Guang-hong de la Iglesia Wins at Asian Open
Takes Test Event by almost ten points
Friday, October 15, 2021
BEIJING, CHINA – Two-time World medalist Guang-hong de la Iglesia of China delivered a solid and convincing win at the Asian Open Trophy, to win the competition by almost ten points over two Japanese skaters. The 22-year-old won the free skate, skating a clean program to score 199.36, for an overall score of 298.30. “I feel very good about how this season is starting for me,” said the 2020 Four Continents silver medalist. “I have more work to do before my first Grand Prix event, but I am confident that I am on the right track to be competitive with everyone else this season.”
Three-time Japanese National Champion Kenjirou Minami also made a solid season debut, skating a clean program to score 191.41 for a total score of 288.70. “It’s a great start for me,” said the 22-year-old. “I just need to keep going, and I know I can reach my goals this season.” Minami stated that his goal is to be top ten at both the Olympics and Worlds – a feat he has yet to accomplish, but has been very close the past few years in doing so. “The next stop, though, is the Grand Prix series and Nationals – I know I can bring home title number four!”
Another skater hoping to waves this season, and made a good statement here, is reigning and two-time Japanese Bronze Medalist Koichiro Fujiwara. The teenager scored 179.98, with only two mistakes on his opening Quads, including a fall, marring an otherwise solid program. His overall score was 277.18. “I know if I would have skated cleanly, I might have challenged Minami for silver, but that’s okay,” said the 2020 Junior World silver medalist. “It’s about how you end the season, not start. So it’s a great start for me, and I know I can only get better as the season goes on.”
De la Iglesia’s next stop will be the Gran Premio d’Italia, the replacement for the now-cancelled Cup of China, where he will face not only Fujiwara and countrymen Cao Bin (who was fourth here) but also Phichit Chulanont of Thailand and Emil Nekola of the Czech Republic, who both had a solid season debut to win silver and bronze at the Lombardia Trophy last month.
Minami will start his season at home at the NHK Trophy, where he will face very stiff competition from four-time World medalist Otabek Altin of Kazakhstan and three-time European bronze medalist Michele Crispino of Italy.

.....would you like to tell us about the magic circus au 👀👀👀👀
I would LOVE to!
It starts out fairly normal, they're all working for Thomas at the Sanders Circus Spectacular! They perform a lot and they have a lot of fun!
Roman's favourite thing to do is dress his house cats up like lions and tigers and they're all named after famous Disney cats so it's amusing. He has them come out announced as huge wild animals and then the kitty comes out with a costume, it's adorable. He does tricks with them, sometimes they just lay around being cute.
Patton and Emile are clowns! They love to make people laugh and they're so silly and fun!
Virgil does the fire breath and fire eating and he juggles with firw. He likes that he has a lot of control of it.
Logan and Remy are in Trapeze! Logan loves being in the air cause he feels much freer up there. He also does tightrope.
Dee "charms" his pet snakes and also is the human pretzel.
Remus does the death cage act where he rides a motorcycle in a giant cage that's in fire. He loooves it!
It's all nice but then one day they all go through a tunnel in the train while traveling for their next shoe and by magic, they are all changed!
Roman becomes part lion and all his kitties turn into actual big cats he can talk to. He LOVES his new pride and they adore him and they all lounge and do what they want and their stage performances are typically filled with roaring and showing off fangs and teeth! Their cat types become obvious:
Mufasa becomes a lion
Marie becomes a white tiger
Raja becomes a tiger
Bagheera becomes a leopard
Patton and emile become small aforable dolls when not performing! They're always soft and squishy and cute! They squeak when you hug thwm and when they're in the ring they become human again!
Virgil has fire in his bones and glows like smouldering embers in the dark. When he breathes fire its real and he has a tendency to smoke from his mouth. The fire goes from yellow orange to purple the farther out He breathes. He takes up chewing on fake cigarettes so people think the smoke is normal even if ita quite purplish.
Logan and Remy gain telekensesis and can float objects including themselves. It helps them perform death defying feats and they both have swirling silver patterns along their bodies.
Dee becomes part snake with a large snake tail and scales. He's cold blooded so he's a cold boy and he can understand his snakes which he calls his babies and they act like he's their papa. Ita super cute. They sleep in a pile and everyone calls it the noodle bowl.
Thomas and Remus don't get any powers (or so they think!) And it complicates things cause Remus thinks he's not helpful or special.
But here's the catch! The ones who cast the spell wanted to take them into their frwakshow. They weren't expecting them to be circus performers though and were surprised they just ran with it. Even the roustabouts turned into living scarecrow-like dolls.

Estonian decathlete Maicel Uibo won Silver in the Men's Decathlon at the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar on 3rd of October.
His wife Shaunae Miller-Uibo had already also won Silver earlier in the night in the Women's 400 Meters.
Such feat has been only seen once before, 67 years previous at Helsinki 1952 Olympic Games by Emil Zátopek and Dana Zátopková, who both won gold medals in their disciplines and completed a husband-wife medal double on the same day.
Palju õnne Uibodele!

Hey Leo first off sorry I just came at you with that question like that lol I really love your book and the characters might be one of my favorites. Okay sorry for the same day questions but Since I found out you love Dmc (and you are my favorite now btw) what would the Ro's weapons (and or abilities if you wanna get creative) be if they were in that universe as devil hunters like Lady or Trish. I wanted to ask a question I hope you would get really into have a great day Leo!
No problem! Ask as many questions as you want. I apologize if I don’t get to them right away though. It makes me happy to know you enjoy my work and that I’ve become a favorite for someone haha. Your question is really interesting, and it’s unfortunate that I probably won’t be able to come up with iconic weapons like the ones provided in Devil May Cry haha. I think I can get into this one though, let me see if I can be kinda creative with it. For the sake of it, let’s say all of the characters are playable in an upcoming game...Triaina Might Weep. I’m a complete nerd, so forgive me haha. I’ll try to list stuff the same for each. Also some of these ideas are things I’ve already come up with...for future use, so yeah haha.
