Swirling Dance

It was a swirling dance, little more than that, as the winds kept blowing through the windows on the great hall. Tessa avoided by some sort of miracle an attack with a pincer that almost harms her, it was an ultimate example of how much those fencing classes did took root on her muscular memory, it was a parry that stunted for seconds Cyn and allowed her to smash against an array of limbs afterwards, like a swordswoman from one of her many books, she withdrew, her trusted blade whirling into her hands, she had to to hold it with both, yet it kept her with the elegance of a landsknecht, she pointed it towards the emerging ‘worker’ drone that soon enough appeared amidst the tons of tentacles and other limbs that had filled the place as their battle moved from the dancing floor to the hall.

“And yet, you keep resisting” Cyn stated, the lack of emotions on her voice perhaps slipping, as much as it could due to the text-to-speech tone it had “Intended function of ‘Citizen Murder’ will not be accomplished I’m afraid”

Two rounded and spinning saws appeared as Cyn made gestures with her hands, the Absolute Solver Glyph appearing and directing those spawned items towards her, on a jump, she stabbed one of the saws to the floor and the other one flew past her.

“Running out of tricks?” Tessa asked, as she started running towards the drone gone rogue with the intent to kill it.

“On the opposite!” An answer, a hesitation hidden between lines, was it perhaps a sight she was nearing the end of this fight? “May you encounter a Citizen Dead suiting yourself only!”

Cyn levitated as more aggressive limbs came in to obstruct Tessa’s path, she started swinging her blade with fury as she was halted once again from her objective, this night was certainly NOT going to plan, but so long as she kept fighting, she would most probably make it to the next day; and as she kept cutting through pincers and tentacles, she could not that the so quick dance and pace she had been keeping on with this menace had been ebbing, somewhat, she was growing tired too, but a being this size was probably going down before her.

“Only if you can overcome the energy wasted by trying to crush something as small as me!” She taunted as sparks came from the sword as once again she did a parry to a pincer, practically mangling it as oil stained her face slightly “C’mon!” She said in frustration.

The dance will keep going, and the sword and limbs remain at odds; the question as to who shall triumph stood on the air; the ruthless vindicator? The heroic paladin? It was a question that didn’t got answered even after it all closed with a flourish, and yet, as the memory of the Swirling Dance, one of parry’s and sparks and of the toughest battle she had been on kept living on Tessa’s memory, she regarded it as a tough night. And she hoped for the second act of that dance to take place, soon.

Watching your husband entertain your child would never fail to make you smile.

"Aw, my cute baby!" Satoru joyfully exclaimed as he and the baby, secure in his hold, emitted almost harmonious squeals of delight. Both of them practically shared the same brain cells at this point.

And it was a sight that warmed your heart so much, especially when the old Gojo Satoru was a prick who used to made little Megumi cry just for the sake of it and always said that babies and everything that came with them were a pain.

He playfully devoured your son's plump cheeks and burst into laughter, paying no attention to the curious glances he garnered from other shoppers at the supermarket.

"Satoru, hush," you chided gently as you pushed the cart, yet still smiling all the same.

"Ah, look, mama doesn't approve," he remarked to your babbling son, wearing a playful pout. At the same time, your barely seven-month baby puckered his lips too, turning him into a perfect miniature version of your mischievous husband at his best, melting your heart even further.

"It's time for his milk," you pointed out, retrieving the milk bottle. Satoru reached for it and offered it to your baby, who eagerly latched on and started drinking.

Your precious baby continued to feed on the formula, clearly relishing it. It appeared that he couldn't get enough, with the way he drank with such enthusiasm.

"He's a hungry baby... just like you," you mused.

Satoru laughed out loud once again. "Why are you comparing a baby with a grown-ass man?"

Your son was still drinking the milk and seemed like he wanted more, but you could definitely tell how content he was in that moment.

"Because it's your baby, duh. And not only he looks like you, he's also reflecting what you've been doing to me so far, it's uncanny."

"So I've turned our son into a mini-me now, have I." He regarded you with a mischievous glint in his eye. "And what have I done to you, darling? Tell me."

"...A lot of bad things."

"Heh, is that so?"

