Looking Back At 2022
At the end of the year as we move into 2023, I just wanted to reflect a bit on the past 12 months in my life, where I've been and where I'd like to go.
So, what did I do this year? What did I do this year? A lot of nothing, it feels like.
That's not true, haha, I did quite a bit, but I had a couple pretty big setbacks that really threw me off. I'd wanted to do a month by month retrospective, but frankly a lot of things were a blur, so I'll just mention the big ones.
Winter to Mid-Spring
I worked mostly! I don't know what on. It all kind of runs together after a bit. There were some light novels and some manga, more light novels. Same old, same old.
Late Spring
Oohhhh, this was a bad one. I suffered some pretty severe anxiety for a number of reasons, a handful of mild panic attacks and a lot of lost sleep. I didn't work much. Not the best of times :(
Summer
Finally things started looking up again! I had made plans to attend Anime Expo for the first time. I never had much interest in going, since we have a lot of other cons here in the DC area and LA is pretty far, but I was excited to attend for once because I was able to snag an industry badge! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to secure lodging because my plans were a bit last minute, so I ended up dropping that.
Looking at how AX ended up though... kind of glad I did not go xD
It was okay though! I still went to LA, but to visit with good friends instead. I enjoyed July 4 on the beach and got to meet some other cool folks. After that, I went to Vegas for the first time to visit with another good pal. Had some good food, slept on a very comfy couch, and got to visit Omegamart! A very solid vacation.
...Mostly.
Summer to Fall
Oh boy. Oh boy. So, when I was in NV, I started getting some strange tooth pain one morning. I figured ok, I haven't been to the dentist in 5 years, this is probably a cavity or something.
It got worse. It got way worse. Even with two root canals it kept getting worse.
I'm going to go into it later because frankly I would like to make a proper post about it, but tl;dr it turns out I have a rare nerve disorder! One which I'm currently medicated for 3x daily. It took me a long, long while to claw my way out of that hole, but at least it's a climb I've been able to make.
Late Fall to Winter
And that brings us to now! As of this writing, I've been fully pain-free for almost 2 months. I don't know that it'll stay that way forever, but I'm enjoying my time while I can. I'm back to working normally and living as best I can, and I can only hope things keep getting better.
Through the Year
I've played lots of D&D this year! 3-4 diff campaigns, I can't get enough of it. I'll have to introduce everyone to my PCs later. I've picked up a new work project with some folks I've always wanted to work with, on a pretty fun series. There's been changes in the household, and wonderful news in the family. All I can say is that I'm grateful for what I have right now.
Year to Come
Obviously, I don't know what the future holds, but I can't wait to see. I plan to keep up more of the same, and work on improving my art and other crafts. And of course I'd like to keep posting here more! Gotta have some place that isn't birdsite, right? xD
Anyway, just having a ramble here while I'm waiting for dinner. Hope all of you have a wonderful new year <3

When I looked into his eyes I could swear they were a pair of encapsulated solar lights. His skin was soft and white as cotton, and her blond strands looked like threads of gold.
When I met him, he was the most unbearable guy in the world. He had questions piled up on the tip of his tongue and accurate comments for every word that came out of my mouth.
Even a damn meh… it could be answered with dumb, searched gossip.
Michael, that was his middle name, a young man from a noble family, as far as you could see. A London fool who fell in love with a country because of his nana's fancy words.
The damn first world, who spoke perfectly aymara and quechua. Salteña lover, defender and preserver of alpacas, and an idiot in love with cinnamon popsicles.
He was a handsome dude out of a teenage Disney magazine or movie. The boy with the perfect smile, who for eating flat plate, ended up in his dentist's waiting room to sort out the fact that he ruined his orthodontic equipment for the third time that month.
The kind of guy you'd never expect to see again and think of you as a hot girl. We grew up together, had him by my side since I was nine, a clear aristocratic-looking kid who went to a public school because he needed some fun.
I remember how amazed and fascinated he was with me when he discovered I knew perfectly how to write his name. A guy who spoke such complicated English that he could only accept everything he said and fake dementia in front of my obvious ignorance.
