sorry for being a little late to the ideas train but i feel you on mirror!margaret. its strange to consider her a "bad seed" and just leave it at that. wasnt mark a "bad seed" once, just in a different way? he was literally driving the people that picked him up insane and presumably making them kill themselves. i think we should all agree that the sacrifice guns are maybe fucked up from being raised into child sacrifices.

with mirror!marg its just. weird though. of course she was a devout follower of a cult she was raised in, she was like 10, being abused, and her god gave her a way to exude that force outwards instead of continuing to take the pain inwards. maybe all the "bad seed" talk is posturing and well get an arc truly for Her later but just. grahhhh.

another potential goodie and the reason i thought to send this was like. mark didnt start aging until his series appearance mark-ed a change in him and he to grow as his own person (ik OOC it was because actors grow up, but he was a child for a long while in there). mirror!margaret is still pointedly younger. maybe shell change as she grows, too? just hoping.

and yeah the age thing is a good point and i kind of think of mark as like. the older brother to mirror!margaret's "edgy teen sister who's embarrassed of her uncool brother" growing and changing and very few people being truly bad, and the ones who are too far gone being at least deserving of pity, or even respect is like. at4w's whole thing

i mostly just think the idea that mirror!margaret thinks shes the GOOD one is interesting. like she technically is if goodness is obedience! she doesn't want to admit at one point she and mark were the same naive little kid. she has to be right she has to be the superior of the two because unlike mark she did everything just right

I feel like I'm in the minority of Faust fans that doesn't really ship him with any of the canon characters.

I've seen people create cool fanart/fanfics of the semi-popular ships with him (i.e. Faustemkin, Fauslayer, Fauszappa, etc.) or come up with the crackships for him, like I've seen some shipping him with Crow, Raven and Happy Chaos.

But honestly, I'm like meh on them. Aside from like one which is Faust and Elphelt, I'm like Shania Twain where I'm like, it doesn't impress me much. No hate to the shippers, I respect you guys, I just don't feel the vibe.

I'm just more into the oc x canon side when it comes to him.

I like pretty much most of the Faust ships I see on here (Fauslayer, Fautemkin, ect) for their like ability to support one another through their own struggles, or just general potential particularly for hurt/comfort stuff. But Johnny/Faust is just so fucking funny to me.

It just makes me think of Johnny using the most god awful pickup line that has ever actually been told out loud and Faust fully falling for it

irt fauslayer: in faust and slayers x2 (vanilla) arcade modes they both mutually meet there and share some shrimpteresting dialogue (part of it is slayer noting that they've never met before and slayer has no idea about the baldhead thing, the rest is wow cool homoeroticism or whatever). faust thinks slayer is cool and slayer thinks faust is a shining perfect example of humanity and its potential.

judging from the way they communicate in xrd (for specifics; fausts xrd sign arcade mode), specifically with slayer being very in-the-know about fausts situation implies that they, in the like five years in between the games, have kept in close contact, and that faust trusts slayer enough to tell him such things about his past (and with slayer deciding to basically betray a group he Founded in order to try and do right by faust about it). so its pretty much just. reading stuff in the source material.

No it went through, it was just a mixture of me being forgetful and lazy.

But yeah, I read your reply, and I can kinda understand it. I'm not too caught up with Guilty Gear stuff so I'm not too familiar with some of it.

I'm still not invested in the ship (again, not out of hate, I'm just picky when it comes to shipping), but at least I can understand why people ship it.

10. worst part of fanon

i dont think i can answer this healthily at length so im going to give a short cut. a lot of people do not like engaging narratively with fighting games. i can kind of understand this. capcom bungled a lot of street fighter and mortal kombat is a whole situation im not touching and those being what is essentially the Big Two of fighting games that your average joe on the street will know has probably done some irreparable damage to people being willing to read.

i will give my generic People Should Be Nicer to Faust remark because im mostly in his neck of the woods. but i think people should put more care towards most people in the roster when it comes to not reducing them to either a fandom archetype or a trope based around their gameplay archetype/the kinds of people that are perceived as "[x] players".

16. you can’t understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)

there are a lot of minor characterization problems in the world and due to my memory i have a hard time actually remembering which ones i dislike because i try not to think about them unless confronted with them ykwim.

unfortunately the first thing that popped into my head is: i understood sinbed back in the day when it was xrd and like 1 person with a brain was pioneering it with love but nobody that has got into it since strive dropped has been able to read.
