"GIGANTIC DRIVE TO CREATE WORK," Kingston Whig-Standard. May 14, 1934. Page 15. --- Re-establishment of Credit and Stability Helps Government ---- WINNIPEG - Papers are being shuffled in relief department pigeon- holes and preliminary plans checked in preparation for monster drive by the governments of western Canada. Work schemes, carefully fyled away during a period of financial stringency are receiving fresh attention in the face of a better budgetary outlook.
Proposals are being re-examined that will bring workers back to the land, encourage home crafts and local industries, revive building activity and encourage agricultural development. Special attention will be paid to waterworks projects in rural areas in view of the disastrous effect of the recent drought.
Approval of the government's relief bill which ear-marked $50,000,000 for a public works program across Canada provided the spark which set provincial machinery humming for the benefit of thousands of unemployed.
Proposals for housing schemes are being studied by a score of cities. Winnipeg has under consideration several plans including the construction of a community centre, to cost $1,700,000. Other preliminary projects in Manitoba include work at the International Peace Garden and Riding Mountain National park, extensive river works to prevent floods and develop the northern mining industry, government and small public buildings at various points..
Public works in 'Saskatchewan include construction of government buildings at Regina to cost $750,000 and a number of post-offices throughout the province. Construction of airports in the north and a general program to stimulate industry is also planned.
Several cities have indicated a willingness to launch their own recovery program and pay the full cost of labor involved in return for inter- est-free loans. It is believed the Dominion government will encourage such schemes which are well thought out, and justified on their merits. Lethbridge in Alberta, seeks a loan of 500,000 on these terms for an extensive building and paving program.
The proposed British Columbia program includes innumerable public buildings, sewer, water and road works, post-office and bridge construction. Erection of a huge stadium, grandstand and auditorium at Kitsilano Indian reserve would cost $2,000,000 and employ 600 men for one year.
In addition federal machinery is being set up to secure rellef for agricultural communities. Powers of the Federal Farm Loan Board will be enlarged to permit of debt adjustment. Arrangements will be made to loan money to wipe off existing debts up to two-thirds of the value of land and equipment.

Title: Cultivating Joy: Exploring Stardew Valley's Impact on Farming Sims and Cozy Gaming Culture
Introduction:
In the world of gaming, few titles have captured the hearts of players quite like Stardew Valley. Developed by ConcernedApe (Eric Barone), this indie farming simulation game has garnered widespread acclaim for its charming gameplay, captivating storylines, and emphasis on relaxation and creativity. As we delve into the rich tapestry of farming sims and the evolution of cozy gaming culture, let’s explore how Stardew Valley has carved out its own niche and left an indelible mark on the gaming landscape.
The Rise of Farming Sims: A Growing Genre
Farming simulation games have a long and storied history, with classics like Harvest Moon paving the way for modern iterations. These games offer players the chance to escape to idyllic countryside settings, where they can tend to crops, raise livestock, and build relationships with virtual villagers. However, it wasn’t until the release of Stardew Valley in 2016 that the genre experienced a renaissance.
1. Depth and Customization: Stardew Valley distinguished itself from its predecessors with its deep gameplay mechanics and extensive customization options. Players can design their farms, choose from a variety of crops and animals, and even explore caves and mines for resources and adventure.
2. Narrative Depth: Beyond farming, Stardew Valley weaves a rich tapestry of characters and storylines, allowing players to form meaningful connections with the inhabitants of Pelican Town. Each villager has their own personality and backstory, adding depth and emotional resonance to the game.
3. Endless Replayability: With its open-ended gameplay and dynamic seasons, Stardew Valley offers endless opportunities for exploration and discovery. Whether players want to focus on farming, fishing, mining, or romance, there’s always something new to experience in the world of Stardew Valley.
The Cozy Gaming Revolution: Finding Comfort in Virtual Worlds
In recent years, there has been a growing trend towards cozy gaming – a genre characterized by its emphasis on warmth, comfort, and relaxation. Games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Cozy Grove, and Spiritfarer have captivated players with their soothing gameplay and inviting atmospheres. Stardew Valley, with its rustic charm and gentle pace, is often cited as a cornerstone of the cozy gaming movement.
1. Stress Relief and Self-Care: In an increasingly hectic world, cozy games offer players a much-needed respite from the stresses of daily life. The meditative gameplay of Stardew Valley provides a welcome escape, allowing players to unwind and recharge in a peaceful virtual environment.
2. Community and Connection: Cozy games also foster a sense of community and connection among players, who often share their experiences and creations online. Stardew Valley’s vibrant modding community, fan art, and fanfiction showcase the game’s enduring impact on players’ lives beyond the screen.
3. Creative Expression: One of the hallmarks of cozy gaming is its emphasis on creativity and self-expression. Whether players are designing their dream farm, decorating their virtual home, or crafting intricate stories for their characters, cozy games empower players to unleash their imagination and embrace their inner artist.
The Evolution of Gaming Culture: Embracing Diversity and Inclusivity
As gaming culture has evolved, so too has our understanding of what it means to be a gamer. Stardew Valley’s inclusive approach to gameplay – which allows players to choose their own path and play at their own pace – reflects a broader shift towards diversity and inclusivity in the gaming industry.
1. Accessibility: Stardew Valley’s accessible gameplay and intuitive controls have made it a welcoming entry point for players of all ages and skill levels. Its cross-platform availability has further expanded its reach, ensuring that everyone can experience the joy of farming and community-building.
2. Representation: In addition to its inclusive gameplay, Stardew Valley also features diverse characters and relationships, including same-sex marriage options and non-binary characters. This commitment to representation has resonated with LGBTQ+ players and allies, who see themselves reflected in the game’s virtual world.
3. Community Building: Through online forums, social media groups, and streaming platforms like Twitch and YouTube, gamers have forged vibrant communities centered around shared interests and experiences. Stardew Valley’s supportive fanbase exemplifies the power of gaming to bring people together and foster connections across borders and cultures.
Conclusion:
Stardew Valley stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of farming sims and the transformative power of cozy gaming. Its immersive world, heartfelt storytelling, and emphasis on relaxation and creativity have made it a beloved classic and a touchstone for the cozy gaming movement. As gaming culture continues to evolve, one thing remains clear: the joy of cultivating crops, forging friendships, and finding comfort in virtual worlds knows no bounds.

