THIS! While I understand that there are copyright issues with fanfiction, to see that these so-called "professional writers" are completely fcking over a large franchise like this, it's clear that we should start questioning anyone who does not have fanfiction experience or anyone who looks down at fanfic writers.

while i have watched wonderful shows that are written by those who are non-fanfic writers, it is clear the writing prowess who have experience in fanfiction should not be underestimated. fanfiction is not just a series of smutty fics online. it's training you to write beyond just sentence level. it also trains you to write compelling character arcs. just look at Star Wars', "The Acolyte"! the screenwriter used to write Star Wars fanfiction! And everyone is raving about it on Tiktok! also, as a bit of a fun fact, writing fanfiction can start writing careers for you. for example, Hazel McBride on Tiktok. her aemond-targaryen-inspired fanfic went viral on AO3 and she now has a 6-figure book deal!

anyways, raving aside, i think it is time for Hollywood and novelists to start taking fanfic writers seriously now, especially when they are taking over large franchises like HOTD. and, honestly, at this stage, i have lost my trust in anyone who does not have fanfic writing experience.

I agree with you! Fanfic isn't always about smut, there have been many fics I've read that outdid the original show itself and it was absolutely mind blowing.

Any writing experience is still a writing experience.

And fanfic writers are still writers ! They just come up with a plot that involves already existing characters, there are many fics I've read on my time here on tumblr that will borderline pass as good stories if they didn't have already existing characters, that's how talented the writers over here are.

Let me give you a few examples:

"Our last summer" & "Down in flames" by @sapphire-writes

"Behind the scenes" & "Could you pretend to be in love" by @neptuneiris

But yes, the point is that fanfic writers are indeed valid and are true writers, they have creativity and the ability to take the source material and turn it into an absolute masterpiece. They should start taking fanfic writers seriously.

Currently 3:00 in the fcking morning where I live so here’s a Scout inspired poem I made for him for the sake of angst-

「Invasive Changes」

Insufferable as a child,

The meekness of this being makes me easy to be supplanted.

This mouth, annoying as a moth,

Your insults sprout thorns in my lungs until the spikes puncture the organs.

I desire to be bigger, despite my stature.

Yet I am just a bunny surrounded by foxes, no one to resonate with.

All of which degrade me with a variety of titles.

I’ve grown numb to such,

Despite the internal flower of insignificance blooming within me.

The taste of the drool spat onto my face is acidic.

I could never be worth the effort for anyone.

There, I wander and carelessly ramble about.

Trying to alter and cut down this body to be the desired man everyone wants.

My veins begin to burst, blood pouring from where teal lines were.

The thorns drive out of my skin, peeling back the layers while I cry.

Yet you don’t seem to hear me.

You could only see the “masterpiece” I killed myself to be.

While my corpse rots to mold on the flip side,

A beautiful melody of purple chrysanthemums feed off the indignation I held against myself.

A mere shell of this Scout was left for dead.

Now I only hope the smell doesn’t drive me away from you again.

I've been having the biggest, massive Yuki Kajiura & Projects brainrot - to be honest, I'm always in a YukiKaj brainrot, it comes and goes, but she and the singers and the band always remains a major favorite of mine for very obvious reasons, really. This is Kalafina (sadly now disbanded). This freaking masterpiece keeps being banned from YT so I decided to upload it here cause it's one I just keep watching over and over again for real.

It's the harmonies, the coreography

YukiKaj didn't perform with Kalafina, she does perform with FictionJunction (her other main deal), so she isnt in the video, the girls are her singers Hikaru, Keiko and Wakana respectively - no one can convince me they are not etereal beings; this performance is from the Kalafina Arena Live 2016. ok, so I've been reading a manhwa (mother's contract marriage) and.

its been making me feel things (emotional vulnerability), so i rlly wanted to share my thoughts abt it :D

SO the art is absolutely STUNNING ok, i need to repeat stunning.

and the story? (has made me tear up multiple times)

like lyrica (main character) is SO precious i literally ADORE her. but not only is she adorable, she is also such a tragic (and relateable) character.

!SPOILER WARNING!

like, she lives in the slums with her mother, who is also an alcoholic, and is also just a bad mother. and she works day and night to afford rent and food, she loves her (very negligent) mother with her whole being. her whole life basically revolves around her. and its just so fcking sad. her mother doesn't give a flying fck abt her, but she loves her SO fcking much. like, i don't usually enjoy rlly tragic characters, who've had "such a hard life". but, lyrica is just so fcking relatable

the whole concept is that her mother is a regressor, and she basically rlly regrets everything that she did to her daughter, and wants to turn her life around for her sake, but the story is told from lyrica's POV. its such a fun and unique concept, and has a pretty good execution, though I've heard that the novel was rlly cliché and kinda bad. BUT, the manhwa adaptation? absolute masterpiece.

not only is the art absolutely beautiful and stunning, the artist portrays emotions in a way I've never seen before. like, it genuinely made me feel things, it made me feel like i was there, and experiencing it in real time.

in chapter 3, lyrica's mom steals her life savings so she can go to the imperial ball. lyrica wakes up, alone and with her savings literally stolen by the person she trusts most. she feels so alone and betrayed, she thought her mother was someone she could trust. the way the artist portrays lyrica's feelings of betrayal and hurt, honestly (maybe its bc im not rlly in the best headspace rn) brought me to tears.

the mom has a rlly good redemption arc tho. we only get to see her pov a couple times, but it felt like i could actually understand her, yk?

like, i feel so fcking bad for her bro. you can see her trying to change for the better. for the sake of her daughter, she is willing to change, to be a better mother (and a person in general). like, i feel like i can genuinely sympathize with her. she has a lot of flaws, but thats what makes her such a well written character.

the way the artist decided to adapt the novel is THE correct way to adapt it.

My New Year’s resolution I wanted to share:

Expanding my CD’s collection or even going back to burning 💿

I’ve made a deal with my bf that every month we’re going to buy CD record one for each of us.

So here are our picks the left side is mine and right side is his

I’m a fan of New Order and I wish that where I went they had “Low-Life” album instead of “Substance” because I prefer it more and the song “Elegia” is an absolute instrumental masterpiece. Substance is fine, I just was in mood for New Order so I bought it.

Second CD is kinda fun because I love x-files and I found this one on vinted, it was cheap and not in a very good condition but the cover just bought me.

I discovered that the graphic on cover is a part of bigger picture and I LOVE!!! when CDs have that! It always surprises me positively. The same situation I had with the album “Ten” from Pearl Jam, I used this paper cover as a poster in my room when I was teenager 👨🏻‍🦳

My boyfriend’s picks are also good, I never was into Tool but he wanted to show me this album and about Blade Runner soundtrack I don’t need to write a lot because it’s good. d-_-b

I need to check out for some fun places where I can get CDs stationary like small record store or sth because going to shopping mall is literally burning my brain cells (and eyes, why tf the lights are so bright there)

I also ended my Spotify subscription because of switching to mp3, I’m still having Spotify tho because my friends from university have Airbuds and I like checking what they are listening or show them what I listen in the fcking middle of the night
