Probably the fanciest model I've done this year - my Tzeentchian Daemon Prince! Still need to name her.

Big kitbash on this one. I saw a really cool conversion of the base Stormcast model in Warhammer World, and found most of it in my FLGS bits box the next day (mostly missing the wings). Stormcast wings, head + bird, spare chaos backpack, Tzeentch-y bits from Tzaangor spares, unused shield from Fateskimmer, tentacle arm from bits. Quite a bit of milliput, plastic glue and fiddling!

Colourshift paints and contrast as well as classic acrylics. Basing is fine sand, PVA, Various Small Rocks, Gamer's Grass tufts.

Warhammer 40,000 Chaos Daemons Changes for June 20, 2024

Chaos Daemons are one of those armies that have been in the tough spot of not having any difficulty winning games, but struggling to reach top tables and take home trophies. Additionally, for such a large index they don't have any luck branching out from their most efficient units. Neither of these things are fun for competitive Daemon players.

So GW has decided they also get an improved Army Rule. It's not a huge buff, but now Greater Daemons all trigger Daemonic Terror. Pretty fitting I think. Additionally, all Deep Strike units of the same god can be setup within 6" of them the same way they could with Shadow of Chaos. Those same units also count as being in the Shadow. This should make Greater Daemons more of a centerpiece to the army than before, and possibly help enable mono-god armies. At least provided they didn't give those Daemons a subsequent bump . . .

For FAQs and Errata they've slightly nerfed Horticulus Slimux. The daemonic snail must now be within a single terrain feature to trigger its ability. Horrors are now confirmed to only split from attacks, so that's arguably a nerf too. We also get a clarification for the starting strength of Blue Horrors units that are spawned from Pink Horrors. The interesting FAQs are for Shadow of Chaos, though. On the one hand, if you're not playing with objective markers you can't really spread the Shadow of Chaos. On the other, you can apparently just use Insane Bravery to force one of your units to take and pass a Battle-shock test. Both of these feel a bit broken to me, and I hope they get addressed.

Points wise, if you were worried those improvements came with nerfs to Greater Daemons you can breathe a sigh of relief. It's all buffs here! In fact, with Greater Daemons now acting as loci for their underlings, GW has apparently decided they can buff Be'lakor. The other buffed units are Bloodthirsters, both flavors of Daemon Prince, Daemonettes, Fateskimmer, Fiends, Plague Drones, Skull Cannons, and Soul Grinders. Nurglings have had their points adjusted too, to make the first 3 bases cost more while paying a more fair price for larger units.

Honestly, with the exception of a FAQ that probably won't come up much in Matched Play, this is all good news! This could potentially put Daemons in a good spot to take advantage of any power vacuums that form without becoming overpowered themselves.
