#fan fiction poll

I am thinking about fan fiction writers, but anyone who writes any kind of fiction can answer. (As far as I’m aware, non-fiction is usually written in the past tense - but if I’m wrong do let me know!)

If you like, explain why in the tags!

When I was young I gathered that all serious works of fiction were written in the past tense (past tense third person to be precise) so that is what i did when I started writing. However my mind was blown by the power and immediacy of Margaret Atwood writing in the present tense so I started to experiment with it myself, and now i strongly favour it. I get the impression that past is still the most commonly used, but I’m prepared to be surprised!

I’ll probably do some of these anyway, but I’m interested to hear what your thoughts are/if there’s any specific suggestions.

I will probably turn some of these into multi-panel scenes if I can; I need to practice doing those anyway. So bear that in mind.

And if there’s anything not here you’re interested in, feel free to ask. I need to do a commission piece anyway so I’ll be needing the warmup practice and be fiddling around with ideas anyway. Why not kill two birds with one stone.

If not a writer, what do you like to do as a reader? Commenting is a great way for author’s and readers to connect! Trust me when I say a good comment can make an author’s whole month!!!

the #author wants to hear about dead batteries tag has always kinda bugged me, in part because i suspect porn writers who don't want comments about readers getting off to their porn are a small minority of porn writers, which would mean that the norm should be it's cool to comment "do you know how much i masturbate to this", and authors who don't want those comments can have their own tag instead.

but i am speculating wildly, so please reblog and give me some data!
