may i request a fluffy hc? this is a platonic relationships with the brothers during mc's wedding and then the brother's realize then they've known mc for such a long time and that theyre growing up as a human and like may be a small addition of angst. Maybe even some interactions with mc's spouse and the bros?
This, this right here - oh yeah
This just brings me back because one of my plot devices for a fanfic I wrote years ago was the MC leaving their husband at the alter because they couldn't say "I do" and ran off to catch up with the Demon they wanted to be with
Of course I keep all my things as gender neutral as I can but you will be in the 'bride' position but considering that this spouse is also gender ambiguous - the title doesn't really mean much. Also personally I wouldn't care if I walked the aisle or it was future partner. As long as someone does it then there's no issue.
Additional: I'm just a pasty white man whose only been to one wedding; my parents - so my only experience is a Christian/Catholic white people wedding - I just wanted to add this as I'm aware in other cultures and countries weddings are very different.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was your wedding day. A day you've been planning for years now with your spouse. They made you the happiest person in the world and you couldn't of asked for a better person to live your years with. Of course, You had to invite the most influencal people in your life to be your best man- well men.
That's right, standing by a priest was 7 of the most powerful demons in the Devildom. All watching you make your way towards your spouse. You were grinning, tears in your eyes. It was safe to say your spouse wasn't any better, jogging on the spot to finally seeing you. They couldn't believe how stunning you looked, mouth covered by their hand as they sobbed.
Mammon was bawling his eyes out by the time you took your spouse hand. He tuned out the priest as he clung to his older brother. Lucifer just stood there stiff, lips twitching as he looked to the side, hiding his forming tears. Levithan smacked mammon for being embarassing but he wasn't any better; you were getting married!!!
Satan was death glaring your spouse; hoping it'll sent a mental image that he will come for them if they hurt you even once. Asmodeus was holding Satan's hand, wiping his eyes before the tears could come. Not wanting to ruin his makeup before the pictures were taken.
The twins stood with their brothers, watching you speak your love and devotion to your spouse. Belphegor sniffed, leaning against his brother. Beelzebub patted his little brothers head, face cold as massive tears ran down his face.
They've watched you grow to become the person you are today through the exchange program and now you were being whisked away. Planning to stay in the human realm with your partner and live a happy married life. The brothers and Everyone else was absolutely shattered by this.
Diavolo, Barbatos Simeon, Luke and Solomon were all sitting on your side. Luke was much like mammon; bawling his eyes out hugging Simeon. Simeon was soothing the young one. Barbatos was holding his young masters hand, giving it reasurring pat's as he silently soothed the large demon. Diavolo sniffling and grinning as he watched you. Solomon was the calmest one out of Everyone but that didn't mean he wasn't going to miss you. No, he'll your adventures together and sad you're giving up being his apprentice for a normal life.
"it's okay to cry Lucifer." Mammon murmured, seeing his brother struggle.
But Lucifer refused. He refused to cry especially Infront of you. But what he didn't realize was the single tear of sadness and joy falling down his face.
They were all sad to no longer have you so prominent in their life but beyond joyed you've come so far. You found someone you love and they love you back. Your time at the academy has ended and your trips to the devildom will be limited. The brothers just have to rely on phone calls and being summoned to see you.
They grieved whilst they celebrated such a wonderful day.
Lucifer:
Stares down your spouse whenever he can
Big brother mode ™
Low-key maybe even high-key dad energy from Lucifer
He was in charge of making sure everything went well and was on time
Only accepting the best for his young human and willing to pay for the entire wedding
Even Diavolo agreed to pay for everything
He thinks your spouse is a wonderful partner but will forever be bitter how they stole you from them
"Lucifer, it's been a honour to know you and I want to thank you for coming to the wedding."
"yes, don't disappoint them or I will crawl out of hell just to rip your wind pipe - your atonement for breathing and speaking in their air."
"y-yes sir! I promise I will make (Y/N) the happiest person in the world until we both die!"
"or you mysteriously drop."
Mammon:
Has threatened the spouse because he knows your worth
Bummed out all of them got to be best man
He's your number one! Your first! Why are the others your best man??!?
he and asmo were in charge of the bachelor party for both of you and your spouse
Safe to say he got WASTED
"Oi human, I'm watching ya - one sad tear from them and you'll see how demonic I can be."
"i understand, I promise that'll never happen."
"Knew you'd be a good match! Now if anyone says something is missing, ignore that - do your partner's best man a favour."
Levithan:
Didn't want to go - he embarassed himself at the bachelor party
But didn't want to miss his best friend's wedding
He didn't want to ruin your big day because he knew he'd get jealous but to not see you or be there for you is just cruel
Also got wasted and cried to you about how evil your spouse is for taking you away from him
Almost fought your spouse when drunk with Mammon tag teaming with him
"I hope you're forgiven me now, I promise to give you summon whenever they miss you."
"or you could just let me keep my best friend.....make them happy please..."
"i will, I'd rather drop than ever hurt them."
Satan:
he was STRESSED
He was doing management with Lucifer and almost wrecked the place due to his brothers attitude
All he could do was read as many books as he could of marriage and just hope it worked
But he felt reassured knowing who you were marrying, it was their time to shine as a perfect partner and they did just that
Satan was one to stop his older brothers from destroying your spouse
"Hello, you did well with your vowels."
"oh thank you, Satan - heh never going to get use to that."
"Let's hope you never have to say my name whilst begging for mercy, I'll be keeping tabs."
Asmodeus:
He was the one who helped you pick out all the outfits and the dress code for your guests
Was very proud that his party was such a hit for everyone
Has flirted with your spouse and gets happy whenever they don't get swayed by his charms
Ready for all the marriage gossip!
Has teased about you two starting a family
"asmodeus, it's a shame to say I'm now married, your charm has failed."
"You are but one loss in my amazing track record, let's hope you keep up this energy or else~"
"I'm extremely happy with (Y/N), there's no need."
Beezlebub:
Him and the second cake hit it off IMMEDIATELY
he was all over it and it was a sight to behold
But before the wedding he was spending time with your spouse
He was making sure that they were the perfect fit, he trusted your judgment but he was determined to protect you
Happy to see how kind and honest your spouse was
"I have to ask, can you eat ANYTHING? I've heard so much from (Y/N)-"
"I can eat humans."
"I see....noted."
Belphegor:
Refused to sleep until the wedding was over
This man isn't effected by coffee but he STILL chugged it down in hopes he could make it through the whole thing
Did end up falling asleep due to the priest took too long talking
Lukcily beel got him to wake up when you were sharing vowes
Has told your spouse that he once considered genocide of humans
It was an interesting experience
"I'll kill you if you hurt them, you know I will - give them what they're worth and i don't care if that's the entire world - give them the damn world."
"I'll give them the world and the entire galaxy."
"good, I won't let you trample on them and give them less than that."
Lee Minho// How to win over the Ice Prince
Stray Kids Christmas Series
Scenario: Every year, a big Christmas party was hosted at the palace of the Lee Family. But this year, a special guest seemed to attracted the cold-hearted prince’s eye. Genre: Fluff/ slight angst Tropes: Strangers to lovers | Royal!AU Pairing: Prince!Lee Minho X Lady!Reader (Knight’s daughter) Word count: 10,3K Warning: This little guide will be divided in 10 steps and a fanfic story.
“Y/n, c’mon. We’re invited to that party! Besides, I thought you and prince Jisung were friends?” Your father sighed as he tried to hand over your ball gown. “He is, but we’re always attending these posh parties. They are getting old.” You whined. “And so am I, you should find yourself a nice young man and get settled.” “Dad, we’ve talked about this. I’m not looking for a relationship.” You sighed whilst looking at your father sadly.
It’s been almost five years, since your mother had passed away. It was on the twenty-third of December, which made Christmas time quite hard for you. She had caught a terrible illness that made her skin lose all of its pigment, her eyes would visibly be unfocused and her throat eventually got so swollen that it made her suffocate in her sleep. Your father and you were devastated, especially since your father’s work finally had worked out for the family and he had became a knight. He had saved a village from a rival kingdom. He had saved many lives and sadly your mother wasn’t there to enjoy the wealth that your father had earned.
You didn’t live a luxurious life before your father became a knight. You lived in a small hut in the middle of the woods. You were home-schooled by your mother who was a teacher before she had you. They gave you everything, since you were their only child and they cherished your dearly.
You felt bad for your father at times. He was lonely and getting older and you obviously weren’t always going to be there for him and be able to care for him. That would be one of the reasons why you weren’t with anyone and besides that, guys weren’t that attracted to you since you were very fierce and independent. Many guys you knew wanted a girl who played damsel in distress and you know that wasn’t you.
Your father had always taught you how to survive on your own, even when you are terrible low on supplies.
And now here you were, because your dad’s a hero, you had to attend these stupid, meaningless parties. The elite had nothing better to do with their live, other than spending their money on things, was something you’ve noticed through time as you had gone to multiple of these parties.
Hours later you had arrived at the palace of the Han family. When you met Jisung for the first time your dad had just saved the village and you were still very knew to the fact that you were living in the spotlight. Jisung was kind enough to welcome you into this new world. He showed you around the palace, he wanted a new friend and that’s what you became eventually. The Han family were the one’s who made your father a knight and he was happy to serve them since they were very good to you. They gave you a big piece of land with a great house where you two could live comfortably.
You were very thankful for him and you repaid him with your friendship. He told you that he was well quite lonely, yes, he did have a brother and his animals. But his brother was always off to do crown prince duties and his animals weren’t always having Jisung’s shit. Jisung found it a little challenging at the beginning of your friendship, but it quickly turned out to be a great one when the two of you got out of your shells.
Jisung also had this friend Minho, he was the crown prince of the Lee family’s kingdom. They were one of the most powerful kingdoms besides the Bang family’s and the Kim’s family. Minho was an only child, just like you and it kind of showed. He was antisocial, didn’t know how to share or how to interact to other people. Jisung didn’t know how he got Minho to open up to him, but he did. Minho was known as a coldheartedly prince who rejected almost everyone who tried to get close to him. His past girlfriends tried to loosen him up and melt his heart, but it didn’t seem to work. They told everyone that he was a problematic know-it-all, who didn’t seemed like he cared about anything.
You met Minho a couple of times and you gladly believed his past girlfriends. When you were introduced to him, you hoped that he would open up eventually like Jisung did, but when it came to Minho, he didn’t. He didn’t even bother to look you in the eye when you politely bowed to him. You saw him roll his eyes before passing you. “Trust me, he’s kinder that he seems.” Jisung tried to convince you at first, you wanted to see it for yourself, but Minho didn’t seem to be any different from how his ex-girlfriends made him look like.
Step one: Don’t let him walk over you
You were talking with Jisung when the guards had announced that the Lee family had arrived. Minho had his head held up high as he made his way through the room. Your father quickly went to your side as you were introduced as usual to the family. His parents nodded kindly after you bowed, Minho on the other hand just scoffed and rolled his eyes. “Don’t think that you’re special.” He muttered under his breath, but you heard him “I don’t care what you think of me, but my father is a hard-working man if you aren’t able to see that or acknowledge that, you must be blind or simply not very bright.” Your harsh tone and words horrified your father who quickly apologises to the Lee family. You in the mean time had walked off, leaving Jisung chuckling and Minho speechless, as well as his parents. You left an impression and he didn’t know what to do with it. He had seen you around, he had seen you talk and laugh with Jisung at parties, but that would be it. He wasn’t going to lie when he thought that you seemed like a gold digger, someone who wanted to live higher up. But you standing up for your father like that against a royal family without hesitation gave of a powerful vibe that you held.
Minho had his eyes on you for the rest of the night. You thought he did so he could plan his revenge on you for humiliating him in public, so you decided to avoid him at all costs and stay close to Jisung. Since they were friends too and he could protect you from Minho, who fortunately for you had a soft spot for the squirrel-like boy.
You were laughing and messing around with Jisung as you judged people’s outfits. “That woman looks like a walking bird.” You whispered to your friend as a woman with a feathered dress walked pass. “Shut up she’ll hear you!” Jisung laughed. “The swans are quaking.” You laughed. “More like quacking.” Jisung whispered, making you wheeze. “Jisung stop-“ “’Where the frick is that bitch who got my clothes- there she is what’s up ducker!’” Jisung and you were now laughing your asses off, receiving a weird look form the swan lady, making the two of you laugh even harder.
All of the sudden Minho was stood in front of the two of you. You sighed at the fact that your fun moment with Jisung was now ruined and you excused yourself from the two before walking off. “What’s up with her?” Minho asked his good friend as he gave him a drink. “Nothing much, why?” “Well, she doesn’t seem to really like me.” “That doesn’t really surprise me, you aren’t the nicest to her.” Jisung tried to explain. “What do you mean?” Minho says in confusion. “Oh my God you don’t even see it.” Jisung laughed feeling dumbfounded.
Minho laughed along, but still feeling confused. “What is it?” He asked Jisung. “You’re just a dick to her, she also doesn’t know why. We’ve known each other now for years. She thought that you would open up after a while.” “You know how I am with new people.” “I know, but c’mon Minho. Five years, you’ve known her for five years. Also, what makes you so interested in her all of the sudden?” Jisung smirked whilst wiggling his eyebrows.
“Nothing special, she just left an impression?” “What? Her putting you in your place did?” Jisung laughed, receiving a punch in his arm from his friend. “Shut up. I was planning on inviting her to our annual Christmas party.” Minho admitted. “Oh, I don’t think that would be the greatest idea.” Jisung said. “Why so.” “You really need to listen when she’s talking bro.” Jisung sighed before explaining to Minho that you had lost someone dear around Christmas time and that celebrating it was very difficult for you. “I could be good for them? I don’t know, you will be there.” “Why are you so interested in her? Are you starting to crush on her or something?” “What no, I don’t- my mom’s calling me. See you later.” Minho stuttered before walking off.
You were at home, a few days after the party, your father was decorating the Christmas tree whilst you were working in the garden to get some fresh vegetables for supper. You suddenly heard your father call for you and when you got back inside you heard someone ride away on a horse and your father was holding an envelope. It looked like an invite, but you didn’t recognise the wax stamp.
Your father did and opened the letter excitedly. ‘… you are invited to the annual Christmas ball at the palace of the royal Lee family.” You looked at your dad in shock. “Why would they invite us?” You ask your dad in shock and confusion. “I don’t know, especially since you insulted the young prince.” “He was the one who insulted you dad, you didn’t deserve to be disrespected like that. You’ve worked too hard for that. Which is why I’m not going.” “Don’t be crazy. You are supposed to come with me. It literally says our names.” He laughed, making you smile slightly. “It’s a Christmas party though dad.” You muttered. He sighed softly before walking closer to you.
He hugged you tightly as he spoke. “I know this time of the year is hard for you. It is for the both of us. But your mother loved Christmas and I think that she would want us to still celebrate it with her still living in our hearts.” “I get it dad, but it’s hard and I miss her. It will take me some time.” “I know sweety.” “But if you really want to go, then I will come with you.” You said, making your dad smile brightly. “Will you hold yourself back at the Christmas party for me?” “If Minho will act normal than maybe.” “We can work with that.”
In the meantime was Jisung at Minho’s place. He came over because he was bored and because he wanted to hang out, instead he was stuck with Minho and his little fashion show “I thought we were going for a ride.” “Sorry Sung, I have to fit my Christmas outfit. You know how my parents can be when they aren’t in control of every little thing, I do in my fucking life.” “Sir-“ “I’m not even sorry.” He said bluntly to the maid. “C’mon we usually ditch out for stuff like this.” Jisung groans as he laid back on Minho’s bed. “I know, I just feel different about all of this now.” “Why, because Y/n is coming?”
Minho didn’t respond to Jisung’s remark, making him gasp loudly. “Ladies can you come back later, I have to talk to Jisung.” Minho ordered sternly, making them bow politely before rushing out of the room. “It is about Y/n, isn’t it?” Jisung gasped once again. “Listen, I don’t know why I’m being like this, okay?” “Oh my God, you’re in love with her. This is so sad!” Jisung cried dramatically. “W-why- how- wait.” “This is a one-sided love-“ “Will you quit it already you doofus! I’m not in love with her!” Minho groans. “Then why are you making this such a big deal then?” “You’re the one who’s literally making a big deal out of this!” Minho scoffed. “Just tell me are you in love-“ “Let’s go for a ride!” Minho cut off his friend before grabbing him by the arm and dragging him outside.
The two went on a ride with their horses and went to the beach, which was covered in snow since it was the middle of winter. Minho had brought some food and drinks along with them as the two of them sat on a stump.
“Do you think she would like the party?” Minho asked his friend carefully. “You really are worried, aren’t you?” Jisung chuckled. “I honestly am. I don’t know why, after all I don’t know her that well. I mean you do, but she already hates me.” “You want her to not hate you?” Jisung questioned. “I mean, I guess it would be nice to know a girl who doesn’t talk shit about you.” Minho spat bitterly. “Just try to be nicer to her, she’s really great.” “If she’s so great then why won’t you date her?” Minho said in a mocking tone. “Are you jealous now? I would never steal your crush from you.” Jisung joked, before ending up in the snow because Minho pushed him off the stump.
“Just help me please.” Minho groans. “Alright, I will then. Just begin with being nice to her. Like at the party, begin from then on.” “I’ll try.”
Step two: talk back
It was a few weeks before the Christmas party, but there was a gathering where you father needed to be. There was a meeting about the security of the kingdom and about the new strategies they had come up with for the army.
That left Minho, Jisung and you alone in the living room of his place. The air was tense and the looks that exchanged between the three of you were awkward. You had a book in your hands whilst Minho and Jisung were chatting away. “Y/n, why don’t you join us, you’re so boring.” Minho teased. You looked up from your book and raised your eyebrow, unamused obviously. Whilst rolling your eyes you focussed your attention back on your book. “C’mon Y/n, don’t be such a stuck up.” Minho added with a smirk. “You literally have all year to be a jerk, why don’t you take today off?” “Pardon?” “What? Got a trouble with someone telling you the truth.” “Listen up vile woman, you know nothing. Why don’t you take your average looks outside and leave us alone.” “Look, your face might be good-looking, but we really should put a bag over your personality, because let me tell you something. It isn’t pretty.” You sneered, throwing the book on the side table and standing up.
“Did your mother teach you to speak with such a foul mouth.” You shot back around and stormed your way back to Minho. He had realised what he just said, he forgot that he couldn’t make such jokes with you and he knew he was going to pay for it. “Listen up you bastard. I don’t care who you are or who the fuck you think you are. You do not talk about my mother in any way. You have no right, understood? Never mention her again. So you better Shut your mouth or I’ll kick your teeth down your throat and I’ll shut it for you.” You threatened as you gripped Minho by the collar and pulled him up to your level as you stared deadly into his eyes. The guards saw the whole scene happen and finally realised that they should help the crown prince. “Lady Y/n, I think it’s time to go.” One of the guards say as he was about to escort you out. “I think so too.” You shot a glare at Jisung who kept quite the entire time, not even trying to defend you or whatever. You thought he was better than that, but you guessed you thought wrong. Minho was his best friend after all so you didn’t blame him.
Jisung sighed after you had left the room and groaned. Minho felt guilty already. “I thought you liked her?” Jisung whisper yelled as Minho ran his hand through his hair. “I-I don’t know why I am like this.” “You really need some help man.” Jisung sighed. “That’s why you need to help me.” “She literally hates me right now. I should’ve stood up for her, but I was too shocked by your dumb action. This won’t make her like you, you know?” “I am well aware of that, thank you very much.” Minho sighed as he dropped himself back on the sofa.
“The reason why she snapped this badly at you and why she doesn’t like Christmas anymore, is because her mother passed away on the twenty-third of December, this year it would be five years ago.” Minho hid his face in his hands and groaned at how stupid he had been. He felt like absolute shit and he wanted nothing more than to step into a hole and be buried into the ground. “You didn’t know-“ “I should’ve! You did! I need to stop joking around like this.” He sighed.
Minho started to grow a soft spot for you, something he hadn’t done in a long time. Not because he pitied you, but because you were so strong and stood up for the people who you loved when they couldn’t do it for themselves. He could admire that and he wanted to make it up to you. He also doesn’t know how deep he was when it came to falling for you, but he felt like he was already in deep.
After that mortifying day, he couldn’t stop thinking about you. He had people gathering information, in a non-creepy way, about the things that you liked and what your hobbies were. He would try to inform himself about the hobbies and make sure that your favourite things were at the party. He wanted nothing more than to make it up to you. He felt like he wanted to begin a relationship with you. He didn’t care if you would end up being just his friend, you were different and he liked that. You stood up for what you believed and he could respect that. He just felt like an idiot for realising that too late.
Step three: Show him your worth
Days had gone by rather quickly and you hadn’t bothered to speak to Jisung. You really were upset with him. It was the day of the Christmas party and your father had convinced you once again to join him to the party. “Are you really going to leave your old man alone at a party, with way too many people?” You hated it when he played this card with you, he knew that you cared way too much for him. You always wanted to make sure that he was alright, so you went with him.
You wore a beautiful ball gown that your father had bought for you with the money he had saved up in a month of hard working. He did some extra jobs to get extra money to buy you a brand-new dress in such a short time. You didn’t wanted him to spend this much money on you and insisted on paying at least half of the gown.
The colour of your dress matched the Christmas spirit, the rich Bordeaux colour popped lovely on your skin tone and the glitter that was processed into the dress was glistering beautifully in the lights that the chandeliers provided. You had never been at the palace of the Lee family. You were quite nervous and you wished Jisung was here to guide you through it. Even though some time had passed, you just wanted Jisung to make the first step to apologise.
You head your head high that night. You looked absolutely stunning and you knew it. And so did the guests at the party. When you walked were announced with your dad on your side, looking almost as handsome as he did on his wedding day with your mother, you walked down with a pokerfaced. You felt proud when the guard listed off the great things your father had accomplished whilst rescuing the village and the rest of his servings to the royal family. Not bothering to look at Jisung or Minho when bowed for his parents. His eyes wouldn’t leave your figure as you walked by with glory. His heart was beating fast and his mind was blurry, he felt like the only thing he could see and think about was you.
He looked at Jisung, he could read off Minho’s face the panic and nervousness. Jisung felt nervous as well, you were a great friend of his and he didn’t wanted this to end, because Minho had fucked up. He sighed and tried to calm himself down, the party literally just begun and he hadn’t even spoken to you yet. The music had started and your father had left you for a second to catch up with some people. You were in the mean time looking around at the people as they were dancing, chatting and having a good time.
Jisung was gathering his courage to talk to you, he knew you wouldn’t hesitate to cut him off and pretend you had never known him. You didn’t care who he was or what kind of a status he had and you proved that with dissing Minho in public. You could’ve gotten thrown into jail and it surprised you that you weren’t yet.
