Everything You Need to Know About Thin Brick Veneer and Stone Veneer Accent Walls
If you’re looking for a way to spruce up your home with an eye-catching accent wall, you may have considered thin brick or stone veneers. Both are great options for creating a stunning, one-of-a-kind feature in your home. But before you decide which of these two materials is right for your project, let’s take a closer look at how they compare.
Thin Brick Veneer
Thin brick veneers are a popular alternative to traditional masonry construction because they allow homeowners to achieve the same rustic aesthetic without having to install entire bricks. They also require less maintenance and can be installed quickly while still maintaining an authentic look. When it comes to thin brick veneer installation, there are several methods available depending on the space you’re working with. Dry stacking is the most commonly used method, but if you’re looking for something a bit more intricate, there are adhesive options that can help create complex patterns or textures that compliment the rest of your home's design.
Natural Stone Veneer
If you’re looking for something more unique than brick veneers, natural stone veneers might be the perfect choice. They come in many different shapes and sizes—from slate and quartzite to travertine and sandstone—and can be easily integrated into any existing design scheme. Natural stone veneer walls will last longer than their brick counterparts since they don't require any sort of additional maintenance or repair work over time like sealing or resurfacing. Additionally, natural stone is best suited for outdoor applications due its durability and resistance to weathering compared to traditional masonry construction materials like mortar or concrete blocks.
Accent Wall
Accent walls add texture and interest to any room in your house, whether it's made from thin brick or natural stone veneer materials. However, if you're considering installing an accent wall in your home, make sure that it complements other elements in the room such as furniture pieces and wall colors so that it doesn't overpower them. Additionally, consider using different types of lighting fixtures such as spotlights or recessed lights to really make the wall stand out from other areas of the room!
Whether you choose thin brick veneer or natural stone veneer for your accent wall project depends on what aesthetic you're trying to achieve and how much maintenance effort you want to put into it over time. Both types of materials offer great benefits when it comes to creating beautiful architecture designs while also being relatively easy to install. So no matter which type of material you choose for your accent wall project, just remember that properly preparing beforehand will help ensure that everything goes off without a hitch!

Okay, guys, this is weird. It's clearly a red barn, but it has a castle turret (ok, it's a silo, but it's like a barn castle). This is not a barndominium, it's a bastle. Built in 1995 in Castlewood, SD, it has 6bds, 5ba, and outbuildings. The house is 15,000sq.ft, and comes out to only $29/sq.ft. at $430K. I was not expecting the interior- I was expecting rustic. Check it out.
Very plain, unassuming entrance. Cheap Home Depot Door.
And, then, bam! Gray brick with a fireplace, stairs, walls with interior windows, and balconies. Where the hell am I?
The other side of the great room has plain white walls, a big open balcony, and what looks like brick walls set into the railing specifically for the display of heads. I also see brick columns, beams and a brick wall on the far end above, plus stairs to a lower level. So much going on.
Basically, where there's a railing, there's just an open space for a game room, TV room, etc.
Oh, wow, from this view, there's a marble wall. I have never seen windows w/faux marble shutters, notice the barn doors, as well.
One must wonder who designed this masterpiece. It sure is complex. On the right it looks like 3 steps going up to what, a window and small hallway? There's also a door on the right, and door above.
Here's a view from the balcony area. I guess we can also call it a mezzanine.
Back downstairs, we're in the kitchen. I'm not impressed. Don't like the cabinets or the layout.
Then, here's a way oversized dining room. Note the little shelf above- it has a tiny railing.
I'm gonna say that this is a giant family room off the dining room, and it took me a minute to realize that the "island" in the middle is a hot tub.
So, this must've been a game room. Note the rectangular decorative wall by the pool table.
Then over here there's a TV room that looks like it was decorated by Meemaw and Papaw. I have to say that I hate the furniture- it doesn't go with the funkiness of the house.
It looks like there are patterns on the walls, like wheat stalks going up the stairs.
Wallpaper or some kind of decorative panels up here. There's so much space.
Here's a dark bedroom. The ceiling and walls are so weird.
This large bedroom looks like it's in the silo/turret.
The shape of the ceiling up here is interesting. I don't know what this is- maybe some kind of storage area.
There's a 2 car garage with a large attached barn.
Plus, another very large building attached to the barn.
It's some sort of workshop.
The white building is a whole 'nother house w/3bds, 1ba. Remember, it's only $29 per sq. ft., so it's a lot for the money.
And, this L-shaped building is another huge barn/work space. This could be someone's empire.
Wow, it's big.
2.84 acres of land.