Happy New Year!
This is the anon from a while back who sent the ask about school, how I hated my undergrad years, and all that jazz. It actually took a while to work up the courage to send that ask because I was so worried I would bother you, but if it helped you even a little it was well worth the effort it took me to send it! I really empathize with your situation, being forced into school. I also feel like I was forced to go to college when I would have been better off in a trade school, haha. I wish someone had been there to assure me that it was all going to be okay. As someone who's been there, honestly the most comforting thought to me is that once school is over, you never have to do it again!
I also totally get why you would feel bad complaining about your workload, but never feel guilty about that! Students are (hypothetically) given the same amount of schoolwork, but that doesn't account for what's going on in the students' lives. Some students just don't excel at school the way others do, and some students have extremely busy non-academic lives, or are dealing with personal issues. Most professors have seen enough students to be pretty understanding of that, and people can often be more sympathetic than you'd think. I was really happy to hear that your professor let you do your group project alone.
Anyway, I just wanted to wish you happy holidays and to say that I'm glad you seem to be doing a little better.
ALSO that the wounded Diluc you did from a while ago hit me so good!! I think about him being wounded and alone a lot, my poor baby girl :( I want to put him in my pocket. I hope you draw him is his reddead of the night outfit again!
I hope you did well on your exams! My goats say "Hi!" <3<3<3
world's sweetest anon in the whole world. ugly crying. I'm very sad that school has started again. I can always feel my mood steadily declining as the winter break draws to a close...
I think my workload is going to peak in March. But I also have a condensed course that ends during that time, so that will be really nice ;-;;
I will definitely be drawing Diluc in his new fit again sometime soon :] it's so sexy.. I cannot let it go to waste. Hopefully he's not so sad this time. I have a knack for that being my muse. Oops.
HI GOATS :DD <3333
#when profs are genuinely understanding and show they care for their students >>>#I ran into the prof that was so kind to me last term and she said to say hi to my cows for her. just about cried.#asks#anon#not art#in other news my sister finally finished her second degree (two degrees just to farm? idk girl) so she can manage most of the operations#soooo much relief#she up and left right after christmas to go on vacay with her bf it was the worst last 6 days of the year for me

“DESTITUTE COUPLE ADOPT CHILDREN,” Toronto Star. March 7, 1933. Page 1. ---- Poverty Likes Companionship, Decides Chief --- Special to The Star Hamilton, March 7. - Poverty likes companionship, according to Chief Constable Clark, superintendent of the Children's Aid Society, who yesterday investigated eviction of a county family from their farm home. They apparently had no shelter available when the landlord evicted them. To his surprise he found that, although the couple were penniless and on relief they recently informally adopted two young children. They were determined to keep the youngsters, but Chief Clark decided they must be returned to their original homes. Temporary shelter was provided for the family.