Emma/Emil:
- Playstyle: A fast-paced acrobat, using punches and kicks paired with momentum-keeping spins.
- Weapon: Retracer, a pair of gloves and shoes that create tangible afterimages of whatever E does, multiplying the amount of hits they do.
- Restep (within the same vein as Dante’s Styles): E can selectively choose the creation of their afterimage, either using them as multi hit, attacking multiple enemies, or shadow-boxing from range.
- Five Step Sibling (within the same vein as Virgil’s Judgement Cut or Dante’s Sin Devil Trigger. An ultimate attack per se): E pushes Retracer to its limits in creating five doppelgangers whom act independently as each one flashes in and out of the battlefield before simultaneously colliding on the strongest enemy.
Ren/Robin:
- Playstyle: An unorthodox playstyle that relies heavily on small chances for incredible damage.
- Weapon: Ace, a deck of demonic cards that act as a conduit and feeds on R’s overwhelming luck. They hold a mind of their own and can be used either as a defensive wall, offensive ranged weapon, or incapacitating net.
- Draw: R’s cards are always facing away from them. He can select four cards at random, the effects of which are dependent on the outcome. If none of the cards are above Ten, R regains health and power. If some cards are suits, does a small explosion for small damage. If all cards are suits, does a large series of explosions around them. If R draws four aces, causes the other 48 cards to home in on enemies and explode.
- Luck of the Draw: Only usable if R draws four aces. They toss out the last four cards they hold in the direction of the toughest enemy, causing an attack that kills them instantly, no matter the amount of health.
Leah/Levi:
- Playstyle: A counter playstyle that relies on knowing the enemy’s attack and reacting to it.
- Weapon: Omniscient Guide, a book holding forbidden knowledge that allows them to build up power equivalent to the amount of times they counter and evade.
- Premonition: L can tap into the power of the forbidden scripture to summon floating eyes which see and convey the movements of all enemies around them five seconds in advance.
- I Know Your Every Move: After L counters/evades enough attacks in succession the forbidden book will grant L power, allowing them to take the offensive with high-damage sweeping lasers while automatically evading any attack that comes their way.
Vee/Vin:
- Playstyle: A duel wielding playstyle focusing on fast suppression and quick elimination.
- Weapon: Silvy and Gold. Silvy is an angelic silver pistol with the ability to summon firearms they’ve claimed in their various battles. Gold is a sacrificial golden knife that feeds on emotion for power.
- Battlefield Tactician: V can switch between a ranged gunner playstyle using Silvy and their various summoned firearms, to a close ranged fighting style using Gold and their various powers.
- All That Glitters...: After enough kills, V will enter Apathy Mode. In this mode, they will do more damage with Silvy and less damage with Gold, however using Gold will activate ‘All That Glitters...’ and V will immediately exit Apathy Mode as they summon various large-scale bombs before setting them off with a barrage of bullets from two Silvys.
Pinna/Pierce:
- Playstyle: A slow, powerful, bruiser playstyle whose damage increases as their health decreases.
- Weapon: Abaddon, a demonic chain that wraps itself around P’s arms and is used primarily in a sweeping, whip-like attack. The chain is wreathed in flames and curses the wielder with insatiable rage.
- Rage: When P takes damage or inflicts damage, they receive points into their Rage. The more Rage they have, the stronger their attacks and the longer their chains get as the fire burns stronger.
- See You In Hell!: When P’s Rage reaches Max, they’ll have access to this ability, which causes a large area of ground in front of them to set aflame as various giant chains wrap around each enemy and pull them towards the ground before setting a chain reaction of explosions. After the ability, P will lose all rage.
Mary/Matthew:
- Playstyle: A slow, disabling playstyle who relies on incapacitating an enemy first before killing them.
- Weapon: Niflheim, a translucent scythe permeating a chilling icy mist. The scythe grants its wielder power in exchange for darkened souls.
- Encroachment: M has the passive effect of chilling mist surrounding them and slowing down nearby enemies. The more darkened souls they reap, the larger this field becomes and the stronger the effect is.
- A Cold Sleep For All. M extends the reach of their Encroachment effect to its limit, slowing all enemies in sight before delivering a rending circular cut with Neflheim, dealing an incredible amount of damage. If the souls reaped from this ability, exceeds a specific amount, M will extend the attack with a snap of their fingers, killing the enemies hit and allowing the use of this ability one more time.
Raven:
- Playstyle: A stealth-oriented close combat playstyle that relies on disabling and striking the enemy from blindspot.
- Weapon: Bloodletter, a demonic pair of knives connected by a thin wire. Drinking the blood of the strong allows them to grow stronger.
- Sadistic Mercy. Raven cannot outright kill their enemies, instead putting otherwise dead enemies into Fear of Death state. The more enemies within this state, the more damage and speed Raven gets. Raven can execute an individual in Fear of Death state with a secondary input, allowing bloodletter to feed.
- The Bell Tolls For Thee. When enough enemies are put into Fear of Death state, a frenzied Raven will cut themselves with Bloodletter. A distant bell will sound, signaling the despair of all enemies as a shadow falls across each enemy in Fear of Death state, executing everyone simultaneously.
Snipper/Snatcher:
- Playstyle: A speed-based playstyle that focuses on jumping in and out of combat.
- Weapon: Sand, an humanoid angelic spirit embodying the forces of the desert. Forming a pact with this spirit, S can summon objects from sand as well as fight side by side on equal footing with them.
- Dynamic Duo: Whenever S and Sand do a combination attack, S gains points into this meter. S can use this meter to summon various objects, command Sand, or instantaneously switch places with their partner.
- Full Throttle Overkill: When S fill up their Dynamic Duo meter, they will have access to this ability. S summons Sand, who takes on the form of an angelic motorcycle. Using insane speed, the two flash through the battlefield several times before driving in a circle, creating a large tornado of sand that cuts up anything caught within.
Fray/Flay:
- Playstyle: A methodical playstyle reliant on clever traps and ranged attacks.
- Weapon: Eden, a demonic bow made of twisted wood from the Forbidden Tree. Has the power to bring to fruition nature and life, and in exchange curses its wielder with the preternatural insight of their own death. Despite this, F has found ways to cheat death using this forbidden insight, a feat which the bow revels in.