Jisung had found his way through the crowd to you. You sipped on your drink as you ignored him when he said hi. After a while he noticed that his plan wasn’t working so he just dragged you outside. “You look pretty.” He complimented. “I know.” You responded. Jisung started to rant about how much of a bad friend he was for not standing up for you as you just stared and listened to him. It was a little vile to let him feel bad when you were pretty much over this whole thing already.
You told him that it was fine and gave the poor distressed boy a hug. He was relieved that you forgave him, but he questioned how you felt about Minho after all. “Well, he fucked up. He could’ve had me around, his loss not mine.” You shrugged before going back inside, because well it was freezing.
At the rest of that moment Minho started to try and get your attention, by sending you drinks that his guard would deliver. He would try and get people to talk to you who would then try to bring you to himself. You wouldn’t fall for it, making Minho groan a little in frustration as he sat on his throne beside his parents. “Minho, why aren’t you looking for a partner at this lovely party. You’re twenty and you still single. You know you will be taking over the crown soon.” His mother states, making Minho roll his eyes as he was still focussed on you. He didn’t notice his mother standing up and walking up to greet some people. His dad tried to have the same conversation with his son, but Minho decided to stand up and make his way to Jisung. “They’re starting again huh?” Jisung chuckles as he offered Minho a drink. Minho hummed in responds whilst taking the drink gladly. “So, how is Y/n doing?” Minho asked carefully. “Well, she’s doing great. She forgave me.” Jisung said. “She didn’t forgave me, did she?” “Nope.”
Minho got it though. He looked at you once again and saw how beautiful you looked. You were laughing and talking to different people and it made him a little envious of them. He just wished that he hadn’t been such a dick to you, things could’ve been different. Maybe you would’ve liked him and the two of you would be together.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the king and queen would like to announce something.” The announcer called through the room as the music stopped abruptly. Minho looked at his parents in confusion, which quickly turned into shock when they announced that they had found a possible bride for him. He didn’t sign up for this. “…we think that miss Gwynn Hayden would be the best candidate for this. Therefore, we invite her to live with us to get to know our son better and begin a relationship that will unite our kingdoms together in the end.” Minho almost spit out his drink and handed his glass to Jisung who looked at his friend in shock. Minho made his way to his parents, when he tried to talk his father stopped him from doing so.
“Don’t stop this Minho, there’s nothing you can do.” He said to his son. “Yes I can. This is about my life.” “This is about our kingdom, stop being selfish.” Minho felt distressed and like he couldn’t breathe. He looked at the people who were staring at him, you made eye contact with him and you saw the overwhelming of emotions washing over him and you felt bad. As Minho looked you into the eye, he had an idea. He stepped in front of his mother and started to speak, even though he was told to be quite by both of his parents. “I will go through with the idea of princess Hayden staying and living with us, but I want lady Y/n to be there as well.” Minho said, shocking the whole room. This time making you almost spit out your drink.
“Excuse me, what for?” “I heard that miss Y/n has great life teachings and I would love to learn more about them.” You knew what he was doing and so was Minho of course.
‘Little shit.’ You thought to yourself before walking outside. Fresh air was something you needed right now to clear your mind.
Step 4: talk to him
You had been living in the Lee family’s palace for a day now and you tried your hardest to avoid Minho. “Please just let me talk to you.” Minho almost begged as he followed you around. You kept silent as you made your way to the garden where you just wanted to enjoy your tea in quite and peace whilst enjoying the snow. “Y/n.” He repeated your name like a little child who wanted attention from his parent. You put your tea down and sighed as you looked at him. “What do you want Minho?” “I want to apologise.” His words caught you of guard, but not really. You thought that he was going to make a stupid comment like he did the other day, you wanted to see where this was going. “I genuinely wanted to apologise for acting like a fool the other day. Jisung had told me about you and your family, he didn’t say anything bad I promise, I wanted to get to know you better and I know I should’ve talked to you when it’s about you, but I was dumb. I can’t reason why I am so dumb, but I really want to change- why are you laughing.” “I enjoy you calling yourself dumb.” You grinned in amusement. “I am very dumb, I’m glad you’re laughing, but I feel like shit.” Minho pouted. You smiled at him and turned to him. “You indeed are dumb and it really hurt what you said to me the other day. I forgive you though, since I’ve heard that you usually never apologise to people, so I kind of feel special.” You grinned.
‘Am I going soft for him?’ You asked yourself.
‘Maybe.’
Did you mind?
Apparently not.
“Does that mean we’re friends now?” “Hold your horses icy, I didn’t even know you at first. Let’s just say that we’re good right now.” “Good.” “May I ask you something?” You said in a serious matter. “Yes?” “Why did you really ask me to stay at the palace with you?” “Well, honestly. I wanted to talk to you and this seemed like a good and right now the only way, so I took the chance and seized it.” He laughed, making you wheeze slightly.
“Well you’ve talked to me, so now what?” “My parents want me to get cute and close to this girl who I don’t even know and expect me to marry her. I wasn’t even thinking about marriage yet. I didn’t even know they were going to announce that shit at the party as well. And tonight we’re supposed to have a dinner date and I’m not looking forward to it. I just want to sneak out and I don’t know do anything else.” “Have your parents always been like this?” You asked him. “As long as I can remember.” He sighed.
Step 5: Show him a different aspect of things
“Maybe they just want the best for you?” “If they really want that, shouldn’t they let me decide my own life choices.” “They should, but I bet they have great intentions-“ “I really don’t want to talk about this right now.” He sighs. “I’m sorry.” You whispered as you saw how uncomfortable he suddenly got.
“No, no. It’s not you. It’s just a sensitive subject for me to talk about. Let’s go do something. I want my mind to focus on different stuff. Got anything in mind?” “Well, there is this winter market in the Highbreach village-“ “Let’s go there, I have horses. Let’s go right now!” “But you’re buffet-“ “I have to get changed first, c’mon!”
“Wait what-“ You were cut off once again by Minho dragging you with him to his room, you were panicked because you didn’t know what he was up to. When the both of you entered his room you were greeted by three little cats. You started to coo at them immediately as they came up to check you, the stranger, out. Minho looked at you shocked, making you look at him back in confusion. “What?” You asked. “They like you?” “Yeah, I guess?” You laughed as you continued to pet the cats who purred in delight. “They don’t like anybody, except me I guess.” “Wow, I feel honoured.” You cooed to the cats as you scratched them behind their ears, making Minho laugh. He quickly remembered that he needed to change. When he came back you looked at him funny, he wore a blouse with a thick jacket over it, making him look like a regular person. He looked handsome as usual and you were happy that you got to see a different side of him. It was quite unusual to see a prince in regular, everyday clothes.
“Shall we go?” “Yes.”
At the winter market, that was about forty minutes away, well ten minutes away from your house, but Minho’s palace was in a whole different kingdom, so the ride was a little longer that you thought. “We didn’t had to come here you know? You’re going to miss-“ “I don’t mind. It’s boring anyway, besides I would have to sit there with a princess who I don’t even know, being expected to fall in love with her just like that.” Minho sighed. “I don’t even like Christmas dinners, they are usually filled with people who are bragging about their lives and achievements. Telling others how much wealth they had and well you get it, rich people talk basically. There always had to be someone better than the other, I’m not into that you know.” He added.
You looked at him and simply took his hand as you led him to the market. He was quite as he enjoyed the moment of affection. When you stopped walking, he looked at around in awe. There were tables spread out on the streets. Lanterns and fires were made for warmth. The people of the village sat together, sharing food and stories. You looked up to him and smiled.
“What is this?” He whispered, still adoring the view in front of him. “This is my Christmas.” You responded, receiving a surprised look from Minho. “Years ago, when my mother was still alive, I was a little girl at the time, since our family was small and she loved having people over, she came up with this idea of spending Christmas with the entire village. Ever since, it has been a kind of tradition. There aren’t really presents involved, but there is good food and live music. We would all dance together and sing along with one another, it’s one of the reasons why my mother loved Christmas so much. And it was one of the reasons why my father loves my mother so much, she wanted to spread joy and kindness with others and well it worked out. See it for yourself.” Minho had a small smile resting on his face as he looked at you. You were talking about your family with so much love, it was really heart-warming to him.
Suddenly he was standing alone and looked around where you had headed to, he saw you running towards an adult man, who happened to be your father. “Y/n! My child! What are you doing here?” He sang cheerfully at the sight of you. “Minho wanted to sneak out, so we went here.” You explained, before looking to Minho and signing to him to walk over to where they were. “Good day sir.” Minho said politely. “Your Majesty-“ “Please call me Minho. I’m a little undercover.” Minho quickly explained in a soft voice. Your dad understood and bowed slightly as a form of respect. “Sit down, there’s enough for everyone.” You father offered, which you and Minho gladly accepted.
“I hope the food tastes good, it’s probably not as great as the food you have at home, isn’t it Minho?” Your father chuckled nervously as Minho ate a bite from the beef and the mashed potatoes that were brought in front of him. “It’s delicious.” Minho assured him with a smile.
The evening went on and Minho enjoyed every second of being in your home village. After eating you went to the market part of the village, where you could buy almost everything. The two of you came across costumes for pets and you decided to buy some for his cats, since you didn’t had a pet of your own. “You don’t have to do that right?” “I know, but I want to. They would look adorable on them.” You giggled after you had paid for them.
Minho couldn’t take his eyes of you that night. He saw how much you had lighten up around these people, compared to how you were at royal parties where he often saw you. But he understood why, the same reason why he didn’t wanted to go to his family Christmas buffet. People at those kinds of parties were always up to something else. Minho had learned that in this village, things go different. There wasn’t a competition in between people, they weren’t striving for being better than the other. Here they were there for each other and Minho admired that.
It was getting late and the two of you were about to head home to the palace. Before that, you went to your father to say goodbye to him. You hugged him tightly and exchanged some sweet words as you said your goodbyes. “Your mother would be so proud of you.” He whispered, before kissing the top of your head and waving you goodbye as you started your journey back with Minho by your side.
After the two of you had arrived back at the palace, you sneaked through a secret passage, Minho had found, back to his room without anybody noticing. You would dress the cats in the little costumes and coo at their cuteness.
The night ended quickly and you were tired, so you said goodnight to Minho. “Thank you by the way. If it wasn’t for you, I couldn’t have spend Christmas with my dad.” You admitted softly before heading out. “It was my pleasure.” Minho muttered back as he watched you leave.
When you had left, he fell back on his bed and sighed deeply. The day was great and he couldn’t be happier, but he still felt sad somehow. A scene popped into his mind as he had closed his eyes for a second, where you were smiling brightly to him as the two of you were having dinner at your village. He smiled at the scene that now was a memory. He felt sad that that moment now was a memory, he wished he could be in that moment forever. He had never felt such joy. It made him wish that he never was born a prince, but born as a regular boy, who wasn’t expected to live up to certain expectations.
He almost jumped out of his skin when his door was slammed open, scaring the cats as well, making them run around in stress. “Where have you been.” His father’s voice boomed through the room whilst he stomped through it. “Somewhere-“ “You know we had a family buffet, right?” “Yes-“ “And that we had been looking all over the place for you?” “Probably-“ “Don’t get fucking smart with me young man.” “You’re the one who’s asking the dumb questions.” Minho whispered under his breath. “Excuse me?” His father snapped. “Nothing-“ “Where were you?” His father asked again.
Minho sighed and sat up to face his dad who looked absolutely stressed out. “If you will stop cutting me off, I’ll tell you where I was.” His father sighed and crossed his arms whilst looking at his son with a rather irritated look on his face. “I was outside.” Minho simply said. He wasn’t lying though. “Listen here. I know you sneaked out. The horses were gone smart ass. Were you with miss Y/n perhaps? She was gone as well all day, just like you. Must be a coincident, right?” His father said sarcastically. Minho gulped loudly, he was dragging you into his mess and that wasn’t supposed to happen.
His father could ruin everything for you and Minho knew how hard you and your father had worked to live a decent life. Before he could speak up again, he was cut off by his father’s ranting for the umpteenth time that night. “… and the princess had been waiting for you all night! She had dressed up and made herself look beautiful for you…” ‘Y/n, would never do that.’ Minho thought to himself. And you wouldn’t. You weren’t looking for people to like you by you acting pretty. Yes, you were looking for a reaction the other day at the Christmas party yesterday, but that was because Minho had been an arse and you wanted to show him what he was missing. And well he took the hint and went for it to make it up to you.
“…she looked bored out of her mind and you weren’t there to entertain her-“ “Hold up, I’m not someone’s babysitter. She’s a grown woman, right? Can’t she entertain herself and talk to other people?” Minho scoffed at the ridiculous statement his father had dropped into the conversation. “You need to know what to focus on, this isn’t a game Minho. You need to focus all of your attention, well what’s left of it on the princess, who you are going to marry. Get to know her and build a relationship so you two can become a good pair to rule the kingdom-“ “I don’t want to marry her. I never did! You and mother didn’t even ask me about my opinion about this-“ “Because you don’t have a say into this! And that’s period!” The king was furious at this point and left the room with the door crashing against its frame, scaring yet again Minho and his cats. The prince sighed and laid himself down again, he closed his eyes and wanted to remember the happier moments of that day.
And those moments were you.
In the meantime you were in your guest room, getting changed with the help of a maid who helped you setting up a bath. “How was your day lady Y/n?” She asked. “It was fun! Call me Y/n by the way, I’m nothing more than a regular girl with a blessed life.” You smiled kindly. “I get why the prince is very fond of you.” The maid chuckled as she helped you cleaning up your clothes. “How come?” You asked her curiously. “Well, you may have heard that our prince is usually known for being cold hearted, to be a heartbreaker or even very icy. Ever since you have been in the picture he seems to have changed.” She explains. “Please tell me more.” You asked again, making her laugh slightly. “At parties, he seemed livelier and more excited when he knows that you will be there, he always asks for the guest list to every party his family attends. He never liked parties, but suddenly he cared about his appearances for these parties, that’s when we started to notice that little changes about him.” “We?” You asked her, whilst she helped you with your nightdress. “The other maids and I, even the guards-“ She was cut off by a loud knocking, that was more like pounding, on the door.
“Miss Y/n, you are expected at the king’s office immediately.” The guard calls from the other side of the door. You and the maid shared a confused look, before you grabbed a robe and made your way to the office with the guard walking in front of you.
“You were expecting me?” You say quietly with a bow as you stood in front of the king. “I don’t know it you know what you’re doing, but you need to stop this little game immediately.” The king almost hissed harshly. “Excuse me?” You frowned in confusion. “Don’t play your little mind games with me, miss Y/n. I know what you’ve done with my son and I won’t risk you having playing those tricks on other members of the palace.” He scoffed, not even looking to you. “Sire, I really don’t know what you’re talking about-“ “You know Minho is about to be engaged to princess Hayden, right?” “Yes, but-“ “Then you know enough. You should not interfere into royal businesses miss Y/n, you could get yourself in trouble and I bet that you and your father wouldn’t want that.”
You wanted to talk back to him, but right now the king was the one with the power and you knew better than to let your mouth run at this moment. “No, we would not sire.” “Good, then I expect you to leave, first thing in the morning and to not return to this palace. Am I understood?” “Yes sire.” You said before bowing and leaving the room immediately, leaving the king smiling in satisfaction because once again he got his way, at least he thought.
When you had arrived back at your room Minho was waiting in front of it and it looked like he was about to walk away so you quietly called out for him. He turned around in shock and smiled when he saw you. “What are you doing out here? I thought you were asleep?” He chirps. “I-I was getting a drink from the kitchen.” You lied. “Why wouldn’t you call the maids, they could’ve brought it for you.” “No, I wouldn’t bother them with such a small thing, besides I’m capable of walking myself, aren’t I?” You joked, playing the whole situation off.
“What are you doing out here anyway? It’s late.” You asked him. “I was bored and you’re the least boring person here, so seems pretty logical to me to come to you for entertainment.” He wiggles his eyebrows as he said that. “Don’t try anything pretty boy, nothing is going to happen in there.” You chuckled before giving him a friendly push as you two entered your bedroom.
After some time together, once again, you noticed Minho being a little gloomier than earlier today. He seemed a little like his old self and you didn’t like seeing him off and uncomfortable. You were definitely not going to tell him about the kings words towards you.
In the mean time Minho thought the same thing. He wasn’t going to tell you the harsh things his father had said about you behind your back. He just wanted to spend some time with you and feel happy, even if it was just a moment.
Step 6: Use playful words
You teased him later that night for being kind of like a cat mom, which he laughed loudly at. “I would rather be a cat mom and adopt twenty cats than marry someone I barely know.” He joked, but it has a sense of truth and the both of you knew it. Minho had been resting his head on your thighs as he laid down. You didn’t mind, you enjoyed the moment as much as he did and you didn’t wanted it to end.
He was doing something to you, but you couldn’t describe what it was, but after spending hours together you for sure knew that you wanted more. And before the two of you knew it, it was already five in the morning. The sun would be rising at six and Minho offered to go and wait for the sunrise. You contemplated his request, but eventually agreed to it and walked with Minho to a place where the two of you could watch it together.
Step 7: show him the good in people
Even though the two of you had stayed up all night, you didn’t felt tired. At least not around him. You came across an old man who lived in a cabin in the woods, he had trouble with carrying the wood back inside, making him fall onto his knees. You rushed to his side and helped him up without hesitation, especially since Minho was around as well.
“Are you okay sir?” You asked as the man tried to get back on his feet. “I am, but I need to get this wood back inside, my wife is sick and the fire is about to go out.” He sighs tiredly. “Let us help you sir, we can relight the fire quicker if we help.” Minho also rushed your way to help carrying the wood inside.
After quickly helping the couple, they offered you a piece of cake, which was everything they had. You couldn’t accept it and told them that it was no problem. The man insisted to and you couldn’t refuse the second time, you accepted the gift and said goodbye to them before the pair of you kept walking again to the place that Minho wanted to show you.
You were just in time when you arrived at a cliff that viewed out onto the kingdom. The sun peaked out from the mountain tops as it rose. As you watched the sunrise, the two of you sat on a tree stomp together, his arm subtly behind you as you two enjoyed the moment together. Little did Minho know that this would be one of the last moments together. You had planned in your head, as soon as Minho was back in his room, you would quickly pack your stuff and go home.
“Thank you for showing a different side of humanity that I didn’t believe actually existed.” He told you with a smile.
After the sky turned from pink to blue the two of you decided that it was time to go back home. Minho looked at you as you stood up first to stretch, but you tripped and stumbled almost towards the edge clumsily. Minho’s reflexes quickly kicked in and grabbed your wrist and pulled you harshly towards him, causing the two of you to collide and fall onto the ground. He held you tightly as you laid in the snow, the both of you breathing unsteadily and quickly as your heart raced. You thanked him as you held him even tighter, making Minho gulp loudly and hoping that you couldn’t feel his heart pounding for you.
When you two arrived back at the palace, Minho said his goodbye to you, not knowing that you would be leaving before you rushed to you guestroom. You dumped everything into your bag and hurried out the door. You hesitated at a moment, you wanted to see Minho for one last time, but you couldn’t risk the king ruining your dad’s and your life.
Step 8: Accept fate
So, you left just like that.
Minho woke up hours later, caused by the maid who was the one who woke him up. She told him that he needed to get ready for his date with the princess. He groaned and got up to wash up. He was still tired from staying up all night, but it was all worth it to him.
When he got back, dressed up and clean, he asked the maid if you were awake yet. She looked at him in shock.” “Majesty, don’t you know? She’s gone?” She says carefully. “What do you mean she’s gone?” Minho blurt out. “She left the palace this morning majesty, didn’t you know?”
Minho’s head was spinning. How could you leave without saying goodbye? He thought you two were having a great time. It all felt surreal and he didn’t really know what to do. He felt like he was malfunctioning and it was all because you weren’t present around him. The prince stormed out of his bedroom and went on the search for his father. When he finally found him after storming through the palace for a good twenty minutes he lashed out on his father. “What have you told Y/n!” Minho yelled. The king simply sighed and went on with whatever he was doing. Minho shoved the papers off his father’s desk and placed his hands harshly onto it. “Tell me!” He yelled once again. “You don’t have to worry about her, you should focus on the princess remember.”
“I don’t care about that stupid girl, I want to know what you told Y/n and where she is!”
*Hours before*
The king followed you outside and stopped your tracks for a moment. “Remember, you don’t belong in this life. Minho is and will never be yours. You’re simply not good enough to be royalty material. I’m glad that you listened to my words and leave miss Y/n, I had expected something different. My guards will make sure you arrive home safely and not return, like we agreed, right?”
You had simply nodded and bowed, trying to hold back your tears as you were escorted out. “Can you take me to the palace of the Han family?” You asked the guard sadly. “Miss, I’m sorry I was ordered to bring you home.” “I live in their kingdom and I really want to see my friend.” Your voice cracked whilst talking. “Miss-“ “Please?” You cried softly, he looked at you with pity and sighing before agreeing.
*Present time*
Minho and his father had continued to argue. Minho voiced once again that it was unfair how his life had been decided for him without him having a say in it, causing it to end up in a screaming match and Minho barging out of the room. He slammed the door shut of his bedroom and locked it. He childishly put his dresser in front of the door, so no one could come in.
He sighed and started to cry. The only time he felt actual happiness, caused by a person, it was taken away from him. He felt like it was just unfair.
Minho went on his date later that night with princes Hayden. Not because he felt like it had to be done, but because he was actually forced to do it. The date was boring and the poor girl wasn’t very talkative. Minho understood why, she also was forced into this. Maybe she wanted this, or not, but Minho surely didn’t.
Step nine: Fight back
The next thing happened so fast, Minho had little time to process it, but before he knew it, he was on his way to you. He remembered the way vaguely. He had hurried his way to you as fast as he could. He was looked frantically around in hopes to spot you. Minho wasn’t going to give up on you so fast. You weren’t like the other girls he had dated, or well was or wasn’t forced to date in hope for his parents that their son would finally marry.
He wanted you, that was for sure now. He had fallen for you hard and you needed to fix him. He wanted to be around you and be loved by you. He didn’t even know if you loved him back, but he was sure that you cared about him. The connection the two of you had was prove for it.
Minho finally spotted your house that you had shown him on Christmas day. He hurried his way to the door and knocked on it frantically. Your dad had opened the door and was surprised to see the young man in front of him again. He noticed that the young prince was still in his royal clothes and that he was panting heavily. “Where is Y/n?” Minho manages to say in between breaths. “She’s not here, she went outside to get some vegetables in our garden on the other side of our land-“ Your father couldn’t even finish his sentence before Minho had sprinted off again. He saw you kneeling down from the distance, digging something out from the ground in the middle of the snow. There weren’t many vegetables left and it seemed like you were gathering up the last ones from your old harvest.
