"They didn't just found out! They already knew!"

You and Chengcheng were sitting in the living room staring up to the rest of his dorm mates as if you guys have broken the law. It was embarrassing but you did feel guilty. You had been best friends with the rest of the group and hiding the reality of yours and Chengcheng’s relationship was hard but you both decided it was for the best.

“You guys…” Cheng started to speak to the group which Justin shot him a cold glare which made Cheng’s voice dim and stay silent. You wandered your eyes around the room trying to avoid the ones of the boys standing in front of you. You bit your lip as you tried to think of a way to explain.

“It was my idea!” You expressed loudly catching everybody, your especially boyfriend by surprise. You stood up nervously and waited for someone to stop you because you had no idea where you were going with your speech, but unfortunately the other eight boys kept quiet letting you go on.

“You see.. Cheng has such a loud mouth…” You could see from your peripheral view that Chengcheng looked up to you in shock. You mentally apologized to him as you carried on. “I knew he would tell everybody when we started dating… so I didn’t want him to get in trouble or anything…”

“We knew.” Zhengting spoke. You were about to come up with more excuses but his words were a genuine surprise to you. The eight boys let out a set of giigles as they watched yours and Cheng’s facial expressions change.

“Cheng! They didn’t just found out! They already knew!” You exclaimed as you hit your boyfriends arm repetitively

“Aye! I heard him, calm down you animal…” He told you as he rubbed the area which you hit formerly. You gave him an empty apology as you still were trying to think of ways of they found about you dating Cheng. Your boyfriend beat you to the punch. “How’d you guys know? Was it me? When did I slip up?”

The dorm mates continued to laugh but finally one of them stopped in order to answer. “It was actually Y/n, who slipped up.”

You were caught off guard by that statement. An embarrassed blush ran across your face. “When? When did I slip up?”

“All the time.” Justin pitched in with a snicker at the end which made you flinch a little because you knew he were about to expose you. “You sleep over in his room all the time, you post snaps with Cheng’s ugly shoes in the frame, and….you kissed my cheek once when I woke you from a nap then you said ‘Hey Cheng’...gross…”

Cheng jumped up in glee. “It wasn’t me! Ha!”

You face palmed yourself as you watched you boyfriend laugh along with the rest of your friends who loved to expose you for trying to keep secrets. You sighed and joined in with the laughs as there was nothing you could do now

1. “The skirt is supposed to be this short.”

41. “You’re going out dressed like that?”

“Cheng! Are you almost ready?” You tried hard not to shake as your hand approached your eye, with exaggerated, fake lashes attached to your tweezer. 

From somewhere in the house, you heard a disgruntled sound and shuffling as your boyfriend appeared in the doorway of the bathroom in his pajamas. You jerked away in surprise, falsies completely forgotten.

“You’re going out dressed like that? What happened to your Frankenstein outfit?”

“I can’t go. My sister just texted me, saying I have to pick her up at the airport.”

“Whose bride am I going to be then, if you can’t go?”

Chengcheng frowned. “I know, I’m sorry. She literally decided to pick this day to come back and surprise Chen-ge. If I could have it any other way, I’d ditch her at the airport and tell her to call a driver. Baby, I’m sorry.”

You had already forgiven him but decided in the prankster spirit of Halloween, you were going to give him a hard time. “Well, I guess I’ll have to go to the party and find myself another Frankie.”

Chengcheng grabbed your waist and lowered his head so he could stare sternly into your eyes. “Don’t you dare. You’re my bride.”

You giggled and wiggled out of his grasp. “I know, I get it. I’ll just have to fend off the ghouls myself.”

He leaned his tall frame on the wall and silently appraised you as you once more began your struggle with the false lashes. The glue had long dried, so you were gently smearing on another layer and blowing on it to get the perfect hardness before application.

You tiptoed to see your target better and immediately you heard him gasp. “Must you really wear that?”

“The lashes?” You murmured, face and lips contorted as this time, you finally aimed for your lashline and got it right. You sank back on your heels and fluttered your eyes, admiring the way the lashes curved up towards your lids, nearly kissing your eyebrows in their dramatic effect. 

“No. The skirt. You’re basically wearing nothing.”

Tiptoeing had caused your skirt to rise up your thighs into a quite provocative length. “Can’t you go as like the mummy or something? Then you definitely can justify being single.” 

“Babe, it’s Halloween. The skirt is supposed to be this short.”

