In Stars and Time is an amazing game and if you haven’t played it yet you should. Spoilers below the cut for Act 6!

So, we know Loop is Siffrin. But I don’t believe in 2 hats, I have a slightly different interpretation that I’m gonna explain here.

There are 3 hats. Siffrin, Saapfrin, and Satfrin. Siffrin is the one who went on the journey with Mira and co. Siffrin is the one who lost his eye defending Bonnie from a sadness. Siffrin is the one that made the wish that started the loop. Siffrin died to the rock trap in the death corridor in Loop 0.

And then there was Saapfrin. Pretty self explanatory, this is Loop. The protagonist of Sasasaap. Saapfrin gave up on their wish and made a new one. This takes us all the way back to Loop 1. (Or another run of Loop 0, but nothing in Loop 0 actually changes as far as I’m aware?) This brings us to Satfrin. Stardust, the protagonist of ISAT.

Neither Loop nor Stardust is truly Siffrin anymore. They don’t remember the journey that brought them here, they remember the horrors they experienced in the House. They are fundamentally different people now; They’ve Changed.

Where do you find these manuscripts? Is it like a website or do you find it randomly??

hey, thanks for the curiosity! lenghty answer below the cut :)

1)

medieval manuscripts are typically owned by libraries and showcased on the library's websites. so one thing i do is i randomly browse those digitized manuscript collections (like the collections of the bavarian state library or the bodleian libraries, to name just two), which everybody can do for free without any special access. some digital collections provide more useful tools than others (like search functions, filters, annotations on each manuscript). if they don't, the process of wading through numerous non-illustrated manuscripts before i find an illustrated one at all can be quite tedious.

there are databases which help to navigate the vast sea of manuscripts. the one i couldn't live without personally use the most is called KdIH (Katalog der deutschsprachigen illustrierten Handschriften des Mittelalters). it's a project which aims to list all illustrated medieval manuscripts written in german dialects. the KdIH provides descriptions of the contents of each manuscript (with a focus on the illustrations), and if there's a digital reproduction of a manuscript available anywhere, the KdIH usually links to it. the KdIH is an invaluable tool for me because of its focus on illustrated manuscripts, because of the informations it provides for each manuscript, and because of its useful search function (once you've gotten over the initial confusion of how to navigate the website). the downside is that it includes only german manuscripts, which is one of the main reasons for the over-representation of german manuscripts on my blog (sorry about that).

another important database for german manuscripts in general (i.e. not just illustrated ones) is the handschriftencensus, which catalogues information regarding the entirety of german language manuscripts of the middle ages, and also links to the digital reproductions of each manuscript.

then there are simply considerable snowball effects. if you do even just superficial research on any medieval topic at all (say, if you open the wikipedia article on alchemy), you will inevitably stumble upon mentions of specific illustrated manuscripts. the next step is to simply search for a digital copy of the manuscript in question (this part can sometimes be easier said than done, especially when you're coming from wikipedia). one thing to keep in mind is that a manuscript illustration seldom comes alone - so every hint to any illustration at all is a greatly valuable one (if you do what i do lol). there's always gonna be something interesting in any given illustrated manuscript. (sidenote: one very effective 'cheat code' would be to simply go through all manuscripts that other online hobbyist archivers of manuscript illustrations have gone through before - like @discardingimages on tumblr - but some kind of 'professional pride' detains me from doing so. that's just a kind of stubbornness though. like, i want to find my material more or less on my own, not just the images but also the manuscripts, and i apply arbitrary rules to my search as to what exactly that means.)

whatever tool or strategy i use to find specific illustrated manuscripts-- in the end, one unavoidable step is to actually manually skim through the (digitized) manuscript. i usually have at least a quick look at every single illustrated page, and i download or screenshot everything that is interesting to me. this process can take up to an hour per manuscript.

in conclusion, i'd say that finding cool illuminated manuscripts is much simpler than i would have thought before i started this blog. there are so many of them out there and they're basically just 'hidden in plain side', it's really astounding. finding the manuscripts doesn't require special skills, just some basic experience with/knowledge of the tools available. the reason i'm able to post interesting images almost daily is just that i spend a lot of time doing all of this, going through manuscripts, curating this blog, etc. i find a lot of comfort in it, i learn a lot along the way, and i immensely enjoy people's engagement with my posts. so that's that :)

Thank you all for the love on the Malevolent photoshoot pictures! Due to the interest, I thought I'd give y'all a peek under the cloak for some details about my half of the cosplay!

This is essentially what I wear under the yellow cloak: long black turtleneck, black leggings, and 5-inch platform Demonias, as I'm quite short. For the photoshoot, I added a long black skirt for extra swishy movement in photos.

A question I get a lot is if I'm able to see out of the mask, and the answer is yes! As you can see here, the eye holes of the mask are covered in a black mesh fabric, which allows me to have vision through them while giving the illusion that there's nothing behind the mask. I don't have much peripheral vision, but I can see pretty much everything else. You'll also notice that I glued a chunk of a paper towel tube to the mouth area of the mask, which modulates my voice similar to how John sounds in the podcast.

