Thangamey - Paava Kadhaigal

I can't stop screaming about Paava Kaidhagal enough, and this episode was so emotional. I love this song so much, and it is a beautiful song but I still feel so much pain listening to this. When this starts playing on shuffle, it always a bittersweet feeling.

Of course I was gonna include this. There is no way I was gonna leave this out. It is my baby's song from my fave series. It is special. I still remember not being able to process the song when it came out during episode 11. Like I could not watch the MV after the episode. It was such an emotional attack. I would have also included Just Friend?, but I could not find the rock version the both of them did for OhmNanon1stFM. That version of Just Friend was always be on another level!

3. 不忘 - The Untamed (Wang Yibo)

The whole CQL soundtrack is beautiful. But this is my favourite song from the OST. Yibo's voice is just so beautiful and it goes straight to your heart. He brings out LWJ's emotions so beautifully.

4. รักษา (Healing) - My School President (Gemini, Fourth, Ford, Satang)

MSP is a musical, and all the songs are beautiful! But my absolute faves are Healing and Come Closer. I'm adding an alternate version of Come Closer below instead. The way all their voices mash so soulfully here!! And I love the lyrics.

5. จังหวะตกหลุมรัก X อีกนิด (Magic Moment X Come Closer Mash Up) - Beluca Concert (Tay Tawan, New Thitipoom)

This might be cheating. But I do love Come Closer alot, and I love this mashup version of it so much. So I am linking this. Ford's voice texture is so similar to Tay's. So I love that they did this. I lost my mind when I heard it on the stream.

hello!!! tysm for asking here are my current three favourite songs and i say current bc these literally change every few days

1 - come down soon by lizzy mcalpine, i got called out by airbuds earlier bc appaza my ‘playlist is about as diverse as a one-flavour ice cream shop’…. i’d only listened to it 31 times by that point and they weren’t even all in a row…. there’s variety, i promise!! anyway also this song is deeply bartylily and i’ve been obsessing over it bc i think i wanna use a lyric as the title for one of my wips (library fic anyone?) so that’s number one rn

2 - guilty as sin? by taylor swift, the swoopy bit after the bridge going into the chorus again makes me so so excited every single time i love this song so much…. again it’s another bartylily coded song (as a wise person once said (it was lane, hi baby), a lot of ttpd songs are bc matty & tay were bartylily coded. which. horrible thing to think but unfortunately true), but my mind has also been consumed by thinking of it as andromeda before she runs away, as evidenced by the edit i made lmao

3 - the bolter by taylor swift, it just does something so satisfying to my brain idk, it’s another one that been on repeat also that’s mrs. zabini right there, i think about her everytime i listen to it like the entire bridge… there’s escape in escaping…. yeah makes me a little crazy

wow actually maybe airbuds was right, maybe i do need some variety…. but i will say, these are my faves right this very second and they will undoubtedly change once i get over this specific little obsessive moment, last week it was sabrina carpenter’s espresso and glen campbell’s wichita lineman (a song which nobody but me understands actually that one’s a long time favourite) and who knows what it’ll be next week….

What You Wish For | Guster - okay where my hayden girlies at cus theres a story to this one. I've always loved Guster since I was a baby, theyre my mom's fave. The movie Life As A House (EMO HAYDEN) came out about 4, 4.5 months after I was born. The directer of LaaH is a HUGE Guster fan. Their songs are in all of his movie soundtracks. This, along with the song Rainy Day of the same album (Lost and Gone Forever 1999), were featured in Life as a House. My mom met the director of this movie at a Guster concert when I was unfortunately only like 2 and too young to go. Ok, 1989tv is HERE and, as promised, there are thoughts (and observations). The songs of course slap, but this is about things that are NEW. New observations and red-string thoughts.

RAINBOWS:

Style has rainbow colored rain on the pavement.

Out Of The Woods: “screaming color” flashes rainbow, but so does “oh I remember” before the final chorus

I Wish You Would: rainbows pulsing in circles around the lyrics of its bridge. The light swooshes are white with rainbows. Also the thing is made of blue and pink and purple accents and words (bi colors).