He crossed his arms and huffed. “Well, I don’t like it. It shows too much leg. What if you’re not careful and a breeze makes it go up?”

You crossed your eyes at him, an effect surprisingly comical given that you only had one extra long set of lashes on. “Cheng, it’s a bodycon dress. It doesn’t go up with the breeze.”

“Yeah, well, what if you don’t sit properly and everyone can see?”

“It’ll be too dark for people to be concerned about my underwear.” You turned back to the mirror and decided to tackle the second set of lashes. At this rate, you were going to be late, as per usual.

“If that’s the case, why don’t you go as a potato sack?”

The second time around was surprisingly easy and you blinked once, twice to ensure that the lashes would stay on. Giving them a final swipe of mascara, you pursed your lips, satisfied at the result.

You turned to Chengcheng and stretched up to kiss him briefly. “I love you. If you can get your sister home safely, join me at the party. I’ll be the one in the shortest skirt.” You giggled as he tried to protest but managed to weave yourself past him and down the stairs. “See you later!”

“Chengcheng…” you hesitantly look up at your best friend.

“So, what do you want to tell me?” he asks, flashing you with that ridiculously goofy yet charming smile at you.

You blushed, “I like you.”

Your brows furrowed and you subconsciously held your breath. A hot minute passed, but Chengcheng hasn’t said anything yet. You reached to take his hand in yours.

“Chengcheng…please just say something,” you beg.

“Friends forever, right? Isn’t that what you said?” Chengcheng shakily chuckles, subtly pulling his hand out of yours.

“Oh, that’s fine. I just wanted to get it off my chest,” you look down, trying to hide your bubbling tears.

“I-I’m sorry,” he pulls you into a hug.

You let yourself relax in his comforting grip for a few seconds before harshly pushing him away. You wipe away your tears, shaking your head. You can’t do that to yourself. It’s time to get over him now.

“Go. Just go,” you look up, but avoiding eye contact.

“Y/n…” he tries to grab hold of your hand.

“Please, just let me get over you in peace,” you push his hand away.

Without giving him any time to respond, you turn and walk the other way. You had to get away from him. You had to get away before you fell further and harder for the boy. Despite how much you want to remain as friends, you knew that doing so would just trap you in an endless cycle of being in love and crying yourself to sleep over your best friend.

Little did you know, Chengcheng’s tears dripped all over the ground from his sparkly eyes. His heart yearns, beats, aches, for you, but he didn’t have the heart to tell you that he would be moving away.

“Come one y/n, please” Chengcheng begged as you remained unfazed by his puppy eyes. You’ve seen enough for a life time even though you secretly wouldn’t mind looking another time.

STAN DING ZEREN YOU FUCKING COWARDS

“Y/N IS HERE!!”

You groan.

Well, you tried to sneak in? And you got all the way to the kitchen without them noticing, which is better than before, at least?

Emphasis on the word tried. But you know, it’s a little hard to sneak into a dorm full of seven boys who all have a penchant for sniffing out food.

Really. It’s like if there’s food within a mile radius, they’ll go for it, even if it’s raw meat or something gross like that. You know this because you’ve brought that in before.

Zeren tried to help you in, but to no avail. Xinchun spotted you literally five seconds after you got into the kitchen.

“Did she bring food?!” Justin yells, skidding to a stop in the kitchen entrance.

You groan, shoving your bags behind your back. “Don’t even try,” you threaten. “I know how to use the knives in here.” Zeren snorts as Justin takes a step back.

“And yes, I brought food,” you continue, taking things out of the bags. “But if you want any, you’ll stay out of the kitchen! Only Zeren’s allowed in.”

“What?! Why?” Chengcheng whines, joining the small group just outside of the kitchen.

“Because he’s my boyfriend.” You continue piling things onto the counter. “And all of you would steal the food!”

Zhengting’s voice calls from the living room, saving you from a chorus of more complaints. “Guys, shut up and let Y/N cook!”

“What a savior,” you mutter as the other boys shuffle away, not without much grumbling.

Zeren just laughs. “So, what are we cooking today?”

“We’re not cooking, we’re baking.” You tug out a bag of flour. “Cookies. Can you get the eggs out?”

. . . . .

“Can we please help?”

“Please?”

“Pretty please?”

You look at Zeren, nearly in tears. You’d expect sympathy from your boyfriend but he’s also fought you over the remote control before, so you’re not surprised to see him grinning at the side.