Exposed Brick Walls: The Ultimate Industrial Statement
One of the most iconic elements of industrial living room design is the exposed brick wall. It instantly gives your space that raw, urban feel that’s synonymous with the industrial look. If you’re lucky enough to have natural brick walls, consider yourself ahead of the game. However, if your home doesn’t have brick walls, faux brick panels are a great alternative that provides the same aesthetic without the hassle.
How can I achieve the industrial look without real brick? You can use faux brick panels or wallpaper with a brick pattern to mimic the industrial aesthetic. For an extra touch, consider whitewashing the brick for a softer, more modern look.

[ID: Fifteen digitally sketched panels in sepia tones and black and white.]
[Panel 1: A tower in Balboa Park (shown in previous updates), captioned, "1920 Balboa Park." From off panel, Hare calls, "Jacky! Jaaackyyy!"]
[Panel 2: Rabbit and Hare as they appeared in 1920 (Rabbit is pre=transition, Hare is pre-accident). Rabbit, sitting on a brick wall, waves to Hare walking by and says, "Hey there! Jack ran off again, huh?" Hare says, "Bah, he's probably getting chummy with your pal, Three. He'll show up."]
[Panel 3: Hare folds his arms and closes his left eye, looking at Rabbit skeptically out of the corner of his right eye. He says, "What about you, hiding from the twins?" Rabbit looks away, smiling guiltily, and says, "Not hiding, just (ellipses) getting some air?" Hare says, "Tch, yeah, right."]
[Panel 4: Hare looks off to the left irritably and says, "I get it, though. My Pops gets on my nerves all the time! Like just the other night, he (ellipses)"]
[Panel 5: Hare looks down and grimaces uncomfortably, saying, "(ellipses) Well (ellipses)" Rabbit looks at him in concern and says encouragingly, "Yeah?"]
[Panel 6: Hare, looking downward, hurt. He says, "(ellipses) He said I walk like a girl." Rabbit says from off panel, "Oh (ellipses)"]
[Panel 7: Rabbit, half joking, half hopefully, asks, "(ellipses) Think you could teach me?" Hare glares back and says loudly, baring his rows of teeth, "No! 'Cause I don't!"]
[Panel 8: Hare and Rabbit, backs to the viewer, continue to talk. Hare says, "I mean, it's different for you. For you, it'd be a good thing." Rabbit says, "Yeah (ellipses) maybe someday."]
[Panel 9: Rabbit looks down wistfully. Hare in the background looks at her nervously, realizing his faux pas. No text.]
[Panel 10: Hare puts his hands on his hips and looks away, saying quietly, "Y-you'll get there." Then, louder, he says, "Anyway, damn, no sign of Jack, huh?" Rabbit, cheering up, says, "Gasp! You'd you pick up such foul language?]
[Panel 11: Hare points at Rabbit while grinning, and Rabbit grins back. This panel is reminiscent of one seen in a previous update where Hare couldn't remember this happening. Hare says, "Well, I can't say it 'round Jack or Skully. You, though (em-dash) I don't care if you think I'm bad!" Rabbit says, "You're bad but you're not that bad." In overlay, in Rabbit's font but apparently separate from her dialogue, reads, "Hare (ellipses)"]
[Panel 12: Vertical gradient from the yellowish sepia background to white. In overlay, Rabbit says, "Hare (ellipses) Hare!"]
[Panel 13: Present day Rabbit, staring directly at the viewer in alarm and venting steam, says, "Hare! You slept for a hundred years! It's the sky shark apocalypse!"]
[Panel 14: Present day Hare, staring blackly ahead at the viewer (Rabbit), with an ellipses indicating a silent pause.]
[Panel 15: Hare smiles in relief, beginning to tear up, and says, "Oh, thank God. sniff You're still annoying as shit [censored]." End ID]