How You Get The Girl: the whole thing. Multicolored and rainbowed up.

There’s a TON of galaxy/celestial imagery. The men’s faces in I Know Places are starry, the moon is everywhere (specifically in the Out Of The Woods video), Wonderland, AYHTDWS, IWYW, and SIO (to a smaller extent). Additionally, there’s a lot of eyes turning into galaxies (Clean, AYHTDWS).

Storms where you wouldn’t expect them: the road in Style and the bridge, and the background in New Romantics.

Out Of The Woods: LOVE the video. I’m down with those wolf and moon t-shirts, and this video is like that brought to life with some paparazzi/media frenzy symbolism. Gorgeous video—one of my faves.

New Romantics: the song itself inspired by the New Romantics movement (itself based on denying you were a part of it), which was known for its gender-fuckery and queer similarities. This video shows the lyrics on an art-deco stage in bisexual lighting—which I’m not saying is a reference to how many queer people are in the entertainment industry and the arts, but it could be.

Say Don’t ago is SOO FUCKING GOOD YOU GUYS. It’s like if Clean and AYHTDWS had a baby.

Now That We Don’t Talk: she “can’t pretend it’s platonic” and kept herself “shrouded in mystery” to “protect [her] dignity.” Sounds very much like closeting. Also, her ex grew out their hair—something men can do, but something Taylor’s exes haven’t really done. And Harry had longer hair while they were dating.

Suburban Legends: filled with high school references, and the very notion of living a suburban is such a small-town, high-school-sweethearts things. Very Dianna coded with the Glee-ness of it all.

Is It Over Now? sounds a little like Labyrinth and OOTW; also, Tay mentions having the “decency” to “keep her nights hidden,” which also sounds very closeting-coded.

Over all:

The sound is fairly faithful to the original, but the guitars sound a little wonky, like too bright and synthy. Less warm and like someone noodling around, and more like an electric guitar someone forgot to plug in. However, I can look past that. I appreciate they kept the synth riffs at the end of the HYGTG chorus, though.

The production on the Vault Tracks sounds much more Midnights than 1989–glossy new production that sounds a little unpolished.

She’s really leaned into an 80s vaporwave aesthetic with some videos—SIO, IWYW, New Romantics.

The visuals are just gorgeous—all these videos with dynamic, high-quality video. And a lot of more obscure/artsy visuals, too.

I love the album (obvs, 1989 is one of my old faves). Some do the vault tracks I wasn’t too keen on, but I’ll have to listen more than once to form a proper opinion.

ooo now this is interesting! i’ve chosen 3 artists that I also love reading into their lyrics — and I think we can all agree that it would be a crime not to include the lyric master herself… taylor swift;)

taylor swift — one of my favourite tay songs I would actually say upon a first listen you would categorise it as one of her ‘simpler’ pieces in terms of complexity, however when you do read the lyrics, I feel like it speaks (pun intended) a lot about taylor’s era at the time! and in honour of speak now (taylor’s version) — it’s ‘mean’! taylor has mastered her craft with creating a good balance between simple lyrics and what she means emotionally, an example being “words like knives” / “voice like nails on a chalkboard” and “all you’re ever gonna be is mean” — it balances those similes and the bluntness of the chorus amazingly, and it’s just so fun to listen to and delve and explore. speak now has always been a special album because she uses her music to communicate not only with us swifties (who love to read into everything), but also the idle gossip that she doesn’t write her own songs — the most girlboss move ever to then release an entirely self wrote album. now that is who taylor is. the special thing with taylor as well, or at least how I interpret the song, although she’s clearly talking about her own experiences, her lyrics don’t alienate the listener, because she knows that we relate. whether it be from bullying or anything else, “all you are is mean” also tells the listener that you are more than them, and your success is entirely up to you, not to the negative & mean people in your life! you are worth everything!