The baby then stopped drinking and seemed to want you to cuddle him, as he reached his tiny hands towards you. Satoru handed him over to you, taking the bottle away, and you gently pulled him close, cradling him against your chest.

"Yeah. Bad, bad things," you cooed to your baby, your eyes sparkling with joy. "First you seduced me, then got me pregnant. And then you forced me to go through that painful labor."

Satoru didn't miss the way the clerk eyed him after you said that. But he chuckled anyway. "Well... in the end you fell for me, and I probably seduced you a bit..."

He paid for the groceries and then the two of you walked out of the supermarket.

"But is that so bad?" He continued with a meaningful smirk. "You seemed like you love it so there's nothing to complain about."

"Hmph."

"And then I got you pregnant... well, you wanted a baby, dear, so you can't really be mad and blame just me for it all, okay?"

The fact that you were having this crack conversation at a crossroad made you struggle to stifle your laughter, to say the least.

Your son was still cuddling up to your chest and now he was looking at you with those wide, glassy blue eyes. You could tell how much he liked and needed you, as well as spending time with you, his mother.

This is your baby with the man who loves you. How could you not love him in return?

Satoru looked at his son in your arms. “Our son is the cutest, isn’t he?”

He seemed tired more than anything though, with the big yawn he just emitted.

“He is so… defenseless.”

“Well, he’s a baby,” your husband said matter-of-factly. “That’s how babies are, darling. He’s learning how to do things and completely defenseless, so he needs his parents. You and I.”

Your baby’s eyes became a little droopy. He was sleepy now, and wanted your warmth to fall asleep.

“Let’s… protect him together, yeah, Satoru?” you muttered softly as your child settled in your embrace, peaceful and content, falling asleep.

Your heartstrings were pulled when you witnessed the expression of absolute adoration on your husband's face.

“Silly. I’m the one who will protect both of you, sweetheart.”

BeachGoers.

She came walking from the sea. Her memories a blank, the very essence of who she was completely gone from her mind as she simply allowed her boots, all wet from the sea, to keep walking over the sand, she stared around, not really sure of what was supposed to happen now, was there even something fated to happen?

She then looks at the side as the wind howled by the sea, there, on the small horizon, she saw and heard, almost as if her very 'ears' where over there, the celebrations, those were going on, with the zoom her visor could achieve she noted the great amount of alcoholic drinks, and how weak and pathetic the humans hanging around the fire were.

She kept hearing the waves crash against the shore, and then, incoherent thoughts, incoherent notions, ideas (orders?) came to her. She twitched and glitched, a hand went over her visor as the symbol appeared, the fangs emerged and she was now drooling old oil from her last meal.

When had her last meal been?

And could human blood taste as remotely good? only one way to find out, and the steps on the sand, erased by the waves, spoke by themselves of who were going to be the lucky ones to help her verify.

"I'm not like the other girls~" A thought, on the void head so filled with the need to feed, a rarity "I'm like no one else"

Mermaid Hermione 

Marauders Era

The first time she saw him was under the old moon as he threw his head back and laughed to the stars, his dark hair wet against his neck and vaguely smelling of a canine.

The next time she saw him he was sitting on the rock that edged the lake, his boots thrown haphazardly in the grass behind him and his feet moving through the still waters. He had a cut above his left eye but he seemed distracted by something else. 

Her youth made her foolhardy and she itched to help him, if only to see his face break out in joy like the first time she saw him. Before she was able to make a decision, he stood up abruptly, threw his laced up boots over his shoulder, and turned away from her and her home.

The first time he spoke to her she wilted under his gaze when he told her her eyes were curious like a kitten. Then he ruined the moment by asking to take a closer look at her tail and she drenched him.

The first time she touched him he was unconscious and floating down towards the very depths of her home. Her panic seeing him drown made her act before thinking and she pulled him towards the surface, her powerful muscles allowing her to cut through the water quickly. 

When she broke the surface, gasps came from the weathered bank where a group of other human males gathered in desperation. She pulled him towards the shore and the other males helped him out of the water. She fled.

