CW mutilation: Fox’s right hand index-finger: “Ahsoka’s Gift” - In the arc where Fives (appears) to get shot by Fox, enraged by this and by her treatment by the Coruscant guard during her trial arc, Ahsoka takes revenge on the offending digit that shot the gun. With her teeth, btw — it gets a bit wild. Side-note: It factors in for the other clones that Fox is not right-handed, but that’s the hand he uses to shoot Fives. Then again, most clones are trained/raised/adjusted to be ambidextrous, so — it’s just odd all around, from the outside.

GAR armor: In keeping with the AU title and inspiration (Repurposing GAR armor towards the end of pulverizing wrinkly Sith — A guide by CC-1010, ecstatically-ex-marshal commander of Coruscant), Fox has kept his GAR shoulder-guards, a cutout of his chestplate, and knee-guards (plus one shin-guard), though the paint on them has been adjusted or worn.

Oversized sleeve: Beneath the batwing sleeve and dramatic flair, Fox is hiding whatever the rebellion uses instead of the Mandalorian Whistling Birds, in addition to an elbow-mini-blaster that fires a max of four shots, and extra ammo. (Also the sleeve is removable — think detachable bridal train)

CW self-destruction: On the reverse side of his chest-plate piece, Fox has an explosive device with multiple ways to rig it to explode. While it is detachable and likely could be used to explode OTHER things, the primary intent is a last resort gesture of defiance should he run out of other options.

Fox also has a replaced tooth (which he makes use of, but no spoilers here) and a metal plate protecting the surgery point for when his chip was removed. Since Fox is Fox, he prioritized speed over care at the time, so it is permanent vulnerability due to how his skull was treated and recovered afterward.

the way that ravage clearly loves and idolizes megatron genuinely makes me ill you have no idea. like this is someone who clearly still adores megatron despite being betrayed by him. and on the other side, the way megatron interacts with ravage in this entire scene is so,,, he's tired. he isn't at all what ravage idolizes and he knows that. he doesn't know what he is anymore but he's not the valiant savior ravage needs and wants him to be, and he Knows it.

ravage is clinging to a version of megatron that no longer exists (or maybe never did in the first place, and only existed in ravage's mind) and megatron no longer has anything to cling to so he rejects his past completely. these two make me ill.

i’ve seen conflicting opinions on whether eddie would listen to springsteen, but i feel like the answer should be obvious. i mean, the guy painted a woody guthrie reference onto his first guitar, you can’t tell me he doesn’t have a soft spot for the johnny cashes and the willie nelsons and yes, the bruce springsteens of the world. guys with gravelly voices who sing about loss and disillusionment and being left behind, by life or the government or the girl they love. add in that springsteen openly made out with another man on stage (a black man no less) and you can’t tell me eddie wouldn’t be hooked. queer guy sings about being stuck in a small town and doomed love and hating the man? that’s his fucking shit right there. maybe he wouldn’t admit to liking him in public to protect his metalhead cred, but eddie values music, he values sincerity, he values bravery.

anyway my point is that in the 90s/00s eddie is absolutely a closet dixie chicks fan and i will die on this hill

The idea that if post redemption Anakin was sent back he'd do anything besides trying to work out how to take down Palpatine without disrupting the timeline enough to prevent Luke and Leia's birth... I'm sorry, Obi-Wan would be a major factor in Anakin's wider plans, but he himself wouldn't be priority... which is WAY more interesting to me, how would Obi-Wan handle not being the center of Anakin's world with little explanation and combined with strange behavior? I picture him going to the council with his concerns, but them being, not approving of Anakin, never that, but amenable to the changes in his attitude. Yoda tells him to support these improvements, and if Anakin suggests any less than warm feelings for the senator, great, they'd rather he not be in the man's pocket anyway (even if they do keep sending him to visit the man privately like responsible jedi who care for child safety). I'd like to see someone write how Obi-Wan handles that. Because I truly don't see Anakin trusting him with his knowledge of the future, and I do think Obi-Wan would be shaken to have love-monster, validation-hungry padawan Anakin suddenly cool on him overnight and focus on... Idk it would depend on what Anakin's plan would hinge on, and I don't think he'd blow his chance to right things by being a toddler and running straight at the sith lord guns blazing, I think he was a powerful opponeny both as Vader and Anakin, and not just for sheer strength.

