it just hit me that the movie is coming out next month imgonna throw upppppppp

#to be clear this isnt an excited post this is a scared post .#i feel kinda guilty about it with how excited i was about the first 2 movies #but i just cant be anymore paramount and the scu have disappointed me so much within the past year in so many ways ......#shadow is one of my favorite characters his lore makes me go crazy and is one of the things that pulled me into loving sonic so much #but i literally felt nothing while watching that trailer aside from confusion at some of the writing choices being made #like i wasnt expecting an exact recreation of sa2 but why is sonic working with gun . wtf is gerald doing here . why are there no girls .#the only positives to me were things that were cool visually . which doesnt outweigh all the things that have annoyed/disappointed me #like who cares about another cool sonic and shadow fight scene we already have plenty of those .#Anyway. saw some of those new promotional images.#i swear to god if they actually start calling shadow+eggman+gerald team dark #like they suggested they might in that survey from a while back #im gonna become the joker for real #(insert the NO that is NOT solid snake image but it says team dark instead)#also maybe im taking the hedgehog games way too seriously here #but having gerald still be alive and present in some form feels like such a bad idea from a story perspective ... like .#for one shadow lost Everything in the gun raid having gerald still be here feels like its undermining that in a way #but also gerald's whole thing in sa2 is being long dead but still impacting the story despite that . why is he ALIVEEEE #and why is he here over rouge ???? do they just hate women or something #(before someone goes ''it would take too much time/money to animate another cgi character''#maybe the movies should have just been fully animated if that sort of thing was a concern . just saying)

really appreciating kenjaku this season. physics defying hair, a thirst for all experimental sorcery and science, constantly looking like a cat that’s about to smugly knock over a glass

#in one of my first posts here I talk about it but #s1 ‘geto’ was my least favorite when I started the show. then I read the manga and loved both geto and kenjaku #but I remember thinking they were very boring 😭 except for the scene where they stuck out their tongue #but I love the expressions and voice acting this season #just in general I think the characters benefited from the focus on character expressions/acting #but geto and kenjaku REALLY did #same with choso #I was on the fence about this style when the first trailers dropped but I’m completely w it now #I also just like style even over consistency. still love the s1 colors + ‘gross’ palettes + fighting #but yea this is great and it kind of needed all this for what’s to come #and it’s wild that every week an ep drops there’s ALWAYS hordes of people complaining about ghosting or angles or ehatever

i know that jesse armstrong is more than capable of knowing when to end a series but the way it was announced that season 4 is going to be the last one kind of made me feel like the whole process behind it is a bit sketchy. they only revealed that s4 is the last one only a month before the premiere, even after posting teaser trailers that never even hinted at the season being the last, and even the cast got the news only during the table read for the final episode. the promotion of season 4 has been disappointing especially when compared to season three. while the actors are not the ones writing the show, most of them have been very clear that they could have seen the show go on for another season and their disappointment over the show ending has been clear as day. while an ambiguous ending will be a very fitting end to succession and i am not against it, i am definitely wondering if the decision to finish with season 4 was something that developed during the filming process instead of it being a clear guideline throughout the creative process of season 4.

#succession #idk my biggest complaint is not telling the actors. like i get it that it might have impacted their performance but still #it is their job and definitely a big and meaningful project for all of them. and if they got to know only in january or something???#at that point there was already teaser trailers coming out and basically no hints of the season being last. ofc i don't know what goes on #behind the scenes but personally i am a bit annoyed sdjhfdsf #i just keep remembering that one quote from jesse where he said that they're gonna keep going as long as it keeps being fun. huh.#maybe i'm just bitter because my favorite show is ending. but i am not a fan of how this season being last has been handled #but i am glad that at least the reviewers think the season is great and i am incredibly excited to see what happens!!! i just wish the #annoucement had given everyone more time to come to terms with the ending #also this has been bothering me for weeks now and i wanted to get this out of my system before the premiere. please enjoy

as this is a clear reference to a scene in the Super Wings: Maximum Speed, this also reminds me of how I envision the Super Wings entering the battlefield against Ringmaster Layla, who is unleashing a powerful spell I will currently refer as the "Grand Tragedy" (name's probably not gonna be used in the story of TW itself cause this is just a personal name for me to remember the spell she casts all over Earth that puts everyone to sleep and experience their greatest nightmare)

