupid and stubborn.
You moved the slightest bit so that your thigh was pressed firmly against his. So that you could look up at his face and take in all his sharp, handsome features. Look into those seafoam eyes he was already watching you carefully with.
“I shouldn’t have--” Silco cut you off with a small shake of his head, knowing where you were going with this.
“You don’t--”
“I don’t want to fight anymore. Please. Can we--please.” You begged on a breath so that only he might be able to hear.
This wasn’t something you really wanted to be doing in front of your friends. In front of strangers and in the heart of a brothel but you needed to say it. Needed to stop your fighting before something happened to you or worse, something happened to him. You wouldn’t be able to live with yourself if something horrible happened to him and you hadn’t at least tried to remedy it.
Silco watched over your face for a long moment. A moment that only had your aching heart ache even more.
Did he disagree? Did he not want to try and mend the hurts between you two?
A small nod helped ease a bit of the ach in your chest.
“I don’t want to fight either.” He breathed back, keeping his words just for you as you had for him. “I should be apologizing. The way I acted was immature and--”
“It was pretty childish.” Silco paused for a moment, slight surprise in his eyes at your teasing but you found the edge of his lips pull upward.
“I am in the middle of an apology here.” He huffed back. An amused huff. It made your lips tug at their corners.
“Oh sorry. Go on.” You shifted a bit as if to get more comfortable.
“You’re insufferable.” Silco shook his head at you.
“Thank you.” You proudly said. Silco chuckled and you did the same, but your amusement faded out as pain spiked in your chest at everything that had happened. Your eyes scanned his face over once more, finding a bit of dirt smudged on his cheek from his work. They must have dropped everything and rushed from the mines when they heard what had happened.
Hesitantly, you brought your hand up to brush that bit of soot away and Silco didn’t shrug you away. He leaned into your touch, eyes almost fluttering closed at your skin on his.
“I’m…I’m really terrified.” You breathed, eyes burning all over again. Silco nodded, cupping your hand within his, holding it against his cheek.
“I know.”
“What if…” Your voice broke and your lips trembled. “What if she dies? I’m…she was the first person to show me kindness and--” Your voice failed you then.
“Then…we’ll deal with it. Together. Head on. Just like we always do.” His thumb brushed over your knuckles in further comfort. A comfort you anchored yourself to. Let your eyes flutter closed and just breathe it in.
Even when he hadn’t showered, he still managed to smell fresh. Like mist. Like a calm lake.
His forehead pressed firmly against yours once more. You weren’t entirely sure who had moved closer, whether that be you or Silco, but it didn’t matter. All that mattered was he was close to you again. Was telling you silently that he still cared for you. That he would always care for you and you silently told him the same.
“Just because your friend was bleeding out all over my establishment doesn't mean you can fondle each other here without paying.” A rasping voice spoke, spooking you and Silco from the tender moment you had been sharing. Spooked you two so bad you pulled apart, finding the older Yordle walking into the center of the entrance room.
The workers who had been cooing and playing cheerfully with Violet were quick to their feet at the Yordle's appearance. They rushed off, bowing their heads at you and your friends, and the Yordle before rushing back towards their rooms. She only shook her head at them.
“We weren’t--it wasn’t like that.” Silco started pink dusting over his cheeks in a way that had Felicia chuckle knowingly and you feeling all flustered as well. Benzo wasn’t as discrete with showing his amusement, all but bellowing out a laugh that nearly had him folding in half.
The Yordle took a long drag from her cigarette and blew the heavy smoke in a tight stream toward the ceiling a few moments later.
“Boy, I work in a den of lust and love. I’ve seen it all and know what’s what.” Silco’s blush only grew deeper, his eyes glancing your way in his embarrassment of being singled out.
And despite your own embarrassment, you could help the small chuckle that pfffted from your lips. One that only had that blush deepened, but tugged that easy smile you adored to his lips.
“How is she?” Vander cut in before anything else could be said. The Yordle leveled him with a look.
“Babette.” Vander’s brows furrowed in slight confusion.
“Uh--what---”
“My name is Babette.” Vander blinked, looking a bit lost for words.
“Uh--Vander.” Babette nodded her head slowly, taking another long drag from her cigarette.
“I know. People talk.” Vander gave a small exhale of breath just as she gave a release of smoke.
“Babette,” Vander started, “How is our friend?”
“You’re lucky this is the place you barged into. I’ve been doing this job a long time now. Seen it all. Had to learn to patch up bullet and knife wounds alike. People think just because they are paying they can do whatever they wish. No manners.” Babette mused on a shake of her head, making you nervous all over again. “She’ll live.” You breathed a shuddering sigh in relief, Silco’s hand giving yours a squeeze. “But she’s weak. Will be weak for a long while. Such a small thing, that one.”
You were quick to your feet, Silco following suit. “Thank you. What--how much do you want?” You asked.
Between the six of you in the room now, you could probably scrooge up…seven…eight coins. Sevike would try to horde whatever she had on her, but she would add in another three or four coins. Probably only bronze…none of you would be carrying around any gold.
“You couldn’t afford it, sweetness.” Babette purred, making you feel all flustered all over again. “All I want in return is for you to take a stand for us.” Babette’s eyes found Vander’s again. Found him and settled him with a hard, burning stare. Vander nodded at her.
You saw the wolf pace and pace, mawl dripping in hungry justice.
“Thank you.” Babette gave a wave of her hand as she took another drag of her cigarette.
You started for the backrooms, Silco still having yet to take his hand out of your and you found you could only be grateful for his continued support. More than grateful.
Sevika leaned against the wall next to the door Nadia was behind, already watching you two walk towards her. “She’s sleeping.” Sevika huffed, eyes glancing down the hall to where more workers were peeking their heads out of their doors. They disappeared under her gaze, all except one who winked her way before popping back into her room. Sevika gave a smirk at this. “We gonna break their enforcers' skulls?” She asked, her gaze darkening as she looked at Silco.
“More than break,” Silco spoke coolly.
“And if Vander chickens out again?” Sevika asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Would that make any difference now?” Sevika scoffed.
“Nah.”
“Good.” You…found you didn’t like this. Like this…this almost behind closed-door talk. Like Vander would give up on fighting for his friends. Like Vander would give up fighting for everyone. For freedom.
He wouldn’t. It wouldn’t come to that.
But as you pulled out of Silco’s grip and made it into the room Nadia slept in, finding her looking all too weak, you almost didn’t believe your own thoughts.
Part if you believed Vander would back out, if under the right circumstances.
And Silco…you knew he never would.
He would die before he gave up hope on the future of Zuan.
And you would be lying to yourself if you said it didn’t scare you.
Tumblr media
Your whole group made the journey from the entertainment district an hour later to safely bring Nadia back home, which was a tiny, run-down hole in the wall squished between and under other-like homes. It was a mess of all sorts of art and science supplies and half-finished projects. The space was cut roughly in half by a hung curtain, hand painted by Nadia with various swirling designs, to keep their makeshift bedroom separate.
Felicia and Connol, after double-checking to make sure Nadia would be alright, had headed home, their daughter having turned into a sleep-needing beast in Connol’s arms.
Sevika rummaged through Nadia’s small kitchen now, looking for any sort of alcohol she could get her hands on. When she started to shout back to Nadia about it, even when the woman was definitely not supposed to be roused in such a way, you excused yourself outside to find Silco.
You found him sitting on a pile of crates and barrels near Nadia’s home, a half-smoked cigarette dangling from his fingers. Vander and Benzo had been out here a few minutes ago, standing beside him. You assumed they must have left, whether that be back to work or to The Last Drop.
You weren’t sure and you didn’t entirely care in that moment, not when Silco's seafoam eyes found you before the door had even swung shut behind you.
You made your way down the ramp Nikolai had built Viktor over top of the original steps there to make it just a little easier for his son to get home before you came to a stop a little ways before Silco.
You held his gaze as he ran his hand through his hair, which he had allowed out of its usual bun to hang loosely around his shoulders in gentle waves.
He held your gaze right back, offering his cigarette out to you. You carefully took it, only for him to grab hold of your wrist and yank you closer. Your heart spiked in your chest and began to beat erratically against your rips at the sudden movement.
Neither pair of eyes left the other for a long moment. Neither of you moved. Neither of you wanted to move. Not when you were so close again. Not when you truly wanted to be even closer.
“How is she holding up?” Silco asked and you begged your heart to calm its wildness.
“As fine as someone who's just been shot and sent their son off to live in the belly of the beast.” You murmured, pulling a nod from Silco.
“Alive. That’s what matters most. We’ll figure everything out. Head on.” He moved his legs so that they hung over the sides of the crate he was sitting on. So that his knees were on either side of your legs, brushing against them gently.
“Together.” You agreed.
“Together.” He repeated, eyes dipping to glance at your lips. You moved closer now that he had created space for such a thing, the front of your thighs pressing into the edge of the crate and his thighs laying against them comfortably. You’re own eyes dipped almost greedily to look at his own lips. Lips you thought about too often…no--no, maybe didn’t think about them enough.
“Thank you….for being there for me.” Silco gave your wrist still in his grip a gentle squeeze.
“No need for all that. I will always be there for you when you need me.” You felt warm ash from the cigarette you held fall over your fingers, but you dared not pull away from him. Not when you’d been away from him for so long. Not when you had missed his close friendship so dearly.
A long silence filled the space between you two. A silence that was familiar--warm, not the foully tense thing it had been for one too many years.
“Would…” You started, your heart beginning to beat loudly in your chest again. Fear, anxiety, and flusteredness all tumbling about within it like some riptide.
“Would…?” Silco questioned, eyes ever watchful yet so--so soft. A softness only you had never been allowed to see. A softness you had realized maybe too late was only ever for you.
You hoped it wasn’t too late.
You prayed it.
“Would you…would you like to pretend that we’re back at my pool?” You spoke on a voice smaller than a whisper. A voice that was anything but full of all the nerves rolling about in you.
Silco’s eyes widened the smallest bit at your question, his lips parting in the same smallness to show you a small flash of his chipped front teeth you loved to see.