Anyway. Here's to an ANH-compliant ambivalent-to-Obi-Wan time traveling Anakin and a confused and suspicious younger Obi-Wan grappling with that

From previous asks where you mention being annoyed at Hasbro for mandating the modern Optimus voices be like Peter Cullen, I'm guessing you weren't a fan of Transformers Prime having Peter Cullen himself come back to do Optimus?

Gonna pull from a couple of my debate posts on TFW2005 for this.

For the record, Cullen's best takes on Optimus were in G1 and the 2007 movie up to DOTM (and arguably AOE, if you really want to include that).

With that said, I am tired of Peter Cullen's portrayal of Optimus being put on a pedestal and shoved in our faces, to the point where modern incarnations, even when not voiced by Cullen, have actors who are mandated most of the time to try and sound like him.

Also, if fans are obsessed with Peter Cullen's portrayal to the point where they will rate poorly written or mediocre Optimus Prime portrayals (TFP, Bay Films) over objectively better written Optimus portrayals out there, then there's a bias problem.

I also think Cullen's portrayal is growing stale inevitably due to age.

He was the right age to play a father figure in G1.

In the Bay Movies, and to a lesser extent the High Moon Games, he was more of a military leader first, so whatever effects age had on his performance as Optimus were acceptable.

But honestly, with other parts of Aligned trying to make Optimus a father figure again (when they're not trying to stupidly make him a god), their attempts fall flat because Cullen is just too old to sound like a father. He sounds increasingly more and more like a grandfather figure, which isn't his fault, but is inevitable due to the passage of time.

It is grating and frankly cheesy (and not in a good way) when, particularly in TFP, Optimus refers to those of his senior troops as "old friends" — yet said troops still sound young enough to be the equivalent of his children.

Going back in the Aligned timeline to the WFC and FOC games, I'd have Optimus NOT be voiced by Peter Cullen. He was supposedly young when he got promoted to the rank of Prime, so have his voice reflect that, ya know?

Also, there was a time on TFW2005 that a number of G1 / Cullen fans were clamouring for Optimus to be voiced by an AI that could replicate Peter Cullen once Cullen is actually gone.

Which is, frankly, farcical.

If a franchise is timeless because one of the things it does is reinvent itself for future generations, then locking one of the main characters to a literal portrayal of their first incarnation — done by AI, just to remind you — is a disservice to the character, the actor, the story, the franchise, and filmmaking, acting, and audiences as a whole.

Focusing again on Transformers Prime, the show's writing issues seem to get a lot of free passes just because Optimus and Megatron are portrayed by Peter Cullen and Frank Welker yet again.

That's honestly why I personally push the need for new voice actors for all the characters (as long as they're professional) in each incarnation as possible, rather than more role reprisals. Because 1) let's be fair to other great voice actors and give them a chance, and 2) people are gonna get complacent with acting and writing standards if the same acclaimed voice keeps coming back to multiple incarnations over and over again.

Him looking angry while dueling Ventress or whatever is NOT the same. Honestly I think it's a sign that people aren't willing to consider the Sand People/Tuskans actual people because they're way too taken in by Anakin (and Padme) 's perspective, (and probably a refusal to see people that look foreign to them as people in general?). Like he killed kids. This is the whole big thing where the audience is told that he's becoming Vader. Nothing in Clone Wars will ever be as bad as what he does after Shmi dies, or as emotionally impactful. This is his face:

That dead-eyed, zombie stare? That pouty shitty anger? That I should be at the club but im choosing to kill people instead face? he looks like he's choking on something. He looks like he's gonna die. He looks like he's gonna fall over. He looks like a kid who found out their hamster died. I pity him, he's awful, i love him, he's stupid, he's the best, he's the worst.

This is Darth Vader, it's awful to meet him, he'll be back sooner than anyone would like.

Clone Wars is cool and all but it will never measure up to that face.