- So Predictable: F gains points in this meter whenever they successfully hit an enemy with a trap. They can spend points to create larger traps and stronger attacks using Eden.
- Predestined Death: When F gains enough points in their meter, they will enter Conniving mode for a short period. While in this mode, any damage taken by F will instead transfer to the attacker. If damage reflected exceeds a specific threshold, F’s conniving mind will find a way to cheat their death yet again, instead using the power of Eden to transfer their misfortune onto another.
This was a lot of fun to create, although it took some time. I hope you enjoyed it. I know I did cuz I’m a hardcore nerd. I’m honestly kinda thinking of expanding on it somehow hahaha. Thank you for the fun ask :) and have a great day yourself!

Of Magic and Houses
*waves hands mysteriously* Me and my terrible fic naming was never hereee.
Summary: Hogwarts AU- Patton, Roman, and Logan all get sorted into their houses- Patton and Roman meet a mysterious boy in the corridors late at night- and Roman makes a new friend.
Ships: ...There may be a lovely, blatant, hint of Remile (...it. It just kinda happened....) ...Otherwise, nope, just friendship building.
Warnings: Pat’s a lonely little child without his twin and Logan and Virgil are anxious beans. Tell me if anything needs tagging.
Words: 3475
They had always assumed they would be sorted in the same house.
Not that the Sanders twins had ever sat down and talked about which one they would end up in. Maybe Patton assumed that, like their older brother Thomas, they would end up in Hufflepuff. It was the family house. Maybe Roman thought Gryffindor fit them better and never brought it up.
Somewhere, Patton decides, they forgot to talk about it. He was so ready for his brother to follow him right under the yellow and black banner that he audibly gasped when the hat loudly announced “Gryffindor!” Even Roman seemed surprised for a moment. His gaze instantly met Patton’s.
Now, they didn’t have a psychic link, not at all. That was a magical ability they did not possess. They did, however, know each other very well. It was easy to read each other’s faces. Patton felt a pang of loss settle in his stomach when his brother gave him a glance that was so many things. Of course, Roman was excited about being in Gryffindor. It was a house with a reputation, after all.
Patton felt a reassuring hand on his shoulder, his older sibling was smiling gently at him, a touch of concern in his eyes. He broke into a trademark smile and watched the rest of the kids get sorted to various houses.
Logan rung his hands, eyes darting back and forth over the tables. The hat on his head hummed in consideration.
“Although,” it hummed in consideration, “Perhaps Slytherin is a better fit.”
Logan glanced towards the green and silver banner, the last one the hat could consider placing him under. “Slytherin is built on ambition and dedication. A sly wit and cunning nature. The house would surely help you build a name for yourself.”
The 12-year-old furrowed his brow and glanced back up at the hat. Each house had been painted in a pleasant enough light, given a fair chance. Perhaps, it was an attempt to seal in the idea he would belong in any of the houses. Logan let out a small huff under his breath. It wanted him to choose.
“Oh, you’re quick.” The hat laughed.
Logan simply sighs at the remark. “I’m assuming you’ve come to the conclusion of-”
“RAVENCLAW!” The hat announced. Logan rolled his eyes; the Sorting Hat sure had a thing for theatrics.
Logan walked to the blue-themed house and settled under the banner with a cheer of student’s he didn’t know swarming over him. He suppressed a flinch and tried his best to seclude himself to the edge of the table. Part of him supposed he should be happy about the warm welcome, but it felt hollow. A cheer for the house and gaining another member, rather than the member himself.
His mother would complain he was being too cynical. ‘Give them a chance’ she would coon, and peck a kiss against his forehead. If anything, an unbiased view of the world was his goal. It simplified things. Made life easier to swallow. After all, nothing was black and white. ‘I’ll give them a chance when I know more.’ would be the retort on his tongue. Even if he never said the words aloud. Ravenclaw simply fit him. The more you know, the better you could control your world.
“Hello, First Years!” the head boy announced to the table, “Do you, how do?”
Patton smiled brightly as the rest of the table either giggled or groaned, a few answers were thrown into the mix as well.
He smiled, “Wonderful! My name is Emile Picani, you are welcome to address me as Emile or Picani, whichever giggles your gut!” Emile beamed at the small crowd of youths that barely came up to his chest in height, “I am your adviser, confidant, and, hopefully, a friend! So, please feel welcome to ask me anything and everything!”
“Ok!” another head-boy’s voice boomed, walking backward. “Miniaturized humans! If you would follow me, my name’s Remy Melatin, my initials spell R-E-M and if you knew more about science you’d be laughing right now! And, no, my middle name is not for display, I’m aware of how much you all enjoy finding out the secrets of others!” The Slytherin head-boy turned around as he led his collection of first years, giving Emile a wide smile.
Patton watched the exuberant Head-boy before looking up at Emile, who was giving Remy a fairly stern look.
Remy leaned in closer to Emile and winked, “Enjoy me while I’m hot, girl.”
Patton tilted his head as Emile turned his attention back to his first years, lips pursed tight.
“Excuse me, Emile?”
“Yes- um Pattini?” Emile said, glancing down at the first year.
“Patton.” He corrected.
Emile looked him over, “I swear it was Pattini but I suppose I could be wrong. Yes, what was it?”
“I was just… wondering what Remy meant. And why’d he call you girl?”
Emile’s eyes widened, and he glanced up, seeming to search for someone. “I would suggest you leave such inquiries to your elder brother,” He said, his voice lowered into a more conversational tone, “As for the term ‘girl’… I believe Remy enjoys employing it’s use gender neutrally.”
Patton nodded, “Do you like being called girl?”
“Between you and me?” Emile let out a breath with a small smile, “Occasionally.”
“Okay!” Patton said, “Tell me when you do.”
Emile smiled a little wider and glanced back up at the group, “Alright! Follow me! Let me show you why we’ve got the best house in the house!” Emile announced, laughing to himself.
