we as a society have spent too long bereft of epic action-adventure romantic comedies. years, decades even, without over-the-top pyrotechnics and absurdly timed makeout sessions, by-the-skin-of-their-teeth resolutions and good writing. at last the embargo has been lifted.

please see fall guy if you have not. ryan gosling and emily blunt are both phenomenal (as always). it has explosions and romance and a dog that understands french and the song all too well and it really feels like a love letter to the stunt community and best of all, it’s a movie about the making of a movie, which i will eat up every time.

Actress!Wanda x Stunt!Reader
Inspired by the film ‘The Fall Guy’
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The movie had wrapped. You and your superstar actress girlfriend Wanda Maximoff were stronger than ever. You were over the moon, knowing that you had her back in your life.
You and Wanda still lived in the same town and the two of you wanted to take things slow.
You helped Wanda pack up her trailer as the shoot was winding down.
“Still got the one bedroom on Lee Ave?” Wanda asks with a smile as she totes two boxes.
“Yeah. You still on Kirby Drive, superstar?”
Wanda offered you a little wink as answer. And then Tony, your friend and director, came by with the GMC truck in a trailer.
“So where do I send the truck?” He asks with a smirk.
“Tony, I thought that was a rental” you chuckle.
“Nope. It is a token of my appreciation for coming in to help out the film.” Tony balances playfully on his heels. “Why don’t you take Wanda out on a date in it? Maybe do some donuts?”
Wanda let out a slight gasp. The truth is that you and Wanda had done donuts a couple times up at her little ranch. She would never admit it but the thought of doing donuts again made her giddy. Doing donuts in the dirt areas of her ranch always raised her adrenaline levels, and with that came the need to burn thru that adrenaline. You gave her a wink, knowing exactly why she was gasping.
Well it took you and Wanda a couple days but you each got moved back into your houses. You weren’t ready to move in together yet. Your relationship had just got a fresh slate, you kinda wanted to take it slow.
But that didn’t stop you from driving Wanda up to her ranch and helping her unload her bags.
“I could’ve done it on my own” she gives you a kiss on the cheek as thanks.
“I know. But I wanted to see the old place again.” You admitted. Wanda’s ranch always felt like home.
You helped your superstar girlfriend finished putting her items away. Your eyes wandered to a nearby photo of you and her. She never took it down, you couldn’t help but smile.
Your eye wandered out the door to your truck and a nearby dirt area. Wanda came down the stairs.
“So I was thinking we could have…what are you thinking about?” Her tone gave an air of mischief in its own right.
“There’s that dirt field out front. Perfect for donuts” you gave her a wink.
Wanda bit her lip softly, a blush making its way across her face.
“That’s probably a bad idea” she giggled.
“Or a really good one” you held up the keys to your new GMC.
Stunt driving really comes in handy. You worked as a stunt driver for several productions before you met Wanda. The very first thing that impressed her was you doing donuts in a mustang.
Wanda, ever the superstar daredevil, followed you out the door of her ranch house and straight into your truck. You got buckled and so did she.
You could tell the anticipation was already getting to her. Her breathing was uneasy but in a way that gave the impression she was gonna enjoy this completely.
“Buckled in?” You asked with a knowing smirk.
She pats her belt. And with that you turn the key. The engine roars to life. Wanda was already on cloud nine as you hit the accelerator and speed into the dirt field.
“Ohmygosh! Oh my gosh!!!” She was euphorically screaming and giggling as you turned the wheel, causing the truck to turn in the dirt.
Debris was flying left and right as your GMC made its first complete turn. Wanda leaned her head against your shoulder. The two of you were lost in the moment.
The setting Sun was spinning around the two of you. And for one single moment, it felt like the world itself revolved around you and the love of your life.
A shout of joy and euphoria escapes her lips. Wanda would never say it aloud but she missed this. Going thru any sort of adventurous moment with you was one of her major turn-ons.
The sun was almost completely over the horizon as you pulled the truck to a stop right in front of her porch. Wanda’s chest was heaving from all the excitement.
“I missed this” you whispered to her. “Little moments like this.”
“Don’t worry” she smiled, “we’ll have many more.”
You tried to open your door. Wanda immediately hit the locks. Her eyes were a little dark, she bit her tongue seductively.
You silently pushed your seat back, allowing her just the space she needed. Wanda jumped from the passenger seat and right into your lap. She kissed you so fiercely, like you were her oxygen.
“Wanda” you chuckled.
“You know how doing donuts gets me,” she playfully growls in your ear.
The two of you spent a bit more time out there.
You and Wanda had a long road ahead of you and the two of you looked forward to going down it together. And hey if you can do some donuts on that road together…you’ll enjoy that together too.

