out of all the ghouls
which ones do you think are absolutley PACKING?
A question I put way too much thought into, frankly. No complaints; I live for the chance to overthink exactly this kind of thing, which is why I keep the ask box open. Since there's only a few I think are packing packing, here's a quick and dirty ranking of all the penis-having ghouls I can think of from 3/New Vegas/4, plus Cooper, obviously. If I missed anyone, I'll be happy to add them.
Ranking Penis Size (Fallout 3/Fallout: New Vegas/Fallout 4)
Literally so big you might not even want it, possibly disqualifying: Edward Deegan
Seriously packing, but manageable: Charon, Harland, Kent Connolly (a true dark horse)
Above average: Desmond Lockheart, Roy Philips, Grecks, Dean Domino, Rotface, John Hancock, Eddie Winter, Wiseman, Cooper Howard
Middle-of-the-road average: Dr. Barrows, Quinn, Gob, Barrett, Andy Scabb, Raul Tejada, Hadrian, Arlen Glass, the Vault-Tec Rep, Ham
Below average: Murphy, Winthrop, Ahzrukhal, Jason Bright
#I <3 unhinged questions#my edward deegan favoritism has nothing to do with this opinion I SWEAR#cooper howard#the ghoul#edward deegan#charon fo3#harland fnv#kent connolly#roy phillips#grecks fnv#dean domino#rotface fnv#john hancock fo4#eddie winter#wiseman fo4#dr. barrows fo3#quinn fo3#barrett fo3#andy scabb#raul tejada#hadrian fnv#arlen glass#vault-tec rep#ham fo4#murphy fo3#winthrop fo3#ahzrukhal fo3#jason bright#fallout 3#fallout new vegas

Day 3: Tenpenny Towers ↠ Roy Phillips
➼ Word Count » 1.5k ➼ Warnings » Descriptions of violence ➼ Genre » Romantic ➼ A/N » I honestly forgot how this quest went, but I feel like I got the gist of it down. Also ignore how mega rushed this reads as 😭
"You sure you wanna do this, smoothskin? It might not exactly give you the reputation you're looking for."
"I'm sure." You said, holstering your pistol in the slot on your waist.
You might not have been a ghoul, but Tenpenny ticked you off more than you could ever describe. You'd been itching to aim your barrel straight at his head for a while now. Just watching him plead for his life before you took that final shot filled you with adrenaline. You knew it'd feel good watching him drop, and the ghouls you were infiltrating his tower with felt the same.
"Well then, you know what the plan is."
You nodded. Briefly searching his eyes for anything else he might've wanted to say before leaving the metro area and marching toward the tower.
"Come on! You recognize me! Let me in!" You called out to the security guard as you rang the buzzer.
"Alright! Alright! Give me a second.."
It didn't take long before the rusty gates squeaked open, and you were allowed inside the expensive sanctuary.
The plan was for you to go straight to the back of the building to unlock the heavy metal doors keeping them and the ferals separated from the rest. But with all the guards and residents around, you knew it'd look suspicious. So you, instead, opted to make an appearance inside to try and alleviate any wandering eyes that might catch on to what you were planning.
It was as polished as you remembered. The golden glow of the chandelier illuminated everything in the lobby as you wandered straight into it. Well, tried to, at least.
"Thought you said you weren't coming back." Gustavo's voice echoed over the light chatter that filled the room. "What changed?"
"It's hard to return back to the waste after witnessing a place so clean." You smiled sweetly - or as sweetly as you could manage.
Gustavo had been on to you the second you entered the grand tower, and rightfully so. His suspicions about you plotting with the "dirty folk" were correct. He just couldn't ever find enough proof to get you kicked.
He hummed doubtfully, not buying anything you told him, "Don't let me keep you, then."
You watched the guard out of the corner of your eye, awaiting the moment he finally got you out of his line of sight, but he never did. Instead, he seemed to be making sure you were where he could spot you, not trusting the quickness of your return.
You walked up the stairs quickly, praying you'd lose him soon so that you could let the others into the building and get on with the plan. You didn't want them to think you flaked on them last minute, and you weren't sure how long it'd been since you left.
"Oh, dear. They let you back in, did they?" You turned to see Lydia fanning herself on the side couches of the upstairs lobby. "Did you're friends finally turn feral?"
"Something like that." You clenched your teeth, wanting to end the conversation as fast as possible so you could get back on track.
"Hmm, poor you. I'd hate to remind you, but we did tell you so."