The first time he showed her his magic he conjured a delicate crown made of twisted ivy and a beautiful ivory water lilly. He told her of his friend with glass circles on his face and how he loved the flower. 

He placed it carefully on her brown locks and thanked her for saving his life claiming his life was now hers. He smiled at her blush on her near translucent skin.

The first time he spoke her name, he was reading to her as she leaned on the wooden boat's stern. Her language too difficult for him, she was content to listen and learn, but he insisted on knowing. She didn't understand, for it was a foreign concept to her. 

The others in her home treated her with caution because she looked and acted differently. He pointed to his name in the sky and then pointed to her looking down to the text in his hands. His brow furrowed in deep thought for a moment before he closed it with a decisive snap. 

“Hermione” and smiled brightly to her.

The first time he kissed her, her webbed fingers got caught in his black tresses and she almost took half of his head of hair. He laughed loudly and kissed her again.

The first time she spoke his eyes widened and then his face returned to a painful sorrow. 

“Good….bye?” 

She was confused. She looked up to him and his friends as they floated on the lake's surface looking equally sorrowful. 

“We will see each other again, Kitten” 

She swam next to their boat until her muscles seized and she couldn't go any further. She returned their waves, but not their smiles.

The first time she performed magic she used a worn, almost disintegrated book that had been thrown in the lake long ago.

The first time she breathed air without gills, the lake was quiet save for her gasping breaths under a low full moon. 

The first time she walked her thin, unsteady legs gave up before she could fully emerge from her old home. 

The first time she saw herself in the lake's reflection, she tilted her head back and forth curiously. She noted her youthful looks, freckles replacing her scales, and her body thin and flat when it was once curved. 

The first time she wore clothes was when an old wizard approached her cautiously and covered her small body with a soft blanket. 

The first time she asked about him was the first time she cried when she was told the tragic tale. 

The first time she made a wizard's oath she learned that she would need to protect his godson. 

“Don't worry, we will keep your secret and help you start a new life, in exchange for helping me”

The old wizard smiled but his eyes held deep secrets. 

The first time she felt distrust she knew her life would never be the same again.

OMFFFFG the dnd roleplay!!!

ok, serious, THAT is what spicy byler fandom needs. not just because its hot, but because its literally so in character, and it's .... like that IS real. and yeah you could say its the most explicit kind of sexualisation of their childhood selves so far because of the dnd associations in the show, but you could also say the show itself is a horrorification (and sexualisation if you read the metaphor a certain way) of their childhood gameplay. so...

and yes its so cringe but the best freaking kind, the kind the show gives you! i was only cringing on their behalf rather than out of my own guilt which i do still get a bit of when i enjoy anything spicy byler lol. and weirdly its even hotter BECAUSE its not just for us. because its for them, so in character, it becomes hotter? yessssss youve done it

and theres no WAY that will, who draws real-person fanart about their party lol, has never fantasised about this. i mean, his very painting is a fantasy put to canvas. and mike with that paladin sword.... oh, you knowwwww that there's gonna be some dirty talk about swords somewhere... * shudder * who knows, maybe them creating these characters was even will's sexual awakening about mike? imagining him in these courageous contexts etc

the use of will's magic in their dirty talk hehehe im imagining them actually writing a whole mini scenario to play out, not even just getting lost in the moment but properly planning it sometimes cos they couldnt believe how hot it was first time it happened 🙊🙊 (ok now i need to know who instigated the first time. pre-party meet up too! these boys are wild). and also - they way they bounce off each other at suzie's in the show? theyre TELLING us that these two can roleplay! so why not sexy too when theyre older? yessssssss correct

i cringed with joy at the way you wrote this. perfection. sometimes i bad-cringe at the impersonal-ness of byler smut with pet names anyone in the world could use, cos its so easy for them to stop being mike and will and start being random bodies having sex, but this specificity feels like its so them and it could only be them.

using their dnd names??? ACCENTS????? 😭 i'm imaginging their idea of king arthur british medieval ahhhhhhh

