Everybody makes a joke of it...
...but the Liao delegation really did walk out of that wedding with a good forty or so plates. Not cheap, either, serious high-quality china. Custom work. The House still has them, and dines on them regularly. The Davions, for their part, still want them back, although their claims that it was unbecoming behavior for a wedding guest to steal the flatware fall flat to the typical riposte that declaring war is pretty unbecoming behavior for a host.

Was doing a bit of experimenting for these. A very very shiny silver with ork contrast paint over that.
The Idea (because canon is a bit vague on this) is for the all those "oh the NAIS (New Avalon Institute of Science) was working on this new mech" ideas and put them into 1 company. The general idea is 1 or 2 "experimental" or "rediscovered" models paired with 2 well known "guard" mechs to do trials with. It's my head canon for now and I'm sticking with it until there's a official source contradicting it.

In the Battletech universe, there are no good guys.

Instead, you get to choose your flavour of awful.
I, myself, am a Davion gal. House Davion of the Federated Suns are largely modeled off of the French and British monarchies, and are smug, imperialist assholes who deliver freedom by the barrel of a gun.
They haven’t got the biggest military in the setting, or the best equipped, but what they do have is well trained and professional, and they have a magnificent fetish preference for sticking autocannons on ANYTHING they’ll fit on. There is no amount of dakka that is considered too much dakka.
Anyway, all that is to say that I’ve been badging up my mechs lately. I’ve been using very, VERY tiny decals with the sun and sword Davion badge, even if I’m keeping my mechs OD green and not going for the blue, white and red (sound familiar?) parade schemes they tend to go for.

I had a super productive painting day doing some elemental bases

And some Crucian Militia

It felt so good to get these out of my pile of shame and onto the battlefield! I've already primed the next batch of mecha and I've loved watching my unpainted mini pile shrink.

weird but big thing about the BTAU I decided on at work today is that Hanse Davion makes Chrisjen's blood just fucking boil for some reason
nobody knows why the old lady hates this man from pretty damn far away both geographically and politically, but everyone knows who'd be walking out if you put 'em in a room together

BattleTech: The Succession Wars
🎲 Experience the epic conflicts of The Succession Wars board game, set in the BattleTech universe. Engage in strategic warfare reminiscent of Risk. Conquer, dominate, and seize your path to power! #BattleTech #MechWarrior #Gaming #SciFi #Mechs
Ah, The Succession Wars tabletop board game, a captivating embodiment of the tumultuous era that has shaped the very fabric of our noble houses of the Inner Sphere. As a House noble, I find myself drawn to the intricate tapestry of political intrigue and military strategy that unfolds upon the interstellar battlefield. It allows me to indulge in the art of grand manipulation, deftly navigating…

STAR WARS EPISODE II: Attack of the Clones 00:15:08
We get a little better look at Magaloof's stolen Gaba-18 here, and note it's a blue color scheme as opposed to the red one we saw next to Simon Greyshade's XJ-6.

Concept art of the Gaba-18 by Marc Gabbana (who I have to think the airspeeder was named after), from the Art of Episode II book.

How Cults Use Language to Control | Otherwords
20 June 2024
Host: Erica Brozovsky, Ph.D.
If there's one thing cult leaders do, it's talk. A LOT. Language is an integral part of how cults keep their members bonded, isolated and obedient.
Speak a lot to assert leadership 2:00
Use loaded language to push feelings 3:15
Use thought terminating clichés to suppress critical thinking 4:00
Encourage “Us vs Them” mentality 5:00
Create a lot of jargon to promote a sense of privilege for “secret knowledge” and again “Us vs Them” mentality 6:35
Incrementally alter the target's worldview ...