You heard footsteps hurry your way and you looked up to your surprise to see Minho. You were panicked and got quickly onto your own feet. Before you knew it, you were swept off your feet and twirled around as Minho held you tightly. “Why did you leave? Why did you go without saying goodbye?” Minho cried. You wiped away his tears and just rested your head against his as his tears fell down. “It was my father, wasn’t it?” “Minho-“ “No! I will not stand this! I will not let him win this toxic game! I love you and only you! I want to be with you! I’m not letting them take away my only source of happiness!” Minho exclaimed in distress. You were shocked by his words and now just started at him, speechless. “I love you, I love how good you are to people. I love how you showed me the best of people when I had no fate left in them. I loved how you warmed my heart with your acts of kindness and bright smiles. You changed me, even though we don’t know each other for that long. I already know that I love you. I’m not letting you go. I will go against my parents if I have to-“ “You shouldn’t. They are your parents.” You whispered.
“See! Even when they are the most unfair people in the world you still see a reason of goodness in them.” Minho whispered. “We’ll get through this.” You assured him. “Are we?” “Yes.” You assured him. “How do you know that?” “Because I love you too.” You admitted softly. Minho looked at you in shock, which quickly turned into a bright smile before he leaned down to connect his lips onto yours. His lips were cold and soft against your warm ones.
Minho had taken you on the back of his horse to his palace. You were nervous to say at least. The king had told you importunately that you should not return to the palace. So you stopped Minho when you were about to enter the gates. Minho simply held you hand, he looked back at you and squeezed your hand in assurance. He had no idea how much it helped, but it caused you to straighten your posture and gain back your confidence you were known for.
You were greeted by the guards as soon as you stepped of Minho’s horse and you were already told that you weren’t allowed on the palace grounds. “She’s not a prisoner! Nor did she do something wrong!” Minho defended. “Majesty, we-“ “I don’t care who ordered you! I order you as the prince to let us go through! We have a meeting to attend.” Minho sneered as he held you closely whilst leading you through the crowd of guards who quickly made room for you two to pass.
You and Minho took a deep breath before walking into the dining room where Minho already had expected his parents to be. “Y/n! You’re still here! I though you had left!” His mother said cheerfully, obviously uninformed about the situation. “Mother father I have to confess something-“ “How dare you to come back here! I thought we had an agreement!” The king suddenly shouted, shocking his wife. “Dear, why are you-“ “Minho, you have a princess as your future fiancé, waiting for you. I don’t understand why you’re still hanging around with this girl.” The king says with loathing laid on his tone. “Because I love her!” Minho stated loud and clearly, causing the room to gasp.
His father was speechless but his mother squealed happily. “That’s great my love!” She chirped, taking you and Minho by surprise. “Wait what?” He exclaimed. “Honey, I thought that Minho was supposed to marry Gwynn?” His father said to his wife. “He was, if he wasn’t able to find love by himself.” “Wait hold up, I don’t get it.” Minho says confused, letting go of your hand to run his hands through his hair.
“Honey, your father and I made an agreement. If you weren’t able to find love by yourself, we would help you. If you would be twenty, the age of taking over the crown from us, we would arrange you a marriage, but you found someone you clearly love so I don’t think that would be necessary.” “So, you’re telling me that you were okay with me liking Y/n?” He asked his mother, still trying to process everything. “Of course I was. Why wouldn’t I be?” She asked. “Well, dad wasn’t so, I assumed-“ “You should talk to me more often, you know your father is quite hot headed. “Well, I wasn’t expecting this. I had this whole rant ready and now I don’t know what to do with the build up anger.” Minho chuckled awkwardly, making you laugh as well.
“I’m sorry son, the fact that you had to take over the throne soon, made me stressed and I guess I reacted it out on you.” “So you’re fine with me being with Y/n as well?” “I am, Y/n is such a sweet girl. I’m terribly sorry for what I’ve said to you. You’re a great girl. I heard from the maids that you made our son smile brightly again and trust us, we haven’t seen that kind of smile in a long time.” The king said whilst pointing to his son who smiled at you like an idiot. “I smile brightly, because I get to be with him. Thank you for accepting me.” You said politely as you bowed respectfully to them.
“No thank you dear for giving us our cheerful son back. We missed him.”
Days went by and it was now New Year’s Eve, only minutes away from it to be a brand-new year, which you got to spend with the one you loved dearly. Jisung was relieved that you and Minho ended up together after such an emotional rollercoaster. His heart was broken when you arrived at his palace with tear stained cheeks and puffy eyes.
You had cried your heart out of him as you spilled everything to him, but it turned out for the better. Right now you were talking with Jisung, until you heard people count down. You started to yell along with them until you were grabbed by your writs and turned around, causing to bump into someone’s chest. You were about to apologise, but your lips were sealed when a familiar pair of lips were connected to yours.
You heard people cheer and fireworks were being shot into the dark sky, lightening it up in process with bright colours as you and Minho pretended like you were the only two persons on the planet. “I love you.” He whispered against your lips. “I love you too.” You whispered back.
The two of you obviously didn’t get married right there and then, but people had a feeling that you would be celebrating next December for different reasons other than Christmas and New Year’s Eve. This gave you enough time to carry out the last step on ‘how to win over the ice prince’:
Step ten: Fall even harder for him
Marinette’s list of Parisian Warcrimes (Or why I need to vent about all the bad stuff Marinette has done)
Yeah, I’m doing this.
People be talking on Tumblr about why Marinette is the best character in the show and talking shit about every other character, from Adrien so I think I'll do what I do best and piss off people.
You want another Adrien salt Fic about why he’s a stalker to validate your sensitivity to everything that triggers you?
You want another AU where Chloe goes full-on villain and asshole mode so that you can be just another Astruc stan?
Do you want another Lukanette fanfic because Luka is the ‘Better Adrien’ even though all he does is play a guitar?
TOO BAD! THIS TIME WE BE DOING SOME MARINETTE SALT AND WE GOING IN HARD! WE ARE GONNA BE RUNNING THIS BLUE HAIRED GIRL INTO THE GROUND THE SAME WAY THE FANDOM TREATED THE OTHER CHARACTERS!
THIS IS PAYBACK FOR ALL THE SALT FICS THAT HAVE BEEN FORCED TO SEE THAT DON’T EVEN BOTHER TO USE NATURAL LOGIC!
(And I'm gonna love every bit of it)
So without further ado, Marinette is sentenced to be salted on the following charges:
Having a planner that tracks Adrien's every location/activity so she can stalk him at all times and actively uses (Stormy Weather).
Using her powers to prevent Adrien from dancing with another person (yes, even if that person is Chloe) (Bubbler)
Stealing Adrien's phone (Copycat)
Reading other peoples letters, even if they did throw it in the garbage (Dark Cupid)
Abandoning Paris (Ladybug Origins) (Yes I know people are going to be angry at me especially for this one, but if Everyone gives shit for Chat Noir for doing the same thing in Syren, then Ladybug gets it as well. No double standards on this post)
Literally destroying Max’s hopes and dreams by beating him in a game entering a tournament just so that she could be with Adrien. I don’t care who was better in the game or won, Marinette had no prior interest in the tournament and even knew how much Max wanted to enter, yet still done it anyway the second she realized Adrien was there. Yeah, others will say its cute that she wanted to be with Adrien, but if she really wanted to spend time with him, all she had to do was, you know, ASK LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!!! (Gamer)
Ladybug not listening to advice on where the akuma is all because she didn't like Chloe. who made a small lie before to her. Yeah Ladybug, someone making a little lie to save themselves embarrassment is really valid enough of a reason for their opinion and advice to be worth nothing. And it caused another akuma, good for you. (Antibug)
Oooh, a big one...Marinette stalked Lila and Adrien pretty much all day, under the guise of ‘not liking liars’ (yeah right) and once she had a ‘valid’ excuse to pretty much ruin Lila’s chances of wooing Adrien (whether or not she had an actual chance is irrelevant) she transformed into Ladybug and ABSOLUTELY EMBARRASSED HER AND HUMILIATED HER right in front of Adrien, when she could have just pulled her aside and just told her off in private and quietly so that she wouldn’t do it again. When Adrien questions her says she did it with the excuse of ‘not liking liars’. (Volpina)
Not telling Fu who the book belonged too when questioned on where she got it. I get that this was an excuse to prolong the shows run time, but if you were going to bring this up in the show and pretend that what Marinette did wasn’t a big deal, then they shouldn’t have added it in the first place. (The Collector)
Not bothering to tell her grandmother the truth and sneaking off to hang with her friends. (Befana)
Ladybug leading on Chat Noir. If she really didn't want to go, she could have just outright said No and be done with it, instead of just a ‘maybe’. (Glaciator)
Ladybug Literally not telling Chat Noir about the Guardian or where the hell all these heroes are coming from. There was literally no excuse, Adrien didn’t need to wait ‘until he was ready’, he literally became a hero the same time as Ladybug, it wasn’t like he was ‘the new guy’ and Ladybug was ‘the more experienced one’. I can give this to Fu as well, but I still feel that Ladybug should’ve told him regardless from the get go, she trusted a man she hadn’t properly met until 1 season later more than her own partner who stuck with her since day one. (Syren)
Taking pollen away from Chloe... yeah this really doesnt count. I just simply liked Chloe’s face in Malediktator when she saw Pollen again.
Talking shit about Chloe behind her back then acting all friendly to her as Ladybug when she needed her to become Queen Bee. Not really bad, it's just incredibly rude. (Maledictator)
Again, the same shit as Stormy Weather, instead of being punished for having the planner that details every bit of Adriens day to day activities, she gets rewarded by the writers. Not so much a Marinette crime as it is and ASS-truc crime. (Troublemaker)
Snooping through Marcs Private book, annoying him when he wanted to be isolated, and just straight up not having Marc give him the script himself. She could have tried just bringing Marc to Nathaniel and showing him the script together. (Reverser).
Making a lie about organizing a party when she definitely didn’t plan one. Yes, even if she was going to do it afterwards and planned to make the pastries herself for the party. She really is a hypocrite when she comes to lying, even though that’s a personality trait the writer's press is the reason why she hates Lila. (Season 2 Finale-Catalyst and Mayura).
Sabotaging Kagami’s attempts at being with Adrien. (Animaestro)
Marinette telling her Grandpa that rice bread is better than wheat bread. Anybody who has tasted bread would say otherwise. Although to be fair I blame Tom for this and this isn’t really as bad as the others (Bakerix)
Marinette throws Chat under the bus by pretending she loves him and leaving him to face Tom when the entire thing was her fault. I know she did it to protect her identity, but it still was an ass thing to do, and Chat found Marinette in her own house, Marinette could have used any excuse, including but not limited to, baked goods. (Weredad)
Marinette... LITERALLY... TRIED TO BREAK INTO ADRIEN’S HOME... ALL BECAUSE LILA WAS THERE...if the fireman was smarter than most other characters in the show he could’ve literally called the cops on her, leading to her getting arrested and Gabriel (or even Adrien) filing a restraining order against her. That and she steals Juleka’s bike. Not cool dude. (Oni-Chan)
Marinette not making it very clear to Chloe that she can’t get the miraculous back under any circumstances due to her exposed identity, especially after Chloe claims she’ll need them again. (Miraculer)
Marinette sneaks into the boy’s party despite wanting bro time, all because she wanted another botched attempt to confess to Adrien. (Party Crasher)
THAT CREEPY SCENE WITH THE ‘ADRIEN WAX STATUE’. I dont want to talk about it. You know which one I'm talking about. If you don’t, thank god, but IF YOU THINK THAT WAS CUTE IN ANY WAY OR THAT ITS ADRIEN FAULT BECAUSE HE STOOD STILL, YOU NEED TO GET YOUR HEAD CHECKED. (god i still have nightmares) (Puppeteer 2)
Not really a crime, but talking literally all the miraculi when you only needed a few. What would happen if she screwed up and Hawkmot got all the miraculous, or lost a few for the Akuma to obtain? (Kwamibuster)
Marinette (or Lady Noire) being an absolute dick to Misterbug during the entire time they were fighting Reflekdoll, insulting Misterbug for misusing his power when she does the same thing and claiming Misterbugs usual job is ‘easy’. Yeah...no. Fuck you Lady Noire, go eat a cataclysm to the face (Reflekdoll)
Marinette sabotaging Friendship day for Kagami just because she didnt want the latter to see Adrien.. at all. (Ikari Gozen)
Claiming Adrien is a good guitarist when Luka is an actual one. Not a crime, just dumb (Desperada)
Giving a Miraculous to Adrien when she can’t even control herself around him and could be distracted (Desperada)
Being too cute in that picture Marinette and Adrien sleeping together on the train. Yes i know this isn’t a crime, i do like some stuff about her, i just think the pic is really cute. (Startrain)
(Look at it, they’re adorkable. Awww....)
(Wait, aren’t I supposed to be salty?)
NOW, for the biggest crime of them all...
Literally not confessing to Adrien even once. Aside from the fact its turned the ‘romance part’ of the show into a joke, Marinette not telling Adrien the truth already or lying about her feelings is the reason we have the ‘Marinette is just a good friend meme’. No wonder he thinks you are ‘just a friend’. THAT’S ALL YOU HAVE BEEN TELLING HIM.
My evidence? EVERY SINGLE EPISODE!!!
...
Ahhhh. Much better.
Well, now that I have successfully gotten rid of all that anger and salt and manifested it into a physical memento of my anger for this show and its main character, I’m going to relax while people get mad and triggered that I insulted the ‘Perfect Marinette’ and leave me angry messages. For all those that listened and don’t hate me or even agree with what I have said, thanks for reading my large amount of vented writing. I hope you have a pleasant day.
Let's hope for season 4 of Miraculous to be better now that Zag is back. The fandom knows we don't need another salty season.
#Miraculous Ladybug#Season 1 to 3#ML salt#A lot of salt#Marinette salt#Probably a lot of Marinette hate#AND FOR GOOD REASON#A bit of writer salt as well#A lot of ASS-truc Salt#Miraculous Ladybug salt
Posing: (Detroit Become Human Fanfic)(Connor X OC)
CH1 CH2 CH3 CH4 CH5 CH6 CH7 CH8 CH9
Summary:
Claire finally has the funding that she needs to do some proper research on the possible causes of deviancy, and with Cyberlife breathing down her neck she is more inspired not to fail than ever before. To succeed, she must pose as an android for thirty days and record what it is like to be in such a position.
It just so happens that an android that is designed to notice any human behavior in a machine has made his way into the same police station that she chose for her research, which means that she cannot let a single mistake catch his eyes.
Chapter 8: Red Interior Design
Chapter 8 on AO3
“Damn, you’re not gonna get any sleep tonight.”
The blonde sat upside down on the couch, playing a round of Super Smash Bros, swinging her feet back and forth. Her gaze didn’t leave the television, her green eyes focused on her character. Claire sighed in response and swung her gym bag that contained her android uniform onto the dining room table. It was getting close to three in the morning, and she had to get up only three hours later to go back to the station again. Yet again, Holly had pointed out the obvious in an overly casual way.
“A little more sympathy, please. I’ve had the worst day.” Claire admitted breathlessly, bending over to pull her shoes from her feet. She was so tired that it was hard to stand. The blonde on the couch glanced over at her and gave a joking smile, coming up with some wisecrack that Claire didn’t give her the chance to spit out. “Robocop found out.”
A smile spread across Holly’s face. She paused the game and clumsily flopped onto her feet with a loud thud. Tossing her controller onto the couch, the blonde met Claire and grabbed her arms excitedly, her green eyes wide. Claire had not expected this kind of elated expression, more or less hoping for concern or sympathy.
“So you’re done? Let me guess, you got caught and everyone found out and it got ruined?” She spurted, squeezing the dark haired girl’s arms in elation. “Yes! I mean... I’m sorry for you, but now you get to stay home with me for a while! And I don’t have to worry about you all day anymore!” She beamed happily, swaying from side to side. The blonde’s eyes scanned Claire’s expectantly and her excitement began to dissipate at Claire’s silence. The researcher opened her mouth and then closed it, not sure what to say in response.
Claire knew Holly wanted her to succeed. She knew that the blonde supported the cause and also wanted her books to be a success for the sake of androids. She knew that each time she did something potentially dangerous, including the social experiment at the hotel and the past five days at the police department, Holly worried herself sick. Knowing this didn’t make it sting any less when she saw her so excited that she may have quit. Even when it meant so much to Claire.
“No, I won’t be staying home… I, uh,” She faltered when she saw the disappointment and confusion spread across the green-eyed girl’s face. “Robocop and I talked about it and we worked something out. But that doesn’t matter now, he’s dead.” she admitted.
“Dead? And what do you mean by deal?” Holly asked, her hands dropping from her arms. Claire took a breath and tried to string together a proper explanation for Holly in as few words as possible, feeling ready to crash into her bed.
“When he found out, I offered him something in return for agreeing to keep my secret. I told him the very surface value of what I have found out and left the details for later. Thank you, by the way, in a month you’d have to be up for an interview with him… if he hadn’t been shot three feet from my face today.” Claire admitted and watched as Holly gaped at her in disbelief.
“You what? Are you serious?!” the blonde’s voice raised in pitch and volume. A flare of anger flashed in her green eyes only for a moment before disappearing to leave concern.
“You’re telling me you were close enough to get shot!? Claire, you told me you wouldn’t do anything dangerous, that you would be careful! Where were you anyways?” The blonde urged, a whine escaped her lips at the frustration building up.
“I wasn’t anywhere dangerous, just the worst thing happened at the wrong time. I was behind what I think was bulletproof glass. But hey, there’s something good that came out of this, right?” Claire beamed, hoping that promise of good news would be enough to ease Holly’s concern. She folded her arms over her chest and shifted her weight on one foot, reluctantly listening to what Claire had to say.
“Robocop won’t remember. We get out of any kind of interrogation, which is amazing, because after I saw him drill that deviant today, I don’t want him anywhere near you, Holly. I’ll just have to be especially careful from now on and stay as far away from him as I can so he can’t scan me. If he catches me again, I’ll just have to come up with something different or try and play on his curiosity in a different way this time.” Claire more or less thought out loud. It was easier said than done. Part of her knew that she couldn’t fool the advanced android with any amount of ease.
“What if luck is against you this time, Claire? What if something even worse happens to you and you cross the line? You can help androids in other ways. You don’t need to put yourself on the line like this,” Holly began, her face twisting with concern as she tried to express what she was feeling, her nose scrunching up slightly.
“This is all for me and I can’t deal with it if you get hurt. I want you to be successful, but this is… too much.” Her words trailed off and she looked at the floor.
Claire’s heart sank as she saw how much this affected her friend, to see Holly so concerned and upset that Claire could be hurt. It was touching, but part of her didn’t want it. She didn’t want Holly to worry or feel responsible. It was Claire’s decision, but she knew that if anything were to happen, then the blonde would blame herself for it.
The worst part about the situation was that the emerald-eyed girl’s worry wasn’t in any way misplaced. This was dangerous and often sacrificial in means of time, sleep, and often times even Claire’s health, but she found it worth it. Claire could suck it up for the sake of the research; having someone worry like this stung because it meant she knew she was going too far, that she could potentially hurt herself. Claire wanted to ignore that.
She didn’t want anyone to care for her like this. Not when she didn’t believe her sacrifice was enough to worry about.
“I’m sorry… but I have to do this, and really, it’s not that bad. I can do this, I know I can. Just trust me, okay? I know it’s hard, but after this month, everything will be back to normal for a bit and I’ll make it up to you.” She urged, trying to soothe her friend. Holly’s stern face collapsed and she thought over the words, daring to hope and be optimistic. Her folded arms slackened and she let out a sigh.
“Well…” she began but closed her emerald eyes in thought, considering her argument. “You’re not gonna make it till the end of the month if you don’t get sleep. Do you want anything to eat really quick?” Holly asked, already heading towards the kitchen. Claire shook her head and almost felt dizzy after the movement.
“No, I had a good lunch today for once. And besides, I just want to crash.” She admitted, smiling at the memory of being able to actually go out and eat lunch. For the first time in a while, she had spent her lunch in the company of someone other than herself. A tinge of regret tainted the memory as her thoughts immediately began to be filled with flashes of splattered blue thirium and dead brown eyes. Her smile faded as soon as it arrived.
“Then crash, dude. Come on, let’s get you to bed.” Holly offered, already leading Claire to her bed. Normally, Claire would always write the events of the day and the research down before she went to bed each night, but tonight was the exception. She would write the following day, probably first thing in the morning.
She hadn’t realized that Holly was pushing her into her bedroom until she flicked on the light to reveal the contents of the room. With a red, grey, and white color palette, the bed and furniture were a dark, cool grey and red accent pillows decorated the bed and the color was carried over to the lamp on her bedside table. The floor was a dark cherry hardwood and the white walls made everything pop. Some people preferred blue, green, or brown in bedrooms for the soothing nature of the colors but there was no comforting color like a scarlet for Claire.
She didn’t bother taking her hoodie or sweatpants off and practically fell face first into bed, hastily pulling the blankets over her head hoping to pull as much energy from what little amount of sleep she was about to receive. Shrouded by the thick, gray blanket, Claire had not seen the light be flicked off but was only assured that it had by the soft sound. Expecting to hear a soft goodnight from Holly and disappearing footsteps, she was almost startled when the bed dipped beside her.
Peeking out from under the covers, Claire watched her roommate give a troubled sigh as she scooted onto the bed, sitting at an angle with her face turned. She didn’t have to see her face to know that she was still troubled. The dark-haired woman opened her mouth but closed in to think over a better approach. Holly needed softness right now.
“Remember when we went to Target and almost got kicked out for turning on all of the singing kids’ toys? And then we went to that thrift store and tried on that ridiculous fur coat because it was the stupidest thing you had ever seen? That employee was so confused and asked why the heck I was allowing you to do that,” Claire spoke up, her voice soft and quiet. Holly turned to look at her and a small, bittersweet smile crossed her lips.
“Yeah. I remember having to wear a dumb fisherman’s hat to get into that fancy restaurant because it was the only kind of hat in the gas station across the street.” she reminisced, looking down at Claire. She had almost forgotten that occasion, but it was one of the first things they had done together. Even in her sleepy state, she managed a small laugh.
“We’re going to have times like that again, Holly. It’s tough right now, but I promise that we’ll do something fun. We’ll go see a movie or go to an arcade or something like that.” Claire assured, making sure to celebrate the end of the month by planning an event with her roommate. The blonde looked away, giving another bittersweet smile. A storm of worries and unspoken thoughts swirled behind her emerald eyes, untouched by Claire’s assurances. Still, the girl nodded and left the conversation there in order to avoid keeping Claire up any longer. The dark haired woman knew this and decided that Holly would bring it up later and not to push.