The boys in his room were nice. Brian, Gaius, and August. See, he already knew their names! That’s a feat! But, with August snoring and Brian babbling in his sleep, Patton was still wide awake. Patton stared at the ceiling. Which was much different from staring at the wood under Roman’s half of the bunk. Very different.
He sat up.
Emile had reinforced the fact that they weren’t allowed out of the dormitories after lights-out. Thomas had even reminded him. Thomas would only remind him if that meant he thought he would go out and do it, and he would only usually break the rules if Roman was there insisting that the rule was dumb (they usually were, but, maybe that’s a bias he’s started to hold in retrospect). Patton bit his lip, glancing over the other boys in his room. This was definitely a dumb rule.
He missed his twin, ok? He really, really, missed him. It didn’t help they hadn’t had much of a chance to meet up because they were being carted around by the prefects of their houses. He could probably find the Gryffindor dormitory without trouble. He chewed on his lower lip more. A breath escaped his lips and he was standing up, bare feet landing softly on the floor.
There was a constant scream in the back of his mind. You’ll get caught, you’re breaking the rules, on your first day no less, you’re already breaking the rules, you’ll get caught. He clung to his new wand like he usually clung to his brother’s sleeve when the mantras of trouble rang in his head. The darkness of the whole place at night almost made him turn back. Yet he stepped bravely forward, weaving his way through the castle, hyper-aware of every creak and moan.
Patton froze when he heard footsteps. His eyes darted from one end of the hall to the other. The footsteps burst into a run and Patton yelped as a figure practically lunged at him. Instead of being eaten alive or worse, he was being hugged. It was a very familiar hug. He curled his arms around the familiar warmth of his twin, nestling his head in the crook of his shoulder. The pair squeezed each other tight for a long while.
Roman pulled back to arm’s length and smiled at him, “I was going to go to Hufflepuff. I almost thought you were the caretaker!”
“I was going to Gryffindor. And I thought you were going to eat me!” Patton squeaked.
Roman giggled, and nipped Patton’s nose with his hand, “Nom-nom. Nummy Little Hufflepuff.”
Patton squirmed in a half-hearted attempt to rid himself of his twin’s attack on his face, giggling as he did so, “Stop it. Stop! We’re not 5.”
Roman let out an exaggerated sigh and pouted, “Fine.” The smile quickly returned to his face, however, “It’s funny we both decided to sneak out though. I thought you’d be too scared.”
Patton shoved his sibling in mock offense. He never did ‘offended’ as well as Roman could, however, and they began to walk somewhat aimlessly through the dark corridors.
They talked for what felt like hours. About new friends (Roman apparently was aided by his new Gryffindor roommates, Nate, Apollo and ‘Pranks’). Complaining about the rules they found weird and annoying. About how to get into each other’s houses. Really anything they could find to inform the other twin about.
In their stroll through the corridors, their quiet chatter ceased when Roman halted. “Did you hear that?”
“We are getting close to Hufflepuff and the kitchens,” Patton muttered.
“No, it sounded like footsteps. That way,” Roman insisted, pointing towards the hall just past the kitchen’s entry.
Patton frowned, “Ro,” he warned his brother, who was already inching closer towards the sound.
“Pat.”
Patton bounced on his heels before groaning and following after his twin, worming his hands around his arm. “I hate you.”
Roman smirked and bumped Patton with his elbow, “Love ya too.”
As they walked nearer, Patton pulled out his wand, seeing a swish of dark fabric darting behind a corner. Patton glanced at Roman, who appeared wandless. They didn’t know many spells, just ones they’d heard around the house. But Patton had practiced the motions and sounds of Lumos enough that he should be able to use it. He was mostly scared of two things- spiders, and the dark. He’d almost gotten over the dark, but, right now felt like a time for light to shower over them. He clung closer to Roman as his twin dared closer to where he’d seen the figure dart behind.
“What are you doing out of bed?”
Patton squeaked. The caretaker wasn’t looking at them however, the light was flooding down the corridor they were inching toward. A swear echoed through the corridor, and whoever the cloaked figure was turned the corridor and blindly turned and collided with the twins. They scrambled to a stand and the boy looked between them before back towards the rapidly approaching light. Patton took both his brother’s and this new boy’s hands and pulled them down the corridor, he scrambled to a halt and tapped frantically onto a barrel causing the lid to swing open. He ushered the boys in and followed after.
They collapsed into each other upon entering and the door shut behind them. Patton fell onto the ground to catch his breath and glanced up at Roman and the mystery boy, whose hood had fallen off. Patton pointed at the boy, “Who’re you?”
The boy’s eyes widened behind the curtain of black bangs, and roughly put his hood back on, “Nobody.” he whispered harshly, moving back towards the door, “How do I get out? I need out.”
“Why?” Roman asked.
He turned sharply towards the two, “Just let me get out!”
“It’s just a door,” Patton said, “You open it... You know, if you need food I have some in my room,” Patton said quietly.
Roman and the boy looked down at Patton and he smiled, “My name’s Patton, that’s my evil twin Roman,” his twin let out one of his many offended sounds. Patton shuffled to a stand and held out his hand, “I’m sorry we scared you.”
The boy lowered his hood again and slowly took Patton’s hand, “Um.” He twisted his eyes shut muttering something sounding vaguely like: ‘like a bandaid’, before he breathed out, “mynameisvirgil.”
Patton smiled, “Nice to meet you, Virgil.”
“Your common room is definitely the easiest to get into,” Roman said softly, looking around the room.
Patton rolled his eyes, “You say that now.” Patton smiled at the cloaked boy, “Com’on Virgil, my bunk-buddies seem the type to be hard sleepers, they won’t mind the extra friend.”
Roman lounged in Patton’s bed as his sibling watched Virgil nibble on his stash of food.
“How’d you even sneak all that in without Thomas noticing?” Roman murmured.
Patton simply leaned back to give a wide grin to his sibling.
“You’re a cunning little badger,” Roman whispered, eyes narrowed.
“Hey, Virge, which house do you belong to?” Patton asked, tilting his head.
Virgil stiffened and eyeing him with suspicion. “Don’t have one.”