“What--but…I thought you didn’t want us to fight any longer?” He whispered back.
“I don’t but…I was scared.” Silco’s brows furrowed in slight question.
“Scared? Of--me?”
“I--Felicia talked to me…after.” Silco nodded in understanding. After your fight in The Last Drop. He’d seen her rush after you. “She told me--well she said I should tell you why I ran away.”
“Because you thought I was going to hurt you?” You gave a small huff through your nose as you brushed a bit of his dark hair behind his ear. An action that had that delicate blush spreading over his cheeks all over again.
“Silco you could have anyone. You’ve had anyone. I just--I don’t want to be just anyone to you because…you’re not just anyone to me.” You rested your hand on his cheek, rubbing your thumb gently over his flushed skin.
“Anyone--” He said your name just as softly as he looked at you, “You aren’t just anyone to me. You’ve--you’ve never been just anyone to me. Why do…” He seemed to grow nervous then, eyes drooping slightly away from your own. “Why do you think I waited so long to…to try to kiss you.” Even though the last part was whispered, you heard it nonetheless. He shook his head slightly. “You are--are everything to me and I’m sorry you felt like you were anything less.”
You moved your hand gently along his sharp cheek to find his chin, lifting it so that you might see those seafoam eyes of his you adored. Eyes that shone bright with such--such admiration for you in them. A look that had you forgetting all about the cigarette in your other hand.
That horrid, nagging voice clawed at the back of your mind as it always did and always would. A voice that shouted at you all the things that could happen if you let yourself believe his words. A voice that wanted nothing more than to protect you from possible hurt, but it was also a voice that would only ever hold you back.
And it was a voice shoved an iron-clad hand over to silence it.
“Would you like to pretend?” You whispered again, letting your thumb brush just below the curve of his lower lip, which parted on a shaky inhale of breath.
“I don’t want to pretend.” He whispered back, hand moving up from where he held your wrist to pull you closer. “Let’s just--face it. Head on.” You nodded, nose brushing against his. A brush that had your blood pounding right alongside the beat your heart had set.
“Together?” Silco’s hand ended its journey, finding rest on your jaw. He guided you closer. So close you felt his breath ghost over your lips, sending a tingling flare through them.
“Together.” He agreed, eyes flickering between yours and your lips.
Waiting. He was waiting.
He was nervous. Nervous you might run away again. Nerves that made your heart ache for him past its beating.
You pushed closer, lips brushing against his, turning that tingling into a flame. A flame that roared into a blaze as you fit your lips against his like you would a cigarette. And just like a cigarette, his lips against yours filled your head with a pleasurable fog. Had your lips begging and begging for more.
Silco inhaled deeply as he moved his lips against yours steadily, his other hand wrapping around your waist to pull you flush against him. You let him hold you, his strong--safe--hold only making your head spin faster and faster.
Forehead rested against forehead as you two pulled apart, panting in shared air.
A goofy grin spread over your kiss-puffed lips. A grin that pulled an equally as goofy smile to Silco’s own lips, turned near red from your kiss.
“Was that--was that okay?” Silco asked on uneven breaths. You gave a small huff in amusement, running your fingers through his hair just like they had always itched to do. An action that had Silco’s eyes fluttering in utter enjoyment.
“I would have thrown you into the harbor if I hadn’t.” You teased, nuzzling your nose against his.
“Good thing,” He started, nuzzling your nose right back. “‘Cause I can’t swim.”
“You have to learn. Could save your life one day.” That soft look returned in full then as he looked over your face. A look that was full of such joy it only brought the same bright joy to you.
“Only if you teach me.” You nodded.
“Gladly.” And his lips seared into yours once more.
inspired by a quote from Save Me An Orange by Hayley Grace: what more did you want from me? i gave you my heart my soul my body i let you build a home inside of me but you still went to the store and bought a lighter just to set me on fire did you want to watch me burn?
You’re usually an optimist but it wasn’t until San smashed the vase you bought and painted together at that one arts and crafts store that you realized optimism could only take you so far.
A screaming match broke out immediately. Words bounced off the walls, echoing in your small apartment as fingers were being pointed. He followed you around the entire house as you tried to walk away from the conversation, pinging in your ear like a fly.
San gets emotional when he cares. It was the first thing you liked about him when you first started to talk. How nice would it be to be with someone so well in-tune with their emotions that they don’t why away from it?
If only you’d known it would result in this.
The relationship was done for. It had been for a while. He had been far too busy juggling classes, work, and his new friends who seemed to suddenly fill all the time he used to spend with you. You’d barely even seen him in weeks, and when you did, it was like you were fighting for scraps of his attention.
San’s voice cracked as he shouted behind your head. “You think I don’t know I’ve been busy? I’ve been juggling everything, trying to keep it all together, and you—you—think I don’t feel guilty? You want me to just drop everything? Stop hanging out with my friends? Quit school? What do you want from me?”
He was following you now, not letting you get a moment of peace. You forced yourself to focus on the task of cleaning up the shards, trying to block out his words as you looked for the broom around your house.
“Do you think I want this? You think I want to feel like this? You think I want to hurt you? But you keep demanding more from me, and I can’t do it anymore! I can’t just stop living my life to fix yours!”
“Oh fuck off!” You barked back, finally finding the broom that was in an odd spot in your wardrobe (probably because San had placed it there the last time he used it). You were now growing more annoyed.
“Don’t curse at me! Listen to me for goodness sake!”
Your hands trembled around the broom handle, but you marched towards the vase shards and started sweeping, trying not to hear the poison dripping from his mouth. You had given up on fighting—there was no point anymore. He was too far gone, wrapped up in his own world that was so difficult for him to show up.
“You’re too much, alright?” he spat, his voice cracking with frustration. “I can’t breathe, I can’t think. Every time I try to focus on something else, you’re right there, needing something from me. I can’t fix this. I can’t keep being suffocated—“
You dropped the broom.
You turned slowly, meeting his gaze for the first time, and in that moment, you never felt like this about him before.
“Do you hear yourself?” Your voice was shaking, but it was steady, sharp. “In that whole rant you just forced me to hear, not once did you mention us—not once did you mention me like i’m not in this fucking relationship with you! Not once did you mention all i’ve done for you, and the only time you did was to insult me!”
San opened his mouth, but nothing came out. He just stood there, eyes wide, lips trembling.
You stepped forward as if to challenge his speechlessness, your heart pounding in your chest. “What the fuck are you still doing here then?!”
The room fell silent.
And then, out of nowhere, he tried to reach for you.
It was a movement fuelled by panic if he was truly honest, it was a final desperate attempt to fix things without actually knowing how.
He just knew that he had to have you in his arms and you’d melt. His hand caught yours, pulling you closer, but you yanked it away.
He stepped closer, his breath ragged, reaching for you again with a look in his eyes that was pure guilt you knew all too well.
Your stern face broke when he managed to get you in his large strong arms that wrapped around you.
You stood there, shaking, breathing hard, barely able to hold back the tears.
“Why do you keep doing this to me?” Your cracking voice was muffled against his hard chest.
And then, in his painful silence, he cupped your face and pressed his lips against yours.
You did not stop him.
In fact, you couldn’t.
His next kiss was more desperate and frantic than the last, like he was trying to compensate for all the times he had utterly let you down.
When he finally found the self control to pull back, both of you were panting, faces flushed, hearts racing. He looked at you with a mix of fear, guilt, and longing in his eyes. He wiped your damp cheeks, cupping the sides of your face.
"I don’t mean to," He whispered. “I-I swear, everything I said, I-“
You shook your head in denial, wanting to just shut him up with more kisses knowing if you both talked, you’d eventually argue.
For once, you didn’t want to fight. If the relationship was crashing and burning right now, might as well get one last lick out of it, right?
Metaphorically, and quite literally.
San groaned softly into your mouth, his hands coming up to tangle in your hair and snake to the small of your back as he deepened the kiss with his tongue.
"You drive me insane," He breathed against her lips, breaking the kiss to look into her eyes.
It was true, you always had, in the best and worst ways possible. The feeling was mutual as you stared back at him.
He couldn't resist your pull, the way you were in the moment consumed him entirely. His hands roamed your curves, and reached down to grip your ass firmly as he walked you backwards towards the couch.
You let out a soft gasp, your fingers digging into his waist as you let yourself get sat down with him positioned above you. His knee perched up right between your slightly parted legs.
The friction his knee brushing between your legs sent a jolt of desire straight to your core. He could feel your pulse quickening, and your breath hitching as he sucked and kissed the sides of your neck.
Your hands slipped beneath his black shirt, seeking for skin. With a slight eager tug, he took it off without any argument, revealing his lean muscled torso that you did not hesitate to touch and admire knowing it was going to be the last time.
Instead of letting that knowledge crush you or him, with a low moan, he just leaned into your touch.
“Tell me to stop…” He breathed out, hands on your shoulders to steady himself. He struggled to maintain control as his arousal throbbed against the inside of his zipper.
“Keep going.” You replied in a husky whisper.
With a groan, he gave in to the temptation. His tongue met yours, as his hands slid down to your chest to cup your breasts through the thin fabric of your top, having to bite back a smirk when your back arched into his technique.
Your nimble fingers freed him from his jeans. Unbuttoning, and then zipping down before massaging his hard on through the fabric of his underwear. A breath of relief escaped his lips when his throbbing cock was finally freed.
He helped you out of your top, watching you stroke his impressive length in your hands from above. His hands glided down your back and unclasped your bra, letting your breast sit in all its glory.
He was going to take care of you first until your mouth engulfed him without missing a beat.
“O-oh my god.” His hips bucked involuntarily forward as your skilled hand continued to stroke, the dual sensations of her and her fingers wrapped around his member threatening to overwhelm him.
San’s eyes rolled back as you took him entirely into your mouth. His body weight leaning on his forearms that were on either sides of your head, holding onto the back of the couch for dear life.
Your skilled tongue and throat working in tandem to bring him to the brink of madness. The wet heat blanketing his aching cock was almost too much to bear, each bob of her head sent him more and more over the edge.
