As seen last week, Monculus kicked Whiz-Bang's sorry little ass, so here is the next battle!!! (Down below!)

Back when the Monster World was new, the Colossals pioneered a special process called Life-Formula: the imbuement of vitalizing energies into sculptures of fantastical creatures, plucked right from giant spirits' imaginations. In this way would the nascent reality be populated, and the Monculus was among the very first prototype Singing Monsters awakened by the so-called 'spark of life'. Fashioned from Bubblerite, the versatile building material favored most by the Colossals, its moving parts are manipulated by the rare plasmic form of Krystillium, the first-ever Crystal to be created. Initially pocket-sized, it can grow to imposing heights to sputter out its hauntingly beautiful refrain.

If you hear the cheerful gobbley-gobbley-goo of the gobbley Gobbleygourd, prepare your tummy: you're about to feel stuffed! This overzealous Monster was so thrilled to find new friends moving in to Fire Haven that it seized the opportunity to finally kickstart the Seasonal Event of its dreams: Feast-Ember, a time for sharing in nature's delectable bounty. From Smunkin Pie to savory Turkey, crunchy Big Salad to toasty Bread, Gobbleygourd will see to it that you sample a healthy bite of each dish. Much like an excitable relation who's always coming up with new holiday traditions, the Gobbleygourd might seem a bit... intense in its Feast-Ember celebrations - but you can't help but play along!

Artist’s notes:

I like to picture the seasonals less as monsters that simply exist amongst the others, but as more mythological figures linked to their seasonal event. This depiction would have been made by someone living on Fire Haven.

I looked up a lot of medieval art as inspiration for the style.

I like treating the islands as someting close to Earth's countries in my own version of the lore. The flag that Gobbleygourd holds in this image is the flag of Fire Haven (who could've guessed)

In it's other talon it holds a fire bush. Now this funky lookin' plant's in-game description is, in my honest opinion, stupid, so I want to do something new with it. I imagine that fire bushes are adapted to grow in extremely high temperatures, and therefore can be found growing in paticularly hot regions of Fire Haven. It's a very culturally important plant there, being a staple of the island's diet. When eaten raw, it's mind-bogglingly spicy, but chefs have learned how to process this and reduce it from mouth explodes spicy, to normal very spicy.

You might notice something strange about the Monstrous text, and that's because it's not the normal Monstrous languege seen in-game. This is my conlang, where I've been making Monstrous into a 'proper' languege seperate from English. Now, I also believe different regions of the Torus would have different langueges (feels more realistic to me), so ideally, this text would be in Firish, rather than Natural Monstrous... but I haven't conlanged that one yet.

uh, I don’t think I’ll be able to finish that feastember thingie I was talking abt for the hoo-man au, with where it’s at right now, and thanks giving being around the corner, it’s not gonna be finished on time

the idea for it was galvana, scaratar, and attmoz (because I head canon them as siblings) getting together with their partners and childrens, and having fun on feastember. Mainly with humbug and earth (wubbox) doing crazy little stuff, and the adults talking about stuff while all of that is going on. it would be cute, but my lazy ass could never finish it, 😭. I might make some little art for it.