“Nonsense, everyone has a house!” Roman declared. One of Patton’s roommates mumbled to themselves and Roman let out an uneasy giggle.
“Well, I don’t,” Virgil grumbled.
“Why not?” Patton asked, tilting his head gently. “It’s okay. We won’t tell.”
Virgil rubbed the back of his head before sighing, “I snuck onto the train… I’m not- supposed to be here.”
Roman and Patton glanced at each other, but, seeing Virgil’s face, silently agreed to keep their questions to themselves.
The light of morning filtered into the dormitory and Patton squinted out the light, the chatter of boys filling the room. Gaius was humming to himself while Brian and August talked over each other.
Patton leaned up and quirked a brow. No Roman, no Virgil. Later in the day, he met back with Roman. Roman who did not have a Virgil trailing behind him or near him.
“Where’s our new friend?” Patton asked, tilting his head gently.
Roman shrugged, “I went back to my dormitory and he said he knew a spot he could go to sleep.”
“He doesn’t have a dormitory Roman!”
“I know,” he huffed, “It wasn’t like I could force him to stay in your dorm or come with me to mine. He doesn’t want to be caught.”
“Well, he’s gonna get caught if he’s sleeping in some random classroom or something! Did he tell you where he went?”
Roman deadpanned and Patton groaned, “Fine, fine, he’ll probably head back to the kitchens tonight, hopefully before curfew, and we can talk to him.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Roman said simply. He hummed, “If only I could recreate an invisibility cloak.”
Patton breathed out a sigh, “Like that’ll happen.”
“But it exists, it has to be re-creatable! I bet I could make it be even better! Maybe it’s some special thread? You can knit, we can have the knitted Blanket of Invisibility. Useful and soft!”
“Oh boy,” Patton muttered with a smile as Roman continued his tangent on his personal invisibility cloak idea.
Roman was examining the library, picking every book he found interesting off the shelf. He carried the stack, which was nearly reached over his eyes, to a table, and set them down. Plopping himself down, he collected his quill and paper and began jotting down the titles.
“Might I suggest the Monster Book of Monsters while you’re at it?”
Roman yelped and looked up at the boy who was smiling at him. He did a once over of the boy- most likely his year, Ravenclaw from the blue tie (who wears the tie outside of class?), glasses (was he farsighted or nearsighted?), and an aura of just- nerdiness.
“Uh, what’s it about?” Roman muttered.
“Magical creatures, obviously. Specifically, the ones often considered more dangerous. It was a very- interactive book.”
“Mon-ster Book of Monst-ers,” Roman mumbled as he scribbled the name down.
The Ravenclaw leaned over to look at his parchment. “Why, if I may I ask- are you writing down the titles when you already picked them out?”
“Can’t read ‘em all in a day, can I?” Roman leaned back, looking at his stack, “I’m gonna know as much as I can as fast as I can. Get ahead of the ball before I’m crushed by it.”
The boy snorted and covered his smile, shaking his head. “Okay. So you just want to remember which ones interested you for when you return.”
Roman nodded, and extended his hand, “I’m Roman.”
“Logan. Pleased to make your acquaintance.”
“So Mr. Logan,” Roman said, folding his arms, “Why are you taking refuge in the library?”
Logan stiffened, “Refuge?”
Roman gave a concerned look to the boy, “Sorry, I just meant- you don’t have a book.” he said, gesturing to Logan’s empty hands.
A sigh seemed to shake out all the tension in his shoulders, “I just haven’t found one yet.”
“So you’re a picky reader,” Roman said with a smirk.
Logan breathed out a smile. “Maybe.”
They chatted easily after that. It felt impossible to run out of conversation. Especially when Logan pointed out another book Roman had in his pile and asked why he planned on reading it. By the time they needed to go back to classes, Roman hadn’t a chance to even begin a book.
Logan walked alongside Roman as they made their way to their classes.
“Which class is next on your schedule anyway?”
“Oh, um,” Roman rummaged through his pockets, folding out a piece of paper, “Defence Against the Dark Arts.”
Logan straightened, “Me too,” he said, peering over to look at the paper, “It seems we have class together.”
Roman smiled brightly, “Great! I already have a friend to cheat off of.”
Logan looked scandalized for a moment, but the goofy smile on Roman’s face made him break into laughter. Roman smiled as his new friend laughed, punctuated with snorts as he did his best to compose himself.
Roman had quickly learned that whatever Logan’s laugh was, it wasn’t a full on laugh. He could get Patton to laugh in 10 seconds, Thomas would laugh so hard he usually doubled over. Logan. Did. Not. Laugh. So many good jokes. Wasted! Roman was close to calling him The-Boy-Who-Never-Laughs. Sure was it a leap from the fact he hadn’t heard his new friend laugh like this from the few hours he had known him? Probably. Did that mean he was wrong? Nope. Not in his mind at least.
“You’re insufferable,” Logan said, his smile crooked when he finally uncovered his face.
“Excuse you,” Roman placed his hands on his hips and jutted his chin out, “I’m spectacular!”
“Point proven,” Logan said simply, rolling his eyes before continuing his walk to class.
Roman paced in front of the Hufflepuff commons as night began to fall. A tap on his shoulder made Roman scream before he turned to look at Patton. His shoulders relaxed and he groaned, “What is all that?”
Patton frowned as his bag was pointed at accusingly, “Goodie bag?” Patton opened the bag, rummaging through it, “I’ve got food, the extra toothbrush Mum had me pack -I can get another new toothbrush over Christmas break-”
“She didn't make me pack two.”
“Do you have one?” Patton said, eyes darting up to his sibling.
“Yess?” Roman said slowly.
Patton let out a suspicious hum before returning to his bag, “Pillow, blanket, an extra set of clothes, a jumper-”
“You’re going to mother this kid to death,” Roman said, peering over his brother’s head into the bag himself.
“I’m gonna dad-ify this kid to life!” Patton corrected.
Roman shook his head and shoved his sibling, “Ok padre Patton, what next?”
“Wait?” Patton muttered slowly.