She might've had something more to say, but you didn't let her finish as you continued walking down one corridor after the other, biding your time for that perfect escape. Then you'd unlock the sewer doors for the mob of ferals the others hoarded up.
After a moment of trekking aimlessly, you made your way back down the glossy stairs in the most inconspicuous manner you could manage. Gliding swiftly toward the back, bobby pins in hand for the stunt you planned on pulling.
You left the building and made a beeline for the back sewer doors. It took you a minute of jimmying the copper around before the doors flung open and the ferals pooled out from the formerly restricted doors.
Roy was one of the first, moving to shield you with his body as the mindless fiends began sprinting toward the bright lights flooding out from the tower windows.
His body blocked you from their view, his toned and scarred arms trapping you against the concrete wall that surrounded the settlement. You'd almost consider it to be romantic if it weren't for the circumstances.
He only let up once they had all run inside, showing a bit of hesitance to leave the close proximity between the two of you.
"You should wait here until the place is cleared. I'd hate to have one of the ferals grab you." He said, his flesh-ridden arms falling toward his gun as he continued to stare down at you, your back still firmly planted on the wall.
"We won't have to worry about that," You began, rummaging through your bag before bringing out your ghoul mask, "I brought this."
Roy only huffed, half amused half exasperated. He gestured for you to follow and you quickly threw the ugly face on top of your own, before trugging excitedly behind him.
Walking past the front doors and into the same lobby you had previously entered a few moments ago was a shock, to say the least. The once clean floors were stained red with blood, and the bright, bougie atmosphere was reduced to nothing but a warzone.
Bullets and limbs flew in every direction as the residents shot, and the ghouls tore them apart. They weren't any match with how little armor they carried on them, and the battle was very quickly won.
The once spotless ballroom was diminished down to piles of corpses and blood-stained floors.
You almost felt bad, especially, for the ones who hadn't been rude to you at all. But your thoughts quickly dissipated when you remembered that the job wasn't yet done.
"Only one man left." Micheal rasped, gesturing toward the elevator leading straight to Tennypenny's suite. You doubted he heard the violence being committed in the lower levels, too enamored in his own pride to care much for the community. That and the fact that he was so much higher up than the ground floors.
"Shouldn't take too many of us to finish him. C'mon, kid, you can come handle him with me." Roy ordered, already starting for the gleaming platform.
You rushed after him, taking off your mask and pulling out your gun in anticipation of the guards that would be awaiting you at the top.
The ride up felt longer than it should've been. The slowness killed you, and the faint music that played within the metal box made you feel all the more anxious to pull the trigger of your gun.
You've only been up here once, and even then, you didn't have enough time to get a good look at how many guards there were or what to expect. It might've been a mistake to only bring the two of you up to the top of the suite, but you feared it was far too late to regret your decisions now.
The reverberating 'ding' of the elevator woke you from your thoughts as you followed the ghoul off. You were careful to be quiet as two of Allister's guards came into view.
Roy was quick to attack, shooting them both with clean precision before standing straight up.
"Well, this is it." He spoke, "How're you feeling?"
"Fine, I guess." You responded, "It's hard to believe that this place was so easy to infiltrate."
He let out an amused huff, bringing his arm around to pat you on the back in a friendly manner, before holding the door to Tenpenny's garden open for you.
It almost felt ironic that something that required so much attention and work was kept by Tenpenny.
It didn't take long for Roy to push the final door open with a creak, allowing you to step out first onto the balcony.
"Hello, Mr. Tenpenny." You greeted, pulling your gun out of your holster as you neared where he sat, watching the landscape play out below him.
"Hmm, so you're back." He spoke, not bothering to turn back and look at you. "I knew you'd come to your senses eventually, my dear. This place is hard to resist, I'm sure."
"It really is." You didn't waste any time and shot one clean bullet straight through Allister's skull.
Roy's hand came up heavily atop your shoulder, catching your attention as you spun to face him.
His faded blue eyes gazed into your own, just staring for a moment before he leaned down and slowly pulled you in closer, roughly kissing you as his blood-covered hands smeared the side of your cheek in the sticky liquid.
"C'mon, kid, stay here with the rest of us ghouls." He muttered, his hand forcing your face up to look at him, "We could clear out the corpses and fix it up however you like. What do ya say?”
"Ok..." You spoke breathlessly, gripping his arms as you did, "I'll... stay."
A small smile ghosted his torn lips as the two of you made your way back toward the elevator. Where you'd go back downstairs to the lobby to finish clearing out the bodies of the original residents. Then the four of you could finally figure out what you wanted to do to the place, and how you wanted to advertise it.