Lance, donning his Kid Wing attire, throws the tip of his sword up in the air to signal the 30+ Super Wings to start blasting off from World Spaceport to go across the world to eliminate traces of Layla's spell. TW is commanding the Teen Troupe on her own cause, for symbolic purposes, Lance was requested by one of the TTs to contact the SW after a long time. It's been a decade he interacted with them, and a lot has changed so it was time Lance got out of his own illusion like TW, who ran to Akumu and Inei's residence after a terrible argument with Lance and a brief resignation from TT; will explain that in Part 5 of the TW lore but before I forget as I typed this: Lance is reminded of his impact on the world, inspiring many like his assistant director who saved the SW from the Pavere Carnival's wrath. He then breaks down in front of the SW, who comfort and thank him for not only his troupe's debut, but his contributions as a Legendary.

Anyways, got sidetracked from that future emotional moment: the Teen Troupe and Super Wings are working together until one of the members of the latter group fell unconscious. Layla's spell is gaining the upper hand, and the fight becomes a frantic escape as more members of the SW and TT fall to the ground and sleep, entering the psychological underworld of Layla's sick spell.

#troupe talk #yeah i'm actually loving this season so far: probably next to S2 as my other favorite: idk man S8 is making me cook ideas for TW especially #the SWs' lasting impact on the LSW #and the fact that Rakumo. a non-electric plane who is basically a ninja. can still take on the Electric Heroes singlehandedly.#on the other hand Layla is basically Madame Grape since i saw the entirety of Peach Showtime #i could write a whole essay on how the SW influenced Lance's life even after his resignation; TW being told at Akumu's residence that her--#dad loves her for what she's doing for the world (like the original KW) and Lance being told at World Spaceport that his daughter also--#loves the plane who inspired her to help others across the world. OUUUUUGH REALLY want to get to that moment one day :']#the S8 trailers made me pour this mess from my brain out

Y8 Thoughts I Guess 🤔

I keep pacing the kitchen while repeating the same things in my head over and over again so here is my thought vomit. Long vent post incoming

• Really concerned about how likely it is that we’ll only see the Jimas interact with Kiryu one or two times in a similar manner to 6. It’ll feel even worse this time for me considering Kiryu has cancer. It’ll also be a grievance for me given something I’ve complained about a lot. How weird they are about Kiryu and Majima’s relationship. It feels like ever since the ending of 3, they haven’t allowed them much of any interaction while simultaneously making a point that they’re close to each other even with the distance and it throws me for a loop every time. It’s made even more frustrating that their social medias have no problem posting about them (especially from Majima’s angle) as though they’re an actual ship. Plus, recently sharing blatant Kazumaji art on stream. If they keep doing that after this game I’m going to catapult myself to the sun. Obviously, I never expected the ship to actually happen. All I want is for their bizzaro relationship to have some sort of proper conclusion, but I have zero hope of that. It just makes no sense to keep making them out to be besties of some sort and then not allowing any follow through on that. Hell, they were weird in Ishin, too. It’s just SUCH a strange thing to do so often.

•At this point, it feels like the Jimas are only together because no one knows what else to do with them so they just end up together for years and years. My issue here is that it puts all of them on the back burner even though there’s still stuff missing about them. Like the biggest one being that we never get to see the real Daigo. They tell us about him a lot, but we never get to see him. RGGO of course bridges this gap. It’s just disappointing to know that’ll only ever exist there.

•If Mine is back (Yokoyama talked like the only thing stopping him from that was his voice actor), would he interact with Daigo? He was such a core part of his character, and it’d be interesting if they did see each other again. I would of course like it if Mine got to tell Daigo that he loved him straight to his face even though I’m more than certain they’d never do that.