“Hey! Don’t eat the cookie dough!” you yell, shoving Quanzhe’s grabby hand aside.

“Too late,” Justin sings, a lump of dough on his finger. Before you can tell him off, he sticks it in his mouth.

“ZHU ZHENGTING! REIN IN YOUR KIDS!” you yell, hovering protectively over the cookie dough.

“THAT’S A LITTLE HARD!” he yells back, finally appearing in the kitchen.

Zeren takes your side, pushing his way to you amidst the group of hungry boys. “If you get E.coli from eating that dough, I’m not the one taking you to the hospital,” he says, sliding an arm around your waist.

“Yeah, I am,” Zhengting says grumpily, rifling through the cabinet shelves for snacks. “Eat this instead.” He tosses a bag of chips at Justin’s head. The younger boy falls exaggeratedly, causing another huge commotion.

“Man down!” Chengcheng screams, prompting a loud chorus of his words from the rest of the boys.

You kind of want to walk out to the roof and throw yourself off, but Zeren anchors you down, his arm around your waist keeping you sane. You focus on the good things. At least they aren’t trying to steal the dough now.

“God help me,” you mutter.

Zeren laughs, kissing your cheek.

“Ew! Zeren just kissed Y/N!”

“We’re dating, dimwit!” you snap. “And - FAN CHENGCHENG, TAKE YOUR FINGER OUT OF THAT BOWL RIGHT NOW.”

The offending boy stops immediately, looking extremely guilty.

But then Wenjun appears, towering over everyone else, and sticks his finger into the bowl of dough.

You let out a strangled scream of frustration, shoving Wenjun away and into the other boys crowded in the kitchen entrance. “If you don’t get out now, none of you are getting cookies when they’re done!”

A chorus of complaints follows but Zeren snatches the bowl away, leaving you free to body-slam four boys out of the kitchen. “Now get out and stay out!” you yell.

“Why?” Justin whines.

They stop complaining when you put a hand on a knife.

You finish the cookies in record time, mostly because Zeren is actually being helpful for once and because the faster you finish, the less time the other boys have to try and mess things up.

“Is it a game for them?” you wonder aloud. “To try and steal as much food as possible before I can actually cook it? Or bake it?”

“Probably,” Zeren says from the sink, where he’s washing out the cookie dough bowl.

“Do you all realize that if you steal the food before it’s done, you get less food later?” You raise an eyebrow. “How did you guys even get through school if you have that little common sense?”

“It’s Yuehua,” Zhengting deadpans, entering the kitchen to dig through the refrigerator. “It’s almost a requirement to lack common sense if you’re going to join.”

You snicker. “You’re not wrong.”

“Hey!” Zeren looks indignant.

“Oh, come on, Zeren, you know how stupid you act sometimes,” you snort, shoving him. A spray of water from the sink splashes onto your shirt, but you grin anyway.

Zeren turns around, narrowing his eyes. You back away, eyeing him nervously.

And then you bolt.

“Get back here!” you hear him yell, but that only spurs you on. You quickly duck behind Wenjun, who looks very lost, but Zeren’s a little too fast and manages to drag you onto the floor.

He then proceeds to tickle you until you’re gasping, in tears, dying of laughter on the floor.

“STOP!” you scream, finally managing to roll over on top of Zeren. He grunts, not ready for your full weight to drop right on him, and his hands still. You roll off of him, panting.

“Pileup!” someone yells, and suddenly someone’s weight is on top of you, squashing you into Zeren’s side. Then someone else drops themselves onto the pile, and then another, until you feel the weight of at least four people crushing you onto the floor.

You let out a defeated groan, not unlike the one you heard when Chengcheng sat on Zhengting on Idol Producer. “Heeelllpp…” you wheeze.

Finally, the weight lessens. You hear Zhengting grunt and assume he’s pulling people off of you. “This is your fault, Zeren,” you mutter.

“My fault? How?”

And then the oven goes off, and you stare in dismay at the horde of boys running into the kitchen screaming, “COOKIES!”

“They’re going to burn themselves,” you mutter apathetically.

Zeren laughs and pulls you a little closer. “Let them burn,” he says. “We can just lie here in peace.”

“True.” You snuggle into his side.

Somewhere in the kitchen, Chengcheng screams. “I BURNED MY FINGER!”