She was staying strong for Claire, staying silent for her expense. The least she could do was be patient with Holly.
“That’ll be nice. We’ll plan that later…” agreeing despite her own struggle, Holly pulled Claire’s blanket up to her neck. A spark of humor replaced her previous unreadable emotion “Now, I’m gonna lay here with you to make sure you don’t end up on your phone all night.” She didn’t offer but stated as fact. Usually, this would be a problem, but Claire doubted she held the mental capacity to even type something into a search bar. She gave a quiet mhm and scooted over, making room for the blonde to lay down beside her. Holly accepted the gesture when Claire tossed the blanket over them both.
“Goodnight and… thank you,” Claire mumbled, shifting to get the right amount of comfortable under the covers. Holly smiled and gave her the same mhm that Clare gave seconds ago.
As sleep speedily pulled her under, Claire relished the comforting presence of the body next to her. Holly was her best friend and could be her sister, her lover, anything more human if only a small blue ring of light was absent from her temple. It didn’t matter that she breathed only to look normal or couldn't eat. It didn’t matter that she never had to sleep and was exempt from sickness and all uniquely human disadvantages. It just didn’t matter.
Having Holly beside her as she slept was the closest thing Claire could have to having a sister, even if a blue light was what separated them.
Excerpt of a fic I didn’t know I still had
Vanilla Twilight - an excerpt of what used to be a ceo!JJK AU fanfic written at three AM somewhen in november. I don’t know why I didn’t choose names.
Neither do I know why I’m posting this. Good Night. WC: 2,4k
„As many times as I blink I'll think of You tonight“
It's been what? Three months now? Yeah, it must have been about three months since she told him „I don't want to see you again.“ Three Months since the love of his way too young life just stumbled out of it completely, three months since he's been drowning himself in work,
and yet, only two days since his father told him not to.“You need a break“ he said. „You'll die before you reach my age if you keep overworking like that.“ „Take a leave for the next week or so, the company won't go down in flames because you're missing for a few days.“
But yet it felt like the company was the only thing that held him together anymore. It may have been unhealthy to work that much, but sitting on his rooftop right now and starring at the sun that was setting wasn't any better. The company might not have missed him, but he missed her and if he was wide awake like that, from the lack of work or excercise to keep him from falling asleep as soon as he even saw a bed, it was worse.
There was nothing to distract him now. No means to make up for what he had done and no reason to not think of her this very second
on this very day, that once was so special to them both.
A tear ran down his face as he gripped the magnetic bracelets tighter with his left hand. Two years had passed since he's got his.
„If my heart was a house, you'd be home.“ they'd say. The compasses reacting to each other wildly, needles swinging left to right beneath the glass as the bracelets were pressed together.
At one point, after she left hers at his place that night, he stopped wearing his. Though for the time being, he still looked into the little flowery treasure chest in his closet to see if hers was still with his, Hoping she'd secretly somehow come to sneak in and steal it like she did his heart three years ago, or that it was all a bad dream and he woke up with her next to him like they did on every trip, or back somewhen two and a half years ago when she fell asleep in his apartment after watching some movie he didn't want to watch in first place. He still hoped, wished, dreamed he could go back to that.
And every time it was devastating. It was devastating to see her bracelet next to his, lying there and just pointing at the other as theirs would if they were within a few metres.
But she wasn't. And he had no idea where the hell she was. And it killed him. It killed him when he told her she'd never change, that he made her say good bye instead of letting her into his apartment, when he was the only one she trusted with her deepest thoughts, the only one she felt whole around and when she was the only one he ever really loved that loudly, and he didn't tell her until she walked out of his life,her still saying „I'm sorry“. When, to him, he was always the one that should be saying sorry for the things he said and did that night.
Or maybe they shouldve both just said sorry, talked it out.
He sighed „no.“ She made it clear that she didn't want to talk. She didn't want him to apologize, or at least not accept it. Letting her pride led by the pain get in the way ...and that was just what it was.
He created a hole in both their hearts and for a second he contemplated just throwing both of these bracelets down the 24th floor into the rose planted and flower filled garden, so he wouldn't find them even if he tried - and They could fall anywhere.
Another sigh from him as he clenched his hand tighter around the bracelets, holding them up as though he was ready to throw them as soon as the sun would have fully set.
But he didn't. He couldn't.
He just got flashbacks of that night when she gave it to him.
„I swear to god if you ever lose or break yours, or if I see another person with it, I'll kill you.“ she'd say smiling, but he fully knew she meant it. „There's only two of them“ „They were custom made.“ They were his blessing and now his curse. He looked up into the sky, somehow trying not to cry while it seemed like the same full moon from back then came to taunt him now, laughing at him with „Tsuki No Usagi“ laughing along at how pathetic he was.
But he cried. He cried a lot, clutching both of these bracelets over his heart. He couldn't do anything to them. He knew he wouldn't.
Except for the smell of her perfume on the couch pillow she prefered to lean her head on and hug, they were the only thing of hers that was still with him and he thought that maybe, just maybe...
in another universe he'd still be with her, with these bracelets.
And maybe in this world one day, he'll get her back, give her the bracelets and somehow everything goes back to normal. Despite the trust being broken, the wishful thinking didn't stop. A sillouette to build him up again.
However when he cried his last, he didn't mean to get up. Something drew him to the stars that night. All he got was a blanket before tiredly making his way back up just to continue whatever he meant to do.
He fell asleep a few hours after getting the blanket she gave him, on the roof that night, in between looking up at the stars, looking up at the constellations trying to find the ones she tried to show him before. Failing miserably, like tonight, two years ago, and almost laughing through the tears he shed, at how she showed him a million times and he still couldn't figure out all that astrology stuff, or how they worked, and so “well”.
All he knew was that looking for even the slightest signs of stars and constellations in the sky, brought him a little closer to her.
Maybe she'd be looking up tonight too, probably in a different timezone, to a different time, he didn't know.
But what the did know was that for a second, while actually finding the little bear, he was happy. „I did it,love, I did it.“ For the first time in forever while thinking about her, he actually smiled.
It was a weird feeling of, not quiet feeling content, but better, a little less sad. Maybe he'd always spend like three hours just ripping strands of his black hair out while trying to find anything in the sky. Texting you like he did that night.
“And love, you won't see it, but, I did it. I found one of the constellations, I bet you'd be so proud now. I'm still lost though. I wish you were here with me. To tell me about all of them. And your days. And you and what I missed And see your probably already new hair do and hear you laugh and rant about your literature professor. I just want to see you. Hear you. Happy. And mostly I want to give you your bracelet. I can't even remember which one was yours though. Please remind me.”
A lie. He knew exactly her bracelet had a little slit on one of the wooden pearls, as he accidentally lost track of the knife while cooking. He was apologizing so many times that night while she yelled about him almost chopping her arm off and he almost had to laugh again. She raged that night, but eventually they'd laugh about it later on.
„JK, I'd never forget“ he wrote below a photo he sent. Him wearing his bracelet for once while looking at how the compasses searched for each other. Knowing well the photo wouldn’t reach her though. That she still had him blocked, yet...
Wondering if one day she'd search for him again. Knowing she'd be the only one who could find him instantly.
„Good Night, flower girl.
I Really Miss you terribly“
„Sincerely, me“ he typed, deleted „yours tru-“ deleted.
„- The dumb ass that almost chopped your arm off about 16 months ago.“
If she could read it, she'd no doubt, be laughing but for now he'd hoped someone else would make her laugh the way he used to.
That she could focus on her studies and not the loss of him and the few grams she no longer carried around with her.
He wished her to be as happy as he can't be right now, as happy as she can be and with other, possibly better people, who would treat her well. Also that she got better at smash bros and mario cart so people wouldn't laugh at her being terribly bad again.
„Maybe I should also take on drawing lessons“ he whispered before tiredly closing his eyes „but I guess if she ever found out, she'd be the one to almost cut my arm off“
slight reminders of her telling him the only thing she was really good at was drawing and how she showed him and he really didn't figure out how anything worked at all flashed in his mind as he calmed.
„I'll teach you“ and only she could.
Well, technically she couldn't. He was a hopeless case and they both knew. Clowns. Clowns in love, for she loved him as much as he loved her, but the words always stayed unsaid. She'd make an impression that she did the night he ruined her, but he was too far gone.
Never from her mind though. He was still what she'd draw on the weekend when she was not in the mood for her theses or working. He. Though painful, was still her healing in some kind of way.
„You're working on that again?“ Her new dorm mate said as she sketched his face from memory. They had a different model in the art class she enrolled in right now but the face portraits still always went back to him. Much like the pictures where someone posed with scrunched up noses or peace signs.
She really didn't mind it though, for some reason, unless she found the initial sketch of their bracelets, drawing him was therapeutic, falling asleep on those pictures was therapeutic.
And her just getting a hick up as she started sketching reminded her „If you get the hick-ups, someone's thinking about you. My mom used to say that.“ She laughed back when she told him one night at one of their week-end trips, half drunk and laughing. Him responding with „Yeah, or someone talks badly about you, my three times divorced and landlord-hated aunt said. She had a hick-up problem.“
More laughter to the backround noise of „if my heart was a house” followed by slurred lines of „sugar we're going down“ and „american idiot.“
She chuckled quietly. „Oh shut up, I want to sleep“ her roommate exclaimed. It wasn't that late though, was it?.
Seven pm, still early, the sun not yet setting. Yet, with the full moon above, she couldn't wait for the sunset, night fall.
She stared at her phone. „Approximately 15 Minutes till the sun starts setting and you usually can't fall asleep until it's getting cotton candy skied, what's wrong this time?“ a chuckle escaped her mouth.
„Bad break up.“ the other girl murmured. „That's the 4th time in 15 days. I think you should get a new guy.“ - „That's also the third in a month. Love just doesn't work for me, believe me.“
„It will.“ The artist said. „Even if the person you think you'll end up with isn't the one, one day, with the right person, it all will.“
She didn't realize tears were falling on her piece of paper as she switched to his contact on her phone, contemplated unblocking him, but eventually she didn't.
It would be better this way. She said good bye and it was irreversible. It always was irreversible for her. Gripping her empty wrist and letting go of the pen for a while she smiled through the tears and said, in a cheerful yet shaky voice.
“Even if it wasn't him, one day, there's someone who won't leave, who you won't leave. One day, I promise.“
Not knowing if it was to reassure her friend, or herself and not realizing she held her breath, until she felt two arms and a blanket wrap around her signaling that „everything will be okay, precious, everything will be okay“
and for once, even without her telling the context of the story no one really knew about, she started to let down her walls and cry to let out the emotions all the parting had led her to.
Even if her friend didn't know or understand her infatuation with Jeons son. She just held her as though the fragile soul, whining loudly like a child that fell and came running with a bleeding knee, would break if she wasn't there to give her the warmth she deserved and obviously needed in that very second.
„You know, I miss him so much.“ a little inaudible whisper said and her friend didn't understand what she meant, but „shhh, shhh, it gets better.“ Came from her until her roommate fell into a deep slumber.
All she saw was the name on the display that wouldn't go off. The display picture looking quite familiar.
Name saying „Jeon Jeon Jeon“ and the caring one wondered if the girl had been catfished and dreams crushed by that person on screen, and if that was exactly why she blocked that number. Ideas about unblocking him and investigating filling her head but then again, as much as she wanted to. She couldn't just meddle in a broken hearts story, especially not her friends.
So she kept her theoretic, tangled and still curious thoughts, knowing they'd stay just that - and left the blanket above the girl that was fast asleep, closing the book with the drawing of the Jeon boy and replacing it with a pillow to slobber on, instead of the art she created.
„Good Night, lovely“ she said as she went outside to take snapshots of the sky, making sure to get her friends beloved constellations on camera, as the sleeping beauty usually did herself. Sneaking in trying not to wake the other up again.
„Good Night, dumbass“ the artist almost fully asleep whispered as her friend said good night the way he did. Some things wouldn't fade and her roommates complaints the next morning, for insulting her, though accidentally, would be surely be one of those.
It’s 3am and I have no idea why I’m posting this.
The Idea Of “Vanilla Twilight” is part of a ceo!Jungkook fanfiction I never posted because I usually don’t post my writing for..uh...reasons.
“If my heart was a house -” fanfiction was created on national novel writing month and is a full on trainwreck that might never be finished. The Name as Well as reasons for the writing & inspiration for the bracelet design is lowkey because “if my heart was a house, you’d be home” by Owl City was kind of their Song since they first met and they do be soulmates so... >-<
Said magnetic bracelets stam from the line “if my heart was a compass you’d be north” and basically have magnets pulling “needles” towards eachother whenever they’re close. (They’re custom made, which is why they’re that special to OC & him. Also expensive as hell and she’s a poor lit/art student.) It was partially brought up by OC in a former chapter after they lost eachother at a fully crowded market and didn’t find eachother again for about two hours despite being like 2 minutes away from eachother the whole time.
I don’t even know why I’m writing this it’s three AM lord help. Good Night.
How can you say that I am human?
For: @korra-of-the-south ´s fanfic: Spirt Talker.
Summary: Ta Ming takes over Bolins body, and Korra soon finds herself in a fight with one of her best friends. Lives is lost and Bolin deals with the aftermath. Written from Mako´s point of view.
Words: 5900
Warning: Death, blood and sickness (vomiting)
Mako sent a bolt of lightning from his fingertips. He gritted his teeth as he missed his target. Sweat was running down his brow, and they hadn’t even been fighting for so long. Out from his perpetual vison, he saw Korra go the avatar state. Mako’s gut grew with worry for his possessed brother. Although, they were fighting a spirit that had taken over Bolin’s body, it still meant that he could get hurt by any hit given his way. Asami was helping innocent people out of the area. Children screamed and adults quickly snatched the youngers to flee for safety. Even a few police vans had showed up, but they didn’t know what to do.
The three of them had managed to drag Bolin out of his apartment. He needed some fresh air. They all knew he could hear and feel other people’s mind and energy, but Bolin was clearly losing himself in this mess. It wasn’t until they had come down to the Ba Sing Se Mall to realize that is was a bad idea.
With all the thoughts and energy emitting from different people Bolin didn’t know, he quickly grew anxious. There was a parent arguing with their children that they couldn’t get ice cream before dinner, as the earth bender had explained when he pointed towards two children and a mom. There was one teenager worrying about her upcoming test. One boy that tried to cover his bruises with gym bandaged. Mako didn’t see any of this, but he believed his brother when he told them all this.
Overload; Mako decided, in the middle of the fight.
Bolin had been triggered somewhat, and Ta Ming had taken over.
One second his little brother was fine- a little on the edge, but fine- the next second he was glowing purple, floating over them.
Bolin was an incredible earth and lava bender, Mako and Korra struggled to fight him without hurting him too bad. They had told the cops and other backup that they couldn’t hurt him too badly. Which was difficult for the cops that had showed up since they were taught to avert any fight that threaten Republic City.
“Bolin, hey can you hear me!?” Mako yelled over screaming people.
Bolin whipped his head around and looked him straight in the eyes. His face was contorted in fierce anger- something Mako rarely saw on his baby brother. Eyes emitted purple glow, and Mako was unable to see Bolins green irises.
“Snap out of it, bro!” Mako called again, waving his hands.
Bolin trusted his hands forward and sent a stream of lava towards Mako.
Mako managed to dodge it, but his face was saddened when he realized that a part of the mall was melting into the ground. Terrible, heart-clenching screams erupted and Mako had to force his eyes open to look at the mess in front of him.
People had been hit by the lava. Some were lucky, they only got lava on their fingers and feet’s. Mako already knew that they needed to be amputated, but they would live. The worst was those who didn’t manage to get to safety, the cops who worked hard for their people, was hit by Bolin. They twisted and screamed in anguish as their body had been hit by boiling, hot lava. Some of them were already gone, their bodies frozen in twisted position as they tried to free themselves from the pain. People screamed louder, but Mako only heard blood run through his ears.
“Mako, are you alright?” Asami yelled from a building. Korra had gotten her to a temporary safety and was running to pick up the fight with Bolin. It took a second before Mako answered back that he was okay. At least physically.
“Y-yeah.” Mako answered and gave a curt nod in case she didn’t hear him.
Looking towards the avatar and Ta Ming, Mako could see that Korra struggled. If this hadn´t been one of her best friends, a member of her family, Mako knew Korra wouldn’t hold back anything. But this was Bolin, and it looked like Korra tried to tame him, get closer to him, instead of finishing him. The fire bender was grateful that Korra didn’t want to hurt Bolin, but at the same time he wished that she- they all- could figure out how to end this fight, so they could give first aid to the people needing it.
He looked at his brother. Last time it worked to talk to him. But he looked stronger now. Ta Ming didn’t hold back. The cops had tried to metal bend wires around his foots and arms to keep him in place, but Bolin had melted them. Some air benders had come with air bison to help the people out of the ruckus.
Mako ran towards Bolin. “Please, snap out of it.” he mutters to himself. Breathing deeply, he tried to steady his breath. It looked like Bolin hadn’t noticed him, which was good, because Ta Ming didn’t care about humans, or his brother for that matter. Mako was sure that if Bolin died while Ta Ming used his body, the spirit would go to the next one.
“Bolin, come on.” Mako spoke to his little brother and tried to imagine green, round, kind eyes and a smile that showed nothing but kindness.
Bolin sent a beam of earth Korra’s way. Korra smashed the beam with her fist and Mako was again surprised by the strength Korra and Ravaa shared. She flew forward and tackled Bolins body to a rooftop he was swirling over. She roared as she pinned him down. Mako quickly ran towards them and saw that the whole rooftop was crumbled in pieces. Probably earth banding.
Bolin grabbed Korra’s shoulders and a smug smile crossed the boy’s face. “You’re tough Avatar Korra. I should have possessed you instead.” He joked. Korra’s face flared in angers and Mako was sure the water bender wanted to punch that damn spirit, but she didn´t. The rooftop cracked even more and Mako could see that the building was crumbling in of itself.
“Korra, get out of there!”
Mako looked behind him. It was Asami that had called for her girlfriend. The building cracked even more, some windows broke into pieces. It looked like diamonds was falling when the light reflected it just right. Almost beautifully.
The building gave out a loud cracking sound before in fell to the ground. A cloud of dust filled the area and both Mako and Asami fell into coughing fits. When it cleared enough to get a decent look on the whereabouts, both the cop and the engineer gasped when they saw the avatar and Bolin standing beside the crumbled aftermath of the building.
Mako was surprised that Bolin didn’t seem to be in too much physically pain. Maybe that was Ta Ming protecting Bolins body- Mako was happy that Bolin didn’t seem to have serious injuries, but at them same time; he cursed that damned spirit.
Bolin and Korra still fought at full force. Neither of them seemed to be giving up now. Mako ran towards Asami. He scanned her briefly over. Aside from some minor scratch and wounds, she seemed fine. Locking an arm around her shoulders, they headed for their friends. With the help of fire bending, the two of them made it to ground zero.
Asami looked at Mako, clearly worried for the safety of all of them. Mako wished he could assure her that they all would end up fine. That they all could clean this mess up when they were done and return to the island for a late dinner. But even Mako wasn’t sure know.
The police force seemed to retreat until they could think of something better. Most of the wounded got help from either policemen or medics. Those who unfortunately was too close Korra and Bolin, lied there helplessly. Dead.
Asami and Mako didn’t look at each other before they started running to their two friends. As they neared themselves the eye of the fight, they both noticed that the ground seemed hotter. Splashes of lava was still boiling around them. The ground was ruined, even some water pipes had broken and streams of water erupted from the ground. Some wines were burnt to ashes. In front of them was a blur of tan and olive skin swirling around each other.
“Bolin, snap out of it…now!” Mako yelled over the fight.
“How are we going to get him back?” Asami asked when they stopped.
Mako looked at his little brother fighting against the avatar. Korra was strong. She didn´t give up without a fight. And she didn’t give up if it, epically, put others in danger. Her and Ravaa was one and her avatar-state had grown a tenfold since Mako last saw her put a hundred percent in. Bolin was strong too. And while he wasn’t born half spirit, he still had an inner drive to never quit anything, maybe even stronger than Korra’s drive to continue. As Mako thought of how Bolin was both physically strong and the only living lava bender, Mako though he understood why Ta Ming choose Bolins body to possess. He might have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, but lava bending was so rare, that there were a minority that had fought against one. Many people didn’t even know lava bending could be manipulated by “normal” human beings. Only the avatars had shown lava bending in rare occasions.
Mako almost signed. Of course, Bolin had to be the one to deal with all this. His sweet, little brother, that now was possessed by some sick spirit and fighting the avatar- one of his best friend.
“I-I don’t know, Asami.” Mako started. He flinched when Korra punched him in the gut and sent him flying. If that wasn’t going to cause internal bleeding, it was going to make an ugly bruise anyway. “But we have to stop them somehow.” Mako spoke with determination.
He sprinted forwards and caught Bolins attention when he came between him and Korra.
“Come on, bro. It’s enough now.” Mako tried to yell, but somehow, he could barely hear it himself.
Mako took a few attentive steps forwards. “Bolin, let go now. You aren’t in danger. I-I got you.”
Bolin stopped fighting Korra and looked him. Still angered and upset. He clenched his fist until they turned white with force. Bolins clothes was ruined. His jacket arm was ripped on the left. His right, covered in blood that seemed to come from a wound underneath. Other than that, Mako noticed that his outer layer had burns and cuts from his fight with Korra.
Mako stepped closer and Bolin put up his guard.
Mako sensed that Ta Ming was targeting him. He glanced to the side and saw that Korra was still in the avatar state, ready to back him if needed. Asami stood beside her, with a hand on Korra’s shoulders.
Mako took another step towards his brother. The ground cracked under Makos feet and the cop thought that if Ta Ming didn’t kill him now, melting lava seeping out from the ground would do. As he got closer to Bolin, he could hear heavy breathing erupting from him. Ta Ming had tired him out. Mako wondered if Ta Ming could exhaust Bolin until he couldn’t go on anymore. At that though, Mako was more than determinate to get Bolin out of this.
Mako reached for him when he was close enough. Bolin didn’t pullback nor reach back. As Mako rested his hand on Bolins bloodied fist, the older brother though he could see a part of Bolin under Ta Ming’s hands.
“That’s it, your bro is here.” Mako spoke loud enough so only the two of them could hear. Bolin closed his eyes briefly, but when he opened it; it still shone purple. He grimaced and then drew both of his fist back. He put his hands in his hair and screamed.
“Bolin? BOLIN!” Mako called for him as he rushed to him. He got his arm around Bolin and held him firmly as his kid brother fought for dominance over his own body.
Bolin coughed and sputtered as Asami and Korra made their way towards the brothers. Korra had finally let the state go and her eyes was once again bright blue.
