Todays rip: 12/11/2023
World Out There
Season 4 Episode 2 Featured on: Summer-Colored Smiles ~ The SiIvaSummer All-Star Festival Collection
Ripped by Jamangar
youtube
Requested by xinos!
Yesterday's post was very much one for myself, so today I return the favor by way of a request - World Out There is a fantastic rip that I can't believe I'd slept on for so long, despite being made by one of my all-time favorite rippers.
Jamangar is a name I've covered on the blog already with Story of Undertale, and that rip really does set the stage perfectly - she has one very specific area of expertise, that being Undertale/Deltarune, yet always pulls their rips off with flawless execution, full attention to detail with no corners cut - full realizations of any idea presented. And its through that brilliant execution that, despite me really having no nostalgic attachment to Rocketeer, World Out There manages to feel so beautifully nostalgic. Its a rip that, despite having glossed over it so many years ago, I now magically feel emotionally connected to upon just a few relistens.
I get the feeling from reading the comments on the video that Rocketeer really is a nostalgic radio-favorite, the kind of song that so many people remember from their younger years yet can't put their finger on the name of. There's a kind of emotional honesty to Undertale's music that lends it to being the perfect fit for a song like Rocketeer...its a rip that I end up finding myself just lost in as a result. The vocals paired with elements from so many different pieces of more solemn Undertale music, together add to a sort of transcendent atmosphere that's...hard to describe. Its one I've had playing on loop whilst writing this, yet I'm at a loss for words as to truly convey how it makes me feel.
I have places to go from the RIP² album did an absolutely incredible job arranging this track, and as mentioned before there's so many other incredible rips done by Jamangar already on the channel. Yet even without much background to it or its source track, I can tell World Out There had a profound impact on its viewers. In the words of a wise commenter - it's one that hits in the soul.

Okay so wtf was 2010
A song with the lyrics "Girl I keep it gangsta, popping bottles at the crib" was a Number 1 hit
Let me repeat that for you
A song bragging about how the guy "keeps it gangsta" by drinking alcohol at home made it to the Number 1 spot
It was the 37th biggest song of the year

Did this playlist challenge where you have to pull from the last 25 years of music you grew up listening to, no more than two songs from the same five year period can play back to back, make it flow right, and all within 80 minutes
I’ve never really created a playlist with sequencing in mind since most of my playlists are sorted alphabetically and I just shuffle them anyway. But I wanted to give this an actual go. I chose thirsting music (bc of course I did LOL) and added an extra challenge to make a mix of American, Japanese, and Korean R&B music, and not rely so much on big hits and go for more deep cuts. This is what I came up with. If you listen to it, lmk what you think!!!
“REEEWIND!” m-flo ❤️ Crystal Kay
"Closer" Sweetie feat. H.E.R.
"Rocketeer" Far East Movement feat. Ryan Tedder
"Hype Boy" NewJeans
"My Way, Your Way" BoA feat. WISE
"Bring it All to Me" Blaque feat. "NSYNC
"Mr." KARA
"M & U" Cassie
"Into You" Ariana Grande
"Go Away" Omar Apollo
"Burn" Usher
"Thinkin Bout You" Frank Ocean
"Talk" Khalid
"Stay the Night" Mariah Carey
"Thirsty" aespa

Yo, if you weren't a college undergrad in the early 2010s you will never understand the full power of 'Like a G6'