"Oh f-fuck!” His mouth hung open as he fisted your hair and fought the urge to thrust deeper.
A part of him couldn’t make sense why this was happening now of all times. He could’ve just taken your desperation to touch him for granted but something about it didn’t feel right.
With effort and a hell lot of focus, San gently stopped you before he could cum. He stroked the side of your face when you looked up at him confused. He shot one of the sweetest dimpled smiles at you.
Seeing that dimpled smile light up your face.
With a hand behind your head, he laid you back on the couch gently. Your hands politely stayed on your own chest, cupping them as you watched his next move.
In one swift motion, he tugged down your underwear with your pyjama shorts and tossed them away.
One of your legs get thrown over his shoulder, and he used his other hand to part your leg wider. His head moved down to your glistening sex and his tongue licked a strip up your folds.
Air got caught in your throat. You let out a shaking deep breath through your lips. His hand on your thigh moved up to your chest, intertwining his fingers with your fingers against your racing heartbeat.
You gripped onto his fingers every time he’d do something that sent shockwaves through your body either with his lips, tongue or his nose. He kissed your sensitive clit, alternating his tongue between that and pounding into your entrance.
“San,” You whined, which only encouraged him to keep going. You tilted your chin upwards, facing the ceiling as tears began welling in your eyes. Unclear if it was the pleasure or the sinking feeling in the out of your stomach.
Then you felt that body shock again, jolting you as you let out a loud moan.
You met his eyes. Those cat-like eyes staring back at you between your legs with laser focus before lazily shutting when he turned his head to the side to lap up your slick arousal from the inner part of your thighs.
He got up and took off his underwear before hovering on-top of you, centring his hard shaft just past your entrance as he supported himself up by the armrest behind your head.
His chain necklace to drop down and dangle in your face.
He gazed into your eyes, reaching down to rub your slick folds once more. He leaned down to kiss you, tasting yourself on his lips as he readjusted his hard dick between your legs. Your hands wrapped themselves in the dip of his waist as your knees pressed against his hips.
“We can’t keep fighting forever,” You told him in a faint whisper.
Leaning down, he distracted you by capturing your lips into a tender loving kiss to slowly pushed in. He felt your teeth on his lip as your walls adjusted to him.
“I know.” Was all he could murmur against your face as a hand cupped one side of your face.
He kept having your lips in between his as he started to move, his hips rolling in a slow rhythm designed to slowly ease into you. Small gasps escaped your lips and you clutched onto his biceps for support while your neck stretched upwards.
“Baby, you feel incredible.” He picked up the pace slightly, his thrusts growing deeper, and more insistent, as he chased the intense feeling coursing through him.
The way your body clenched around his length, the soft gasps falling from your lips.
With your moans of approval, he seized the opportunity to go even deeper and quicken the pace in your wet welcoming heat. He pulled in your mouth for intoxicating searing kisses he couldn’t get enough of.
“I miss you,” You whimpered out the truth between the kisses. “S-so much.”
He snapped forward with new determination accentuated by the lewd sounds of your skin slapping against each other.
He let go of your mouth to focus on your chest. "I'm right here baby." He mumbled over your breasts as he cupped one in his large hands, brushing over your nipples before reaching down to lick.
He alternates between wet kisses and whirling his tongue, aimed to only give you pleasure. In his defence, he hasn't had the opportunity to do this in a while.
You grabbed a side of his face to look into his lustful eyes. “I really did love you.” You breathed out.
“I love you too.” He replied, too entranced by the moment to catch that single word in your sentence.
You crashed your lips against his. The technique of his kissing made you moan loudly into his mouth, and then against his jaw with your eyes shut when he was hitting the perfect spot over and over.
Your body was tensing up tighter and tighter as the pressure of the inside you. You could feel yourself teetering on the edge, ready to shatter into a million pieces at any moment.
“I’m close,” San panted. “Come for me. Come first.”
As a result of his husky words, your walls clench around him, and your climax comes crashing in. One passionate thrust as he buried himself inside your convulsing sex, the intense orgasm shook your entire body violently.
While your final convulsions faded, you slumped against the couch, panting heavily. Meanwhile, San rode off your enjoyment only to abruptly slip out of you before blowing a load inside you without a condom on.
He released himself from your legs that were wrapped around him and hurried to your nearby bathroom, his hard-on in his hands.
You lay there in a daze, trying to make sense of everything, feeling a mix of confusion and shame. You covered your face with your hands, desperate to hide from the reality of the situation.
Slowly, you pulled yourself up from the leather couch to sit up, its surface sticking a little to your sweaty skin, before you reached for your underwear lying forgotten at your feet.
You managed to get most of your clothes back on when he returned. The sight of him—his broad athletic build and that confident stride—distracted you just long enough for him to lean down and kiss you, his hands gently resting on the side of your neck.
You instinctively covered his hand with your own, locking eyes with him.
“Are you okay?” His voice was soft.
You stayed quiet for a moment, the weight of his question sinking in.
He kissed you again, his lips warm and insistent, and for a moment, the thoughts swirling in your head began to fade.
Before you knew it, he lowered himself down onto the floor across from you, wanting to pull you on top of him to straddle him.
“Stop. No more.” you murmured, pushing him away gently.
Your heart pounding as your knees pressed against the hardwood floors when you realised you were already sitting on his thighs.
San sharply sighed, a little disappointed, but he didn’t fight it. He let go of his grip on your waist, and you slowly kicked yourself off him.
The two of you lay on the floor, side by side, your breaths finally slowing after whatever that was. The silence between you wasn’t comforting in the slightest.
He reached for his underwear with his feet, slipping it on slowly, his eyes never leaving you. He was trying to read you, trying to understand what was going on.
You turned your head to look at him. His eyes turned to the ceiling, his expression unreadable, distant even though he was right there.
“San,” you began softly, your voice breaking the stillness. “I think we—”
His phone buzzed, cutting through the tension, and he glanced at it with another sigh. You felt the moment slip away as he got up and fumbled for his phone left in his pants by the couch.
“It’s Mingi,” he muttered.
“San,” you tried again, your tone heavier this time, begging for his attention. But he’d already answered the call.
You stayed on the floor, your chest tightening as fragments of their conversation reached your ears.
“Dude, what? I’m in the middle of… Huh? No, I haven’t heard from her,” San said, his tone sharp but tinged with concern. “She’s been dodging everyone since that night at Yeosang’s when you wouldn’t shut up about your conquests.”
Your frown deepened as you propped yourself up on your elbows to watch him. His brows furrowed, his full attention on the call like you weren’t even there.
“Well, maybe you should go check on her then,” San said, leaning back against the couch. “What, come over? Her place or yours?”
A pause, then his expression shifted—confusion, followed by clear exasperation.
San ran a hand through his messy hair. “Fine, whatever. I’ll come over later.” He hung up, tossing the phone onto the floor like it had personally wronged him.
“Mingi needs help with something,” he said it like that was enough explanation.
You stared at him, baffled and angry, “So you’re going?”
He turned to you, guilt flashing briefly in his eyes before he looked away. “I don’t have a choice,” he said quietly.
The words hit you like a slap, but what was worse than the sting was the inevitability that this was always how it would be. You, waiting for scraps of his time, his attention. Him, running off to play hero for everyone but you.
“San,” you said, your voice trembling. “You always have a choice. You just never choose me.”
“That’s not fair.”
“Isn’t it?” You shot back. “You couldn’t even let me finish breaking up with you before answering his call.”
“What? It’s not like that. This is serious to him—he really likes her—”
“Save it,” you cut him off, your voice sharp. “Since you’re always serious about everyone else, just go.”
He hesitated, his hand hovering near his phone. “You’re being—”
“Go,” you repeated firmly, tears welling in your eyes but your tone unwavering. “And don’t ever come back this time.”
For a moment, he looked like he wanted to defend himself, or to stay, but then he stood up. He pulled the rest of his clothes back on, grabbed his phone, and shoved it into his back pocket without a word.
He glanced at you on his way out, his gaze searching for something, anything, to make this easier. He convinced himself he’d call you tomorrow, that this wasn’t really goodbye like the other times you both have tried to end it. He didn’t realize how serious you were this time.
He walked past the shards and the broom and left. The door clicked shut behind him.
Hooray hooray, it's Wintersd- oh, not quite yet, but happy December, everyone! I hope those of you in colder regions have a nice warm spot to bundle up and get cozy for the holidays! Meanwhile, the first Saturday of a new month is this Saturday, which means it's time for another art party hosted by my guild, [VS] Verdant Shield!
I've said this in almost two dozen posts now, but there are always news eyes around, so a quick tl;dr: art parties are a concept carried over from Final Fantasy XIV - in-game get-togethers for artists of all kinds to hang out, chat, and create together! For GW2 parties there's more of an emphasis on hanging out and gathering references during the party itself, and then in the days/weeks following to work on your creations at your own pace and then post to the shared art party tag. We've used the same one (#VSArtParty) since the very beginning so you can go allll the way back and explore what people have made!
Even more tl;dr is this: the ‘goal’ of an art party isn’t to be drawn, but to draw others, and share with the community!
Time and /squadjoin information is below the cut, but will also be posted again on the day of the party as things begin!
Location Information:
No fighting this time, we're in a nice no-combat corner of Snowden Drifts (the Southwest corner, to be precise!). There is a nearby dredge event that we might catch some dialogue from from time to time, but because we're up on the main part of the building across the bridge from it, no enemies should ever come close - simply relax and get cozy! Podaga Steading Waypoint has the matching name of course, but Skradden Waypoint (by the map entrance from Gendarran Fields) is just as close!
Tumblr media
Time & Squad Details:
As is customary, we'll be having two parties - the first one on EU servers and the second on NA - with an hour break in between for those who may want to attend both!
The EU server party will begin at 9pm Central European Time (aka 3pm Eastern Standard Time or 4 hours before in-game reset). I'll be hosting this one on my EU alt account, so please either /whisper or /squadjoin Stormcaller Nell for a taxi invite if you don't end up on the right map!