me, a firm 2: *literally in tears because I couldn't get Fallout 3 to launch and therefore wouldn't be able to describe in perfect detail the location in Warrington Station where Roy Phillips bends this female Vault dweller over a table, rendering the whole piece deeply and unforgivably flawed*
There are two types of writers:
1. 'It's fiction, it doesn't need to make sense!'
2. 'I didn't account for the rotation of the planet and how that affects the constalations while my characters stargazed at different times of year, I have failed as a writer, and this entire thing is trash'

HAROLD ISNT EVEN A GHOUL! He is a numen at best and a super mutant (FEV mutant) at worst and honestly I don't think he should be allowed to be brought up as a gotcha to us ghoulfuckers! Bring up Jason Bright, Roy Phillips, Set, Garret, Festus, Percy, Skeeter or hell even the Marked Men from Lonesome Road! But FEV doesn't necessarily make a ghoul!
Of the original creators of the Fallout IP only Chris Taylor believes that ghoulification is cause by FEV and Radiation while Tim Cain and Chris Avallone have both said it's radiation only
"I'm a Ghoul fucker, I'd fuck Cooper Howard" of course you would. besides his nose he's weirdly normal looking. The real question is would you fuck Gob?

It's definitely been one of those subjects that's been skirted around. There is a consensus that feral...ness is a given, however the timeline is what's always been argued; how long does it take for a ghoul to go feral? Why do some go feral almost immediately, while others (like Daisy, Kent, Jason, Carol and Desmond) are pre-war?
That means, in game, there are ghouls that are 200ish years old...and no one outright explains how they haven't gone feral when others do.
Even the Fallout Wiki doesn't know why:
"The degeneration into a feral state (referred to as ferocious post-necrotic dystrophy) is not fully understood. It is known that it is a result of a degeneration of the brain (which is not affected by the regenerative mutation of the spinal cord) and emerges following the atrophy of higher brain functions, accompanied by an increased level of aggression and appetite. When the loss of capacity for thought is complete, a ghoul is considered feral. The factors that may cause a ghoul to enter this state are unclear, but anti-social or isolated ghouls are more susceptible to it. Exposure to intense radiation may also be a factor – feral ghouls have no body heat and emit lethal levels of radiation, indicating that feral ghouls are for all intents and purposes dead, their functions sustained only by their high irradiation. This allows them to survive for centuries, relying only on the energy provided by radiation – at the expense of a horrifying, emaciated appearance. Understandably, the process is irreversible"
Which, granted, gives a theory; that those who were anti-social/isolated were more susceptible to becoming feral. This has been accepted with scrutiny and certain ghouls, like Eddie Winter or Billy, the young ghoul boy trapped in a fridge for 210 years, are thrown at this theory as direct evidence to contradict such an idea.
Others have believed it to be resilience and mental acceptance of being a ghoul. Roy Phillips's violent tendencies have been explained by this theory just as much as his trauma. However self-hatred doesn't seem like a valid idea either, as ghouls like David the Vault-Tec Rep hate himself and has still managed to live for 210 years.
The other theory was simply overexposure to radiation, which, yeah, makes sense — until you recall ghouls are immune, and even healed, by radiation. I took to believing your first exposure to radiation is what determined it (blast radius and dosing), but even then, Rachel and the ghouls of Nuka-World prove this wrong.
Overall, there's been a pile of bandaid fixes to a large piece of lore that's never been relevant till this one moment. And you're definitely right; it's been implied that the only good thing to kill a ghoul is a bullet. The fact that the show has outright shown ghouls going feral, asking for this unnamed medicine, and Cooper confirming he becomes feral without it, is a huge milestone in lore. And it also leaves us with a question; since this show is canon...how do our favorite ghoul companions deal with this same issue?
I don't feel like enough people are talking about the fact that the show answered the question, "What makes a ghoul go feral?"
Like, can we talk about that? Ghoulification isn't a life hack to immortality, it's a terminal illness with a fate worse than passing away. It's something that evidently affects them both mentally and physically while they deteriorate, and the only temporary relief is that medicine (was that an inhaled version of Radaway? Imagine the implications of them being dependent on that, holy shit).
We now know that every ghoul is on a timeline to losing their self, eternally victims of a zombie bite they can't hide away from in a radiated world. Anyone can become a ghoul. Anyone can die a ghoul. Anyone can lose their control, their psyche, as a ghoul.
How do you deal with knowing there's a fate worse being raided or shot out there for you?