+ partially dressed in costume????? the wizard hat falling off immediately when will bounces?? his floopy flowing robes just hiked up over his thighs?????????? that's period drama-level sex right there, even better than totally naked. mike just having a bit of armour over his shoulders, nothing else? ughhhhhh

honestly i have never been in nerd culture like this irl, but i can totally see how fantasy would develop from childhood to adulthood like this... its natural for everyone because imagination and pretend play in childhood is often lost as we grow (unless someone is a creative/artist/imagination-forward adult) and the only place that playfulness remains for many folk is through sexual expression. sex is where adults play. so why the heck not this for byler? its so on track i literally am so excited to see what you do with this, not least because perhaps for these boys, this is one of the only ways they can reclaim their love of this game after all the trauma they went through. beautiful 😭😭😭

This ask was sent back in early June after this post and a bunch of chatter about potentially writing a fic expanding on the idea. I draft and forget so many asks (oops, sorry 🫣) and thought I might have had s relevant one stashed away. I hope you're still around, maybe you're someone who's made a blog between then and now! This was all before I even planned an official outline and I thought... would it be crazy if I expanded on the idea? Hilarious. I have so many other wips in the works but I don't think I want to fully leave our little role-playing nerds behind. I'll drop random drabbles about that whole vibe over time when inspiration strikes. Love everything about these two boys.

Instant

Without hesitation, the blade came through. The hand holding his jacket went slack at a single second, not even the light of the ‘CRITICAL ERROR’ turned on as the head of the worker was stabbed with ferocity, the sword came at millimeters of his face, the EMP gun that the worker held fell to the snowy ground.

For seconds, a trance of sorts kept this odd trio on place, N held his synthetic breath for what seemed an eternity, and V with all the wanton abandon grew in delight by the oil trail that was starting to bleed from the wound. The worker knew no more.

It ended as quick as it began. Before N could regain composure, V tugged the worker to the ground, oil staining the snow as she withdrew the blade, soon enough she had latched herself to her feast. The male worker stared with uncertainty of what had just happened.

The female simply digged into the carcass, taking advantage while the inner systems that had just shut down kept the food warm. The scene retained shards of the odd trance for mere instants, before N tried to speak to her coworker once more.

“V…” He was about to say a thank you, anything to just show gratitude he didn’t ended up turned into scrap for whatever hideous purpose the corrupted workers had, yet-

“Fucking eating, thank you very much, you…” It was mumbled as she kept ripping the worker open and eating “Don’t you have to go patrol or something?”

N couldn’t but give a sigh as this ended like so many contacts with her again, he always felt this predilection to talk to her, a faint resonance into his very being that she and him somehow should be talking, yet it was at times like speaking to a brick wall. Not really interested into keep seeing her taking her sweet time with the carcass, his wings spread out as he took flight.

The wish for at least being able to reach to her, and for her to remember his name, still lingering.

How do I participate?

Because June 23rd is National Pink Day and it's Pride month! Also a majority of people who answered our survey wanted at least 2 weeks to prepare and we didn't want to go any later and get too close to the main Fall Glimbow Week.

Can you explain the Follow Your Arrow prompt?

Inspired by the Kacey Musgaves song by the same name, our intention was for that prompt to give everyone a chance to celebrate Glimbow's queer identities which can include not just Glimmer and Bow as bi but also other options such as them being trans, non-binary, QPR, aro, ace, demi, poly or whatever else you'd like to explore! Could be about coming out, attending a Pride event, or just being comfortable in your own skin and coming to terms with your identity! The only limit is the focus needs to be on Glimmer and Bow's relationship.

And if you really can't think of anything Pride related and want to make it literally about arrows, go for it!

I don't vibe with these prompts but I still want to participate.

So I was never super into the mini series, but I had watched it because one of my best friends was terrified of Pennywise...so what better motivation to give it a whirl? I was super excited when Chapter 1 came out though because I loved the Pennywise design so much more. And because, once again, my friend was having a fit over it so for some reason it made me all the more excited? After I saw Chapter 1 and watched how the Losers interacted in it, I HAD to make Xan watch it aaannnnnnnd the rest is history.

Characters: I really love them all, but my favorites are Richie and Eddie.