He was straightforward, always seeking the most sincere answer he could, surprising you with his unmatched flirt. The one who had to yell at me exasperated at twelve years old that he liked me and was going to go bald because of how distracted I was.
Soulmates are said to be connected in such a way that they are able to function in every possible way, whereas the love of your life, can only function as one love.
He always said we were soulmates and I was the love of his life, but in my not-so-humble opinion, it was one of the few times he was wrong. We were certainly the love of each other's lives, but her soulmate was Justin, his best friend.
Once, a shaman read him coke leaves, affirming that he was born with a star, who was destined for greatness, and that his ambitions would never know limits. A man who was born to be somebody and etch his name in the golden pages of history.
A born poet who was capable of falling in love with anyone, who played the saxophone, and who looked like an angel whenever a violin was in his hands. A man of the world, who didn't fit a glass third worldist like me.
Kyle, died on October 20, 2017, at 10:37 AM, in Argentinian lands. I always longed to see him again and respond to his silly and immature marriage proposal with a yes and no with a "give me a piece of land and we're in hand"
I couldn't properly mourn her, her soul mate broke into tiny pieces you could even feel those tiny parts cut your soul.
The last time I tried to commit Haram and go before Allah, He appeared before me. I could feel her fall present sleep hallucination or psychosis idk. I rather believe I saw it and the idiot admitted to counting the days since we last saw each other. He said they were seven years, eight months, and twenty-three days.
Now, October 20th, marks exactly seven years since his death and I still feel my heart beating strongly, I still have my fingers shaking and my eyes burning in pain, because since that day it has been impossible for me to cry for more than a few seconds.
I started writing after I lost it after I read an unfinished story of a love so sweet and fluffy on a platform that started with a W, a story told from the loving eyes of a stupidly in-love protagonist. A story that started with a dedication.
"To my future wife and mother of my children. Get ready, because when this story ends, I'll hold your hand. We're going to Las Vegas and getting married before we explore the world you've been longing to see. You may not be my soulmate in this life, but who says we can't be in another? "
Seven long years, where I spread sweet and perfect stories, because inside this tragic life I have, I can say that I only knew what pious, lovely, perfect, and cliché love is.
I can say it took a person from the other side of the world to treasure me and love me by both, to teach me that I can love myself.
Thank you Michael. You were the best person I could ever fall for, even though he will deny it out loud.
I just wanted to write to you, I just wanted to feel your name, rub my lips one more time, I just want to hear from you one last time…
And if anything happens, I'll end up as the last chapter of my favorite book… from an unfinished book forgotten by time… the one you wrote.
"What if we never see each other again?"
"There will always be a place for us in the universe. We can always find each other again… "
"But… "
"If it ain't on this one… "We'll see each other in another life when we're cats."

Super angry today eventhough these are cute pictures of me. Cute pictures make me happy so it distracts me from everything. Anyways, a garbage truck saw I was coming & I saw them see me and they purposefully reversed their garbage truck super quick to try to make it seem like I hit their truck. He kept reversing his garbage truck purposefully trying to hit me.
Then I went home & the garbage truck stayed in front of my house for like 10 minutes. Arrest the people in the garbage truck for attempted vehicular assault and stalking. I want those idiots in that garbage truck arrested think they're an old neighbor who got kicked out a few years ago on 2235 back in 2017 on my street who worked in Waste Management. License plate number Nevada 107923P.
Then on my way to Smith's while I was walking towards the store a red truck with Las Vegas Raiders License plate didn't stop for me at a stop sign and I was a pedestrian & almost ran me over. I yelled at them & told them how stupid they are.
I rushed to the Smith's Pharmacy Baring BLVD because this is the 3rd time my dad tried picking up his eye medication for inflammation & they said it was ready 3 days ago. This is the 3rd time we went to try to pick up his medication & they & before in the past kept discriminating my dad and that made me extra angry 🔥& I yelled at them saying my dad has lived in nevada for 45 (forty-five) years & I'm not stupid that I know you're discriminating him because english is not his 1st language.