Hey Gem, you play World of Warcraft, right?
Muffled sounds of video game violence could be heard coming from Gem Steven's headphones as he shouts to clear the comms because shit is hitting the fan in the mythic plus raid as one of a handful of tanks who has gotten used to the Bosses bullshit mechanics.
The methodical clicking of the keyboard sounding delicate yet precise as everything seemed to have a pixel perfect move that needed to be pressed at just the right time in this game of standing and hitting.
His breathing held in limbo as the bosses health was widdled down little by little. It was as if he himself was in the moment of combat himself, out if the corner of his eye he sees the uninterruptable raid killing move and the boss having a sliver of health left, it was a race against time before the outcome would be an insanely hard to get achievement or another walk of shame through the instance portal at other failed attempt of running a no death run.
Sweat beaded up on his brow, another shoot of a directing order as the designated Raid Leader, and the best protection warrior in this side of Azeroth, hailing from Argus, wearing a full set of the latest mythic raid set from the last update. It was just a matter of mere seconds of the boss being on its last leg before the one players internet crashes?
This discord call bugging out, their character standing in flames. As if there wasn't enough fueling the flames of this war against the big bad. He calls out for a priest to pull the character in question out of the flames before they die and fuck up the run, but then...
The raid has been wiped by this instant killing move and Gem Steven let's out no noise of the sheer frustration in his soul at this minor inconvenience. He simple presses release spirit and after a second attempt they kill the boss, but do not get the achievement due to the singular person being dead through the entire second attempt at the fight.
Gem Steven tells everyone good work in a low voice irritated with another failed attempt at a no death run. Before the discord call is ended and he swaps from his sweaty raiding guild character, to one of his farming alts. A small little unimposing panda who cooks, makes potions and does the occasional arcalogical dig as she sits in the outskirts of Suramar City standing in a fishing raft and enjoying the look of the evening sky.
He looks over to his phone seeing the notification and simply takes a picture of what he's doing currently rather than explain the 25th failed attempt for this raid in its entirety.
"Yea, I play here and there... it's not that series... why? You need help with anything?"

Busy day BUT!
Snowblower is fixed and running! Last year I used it twice before it started just dying and struggling to run. I had the same problem in my mower, and when I dumped the gas it came out of the can GREEN so it was definitely a fuel problem. Finally got the carb cleaned and after having it continue to struggle to run it did finally run at a low idle instead of choking out. Just had to burn through the last dregs of old gas in the lines. Still going to dump some fuel system cleaner in alongside the carb cleaning because holy fuck was that some rough running.
Picked up a calf hutch for the waterfowl to shelter in this winter since the knee injury is going to prevent me from building anything and this hutch was cheaper anyways. It was WAY larger than a standard calf hutch but in pretty rough shape so I got it for a steal. Highly doubt the bastards are going to use it like they didn't use the shelter I made last winter but at least it's offered. Gotta fiddle with positioning before I'm happy with it.
Was twenty minutes late for puppy class because of the calf hutch but Hatchet got to be a demo dog today for teaching stays which is hilarious to me because he's fucking awful at them lmao. He did impress me though! Actually made huge progress while in class which NEVER happens so we'll see if it carries into our regular training this week. I highly doubt it lol.
Things I did not get done: Any fucking school work.
#gar rambles#that snowblower is a huge relief though#i'm the main yardwork person in the household and this snowblower is self-propelled so with my knee it'll be a godsend#yes my husband can snowblow too but he most likely won't be home when i'll need to get it done#gonna have to stay up late tomorrow night to get the schoolwork done#so happy i'm just left with the easy class i forgot how busy fall time farm prep can be somehow#so much shit to get done before snow hits and we've already had snow close by me
