Hey! π
You recently reblogged my art with an ID text (Thanks a lot! π), describing the image, and I have doubts about that. Can you help me, please? π₯Ί
Since the beginning of my account, I usually describe my images through Alt Text, Tumblr's tool. But now I'm really not sure if that's enough or not. π
Would it be better if I described it directly in the body of the blog, as you did, and not use Tumblr's Alt Text? (genuine question)
I thought I was on the right track using Alt Text, but knowing this mode of description that uses blog text confused me as to what the best form of accessibility would be.
And sorry for the sudden question! In case you can't answer, I'll understand. π
(Also, English isn't my native language, so I definitely made some grammar mistakes. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.)
Anyway, thank you so much for reblogging my art. Your tags made me happy π₯Ίπ Every interaction is very important to me and you were so sweet! π
Hi!!! You're so welcome!! First of all, it's AWESOME (caps: awesome) that you're using alt text, and my bad for not realizing you'd already put it in this really good art! I'm on mobile and can't tell, rip. I'll replace my ID with yours (and a translation hehe)!!!
To answer your question: from what I know, putting descriptions in plain text of a post (above any captions) is the most accessible kind of ID! Alt text is great for people who use screenreaders, but it can be glitchy, and most importantly, not everyone who needs IDs uses screenreaders, which means they have to go through extra steps to access the alt text. (Also, tumblr alt text displays on pc as white text against a bright purple background, which can be eyestraining and too low-contrast to read. No clue why they did that)
I'm so glad you asked me, and you were perfectly understandable!!! I hope all of this makes sense, you can totally feel free to ask me to clarify if it doesn't!! Your art made ME (caps: me) happy, your rendering was gorgeous and I'm in love with how you made kirishima a little darker and made bakugou's eye the brightest and also the only one looking directly at the viewer :)) I hope you have a wonderful day!!! ππ
#again i hope this makes sense and you are so nice to ask so nicely!!!#i'm glad i could make you happy too :)#asks#accessibility#farelosolar#kay talks