The NA server party will begin 1 hour after the EU party's official end, at 7pm Eastern Standard Time (aka 1am Central European Time or at in-game reset). I'll be on my main account for this one and may switch 'host' characters a few times, but please /whisper or /squadjoin Freja Owlsong for a taxi invite if you don't see my customary white cat tag hanging around on your map!
Closing Words:
Feel free to consider this a Wintersday-themed party if you like! Because Anet likes to start their festivals midway through the month and I like to do the art parties at the start, it often means if I want to have a party during a festival it ends up awkwardly late, like Halloween in November..... but regardless! We just celebrate a bit earlier than the game does! Anyway!
Thank you everyone who comes out to these events and makes them so fun and memorable - there wouldn't be an art party without all of you! Take care of yourselves, keep yourselves warm, and I'll see you all this Saturday! ♥♥♥
I Wouldn't Be Who I Am
Togata Mirio x reader (established relationship) - 2k words
Mirio seems perfectly fine with the fact that he has lost his quirk, not to mention everything else that's happened. All you want is to support him, but like this, you aren't sure how.
(includes a single spoiler for the bnha epilogue toward the end)
Tagging @dira333 because she has become my fellow Mirio enjoyer.
Tumblr media
2 Days After
The nurse leads you down the hospital hallway. After what feels like an eternity, you're finally being allowed in to see Mirio. As the door swings open, you steel yourself. You can't imagine what he must be going through, between the losses of his quirk and of Sir Nighteye. You're prepared to grieve with him.
To your surprise, a beaming smile is on his face, even as you blink back the prickle of tears in your own eyes. His arms open, and in mere moments, you're across the room and launching yourself into them. He holds you tight, warm and solid and here. "I did it," He says, muffled into your neck, "I saved her."
"Yeah," You choke out as you pull back, tears welling in your eyes now. "You did it." You're looking at him with a watery smile, and he catches your face in his hands.
"Hey," He says more gently, swiping at a runaway tear with his thumb, "It's okay. I'm here." His eyes are still dry, and you feel silly for crying.
"I'm the one who should be comforting you," You protest with a weak laugh. He's always been an upbeat guy, contagiously cheerful, but you'd expected even him to break in a situation like this.
"I'm fine," He says, so matter-of-factly that you believe him. "I mean, of course saying goodbye to Sir was hard, but he wanted me to keep smiling. He believed in me, and in a better future for everyone. So I'm gonna help bring about the future that he envisioned." His smile is wide, warm, and as genuine as ever. The kind of smile you never could resist returning. It doesn't last long on your face, however.
"But, your quirk," You add, not sure how to bring it up more delicately. You don't understand how this isn't devastating to him. He's worked so hard to master his quirk and trained relentlessly to hone it, and now everything he's worked towards is gone.
"Yeah, but didn't you hear? As soon as Eri masters her quirk, she'll be able to give mine back. It's not like it's forever. This doesn't change anything." You bite your lip before you say anything, but you don't agree. To you, it almost seems like this changes everything. His overwhelming confidence is one of many things you love about him, but you can't help wondering at what point it becomes a crutch.
3 Weeks After
"Eri!" Mirio says brightly to the small girl half-hidden behind his leg, "I want you to meet someone really special." He gestures at you, and you smile, crouching down to her level.
"Hi, Eri," You say, introducing yourself. She's a sweet girl, you have to admit. She's here to spend the day at the festival, and when you aren't helping your class with their part in the festivities, you're looking forward to spending some time with her and Mirio.
"It's nice to meet you," She says shyly. "Lemillion said you're very nice and pretty." You glance up at your boyfriend with a quirked eyebrow, and he just shrugs and winks at you.
"Well, I didn't lie to you, did I, Eri?" Her brow crinkles for a few moments, puzzled, but then she slowly shakes her head no.
"Mirio," You scold him softly, giving his hand a squeeze. It hasn't been the same, not seeing him in school every day. His absence is a constant reminder that things are different now. Even today, he's here as Eri's escort, not a student.
If it affects him, being here while not being a part of it, he doesn't let it show. It must be for Eri's sake, you think. You know how deeply he feels about her, and how much she looks up to him and Midoriya. He spends the entire day with a smile on his face, laughing and joking and jovial as always. It should reassure you, but instead you feel as though you have to ache for him.
Even after Aizawa-sensei picks up Eri to take her back to the hospital, his mood doesn't falter. He reaches for your hand, tugging you close as he prepares to walk you back to your dorm. Above, stars are twinkling out one by one, and he's chattering away in your ear. "--And your class's performance was so great! I think Eri really loved it."
It's been building up all day, and you can't hold it in any longer. "How are you so happy all the time?" You blurt out.
"What?" He blinks at you, coming to a stop.
"I just-" Tears are welling in your eyes, and it's so stupid. "You lost your quirk, Mirio. Everything you've been working so hard for, and it's just gone! And Sir Nighteye - I know how much you admired him, how much he meant to you. And yet I haven't even heard you say a word about him." You swipe roughly at the tears that are starting to stream down your face, and Mirio chases after a few with the backs of his fingers.
The expression on his face is dead serious now. "Where is this coming from?" He asks levelly.
"I - I don't know," You wave your hands helplessly. "I just - I don't want you to bottle it all up inside and pretend it's all okay. I want you to - to feel everything you've lost. Because it's okay to do that." You pause your rambling long enough to sniffle grossly through your tears. "I was prepared to grieve with you," You finally say quietly, "But I guess I wasn't prepared for this."
To your surprise, he draws you into his arms rather than saying anything, holding you tight against him. Your arms slide around his middle, and you're both silent. After a few moments, you feel his shoulders begin to shake.
"I'm sorry," He squeezes out.
"Don't apologize," You say thickly, finally pulling back to see the tears streaming down his face. "I - I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything." You cup his face in your hands, brushing away as many tears as you can with your thumbs. "I wasn't trying to make you cry," You force out a wet laugh.
"I know." He shakes his head. "I think about him every day," He says hoarsely, "Sir. If anything I could have done would have changed things. I know he'd tell me not to, but I can't help it." He shrugs, and you catch another tear with your fingers. "I wake up in the morning, all ready to get some training in, and I remember. You'd think I'd be used to it by now, but it always hits me like a ton of bricks."
You nod silently, sliding your hands down his arms and wrapping them around his fingeres. "And I keep smiling anyway, because Sir told me to. Because Eri needs me to. Because I don't want to burden you or anyone else with my pain."
"Your pain is not a burden," You say quickly. "I want to share it with you. Make it less, if I can. Or just hold you, if it will help." You give his hands a squeeze. "I don't want you to feel like you have to go through this alone."
"Thank you." He says more quietly, leaning in to rest his forehead against yours for a moment before pulling back again. "I love you. And, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you feel this way." He brings your clasped hands to his lips and presses a soft kiss to your knuckles. "But you know, I also keep smiling because it's who I am. I'm Lemillion. I smile. I like smiling." He huffs out a laugh and wipes away the last of his tears with his shoulder.
"I know," You say, managing a smile of your own. "And that's one of the many things I love about you."
3 Months After
There's a knock at your dorm door, and you put down your pen. "I'll be there in a minute!" You call, shuffling your papers into a neater stack before getting up.
"It's me," Mirio calls from the other side, "I've gotta go soon, but can I come in for a sec?"
"Sure, hold on!" You push your chair in, stretching your arms above your head to work out the kinks in your back. You've probably been sitting down a little too long anyway.
Before you even make it to the door, Mirio's face appears through it. Your hands fly to your face to stifle your startled shriek, then you shriek again when you realize exactly what's happening.
"Hey!" He grins, "Can ya actually let me in? I'm not wearing my suit, and I think I'd better keep my clothes on." Your hands are shaking as you fumble with the doorknob.
"Your quirk!" You say after you get the door open and he sweeps you up in his arms. "Eri? She did it?" You ask breathlessly. It's not that you'd ever doubted her, but somehow this moment had always felt so far away.
"Yup!" He's holding your hands, and all it takes is a tug to pull you into a kiss.
"I'm so happy," You breathe as he pulls away smile mirroring his.
"Me too," He laughs. "I just had to stop by." He pauses. "To say thank you."
"For what?" You shake your head, still trying to convince yourself that this is real.
"Cause you were with me. You helped me get here."
You shove his shoulder. "Stop it! I didn't have anything to do with this." You don't deserve any of the credit for the incredible resilience he's shown all these months, or for the miracle of Eri's quirk.
"You helped," He says firmly, "I only smiled as much as I did because you were there when I couldn't any more. You hurt with me when I needed it, and now I hope you'll keep on smiling with me." He presses one last kiss to your lips before pulling backwards. "And I really really do have to go. I just wanted you to know." He throws his hand up in a wave, "Bye! I love you!" And just like that, he's darting away.
"I love you too!" You shout after him, hoping he's not too far away to hear you. You keep smiling even long after he's out of sight.
8 Years After
You've always known this was inevitable. For as long as you've known Mirio, you didn't have to be Sir Nighteye to know that this was in his future. Still, when you get the news that it's finally official, you feel the tears come, even as you're dancing around alone in your kitchen.
The moment he gets through the door, you throw yourself at him. "Welcome home, number one," You say cheekily, wrapping your arms around his neck and pressing a long kiss to his lips before he can even respond.
"Oh?" He pulls back with a hum, "If I knew this was the kind of treatment I'd get as the number one hero, I would've gotten there a long time ago." He hefts you up in his arms and you let out a surprised squeak as he spins you around, laughing gleefully.
"I knew you would do it," You say after he finally sets you down, a little dizzy and still breathless from your laughter. "So did Sir Nighteye," You add more quietly.
"Yeah," he says softly, expression sobering. He absently rubs circles into your hips, silent for a few moments. "I think it's a big part of the reason I got here," He finally speaks up. "Losing my quirk. Sir taught me how important it is to smile, but I think I also needed to learn that it's okay not to, sometimes."
"So thank you," He goes on, smile breaking across his face again, "For letting me not smile." He pulls you into a more tender kiss. "But also for smiling with me, all these years." He adds against your lips, letting you feel your favorite smile pressed against your own.