Bolins eyes was another story. His eyes were screwed shut. The few times he tried to open it, Mako could see that the purple glow was fluttering under his lids. Mako kept muttering words of comfort and encouragement as Bolin just screamed.
A minute or two went, and Bolins muscles finally gave in. In a moment, the purple glow, the screaming and the cracking of the ground stopped. Bolin went limp in Makos arms, and fortunate, Mako was prepared. He never let go of him.
Mako sat Bolin on the ground and carefully lied him down. Asami put her jacket under his head. He frowned down at his passed-out brother. Korra immediately started healing him.
After a few minutes, Bolin stirred.
He whimpered as his eyes fluttered open. Mako leaned over, his hand reflectively taking Bolins.
“W-wha´ h´pp´ned?”
Mako helped Bolin sit up. Bolin rubbed his head with his hand. When he pulled it away, the earth bender kept starting at his blood-soaked knuckles. Mako rubbed his shoulder and back, he opened it brought some comfort and didn’t hurt his brother further.
Bolin looked around himself and scanned the era. There was still people getting first aid from cops and medics. Water benders volunteered to help the wounded…and the people that didn’t make it, was put into body bags.
“Guys, what happened?” Mako didn’t think Bolin had any energy to sit up, but he stood up. Mako kept his hand on his shoulders. Korra stopped healing and looked almost panicky at Asami. He started walking, favouring his right side as he limped towards the other people. “Come on, we need to help them.” Bolins voice was roughs and scratchy.
“Bolin, wait. Don’t move until we get a proper check up on you.” Korra sprinted after him. It didn’t take long to catch up since Bolin was at a barley walking pace. “You are hurt.”
Bolin stumbled over and fell to the ground. He landed with a thumb and winched as he held to his side.
“Bolin.” Mako called and bent down to assert his brother.
“Bolin?” Asami asked as Bolin wasn’t making any more fuss.
The youngest crew member stared at the place he stumbled on. There was a lump of something soft yet firm. It was clearly the back of a body. Looking around, Bolin must have noticed that the ground was ragged up. Most of the lava had turned to stone, but there were still some molten parts around. “H-hey, why is that person…” Bolin swallowed, hard. “Who did this? We need to find the person and-“
Asami crouched down at his level. She put a comforting yet heavy hand on his shoulder. “Bolin, Ta Ming took over your body and a fight broke loose.” She choked and Mako couldn’t decide if it was because there must at least be 20 dead people in the surroundings or if it was that this was Bolin. “You- the spirit- attacked the civilians.”
“No, no, no.” Bolin started to mutter. He looked at the people getting medical attentions. More ambulances showed up by the second. Air bender and bison were big help in the escorting. A policeman walked towards them. Mako recognised him since they worked on the same floor. He shook his head. The last thing Bolin needed now was interrogation.
Bolin suddenly gripped Makos arm. “Please say I don’t do it!”
Mako breathed deeply. He saw the panic raising in his brother and felt his gut twisting in sorrow for his brother. When Mako enrolled in the RCPD, they all got classes that helped them handle stress and trauma both for watching people get killed and killing. It was just apart as a cop. Bolin had never killed innocent people, and he even spared the bad guys when they were fighting alongside Korra. Mako couldn’t imagine the turmoil that brewed inside Bolins head.
Bolin started crying, and they all were unable to get to him. Mako thought of calling a van over so they could transport Bolin to the temple so he could be treated. Korra tried to heal him some more, but Bolin wrenched himself from her touch.
The spirit must felt sorry for Bolin, because Tenzin came when they needed him, as if he knew the situation.
The master jumped down from Oggie’s back and went over to Korra. His face was full of worriedness for Bolin. His robe was partly covered in blood, but he didn’t seem hurt. He had probably helped others to the nearest hospital.
“Korra, what happened?” Tenzin asked.
Korra had her eyes on the crying boy in Mako´s arms. It took a while before she answered, but Tenzin didn’t push either. “Ta Ming took over again. I tried to fight that spirit, but we all lost control over the situation pretty quickly.” Korra rubbed her own arm.
Tenzin looked apologetic for her and Bolin. The air bender scanned all of them. “Are any of you hurt too badly?” He asked, suddenly changing his voice to more authorised. Mako shook his head without answering him. Bolin was another question.
“We need to get him out of here.” Mako said. He threw Bolins arm around him and slowly got him to his feet. Bolin was shielding away from them all. None of the others tried to initiate contact with him. Tenzin helped the two bothers on the bison, while Asami and Korra walked after.
“The others?” Asami answered. Mako looked at the ruins of the fight. Most people had been transported now, and they were starting interrogation of the place. Cameras flashed from different news brands, that Mako knew were going to ask a tenfold of question to Bolin. The older brother decided to shield his brother for as long as he could. Korra would probably also be a target for the media.
“I think the situation is manageable from here.” Tenzin spoke up before Mako could do so. “Lets get you all to the Air Temple Island. There are much we need to sort out.” He said and looked closely at the Avatar and Bolin.
After they had treated all wounds and scratches with water bending treatment and bandages, they all settled for bed. The news was already on the case, from what they heard on the radio. The phone was constantly ringing, until Tenzin just decided to un-plug the thing. Something Mako was very thankful for. He was going semi-insane by hearing that ringtone repeatedly.
Korra and Tenzin had excused themselves for some time, probably discussion how to handle today’s events best as possible. Asami had distracted herself with helping Pema with the kids and helping other visitors. Now that Mako had time to relax, he didn’t use the opportunity. He felt fatigue slowly creep in on him, but the thought of sleep didn’t cross him. Bolin was an everlasting though in his mind. And since their arrival at the island, his worry had only grown.
Bolin had locked himself in the bathroom since he was treated. He refused to come out when Mako called for him. He yelled at Korra to shut up when she came to invite him for a snack. Opal didn’t know what to do, but she cried when she couldn’t even get to him.
Mako heard him cry behind the door that separated them. He heard him retch, Bolin was feeling sick from today. Mako felt his eyes sting. He felt helpless as he watched the wooden door in the middle of the night. He said to the others that they shouldn’t crowd Bolin, but it was clearly he needed help.
“Bolin, please open up…” Mako spoke quietly to the darkness. His hand hovered over the door knob. Bolin didn’t answer. He could hear quiet hiccups from the younger male. Tenzin had provided a spare key, but Mako refused to use it. He believed that he could get his brother out of there, or to talk to him, or somehow managed to just get him to calm down; without working Bolin up any further. Which he would if Mako decided to just barge in.
“Bolin?!” Mako spoke a little louder. He didn’t want to wake up any of the other air acolytes and travellers that stayed in the Temple. “Bolin, you need to open up. If you don’t want, please just talk.” Silence. “I promise it’s just the two of us. Which you probably already knew because you can feel out presence.” Makos speech ended in silence as his voice died down.
Mako stood there for some minutes, fidgeting. His hand had reached into his pocket and grabbed the key Tenzin gave him. Come on, Bolin.
Mako didn’t know how long he stood there in silence, but he guessed a while. About 20 minutes. He didn’t hear anything from Bolin. It was completely quiet. Again, his worry grew, and Mako started to wonder when he might actually get a heart attack from all this worry.
In the end, he put the key in and twisted it open.
Bolin sat in the small shower cabinet. He had drawn his knees up to his chest and had wrapped his arms around them. He shivered with unshed cries. Bolin had bit into his palm between his thumb and pointer finger, in an attempt to keep quiet. Mako looked confused for a while, not knowing what to do. Bolins eyes were red and swollen, tears ran down his cheeks in rivers.
Mako straighten his back and walked to him. He crouched down and tried to pull Bolin away from the shower.
“Don´t.” Bolin spoke. He removed his hand from his mouth. Mako saw small droplets of blood staining teeth marks. “Leave me alone.”
Mako singed when Bolin whipped around and tried to crawl back to his safety spot. Mako grabbed him and sat down in front of him. Bolin looked away from him and teared up.
“Please, just leave me. I am going to hurt you.” Bolin sniffed and rubbed his eyes.
Mako’s eyes winded at Bolins words. A day ago, a month ago or a year ago; Mako wouldn’t have believed those words. But the longer Ta Ming stayed in his body, the more control he got. Mako wasn’t sure anymore, even when he wanted to prove his brother wrong.
“No, you´re wrong.” Mako said, and he knew his voice betrayed him.
“You can´t be sure. You saw what I did today.” Bolin semi yelled at him.
Mako looked sadly down at Bolin’s hands. They were trembling. “Bolin, we need to talk about this. You can´t live in the bathroom forever. Korra and Jinora want to talk to you, they need to talk to you to figure this out.” Mako reached for his hands, but Bolin drew them away from him.
Bolin laughed. Mako looked up surprised. Bolin never laughed at him, he always laughed with him. He wiped his tears and smeared a little blood over his cheeks at the same time. “Talk, how is that going to help. I hurt people today. And you want me to talk about it.”
Mako looked at his sternly. “Yes, you need to talk about it. Not locking yourself up in the bathroom.” Mako snapped back. He was tired from the fight. Tired from standing outside the bathroom door all night. And tired of arguing with Bolin.
“I k-killed someone today.” Bolin started another bout of crying. “And not just one person, a lot. I hurt a lot of people.” Mako watched him double over himself, arms wrapping around his gut as he let out tearful sobs. “I feel like I might get sick again.” Bolin sobbed.
Mako grabbed him and guided him towards the toilet. Bolin didn’t vomit, which was good. Mako didn’t think he had anything in his stomach. He continued to cry for some while. Mako had learned from a young age, that when Bolin cried, the best help was to let Bolin cry it out and give him hugs and reassurance. It seemed like Bolin didn’t want that comfort now.
“Don’t any of you care about that. People died today because of me, and you all seem fine. They could have been parents and children, brothers and sisters, a-and-“ Bolin grabbed his head again.
Mako crawled beside him. He carefully put his arms around him. Bolin didn’t shake to off, but he didn’t lean into the touch. “Sometimes, you can’t save everyone. Sometimes innocent lives will be taken. It’s a part of it all. When things end like it did now, all we can do it to use our experience to the next situation.”
Bolin shook his head. “You wouldn’t have said that is it was the other way around.”
“What do you mean?”
“That-that if I killed someone we knew, you all would be upset with me. Just because I killed someone that we didn’t know, doesn’t make it any less important.”
“I didn’t say it wasn’t important.” Mako spoke to him in a low voice.
“What if some of the air bender kids were killed, what if it was Asami, or what if I killed-“ Bolin stopped and started Mako directly in the eyes for a moment.
What if you killed me…Mako though.
Mako didn’t know how to answer Bolin the right way. He didn’t want to answer. Bolin would feel bad enough if he hurt them, like he already did.
The truth was, that if Bolin had somehow hurt one of their closets family members; Mako didn’t know what he would do. Bolin killing another person had never been in his mind. It had never been a reason to think of that. Mako simply didn’t know how to work that thought in his head. He could never imagine Bolin killing someone close to them. The older brother could never imagine turning his back on Bolin for something like that. But he didn’t know, and that was why he struggled to answer.
Mako slowly turned Bolin towards him. “We all know that we could be killed when we fight alongside the avatar. Bo, there are many times, I think that I could get hurt badly or killed when I get a mission. And I know that it is a possibility that my colleagues can be killed too. There are too many times there’s an empty desk in the office.”
“How is that supposed to help?”
Mako guided Bolin towards his shoulder. The earth bender sagged against him. The older didn’t suppose Bolin had any energy left.
“Because, whenever we go into a fight; we know how it might end.” Mako didn’t think it helped Bolin. But it was the truth. Bolin clearly felt guilt from the life that were lost and the life that got wounded today. Bolin grieved for them all. Which wasn’t wrong, but it was a heavy burned to bear-on top of everything.
“I don’t know what to do, Mako.” Bolin wept into his shoulder.
“Bolin, I said it before, but we are going to figure this out. There is still a lot we don’t know about the spirits. But we all are going to help.” Mako knew none of their friends would turn on them. Korra had the physical and spirit world on her shoulders, but Mako knew that Korra tried everything in her power to get Bolin back to his normal, cherry, self.
Bolin cried for a while. Clinging to Mako. The older brother rubbed his back comfortingly. He briefly wondered what the time was. It was unfortunate that Bolin was awake when most of the citizens were in their deep sleep- which meant that he lost his chanhce of getting a few hours of rest.
“Bolin, you need to get some rest.” Mako spoke up after a while. Bolin seemed to calm down. His voice was scratchy and raw from all the crying and it looked like he shouldn’t manage to be awake and conscious at this moment, but he was.
“I don’t think I can.” Bolin said, still holding Mako like a lifeline.
“You have been awake for almost 24 hours. You need to sleep.” Mako told him, sternly. He might have sounded like Tenzin when he scolded Meelo for staying up after curfew, but right now, he didn’t care.
“I should figure this out. People are probably furious with me and they have a reason too. I practically ruined the town centre.”
Mako felt Bolin getting worked up again, and the fire bender wondered if they both had the energy to handle Bolin in another fit. But as soon as Bolin aggravated, he also deflated and sunk down. Mako adjusted him un his arms and sat himself towards the wall. Well, Bolin had spent both evening and night in here, what hurt a few more hours?
He guided Bolin towards his lap and Bolin suddenly lied very, very still. Mako knew he wasn’t asleep or passed out, his breathing told him that Bolin was very much still awake. “Let’s focus on the matter after you have rested up. There is no point of worrying about it now, we can’t get anything done.” Mako told his little brother as he reached for a spare towel and wrapped it around his brothers shaking frame. It wasn’t the best makeshift blanket, but he didn’t want to leave his brother in the state he was.
Mako ran his fingers through Bolins hair, something that used to calm the younger boy when he was little. When he looked down, Bolin still had a frown on his face, but at least he had closed his eyes. At least he would get a few hours of rest, even if he didn’t sleep.
“Mako?”
Mako looked down. “Yes?”
“I-f things get to out of hand. Will you promise me, that if you need to…” Bolin choked on his words. And the more he spoke, the more uncomfortable Mako got. “Will you, Korra and Asami- like- finish me for good. Promise me that. I don’t want to put people in danger like I did today.”
Mako swallowed hard, and suddenly he was the one feeling sick in the room. Bolin was asking him to kill him if Ta Ming got worse. Mako wanted to say; no. He wanted to believe that they could find a way out of this where they all could return to their normal lives.
It wasn’t like that. Those endings only happened in fairy-tales.
He knew if Ta Ming got stronger, they might have to end Bolin. If Ta Ming in Bolins body got too dangerous for the people in the city, the world, the only way out could be to kill Bolin.
“No, I won’t promise that. I can’t.” Mako swallowed hard again, and that lump in his throat seemed to grow more uncomfortable.
“But the majority is more important than me. It is stupid to just save one person when it will cost numerous of other people life’s.” Bolin choked out. He sniffed wetly and rubbed his chin against Makos lap in an attempt to dry his tears.
Mako never knew when Bolin got so considerate. So less…impulsive. Maybe, Bolin had grown when he was in the army, and Mako had just to accept that Bolin was an adult now. Accept that he saw thing more realistically than he did a few years ago. Mako had often wished for Bolin to open his eyes to the world when his little brother got too carried away with his ideas. But he didn’t want this to be the cause for that.
It took a long time before Mako managed to say a word in reply. Mako had early on promised that he was the one that was going to protect and care for his brother. Even though he had stepped wrong plenty of times, he still tried for Bolin. And now his kid brother asked him to kill him.
A moral dilemma could explain the situation, but Mako felt like this was something harder to crack than a case he got at the station. Bolin was right. If more people was in danger because of Ta Ming, Bolin could easily be killed by any bystander that wanted to end the madness.
Mako took a deep shaky breath. He felt a tear roll down his cheek as he cleared his throat to reply. “Bolin, I would never kill you. I can’t do that. But I understand that this could…will cost more innocent lives than today. And I don’t think I can ever accept that it had to end with you dying. I can never to that to you.” Mako felt like if Bolin died somehow, he would be a step after in the following. “If this get too much for team avatar, and someone else is ready to kill Ta Ming, if it’s possible to kill a spirit that has possessed a human body, I don’t know what to do.”
He put his other hand in front of his mouth to quiet down his sobs. What a cruel, insane thing to throw at a 20-year-old boy. In a way, he felt like Bolin had been realistic with the matter, and here Mako was the one that always though he was the realistic of the two brothers. Sounded like whenever Bolin’s wellbeing was on the table, Mako lost a little bit of his way to think straight.
“I think I will stop them, Bo. Even if you beg me not to.” Mako dried his tears, and dammit his eyes still stung. At least the mild pain was temporary. “You are my little brother, and there is nothing you can say that will make me stop helping you. Even when Ta Ming is in your body. Even when you feel like you do right now.”
He looked down. Bolin had finally fallen asleep. In the small window, Mako could see small strings of light seeping through the pale, yellow curtains. Moring once again. Bolin had fisted his pants in one of his hands, his other arm tucked around him. Mako still drew his hands though his hair.
Looking at his brother, Mako wasn’t too scared of what other people would do to kill him. But he was more scared of what Bolin would do himself to get rid of Ta Ming. His brother was kind to the bone, and people had already started mobs that wanted Bolin out of the city. They wanted him punished and somehow prison wasn’t enough. The people wanted Bolin to feel the same pain they had felt today. Mako wanted to tell them all that Bolin knew what grieving was, and he knew what loneliness was. They shouldn’t say stuff like that when they didn’t know him. The mobs were blaming Korra for being too weak in the fight. They just simply didn’t care that Bolin was a young adult with hopes and dreams and that Korra’s new enemy was her best friend.
That was what kept Mako awake. What Bolin might do to himself to help the innocent people of Republic City.
After A Reset Undertale Fanfiction
Before we get started I want to say that this was inspired by an artwork by @Deviant-yoshachu please go check them out. I really enjoyed their art. Now that that's over with, let's get into the fanfic.
It had happened again. Chara has been in control and sent Frisk off on a genocide route. Everyone from Toriel to Asgore had died, including Sans and his brother, Papyrus. He was the original universe, the first if you will, but that did not mean he was immune to resets. He never had the power to do one himself, but he had fallen victim to many. He never knew if it was going to be Frisk- the ever true pasifist- Chara- the genocidal maniac- or a mixture of both, creating a neutral path. This ended up being his most painful truth, seeing as he had to wait until he met the kid to be sure of which one it was going to be each time. This time he had gotten unlucky, ending up with Chara in full control over Frisk. He fought like he always did, but ended up in pain none the less. Whenever Frisk had even a little control in a run, she would always reset when it was over. And every genocide route ended in a reset from Frisk. It was a never ending cycle, and he hated it.
So his world reset- causing him to wake up in his bed three days before the kid came brought the ruin's doors. He sighed and got up slowly, still in pain from his encounter with the demon of a child. He waited a few moments for he pain to subside and stood up. Luckily every Sans and Papyrus in every Au knew about the other au's and resets, it gave the broken skeleton brothers a chance to speak to someone other than eachother that understood. So sans walked out of his room and knocked on his brothers door. He heard a mumbled response from the other side. He took a deep, steadying breath before walking in.
"Hey bro. How you holding up? That one was pretty rough." Sans said in his quiet voice as he came and sat down beside his silently crying brother, putting a steady hand on he talkers shoulder.
"Y-yeah... I'll be alright soon. She took me out pretty early on, I didn't see many fall. How are you, brother? I know she lets you wallow in it for a while." Papyrus said quietly, rubbing his eyes with the gloves heel of his hand. Sans nodded slowly.
"Oh yeah, I'll be okay to. I've had to put up with this longer than you, remember? This isn't the first time, and it won't be the last. I'll live. Let's go meet up with Cheeto and Blue, how about that? Never know, maybe Edge and Red will pop in too." Sans smiled softly, grabbing his brothers hand and pulling him up as he nodded. It only took a few moments before the two were standing in the swap brothers living room. Cheeto- Swap Papyrus- heard the fimilliar sound of the opening and closing of an interdimentional portal and smiled.
"Heya! Who's presence have I been graded with?" Paps smiled as he strolled into the living room with a smoke infront of his face. Said face fell when he saw the original skeleton brothers standing in the room with depressed looks on their faces. "Reset or your Chara?" He asked softly.
"Both. She went genocide and Frisk reset. It was a rough one." Sans sighed, flopping into the couch with a boney hand dragging down his face. The taller owner of the house hissed in pity.
"Ouch. That's always rough. Welp, you two have always been there for us. I'll get blue and get him to call Red and Edge." The orange sweater clad skeleton smiled warmly and headed for the stairs. The two broken looking brothers nodded in thanks and sat sadly on the couch.
Not long after, the skele bro's from all three main AU's were in the room, the classics being tackle hugged by Blueberry, this barely got a smirk out of them. So classic Paps was dragged of by his alternate selves to drown his thoughts in something sans probably never wanted to see his brother drink, but he let his brother do whatever. So the three Sanses sat on the couch. Blue was trying whatever he could think of to cheer classic up while Red just told him to suck it up, punching him gently in the shoulder. Blue scolded him lightly for that. The poor innocent fool even attempted a pun or two, causing him to since in discust at himself. It wasn't until he poked the useualy happy skeletons side-by-side reciveing a squeak- that he thought of an idea to cheer him up. He smirked mischievously.
"what was that~?" Blue smirked at classic, resiveing a wide eyed look and a short of realization from Red.
"I... Ummm... Crap." Classic gulped, getting up and starting to rush away, only for Red to do little blue a favor and grab his soul, keeping him still. "No! Wait wait wait wait!" The original squeaked as he saw Blue stand and walk slowly over.
"Thanks Red!" Blue smiled brightly before smirking at classic. "Trust me classic! This will do you some good! Can't have you all was now can we?" Blue smirked before continuing forward. Fell released the other skeleton as he saw Blue lunge, allowing Classic to get tackled to the ground with a squeak.
"Wait! Blue! Seriously! Don't you dare! C'mon! Gah!" Sans yelped, squeaking when he was prodded in he ribs. He held onto his dignity for exactly three seconds before Blue really dig into his lowest ribs. He TOTALY did not shriek. "BLUHUE!! Nohohohoho! Dahahahanmihihit! Cuhuhut ihihit out!! Gahaha!!!" Blue had suprisingly skill with this. It was making it all that much worse for classic Sans as he pinned his arms to his side's and squirmed underneath the alternate him, not that it did much.
"You shouldn't curse classic. I think that deserves a punishment." Blue tisked, shoveling his hands into classics armpits, causing him to shriek.
"NohohohoHOHOHOHO!!!! GEHEHEHEHET OHOHOHOFF!! Tehehehell thahahahat tohoho Rehehehed!!!" Sans cackled, pinning his arms harder to his side's.