There are so so so many great fanfictions out there, but I am an idiot who does not save anything and then can never find it again. SIIIIIIIIIIIIGH. I am Queen of Pity Parties over my uploaded art so I am always bummed over most of my art and the lack of notes. Which once again, shouldn’t matter because the people who do like, reblog, comment and all that good stuff mean so much to me anyway! I’m not even going to link anything. I don’t have a style that stands out or is really distinguishable for characters. Like, you wouldn’t see it and think “Oh Reddie!” So I think between that and the fact its more anime/chibi styled I think it gets overlooked.

Perhaps you have a lot of ideas, or maybe a list of songs that remind you of a certain rare pair? Headcanons and fanmixes or AMV’s are always welcome! So are songs, cosplay, moodboards and any kind of other fanworks!

Again, as long as it is original (not reposted… that’s a no-no, tsk tsk), then anything under the sun is possible.

However, if a certain post happened to inspire you, then we say go for it! Just remember to credit the original poster, and please do make sure that the inspired work is an original one as well.

As much as possible, we are encouraging creators to post on the day of the given prompt, in their most convenient time. But, if both are not feasible, then please tell us so, and we’ll make accommodations. However, please know that we will post it on the day the chosen prompt was scheduled.

Of course! The more KHR rarepair content, the better! Just make sure to label/tag/link properly so we’re not reblogging duplicates. Are NSFW entries allowed?

As we only accept rare pairings, it’s logical this would come up! Our definition of rare pairing is as follows: any pairing not in the top ten pairings on AO3. That means we do not accept entries with these pairings:

I was just wondering for this rare pair does it have to be romantic ships or can it be like platonic ships as well?

We accept all kinds of ships for this event, including platonic and aromantic! The content we’re attempting to generate aims at fics that have interaction between characters who don’t always interact with each other, so all kinds of interaction are lovely. How explicit, inexplicit, ship-py or not you want to make this interaction is up to you.

If I already have a work in progress, can I add it to the collection regardless of how long I posted it on AO3? Or does it have to be a brand new work for the rarepair week?

This is a perfectly valid question, but I’m afraid we’re going to have to say no. Mostly because, while we’d love to have your work, this week was started because all of us wanted to generate more content for rare pairs in the fandom. Meaning linking works that have already been posted or are WIPs defeats the purpose.

However, we’re happy to have offshoots of a previously published work, or a WIP! Meaning, if you’d like to write and submit a separate one-shot set in the same ‘verse as your WIP for the week, we’d be glad to have it.

I’m writing fic for my entries, are there any word count restrictions? 

No, entries can be however long you want. You could have a multi-chaptered fic, or write one-shots, whatever you like! The goal of the KHR rarepair week is creating more content, so don’t feel the need to set the bar high if you don’t feel like it! A 100-word drabble? More than enough if that’s what you want to do!

On the Topic of OC Ships In the 2018 event, we allowed Canon Character/OC ships. At the time, there was no definite conclusion that us mods could come to so we decided to allow OC ships and would revisit it at a later time. We mods have finally come to answer.

We have chosen to define the following:

Rarepair – a pairing between canonical characters that is not popular.

Popular – in the top ten relationship tags on archiveofourown.org

Canonical Characters – a character we know at least the following 1) their name, 2) their appearance 3) the tiniest bits of personality and ideally 4) history. A loose rule of thumb: Can you google them and find canonical information? If yes, then you’re good.

Based on the definitions above, we regret to say that OC Ships are not allowed. And as always, crossover ships are allowed. (Crossover characters fit our canonical character definition, despite them not being from KHR)

That’s how it felt, as their bodies touched in this dance. Sucy held Akko slightly harshly as she focused on the dance as the cantata kept at a steady pace towards it’s crescendo. The hall was theirs, as the many guests of the Gala kept simple staring, the clumsy movements of the brown haired witch somehow keeping an odd pace and synchronicity with her mauve-haired lover.

“Sucy!” Akko uttered, giggling as they gave a spin “You never told me you took danced!”

The pale witch cracked an smile back that made a sharp contrast with the determined and focused look on her face.

“It is little what I wouldn’t do~” She leaned forwards, allowing Akko to almost touch the floor as she held her with delicacy and care “For you, guinea pig~” She whispered as she returned them both to a more standard position.