“Cool, I can tell you about my new friend then,” Roman said, taking an apple from Patton’s goodie bag and leaning against the wall. Patton snatched back the apple with a stern frown and Roman gasped loudly.
It was the feeling of another presence that woke Roman up. Patton’s snores were soft in his ear and his right arm was turned into pins and needles from his brother leaning on him.
He opened his eyes to Virgil hovering over them.
“Hey Storm Cloud,” Roman said softly, yawning as he shoved his twin off of him.
Virgil raised a brow, “Storm Cloud?” he echoed.
“Would you rather one of the other nicknames I came up with?” Roman said with a gentle smirk of a smile.
Virgil shook his head and glanced at Patton who had fallen back onto Roman’s shoulder, “Why are you guys out here?” Virgil whispered.
“We assumed you’d be here before the caretaker would be.”
Virgil puffed the dark hairs out of his eyes. It settled stubbornly back in front of his eyes. “Let me repeat myself. Why?”
“Checkin if you’re ‘kay,” Patton grumbled sleepily.
“I’m fine. I can handle myself,” Virgil folded his arms, “Why are you two so nosey.”
“We’re your friends now, Dark and Gloomy, get used to it.”
Virgil gave a sideways smile before sitting down in front of the twins as Patton stretched and wordlessly scooted the bag over towards Virgil.
OK AAAAAH. I’ve been sitting on this one for a while.....

Okay, so the Yuri!!! on Ice item that I'll be reviewing today is Yuri!!! on Stage, on Blu-ray. (It’s also available on DVD, but I chose to get the Blu-ray because the image quality would be better.) I'm sure a lot of people have talked about it already, however I will translate the scene titles and discuss an additional feature that you might have missed if you didn't explore the menu screen. I will also show the bonus items packaged with the disc, and show the extra special items that you could only get if you ordered it from Animate! So, hopefully this review will still have something useful. ^_^
Just in case anyone isn't familiar with Yuri!!! on Stage yet, it was a live show that took place on April 29, 2017 at Maihama Amphitheater. The voice actors for most of the male skaters were there, plus the voice actor for Takeshi Nishigori, and series writer Mitsurou Kubo. They did a bunch of fun stuff like discussing their favorite scenes from the anime, playing games, and performing a NEW STORY that takes place after the TV series (the new story was an audio drama that they voiced live, so it wasn't animated). The Yuri!!! on Stage event actually occurred twice on that day... once in the afternoon, and once in the evening. There were a few differences between the two versions of the event, however the audio drama was the same story both times. The Blu-ray and DVD are a video recording of the evening version. As an example of one of the cute things you can see in the video, check out the image below... from left to right, that's Junichi Suwabe (voice of Victor), Toshiyuki Toyonaga (voice of Yuri), and Koki Uchiyama (voice of Yurio):
Sorry for my bad photograph of the screen, but taking high-quality screen captures from BDs is a no-no. Anyway, yes, the above image is a reference to Yuri poking Victor's hair in the anime, except here it's Victor's voice actor doing it to Yuri's voice actor. Hilarious! Also, wow, Suwabe bleached his hair to look more like Victor. Talk about dedication!
Want to know more? Keep reading for the rest of the review, plus a few more pictures!
There are no subtitles, so you'll miss out on a lot if you don't understand Japanese, although for some reason the end credits are in English. The scene selection menu is written in Japanese, but don't worry, I'll translate the scene titles for you! The first one is simply called "Opening", and it's the part of the show that introduced the characters and their voice actors. Unfortunately, the actors who play as JJ, Otabek, and Michele were not able to make it to the event, however they had recorded videos that were played later in the show.
The second segment is named "Jibun o Suki ni Natte... Popovich no Carabosse no Heya", which means "Like Yourself... Popovich's Room of Carabosse". (The "Like Yourself" bit is a reference to the title for episode 4 of Yuri!!! on Ice, "Like Yourself... And Complete the Free Program!"). The MC for this part was Wataru Hatano, the voice of Georgi Popovich and also the artist who sang the anime's ending theme, "You Only Live Once". Basically, the voice actors were divided into groups, and the actors discussed their favorite scenes from the anime involving their characters. For example, Kensho Ono (voice of Phichit) chose the "Congratulations on your marriage!" line from episode 10 as his favorite Phichit scene. He has good taste! Mitsurou Kubo also commented on the fans' enthusiasm for that scene. Here's an image showing Wataru Hatano on the left, and Mitsurou Kubo on the right:
The third part is called "Chou Chou Chou Chou Ganbaranba! Katsudon Pirozhki Soudatsu! World Question!" ("Gotta Super-Super-Super-Supercharge It! Katsudon Pirozhki Contest! World Question!"... Whew, these titles are a mouthful, ha ha!). For this part, a bit of dialogue from the anime had been translated into Russian, and after a Russian-speaking person read the dialogue out loud, the voice actors had to guess what scene from the anime it was. (For the afternoon version of Yuri!!! on Stage, a scene had been translated into Thai instead of Russian.) By the way, it turned out the Russian speaker's name was Emil, much to the amusement of Satoshi Hino, the voice of Emil Nekola.
Even though Mamoru Miyano (voice of JJ) wasn't able to make it to the event, there was a video of him giving the voice actors a hint for this Russian game. Frankly, the scene was pretty simple to guess even without the clue (you can hear Emil say "pirozhki" and "katsudon", which narrows down the possibilities quite a bit), but I'm always up for more JJ Style, so I enjoyed the hint video anyway.
The fourth section is named "Afureko Imagination Show" ("afureko" is short for "after recording", meaning adding sound after a film has been made... so I guess it can be translated as "dubbing" or something like that). For this part, they played various clips from the anime, but instead of using the recorded audio from the show, the voice actors performed their dialogue live! Very cool.
