Leigh Anne, by all means is an introvert, is fed up with her 8-5 job, paying bills and being lonely so making the impulsive decision to fly to Germany for a year caught everyone, including herself, off guard. It started off well enough, until she accepted an invite from a new friend to stay in her parents' clock workshop on the outskirts of the Black Forest. There Leigh Anne discovers a mysterious silver horse in the woods, experiences a flight of terror through the trees and crashes headlong into a world not her own.

In Middle Earth a malicious strain of monsters is breeding in the darkest parts of the forest. Haldir dreads the news of missing comrades and is more wary of strange non-elves than ever. However Leigh Anne, a very strange human of a very strange land, may be of assistance for not just anyone can ride a Mearas.

I've had a lot more free time to read recently (on account of being on a medical leave for two weeks) and it's been nice to catch up on the fanfics I've missed.

Typically, I alternate between heavy and fluffy stories - and when that fails, I take a break from fanfiction. Not so in this case, this fic was such a great way to get a smile in between the depressing books I've been going through recently.

One thing I really enjoyed about this story was how it alternated between different modes of storytelling. Within the same chapter, we would go between Percy's POV but also get the POV from his social media, work day, and the trending topics in his world.

Also! One of the funnier meet-ups between soulmates I've read in fanfiction!

KH: Fanfiction Restoration at 25%

With these last two chapters being half the size of the usual, it was easier to get them done back-to-back. Enjoy another piece of my Kingdom Hearts cannon divergence fanfiction: A Darkness Downed.

Reader-Insert Fanfiction Survey

Hi there guys! This account is just a throwaway so don’t mind the formalities :]

I’m an AP Research student, and my study is identifying types of reader-development that can be produced from reading reader-insert fanfiction. And just to clarify, "reader-insert as in the reader ("y/n") is placed into the story since this is more about fanfiction readers than writers.

If you’re between the ages of 16-25 and read reader-inserts on Archive of Our Own or Tumblr, it would really help me if you could fill out my survey! The link is at the bottom, and depending on how thorough you want to be about your answers, it may take 10-20 minutes (not all questions have to be answered). This is for a class so my survey went through an ethics review and every participant will have to sign a consent form. For underage participants (16-17), you’ll need parent/guardian consent and you’ll also have to fill out an assent for yourself.

Fanfiction has always been an interesting topic for me. While I don’t write fanfiction myself, I’ve been reading for several years and the idea of fanfiction itself and the community just fascinates me! I’ve read reader-insert fanfiction before and incorporating it into the subject self-awareness and development seems new to the fanfiction research community, so I aim to add on to the small (but growing!) list of works.

I’ll most likely be taking responses up until around mid-March, 2022. Please consider sharing or reblogging this, even if you can’t or don’t wish to participate yourself. I’d really appreciate any and all responses!!

Anyone interested in making a 3rd party app?

Given the current issues with the ffn app I looked for 3rd party apps, but couldn't find anything with the features I want. Are there any developers here who develop small apps as hobby who might want to help create a new app, by the community for the community?

Nothing big or fancy, I'm just planning something that can access the ffn website, has custom fonts and dark themes, maybe add custom filtering like "filter by complete and favs>200, sort by word count descending" so that you don't have to scroll through 500 fics to find what you want.

There's the open source FanFictionReader app that has some of what I'm looking for but it hasn't been updated in ages.

Just before I got into a reading slump (more on this later), I read eleven:eleven. For those who know my fanfiction tastes, I LOVE time-travel stories ( and stories about the Black brothers). But typically the time travel stories involve HP characters going back in time.

In this case we have characters going forward and I really love how that's changed the dynamic. So far this story has stuck with the stations of canon but I can't wait to see where this story goes.

Q: If you had the chance to go time travel - would you go back to the past or go to the future? Why?

A wizard in the family. Isn't it wonderful? By Serena_Sers

Okay so I love when fics just play with one specific trait for a character - in this case, Dudley's muggleness - and have it spin out into this new What If? scenario.

Interestingly, I enjoyed that Dudley was still a brat after finding out that he was a wizard. Keep in mind, I did absolutely want bad things to happen to him because of how much he SUCKED, but that honestly just means that the author did a great job. I also liked seeing this new take on how Harry would have ended up if Dudley had been a wizard.

Side note - this is the new fixed sort of background for Harry Potter gen fics - fics that are more romance heavy will have a different background.
