Thoughts on FE Castlebury?

I haven’t thought about him in years.

BUT…

Years ago F.E. Castleberry used to photograph preppy street style in places like New York City, Palm Beach, and Dallas and it was great. Then he drank a little too much of the Wes Anderson Kool-aid. He started shilling for sponsorships from companies and then he pivoted everything he did by deciding to start making suiting. I know what you’re thinking, what does a photographer know about tailoring and suit construction? I do not have an answer for you on that one, but I do have a good story.

Once I saw him at the New York City Public Library while I was working on some things. I noticed him because he was tapping his foot loudly in a completely silent reading room. I put headphones in to block out the sound, taking a different tack, a lady went up to him and told him to shut the fuck up and stop making noise. His face was priceless.