•The Ichiban and Saeko proposal and all that still has me on edge. I do N O T know what all that’s about. Yokoyama claimed the game isn’t romantic, but he’s been on a kick lately with saying one thing and the exact opposite happening so I’m feeling pretty hesitant to believe him. I admittedly have a very hard time with media that contains a prominent pairing that I do not care about, but the plot keeps pushing in my face. Like with the second Kiryu saga game. To expand on Ichiban and Saeko, I mean that in 7, there’s nothing to show they have anything romantically going on despite the player’s ability to choose to date her or any other lady. I made sure to date nobody in my playthrough since I don’t care about that kind of stuff personally. They do, however, keep teasing Saeko and Nanba in a subtle way that really surprised me. I did find it interesting since visually they’re a really unexpected pairing and a possible romance that doesn’t involve the lead character seems pretty rare. RGG also typically isn’t that good at writing romantic notes so it was another surprise for me. All in all, this is just a personal issue I have pretty often with romance in media.

I know the game is still months away, and I’m not jumping to any conclusions. Just voicing a few concerns and one thing that’s sort of me hoping for something. It’s going to be a long wait to have all my questions answered 💀

#yakuza #ryu ga gotoku #like am I crazy for thinking Kiryu should interact just a little bit more with characters from his old saga #it’s also a frustrating ordeal that Majima gets crazy merch and Ugaki is around a lot #but then Majima’s appearances deminish so much it starts to feel like fan service when he does appear #im not asking for him to have a major big time role or anything like some people want #i might be a shipper but romantic media might be my least favorite thing ever #I don’t know if I missed something in the trailer or what but im still so cautious about that element in 8 #anyway I was also feeling hesitant about sharing this and will probably delete it later #just wanted to share a few of my thoughts #nothing to say about Gaiden #oh my god typing on mobile for too long is a disaster #the keyboard lags and disappears #repeatedly after a certain amount of time #this shit sucks #also I’m always hesitant to share ‘hot takes’ and the sort given the type of behavior I’ve received before in fandoms #these aren’t even remotely hot takes and just general thoughts but sometimes life makes you shut up

#ghosts howling #Journey and abzu were already phenomenal but i think he really knocked it out of the park with the pathless #Im extremely excited for his work on sword of the sea. I really like how the little bit we heard from the reveal trailer seems to call back #To the former two games sound wise. Especially since it seems to be so visually inspired by both #Anyway back to the pathless. The dynamic soundtrack is such a wonderful thing. In his soundtrack commentary video on yt he mentioned #that the spotify versions of all the themes are all bits and pieces of the dynamic soundtrack glued together. And they STILL sound wonderfu #It hurts that my favorite part of the mountain tundra ost isnt on the spotify version though #Anyway. Nerding over for now hopefully #HIGHLY recommend listening to any of these soundtracks. But especially the pathless

i finished troilus and cressida today and no wonder they call it a problem play. honestly what was that

#tales from diana #text post #shakespeare #troilus and cressida #i wont say i didnt like it or i was disappointed #but that was really quite strange and i dont know what to make of a lot of it #and ive read several of the problem plays before in fact a lot of them are my favorites. the winter's tale/all's well/etc.#t&c was very strange. it was like it wasn't even written by shakespeare. it doesnt bear a resemblance in character and plot style #the writing is certainly shakespeare and in that it is beautiful. beautiful.#the characters are very very opaque though. that's a word i found someone use when explaining why it's one of the more difficult plays #yeah they do not have a lot of internality. theyre honestly kind of flat? at least to read.#im sure it's different in performance. i watched the trailer for the 2019 rsc production and THAT looked great #shakespeare is normally so good at lending depth to even the most minor of characters #whereas the motivations for a lot of the t&c cast are either very simple or somewhat unclear. or both.#it's a play i'd not recommend for the plot #but as i do have this broader goal of finishing shakespeare's complete extant plays in my 20s. yeah that's one more down #that was number 23 of 38. i have 15 more to go.#at this point there aren't a lot of well-known or famous ones i still haven't read #by far the most famous one i still haven't read is othello. which might be scandalous to admit #and twelfth night and much ado about nothing. and titus andronicus.#im planning on knocking down some of those next but the thing is i already kinda do KNOW those plays #i just havent READ them. in full on my own.#but also i ordered this morning. a book ive been trying to get forever #three tragedies by renaissance women #including elizabeth cary's mariam #jane lumley's translation of iphigenia #and mary sidney's antonie! so i have that to look forward to #as well as. always. a neverending pile of plays i already own. to be read. very exciting #ive read 6 shakespeare plays this year (2023). that's the most i've read since 2018 the year i got the riverside shakespeare.#wonder if i wanna break that record? it's october. i have time to decide.