I asked for the manager & that idiot was the manager & had the guts to say "we did try helping him" -no they did not! Grrr! I know the prescription is ready & Angel the supposed manager said it wasn't ready even though I called earlier & they said it was ready. Angel is so fake! Arrest Smith's Pharmacy for discrimination & not giving my dad his medication in time! Grrr! Mess with my family, you mess with me first! What a joke Smith's Pharmacy & Smith's on Baring Blvd is. That's why I haven't shopped there in years because they're filled with unprofessional people. Not even any apologies to us. They are such unprofessional low lives. I'm glad I didn't grow up to be a low life like Smith's Pharmacy & Smith's.
Hope you all have a better day than me.

Heat. When will it let up?
Go to the eye doctor. This goes pretty well but my left eye is just not keeping up. Dammit. Then, a layover... before walking up uptown to the dentist. I am not doing well in this heat.
I am early for the dentist appointment but he takes me after a brief sit. Some truly dreadful music is being played in the background.
The needles come out and I am given a painkiller. More work is done. The dentist and talk politics. He says a third party candidate would be a good idea. (Yes, but not R F K Jr.) There is much sadness (except for some irate Trumpers) re the next election. What a mess.
Home. Truly exhausted from my medical visits. Sit in the front of the fan.
Note: I have goofed in a big way. I learn that it was encumbent on me to see that Atsuko and the kids were going to be around when he go to Las Vegas. How could I do that? They are leaving and I just found out. Kenichi is furious. He says the trip (which he somehow scheduled) is terribly expensive. I am going to wait until his ire subsides and make a peace offering. I'm going to ask if I can split the expense. This will, of course, be my last family trip. I am getting too old. When we didn't talk about the trip for a while I had in my mind I'd been excluded. I have learned the gentle art of staying put.

How to Prevent Baby Bottle Tooth Decay: A Kid-Friendly Dentist Las Vegas Guide
Baby bottle tooth decay is a common problem that affects many young children. It occurs when a baby's teeth are frequently exposed to sugary liquids like milk, formula, juice, or sweetened water for long periods, often from a bottle or sippy cup.
This can lead to rapid tooth decay and even the loss of baby teeth.
As a parent, it's important to take steps to prevent baby bottle tooth decay and protect your child's oral health. At Adventure Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, our kid-friendly dentist Las Vegas team is dedicated to helping families maintain healthy smiles.
Here are some key statistics about baby bottle tooth decay:
Prevalence: Baby bottle tooth decay affects approximately 28% of children aged 2-5 years old in the United States.
Severity: The condition can range from mild to severe, with some children requiring dental procedures or even surgery to address advanced cases.
Ethnicity and Location: Native American children have a significantly higher prevalence of baby bottle tooth decay compared to other ethnic groups. Rural children also have a higher prevalence compared to non-rural children.
Age: The condition is most common in children between 6 months old and 6 years old.
Risk Factors: Children who do not receive regular dental checkups are more likely to develop baby bottle tooth decay
7 Tips to Prevent Baby Bottle Tooth Decay
Do not let your baby fall asleep with a bottle in bed. The sugary liquids can pool around the teeth and cause decay. If your child requires a bottle to help them fall asleep, consider using water in the bottle instead of milk or juice.
Limit the time your baby uses a bottle. Offer a sippy cup with water as your child gets older. Avoid letting your child walk around with a bottle or use it for long periods.
Clean your baby's teeth regularly. Use a soft, clean cloth or infant toothbrush to gently wipe the teeth after feedings and before bedtime. Once your child's first tooth erupts, brush twice daily with a smear of fluoride toothpaste.
Do not put pacifiers in sugary substances such as honey or sugar. This can expose your child's teeth to sugary substances that promote tooth decay.
Arrange for your child to have their initial dental check-up before they turn one year old. Avoid letting your child use a sippy cup for long periods, especially with sugary liquids.
Schedule your child's initial dental appointment before their first birthday. A kid-friendly dentist in Las Vegas like Adventure Smiles Pediatric Dentistry can guide on preventing baby bottle tooth decay and ensure your child's teeth are developing properly.
Avoid sharing utensils with your baby. Bacteria that cause tooth decay can be passed from your mouth to your child's. Use clean spoons, forks, and cups for your baby.