Historic 1769 Colonial style home in Keymar, MD has been renovated and redecorated in a variety of styles. Firstly, they painted the distinctive brick exterior pale gray, with an orange door. It doesn't look bad, but it's not the traditional, iconic look. It has 4bds, 4ba, 5,227 sq ft, and they're asking $3m. If you are a purist when it comes to historic homes, you probably won't like it.
Now, remember- I said that it was done in a variety of styles. The entrance hall has Oriental themed wallpaper. They stripped the newel post and railing on the stairs and left it bare wood, (I like that look, but it needs a flat protective finish, b/c it's going to get very dirty), plus a new floor has an inlaid border.
The light fixture was removed from the ceiling medallion and they did a copper-look design on it.
The sitting room is very non-traditional with it's bright green walls but the ceiling mural has a colonial scene. Above the fireplace they have colored mirror squares.
The next room has a large jungle leaf print and a wooden hippo, elephant, plus a trunk.
This room has a wall of shelving and opens to hall stairs.
The family room has a dark, rustic, nautical look with black and deep green walls. This room has wood paneling that was painted over, plus a brick trim around the top. I wonder if they darkened the brick.
I have seen faux aged walls, but this one looks like black mold. It's well done, but unusual. They left the pocket doors and beadboard, but painted them dark gray. Ironically, the sink cabinet looks very colonial.
The tub has a framed skull print above it and some stuffed animals on the ledge. The shower is modern.
The dining room is gray & black with a French cabinet. The table is a pine colonial.
The large kitchen has a rustic ceiling and 3 different cabinet colors- blue, gray, and colonial red. The ceiling looks like flooring to me. The glassware cabinet looks French.
The open concept space has a dining room with a big stone fireplace and stripped doors on the patio. The gold glassware shelf is a French pastry stand.
The primary bedroom has a traditional look. Nice big fireplace in here. The wood paneling was painted white and there's a mural on the coffered ceiling.
This smaller bedroom has nice wallpaper. It even has a colonial rocking horse in the fireplace.
This is a lovely bath. I like the cabinet and closets.
There's a 2 car garage with a space between that they've turned into a home gym/man cave. There's also a sleeping area.
They painted this beautiful barn-turned-home a dark gray, including this wonderful brick wall on the side.
It's lovely inside with slate flooring.
There's also storage for the big Home Depot skeleton.
This garage has a sitting room downstairs and more of a hangout space upstairs.
The main house has a patio.
Lots of space. There's even another small stone building.
There's also a pond on the 25.02 acres of property.

Last for tonight-- part four!! The left and right inner walls!!
I wanted to do the inner walls like this one. Insane. Why. I figured I'd do it in panels.
Firstly, wood framing (on both sides). Dollar store craft wood and paint + marker.
Ages ago my older sister showed me this video where a lady made a faux brick wall using painted pieces of a cardboard drink holder, so while I was at Walmart I dashed into the McDonald's pretending to be out of breath to make it seem like I'd been there and ran back out of necessity and asked for a drink holder. They gave me one and I was like "Thank you so much" and ran out and bam-- free drink holder.
I really like how they came out. I wish I could find the video we watched...
I filled in between the wooden beams with DAS clay and when the "bricks" were dry I pressed them into it.
The wood needed a wash or two after this ; Shiet got real clay-y.
Details carved and painted! Then to the other side!
Carved in some detail of wooden support behind the plaster + brick.
I decided to do some detail with plaster turning to dust as it crumbled away.
Next I'll show how I finished the forge and made it glow!! 👀✨

How to Use Plasterboard to Create Modern Feature Walls in Your Home
Feature walls have become a key element in contemporary home design, adding a focal point that enhances the aesthetic appeal of any room. Easy to install, affordable, and flexible in design, it offers endless possibilities for transforming plain walls into stunning centrepieces. If you're searching for plasterboard near me, here's how you can use it to build beautiful, modern feature walls in your home.
The Versatility of Plasterboard for Feature Walls
Plasterboard is a popular choice in modern home renovation because of its adaptability. It can be shaped, textured, and even painted to match a variety of design aesthetics. This material can seamlessly blend with various decorative styles while remaining cost-effective. Additionally, its lightweight nature makes it easy to install, perfect for DIY enthusiasts or professional builders.
Creative Ideas for Plasterboard Feature Walls
