Chen- love me these well worn dog gnawed hands!! Also, my advent calendar has been inflicting green tea upon me. And my dog gives big wet baby eyes whenever I hold something so. Inflicting this trait upon Spoonóg. Referenced the hands from @limepigeon ‘s art because I am. A little tired, and they drew good hands.

Mortum- oh I had to roll a die about which Mortum to use (aka, which villian helmet to be holding), but coming out with Maneater and m!mortum (who she? Might? Be romancing?) delighted me. Kinda put less emphasis on the hands than I really wanted (esp once I chose to add colour…) but. Y’kno. Could be worse, I like the final effect. Kinda fun to draw the mask ‘deactivated’, with its tendrils more limp.

Ortega- I HAD to go for the chipped sidestep mug, you see. Scruffy scraggly ‘I cut my hair short with a knife last night ’ Julia moments.

As I’m like actively posting this I think I want to work on the ports/mods more but the best thing is!!! I can come back to this later.

Wei Chen: Stoic marshal steel vs dog dad wei that spoils his son (PJS AND RAINCOATS FOR SPOON). Wears tight + thin t-shirts off duty "enough [them] to feel silky to the touch." (ch23). this has to be on purpose. right? right?? Understated snarker. Banter is very hot. Always checking in and asking for consent <3. Thoughtfulness + discretion - the shelf in the fridge!!!! (+ not outing a high clue villain with the relevant tags).

Conflict between duty + personal: "This is private. Just for me." A breathed admission. "I feel so selfish right now."'' OK CHEN BASEBALL THOUGHTS.

im not sure how big of a fan he is but i like baseball so im deciding he likes it a good deal. we know he roots for the home team, the New York Mets, off of his baseball cap. he's not much of a tv guy to me so i think he grew up listening to games on the radio.

he had a little setup next to the window so he could do his homework and listen in. when they would say "pitch on the way" his pencil would pause for a second as he waited for the call. it was never too loud, as to not bother anyone else in the house, and i think the radio was the little portable kind with an earphone jack and a bunch of other random shit like a flashlight and a crack to power it (i had one of these, naturally)

these things probably came in handy when he was on the streets, a little comfort to hold onto.

back in the sidestep era ortega never SAID he was doing it, but his team debriefs did coincidentally end just before games were about to start and chen always appreciated it

even now in his new office, the commentators chatter quietly in the background and his typing still pause in that breath before strike or ball