Expert quotes on preventing baby bottle tooth decay:
"The key to preventing baby bottle tooth decay is to limit the time your child spends with a bottle, especially at bedtime. Prolonged exposure to sugary liquids can lead to rapid tooth decay, even in infants." - Dr. Noura.
"Parents should begin brushing their baby’s teeth as soon as the first tooth appears, typically around 6 months of age. Use a soft, clean cloth or infant toothbrush and just a smear of fluoride toothpaste to gently wipe the teeth after feedings and before bedtime." - Dr. Sarah Johnson, Pediatric Dentist
Here are two real-life examples of baby bottle tooth decay:
Lily, a 2-year-old girl, was brought to the dentist by her parents because they noticed brown spots on her upper front teeth. Upon examination, the dentist diagnosed her with baby bottle tooth decay. Lily's parents admitted to letting her fall asleep with a bottle filled with milk every night since she was 6 months old. The dentist recommended that they stop this practice immediately and start brushing Lily's teeth twice a day with a smear of fluoride toothpaste. They were also advised to schedule regular dental check-ups to monitor the progression of the decay and prevent further damage to her teeth.
Ethan, a 3-year-old boy, was brought to the dentist by his grandmother because he was complaining of pain in his mouth. The dentist discovered that Ethan had severe baby bottle tooth decay, with several of his teeth severely decayed and infected. His grandmother explained that Ethan's mother had passed away shortly after his birth, and she had been caring for him since then. She admitted that she often gave Ethan a bottle filled with sweetened fruit juice to help him sleep through the night. The dentist recommended that Ethan undergo a procedure to remove the severely decayed teeth and treat the infection. They also guided proper oral hygiene and the importance of limiting sugary drinks to prevent future occurrences of baby bottle tooth decay.
These examples highlight the importance of early intervention and prevention when it comes to baby bottle tooth decay. By limiting sugary drinks, practicing good oral hygiene, and scheduling regular dental check-ups, parents and caregivers can help protect their children's teeth and prevent the pain and discomfort associated with this condition.

When a missing tooth isn't replaced with a dental implant, it can lead to several oral health issues. Over time, surrounding teeth may shift, causing bite misalignment and further tooth loss. Bone loss in the jaw can also occur, affecting facial structure and appearance. Additionally, chewing difficulties and speech issues may arise, impacting your overall quality of life. For those in Las Vegas, visiting a cosmetic dentist for dental implants can restore your smile and prevent these complications. If you're looking for expert care, consider consulting a trusted dental clinic in Las Vegas for personalized advice.

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam — January 2024. Woke to vibrant street sounds. After our consultation at the dentist, where we met other foreigners taking care of some dental work, we had a care plan in hand for the week. Time to explore, we strolled through Tao Dan Park and had a great lunch based on a local recommendation. I’m in love with fresh mangosteen smoothies. Jet lag settling in, it was back to the hotel for a snooze. This town really cools and comes alive at night with everyone filling the street cafes. Found Linhs, an old French colonial building, that sits on an active corner giving us a Birds Eye view from the upper balcony. We had a bet on who could spot a family of five on a motorbike first. Practicing our street crossing skills we wandered into the backpacking area that is now lit like Las Vegas. With music pounding and girls dancing on table tops it sadly reminded us of Pad Pong road in Thailand. I’m pretty sure we found the aging old remnant Elizabeth and I stayed in 30 years ago. It’s been left to ruin. Finished off the night watching impressive shuttle cock play in the park.

Choosing the Right Pediatric Dentist: Essential Factors to Consider
When it comes to their oral health, finding a qualified and caring professional is essential. After all, a positive dental experience in childhood can set the stage for a lifetime of good oral hygiene habits. So, if you're on the hunt for a pediatric dentist in Las Vegas who will make your child smile from ear to ear (literally!), you've come to the right place. In this article, we'll discuss the factors you should consider when making this important decision and provide some tips on how to find the perfect fit for your family. Let's dive in!
