IL DILUVIO UNIVERSALE Michel Angelo Falvetti 

 A life-saving flood for Messina... Here is one of the rare baroque musical accounts of this Sicilian town, which has known many earthquakes and tidal waves. The subject is furthermore symbolic; the four elements plead to God for man's destruction, death intervenes in his favour, man will know 'only' the flood and will finally be saved from the waters. In the tradition of Carissimi and Handel, the highly original music reflects Sicily, a hybrid land known for having combined the songs of East and West. 

One can think of no better interpreter than Leonardo García Alarcón to translate here its intensity and emotion. 44:when was the last time you remember feeling completely serene and at peace with everything? Ha, this was approximately three weeks ago, just before the stress flood came. I went to the landscape park with the cows and feeding the brown cow was such a nice thing.

Palermo, “Il diluvio universale” in scena al teatro Massimo Lunedì 14 maggio alle ore 20.30 nella Sala Grande del Teatro Massimo di Palermo la stagione concertistica 2018 prosegue con Il diluvio universale oratorio del 1682 di Michelangelo Falvetti, maestro di cappella prima a Palermo e poi Messina, dove appunto è conservato il manoscritto del dialogo Il diluvio universale, uno dei pochissimi conservati in Sicilia, che sarà eseguito nell'edizione curata da Nicolò Maccavino.