———
The Azari squires had been in the library for hours now, studying hard for their final examinations. As the sun’s light returned to its place past the frost covered mountains, the squires left, some on their own, most in pairs. Soon, the library was empty save for two squires, still studying hard.
When the room was completely dark, and the runelights flickered on, one of the squires leaned over the table and poked his companion’s arm.
“Hey, hey Kaids,” he whispered.
She ignored him, simply turning the page of her book, which was now slightly more illuminated by his glimmering butterfly wings.
“Kaiiiiiiii,” he tried again.
No answer. Kaiden scratched her nose.
“KaiKaiKaiKai—“
“Shush, Felix, I’m reading.” she interjected, still focused on her book.
“She finally speaks!” Felix chuckled. “I got something for you!”
Kaiden finally looked up from her book, giving Felix a deadpan stare. “What?”
He disappeared under the table for a moment, then popped back up and plopped a small rectangular box onto Kaiden’s book. “Ta da!”
“You did this…” she took the present, running her fingers along the sloppy wrapping, and the lopsided bow, and the chicken scratch that passed as Felix’s handwriting that spelled out her name.
“…for me? You did this for me?” she repeated, turning the parcel in her hands.
“Yeah! Open it?”
“Mmm.” Kaiden pushed her books to the side, then started carefully unwrapping the present. A small pile of green and red paper formed near her as Felix looked on, bouncing up and down in his seat. After the wrapping was the box, and nestled inside it was a small jewelry chain. Its cool metal felt like ice in her hand.
“So? What do you think?”
Kaiden looked up at her friend, and when her eyes met Felix’s she felt … good. Happy, even. Content? Either way, she felt right.
“I love it,” she replied, giving one of her rare smiles. “Thank you, Felix.”
“You’re welcome~ also—” he got up and collected all the books with a wave of the hand, “—would you like to head back yet? It’s pretty late, and I’d like to see if we can get seconds at the cafeteria before everyone else.”
“Yeah, we should get back. Lead the way.”
Dove: A Zombie Ghost Story (Chapter Seven)
Summary: He didn’t want to let his little dove go. He wanted to hold her close, feel her warmth and smell her sweetness. He wanted her softness and light for himself. She made the days of his cursed existence so much easier to bear. She gave him purpose, she gave him happiness with every bright smile and light touch. She was giving him his humanity back—he could feel it, his emotions less dulled each day, his mind clearer. He didn't know how to let her go, and return back to the way things used to be. He didn't know if he could. Word Count: 3426 Warnings: still no smut (but Ghost has explicit thoughts again), mentioned past child abuse, mentioned animal death (a zombie's gotta eat), Johnny continues to haunt the narrative (I almost feel like he should get his own character tag at this point, he talks so goddamn much in Ghost's head) Notes: Triple asterisk (***) denotes a POV change as usual, dash asterisk dash (-*-) is a time skip but not a POV change. I still have no beta for this fic so all SPAG and consistency errors are my own, feel free to point them out. AO3, Masterlist
After emptying the remains of the water cooler into a bottle found in the kitchen, Ghost and his dove resumed their methodical search of the town for supplies.
It was a small town, though larger than a village. Ghost knew they wouldn't have the time to search each and every house—right now, he was guiding Lelia to any spots that looked like they might have the essentials. More water, mostly, but also a map of their surroundings. He wanted to find somewhere that his dove could safely nest for the winter, and a town wasn't it. Other survivors would undoubtedly come through looking for supplies of their own—and with only being a day's drive at most from the military base she’d escaped from, Ghost knew those survivors likely wouldn't be friendly.
It did make him wonder, though. What would happen if they did come across a group of good people who were willing to take Lelia in? There was no way he would be welcome to join as well, he knew. He would probably be killed on the spot, unwilling to fight back and risk her getting caught in the crossfire.
He knew what he should do, if they ran into other people: Watch them for a few days, get a sense of if they were the right sort. If they were, lead Lelia to them, and disappear so they could find her. Trail them afterwards to make sure she was accepted, safe, and happy… and then let her go. Let her be with other humans, where she belonged, and not stuck with a monster like him.
He knew that was what he should do. He just didn't think he had the strength to.
He didn’t want to let his little dove go. He wanted to hold her close, feel her warmth and smell her sweetness. He wanted her softness and light for himself. She made the days of his cursed existence so much easier to bear. She gave him purpose, she gave him happiness with every bright smile and light touch. She was giving him his humanity back—he could feel it, his emotions less dulled each day, his mind clearer. He didn't know how to let her go, and return back to the way things used to be. He didn't know if he could.
So, telling himself that it was what was safest for her and only lying a little bit, he prepared her for a journey to somewhere more isolated.
They didn’t find a map that day or the next—no one kept printed maps or even atlases anymore, it seemed, far too reliant on technology—but they did find a long, designer puffer coat that Lelia squealed over happily, as well as a few cases of water bottles. Ghost, who had been loaded up like a pack mule, was relieved to discover a little red wagon in the garage of the house they holed up in on the third night. His dove was so chronically malnutritioned that she couldn't even carry the pack of canned food without needing to stop and rest every half hour—but he couldn’t afford to be bogged down by supplies incase of an attack. The wagon was the perfect solution—he’d drag it along behind him and could easily drop the handle and move to protect Lelia if need be.
Around four days since he’d last eaten, Ghost found himself sniffing her far more than he was comfortable with. So he kept his distance until nighttime, and then repeated his pantomime show of telling her to lock her door and barricade herself inside the room with her supplies. She understood what was happening this time and obeyed without protest, simply telling him to be safe.
When he came back an hour later, she was ready with the dusty toothbrush and tube of toothpaste they’d taken from the house with the water cooler. She even used some water from one of the bottles they’d found—despite his protests—to gently clean his face and hands. It was the most she’d touched him since the last time she’d scrubbed his teeth—though not the first time since. She tended to walk closer to him now, enough that their hands brushed every so often. He’d stopped wearing his gloves entirely, just to be able to feel it a little better. Sometimes she grabbed onto his arm, too, when she saw something that scared her—which was often—or something that she was excited about—which was rare. It was nice. It was better than nice. It was wonderful. Every second of physical contact with her was heaven. It had been hard, keeping her at arm’s length today, but necessary. And now he would make up for it by letting her clean him, which was arguably even better, if a little embarrassing. But he would embarrass himself a thousand times over if it meant he got to feel her touch.
“There’s blood under your mask,” his dove said suddenly, her fingers slipping under the bottom edge of it. He tensed, reaching up to lightly grab her wrist, stopping her from taking it off. He looked horrifying enough with the mask on—if she saw what was beneath it, he knew he would take over staring in her nightmares from whoever Andrew—and God did he want to rip that fucker apart every time her heard her beg him for mercy in her sleep—was.
“Still won’t let me clean under it?” His dove asked, pouting. He just stared back at her, unable to be swayed, not on this. She sighed, but let it go. “Fine. But you have to clean it, then, because the blood starts to smell if you leave it there.”
He grumbled, but accepted the rag from her, releasing her wrist so she could turn around. He removed his cracked mask, looking in the mirror—trying not to flinch at the disgusting sight that greeted him—and carefully, clumsily cleaned up the little bit of rabbit blood that had snuck up towards his nose. He was lucky he still had a nose, he reminded himself.
Once he was finished and his mask firmly back on, he groaned quietly, and his dove faced him again with a smile, toothbrush at the ready.
Five minutes later—he was disappointed it didn't take as long this time, but he supposed that meant the first cleaning had worked—he was spitting toothpaste into the dirty sink, mouth tasting aggressively of mint.
“What did you eat tonight?”
Ghost looked back at Lelia, surprised by the question. Why was she asking? Was she worried he’d eaten a human?
“I had a can of peaches,” she continued, wiping her hands off on one of the dusty towels hanging on the back of the door. “I’d been trying to save that one for a special occasion, but I couldn't resist anymore. I miss sweets.”
His confusion—and slight hurt—faded when he realized she was just doing what she always did: filling the silence with chatter. It was one of the things he appreciated the most about her, after so long with only the groans of the other undead and his own thoughts for company. Although sometimes, he half expected her rambling to be thick with an indecipherable Scottish accent.
Ghost tried to make a bunny rabbit with his fingers, but his dove stared at him blankly. He huffed and then held up two fingers behind her head so she could see them in the mirror. Bunny ears.
“You ate a bunny?!” She exclaimed, horrified. “But— but they’re so cute!”
Ghost just looked at her, shrugging his stiff shoulders. It was the first thing he’d found, and he’d been trying to get back to Lelia as quickly as possible. Cuteness wasn’t a factor he took into consideration when it came to what he ate. Though if it was, it would explain why she was so tempting to him.
“Aye, tha’s a good’un,” Johnny’s voice said in his head. “Yer cute too, an’ I’d still eat ye. Eat yer sweet li’l cunny—”
He immediately shut that thought down. He wondered if the real Johnny was as much of a pervert as the one in his head, or if it was all just Ghost.
“Did you at least make sure it didn't suffer?”
Ghost focused on his dove again, and was alarmed to see that her big brown eyes were wet and wide, her bottom lip trembling. He groaned, his own eyes widening—as much as they could, at least—and he instinctively reached out to try and comfort her. But he stopped short of actually touching her, his hands hovering awkwardly over her shoulders. She was still looking up at him with that wounded expression, and he would have done just about anything to make it go away, so he nodded quickly. The rabbit had barely had time to register what was happening before he’d snapped its neck. At the time, he hadn’t done it out of mercy, but simple practicality—his meal couldn't run away if it was dead—but he couldn't have told his dove that even if he’d wanted to. Which he very much did not.