The Importance of Choosing the Right Pediatric Dentist
When it comes to our children's dental health, choosing the right pediatric dentist is of utmost importance. Why? Well, first and foremost, pediatric dentists have specialized knowledge and training in dealing with the unique needs of children. From their baby teeth to their adolescent years, these professionals understand how to provide age-appropriate care and make each visit a positive experience. A good pediatric dentist also knows how to create a welcoming environment that helps alleviate any fears or anxieties your child may have about going to the dentist. They are skilled at communicating with kids in a way that makes them feel comfortable and safe throughout their appointment. Moreover, regular visits to a pediatric dentist in Las Vegas can help detect potential oral health issues early on. By catching problems like tooth decay or misalignment at an early stage, treatment becomes easier and less invasive. This proactive approach not only saves time but also prevents more extensive dental work down the road.
In addition to providing quality care for your child's teeth and gums, choosing the right pediatric dentist sets an excellent example for your little ones regarding the importance of oral hygiene. When they see you prioritizing their dental health by selecting a reputable professional who genuinely cares about them, it reinforces positive habits that will benefit them for life. The bottom line is this: finding the right pediatric dentist can make all the difference when it comes to your child's oral health journey. It ensures they receive top-notch care from someone who understands their unique needs as well as fosters a positive attitude towards dentistry from an early age – setting them up for a lifetime of healthy smiles!
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Pediatric Dentist
Choosing the right pediatric dentist for your child is crucial in ensuring their oral health and overall well-being. But with so many options out there, how do you know which one is the best fit? Here are some important factors to consider when making this important decision. Qualifications and experience should be at the top of your list. Look for a pediatric dentist who has specialized training in treating children's dental needs. They should have a valid license and certifications that demonstrate their expertise in this field. Another factor to consider is the atmosphere of the dental office itself. A welcoming and child-friendly environment can make all the difference in helping your child feel comfortable during their visit. Check if they offer amenities such as toys or video games in the waiting area, as these can help distract and entertain young patients. The location and accessibility of the dental office are also important considerations. Choose a pediatric dentist who is conveniently located near your home or your child's school, making it easier to schedule appointments without disrupting daily routines. Additionally, take into account what other parents have to say about their experiences with different pediatric dentists. Online reviews and recommendations from friends or family members can provide valuable insights into the quality of care provided by various practitioners. Don't forget to inquire about payment options and insurance coverage before making a final decision. It's essential to find a pediatric dentist whose services align with your budget while still providing excellent care for your child. By considering these factors carefully, you'll be able to choose a qualified pediatric dentist who can meet both you and your child's specific needs effectively
How to Find the Right Pediatric Dentist
Finding the right pediatric dentist for your child is crucial in ensuring their oral health and overall well-being. So, how can you go about finding the perfect fit? Here are some essential tips to guide you: 1. Ask for recommendations: Start by reaching out to friends, family members, or even your child's pediatrician for referrals. Personal recommendations can provide valuable insights into dentists who have a good reputation. 2. Research online: In this digital age, conducting an online search is inevitable. Look for pediatric dentists near you and read reviews from other parents. Pay attention to factors like experience, qualifications, and patient feedback. 3. Consider their expertise: Pediatric dentistry requires specialized knowledge and skills to work with children effectively. Ensure that the dentist has the necessary training and experience in treating kids of different ages. 4. Visit their office: Schedule a consultation or visit potential dental offices in Las Vegas before making a decision. Observe if it is child-friendly with a welcoming atmosphere that will help put your child at ease during visits. 5. Evaluate communication style: A good pediatric dentist should be able to communicate effectively with both children and parents alike. They should explain procedures clearly and address any concerns patiently. Remember that finding the right pediatric dentist may take time but investing effort into this process now will benefit your child's oral health in the long run.
