Stuck in Phases (Dear dad)
My dad should’ve raised a better girl,
Because I know the son I am
Will not be his by age 18,
The idea
Of who he wants to me to be
All that he expects from me
It’s suffocating
I am afraid of myself.
I cover all my mirrors
And hide behind facades
I cut my hair
And hope to pray the gay away
But the gay is inside of me.
Dad,
Can’t you see?
It’s not a phase
All the stolen kisses from girls
And the curled hair to make it shorter
The masculine hand-me-downs from a big brother
I will never be
The girl you want to see.
I am a broken thing
A doll masquerading as living
I am the forgotten memories of a person
I am problematic
Twirling out of control
Like a broken ballerina figure
Always one step forward and six steps back.
You were right,
Dad.
I’m never getting over this
Thing,
Inside of me,
This demon clawing from my chest and in my head
SCREAMING
What if I’m never enough
I know when I grow up
I’ll lose your love
Because god hates fags
And you love the lord
More than you love the broken word
Of a heathen
Who whispers “love is love”
And wants a man in the mirror
Not a petite woman
Dad I’m dying,
I’m so afraid to ask if you’ll always love me
Even if I don’t follow the allegory stories, if I’m destined for hell will you leave me lonely?
What if I’m never what you want from me?
What if I fail before I fly?
I’ll never know why
I’m so fucked in the head. Maybe it’s like mom said.
“I’ll never be shit. I was born to quit.”
Dad am I worth it?
If you could get that chance
To pick between what never was and what failed to be?
Would you pick the original baby girl or me?
The one you lost,
Or the one that still disappoints
Reminding you of a monster you married
Dad, what if I die before you?
Dad what if I never go anywhere in life?
Am I worth all the strife?
Should I even be alive?
Why do I always fail to die?
Dad what if I don’t make it? Do you think I can take it?
All your high hopes make me feel like if I fall I’ll crash and burn
And I’ll make you sad
I’m trying, Dad.
I don’t want to lose you,
And if I have to play pretend
To keep this egg-shell dream from the end
Will you still love me,
Even if the me you love dies?
If she gives up her chest and listens to her heart?
That beats “him” from the start?
Dear dad,
I’m sorry.
And I’m terrified
You’ll abandon me.

Narrated a super poem called "Toys" by Edgar A Guest. It's a lovely sweet piece about a dad's perpetual weak spot for his children's happiness! 😁

Magic of Pirates
In a boat that’s rocky, feeling excited but,
Still a little uneasy
Far from my family
Missing them deeply
The faces besides me very familiar but,
Still not my family
The boat slowly moves forward
Following its track
I saw myself in the boat
My heart begins to race,
the flood of magic being injected into my soul
I feel my sister beside me,
Still not my family
The walls around change with every turn we make
The further the tracks move
The more my heart latches onto the ones I came with,
Still not my family
Laughter fills the walls,
Like the magic that filled my heart
It is the laughter that comes from my own mouth
The laughter that makes me feel at home, but I’m
Still not with my family
But, this feelings that I have
Feels like I’m with my family
I am with my family
                 I am with family

ROOT Hell is in the family. Wilting among the trees and rotting at the root. It is the wood thrown to the fire because the branch was too much to bare. Family is the you and the them, the smear of blood down the alter and the snare that has your neck. It is the lies under the pillow and the creaking stairs when you go to sleep. The howls in the night as you tell yourself this is fine as you see the shadows under the door. Mother is the moth that won’t leave your light alone. Father is the devil because she said it was his flame. Family is hurting you until you’re as broken as the rest, it is carrying the pain inside because you know they’re in your blood. You can’t escape whats in your veins and they say you have his eyes, but whats the use if all you see is broken glass beneath your tree. #poetry #poem #writing #writer #poetrycommunity #writingcommunity #writersofintagram #poet #poetsofinstagram #poems #familypoem #hate #family #pain #words #written words #amwriting #writers

Paradise
I am here
because of the sweat on my grandfather's brow rays of sun burning his forehead cooling with waves of sweat like aloe vera to a second-degree burn half moons of dirt buried in his fingernails every breath, a silent plea for mercy
I know those times weren’t easy I know you died a little when Grandma left this earth, for a better paradise than your arms could provide I am here I will never leave

Mother
You breathed life into me,
when I was a flick of dust in the mere image of imagination.
Shielded me in your womb
Guided me with your wisdom,
Feeing me the fruit of the earth.
I love you.

Faith At the horizon She sat in courage Sobbing silently With vast bravery And confidence that Her pleas of peace will Be heard and answered. At the horizon Filled with devotion And true loyalty She got assurance Of a love so true She grew firmer with True satisfaction Of her pleas answered. Your Family
Your family are people, you can depend, if you get in trouble, they shall defend. They are the one’s that understand, always willing to give you a hand.
Your family, you should always cherish, without them you would probably perish. Your connection with them is very deep, If something happens, together you weep.
Your family can help, your confidence build, with their love and support, you’ll feel fulfilled. Just don’t forget to show your appreciation, that will strengthen your relation.

UNTOLD STORIES
As time stops, no song of tacks and ticks,
Bittersweet memories begun to reminisce,
Hoped can be erased, prayed it doesn't exists,
How can I forget, Just tell me how, Please?
One day I asked you father,
Can you stop that habit of yours?
Oh Come on! Beer as Water? There's no free Liver at all!
Cursed you, asked God, Why have a father like you?
I hated you, most especially your gold eyes,
For love of money, you did everything to catch the prize,
I just did realize that you can't sympathize; Coz your heart is just as cold as ice.
Cursed you, asked God, Why have a mother like you?
I thought it would be just the only me?
But why do there's three attention seeker buzzing bees?
Just got they murdered in my mind, the way I like them how to die,
Cursed them, asked God, Why have siblings like them?
I asked HIM, "Why do I have to be in that family?"
Just said, "DAUGHTER, I believe that among all, it is YOU who can handle, understand, care, change and above all, it is JUST YOU who can love them the way I died for them."
That dream of mine, suddenly hammered my mind,
Am I being too much to be their own?
I woke up with a teary eye and heavy feeling,
Praying that Nothing might happen the way what I'm just thinking.
Above all, God believes in the ability of this bad ass girl,
That's why he played a trick and got me with my family.

Ode to the Woman Who Taught Me How To Read
Books are my outside.
I can open more doors through pages,
Then I could if they were on frames
When you ask me why I’m not outside,
You’re the one to blame.
You taught me how to sound out words,
So they don’t all sound the same.
Thank you for teaching me how to read,
Now everything else seems plain.
You are the reason to my success,
You were the one who taught me how to be my best.
I’m #blessed to have you as my mom.
Sorry to other children whose parent doesn’t major in English,
They’re doing it wrong.