Next, the fifth part is called "Special Video Letter", which had video messages from Yoshimasa Hosoya (voice of Otabek) and Tomoaki Maeno (voice of Michele), since they weren't able to make it to the event. After that, there were a few more clips from the anime, with the voice actors for Victor, Yuri, and Yurio performing their lines live... but with something very special added to the stage! Part of the floor had been replaced with a miniature skating rink (just a small square of ice, really), so figure skater Honoka Kawanishi could perform Yurio's free skate during these scenes. Wow! Since the square of ice she had on the stage was so small, there wasn't enough room for her to do the jumps, but it was still a lovely performance. What a brilliant idea! Check it out:
The sixth segment is named "Roudoku Geki Hasetsu Exhibition Onsen!!! on ICE Victor with Friends" ("Reading Drama Hasetsu Exhibition Hot Springs!!! on ICE Victor with Friends"), which is probably the part of Yuri!!! on Stage that people have talked the most about already. As mentioned earlier in this review, it's a new story that takes place after the TV series. It was written by Kimiko Ueno. This story is not animated, but the voice actors are fun to watch as they read their scripts, and music from the anime is played in the background, which is a nice touch.
I won't get into too much detail about the plot, because so many other people have posted about it already. But to put it simply, the skaters have gathered in Yuri's hometown for an ice show called "Victor with Friends", however a little too much drinking and partying happens the night before the show. If you've ever wondered what would happen if Victor and Yuri both got drunk at the same time, well... it involves a lot of flexibility, and not much clothing! There's also a hilarious misunderstanding involving Yuri's drunken ramblings about a statue of Shachihoko (a legendary creature that is part tiger and part fish), which Victor mistakenly interprets as Yuri reminiscing about a really flexible ex-lover named "Chihoko". Silly Victor, getting jealous over a fish statue! It's pretty funny. (By the way, there was another live event in the summer called Yuri!!! on Festival which included a sequel drama, about Yuri getting possessed by a squid demon. Unfortunately, word has it that Yuri!!! on Festival will not be getting a DVD/Blu-ray release. Hopefully they'll change their minds, or at least release the drama part as a CD.)
Okay, moving on... The seventh part is called "LIVE You Only Live Once Yuri!!! on ICE feat. w.hatano". As you can probably guess by that title, Wataru Hatano did a live performance of the ending theme to the anime. He was accompanied by two backup dancers.
The eighth section is called "Ending", which had everyone wrapping things up and thanking the audience. After that, everything seemingly ends with the credits... If you have the Blu-ray or DVD, did your video player just go to the menu screen after the credits finished? That's what mine did, however there's actually more on the disc! If you look on the menu screen, the last numbered segment is part 8, which is the aforementioned "Ending". But after that, there's one more item, which doesn't have a number. So be sure not to miss it! This last bit is another version of the Special Video Letters from Mamoru Miyano (JJ), Yoshimasa Hosoya (Otabek), and Tomoaki Maeno (Michele). You can tell these must be from the afternoon version of Yuri!!! on Stage, because Mamoru Miyano gives a Thai clue instead of a Russian clue.
That's it for the show, so next I'll talk about the bonus items packaged with the disc, and then I'll talk about the extra special goodies that you could only get if you ordered it from Animate. Yay! First, there's a little booklet that comes with the disc. It has a shiny silver cover, but unfortunately my photo doesn't do it justice:
This is basically a miniature version of a pamphlet at that was sold at the Yuri!!! on Stage event, except the mini version is missing a few pages advertising Yuri!!! on Ice merchandise (although it makes up for it by having extra artwork for the last page). I think the reason why it's miniature is because it had to be the same length and width as a DVD case, to avoid an awkward packaging situation. It includes some really nice photos and profiles of the voice actors. I actually have the full size version of the pamphlet that was sold at the event, so I'll be covering that in a future review. In other words, I will wait until that review before I get into further detail about the contents of this booklet. (EDIT: My review of the pamphlet is now available!)
Okay, the other item packaged with the disc is this Makkachin selfie light, which can be attached to a smartphone:
Isn't that adorable? All right, next I'll talk about the additional goodies that were obtainable by ordering Yuri!!! on Stage from Animate. The first one is a "portrait". On the outside, it looks like a thin gray hardcover book...
...but it's not actually a book, because there's just a picture inside. But it's a very nice picture. What kind of picture, you ask? It's a beautiful textless version of the Yuri!!! on Stage cover art! Check it out:
So nice! And finally, people who pre-ordered from Animate under certain conditions were able to get a cute little Makkachin can badge. I took a close-up of it, so you can get a really good look:
Overall, Yuri!!! on Stage is funny and entertaining, and the bonus items packaged with the disc are cute. The additional special items from Animate are great as well, although I'd imagine those are sold out by now. However, please keep in mind that the Blu-ray and DVD are not subtitled, so you'll miss out on a lot if you don't understand Japanese (although the voice actors' antics are still fun to watch), so it's up to you to decide if that's worth it. The Blu-ray and the DVD are both still available on Amazon.co.jp (NOTE: the DVD is Region 2 only!), however Avex Pictures has placed a restriction on their CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays being shipped outside of Japan. Unfortunately, this means that Amazon.co.jp will no longer ship those items overseas, so if you don’t live in Japan you’ll have to either buy it from a source that’s not affected by the restriction, or get a shopping deputy to help you with the purchase.
Thanks for reading, everyone. I have other official Yuri!!! on Ice merchandise that I’ll be reviewing, so keep checking my blog for new stuff!

“The Voicenotes Tour” will celebrate Puth’s hugely anticipated new album, “VOICENOTES,” due next year from Atlantic Records – pre-orders are available now HERE. The album is preceded by the current smash single, “How Long,” available now at all DSPs and streaming services HERE. Now with close to 300 million streams worldwide, the single has proven yet another popular favorite both here and abroad, reaching #1 on innumerable iTunes “Global Singles” charts and Mexico’s “Ingles Airplay” while earning both gold certification in Australia and silver certification in the United Kingdom. Named by Vanity Fair as one of “The 17 Best Pop Songs of 2017,” “How Long” is joined by an even more popular companion visual, currently boasting over 160 million views via YouTube alone – HERE
“The Voicenotes Tour” special guest and Republic Records recording artist Hailee Steinfeld has quickly cemented herself as a rising force in pop music with a series of hits under her belt, including her 2015 platinum certified debut single “Love Myself,” double platinum selling smash “Starving” with Grey [feat. Zedd] and platinum selling summer anthem “Most Girls.” To date, the multi-platinum selling artist has amassed a total of nearly 2 billion streams globally. This year, Steinfeld won “Best Push Artist” at the MTV EMAs, Musical.ly‘s “Top Covered Artist” award at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards and was honored by Variety with the “Crossover Artist” award at their inaugural Hitmakers event. She also garnered three Teen Choice Award nominations for her work in both film and music. Most recently, Steinfeld released her new single “Let Me Go.” Produced by Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Alesso and critically-acclaimed producer, songwriter and artist watt, “Let Me Go” pairs Steinfeld with one of country music’s best-selling acts, Florida Georgia Line. Performed for the first time ever on this year’s American Music Awards, the song has amassed 150 million streams on Spotify where it is currently Top 20 on their Global Top 50 chart and climbing.