“Good,” Lelia said, relieved. She still looked sad, but not as much like she was about to burst into tears, now. Ghost let his hands fall back to his sides. “That’s good... I’m sorry. I know you need to eat, I don’t mean to make you feel guilty for that, I just… my first ever pet—my first ever friend, truly—was a little mummy bunny. She lived in the garden on our estate—that was my favorite place to play—and I found her after Father had refused to get me a pet for the dozenth time. I must have made him quite cross, since he struck me right across the face, rather than give me a spanking like usual. It was certainly more effective, though. I didn’t dare ask again. Which is why I was so pleased to find my little Serafina—that’s what I named her—that I helped her raise her babies until they were big enough to go out on their own. I’d bring them food and nesting materials, and I sat guard over them all day, everyday to make sure no foxes came to eat them. It was bittersweet, when I found the nest empty. I was happy they had all made it to adulthood, but I was so sad to see them go…”
The look in her eyes was distant, though not quite as much as it had been when they’d found the leather jacket. It had scared him, that day, just seeing her go suddenly unresponsive as tears began to stream down her face. There were no tears this time, for which he was glad, but his undead heart still ached a bit at her words. Clearly, despite growing up in the lap of luxury, she had been a lonely child, with parents not fit to raise a sensitive little dove like her.
Ghost groaned quietly and lightly bumped his hand against hers, the way she sometimes did when they were walking, trying to ground her the only way he could. He wanted to pull her into a hug, to feel her soft, warm body against his, but he knew that would be crossing a line.
The bit of contact seemed to do the trick, though, her gaze focusing on him again as she smiled once more.
It didn't quite reach her eyes.
***
It was approaching three weeks since Lelia's escape from Andrew, and a little under two since she and Simon had arrived in the abandoned town, when they finally located a map.
It was in the house Ghost had chosen for them to stay in that night. There was a study, nearly untouched, and Lelia had taken the opportunity to explore the packed bookshelves. She missed her own collection very much—she hadn’t been allowed to bring it with her, once she’d gotten married. The only book she’d been able to sneak away was the hand-bound collection of Russian poetry her governess, Ulyana, had given her years ago. The stern old woman was the only person Lelia had confessed her love of poetry to. Ulyana had scoffed and called her a fool girl, but that was just how she was, so she didn’t take it too personally. Especially when she found the book on her nightstand a few days later.
Lelia still had it, kept tucked carefully in her pocket at all times. It had become a notebook, of sorts, where she wrote all her own poems, as well as copied down some of her favorite English ones. But it was more than that. It was the only evidence she had that someone had ever truly cared about her.
Ulyana hadn’t loved her, Lelia knew that. She would have rather been with her own family, raising her own children back in Russia. Lelia didn't understand that when she was little, but she did now. Even still, Ulyana had been more of a mother to her than Lelia’s own.
Lelia shook herself from her thoughts, peeking up from her new copy of Pride & Prejudice to look at Simon. He was standing at the desk, the map spread out in front of him, growling quietly to himself. She was familiar enough with his array of noises by now to know that he was frustrated.
“Is everything okay?” She asked softly. Simon’s head jerked up, jaw wobbling, and then his gaze darted away, his shoulders hunching slightly. Her brows furrowed in concern, and she stood up from the cozy office chair she’d curled up in, setting aside her book and crossing over to him. She laid a hand on his forearm, trying to get him to look at her again. “What’s wrong?”
To her surprise, Simon pulled away. He never pulled away from her touch—seemed to crave it, in fact, if the way his eyes slipped closed and he got all relaxed whenever she brushed his teeth was any indication—and she figured it was because he was relieved he wasn’t alone anymore. She didn’t know how long he’d been a conscious zombie, but any time spent as one had to have been hell. So when she’d noticed the way he always leaned into her hands when she cleaned him, she’d made a conscious effort to initiate more contact between them. Nothing too big—just a brush of their hands here or grabbing his arm to get his attention there—but little gestures that she hoped reminded him that he wasn’t alone anymore.
So the fact that he was denying himself the comfort he so clearly got from it? She knew something must really be bothering him.
“Simon,” she said, quiet but firm. “Talk to me.”
Simon looked back at her sharply, growling as he gestured at his broken jaw. She crossed her arms over her chest and raised a brow at him. He knew what she’d meant. They’d gotten quite adept at communicating without speaking, over the last few weeks.
Her zombie glared at her for a moment longer before grumbling in defeat and shoving the map away from him, wordlessly naming it as the problem. She frowned, bringing it back towards them and smoothing it out as she began to guess at the specifics.
“Is the map of the wrong area?” She asked. Simon shook his head. She tried again.
“Is it outdated?” Another head shake.
“Are you having trouble reading it?”
A long pause, and then Simon nodded, avoiding looking at her. It took a moment for her to recognize the emotion in his lowered gaze, the tightness around his eyes and the hunch of his shoulders. Shame.
“I have a hard time reading maps too,” she said, quick to reassure him, hating that he was feeling down about himself. He’d done so much for her—he was the reason she was alive. She was beyond grateful for him. “Even Google maps. I always ended up lost when I tried to use it.”
Her words seemed to have the opposite of their intended effect, though, as he just grew more agitated, stomping away from the desk and lashing out. He punched one of the bookshelves with a terrifying growl, cracking the wood and sending several flying to the ground. Lelia let out an alarmed noise, flinching violently as she instinctively stepped back and raised her arms to protect her head. Andrew had stopped caring about not hitting her face not long after the world ended. There was no need to keep up appearances anymore, after all.
But no angry blows came her way, and after a moment, she looked up to find Simon sitting on the ground, staring at an open book, jaw quivering where it hung as he tried and failed to speak the words in front of him, the only sounds escaping him being choked off gurgles. Slowly, hesitantly, Lelia approached. As she drew closer, she noticed the minute trembling of his shoulders, and the tremor in his hands as his fingers traced the letters of the first word on the page, over and over again. Lelia realized two things in that moment.
Simon wasn’t having trouble reading the map. He couldn’t read the map. He couldn’t read.
And, much more importantly to her, he was crying.
His cloudy eyes were bone dry, but the noises he made and the way he shook was hauntingly familiar. Lelia’s heart broke, and she lowered herself down beside him before wrapping her arms around him.
“It’s okay,” she whispered, hugging him tightly. He dropped the book and turned towards her, his own large arms encircling her waist as he buried his face in her neck. Perhaps she should have been afraid. He was a zombie, and although he’d not eaten her yet, he’d admitted to thinking about it when he got hungry—and he hadn’t hunted in a few days, now. Yet she pulled him close, perfectly poised to take a chunk out her neck and feast on her flesh as she bled out. But Simon was crying, and what kind of friend would she be if she didn’t try to comfort him, after everything he’d done for her?
Lelia wasn’t sure how long she held Simon, petting his hair soothingly as he fell apart in her arms. Long enough that her body grew stiff, her bum aching from sitting on the hardwood floor. Long enough that the sun had set entirely, leaving the room in total darkness. Long enough that drool had gathered in her zombie’s mouth and dribbled out, wetting her skin and the collar of her shirt. A little even dripped inside, down her chest.
She didn’t care about any of that. All that mattered to her was being there for Simon when he needed her, like he was always there for her.
Finally, Simon sniffed deeply and then quickly pulled away, letting go of her and moving back, putting space between them. She let him, but only because she recognized the sniff as a sign that she was starting to look a little too tasty to him. He, on the other hand, looked embarrassed, and he actually groaned and buried his face in his hands when he noticed the dark splotch on her shirt. It was an entirely human gesture, and she felt her heart squeeze in her chest. Not for the first time, she found herself wondering what Simon had looked like before, back when he was alive…
“I know you need to go find something to eat,” she spoke, shaking the thought from her mind.  “So we’ll figure out the map in the morning, alright? Between the two of us, we should be able to find a way to make sense of it.”
She smiled at him when he looked up at her, and had to resist the urge to hug him again. He still looked so unsure, like a little boy afraid of being rejected—it was a jarring expression on him. Simon always knew what to do, and was always so confident about it, too. She’d seen him scare off dozens of zombies and rip apart just as many without blinking an eye. And yet here and now, in front of no one but her, he was scared. He was vulnerable.
She felt honored that he was showing that part of him to her.
“Goodnight, Simon,” she said quietly, standing up and brushing her fingers against his shoulder as she passed him, unable to help herself. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
And then she was gone, leaving the study and disappearing into the room she’d chosen for the night.
“You must indulge me and carry a weapon with you. You are my wife now. That implies risk in these circumstances”.
The Princess couldn’t help herself, she blurted out a laugh as she playfully —yet cruelly— added “Are you having delusions of power again, dear husband? We are not the ones responsible for the royal lineage, remember?”.
Aemond snapped his tongue in annoyance, forgetting everything he was taught on the matter of manners and polite diplomacy. It was always the same with her, the constant bickering, her vain mockeries. He was sure it was some kind of delusional defense against the act of political marriage, because he had seen her be nothing but sweet towards Heleana and his niece. Despite knowing that fact, he still felt that their differences and her inclinations towards confrontation constituted an act of personal defiance.
On the other hand, his wife was tired of his constant oscillation between coldness and strange tenderness, he had been cruel to her about their lineage, and now was he seeking to protect it?
Whatever spell had been cast upon them on that dreadful night, whichever feelings were discovered, however warm their touch had felt to one another, it was now undoubtedly broken.
She knew that despite being feared and undermined, Prince Aemond was also passably seasoned in the art of war, and of civility at court. She did not consider these traits to be of great merit, as even a chimpanzee would be considered to be formal and of considerable intelligence if it stood directly beside The King.  The Princess was not entirely sure where his urgency was coming from, but, knowing of The Queen's Dowry’s great cunning expertise in Machiavellian machinations, she was not sure if she should be afraid.
She scoffed out loud without meaning to. His paranoia must be rubbing off. Aemond seemed offended, as he exclaimed with irritation “You of all people must know what happened. We ought to do what we can to protect ourselves against the enemies of the crown“.
While it was true that the white cloaks wasted the entirety of their time drunk on wine and whores, the truth was that she felt safe with her husband. She would have never said it out loud, of course. Much less to Aemond himself. But she simply could not deny that he was fairly capable with the sword, childishly paranoid and positively ruthless. The Princess really felt no need to arm herself like a scared lamb. And she told him so. “Such displays are in bad taste”.
This was his time to mock her with a snort.
