Thinking about how Adam Young made War, Famine, and Pollution vulnerable by saying they’re not real, that they’re just like nightmares. Maybe that wasn’t true before he said it.
Thinking about how there’s a pattern of treating these things as powerful forces outside our control (gods, horsemen, unavoidable outcomes of natural laws). But then we figure out what we’re doing to make them happen, and that gives us the ability to modify them. Calling them human-made makes them so.

famine's character is so much more fleshed out in the book compared to the show
like in the book, he didnt just have "CHOW" he also had "SNACKS" and "MEALS"
SNACKS was junk food made out of literal junk
MEALS was the same as CHOW but with added fat and sugar so that you would 1. get extremely overweight and 2. die of malnutrition

You know I kinda love how the them sort of connect with the four horseman, with war telling pepper to "go home and play with her dolls" and was focused on speaking to Adam, Brian and Wensleydale, while pepper is very big on feminism and is against such stereotypes. Then there is Brian and pollution where of course Brian is known as the grimy one in the group and pollution tends to make a mess everywhere he went like with his motorcycle spilling oil as he rode so I believe there may be a connection there, then there is famine and Wensleydale, and I notice that Wensleydale does usually talk about having an appetite for home like when Anathema offered them sandwiches and he said he had a nutritious lunch at home for him. Then lastly there is death and Adam, bad while Adam never really made death disappear like the others there is a sort of connection? I think, well in the show it is seen that Adam is not a child of heaven nor hell, and one of the lines that death said when the four horsemen were in the communications centre, someone asked death "who the hell are you?" And death responded with "I AM NEITHER OF HELL NOR HEAVEN" which is again like how Adam isn't a child of hell or heaven but human. So yeah those are some connections I came up with for the them and the four horsemen

This post has probably been made before, but I just finished s1ep5 of Good Omens and I'm obsessed with the parallels between Adam's friend group and the four horsemen, especially in the final hours. Pepper and War both wearing red jackets. Wensleydale's jacket being paler than the others', like Pollution's white clothes. Brian and Adam, not quite on equal footing, with Adam leading the way similarly to the way Death does. Death doesn't ask opinions, and by episode 5, neither does Adam.
Just...UGH I love symbolism and parallels and this show is chock full of them

After that dramatic moment where the four horsemen get together in the coffee shop, do you recon they all stuck around for their tea
What a beautiful bit of imagery

daily pollution it’s the horsemen today but shhh lore i thought up in the shower part 37
While they do not have birthdays, the horsemen (except for Death) all popped into existence.
First was Pestilence, who poured from the rotting body of the lion that Adam killed. He didn’t exactly follow them, just walked off to do his own thing until they had to kill something else.
Next was War, who came to life when Adam and Eve had their first fight. She toddled behind them for a while.
Then Famine, after Adam and Eve went their first night hungry. He and War followed after them for quite a while.
Pollution was much later. They crawled out of a smoking pitcher of oil down in the Cloaca Maxima or something during the fire of Rome.
Death encountered Pestilence at the lion’s corpse, not knowing why, but taking him along with him. He found War and Famine after they both got their first kills, taking them both along with him as well.
So, there Death was, with three young kids trailing after him, trying to figure out what they were, if they were demons, angels, or something else entirely. Death raised them.

four bikers of the apocalypse appreciation art!!

i like to imagine how they signed the packages
war's signature was said to be messy, almost illegible
conversely, i imagine famine would write very neatly/cursive
pollution's signature might've looked like pestilence in the middle, but started and ended with pollution. it's also smudged and dirty
death never actually signed anything, but his voice was described as "an inscription on a tombstone between two dates"

“Give Me Coffee or Give Me Death” always cracks me up because “Liberty” already has “tea” in it. And they definitely sell tea too! Maggie has some when she gives Nina the record.
But oh noooo, we can’t bring tea into a reference to a Revolutionary American! They really did not want that tea! He’d be drinking coffee!
It’s giving West End production of Hamilton, it’s giving Famine’s Iowa diner, it’s giving Sister Mary Loquacious telling Arthur Young “we call these biscuits, but you’ll be looking at them and going ‘oh, cookies’.”

Destiny Calls His Children
Tumblr media
If you haven't heard me banging on about this before... Congratulations. 😅
But, the spin off comic series, Destiny a Chronicle of Deaths Foretold, focuses on John Ryder, the Horseman Pestilence. Before he is born to a mortal mother and father, Destiny informs his mother she will bare 'his' son. And upon reaching adulthood and finding his way through the Garden of Forking Ways, John is granted his new vocation as Pestilence by Destiny. The end of the comic gives a subtle indication the same process has happened for the other horsemen. And I've been fascinated by this concept ever since. That the four horsemen are know as the 'Children of Destiny'. It's all left as vague as many references to the Endless in the Sandman Universe. If these children actually are in a sense Destiny's, or he just claims them as under his dominion... Who knows. But combined with Good Omens, oh do I have headcannons galore!
(Apparently Pestilence's sigil is a poisoned bow. In the comics, his horse is called Paladin and is pure white. So the horses represent Famine (black) , War (red) , Pestilence (white) and Pollution (pale green) : The scales, The Sword, The Bow and the Crown.)

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Good Omens - Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett, Good Omens (TV) Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Famine & Frannie (Good Omens), Famine/Frannie (Good Omens), Famine & War (Good Omens) Characters: Famine (Good Omens), Frannie (Good Omens), War (Good Omens), Pollution (Good Omens) Additional Tags: Medical Inaccuracies, I did research but artistic liberties were taken, Hospitals, Hospitalization, Car Accidents, Hurt/Comfort, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Mortality, specifically the emotional crisis of your best friend being mortal while you are not, War is a good big sister, Famine needs a hug, Famine and Frannie's relationship is indefinable, Crying, Angst with a Happy Ending Summary:
Frannie was one more in a long line of Famine’s human relationships, and she was as special to him as all of the others had been. Maybe even more so, War sometimes thought. The bond they had formed over the years felt different. Famine trusted and relied on Frannie in ways he rarely had anyone else.
War watched as Famine twitched violently and ground his teeth when he didn't find his keys in the only coat pocket he hadn't checked.
Of course, the downside of befriending humans was that they had a tendency to die.
Frannie is in a car accident and Famine has an emotional breakdown.
It’s finally done!