Puth marked the release of “How Long” with high-profile TV performances on CBS’ The Late Late Show With James Corden (watch HERE) and ABC’s Good Morning America (watch HERE), soon to be followed by an eagerly anticipated performance on tomorrow night’s season finale of NBC’s The Voice. He’ll then perform both “How Long” and “Attention” on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2018, to be broadcast live on ABC on December 31st (check local listings). In addition, Puth will perform “How Long” on upcoming episodes of the nationally syndicated Ellen DeGeneres Show and CBS’ The Talk, both set to air in early January.
“How Long” arrived hot on the heels of Puth’s summer’s blockbuster, “Attention,” available at all DSPs and streaming services HERE. The RIAA platinum certified single – which marked Puth’s first new music since 2016’s RIAA platinum certified debut album, “NINE TRACK MIND” – reached #5 on Billboard‘s “Hot 100,” his third consecutive top 10 hit and highest charting solo track to date. What’s more, “Attention” topped the multi-format “Radio Songs” chart for four straight weeks while also ascending to the #1 spot on Billboard’s “Dance Mix Show Airplay” tally – Puth’s first time atop that chart as a solo artist. “Attention” also proved an international favorite, reaching #1 in such far-flung lands as Russia, Venezuela, Ukraine, Israel, Latvia, and Mexico, while earning diamond certification in France, 3x platinum in Australiaand Italy, 2x platinum in Spain, and platinum in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Of course, the “Attention” companion visual – directed by Emil Nava (Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris Feat. Rihanna) – proved yet another record-shattering video sensation for Puth, now with over 638 million YouTube views and counting – HERE.
Hailed around the world as an energetic and electrifying live performer, Puth has spent much of the early winter stealing the show on the just-concluded iHeartRadio Jingle Ball tour. Puth received ecstatic notices for his show-stopping performances on the annual multi-artist holiday trek, with Pennsylvania’s The Morning Call enthusing, “(Puth) condensed his best material into an offering that showed just how good he is, and the growth he’s undergoing…’Attention,’ which has more of an R&B groove than his previous hits, shows he is moving from a Billy Joel-piano-rocker to more of a Timberlake vibe… ‘One Call Away’ had the whole crowd singing – because it’s good and catchy… And, of course, his closing song ‘See You Again,’ his 9x platinum hit from 2015, will be Puth’s forever can’t-miss song. Its opening still brings chills, and its choral ending still has power.” Puth “put across genuine charm and daffy enthusiasm,” raved the Los Angeles Times while Billboard applauded his “surprisingly raw performance” of hits including “Attention” and “See You Again.” “The piano-playing crooner Charlie Puth provided a few more plot twists,” declared the New York Times, “his songs refused the blandishments of an ex who only wanted ‘Attention’ and tried desperately to apologize for straying in ‘How Long.'”
Along with his worldwide popularity, Puth is among the most honored new artists in recent memory, among his many accolades a Teen Choice Award, two Billboard Music Awards, a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award, and myriad nominations including a GRAMMY® nod for “Song of the Year” and a prestigious Golden Globe nomination for “Best Original Song.”
A gifted and charismatic live performer, Puth has proven a hugely popular concert attraction, with 2016’s “Nine Track Mind Tour” selling out nearly every date within 30 minutes of its announcement. As if that weren’t enough, Puth has made any number of show-stopping TV appearances, including FOX’s 2016 Teen Choice Awards, NBC’s TODAY and The Voice, CBS’ The Late Late Show with James Corden, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and 2015 American Music Awards, and both the nationally syndicated Ellen DeGeneres Show and LIVE with Kelly and Michael, not to mention a guest cameo on CBS’ highly rated Life In Pieces.

Text
"that is literally what most hook-ups look like, silv. it could easily have just been….that to him." though he did know that it wasn't. after all, it was an entirely new experience for ewan, the thought of that alone had his heart thumping wildly against his ribcage, and a smile blossoming against his mouth. he knew full well that she was the ideal person to confront with his feelings, aware that she'd been in a similiar position. full of feelings for somebody, who now just so happened to be her fiance. "yes. right." nodding to fully exaggerate his agreement, in a daze over the whole thing. "he's so beautiful; inside, outside, all the way around. fucking..." cue the chefs kiss, and he's a total goner; he knew it before, he's sure of it now.
grinning, silver reaches out to poke the tip of his nose, shrugging softly. "s'not a bad thing. outside of my family, i only have two. okay, three, mercy means the world to me." her head tilts, a soft look of confusion written all over her face. "okay, so you spent, like, an entire evening talking before going home together and now you're worried you're going to annoy him? babe." silver shifts to cradle his face, leaning forward to press a kiss to his forehead. she pulls away with a beam and just listening to him talk about this makes her heart race. she's always found something so fond in listening to her friends and family talk about their emotions and loving feelings like this. it had made her long for when she would get that herself and now, now she was lucky enough to have it. "yeah, exciting makes sense. feels the same as like, if you went on a hike or moved states or countries or something. and it's like, when you get that realisation of 'oh fuck, he's thinking about me enough to text me out of the blue!' it makes you feel so good, right down in your belly. all those butterflies starting to swarm and make you a little dizzy with it. right?"