paramore — by also choosing paramore along with taylor, you are absolutely right in assuming that I am not okay after listening to ‘castles crumbling’. but we move! for paramore, I want to talk about ‘thick skull’ from their latest album ‘this is why’, because of the powerful lyrics along with hayley’s vocals and the instruments and just everything. although I’m obviously a massive the 1975 fan, I will admit that I think ‘thick skull’ is the strongest ending compared to recent albums that have been released, and although ‘when we are together’ is a strong end to ‘bfiafl’, I think ‘thick skull’ takes the crown. ‘this is why’ as an entire album has some of the strongest lyrics I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to, so just narrowing this down has been insanely difficult. “I am a magnet for broken pieces” firstly sets up that dire atmosphere along with the low, slow introduction in the music itself. I love music that feels like an experience (clearly from my other analysis’) and this is exactly what the song feels like. it’s simple and effective (my favourite combination). straight off the back of that, “I am attracted to broken people” although reflects the same atmosphere, my reaction has always been relatableeeeeee. finally, the obvious “thick skull never did nothing for me” is so emotional and hard hitting, yet also liberating for hayley herself, stating that they’re ‘self indulgent’ and ‘healing’, making the song an absolutely emotional pleasure to listen to.

the japanese house — my favourite album of the year, ‘in the end it always does’ has produced some seriously genre changing and revolutionary songs. trust me when I say this album is life changing! one of the songs I think is slept on from the album is ‘over there’, next to ‘sunshine baby’ as my favourites. I am currently absolutely obsessed with amber, so I wanted to look at the chorus in particular. like I mentioned previously, songs that feel like an experience are the best, and the masterful layering of the vocals is really what gets me throughout the entire album — it is absolutely beautiful. “where do you wanna go? did you wanna get some air? do you like it over there?” by having the chorus limited to interrogative sentences, it really helps create that isolation and separation that comes from not knowing someone anymore (specifically through a breakup). it starts off almost hopeful and receptive with “where do you wanna go?”, willing, before acknowledging that development through “do you like it over there?” / “over there?” — now completely limited.

hopefully all of that made sense, definitely weird to not be talking about the 1975 but super fun nonetheless! and also thank you very much, shouldn’t be too bad hopefully and gonna savour the time before exams this year and actually kick my butt to revise super early.

stars by the pocketful (which is funny since i hate this song)

unironically “karma is my boyfriend” changed my life for the better in so many ways. it is STILL a top 3 song off midnights. if karma has no fans then i am dead

mastermind is another unbeatable song for me but if i HAVE to choose im going with “i’m only cryptic and machiavellian cause i care” because of the line delivery, the meaning, and yet again, the way it captures Taylor Swift™️ so so well. but yeah the whole song is stacked with incredible lyricism and the storyline is so compelling

the great war has a lot of my favorites not necessarily because of the lyrics but because of her delivery but the one image from it that i really adore is “crimson clover” and also “i drew curtains closed / drank my poison all alone”

there’s a lot more from paris than i expected. “2003 unbearable” honorary mention because that is my birth year. “sit quiet by my side in the shade / and not the kind that’s thrown, i mean the kind under where a tree has grown” is an all time favorite for me. i get so excited to sing along to it and i think it’s hilariously clever word play

watched them, on their real stories, not a series or fanfiction. been so long i lost interest for romantic things. the happiness, sadness, sacrifices, love languages, their ways to keep it personal but me as part of netizen keep digging our curiosity 'bout their life.

back then, before i fell this deep into them, i was like promised to myself to not gonna spend any penny for them. then, this year i spent around 6000 thb to see them again in bangkok.

so, the romance feeling i wanted to share was like...they gonna have series together again. one of the actor congratulated them, he is theearth, nuwi's ex partner in old serie. exact partner in work coz eventho earth was his couple (at that time) tawan wouldn't leave them alone. damnit tay tawan, you possesive bastard. like, earth knew that he couldnt be together with nuwi lah, walau company support them and they have fans tho, but universe like only blessed nuwi for tawan. the love songs i collect in spotify are mostly got from tawan's playlist for nuwi, well fans also have play list for theearth and nuwi which all of them are the broken heart songs.

cuma pengen nulis soal betapa mengirinya diri ini melihat dua insan yg kayaknya lagi kasmaran banget. well berdasarkan lurking di sosial media, diketahui bahwa mereka tampak sudah kasmaran sejak 2013. waktu itu usia mereka masih muda, masih mencari validasi, setidaknya itu POV gw. then reality came through their life, like salah satu masi khawatir tentangg society judgment. while the other one mungkin juga mau ikutan move on, tapi apa daya hatinya udah mentok dgn si satu nya.

