y'know, the different factions of spn fandom on tumblr do fundamentally and vehemently disagree with each other about a lot of things, and many of the factions actively hate one another, but i just want to say for the record that i appreciate the fact that this site is not overrun with painfully hetero facebook fans. i just saw someone over there saying with their whole chest that they fully expected the finale to have dean meeting jo harvelle in heaven and them getting afterlife married, and someone else angrily responded that this was obviously never going to happen because clearly dean was still in love with lisa braeden who would therefore be his finale bride (i guess this person expected her to die in the finale somehow?), and then someone ELSE responded that they wouldn't want to see either of those things happen because they like to pretend dean is their boyfriend and it would feel like cheating(!!!!) if he ended up with one of them and they'd never be able to fantasize about him anymore. and all of these comments had over a dozen people agreeing with them.

Warnings: Graphic Depictions of Violence Characters: Loki (Marvel), Gabriel (Supernatural), Thor (Marvel) Pairings: None When I Started: July 2018 How I Lost My Shit: There was no plot to this fic. I went back and edited it several times over the years as I became more experienced, but I had no idea what to add. How I Finished My Shit: I wanted to complete it so badly that I constructed an entire plot from scratch, in the end. It was half spite-fueled, with regards to the one bookmarker who tagged this fic as 'dead' (happy September Spite Month!), and half hope fueled, by all the kudos I'd still get years later and the one bookmarker who tagged it 'never gonna give you up'.

Dean got up from his chair and paced the room, rolling his empty coffee mug around in his hands. After a long minute, he turned to me and Sam. “Then we stop Roy.”

“How?” Sam asked.

Dean raised a brow, as if the answer was obvious.

My heart jumped into my throat. “Since when do we kill human beings?”

“He’s playing God, Kate,” Dean snapped. His eyes narrowed, the valley between his brows filled with anger at the very thought. “He’s deciding who lives and who dies. That’s a monster in my book.”

“No!” Sam protested. “We’re not killing him. Maybe we can just… figure out the spell he’s using and then find a way to break it instead.”

Dean raised his hands in the air. “Alright, fine.”

I barely listened as they talked through how we’d go about finding the spell. All I could hear was Dean’s voice bouncing through my head in a never-ending echo, more furious with every loop. He’s playing God, Kate. He’s deciding who lives and who dies. That’s a monster in my book.

Jessica. Stacey. Harley. Marshall Hall.

No, I thought. Roy wasn’t deciding who deserved to live and who had to die. I was.

I was the monster.