"Hey now. Don't you drag me into this! Your the one under the fingers and I would like to keep it that way." Red growled, smirking a second later as a snort escaped the laughing skeletons mouth. "Jesse. He's really 'tickling your funny bone' ain't he?" Red laughed.
"Shuhuhuhuhuhut uhuhuhuhup!! Gah! GEHEHEHET OUT OHOF MY AHAHAHAHRMPIHIHIHITS!!!!" Sans shrieked, squirming madly.
"Oho! Did you just tell me to shut up? Well, now you're really screwed. I don't useualy do this, but you just insulted me!" Red growled playfully. He hadn't done this since his brother was just a baby bones, but classic needed it. Why not? While Red was getting up off the couch, Blue tutted.
"Oh my. Well, I would remove my hands... But it seems that they've gotten stuck. Let's fix that shall we?" Blue teased before Sans felt magic wrap it's way around his wrists and pull his hands above his head. Sans squeaked and opened his eyes wide, only to see Blue's eyes glowing. Sans was wide open! Just the thought made him laugh harder.
"NOHOHOHOHO!!! BLUHUHUHUHUE!! LEMME GOHOHOHOHO!!!!" Sans shrieked with a goofy grin on his face. He squirmed enough to flip himself over onto his belly, giving him a moment to breathe before Blue plopped himself right back down on-top of him, going at his sides. He shrieked and groaned in frustration through his laughter as it restarted strong. That's when he felt a second pair of legs pin down his own. And then his slippers started sliding off. Oh no!
"WAHAHAHAIT!!! REHEHED! DOHOHONT! GAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" Sans shrieked as Red started scribbling his boney fingers all over his feet. This made the edgy skeleton laugh.
"That's what you get for telling me to shut up!" Red laughed and went at his victims toes. All the while blue was chuckling and going at his sides and ribs.
"OHOHOHO GOHOHOHOHOD!!!!! NAHAHAHAHAT THEHEHEHE TOHOHOES!!" Sans shrieked before cackling madly. After a few minutes, he was given a break that caused him to fall limp and start panting.
"Are you happy or do I have to continue?" Blue smiled happily.
"Nononono! I'm good! I'm happy! Y-you can let me up now!" Sans yelped and spoke frantically.
"Mmm... I don't know... I think we might have to get your spine..." Blue frowned. Sans squeaked and started squirming again.
"No no no! Don't you dare! Not the spine!" Sans yelped as he tried to get away.
"Nope. Definately need to get your spine." Blue smirked, shoving his hands under Sans' shirt and started scratching lightly at his spine. Sans shrieked and immediately started laughing like his brother.
"NO! NYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! NYAHAHAHAHAT THEHEHEHE SPIHIHIHIHINE!!! PLEHEHEHEHEHASE!! STAHAHAHAHAHAHAP!!!! NYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" Sans cackled and squirmed, unable to do a thing about his torment. It lasted another five muinets before it stopped and his hands were released. He quickly pulled his arms around himself and curled into a ball on his side, panting and still chuckling.
"You good or do I need to carry you to the couch?" Red teased, looking down at the giggling skeleton.
"I... Hate you... Both... Ugh... That was awful..." He painted both Blue and Red laughed.
"You don't hate us! Besides, you feel better now don't you?" Blue smiled.
"Ugh, I hate to admit it... But yes... Thanks, I guess. Where did either of you learn to be that good at that anyway? I mean, Blue, your younger here aren't you? And Red! Your world is all evil!" Sans smirked.
"I, the magnificent Sans, am good at anything I do!" Blue stated firmly. Sans grinned.
"My world may suck, but I am an older brother. Even the boss was a little kid at one point." Red shrugged. Sans smiled and finally got to his feet, sitting down and watching TV with the others for a while. It's always good to have friends to be there for you when you really need it.
Ground Control
A/N Something to hold you over... this is a part of a fanfic I’ve been writing. Earth-1 Harrison (Not harribard) and an OC. Barry’s younger sister. Because plot points. Anyway, this is nowhere near done! I only have a few chapters done, but this was what I was writing for a long time. So, um, here’s chapter 1. Enjoy.
A/N Yeah, it’s this adorable little fucker. Enjoy (le gasp a bad word!!!11!!)
I can remember the night my mother died. I can remember it like I was yesterday. I still have nightmares about it. Waking up and running downstairs with my older brother, Barry. The lightning. Our father telling us to run and then Barry disappearing somewhere far away from me. The lightning going away and my mother lying on the ground with a knife in her chest. It’s the clearest memory that I have. It’s what inspired me to be my best. Not only for the memory of my mother, but for my father, wrongly imprisoned in Iron Heights. I graduated highschool when I was 14. College when I was 19. I’d been working at S.T.A.R. Labs ever since. Harrison Wells recruited me. I hadn’t even known that I was on his radar until then. The hope of doing good kept me going. And here, at S.T.A.R. Labs, I had the power at my fingertips. The particle accelerator that we were building was going to change everything.
I walked through the hallway, looking through all of the data that I had on the accelerator. If one thing went wrong, there was no telling what the consequences would be. I was quadruple-checking my work. I had to be sure that nothing would go wrong. This project was my baby. I had poured almost ten of my life into it. It would be a shame for something to break and ruin my career before it had ever really begun. I let out a breath. All of the readings were on track. All of the kinks were ironed out. We were ready for the opening tonight. I was ready.
I walked into the Cortex. All of the main techs were there. Even Harrison Wells, CEO. I supposed that it wasn’t that strange for him to be here, but he usually spent his time in his office. I walked past him, leaving the clipboard next to him. He nodded appreciatively. I moved to Caitlin Snow. She and I had met about a year after I was signed onto the project, when Dr. Wells recruited her to the team. Now, she was a close friend. She nudged my shoulder.
“Thought about talking to Dr. Wells yet?” She asked.
“I talk to him everyday. To what are you referring?” I turned to the screen, clicking a few buttons.
“Oh, come on, like you think I don’t see it. The flirty looks, touching longer than necessary… from both of you.”
“Well, have you seen him? Everyone in this office has a crush on that man.”
“Yeah, but he only reciprocates for one of them. You.”
“Nah, that’s just professionalism. Come on, you need to focus on your work and not my love life. I think that you just want someone to double date with,” I joked.
“You are such a coward.”
“It’s a family trait. Besides, we’ve got more important things to worry about than dating. Especially dating the boss. That’s, like, a serious taboo in the field we’re in.”
“Coward.”
“Yes, can we move on now? Do our jobs?”
“Fine. But I will, one day, get you to ask him out.”
“Yeah, I’m sure.”
I shook my head, but smiled nonetheless. It was sweet. She was trying to get me to be more courageous. No, it was more like she was trying to get me to have any social life at all. I had never really been looking for one. I had Barry and Iris and Joe. They were all that I needed as far as social activities went. Plus, I had work friends. Caitlin, Cisco, and Ronnie. And I supposed Dr. Wells could be a friend. We had had lunches together. A few dinner parties. All of them were for work. I still called him Dr. Wells and not Harrison. It didn’t seem right to call him by his first name. He was my boss, after all. I owed him my whole career. I was not going to jeopardise that because of a little crush. I had to be 100 percent focused on my job. I was 27. I had time for all of the other stuff later on.
I was more worried about Barry, honestly. He was way too worried about his wedding plans with Iris. I was glad that he had stopped looking for the impossible and started focusing on his life in the real world. He asked Iris out. She had been waiting for him forever.
I shook my head and turned back to focus on the screen in front of me. Everything was working as it was supposed to. I had been pouring over this data for months. If there was ever even the slightest chance of something going wrong, I brought it up with Harrison and we fixed it immediately. Of course, there was always the chance of this thing blowing up. I was praying and hoping for the best. I took a deep breath and set the tablet aside. This was fine. We were going to be fine. I believed in us.
My phone started to ring. I looked at the caller ID. Barry was calling, just like he said that he would. I answered.
“Hey, hey, bro. What’s cooking?” I asked.
“Not much. How are things down there?”
“Pretty much well.”
“That is terrible english. You know, for a genius, you can’t speak.”
“Shush you. Are you almost here? The conference is going to start soon.”
“Oh, right, about that…”
“No, no,no, Barry, you promised.”
“I’m working on a case for Joe.”
“Get out of it, I want you to be here. You can finally meet Dr. Wells.”
I heard Barry sigh heavily. “All right, I’ll do my best. No promises.”
“Fine. I’ve got to go. Love you, Barry.”
“Love you, too.”
I hung up and looked at my screen. Just over an hour. This was going to be fine. I took another breath. I knew the numbers, I knew the risks. I had gone over all of this and made sure that it was all correct. It didn’t make me any less worried about something going wrong. I had put so much time into the particle accelerator… if something happened today, my career would be over before I had ever even made a real name for myself. Harrison Wells was giving me a chance here. He had given me a chance when he hired me. I couldn’t screw this up. I knew that I wasn’t alone. Caitlin and Cisco had put just as much effort into this. Everyone in S.T.A.R. Labs had. We all had just as much to lose. I sat down and leaned back in a wheely chair. Hartley looked at me with a certain level of disdain.
Oh, did I not mention Hartley? Probably because he and I weren’t exactly friends. We weren’t even friendly. He and I had both been hired by Harrison at the same time. Hartley wasn’t a fan of the fact that I corrected his Latin pronunciation the first time we met. And every time after that, until he just stopped trying. I felt a little bad about that, but I also didn’t have to deal with the fact that his grammar was awful. That helped. Not to mention I was his supervisor. Sort of. I had more pull with this project. I was proud of that. I had worked really hard for this. I deserved it. I gave a little wave to him. Hartley turned away.
I would never admit it to his face, but I genuinely valued his input and felt bad for the way that his family treated him for coming out. If he didn’t have such a huge crush on Dr. Wells and didn’t feel a constant need to compete with anyone who remotely threatened him, then the two of us could have been great friends. I had a feeling that we still could, if we tried.
“Eris. Come with me,” Harrison called, not bothering to wait and see if I followed him.
I did.
“What do you need, Dr. Wells?” I asked.
“You can call me Harrison, you know.”
“How about after the particle accelerator is turned on and you answer my question? Please.”
“Thanks for the polite afterthought. I want you to come to the press conference with me.”
“Oh?”
“Well, you’re being promoted.”
“What? Since when?”
“Since the paperwork went through today. Congratulations, you’re now second in command.”
“I… what? Why?”
“Because I trust you more than the other people here. Late nights, early mornings, all of the things that make up a great employee. Besides, you’re highly intelligent and qualified. I’m announcing it tonight.”
“I, oh, thank you.”
“Thank you? That’s all?”
“Let’s just go.”
I could see him smiling, which made me smile slightly. It wasn’t that strange for me to get a promotion of this caliber. Afterall, I had been here for ten years. Almost. I was proud to accept it. It was just a lot happening in one day. I stayed close to Harrison as we walked through the hallways out to the front of S.T.A.R. Labs, where there was a gathering of people of all sorts; reporters, spectators, science buffs, people there because they wanted to be a part of history. I looked through the crowd. My eyes scanned over Iris near the front, ready to ask all sorts of questions. Barry was standing next to her. I was glad that he was there. He was a sort of calming presence over me. Harrison walked over to the lectern. The crowd cheered. I stayed a little ways behind, my arms behind my back.
“Thank you. My name is Harrison Wells.” This earned him more cheers. “Tonight, the future begins. The work my team and I will do here will change our understanding of physics. We'll bring about advancements in power, advancements in medicine, and trust me, that future will be here faster than you think.”
Even more cheers. I had to hand it to him, the man knew how to work a crowd. The people of Central City absolutely loved him. They had no reason not to. S.T.A.R. Labs was the premiere science facility here. It had brought about so many advancements and Harrison had been the mastermind of almost all of them. Harrison started speaking again. People were hanging onto every word. I was, too. He was talking about the future with such certainty. It was like he knew what it was without even trying. He was so confident about it.
“And finally, I would like to introduce you all to the woman who made all of this possible, S.T.A.R. Labs’s new Chief Operations Officer, Dr. Eris Allen,” Harrison said.
He gestured for me to take his place in front of the lectern. The people cheered again. I looked out at them and wondered how the hell Harrison did this all of the time. I could talk to these people. It was just words. I had charisma.
“Thank you, Dr. Wells. To be here today is an honour, it truly is. We have been working tirelessly for years to make sure that tonight could happen. There are endless possibilities and I would like to thank you all for being here and welcome you to the future.”
Yeah, that wasn’t nerve wracking at all.
I got off the lectern. Harrison and I walked back into S.T.A.R. Labs. I was only freaking out a little bit. I wasn’t a huge fan of public speaking. That was why I had gone into science in the first place. I didn’t usually have to talk in front of crowds like that, but now I did. I was probably going to have to get a lot better at making speeches. And making them longer. In my defense, I had had no time to prepare. Harrison and I went back to the Cortex. Ten minutes until the particle accelerator was going to be turned on. Ronnie and Caitlin were standing in a corner. I was certain that they were discussing something about their wedding. Caitlin shoot me a look that screamed for me to say something to Harrison. Well, maybe it wouldn’t be completely out of line.
Would it?
I would never know if I didn’t at least try.
“Hey, Harrison,” I said.
“Yeah?”
“Would you want to, I don’t know, grab a coffee sometime?”
He looked down at me. Why was he so tall? I was 5’9” and he looked tall. Ugh.
“Why, Dr. Allen, are you asking me on a date?”
“Yes, I believe that I am.”
“In that case, I have no other choice but to say yes.”
He smiled. I smiled. It was great.
The countdown to turning on the accelerator began. Harrison took my hand. It hadn’t occurred to me until then that he was just as nervous as the rest of us. He always seemed so level headed. It seemed impossible that he could be scared of anything. It was on. Nothing exploded. That was a good sign. It was too early to let out a sigh of relief yet, but some of the tension was relieved. Thunder cracked above us. Well, the accelerator was underground. We’d be fine. Harrison left to go get a bottle of champagne. I walked over to Caitlin and Ronnie.
“Hey, guys, finally ready to set a date?” I asked jokingly.
“We were thinking about two months from now,” Caitlin said.
“Well, consider the date saved. We did it. Can you believe it?”
“I’d like for you to have a little more faith in my skills, C.O.O,” Ronnie joked.
“Oh, please don’t call me that. I’m still Eris.”
“Yeah, but now you’ve got power. You’re a chief officer.”
“Don’t remind me.”
Harrison came back and we all celebrated. It was all going according to plan, even with the rain storm above us. I was pretty proud and basically ecstatic.
Until Iris called me.
She never called me at work.
A/N So there. There’s that. I mean, it obviously follows season 1. With a few Harrison twists of my own. But, yeah. There you go. Chapter 1. I hope you enjoy it. :)
Ello, people! I have a nice fanfiction for you all!
Man, I haven’t done any Brothers!AU fanfics for a LONG time, and after last one’s weirdness, that’s saying a lot.
But this year, I’ll promise to do more bros stuff, along with a fanfiction collab with a friend of mine, in which, one day that I hope we’ll have time to do! And I’m also doing a rewrite of Visiting Hours, oh how much torture will come to me :’).
So, this little story focuses on Chansin awaiting his 19th birthday! And this was supposed to be on the 26th last month, but I did some planning on it, and let’s just say, this is a pretty long story. The first one I did was doing one for that weird Spy!AU, that we won’t even talk about it here.
Trust me, this little fic is filled with fluff! So much fluff that you might die!
And don’t worry guys, nothing bad’s gonna happen at all! Nothing! This is a purely cute, innocent one-shot!
.....or is it?
Read it below, bros!
19
Staring at the clock from his bed in silence, Chansin waited patiently for the next few hours to end for the start of his birthday. His 19th birthday to be exact. He was so excited for this moment to come ever since he became 18 last year. Just two more years and he’ll fully become an adult. He could imagine all the possibilities that will happen if he became 21. He might get a job, hopefully marry his girlfriend, or even better: he could finally get the sword that he wanted from his brothers. Well maybe on his 19th birthday it will happen.
It’s been forever for Chansin to achieve that goal. He had proved to his brothers that he can be strong enough to get his own sword, even his training has paid off! He became less like a stick and more like a true swordsman. Sure he wasn’t that built as Sheen, but he’s getting closer to Gleam’s size. He truly enjoys it when Sheen envies him of his newly-developed chest.
But he started to wonder if he will get that chance. To finally get his own chosen sword and fight alongside his brothers against any crazy enemies they come across. Chansin really loves being with his brothers the most, as they make him feel comfortable when they’re together. He would even admit that being together with Sheen is great too. For some reason, whenever they share some bonding time, he feels like he isn’t all left out. With them, he feels whole…
He doesn’t want to think that they feel like he’s not a part of them. That can’t be true. He may not be similar to them, but he’s such a unique brother, how can they even leave him out? It’s easily one of his biggest fears that he prayed to god it will never happen. Or would it…?
While staring at the clock in silence, his stomach started to growl. Perhaps that ramen he had for dinner wasn’t enough to fill him up. He then decided to head downstairs to get himself a quick snack. Even though he was a bit of a big eater, Chansin somehow managed to maintain his perfectly-built abs in his body. That’s one of the weird things from him that Sheen just wants to find out about. As he went down to the living room, he spotted all three of his brothers talking together on the sofas.
For some reason, all three of them looked a bit serious, like something bad happened. Chansin felt a bit confused, nothing wrong happened today. What were they talking about? He suggests that it might be another Oni situation. While Gleam was talking with them, he lightly gasped once he sees Chansin coming down the stairs, watching them. He got rid of his worried look and replaced it with his usual, warm smile.
“Why hello, little brother!” He greeted him. “How are you?”
Chansin smiled for a bit. “Feeling good. I’m still hungry, so I’ll warm up some takoyaki from the fridge.”
“Ah, I see. I suspected that the ramen you had didn’t filled you up yet.” his older brother then asked. “Do you want me to warm it up for you?”
“Nah, it’s okay. I got this.” Chansin simply inserted his favorite snack into the microwave and waited for it to heat up.
While waiting for the food, he can’t help but stare at his brothers for a bit. All three of them seemed to be concerned about something before Chansin came in, but now they feel relaxed all of a sudden. Were they keeping something from him?
His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of beeping from the microwave. Taking out the takoyaki, it felt nice and hot, as the young gambler was eager to take a nice bite out of them. Getting a pair of chopsticks from the counter, he savored a bite of one of the octopus balls as he moaned in delight. He can’t help it. Takoyaki always tasted so good to him.
Looking back at his brothers, He decided to go up there and sit beside them from a small couch. Taking another large bite of an octopus ball. “So uh, is it cool if I would hang with you guys for a bit?”
The three brothers looked at each other for a minute, until they turned back to their younger brother with a similar answer. “Why of course!” Gleam said with a smile.
Snee just nodded, though he did spoke up with an audible “Sure.”
And Sheen of course just rolled his eyes while making a small huff. “Uh yeah, why not?” Though he wanted to chance the subject, he didn’t even have time to be chided by either his older brothers for his selfishness.
Chansin shrugged. "Okay.” he said before taking another bite of his snack.
For the next thirty minutes, each of the four brothers had some time to talk to each other of what happened to them today, how they’re doing, it was like the same thing from dinner earlier. But this time, they had a lot more to talk about. They even shared a few funny memories they had in the past. Doing all of this made Chansin feel happier when with the bros. He wanted to at least crawl back upstairs and just laze around while waiting for the day to end. But he decided not to, as he just wants to at least spend time with him, for the last day of being 18 around them.
He was busy telling them another funny memory that made them laugh. “So when Sheen looked at Gleam with his beauty mask on, he made this freaking scream!” He imitated of how the scream went, a rather gargled but girlish sound. “It was so freaking funny!”
This caused Gleam to laugh, and Snee to give out the occasional chuckle. But Sheen was less than happy as he groaned in anger. “Chansin, you jack!” He muttered under his breath. “That wasn’t funny at all!”
“Well, I kinda thought it was.” Gleam said, blushing a little in embarrassment.
Snee can’t help but secretly snicker at the time Sheen screamed like a girl over Gleam’s beauty mask. Sheen turned to him with a nasty glare, but he didn’t even cared really.
Chansin then laid back on the sofa, feeling relaxed. “Man, I can’t wait for tomorrow! I’m finally going to be 19!” He did a little victory pose, in which Gleam found to be adorable. “Whoo! I’m gonna be close to Sheen!”
“But that still means that I’m older than yo—“ Sheen added, feeling a little pissed.
“I don’t care~!” Chansin interrupted him with his usual carefree self.
Sheen growled in anger before turning back with a huff.
Gleam meanwhile was enjoy how happy his baby brother was. He wanted to cry a little, seeing how he was finally growing up so soon. Every year, he watched him grow from an adorable and playful young child into a strong, handsome, but also carefree boy. Once he reaches 21, Gleam would definitely cry the hardest, seeing how grown up his brother has fully become. But for now. He was becoming 19, so he was at least happy for him. But on the other hand…he felt worried. Worried about how this outcome might go. The talk he had with his brothers earlier made him feel like a mixture of depression, frustration, and guilt. Would he even be brave enough to tell Chansin? But that would have to wait. Right now, the sight of his little brother being happy was able to make him smile as well…
“Shoot, I feel like I’m changing already!” Chansin then peeked at his brothers with a smug grin. “Have you guys gotten me any gifts lately?” He said mischievously.
Gleam laughed. “Oh little brother, you can’t know yet! It would ruin the surprise for you!” He sweated a little, praying to god above that he doesn’t find them hidden in the basement.
His little brother responded with another laugh. “Eh, I’m kidding! I’ll be patient! I kept begging you guys all year for what I want! A new manga set! A Hanafuda cards set! A new laptop! And I guess the other six or 10 things I wished for.”
Sheen and Snee took a quick glance at Gleam, who gave out a nervous smile. It took the eldest brother 3 to 7 days getting most of the items Chansin needed for his birthday, almost all of them. Snee managed to buy him two, while Sheen got him only one gift. That is a whole lot of dedication as to how much Gleam cared for Chansin. Now if only the two were hoping that he’ll do the same for their birthdays. Chansin is so lucky.
And speaking of that word, Chansin continued. “Oh! And since every year I get lucky on my birthday, I’m going to the pachinko arcade tomorrow to score some money! And I can finally be able to do what I want with it!”
“But last year, you wasted all of your winnings to buy some crazy stuff and to hang out with Blizzaria!” Sheen argued, though his tone became bitter when he mentioned his brother’s girlfriend. How lucky he was indeed.
“Yeah, I know, but this year will be different!”
“I suppose you can split half of it to help the house in getting it into some shape.” Gleam suggested. “And maybe help us pay for the rent.”
Chansin nodded. “Yeah, I’ll probably do that.” He then flipped over into a sleeping position, pressing his arms on top of his chin while staring at the floor. “But man, there’s something I want most of all…” He started, but he felt a little calmer this time.
