Hi @choicesbookclub! Here's my Marguerite.

Do you have a Marguerite FC? Why did you choose them?

I chose Shanina Shaik as Marguerite's FC. I thought she looked so much like the sprite with those gorgeous eyes. She's a model with amazing style pics, which was perfect for our fashion icon, Miss Marguerite. But I was really sold when I found the picture of her wearing a tiara.👑

Do you have any HCs for Marguerite and your detective?

I think Marguerite and Cameron clicked instantly and became fast friends. Marguerite is a good judge of character. She immediately saw that Cam was someone who was caring and trustworthy. She also saw the connection between Cameron and Trystan. It didn't escape her that Trystan was different when he was around Cameron, he was more his authentic self and genuinely happy. And Marguerite definitely noticed that Cam had caught feelings that night at the hospital. She supported the match 100% but worried it wouldn't last if Trystan returned home to Drakovia.

Do you have any HCs for Marguerite and your Trystan growing up and/or in NYC?

I think Trystan has a huge heart. Growing up, he caught on to how others in the palace treated Marguerite as a second-class citizen. But he always had her back and stood up for her when others wouldn't. Anytime things got difficult, he'd find some sneaky trouble for them to get into to lighten the mood. Like raiding the palace kitchen, spying on people by way of secret passages, or sneaking out late at night to walk around town like "normal" people. Marguerite was quick to return the favor when it was Trystan who everyone suddenly despised.

Any Marguerite specific headcanons?

Not so much. I kind of want to wait and see if anything is revealed in the sequel. But with that said, I would love to learn more about Marguerite's relationship with the King and Queen, and learn more about her birth mother.

The Shafiqs always married young, with Pranavi’s marriage at seventeen years of age proving no different. They were married to a reputable spouse and given no option for discussing the matter despite the man being old enough to be Pranavi’s grandfather. Tragedy stuck six months into being married, with Pranavi frantically flooing for a healer. The husband didn’t wake up after a night spent trying for an heir and Pranavi voiced concerns about the attempt being too much for the poor soul’s heart. Being widowed, playing dumb, and perfected crocodile tears kept all suspicions off Pranavi.

There was one little problem with the marriage that followed after. That spouse died and left Pranavi with a lavish manor and more money than they knew what to do with. Pranavi was not in a rush to marry again after that, but Harlan Zabini proved convincing. The two courted and wed when Pranavi turned twenty-seven. Their relationship would have followed a similar path to the other two if it weren’t for Pranavi discovering they were pregnant too late to be able to do something about it. Single parent and widowed for the third time was not a look Pranavi would immediately take, leaving them acknowledging there is simply a matter of time before a tragedy befalls the family.

Pranavi has taken parenthood in stride, doting on Blaise and ignoring their spouse’s suggestions that another child would make a great addition to the family. While Pranavi is not in a rush to no longer be wed, they hope Walden or Reine can help make sure their spouse isn’t alive long enough to conceive another child.

Alaya was born of her mother, the Queen of Pakistan, but unfortunately, not the King of the same. She’s the product of a one night stand with the Lithuanian King. A fact her father was well aware of and made sure she knew too. When she was younger she couldn’t understand why her father didn’t show her the same love and attention her younger sibling got. Why that man she knew as her father was constantly judgmental, belittling, and downright bullied her at times. Even when she tried harder, and she did every day, to be smarter and prettier and perfect, he never saw her as enough.

When she was around 12, a drunk father and some snooping finally got her the truth. She wasn’t his blood and she’d never get the crown to his country. She was never sure if her biological father knew she was his, but he never reached out. So, in a moment of weakness and desperation for affection, she did. To his children. It wasn’t quite the welcoming she’d been expecting, not that she could blame them for that. They had their family, and like it or not, she had hers.

After that, she resigned to her position. Her father, always looking down on her, and Alaya working constantly to portray the picture of the perfect princess. Finally, when 18 rolled around, her father, over three days of a massive blow out between the two, made it clear she was going to abdicate. Alaya didn’t have a choice, it was either that or being disowned. Not wanting to lose the reputation she so carefully crafted or the small amount of power she had, Alaya yielded to the cruel man. Noting that, as she delivered her formal public speech, his eyes were glued to her with the faintest of smirks on his lips. He’d won the war, he thought.

Unfortunately for him, knowing her true parentage was a secret that could tear her father’s reputation to shreds and, potentially, get the entire family dethroned. So, over the years, she used her knowledge to fight him back. Their relationship only seemed to degrade in their years following. There were smiles and hugs for the cameras, but behind closed doors they were cold and avoided each other as much as they could. When he wanted something from her, he’d threaten disowning. When she wanted, she threatened going to the press. Their relationship was based on manipulation and distrust.

The only thing that ever seemed to go right in her life, was when Damerae walked into it. Their countries were negotiating an alliance, and playing the perfect host, her father had invited the royal family to visit. The attraction to Dae had been almost instant, though she did her best to keep him at arm’s length. He made it hard though. He’d been the kindest man she’d ever met, and after some cheese flirting and him literally sweeping her off her feet, she’d fallen in love with him. Damerae treated her with more dignity and affection than any man in her life ever had, and it didn’t take long before she could see herself marrying him.

After a particularly nasty fight with her father though, her old desires spiked back up, and she simply couldn’t stand the thought of the king winning. Alaya was going to be a Queen, it was her birthright. In her blood. She deserved it. So, after a few drinks she picked a fight, she knew Dae couldn’t win. Even if she wanted to, she wouldn’t let him. It had been an ordeal and took every ounce of poised control she’d developed over her life to not break in front of him. He was a spare though, and she couldn’t be queen with him. It’s what she reminded herself while she cried herself to sleep that night and in the weeks following.

Of course, there was still an alliance in place, and he couldn’t just be gone from her life. Or, at least, his family couldn’t. She did her best to keep up appearances, but avoided them all as best she could. And then, one day, the unspeakable happened, and his older brother succumbed to his illness. Alaya’s heart broke for Damerae and his family, but a hundred thrown out drafts ended in a letter that said “Our condolences for your loss” .

That was almost a year ago now, and slowly his memories had faded. Instead of every moment, she just thought about him every other hour. The a couple times a day. Then a few times a week. The pain persisted, but like every other time, she just buried it. Finally working up to and convincing her father for a betrothal. Pulling out all the stops, she ensured he betrothed her to a crown. If nothing else in life, she’d have that. He saw fit though, to give her the crown with the worst reputation and on the other side of the world before shipping her straight off to be with the rest of the royalty in Thailand.