The Benefits of Choosing the Right Pediatric Dentist
Choosing the right pediatric dentist for your child is not just about oral health; it also has numerous benefits that can positively impact your child's overall well-being. First and foremost, a qualified pediatric dentist has specialized training in dealing with children. They understand their unique dental needs, fears, and anxieties. This expertise allows them to create a comfortable and safe environment for your child during dental visits. Another benefit of choosing the right pediatric dentist is their ability to establish positive dental habits early on. By educating both you and your child about proper oral hygiene practices, they can help prevent future dental issues such as cavities or gum disease. Additionally, a good pediatric dentist knows how to communicate effectively with children. They use age-appropriate language and techniques to explain procedures in a way that children can understand, thus reducing fear and anxiety associated with dental visits. Moreover, by building a strong rapport with your child over time, the right pediatric dentist can instill trust and confidence in them when it comes to oral health care. This relationship ensures that your child feels comfortable discussing any concerns or problems they may have regarding their teeth or gums. Choosing the right pediatric dentist means having access to comprehensive services specifically tailored for children. From routine cleanings and exams to orthodontic evaluations or sedation dentistry if needed – all these services are provided under one roof by professionals who specialize in treating young patients. Selecting the right Kid's Friendly dentist offers numerous benefits for both you as a parent and most importantly – for your child's long-term oral health journey. So take the time to research and find a reputable pediatric dentist who will provide top-notch care while creating positive experiences that will last a lifetime!
Conclusion
Choosing the right pediatric dentist for your child is a crucial decision that can impact their oral health and overall well-being. By considering essential factors such as experience, qualifications, and rapport with children, you can ensure that your little one receives the best dental care possible. It's also important to visit potential pediatric dentists before making a final decision. Take note of the cleanliness of their office, friendliness of staff members, and how they interact with children. A welcoming environment can help alleviate any fear or anxiety that your child might have about visiting the dentist.

How to Teach Your Child Good Oral Hygiene Habits: A Guide for Parents from a Pediatric Dentist in Las Vegas
As a parent, you want the best for your child's health, including their dental well-being. Teaching good oral hygiene habits from an early age is crucial for maintaining strong, healthy teeth and gums. It's a journey that requires patience, consistency, and a little creativity. In this article, we'll explore effective strategies to help your child develop lifelong healthy habits, with a special focus on the role of a pediatric dentist in Las Vegas.
Here are the key statistics and facts about children's dental care in Las Vegas and Nevada:
Nationwide, 50% of children aged 6-8 experience dental caries (tooth decay), compared to 65% of Nevada third graders.
Nevada children have a higher incidence of dental caries than the national average.
Tooth decay is significantly more common among children than other childhood ailments like asthma and hay fever.
Regular dental visits and proper oral hygiene habits are crucial to preventing childhood tooth decay. Dental procedures like fluoride varnish (33% reduction in decay) and dental sealants (81% reduction) can significantly improve children's dental health.
Pediatric dentists play a key role in providing professional cleanings, evaluating dental health, and educating children and parents on proper brushing, flossing, and dietary habits to prevent cavities.
For families without dental insurance, finding a pediatric dentist in Las Vegas who offers flexible payment options can help ensure children receive the necessary dental care.
The statistics highlight the importance of early and regular dental visits, as well as the need for improved oral hygiene habits and access to pediatric dental care in the Las Vegas and Nevada region. Addressing these gaps can help reverse the higher rates of childhood tooth decay compared to the national average
The Importance of Early Dental Care
Regular dental visits and proper oral hygiene habits are essential for children's overall health and well-being. According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, children should have their first dental visit by their first birthday. This early visit allows pediatric dentists to monitor tooth development, detect potential issues, and educate parents on proper care techniques.

Strategies for Teaching Good Oral Hygiene Habits
Start brushing baby teeth early: As soon as your child's first tooth erupts, begin brushing with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a smear of fluoride toothpaste.
Make it fun: Choose a toothbrush with your child's favorite character and play their preferred music during brushing time to make it an enjoyable experience.
Teach proper brushing technique: Guide your child's hand and demonstrate how to brush all surfaces of their teeth for two minutes, twice a day.
Floss together: Begin flossing as soon as your child has two teeth that touch each other. Make it a bonding experience by flossing your own teeth together.
Limit sugary snacks and drinks: Sugary foods and beverages can lead to tooth decay. Encourage healthy alternatives like fruits, vegetables, and water.
Set a good example: Children learn by observing their parents. Demonstrate good oral hygiene habits by brushing and flossing regularly yourself.