2. next is about the chines' drama i watched. so nowadays i back to watch gongjun's series i've been waiting since last year. the legend of anle. not the gayes series, the straight one, but the feeling still the same. how i always feel toward chinese colossal drama, they do really act like a drama. but the feeling they gave to me as damaged as casual series.

just look at wenkexing's eyes..i got the feeling of the scenes caused of those eyes. i ain't an expert of art, but i can give plus one for this kind of drama. the aesthetic they brought to the audience with their culture is beautiful. i dunno how were they back then in real life. but the way they express the emotion, how they doin war with power and revenge, the blood, how they not afraid of the death as long as the sacrifice is worthy.

not forget to mention their costumes and design, i believe every country is beautiful. somehow, so far...i didn't get it from my own culture..i mean in the right way. 5555. it's just how they serve the audience.

well, i might be bias coz i only watched those which played by my faves. other than that, i might only know other actors from some variety shows.

3. recently, i read this book.

well, i wouldn't say this book is the best 5555, but it's something. maybe boring, but i try to keep following coz i got the point on each parts. i can feel her, thank god there's someone who has feeling, thought and somehow maybe personality like me. i mean, there are many type of people, and those who look like with the writer well we're in the same thought. so i'm not the only one. (of course fika, you not that special tho hahahaha). like, when everyone thanked to themselves for staying and struggling, the logic mind of mine said 'emang harus gimana lagi? kan emang kudu bertahan dan dijalani, ga ada jalan pintas, kalo kabur pun masalah lain pasti akan kunjung datang lagi. wong namanya juga hidup. kalo gada masalah ya baru namanya bukan kehidupan lagi. kita punya siapa lagi kalo bukan diri sendiri dan...Tuhan? yang membawa kita ke dunia ini. that's the logic mind loh ya yg bilang. kadang kalo lagi kalut ya emang susah juga mikir kesana.

kek si mba penulis buku itu. obrolan mba nya dgn si psikiater semacam validasi orang lain tentang kondisi mbanya-which is lil'bit similar sm gw. jadi gw cukup tau dan paham aja gimana menurut psikiater itu. sedikit banyak kek konsultasi via buku. iya gw tau ini ga dibenarkan, tapi kek tadi gw bilang cuma biar tau dan dikit paham aja, jadi gw kelamaan menghakimi diri sendiri.

re: cas taylor thoughts. well. he's a pop girlie that is for sure and certain. however i tend to think of him as more of a charli xcx or like marina kind of pop? intellectual classic tumblrina pop if you will. so I honestly see him liking lwymmd and blank space and like most of 1989? he went to target and bought the midnights cd etc. (caveat but I think he would like her lil outfits and performances--the visual element of her brand def). i also think he can appreciate like the our song or picture to burn if it's on the radio and he would know the words. but beyond that? i simply cannot see him clicking on spotify and navigating to back to december or haunted. like he listens to avril and slayyyter. I think he processes attitude and ditzy production less than lyrics, and a lot of tay songs are led primarily by their lyrics. I also just think he likes louder music? idk. DEAN however. dear john ugly crying in his car alone! please dont be in love with someone else!!! full volume in his cvs brand headphones!! laying flat on his back crying to last kiss in bed!! he i think is very into lyrics and emotion through writing and i think he would definitely fuck w speak now and fearless as well as like shake it off or whatever that episode had in it. I think if he explained/showed cas why he likes speak now, cas would resonate w it (even if only through association--ie, dean likes this song->i like dean->i like this song) and I think he would rly enjoy it then. fave album for cas ummmm maybe rep? i think he would like singing along to it while driving, he'd like the netflix movie of it and he'd like dean being emotional abt new years day etc. also because the entirety of spn post s3 is just cas having a hot rep era yk? this got SO LONG i'm so sorry