“What, your girlfriend’s tits?” Sheen smirked, making a rather dirty joke before Chansin threw a magazine at his head while he’s still dazing off into space.
“No, you jack.” He then sighed. “It’s just that…I always wanted a sword.” Once he said those words, the entire room became fully silent. “I mean, I know that I’m still trying my best and all, but I really wish that I could finally get my own sword.” He smiled a little. “You know, to be alongside you guys in training or taking down some Oni, or even Frostina! I just really wish that would happen tomorrow. I can feel it…”
While Chansin was saying his small speech, the looks of Sheen, Snee, and Gleam all formed into guilty, worried expressions. Each of them looked at any side of the living room, feeling rather sad about the talk they had earlier. They all looked at each other in silence. It was going to be hard, really hard, but they just have no other choice…
Their little brother suddenly looked up at them with the looks on their faces. It was starting to worry Chansin that much. His smiling face immediately faded away. “Hey guys, are you feeling okay?” He asked them.
Sheen and Snee looked at Gleam, who appears to be breaking down very slowly as it was going to rise. They knew that he’s going to be the one to tell him, since he seems to handle it. The eldest looked down at his own hands, as they were mending together, shaking, as if he was holding all of his fears in. He just wanted to cry. He can’t do this, he just can’t. Not in front of his baby brother of all people. He couldn’t even bare to break his innocent heart. He should at least do this another time. Not at this time. Or the day of his damn birthday for god’s sake! But then, he has no other choice. Because once he tells him this, he will immediately try to run away from him and lock himself inside his room. Crying himself over his own regret.
Slowly approaching him, Gleam tried his damnedest to at least make a smile. “Chansin, I uh…I need to tell you something. S-something important…”
Chansin looked at him. He didn’t looked alright at all, and he could tell from his body slightly shaking and his stuttering words. He started to feel concerned for his older brother and wanted to wonder why. Did something bad happened while he was out?
“Yes, Aniki?” he asked him using his affectionate nickname. “Is there something wrong?” He was feeling more concerned by the way he was starting to shiver. “Are you okay?”
Gleam almost tried to speak, but didn’t gained enough confidence in telling him. But by the looked of his worried little brother, he knew that he can’t stop now. Taking a deep breath, he finally started. “Chansin, listen to me dearly. We know that y-you can be very strong and noble, and all of us are proud of that. We’ve seen what you’ve become all these years and it’s just so incredible. But, what I’m trying to say is that…” Gleam stopped to see the look on Chansin’s face, so innocent and worried. “…t-that…” He took a longing look at him before he started to cry. “…I-I…I JUST CAN’T!” He then started to cry while Snee tries to comfort him.
Now Chansin was starting to get confused. He stood there in silence, watching Gleam crying before him, as something bad was really wrong, but what even was it?
“Really, you can’t even tell him!?” Sheen yelled at Gleam in a frantic tone.
“I-I’m sorry but, I-I can’t…!” Gleam cried, trying not to let our more tears. “I don’t even know what to say!”
Snee tried his best to calm down his brother with whatever he could. He even gave him a few tissues to clean himself up, but even that didn’t work at all. He understood what Gleam was going through. He wanted to take his place and explain to Chansin properly, but even he can’t be able to do such a thing, as saying it might make him feel depressed.
Sheen on the other hand was feeling rather pissed at what the two were doing. He just wanted either or to just spat it out, but they’re acting like total crybabies to do so. With a fierce growl, he spoke up. “What the hell!? You’re not even going to try!?” He yelled at the eldest again before turning to the second oldest. “Even you, Snee!?” He watched as Snee slowly hung his head down, seeing that even he can’t put up with it. “You know what, fine! I’ll do it myself!” He scowled at them before turning back to Chansin. A part of his mind tells him not to, but the other parts keeps chanting him to do it.
Chansin moved back, feeling a little uneasy. “S-Sheen, what’s even going o—“
“Shut up, Chansin!” Sheen yelled at him before sighing in frustration. “Okay, let me get this shit over with! Gleam means to say that you’re just too foolish!”
This started to get Chansin riled up. “Excuse me!?” He made a death glare at Sheen, demanding to know what he meant by that.
Snee pulled back Sheen by slapping him from the back of his head in anger. “What are you doing?” He said loudly at him in his raspy voice.
“What does it look like, dumbass!? I was trying to tell him what’s really going on!” Sheen argued.
The two brothers slowly started to argue over the one who was going to tell the truth. All the while, Chansin was trying to figure out what was even going on. Sheen and Snee were fighting with each other while seeing poor Gleam sitting on the floor in a fetal position. Sheen said that he was foolish. The heck does he mean by that? Was he saying that he was immature or something? Slowly feeling frustrated, he decided to speak up, hoping to calm the anger and frustration of everyone in the room.
“Guys, w-what are you even talking about!?” He said, trying to get their attention. “You’re seriously starting to creep me out.”
Sheen couldn’t even take it anymore as he started to growl at Chansin. “Okay fine, you want the damn truth!? The truth is that you—“ He was suddenly pulled back by Snee again, facing his fierce glare. “What the hell, Snee!!”
“He can’t know yet.” Snee said calmly, trying to hold his anger in. “Let’s just try and keep it at tha—“
“He’s not that young anymore! He just has to fucking know!” Sheen snapped at him.
Chansin tried to stop them again. “Woah wait, what do you mean by tha—“
“IT’S BECAUSE YOU’RE NOT READY!”
The entire living room was filled with silence. Clear, deep silence.
The three brothers slowly turned to Gleam, who was already up, his head facing down as he started to cry. There. He finally let it all out, but in all honesty, it still wasn’t worth it. At all…
Once he heard that sentence, Chansin’s eyes started to wide in shock. He already knew what he meant… “…W-what…?” He whispered breathlessly, a bit louder so everyone could hear him.
He stared at them, and they stared at him back. All three of them having the same reaction: shock. Everything around the room was still silent, except for the small whimpers of the eldest, who slowly started to stop. He wiped the tears off his face, finally feeling a bit calmer now. Looking at the confused and worried look of his brother, it was already time to say what’s been kept. He walked up to Chansin and rested both of his hands onto his shoulders, gently massaging them to keep him from being tense. He continued giving him his look of sadness on his face until he finally spoke.
“Listen, Chansin, I know that you’re brave, and I know that you can hold on your own, but…” Gleam almost started to cry again. “But me and your brothers had a talk earlier today about this and, w-we all decided that…” He didn’t want to say it, but he prepared for it anyway. “…we don’t think that you’re ready to have a sword.”
Chansin just stood there in silence, his blank stare almost scaring Gleam, making him feel almost depressed. He heard Gleam continuing what he had to say so carefully, he didn’t even know how to react.
“I’m so sorry, Ototo, I really am.” Gleam said softly, his voice having a hint of sadness. “But it’s just for your own safety. I fear that one day, you’ll end up in danger, and I don’t even want that to happen. I don’t know when you’ll get one. I know that you still are trying, but…” His expression grew more sadder every time he spoke. “I-I’m just so sorry…”
After hearing what his older brother had told him, everything around Chansin grew silent. Too silent. The kind of silence that erupted when something comes wrong. And something wrong it was. The former gambler couldn’t believe what he just heard. He can be strong, He can hold on well by his own. He has the ability to create fire, he has a good amount of strength, and he had used an actual sword before! So why? Why was he not really? Those words seemed to make him feel less confused as a form of anger was slowly rising from his mind…
Sheen, Snee, and Gleam all looked at his brother in worry. He still had that deep, blank stare for almost a minute. He didn’t even moved at all, his mouth didn’t even quivered, and they could’ve sworn that they didn’t hear any breathing. But finally, after a minute has passed, he started to move.
He looked down at his red scarf that was covering his mouth as he slowly took it off, along with his large hat. He even took off his large shoulder pads, as they were getting in his way. Laying them down on the floor, he then sat down on a small sofa, taking a deep breath, rubbing his eyelids. The air grew tense, and each of his brothers were slowly starting to fear how his brother would feel from all of this. They expected him to feel depressed, and prayed that he wouldn’t lash at them, but unfortunately, that nightmare will soon come to life…
He looked at the floor for a bit, reconnecting his thoughts for an answer, anything. He knew that they were waiting patiently for what he was going to say.
After the moment of silence being kept in for three minutes, he finally spoke up. And his answer was just one word.
“…Okay.” That was all he could say.
All three of the brothers just looked at him surprised when they heard his response. He expected him to scream at them at some point, but their brother looks…calm. Too calm.
They looked at Chansin, all of his added features being taken off in instant. All that was left was his ordinary red and black robe, and his full face was revealed. He just looked as if he was tired, in a bit of a daze. His nearly-shut eyes were staring at the floor, his own right hand caressing on his lips.
Finally, Gleam was able to break off another tense silence. “W-what…?”
Chansin just started to sigh, until he started to laugh. Not the typical laugh they expected from him, but it was rather soft and calmer. He continued to laugh, folding his legs while rubbing his forehead in disbelief. He wished that he could laugh further, wanting to believe that this was just some kind of joke, but it wasn’t. They were telling the truth, and he is completely aware of it. He just wants to act calm for just this moment, so he could express his true feelings sooner…
“Y-yeah.” He said. “Yeah, I know. I completely understand.” He then turned to his brothers with a smile, a smile with a mix of a saddened expression. “I understand now…”
Gleam was starting to get worried as he tried to talk with him. “C-Chansin? A-are you feeling alright…? I-I hope that you don’t take this the wrong wa—“
“Oh no, it’s fine.” He interrupted him, finishing his laugher before forming a deep frown. He looked at the three with an emotionless stare, his half-shut eyes making him look as if he was getting real tired of what’s going on. “I actually understand what you guys mean. That I’m just not worthy to get a sword…” He then got up from his seat, walking away from them, not even wanting to turn back.
The trio looked at him as if something was starting to feel wrong. They knew that Chansin wasn’t feeling like himself. They know that they will soon brace for what type of emotions he will aim them with.
Chansin meanwhile felt the silence coming back again, and he already knew what else to say. Saying something that can make him go even further. He sensed Gleam’s reaction from behind, probably feeling guilty about what he just said. Remembering a certain memory from a while back, he knew what to say now.
And once he said those words, it was enough to break the camel’s back. “…I guess that scabbard wasn’t worth it after all.”
Those words managed to trigger Gleam enough as he tries to ponder what he meant by that. “W-wha…” He choked. “What do you mean by t—“ His eyes started to widen as tears slowly formed from his eyes. “T-t-the scabbard? Y-you… You knew a-about…?” He didn’t even know what else to say.
Sheen and Snee looked at him with a worried look and back to Chansin, having the same question as Gleam’s.
The youngest slowly turned to them as his looked changed into an innocent one. He pretended to be shocked, not completely, as he remained calm as usual. “Oh…” he said in a sarcastic tone, pretending to think that he doesn’t even know what they meant. “You mean the scabbard from your secret room…?” He pierced those questions on to Gleam. “The red scabbard that was supposed to belong to me…?”
He just watched the eldest slowly breaking down into tears, putting both of his hands to his mouth while murmuring in regret. He could clearly hear what he was saying “You knew?” in tiny, little whispers, until he finally heard him say it aloud. “…Y…y-you knew?” Gleam quivered his lips, not even believing what he just heard. How did he even knew about that scabbard? He wasn’t supposed to know about it at all. He was even sure that he wasn’t supposed to see the video as well, even though he put all of his passionate words in there.
To weaken him even further, Chansin continued to act sarcastic as he questioned himself. “I knew?” He put a hand to his chest. “I-I knew…?” He kept repeating that question until it was slowly lowered down into simple murmurs.
The air grew too tense over what was preparing to happen. Chansin just stared at the floor with a wide stare, his pupils shrinking too far. He continued repeating the same question over and over, recalling events to the time where he was in Gleam’s secret room, discovering the scabbard, and the tape. Oh that tape. All of those “encouraging” words Gleam said, that were all meant for him. Were they all just a lie? Wasn’t he not ready from the beginning? Will he always be like this until forever? Those questions kept on pondering him, and he was starting to murmur. His brothers were starting to become scared, even Snee as well. They were feeling afraid that something like this was happening to their own little brother. They wanted to speak up and at least calm him down.
Until it happened.
His fists began to tighten, his own thoughts were beginning to burst. As he looked down on the coffee table, he quickly spotted an empty class cup, and without any hesitation, he picked it up and threw it fast at his own brothers.
And he started to scream.
“NO SHIT!!”
CLING!
The cup went fast through the bros before it shattered into a wall next to them, as they covered themselves from the impact. A few glass shards exploded from the crash, almost piercing through the bros’ skins. Once that was over, they all turned back to Chansin as they nearly gasped.
Their own brother looked angry, no, he was fully enraged. They never seen him so angry like this before. On a few occasions, he would get upset over something bad or serious. But this. It was a whole new level to them.
And then he started his lashing on them.
“YES, I KNEW!” He screamed at him, his anger boiling over his head. “I DID FUCKING KNEW!”
The trio started to slowly become afraid of his heated anger. Even Sheen did as well, not believing that this was coming from his own happy and teasing brother. But that doesn’t seem to match how he was feeling right now.
He then continued. “Yeah, I went into your room—no! All THREE of your rooms the other day, just to see what kind of secrets you hid from me!”
And now, Sheen could be seen feeling pissed. The other day, he could’ve sworn that Chansin might have entered his room just to snoop around. Now he must had sneaked into his dirty stuff. And with that, he started to growl. “You did WHAT!?” He prepared to launch at him. “Why you son of a—“
But before he can even attempt to do so, the rising force of Chansin’s death glare immediately stopped him. Sheen just stood there, his body feeling like it’s not being able to move at all. He has never seen Chansin’s glare becoming like this. Usually, he does the glare when he keeps annoying him or trying to make a move on Blizzaria. But the glare’s tense air was this strong. His brother waited for everyone in the room to just shut up so he can continue on to his rant.
“I went to your rooms, just to find out that you kept many items from me! Items that you’ve cherished that I became a part in!” He then glared at Gleam, who couldn’t even bare seeing him like this. “I even went to your room and discovered the scabbard and the tape. That goddamn tape…!” He winced for a bit. “You said that I would be ready! You said that I would be trusted and strong enough to get the one thing I needed just to be with you guys!!”
Once he said those words, all three of them were completely shocked from what they heard.
The youngest just stared at them, slowly on the verge of breaking into tears. He just looked at them with a frustrated expression, wanting them to, for once in their fucking lives to understand what he really meant.
“I didn’t wanted a sword just so I can just show off and brag to everyone about it! I just wanted it…” Chansin almost started to cry, but kept on going. He can’t stop now, he just can’t… “…I wanted it to be with you guys… I…I just feel great being around you guys, but when we have training, I just feel lonely and unwanted…” He then gave them an armor-piercing question. “Is it because I’m useless?”
The three brothers were starting to become sad by his response. This caused them to think for a moment. Was this really how he felt this whole time? Chansin, their younger brother, who was typically the one who encourages them with laugher and carefreeness, seriously thought of something this dark? No, it can’t. It can’t be that real. He had been pretty lonely back then, but the whole time, behind their backs, they were unaware of how much their little brother needed them. To be with them more rather than he being left out while watching them train.
This happened most of the time. While the brothers were training, Chansin would just sit there…nearby them, either on his laptop or just cheering them on from the sidelines. And they had let him train with him a few times before, wanting to see if he was that skilled. They thought that he wasn’t really bothered at all and just wanted to do this own thing.
But after what he just told them, they don’t even know what to believe. Even Gleam doesn’t even know what was even going on at this point. He kept wishing that this was all just a dream, so he can wake up the next morning and just see his own brothers feeling happy. But this wasn’t a dream…this was pure reality. And what his brother has been keeping for so long had been screaming at it right in front of them…
The youngest just stared at them, feeling exhausted from all of that yelling, all of that infuriation. He just want it to end so badly, but he can’t. He just wants to at least take a breather and try to relax, but that was unwanted for…
“You don’t know…” And then his anger slowly started to rise again. “…for how long I have been wanting to impress you three…! All these years, I’ve been training so hard, all day and night, hours on end to at least—at least fucking try to gain your trust! To at least be like you guys! But nope, I end up being too foolish!” He said those two words with a taste of venom, giving a hateful shot at Sheen for what he said to him earlier. “I ended up being a pathetic, weak person, who can’t even do a freaking thing right!!”
He growled, trying to continue. “I’m not good at anything! I may be good at drawing, singing, but everything else! FUCKING NOTHING! I’m not even good at gambling, but I kept on doing it, so I can try—at least freaking try and earn money to help you guys out!” Chansin was soon starting to break into a verge of tears. “I started gambling since I was 15, so I can help you guys earn enough money so all of us could move on!” He let out a cruel, hateful look at them. “And none of you dumbasses even thought I cared!!”
His brothers became completely silent, not even knowing what to say. He even cursed at them for god’s sake. They didn’t even know how to feel about this. Gleam was completely shocked that he would go even further than to curse at him, same with Snee as well.
They didn’t even known the real reason as to why he started his gambling habit in the first place. They were truly at lost for words.
He was already starting to cry. He wanted to keep glaring, letting them know how much he wanted to hate on them further, but it was already too late. He slowly started to frown, hot tears nearly ruining his face. He doesn’t want to cry, he just can’t. But soon, he fully realizes what’s already wrong with him, ever since he was born…
“…I…I get it…” He slowly wiped away his tears. “I-I’m just too weak… I’m not like any of you, at all. Whenever I do try to be like you, I end up failing. And even when I try to be myself, I end up being more of a nuisance! I may have a girlfriend, and friends, but even they might not try to appreciate me more when I’m like THIS!” He looked down on the floor. “…I bet all of you just hate me. You just hate me for who I am…”
This was finally able to get Gleam out of his worried trance, and let his instincts kick in. “N-no. Chansin, no wait! We do care for y—“
“YOU LIE!!” His Ototo managed to interrupt, snapping at him. “YOU’RE FUCKING LYING! You don’t love me, you just hate me for not being what you guys are!”
Gleam was taken back too much. For the first time in his entire life, he actually starts to argue with him. “How dare you even say that!” he screamed, with an angered look matching his. “Such foolishness! How can you say that when we actually don’t hate our own flesh and blood—“
“It’s the truth and you know that!”
“What truth!? Tell me! What kind of answer can you possibly take when you have not even a single clue of what you’re talking a—“
And then, he snapped. “I bet that you never wanted to find me!!”
Gleam’s eyes were fully widened, the pupils shrinking down so quickly. This made him realize who he was even arguing with, his baby brother. The one who he had never argued with throughout his entire life. And this was his first one, and of course, he immediately regretted doing such a thing. He clasped his hands together, tightening his own mouth before he started to sob again. Sheen and Snee silently helped him out. They were so scared and surprised that even their older brother, who was completely calm and patient to Chansin, would stoop so low in having a verbal fight against him. Gleam just murmured an “Oh god…” so quietly, but even the one who he’d fought was able to hear him.
Chansin on the other hand started to cry again, making small whimpers as he tried to regain his glare, but to no avail. “A-admit it…” He continued again. “You regret finding me in the woods when I was a baby.” He unmercifully shot down those toxic words onto Gleam too much. “You thought that I would be a different person, but instantly regretted it when I started to grow up…and became this…useless being!” He then let the tears flow through his face, closer to breaking down. “But I don’t blame you. All of you hate me…and I do too…” He looked up at his own, trembling hands. He just stared at them in disgust. “I just hate who I am…I don’t deserve to be like this…” And then he finished his rant with something that made them all shiver. “…I DON’T DESERVE TO BE BORN!!”
There. He finally finished.
He wanted to express all that he have kept from those jackasses for so very long. But he didn’t even know if it was truly worth it…
He just stared at them, and they were all crying. Not only Gleam was the easiest to show such emotion, but surprisingly, Snee slowly formed tears from his own eyes as well. He took off his hat and the upper part of his cloth to try and just join his Aniki with his mourning. Even Sheen tried his damn best not to cry, but after hearing so much of his youngest brother’s own rant, and the fact that he hates being born just made him loose his own mind.
He did the exact thing that Snee did, taking off his hat and scarf so furiously. He wanted to at least fight Chansin, beat him down for much shit he talked to him, and how much he made his older brother cry, to the point of even arguing with him. Gleam was able to see his pain as he slowly took off his hat to join both of them.
All three of them were crying, right in front of their enraged brother, who was now in disgust…but not anymore.
He looked at his own hands, and thought of his own reflection. Was he really like this the whole time? Causing so much trouble that made his brothers so desperately tired of him? He slowly looked at them grieving together as he just gave out a blank stare.
Once they wanted to stop, the three then looked at Chansin, who just gave them a blank stare. It felt like for hours, the nights feel like their taking too long to end. It just happened for a minute, before tears rapidly busted out from his eyes. His stare was now being with tears before Chansin could finally move and just ran.
He just started to run. Running up to the stairs. Away from them.
He could hear them screaming his name, begging him to come back down, but he just didn’t care.
He just wanted to be alone.
To be away from them.
To be away from himself.
Crying.
That’s what all he just did.
He was just crying, and he wanted to be like this until the night is over.
He was on top of the rooftops outside of the house. Using the secret entrance from the upstairs attic. This would usually be his secret spot, to mostly come here and think back on things that would usually stress Chansin out. Make him feel less clingy and more real. Whenever he was feeling lonely or sad, he would come up here and just look at the skies to reflect on that memory and to think of something to make him feel better.
He would casually either listen to nice, motivational songs on his mp3 player, or just look through happy past photos of his family and friends. He would definitely want to do either or both, but he actually cannot.
For he was busy crying to himself in a fetal position, trying not to remember the long and frustrated rant he shot back at his own three brothers. His own flesh and blood, who he believes just hate him for who he is. They might as well dislike him for not being like them, or even just abandon him for the rest of their lives. Letting him out all alone, making him suffer in the cruel world.
He just wishes that maybe his own girlfriend would be there to comfort him, or maybe his own friends, or maybe his own parents to at least calm him down, and just let him know that he’ll be okay. But he has no parents, at all. Either that he died young and became a Yo-Kai from being a baby, or was he just born from here and his parents decided to abandon him here because he was just to waste upon belief. Whenever they were caring or cruel, Chansin wished that someone would come and just help him. He doesn’t even want his own brothers to do so, as they just want him to die…
Die…
That one word…
He got off from his position and managed to find a small mirror just lying there on the roof. Reaching for it, he just took one long look at himself.
He looks pathetic.
Is this who feels proud of every day? The one who believes to be such an excellent person, only to end up being a complete failure?
He had always been this way since day one. He can’t cook well, he’s not good at gambling, but worst of all, he’s not good enough to be a swordsman. He had been training his whole life, fighting well on his own, but yet he’s just not worthy of taking a sword.
