Online fandom has been around long enough that we now have revisionist history around long settled ship wars, and that's wild to me. History is written by the victors, but I was there and I know for a fact that you rewrote what happened in your video essay and now that's going to be the truth according to new fans. I don't really know what to do with that information.

Like actual wild animals. Just give them respect and they will, for the most part, not do anything to you apart from slather your walls in paint for territorial marking purposes. hey at least they don't piss on everything to mark their turf like most other mammals

on a different note i feel genuinely fucking insane in almost all of my fandoms except for like maybe monster hunter.

this is because i have yet to follow or interact with basic fans of within those fandoms. it’s at the point to where it seems like i’m not a httyd fan, just a toothcup shipper. i’m not a pokémon fan, just a poképhile. i’m not a monster hunter fan, i’m just a monsterfucker. i’m not a slugterra fan, just the only eli shane x burpy shipper in existence.

all of that isn’t true, of course; i’m very much a fan of all the aforementioned medias. the thing is that i’m so far into my little burrow within these fandoms that i have literally no idea of what’s going outside of it, even though i desperately want to. if you asked me who the big names in these fandoms were, what were the major and minor discourses, where the hotspots and the events and the discords and the art were...i couldn’t tell you a damn thing.

i know within my heart of hearts that there is fascinating discussion going on in the httyd, pokémon, and slugterra fandoms, yet i know none of it.

it’s excruciatingly odd for me as a person with a personality disorder, but i really do believe this is what isolation feels like.

On a densely networked site like Tumblr, you're probably at most four or five mutual-of-a-mutual jumps removed from someone who's genuinely never heard of Batman.