“Being precautionary is in bad taste now?, I had not yet been enlightened with that information” The Princess frowned. She was still getting used to her husband biting back, instead of his usual annoyed and quiet nature.
“It merely functions as a cry of desperation, not to mention it announces a lack of control within the own walls of your home”
The Prince, clearly tired of the back and forward, tiredly stated “Well, let it be small then. Conceal it if you wish, but we must start being careful”.
She felt a pinch of guilt. On some days —such as this one—, she wondered why she always had to put her worst face forward with him. She naturally had her reasons, but most of the time, when he was not ignoring her, she could tell he was making an effort to be cordial.
“Why are you so suddenly preoccupied with my well-being?” The change of tone in his wife's voice confused him. The serious ring to it was suddenly replaced with a playfully lighthearted one. Noticing his discomfort, The Princess tries a new strategy, while exaggerating her inflections slightly, she dramatically sits on the arm of the chair in which her husband rested and grabbed his cup. “Oh! Husband. You must stop drinking that tea immediately” It was wine “If I knew you loved me that much I would’ve never poisoned it” Evidently charmed by her own ingenuity, The Princess laughs at her own joke as he rolls his eyes with a small smile on his lips.
He took the opportunity which her proximity granted him to look at her. On a good mood, with that smooth and resolved attitude of hers, and the smile, and the way her hair ran through her slightly exposed shoulders… He stopped his sequence of thoughts before it was too late, and he lost all ability to do so.
His strong features recovered their sobriety soon enough though, as he whispered to her “Heleana and Jaehaera will suffer greatly if something were to happen to you”
The Princess, unable to control her body's reactions, rapidly felt her face feverishly enraged with embarrassment. Not knowing what to answer, she simply instinctively began to fidget with the baroque embroidery of her dress's sleeves. It was certainly true that she has not been any careful about her new-found relationship with the queen. She knows that if he ever uses it against her, there is no one to blame but herself for it.
She gazed at her husband. He was strikingly handsome, especially under the dim lights which always seemed to highlight his cheekbones, especially when his silver hair reflected the moonlight of the marital chamber, especially when he was being kind. The Princess sighed.
“If you are so bent upon the matter, I suppose I ought to comply. But it must be discrete”.
A wide grin appeared on his face; Cunning, triunfant. He carefully put his wine cup on an improvised protective cover her wife had made In an effort to stop hearing his winning about dust and marks on the table. She smiled.
Prince Aemond got up, ceremoniously bowed towards her, and buttoned his garment before making his way to the door. Before he left, he slowly turned around to see her one more time, just once. He gazed at her and proudly stated “I promise. As small as the pen you write your stories with, dear wife.”
Dear Gods. He could be such an annoying bastard.
Ayo! Finished this damn thing. Hope this is still good. Tell me who we should go find next <333
Tagging some people that have been waiting for this update: @danart501 @ilikemytittieswithwarmmilk
Summary: As a perpetual, you have been by the Emperor's side for most of your immortality. There's no name for what strange dynamic you both share, but you do trust him and your loyalty eventually pays off over millennia once he fulfills an old promise he made during your first ever encounter.
Pairing: Emperor of Mankind x Perpetual!Reader (Female)
CW: None
Part 1 - Part 2 - ?
Tumblr media
The Mother (2)
The pregnancy had been a success and the development was nothing short of fast and strenuous. You should have expected Him to mold your body in a manner that would serve Him better for his wishes and plans to be fulfilled.
His Great Crusade needed to be accomplished and you suddenly became part of the means to that end.
What a dreadful fate. To be nothing but his petri dish.
And so, Horus was born. His little form being held against your chest like the precious treasure that he was, making the sorrow of not having the rest of your children there too be momentarily forgotten by his awaited arrival, cooing and grunting in delight at the warmness of your encompassing heartbeat once he settled at your bosom.
A memory you cherished to the end of time while it had burned itself on your soul to leave a lasting mark. You had cried in joy, hunched over yourself to blanket your newborn with your whole begin and feel him real, psychical, between your arms.
His accelerated growth didn’t deter you enough from enjoying any time with your baby boy, from supporting him during his unforgiving training to reading with each other's company at the main library of the Imperial Palace. All for the sake of letting him be loved by you.
It was a matter that (while not ideal) didn't interest the Emperor much, for his plans were already taking proper form and the ‘gift’ of not taking away your son from you was enough of a blessing that didn’t need to be addressed again.
Even if that notion tasted like ash on your mouth.
Your little boy wasn’t so little anymore and that sometimes worried you, as you knew very well the kind of expectations the Emperor held for Horus; the true born Primarch, a warrior to serve under his Father’s light as a tool despite his own Mother’s unyielding love. You couldn’t help but feel like this was a prelude of some sort of omen.
Most of the days eventually became grey on its core, for your son was now in charge of his Legion, the Luna Wolves, marking his very first start as an official Primarch under the service of his Father… laying you to the sides like you have always been when regarding the Emperor.
Did Horus know how much it hurt his distance? How much it hurt to witness his crave for the approval of a man made god… when you simply wished to read a book of old literature in his company?
You hated being made again this tragic effigy of the woman with the eyes of a dying lamb. You felt forgotten… a ghost from these golden walls.
But the eventual call of Erda served to stray you away from such gloom thoughts. Her psyker powers a breach through your mind’s wall but clear enough for a single sentence to make your heart take a leap out close to your throat.
“I found one of them”
You couldn’t have been faster in your life to get a lunar cruiser ready to reach the needed destination; not even willingly to explain yourself when the Emperor saw you boarding the vessel. But as always, He went and proved to still be an enigma to you thanks to his ever unnatural actions.
“Go along with her… and make sure to protect her and obey her during the travel only” his command was absolute when he addressed four of his Custodes, their impassive disposition only showing the barest of emotion when fulfilling their Emperor’s orders like a gospel, but the specifics of his directive weren’t lost to you: to obey you just this single time. Nothing more, nothing less.
Of course, you weren't ungrateful to his gesture and thanked him deeply for it with a kiss to the palm of his armored hand when he caressed your cheek, but He quickly dismissed the matter. He knew what you were about to do and it wasn't like he Himself hadn’t been picking any possible clues to find the other Primarchs out there that you two wholeheartedly believed to still be alive.
Sometimes you wondered if the Emperor had managed to have a tiny, small part of instinctual fatherhood to be awakened within him after all the time he had spent with Horus. It was a nice thought. A hopeful one, but you knew better than to get your expectations up.
Once settled inside the cruiser, the coordinates were introduced to start the travel to retrieve one of your children.
Erda’s voice still echoing inside your mind when she told you the planet that you needed to search for: Nuceria.
-°-
The sight had been painful.
The worst nightmare a mother could ever expect.
Your arrival had been anything but discret at the revolting planet of Nuceria, having been informed of the life that the elites carried at the expense of the blood and flesh of slaves forced to fight for any resemblance of survival by their supposed masters. The irony wasn’t lost on you, but millenia of serving the Emperor had made you receptive to his ideals and methods. Justifying your own purpose by standing on his side could derive a vulnerability that you weren’t ready to confront. You needed to believe in the Emperor even if he took too far the phrase “Any means justify the end”.
After all, immortality has only made it easier for your troubling love to persevere longer in your stubborn heart and for fickle human lives to become an afterthought. You were well aware that you weren’t any better than Him in the ever present inhumanity you carried.
When your child had looked at your direction, imposing form towering over your smaller frame and covered in so many slashes and blood, your heart had seized in a painful knot. Those scars were injuries you hadn’t been able to sooth with compassion. You had failed your son and that was something you’ll never forgive yourself.
The only mercy you could offer was to take him away from this wretched place.
Just when you were ready to take a step towards him, you saw his eyes harden and his posture change in defense with squared up shoulders. A warning if you decided to go against him and the thorn inside your chest only bled even more.
The Custodes that had escorted you as per their orders maintained a cold and terrifying disposition, deterring any of the guards surrounding you and your son’s tribe to take a last step. The commotion at the fighting pit had been great but you cared little for these people and their sick sense of entertainment. Fighting was an art of the honorable and the strong; to be used in epic battles to build history and civilizations. Using it as a careless trick was insulting beyond belief.
It was beyond you to do this. Against any of the natural ingrained fighting instinct that had saved you for years, but the desperation of a mother overrode any of that to mere dust and motivated you to do the one thing you wished to believe will make your son realize who you were.
“I’ve been dreaming of finding you… for so long. I’m here now, my son”
And you saw it behind his hardened eyes, and you rejoiced in the recesses of your mind. There was a semblance of recognition shining through his stare at the timbre of your voice.
A far away lullaby that accompanied him in his lowest moments.
An step became two, then three and so on until you found yourself right at your child’s side after a few strides, hand gently touching his roughed one until the grip over his twin axe became slack, allowing you to take a better hold in an attempt to convey all the encapsulated emotions that stormed within your soul.
Grief, sadness, frustration, longing, relief… love.
You’ve been waiting for so long.
No one moved beyond you, tugging his huge arm towards you while softly telling him “It’s time to go home”, but those words instead of making him relax in your presence, had the opposite as his stance became once again defensive. At least this time he genuinely looked conflicted on the matter, glancing back at the other slaves that simply stayed behind as mere spectators of the whole encounter, unable to properly react when not just a few moments ago they were ready to lose their lives in the pits.
Ah, you understood.
“I can’t… not without my people…” he seemed to want add more into that sentence, his eyes straying just a little towards a man that looked to be quite tall by mortal standards, covered in too many scars that told stories of his battles in this wretched place but carrying himself with enough dignity to be respected.
This is where you must make a decision that will carry quite the weight. You knew that there was space enough to carry the slaves, not comfortably, but it could be arranged to be a thigh fit. You knew He wouldn’t even have hesitated at the idea of just forcibly taking your son and leaving all these humans to die with their fate already chosen. The Emperor had no time to dwell in the aspects of mercy and compassion, you could acknowledge that very well and that had been the main reason he had kept you long enough around. To remind him about the nostalgia of the humanity he once possessed. He couldn’t provide the proper love Horus and these children dreamed of… so you would carry that responsibility and dry your heart to make sure your precious sons knew they were loved no matter what.