All he wants to be like his own brothers, to be someone who would feel proud of themselves for who they are. But he’s not like them, he doesn’t even deserve to be like them. But even when he tries to be himself, he’s still not proud of it. Everything that he has done throughout made his brothers think that he’s a total nuisance to them, not even caring at all.
He even wonders how his own friends feel about him. Do they do care for him and like being around him? Or do they just see him as a typical loser and just want to see him be made fun of? And his own girlfriend, Blizzaria, surely she would never hate on him. But what if she was secretly wanting to make him feel like a fool behind his back, tricking him into making him care for her. All of them probably might hate him too, just for being a failure.
That’s who he really is, a failure, a weakling, a pathetic excuse for a Yo-Kai, a mistake.
People thought that he didn’t see though that. But he did, all these years he did. He secretly hid his feelings before, always being the goofy, funny, and lovable guy he was, even if he can be a bit annoying. But lately, he kept thinking about those dark thoughts when he was alone, even when he’s with someone. But now it’s been spilled out, and Chansin knew that he can’t keep that teasing grin on his face for too long…
He doesn’t even know what to do now at this point. He might as well leave the house, forever, never wanting to return and just go somewhere. Somewhere where he could be someone else or maybe be appreciated. But then again, nobody would treat him well, nobody. Nobody would even try to befriend or fall for someone who can’t do anything right. And even if he can, then there’s nothing he can do to prove so. He’ll never be able to succeed on his own, he’ll obviously won’t make it through gambling. As that already is a foregone conclusion, he’ll get killed in an instant. He won’t have no friends, no love life, and no family. He would left alone to rot, for the better good.
But, he knew another option to help him out. It was risky, truly dangerous, he wasn’t even sure if he was ready at all. But, he had no other choice left. The decision has already been made.
He went around his robe and searched for something in his right pocket. Something to help him get though his situation more faster. As he managed to get what he was looking for, he slowly took it out, revealing it to be a dagger. His own emergency weapon.
Chansin had used it before when he’s going out alone. It was only to use when some mugger or thief comes into his way. It was mainly for self-defense, nothing else. But it was soon going to be used for something more than that…
He slowly took out its scabbard with caution and took a wide look at it. It was pretty shiny, glinting and showing off its sharp silver. It was good enough to cut though anything, even skin and flesh of beings. Knowing what to do now, his hands were shaking in fear, wondering if he should do this.
If he was risking to kill himself, as a Yo-Kai of all things, then would he still live? He had heard the many outcomes of a Yo-Kai coming into death, they either go to heaven or hell, depending on their lives. But if one kills themselves via suicide, then they would surely go to hell.
And that’s the risk Chansin’s going to do.
The dagger was now aiming at his own neck. Is he seriously going to do this? He had already figured out what he’s chosen. The decision was up to Chansin, and he had already made up his mind.
But how would his brothers react to him doing this? How would his friends, B3, his girlfriend, Blizzaria. Even his own enemies. How would they all react? They would probably feel depressed that he would do such a horrific feat. Crying and worried that they won’t get to see the young teenage gambler that they all once knew and loved. That would be the most obvious response, but Chansin knew that it was false.
They’ll probably be happy that he’s out of their lives, not even caring if he committed a dangerous act out of all things. But that’s alright, seeing out he has a reason to be hated. He has a reason for hating himself.
He doesn’t want to see himself anymore.
His hands controlled the dagger as it was getting closer and closer to piercing through his neck.
He knew that he shouldn’t do this.
He knew that this is the wrong decision.
He knew that it would make things worse.
All of those thoughts in his head were scrambling in, feeling like as if they were begging him to stop, telling him that this isn’t right.
But it was already too late.
He gently closed his eyes and awaited for him to pierce the dagger through his own neck. He soon starts to gain visions of his past. From him seeing his brothers the very first time as a baby, the time where he was taken cared by them, receiving so many cuddles and hugs from Gleam, where they started their first training, how he met B3 and his other friends as a teen, how he met the love of his life, how he met one of the most terrifying enemies ever. All of these great memories kept coming into him at a fast pace.
He can’t help but spew out a few tears from his eyelids. Those memories may have been great, but he knew that they might as well be false…
As he prepared to await his deadly fate, he heard a loud bang from behind in the rooftops. He still ignored it and prepared to be stabbed from his own scabbard.
Taking his time so carefully…
“CHANSIN!!!”
He suddenly heard a voice calling out his name, rather three different voices in unison, all sounding so familiar.
He felt the scabbard being grabbed from his hands and being thrown elsewhere, before he was given a warm tight hug from someone. Opening his eyes from shock, he discovered that it was his own brother Gleam, hugging him so tightly while murmuring, crying so hard.
“No! No no nononono….” He whimpered softly, embracing his own little brother, not wanting to be freed from his grasp.
Chansin just stood there, his eyes widening surprisingly, feeling confused as ever. He felt his Aniki still hugging him, begging him softly not to get himself into any more danger. He looked up to see his other brothers as well, Sheen and Snee, reaching down to comfort them, their looks expressing into a worried and saddened look.
Why?
Why did they came to him?
Why did they stopped him?
Why would they even come to his rescue, even though he doesn’t even wanted to be anyway?
He took a longing, emotionless look at them and then sets his gaze back to Gleam, who was still sobbing over what he just did.
“Don’t do this…! Please…” He said softly as his cries went lower. “…Why? …Why would you even do this…? You don’t have to do that…” He revealed his saddened face to him, being wet from all those tears, trying so hard to wipe them away. “Why would you even think of doing this…?” The eldest choked a little. “T-this isn’t like you…”
He just looked at him, the look on his face, as if it was begging him not to kill himself over.
Chansin continued to do this. He wanted to look away, he doesn’t even want to copy their looks, but he can’t…
The silence grew tense outside, not even the sounds of the crickets or a few birds were able to break it. It just became so bitter.
The older brothers watched their little brother all confused and broken, wanting to at least know what was going to happen next. They expected him to lash at them again, fearing that he would hate them even more, for ruining his goal. His suicide mission.
But then he cried.
They watched him cry.
It wasn’t the pathetic cries he had before in the past, it was legit, real crying. As if he felt hurt. He couldn’t control himself. He wanted to stop, he wanted to scream and glare at them for being there, for coming to him. But he just had no choice. He knew what he did was wrong, and he instantly regretted his decision once he came.
Aniki’s sibling instincts immediately kicked in, like a knife to the heart. He comforted his baby brother so much, trying his damnedest to soothe him from his tears. Snee of course went down to help once he shared a warm hug with them, wanting to help relax his brother. Sheen, who was getting frustrated that Chansin would do such a thing, even came in to join them in the hug.
“Ototo, its okay…” Gleam’s voice soothed. “It’s going to be alrigh—“
But then his brother snapped. “WHY!? Why did you even came to me!? Why even bother!? Why can’t you just let me fucking stay here to just DIE!?”
The trio were stunned with what he said, even shaking a little at his last word. They then heard him continue on with his rant, mixed with a bit of his sobbing.
His anger seemed to calm down a little once he went down to the floor, banging on it a little with frustration. “Just why…? W-why did you stopped me? …I don’t even want to live…I don’t even deserve to…” He then looked at them, his face looked as if it was damaged badly. “Don’t you dumbasses see? I’m just too weak, a freaking mistake… I’m not good at anything…I’m just not worth it…”
Chansin suddenly felt his two shoulders being touched as he watched Gleam getting closer to him and pulled him into another comforting hug. He then looked at him with a forlorn look, wanting him to understand what he was about to say.
“Ototo,” He said his affectionate nickname once again, wiping a tear off his face. “Don’t you dare even think of that. What makes you think that you’re like this…? You are never weak or pathetic. You are something more than that…” He tried his best to make a smile. “You are still our precious brother…”
But those words still weren’t enough to help out his depressed brother. “N-no, I’m not!” He sniffed a little. “I’m not even like you guys… I just…”
“Oh for god sake, when the hell are you gonna stop with the act!?” Sheen spoke up, feeling pissed at him, which was definitely not the right time to do so. “You do realize that you’re still the same jerkish, annoying brat I always know—“
“Sheen.” Snee interrupted him with a stern tone, warning him not to make his brother cry again.
“So what!? It is true! This isn’t the same brother I know! The Chansin I know was always annoying, obnoxious, funny even…” Sheen’s anger started to fade once he began crying. “Damn it…!”
Snee and Gleam felt his pain and comforted him over what he said. But while they do so, they suddenly heard…laughter. And it wasn’t coming from him as they turned around.
It was coming from Chansin.
It wasn’t the sarcastic, snapping laugh from earlier, right before he gets enraged at them. It was the same laugh they knew. The only difference that it was rather a few chuckles, pretty quiet but also enough to lighten the mood a bit. They didn’t even know why Chansin was even laughing at a moment like this, even after he almost killed himself.
But, it was a start.
He sniffed a little, smiling weakly. “There’s the Sheen I knew. That guy who can’t even express his feelings right. But actually, he’s just a big, old softie…”
And with that, the rest slowly started to smile a little. Sheen did as well as he chuckled softly, turning away with a light blush on his face. “Damn it, Chansin…you know that you freaking scared us, right…?”
The youngest’s smiling face slowly went back into a frown once he stared at the floor below him, deeply regretting his mistakes. Everything. “Guys…” He whispered. “I-I’m…I’m just so sorry…I thought that you all hated me…” One or two tears fell out from his eyes. “I even fucking cursed at you…”
Gleam caressed on his cheek. “Chansin, we don’t want to be like us, we just want you to be you. That’s what makes you feel so special…” He said breathlessly. “You don’t really need a sword to impress us, we still think that you’re an amazing person, even if you keep making so many mistakes…”
“B-but…” Chansin sniffed a little. “But you said that I wasn’t ready…”
His brother made a guilt look as he sighed. “I know, it was foolish of me to say that. I truly didn’t mean to hurt you like that. I just didn’t want out precious baby brother to get hurt… But I slowly realized that you can be strong, and you showed that to us.” Gleam slowly started to cry. “I am so sorry for not believing in that, even about your gambling situation… I didn’t even know that you would go so far into doing such a thing…!”
“…I did it to help you guys out. The house…” Chansin took a quick glance at Snee. “Even Snee’s band…”
He then watched at his gloomy brother placed a hand on his right shoulder. “…You did so many great things in helping me out. I may have gotten that guitar already from my last birthday…but seeing how far you went into buying me one…it made me felt happy…” Snee spoke up, smiling a little once he reminisces of that memory. “…You really did supported me the most when I was alone…I didn’t had any friends that time. You along with the others were the only ones I had…”
Hearing those warm and comforting words didn’t really made Chansin smile yet, but he did felt touched when Snee told him. It at least made him feel a little better, knowing that he bonded with Snee the most after so many years.
His glimpse moved on to Sheen, who gave him an odd look before realizing and turning away with a huff. “Okay, so what!? I actually do care for you, you dumbass!” He then gave him a glare. “So don’t even think that I don’t give a fuck about you!”
“Sheen…” Gleam said half-warningly, not wanting Chansin to be pressured again.
But then, the jerkish brother’s tone changed instantly. “Ugh, fine! I…I do care for you, alright?” His voice softened a little, though it still had a bit of anger in it. “I was always looking out for you and, you were kinda a bit of a good wingman…” He blushed a little, remembering how Chansin managed to get him and Benkei to get along for a bit. But once he saw Chansin making a smile, his face turned red with anger. “I-It’s not like that, alright!?”
Chansin’s mood was almost getting better. Hearing how much his brothers care for him was making him so much better. He now regretted about what he had done. Those mad memories were starting to fade from his mind anyway.
He then watched as Gleam turned back to him. “And don’t you even think that I regretted finding you. When you were a baby years ago, I knew that you didn’t had anyone to take care of you, so I wanted to be the one instead.” He hugged him so tight. “I did everything I could to help take care of my precious, sweet brothers, including you. It was a hassle, but it a very meaningful way, no matter how much you stressed me out…” He then made a warm smile. “So do not think that you are nothing, my dear brother. We care for you, your beloved cares for you, your friends do, everyone does. Because no matter what…you’ll still be our Chansin…”
After hearing everything from what he said, it was finally able to make Chansin smile. He made such a sweet smile over his brothers, touched by how much they care and respect him. It just made him all better…
He then gave them all a big hug as they nearly fell down. Gleam laughed in joy, crying a little, Snee smiling warmly, and Sheen can’t help but smirk.
They were glad to have their brother back.
After having the hug that lasted for two minutes, Gleam then countered Chansin with a stern look. “Okay now, for now on, we are never, ever going to leave you out ever again. We’re going to let you train with us so you won’t feel left out! And even If you don’t feel like it, that’s fine with us if you need a break once in a while! But if you really, really do feel left out, then don’t w—“
“Gleam, i-it’s okay.” Chansin interrupted him, smiling like his usual self again. “You don’t have to act too much about it…”
“Nonsense! It’s out duty to make sure that our Ototo is well treated for now on! Oh, and we soon might give you a sword as a special reward for your training!” Gleam added, smiling back.
This caused Chansin to feel surprised, but he still smiled anyway. “Again, not that much but…” He then hugged him. “Thanks…”
Gleam then hugged back, feeling so touched that his brother is back to his usual self again.
“So uh…” They all turned to Sheen. “Do we head back downstairs now? Since I’m feeling a bit tired being on top of the roof.”
Chansin thought for a moment until he spoke up. “Actually uh…maybe we can sleep out here for the night?” he asked them shyly, blushing a little. “I think it’s fair if we just sleep together, since I feel more comfortable that way…” He doesn’t want to reveal about him being happy when cuddled around his brothers, so he tried to keep it out for a bit.
The three brother looked at each other, a bit hesitant at first. But after being through so much trouble and trying to get Chansin back into sanity, they can’t even say no to that. They turned back to their brother, Gleam smiling at him warmly. “Why of course. Just wait right here, I’ll go get some pillows and blankets.” He walked back to the roof’s entrance. “I can’t expect my three brothers to sleep so uncomfortably, now would I?”
Chansin chuckled a little at his remark. It was great seeing his eldest brother being who he is again as well. In fact, he happy that each of them managed to be who they are again. If it weren’t for them, then he would have been in much worse predicaments. And he was thankful for them being there for him so much.
Once Gleam came back with the sheet and pillows, he lay them neatly on the roof’s floor so that each of the bros would be comfortable in sleeping better. “Okay, this looks better now. Sleep in, everybody.”
They did as they were told once they rested on the floor and got into the sheets. “Um, I guess this feels fine.” Chansin joked, smirking a little. “That’s just fine with me…”
“Are you sure about sleeping on the roof?” Sheen groaned. “I mean, if we ended up crashing into downstairs while we sleep, don’t say that I warned you.”
Snee turned to him with an annoyed look. “…Don’t you even dare ruin it…”
“So what, I’m just saying!”
Chansin laughed. “Eh, whatevehs, Sheen. I mean if we do, then that would at least be kinda awesome.”
“Oh jesus…” Sheen groaned as he turned away from him.
Gleam can’t help but laugh at his brothers’ antics. They may argue a lot, but they really do care for each other. “Okay everyone, it’s time to sleep….” He then rested his eyes. “Goodnight, my dear brothers…”
“Night…” They all said in unison as they prepared to sleep…
Right before they heard a loud, beeping sound. They tried to find the source until they turned to Chansin, who gave out a sheepish smile. “Ooop! Let me check what’s up!” he turned on his phone and made a grin. “Oh sweet! My alarm came on!”
“Really?” Gleam said with curiosity.
“In the middle of the freaking night!?” Sheen argued at him. “Really?”
“It’s actually midnight…” Chansin’s grin went wider. “I’m finally 19!!”
“Chansin, we’re so proud of you!” Gleam smiled. “Happy birthday, little brother! Oh, we’re going to have so much fun giving out a nice party.”
Snee smiled as well. “…Happy birthday…” He spoke up.
All Sheen did was rolling his eyes and moving back down to sleep. “Yeah yeah, whatever…” He moaned. “I’m going back to sleep.”
Chansin made a teasing pout. “Rude! I guess you’re gonna have a smaller piece of cake when the party happens.”
“Oh shut up!!” Sheen hissed back.
This caused all three of the brothers to laugh as they all lay back down to sleep.
Chansin puts his phone back in his right pocket as he stared at the stars shining so brightly in the sky. They symbol something great that happening in his life, and oh how great it way. As he drifted his eyes to at least slumber, he felt something warm climbing on his body. Something very warm. He opened his eyes to see all three of his brothers, even Sheen, cuddling to him in their sleep.
All he could do was blush so brightly as he can’t help but smile. As he thought before, every time his brothers were with him, they bring so much comfort to Chansin. He should have never forget that during the night’s incident.
And now, he surely never would.
“Happy birthday to me…” He whispered to himself before cuddling with his brothers to sleep…
Chapter 1 Disclaimer I don't own any of the characters and or content that is going to be used in this story and all right belong to the writers and creators of creators of once upon a time. Regina showed the other Robin around while her main Robin was spending some time with his daughter Robyn. She show this version of him, the rest of storybrooke, the town hall, the library and the clock tower. His twin brother slid his hand into his baby brother girl fingers, she pulled away from him, explained “ I know we had a fling between us. But that was only because my Robin failed to mention the fact that he had a brother.” His older twin brings up to her “we were close once,but our parents divorce put a nasty ocean between us.” she tells him”as you know, my relationship with Zelena is quite complicated. I have been trying very hard to mend it.” The older twin nodded his head, asked “Zelena the one with the infant baby?. How did all of this spiral out of control?. “ She clenched her fists into the jacket pockets, took a deep breath and told him “my mother had my sister first, but she gave her up and kept me instead.” he replied “favorites over family, I suppose your mother wanted something else in life that changed her values and perspectives, love to make this irrational decision.” “our mother was complicated and cruel, but I loved her despite all of that. Hoped that she could give up the need for power and vengeance but it wasn't enough.” “my brother Robin Hood also told me that Cora ripped a stable boys heart out all because his heart fell in love with a woman that was way out of his league.” Regina grit her jaw, tightened her lips and choked down the river of tears, put up the walls around old wounds. She opened her mouth up, but nothing came out. Robin of Locksley did his best to comfort her before she bursts, or disappears into a purple cloud of smoke. “I didn't mean to upset you madame mayor.” She regained her composer, says to Robin of Locksley “ I..just needed a minute, no you didn't upset me.” he arched his neck up, tilted his head slightly to the left. He huffed “yes I have. So don't lie. Unlike my brother I can see past the mask you wear.” She rolled her eyes at Robin of Locksley, scoffed “you think you have me figured out just because you share the exact same face as Robin.” Robin of Locksley was unaware of her short temper, he prepared his bow in front of him, aimed it towards the evil queen. Robin Hood was on his way to meet up with Regina, he saw his brother point his arrow locked and loaded. He ran in front of him, shoved his twin on the pavement and sucker punched him in the face, snarled “so help me god if you leave one mark on her, I will kill you myself.” Regina ran into the chaos, grabbed Robin hoods collar, growled “ kill him, you will regret it forever trust me I know better than anyone. This isn't like you, so take it down a notch and go for a walk then when you've calmed down, we can talk.” Robin Hood growled at Regina “ my brother tried to kill you, you're still going to defend his ass.” she snapped “yes, now go before the evil queen comes out. I'm pretty sure that you'd rather deal with me than her. She never liked thieves, even on a good day.” Robin Hood barked “don't drag the Queen into this. It's not necessary, I just don't understand why you choose to defend my brother.” Regina recalled “ when we first met you nearly took off my head with your arrow, luckily I had impressively quick reflexes before it could do any damage.” Robin of Locksley chuckled lightly, mumbled “oh brother, what have you gotten into.” Robin Hood hated bickering with Regina, since he never wins nor does it accomplish anything. He rolled his shoulders back, looked into those adorable puppy dog eyes of hers, gave in “I'm sorry for the way I acted, can you forgive me?.” she points to his brother, mentions “yes, but the real person you should be apologize to is your brother, that's what heroes do.” Robin Hood huffed “ I'm..sorry I snapped at you.” Robin of locksley replied “I accept you're overly appeasing apology.” Regina let out a sigh of relief, looks at the two spitting images of Robin hood staring back at her. She cleared her throat, tells them “ how about we go back to my house, have some leftover lasagna hotdish for dinner tonight.” They groaned “cant you heat something else up. Neither one of us can take anymore of that hotdish.” She raised her hand up in protest, chimes in “how about some leftover grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soup.” They both glanced at each other, trying to pick the lesser of two evils. Robin Hood added “what if I cooked instead.” She folded her arms over her chest, mumbled “that's not an option.” he leaned closer to Regina, uttered “ i'm standing right here.” She huffed “eavesdropper.” He chuckled “sweetie,you might want to work on lowering your voice if you don't want anyone to hear your conversation.” Robin of Locksley bit his lip to hold back his laughter, he watches his little bro bicker with his girlfriend. There pitiful disagreements make them act more like two year olds than adults. He finds it sicking and enduring all at the same time. He wonders how those two managed to fall in love so easily. Separately there complete opposites, together they balance each other and have way more in common then you realized. Robin of Locksley interrupted the bickering idiots, tells them “ can we continue this later, my stomach is growling louder than lighting. I would love to have my last meal before I die so can we get this show on the road.” Robin blushed bright red as he looked back at Regina, explains to her “ sorry my brother tends to get a bit fussy when hes overly hungry.” She snickers “ Hes just as bad as my son.” Robin Hood was very tempted to ruin Regina thunder, by mentioning his daughter but he also knows that would only make things worse. Since he is well informed on the fact that she will never be able to bare have children of her own. The bond that Zelena forced, will forever have a sore spot on her heart, his. That a part of himself wishes that he could take this all back, share it all with the woman he truly loves. Regina looks to Robin Hood, sees the sorrow in his olive-green eyes, she tilts her head and tries not to choke up in tears. She hates everything her sister has done to him, David and Margaret, Henry and even hook. Yet she's still around because of the child, hopes that maybe just maybe it will provide Zelena with a second chance, just like Henry did for her. She walked over to Robin, leans her head against his shoulder, whispers softly” I forgive you. So stop blaming yourself for this.” he kissed her softly on the cheek, uttered “I love you so much.” her eyes twinkled as she absorbed those three words that she's been waiting to hear. “I love you always.” She uttered back to Robin. He wrapped his fingers into the palm of her hand. He soaked up this precious moment as long as he could. In this town, you never got much time for the milestone markers in relationships. This was one that he wanted to cling onto, those words you say to the one you love should not be taken lightly. They should be spared. Robin of locksley tapped his foot impatiently on the sidewalk, interrupts them by saying “can we have some food, i'm dying over here.” Regina burst out with uncontrollable laughter as Robin tells his brother “alright man, let's get some grub before my girlfriend loses a lung.”
