April Bookstagram Day 20. W. I. T. C. H. Comics • My W. I. T. C. H. post yesterday made me remember my collection of this awesome kids series and while I can’t post all 74 issues in one post (how to fit ‘em in one square?? LOL) here’s my entry for a couple of challenges today. • 💖#allthebooksapril : Squad Goals. The W. I. T. C. H. gang is the ultimate squad goal. They started off as individuals with mix-match personalities that were bound only by their magical destiny, and organically grew into a solid and healthy group held together by the most powerful force: friendship. 💧 #iamsweetapril : Funny Character - Irma Lair, the Keeper of Water (and my zodiac sign) is the funniest! Her meteoric personality keeps dim and dire situations light enough for the girls to keep moving forward! 🔥 #fantasychezspring : Rainy Day Reads. Any book is a rainy day read for me, tbh, but I particularly remember the college semestral break I got chicken pox and was imprisoned(!) in my room with just these magazines. It was two weeks of just wonderful comics reading. 😊 🍃 #aprilbookishmadness : First in a series - the one on the top right is the very first issue of this series. I vividly remember the day I got it circa 2002 and I’m happy I made the right choice to choose this over a different magazine in the bookstore. 💨 #bookstagramreadsapril : Multiple Copies. This series ran for 74 issues here in the PH and I got them every single month that it was available and even bought duplicate copies that I used to cut and paste on journals. These are one of my most prized possessions and the final issue even featured my little sister’s photo and won her an awesome goodie bag! • What series were you obsessed with when you were younger? QOTD: What’s your heritage? . If you believe my parents, I’m 100% Chinese, at least in terms of genetics and ethnicity. That being said, I do identify as culturally Taiwanese (my grandparents grew up there and my parents were born there). So seeing books that involve Taiwanese culture, like #TheAstonishingColorofAfter by @exrpan and WANT by @cindyponauthor really hit home for me. . Some 📸 notes: - the pastry in the top right of this photo was supposed to have a friend but I ate it. I couldn’t help it! ⁉️#qotd: What are you currently reading? • A of JAF is #currentlyreading: Blood of a Thousand Stars by @rhodabee I think picking up another sci-fi novel so close to Obsidio was a mild mistake. I know that they’re completely different in terms of plot, style, feel…well, everything except for the space bit but still. Marley & Me by Josh Grogan. • Before you send me hate mail bec I reminded you of this heart-wrenching story you should know that I got this book a week before I saw the movie, cried my eyes out for half of the length of that friggin’ film and I’ve never even opened this book since then. QOTD: What’s the longest you’ve been away from Instagram? . I think the longest I’ve gone without posting on Instagram is like two weeks. I just wasn’t in the mood and I was also running out of pictures. The longest I’ve gone without checking Insta is like a day or two. QOTD: What bookish items do you collect? . I pretty much collect all the basics. Usually not on purpose. It’s more like hoarding than collecting, to be honest. Bookmarks, signed bookplates, buttons, pins, pretty much all the free swag I can get my greedy hands on. Pre-order initiatives and exclusive editions are why my wallet hates me. (That and my need to have matching covers, but that’s a topic for another day). -- Today, I went to class and then recitation but the only thing I retained was that I can watch HBO GO for free since I live on campus. Which basically means I’m going to spend the night watching Harry Potter movies on demand instead of studying like I originally planned. April Bookstagram Day 16. A Song of Ice and Fire Series by George R. R. Martin • First off, know that I’m a show-only fan (and these are @ginoongbyen ‘s books and maps) so don’t come @ me. • Second off, these were maps that used to be on our room’s walls in SG and while I haven’t read a word from the books, it helped make sense of some things from the show. I came in late to the fandom, S04 was already airing when I started but I still vividly remember the weekend I binged S01-S03 to catch up and it was glorious! • I am for #HouseStark (bec these kids have been through so much, huhu, and Arya is my kween, but I’m also Team Dany and the latest season kind of merged my biases together so idk, im wrecked.
