“I found a dog skull
in the woods
it was the skull of a dog
not some coyote or wolf or fox—
this i’m certain of
it had man’s touch pressed into
it’s shortened snout
and loyalty smoothed
into it’s rounder shape
i wondered about the dog it was
before it was just a skull in the woods
before teeth marks made their jagged tattoos
in the crest of eye sockets
i stared at it’s moss-covered form
centered in a clearing
almost slightly on its side
and thanked the forest for giving it a funeral
and the moss for making it feel not alone
and the pine needles for giving it a soft bed
and the birds for singing to it
day after day
and i thanked the sun for kissing it’s bones
for no dog
dead or alive
should feel cold
so i lifted him from the ground
gentle
and i promised the forest i’d take
good care of him
and i brought him home
and i picked the vines off him
and shooed the bugs away
and took great care to scrub the dirt off
soft and slow
‘You’ve done a great job,’
I tell them
‘But i’ve got him, now.
You’ve done a good job
but it’s my turn to watch him
now.’
and i promised to love him
to continue to
a sacred vow.”
A/N: an ode to dogs, loyalty, and bones in the woods.

Next two of Henry VIII's wives: Jane Seymour and Anne of Cleves!
Putting a little explanation for these designs under the break:
Both of these women were painted by Hans Holbien, and their portraits by that artist played a pretty vital role in how I wanted to depict these women. For Jane, I decided to stick as close as I could, because I think Jane gets the most artistic interpretation than any of the other wives. She's a blank slate to a lot of directors in Tudor adaptations. This is brought on by the very scant records we have of what she was really like in life. We do know she loved quail while she was pregnant, and encouraged Henry to treat his daughter Mary better, which ultimately ended in her being welcomed back at court. Her family has kept samples of her embroidery through history, so it's fun to imagine her working on something in between breaks for her portrait.
For Anne, I went the complete opposite. Her Holbien portrait is extremely famous, but I feel like it creates the misconception that Anne never changed during the rest of her life in England. The portrait also has been used to cast doubts on her appearance (and whether or not her looks are exagerrated). In reality, Anne was dressed in typical English court digs when she arrived in England, and was noted to be very pretty. It wasn't until after Henry cast doubts on her appearrance, and even her chastity, in order to get out of the marriage as quickly as possible. I wanted to give these back to her, as white symbolised purity and chastity in this period. Anne lived a good life as Henry's sister, and outlived all the other of Henry's wives. She was known for being kind to her staff, and loving to pair cards with a good drink.

I got fed up always see female characters being pushed to the side in fics to focus on the male characters
And my ladies need love to! So have this book I made because of that reason and out of spite
Also, I did the math, 78% of ship fics in hermitcraft are MLM, further more, when you exclude F/M and M/M and only include F/F only 41% of the total WLW ship category remains
And 65% of all shipping fics in empire are MLM, exclud mlm and flm and only 56% of the total WLW ship catory remains
How interesting!
In all seriousness, I DO get it, I mean, 95% of the members of both smps are male. But I also know the other reason there's more fics focused on male characters and ships rather than female characters and ships.
And why even when the female ship is tagged, they get side lined and put in the background in favor of the male ship