Your loyalty will always belong to the Emperor, just as much as your body, soul and mind… but you didn’t belong to yourself too anymore… the pittance of individuality you were sure to hold crumbled into dust once you had wished to be the mother of these children and that was something you would proudly carry.
And so, your decision was made.
“Custodes!” you call them, their attention fully on you now and waiting for your command. The grasp over your son’s hand became tighter in an attempt to reassure him once you felt him go tense at your stern tone. He had probably expected the worst and that notion only made something bile twist inside your stomach. “We will be taking the slaves with us too”
There was a beat of uncertainty and you could already guess that this choice would not be well received by the Emperor… but that was something you were willingly to bear over your shoulders like many times you have done in the past.
Things will work out. You can only trust blind hope, but that is enough for now.
You stretch your arm towards his face with some effort, for he is still taller than you, but he lets his head tilt towards you to help a bit and gives you the chance to offer a sweet caress over his cheek. You can feel the rough texture of his messy shave, of the scars, and your heart throbs painfully when you think about all the hardships he had to face.
You couldn’t assure him a better life away from battle, but you could at least give him the solace of a greater future along for his people.
“I’m here now… and I will not abandon you… ever” there had been an edge of something feral in your tone. The side you rarely showed but a reminder of why you had been beside the Emperor this long.
You hoped Horus would be open at the idea of some siblings.
Desperation.
Pure desperation coursed through Ghost's veins with anxiety and eagerness - eagerness to kill Makarov's men that were hijacking the plane. He wanted to call Kiera's cell phone so bad - to hear her voice for what a final time could be. Time and time again, he was hesitant on if he should or not and focus on getting to her and how to handle the situation, but he knew he'd regret it if he didn't make the call to her to at least hear her voice, even if it was for the last time.
Pulling his phone from his pocket, his hands trembled as he tapped on Kiera's name, his heart breaking at the sight of the photo he chose of her as the contact photo, a brief image of it being a memorial photo if things didn't go to plan.
The phone rang four times before he heard white noise from the other side.
"Hello?" She whispered, her voice calm.
"Kiera, what's going on? Are you okay?"
"Simon, I-I can't talk long," She sighed. He knew she was refraining from a panic, but also knew that she and Laswell were compiling a plan.
And she wasn't going to go down without a fight.
"There's two armed men on this plane. Laswell is able to decipher what they're saying. Definitely Russian. She did quick work and found out that they have a hideout in Al Mazrah-"
"Al Mazrah?"
"Yes. We think that's where it's going. One pilot is out and the other is at gunpoint. They turned this plane around. I don't know what's going to happen. I suggested taking them out before they got to the cockpit, but that didn't go over well. They're not letting us get up or anything." She explained, a whimper threatening to leave her lips. She tried to stay calm for Simon's sake, but they both were in a panic.
For the first time, he felt tears welling up in his eyes. See what happens when you're selfish? The ones you love get taken from you.
He immediately blamed himself, knowing that none of this would've happened if he would've just pushed her away, but she made it so hard for him to stay away, easily letting himself get consumed within the embrace of love. Although he blamed himself, he never once regretted falling in love with her.
Simon didn't know what to say, nor could he find the words as he knew if he comforted her, he was afraid it was a lie to tell her everything would be okay when it couldn't be - he couldn't do that to her.
"Do you remember that AirTag I got you for your keys?" She asked, her voice in a low tone.
"Yeah?"
"Do you remember how to track it?"
"Yes."
"Just in case they take our phones, I'm going to get the tag from your bag and put it in my pocket so that you know where I end up...whether I be alive or...you know."
"Don't talk like that, love," He sighed, a harsh thud of his heart dropping at the gripping reality that plane hijacks never go well. "We're going to come and get you. Please don't try anything. Just," He huffed. "Just do as they say. If they turned the plane around and kept a pilot for their advantage, surely they'll make him land wherever they want."
"Laswell thinks they're going to Al Mazrah. She did her typical C.I.A research and was able to match the route."
"Then that's where we're going to go," He replied gruffly, Kiera hearing Simon call for Price to tell the pilot to get on a route towards Al Mazrah. "Where's Teeter?"
"In the row behind me. Everyone is quiet - one is standing at the tail and one is guarding the cockpit while the leader is in the cockpit with the pilot." She continued to explain.
"Love, listen to me: don't try to take this situation on your own. Just do as they say and we'll do the rest."
"I will-"
"Promise me."
"I promise, Simon."
"Все телефоны! Сейчас! (All phones! Now!)"
Simon's heart raced with rage when he heard the twisted Russian words from the other side of the line, wishing he and his team were there to handle the situation instead of the isolation he felt when he couldn't do anything about the it - feeling as if it were borderline torture to know that his connection with Kiera was about to be cut short, leaving him in a state of constant worry until they compiled their next plan.
"Keep tracking me, Simon. I have it on me. Your keys were in my purse." She began to babble, making the conversation quick.
"Don't worry, love," He assured her, his nervous tone matching hers. "I love you."
He heard her whimper, "I love you too."
Simon stared down at the screen as the lines were still connected, neither he nor Kiera wanting to be the one to hang up first as if it could be the last time they had a connection with each other.
»»-------¤-------««
Simon kept close tabs on Kiera's location, his leg shaking impatiently as well as thankful that the plane was still in the sky instead of scattered across the land. Soap kept close to Simon as worry consumed him as well, concerned for the wellbeing of Kiera, Laswell, and Teeter especially.
"What's the status?" Price asked, his tone too of worry.
"Still moving. Laswell is still solid as a rock. Looks like they're heading towards Syria."
"They're heading towards Al Mazrah. Gaz, see what airports you can find that're closeby."
"On it, Cap."
Price took notice of Simon's anxious shake of his leg and desperate breaths, knowing he wasn't in the mindset he needed to be in for a battle that was sure to happen now that Kiera was involved. He sighed, taking a seat next to Simon and pressing his palm against his shoulder, the muscle under Simon's uniform feeling like a rock. "May I?" He asked, opening his palm in reference to the cell phone held within Simon's tight grasp.
He was hesitant to give the phone to Price, not wanting to release the only grasp he had on Kiera's live location, afraid that it was the only thing he would have left of her. "I don't mean this in a crude way, but you need to get your head right, Simon. We have a big job to do coming up and I don't want you to get yourself in a bind-"
"I'm not," He grumbled, releasing his grip on his phone for Price to look at the screen. "I'm ready to get on the ground."
"We all are, but I know the thoughts going through your head. You're going to go in with rage. We have to think this through, Simon."
"Oh, I am," He hissed. "This is all on a new level now. I won't be able to live with myself if something happens to them."
"That it is, but if I may, let me keep track of this to give you time to compose yourself before we land," Price assured him, his advice seeming to go through one ear and out the other as Simon only had one thing in mind - getting to her. "How are you able to track her?"
"Because she thought of something I never would've thought of," He scoffed. "I bought one of those AirTags for my keys because I always misplace them. She took it and put it in her pocket just in case they seized their phones. They did just that, but they won't know about it."
Price chuckled, "Smart lass."
"Too smart for me." Simon shook his head.
"C.I.A shit," Gaz chuckled. "Pence said that the closest airstrip is two-hundred klicks out at the Syrian Air Base. They know we're coming and have men on standby with vehicles."
"Great," Price nodded, looking down at the phone screen to refresh Kiera's location. "They've stopped."
"Stopped?"
Price nodded, pinching at the screen to zoom in on the location, "Looks like an airport or base for commuter planes, not commercial."
"So they're on the ground?"
"Seems like it. Location is moving it seems."
Fuck, I need to get on the ground now, he thought impatiently, desperately trying to get focused for the task at hand.
»»-------¤-------««
A wave of silence fell throughout the armored vehicle, Ghost sitting in silence as he was now in full combat mode. Soap sat across from him, slowly loading ammunition into a magazine before wiping the excess residue of lead through his hair, beads of sweat lining his brow as the heat of the desert wasn't welcoming. Price, out of boredom, flicked his lighter, looking into the open flame as if he saw something, his gaze primal. Gaz sat in the same mood as Ghost, ready to fight as soon as his boots hit the ground.
"They know we're coming." Gaz finally said, breaking the silence.
"Is her location still showing the same?" Price asked Ghost.
He huffed, looking down at his phone to refresh the signal, grimacing as his reception was weak, a few moments passing by before it showed the same location as before. "Yes."
Price nodded, "This is a hostage situation. We'll mark a perimeter and go from there. We get eyes-on and regroup."
"Aye." Soap sighed, worried about the status of Teeter.
»»-------¤-------««
Ghost clutched his rifle as the morning sun seared over the desert, walking between a rock wall that led to a cliff side, seeing a makeshift base of two shipping containers, a helicopter, many trucks, a tank, and nearly two dozen men.
Tumblr media
"We have the missile on standby." One of the Marines spoke up that was sent with Ghost to assist in creating a perimeter.
"We're not using a missile until I know there's no civilians." Ghost scoffed.
"A few civilian casualties doesn't equal the amount of destruction these guys are going to cause, man-"
"Would you be saying that if one of those civilians was your pregnant fiancé?" Ghost scoffed, turning to glare at him from over his shoulder, seeing him look to the ground out of defeat as he couldn't utter a response. "Didn't think so."
He returned to look through the binoculars, watching the helicopter land before a group of men exited the aircraft.
Tumblr media
"Finding out new shit every bloody time." Ghost grumbled in response, wishing Kiera told him everything about every mission she had ever been on, but he didn't blame her - even though he had told her about his past, he purposely didn't give her every explicit detail in order to save himself from thinking about it, thinking that it would be better for her if she just didn't know everything for her sake.
Tumblr media
Urzikstan, Ghost thought, the troubling thoughts from Kiera's experience there pinging his chest, suddenly afraid that it was going to happen again, wishing he could take off himself and lead the mission on his own. I trust Price. He won't let it happen and neither will I.
