my reaction to seeing fallout london

the fallout tv show fully depicting the brotherhood of steel as a crazy cult is really compelling and interesting to me in the same way fallout 4's iteration of the brotherhood was a fascinating evolution of the versions in the games before that.

however, i fully believe that the version of the brotherhood that carries the most weight in my mind is the one where they're the wasteland's version of guys that look at you and say, "well, clearly you don't own an air fryer."

So I’m at home sick with Covid and so I’ve used this as an excuse to play Fallout 4 all day long

I realized that I have a shit ton of frag grenades (like literally 300 of them), so I gave half of them to Hancock because why not? I’m not using them

Does he use them when we’re in the open? No. Does he use them when we’re fighting something intense like a deathclaw? No. But if we run into a radroach in a cramped hallway, ya boy is lobbing one, my limbs be damned

such is the peril of the hardboiled protagonist! i like that for him, i like that while his personal quest resolves in a neat way, the rest of his story just can't. i think that makes him more compelling!

I was thinking about height and names in the wasteland.

Height: I think humanity would slowly evolve to become shorter just like how through the centuries we evolved to become taller.

In the Wasteland, I think, being shorter can help with survival. Or not. But to think about it we started to become taller because our lifestyle became much better than it was before and it, for some reason, led us to become taller means, to me at least, in the Wasteland while struggling with survival the reverse would happen.

Might really do something with survival, like better hiding or something with muscles, someone might know better than me anyway.

Names: Names are pretty important to us. We not only give names to humans, we name... well, just about everything. I think this might be different in the Wasteland. Names might lost their meaning. Some might not even have names. They might abandoned it or was never given any.

And so when you come across generic raider #5 then it might be his entire persona. He might think he is a raider, takes his entire identity as this, and that is all.

Or perhaps they just feel like they don't want to share their names while shooting at... well, anyone.

Also, as a bonus. Many people must have some mutations but not the super mutant kind of. Instead some little ones, what might not even be noticed. I heard somewhere the blue eye and when someone looks into the sun and sneezes is some kind of mutation, I was immediately thinking about it. Even if these 'facts' are not true, for idea they are cool.

Let's say we have Jimmy. Jimmy has, I don't know, thicc skull. The kind you can hit with a damn hammer and the hammer would break. He finds it completely normal because he was always like this, and he just jokes about it with others.

Not every mutation must be a bad kind of mutation because that just makes no sense. To me, at least.

The entire Earth was ravaged through nuclear fire, it becomes irradiated, many things, if not all, mutated. That amount of radiation caused that. Humans are not the same as they were before the war, they must have changed. In many ways. Those living the longest in the Wasteland, like being the descendants of others who also lived there, means they might have more than those who just recently moved out into the Wasteland.

what kind of food do you think Danse would like? like, if he wasn't in the wasteland and had access to real, genuinely good food? :]

I don't want to be generic but I honestly think this guy eats like a bear.

He likes proteins and things that sit heavy. This is not because they are generally more filling but most heavy meals are fatty and carb-filled foods that are his favorites. Very much a loaded potato, steak, entire rotisserie chicken sort of guy. The type to clearly be full but say "One more bite won't hurt" and then eat the rest. Not greedy but it's like a simple pleasure you can do a lot yourself and it's not like he wouldn't work it off.

I honestly don't see him as a sweets person. He won't go out of his way for most sweets but I think he'd fuck up a pound cake or like devil's food cake. The guy just seems like he likes rich, savory or heavy things. He'll eat whatever is given without a fuss but he's got the ability and repressed desires to clean out an Arby's.

If he was eating with plastic utensils and saw them after you'd be horrified.

unpopular opinion but 4k ultra realistic graphics are such a turn off for me. either leave your graphics in late 00s/very early 10s or stylize that shit.
