The Batman vs. Deathstroke arc in Deathstroke 2016 could have been vastly improved if it was just Dickbats instead of Bruce. Damian, kinda fucked because Bruce is missing or out of commission or maybe presumed dead again, finding out about the made up paternity test showing that Slade's his daddy and running off after him. Dick trying to corral the fucking kid and getting way too into Slade's business as a result. Slade wanting none of this. Alfred and Wintergreen having their gay little old man hangouts in the background. Adding back some of the nemesis-ship between Dick and Slade that was lacking between the 2011 reboot and Dark Crisis. Damian stuck in the middle of this weird custody battle where Dick is battling for custody and Slade is battling against it and they are somehow still battling even though they want the same thing. It's perfect.

It doesn't matter to JD Vance - or Trump's supporters - that the 'immigrants eating pets' stories are false. He's admitted as much, and says he will keep repeating them. Because "memes."

It also doesn't matter when it's pointed out to him that the Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio are in the country legally. He's going to keep calling them "illegal" because their legal status is not the thing about them that he finds objectionable.

It doesn't matter if they're legal immigrants or illegal immigrants. It doesn't matter that immigrants - regardless of legal status - are statistically much less likely to commit crimes than those born in the United States.

None of those things matter, because it's never been about those things.

Trump & JD Vance and all of their supporters hate immigrants. Full stop. The reasons and justifications will always shift and change to fit the present circumstances and political environment; reactionary politics at its finest. Meanwhile, the cold and vile core remains unchanged:

So, I'm a Xillenial -- AKA I was born during the "cusp" of Gen X & Millennials. I am very much culturally a Millennial though, so I generally go with that. I'm ... old. I've been around on the internet for nearly 30 years. (I was on the internet way too young, let's just say that! Wild West, etc.)

I've been RPing Bruce Wayne for approximately... twenty of those years online? Off and on, and more seriously ten years ago in 2014. I love him unto death. But I need a structure that is not given to me in comics: age. the passage of time. time being real.

So, when my wife and I looked into the bones of "The Bones of You" a decade previous, I realized that I needed to ... decide how old Bruce was. So I made him born in 1975 (thus staunchly a Gen X), because at the time, that'd make him at the cusp of 40. (A side note: I'm trying desperately to remember when slang was invented, so I'm hoping Urban Dictionary & Know Your Meme can help me not be an anachronistic mess.)

Now, well, I've crossed the line myself, and if he's still born in 1975... then he's almost fifty as of this year. And now I get it. A hand-wave kind of late-30's/early-40's vagueness in the comics keeps him relevant.

But, when it comes to our universe, we have plenty of stories to tell between now and the actual year. And also because it hurts my brain to think of a Bruce born in 1985 right now. I'm not moving the bar!!!

hey will be off tumblr for the rest of the week - things are Happening again and my head feels ready to explode.........would really appreciate prayer again. I'm constantly feeling like I'm on the brink of something (I don't KNOW what) terrible and I need to figure things out without before my body really DOES decide to shut down from the stress and the strange depressive dread that has been very difficult to shake this month. So while Max is in the hospital and everyone else is allowed to be near him, Iris told Bart to go to school to 'get used to being 'normal'' when he has NEVER dealt with this before in his entire life, is emotionally compromised, nearly nonfunctional, needs comfort and reassurance during a crisis, but he's instead at that moment being mocked and bullied by his classmates and teachers.

"There's nothing he can do here." IRIS there is nothing any of you can do there, and yet you let Jenni be there??? Granted, Jenni doesn't have anything else to do but come on, come up with a better excuse, you are in your 50s you can do better.

"When you kids need me, I'll always be there." No you won't, you purposefully LEFT because of your 'future knowledge' and it's knowledge you know will hurt 'those kids' and even get them tormented and killed.

Also, if Iris has that future knowledge then wouldn't she know that Bart wouldn't have to get used to being normal anyway because she CLEARLY knows he will get his powers back?!?!?!?!?! So he could BE THERE and get some emotional support.

I hate this plot point so much, I hate it I hate it I hate it. If you are going to make this a plot point, then at least execute it properly.

Finally, if Iris learned all her future knowledge simply by living in the future - then Jenni would know everything too and hooty hoo guess what, she doesn't because it's not reliable. FUCK.