8b buddie oracle reading

okay i did a buddie specific oracle reading for the first five episodes of 8b using the wild unknown archetypes oracle deck by kim krans.

anyways into the reading:

8x09 - the womb (slightly tilted) - "this card is a call to keep things simple, to return, to be reborn in the name of love". an origin story. but the fact that its off kilter means there is some sort of disruption there. This is the beginning of the Big Buddie Arc; maybe buck's feelings realization is sidelined by maddie's disappearance-- i can especially see this happening since the womb represents the mother and maddie is a mother figure to him. he needs her to accept and come to terms with his feelings but obviously can't do that if she has been kidnapped. but no matter how lost maddie is physically and buck is emotionally, this card calls us to heal and grow.

8x10 - eros (slightly tilted) - "though eros can be depicted as unbridled sexuality and eroticism, a more conteplative understanding of this archetypal energy leads us to the root of desire itself. what do we long for? why are we awakened by love? you may find yourself swirling in a new territory of desire and sensuality" this kind of screams let buck fuck to me…like he's realized he has feelings for eddie, but doesn't think he can have him so he projects that longing and desire onto other people. the fact that its only mildly tilted, i think this won't last long. he'll quickly realize that is not helping anyone. wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the episode he has fully come to terms with his feelings. if we apply this to eddie--i don't think character arc wise he's at a place where he's able to acknowledge his attraction to himself but this would definitely speak to a hint of his reciprocal feelings of some sort. something not said out loud but the start of this journey into a new territory of desire and sensuality for him.

8x11 - the mountain (reversed) - a reversal indicates a significant barrier in achieving this energy. "the mountain can affect us in two ways: it can inspire and enliven us to rise to new heights…yet it can also create isolation" so this is eddie in el paso. his instict is going to be to self isolate, and lean into the puritan side of his upbringing. this card can create a separation from those we deem "below us". in this case i think this might be eddie himself. what he was beginning to acknowledge in LA (his queerness, his attraction to buck) is "beneath" him. but continuing to climb a mountain up, up, up is a fool's path. the jewels and crystals are WITHIN the mountain; within eddie. and at his very core, eddie is chris's father. once he digs deep, self reflects he'll be able to pull all this out and not only get his son back, but also finally be his true self.

8x12 - anima mundi - "epitomizes the principal 'accept all. reject none'" only slightly tilted so not much resistance here. at this point, its all smooth sailing for buddie (GODDDDDDDD) eddie knows he's gay. he knows hes in love with buck. this is a card of destiny and these boys are ready to go after theirs. together. they are complete together, each others world. and they're ready to accept that bond. (although with the slight tilt i could see like they b oth know and they're both ready but buck goes to el paso and eddie goes to LA and they don't tell each other or something silly like that)

8x13 - the unseen (mildly tilted) - "we cannot see it, yet it sees us--watching and waiting with wisdom both kind and instructive" moderately tilted this could be a challenge. an NDE where they both know how the other feels but they just can't quite get there. a reflection on how everything has lead them to this moment, how they've been circling around each other like the universe itself has willed it and yet when they're finally ready, the same destiny that has pulled buck and eddie together seems determined to now keep them apart. perhaps an eddie coma dream where shannon appears and is like go back to ur mans dude. i always knew you were gay. LMAOOOo. this is a card of clairvoyant guidance, spirit, and ancestors soooooo

i've had this deck for a while but haven't used it much because sometimes i get intimidated by oracle decks compared to tarot decks which i have a certain familiarity with regardless of which deck i use. BUT i found this deck to be really versatile and broadly applicable so!!!!

Hi, okay so first. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way you're feeling. Angry, sad, frustrated, whatever it is, I feel you. I've been there so often. It sounds trite, but you're feelings really are valid, and they're definitely coming from at least a place of truth.

Secondly, I know it DOES happen, but I think a lot of people assume that their friend will automatically leave them for a s/o. That is, in fact, not always the case. For aro's, yeah, but for allos just as much. Part of relationship hierarchies issues also lies in the assumption you place in your importance. Unless you've discussed it with your friend, this just might not be true.

Also, discuss it with your friend!!! It's scary, it's hard, it's uncomfortable, when you need to talk about something real. But like, you will feel more grounded in your relationship if you do. AND you'll know what to expect, and if your friend knows you have these fears, there is a high likelihood they will make changes to waylay them in you.

Lastly, okay you talked about it (or you flat out don't want to do that and aren't going to), you've gotta...diversify your portfolio? There's a thing where if you put all your eggs in one basket, it makes it all the worse when you lose said basket. That can be a s/o, a friend, a job, anything. If you have more fulfillment in other areas of your life, then less will hinge on one best friend, and you'll have that extra security. Maybe you already do, I don't know your life. But no matter what your best friend does or doesn't do, you'll have a wonderful, fulfilling life.

That being said, I personally ship the heck out of White x Red, and I personally imagine Redtail as trans. :'D For a while, I poked the idea that Sandstorm is secretly their kid, but I'm still on the fence about it.