And… Action?
Tumblr media
[Colt Seavers x Actress!Reader]
Synopsis: In which a minor… stunt caused the meeting of the stuntman himself who always seemed too busy, too focused, and too far away {GIF Creds: fleursial}
WC: 1121
Category: Mega Fluff, Suggestive Ending?
Why is there still so little of Colt?? I don’t understand it 😭
『••✎••』
It wasn’t unusual for you to find yourself staring at Colt Seavers from across the set. You liked him, liked the mysterious presence he displayed. Sure, half of it was because you never had the courage to approach him, despite how friendly he was with the rest of the cast and crew, but he always seemed so busy. Plus, your character never needed to interact with the stunt crew so you didn’t have a reason to walk across the lot. And even if you had, your scenes wouldn’t have lasted more than a few minutes anyway.
However, when the very last scene of the day was called, everything changed for the better. You were moments away from leaving the set, having already said goodbye to almost everyone else, with the feeling you weren't going to see Seaver ever again.
Until he bumped into you, quite literally.
You let out a surprised gasp, almost dropping your script as you stumbled backward, but a pair of strong hands were quick to steady you by your arms.
"I am so sorry, miss… woah," he said as he looked down at you, taking in your face for the first time, his hands still resting on your upper arms. You felt yourself go red, suddenly unable to look him in the eye and instead opting for looking anywhere but.
"No, no, it was my fault; I should have watched where I was going," you said.
He shook his head and released his hold on you. "You’re… man, you are really beautiful," he said.
"What?" you asked, surprised.
"I mean—uh, you were really beautiful… out there! On set, you know," he corrected himself, and you swore you saw a faint blush form across his cheeks.
You bit your lip and finally found the courage to meet his gaze. "I appreciate the compliment."
"Yeah, no problem. How come I’ve never seen you around here before?" he asked, crossing his arms and tilting his head in curiosity.
That right there… it took everything in you not to melt right then and there. You could see the indentations of his biceps from under his tight-fitted jacket, the arm cross just amplifying them. It didn't help that you also just barely came up to his chest, which, while intimidating, also made him all the more attractive.
You swallowed thickly and averted your eyes. "Well, I never needed a stunt double, so…" you trailed off.
"Yeah, that’s fair. Totally get it, yeah." He clicked his tongue and nodded, looking away momentarily. Before you could turn to see what he was looking at, he squinted, looking back down at you. His hand peeled away from his arm to hover in front of you.
"Colt," he said, extending his hand. "Name's Colt Seavers… I’m kind of a big deal around here. You know, doing car crashing, rope climbing, cliff-diving stuff," he explained with a smirk.
You let out a small, quiet giggle as you reached for his hand, giving it a shake as you stated your own name. His hand was big, rough, and calloused, no doubt from years of hard work and training, but it was warm. A strong grip, but ever so gentle.
"I, uh, do the acting stuff." You repeated his words, and his smirk broke into a smile, one that nearly took your breath away.
It was then, looking at his smile, that you realized the opportunity before you.
You had to say something, had to tell him, and you weren't about to let this opportunity pass.
"I think you're pretty beautiful, too," you said, and that caught his attention, his eyebrows raising.
"You do?"
"Yes," you confirmed with a nod. "Out there… on set, I mean."
He let out a short laugh, his hands moving back to his pockets. He was sort of swaying, almost as if he wasn’t sure what to do, what to say. It was adorable.
Alright, you needed to do something. The fear of letting another moment like this go to waste was far too much. So many guys had slipped through your fingers because of your hesitance—a real shame, too, considering how most of them weren’t even remotely attractive.
But Colt, though…
"Listen, um… maybe I'm jumping the gun here, but would you like to—"
"Yes," his answer was nothing short of immediate. “Absolutely, yes… yeah hundred percent, yeah- yes… yes."
It took him a second, took him a long second, to realize you hadn’t even finished your question. His eyes went wide as fear evidently started to creep in.
"Shit, uh- sorry. Yeah, uh… yeah, I'm listening. You can keep going." He motioned with his hand for you to continue, and you had to suppress a smile.
Well, this is definitely promising.
"Maybe we could hang out sometime? Have dinner or something?" you suggested.
"Dinner, yeah- dinner is good. Dinner is… great. I love dinner. Dinner is, uh… dinner is great," he stammered, and you couldn't help but give him a small laugh, one that was cut off when his eyes went wide yet again.
"Sorry, I'm just… yeah, sorry, I'm just- I'm gonna… hey, can I get your number?" His question was followed by him digging into his pocket and pulling out his cell phone, which was cracked beyond belief. “Not so I can bother you or anything, not that I would- I mean unless you wanted me to bother you, I guess, which- no, sorry. Just, like, text you, I guess, yeah.”
Your eyes went wide at the state of his phone. "How does that even work?"
"I'm a pro. Just a quick swipe to the left and a few presses, and it works fine, see?" He tapped the screen a few times before opening his contacts, and he handed the phone to you. "Here."
"You know what? I'll just put it in my phone if that's okay," you said.
"Oh, yeah, yeah- absolutely," he said, nodding. "Whatever makes you feel comfortable, yeah."
You quickly punched in his numbers and sent a text, a small, simple message. One that escalated to where you were now, weeks after that dinner, his hands roaming your body as he pressed you against the door of your new and current trailer.
You should’ve known you weren’t going to run lines that day.
A stuntman running lines?
Yeah, right. He runs through scenes instead, and… this was definitely a scene.
God, how ready you were for that first take to start.

Haha what do you mean Tom Ryder was one of the bad guys. What do you mean. Beautiful ATJ could never. Tom is my asshole boyfriend. He uses a million sticky notes to remember things. He's scared to do his own stunts. He cried in a tub after accidentally killing a guy.

Ok so the fall guy movie is actually brilliant... Not in that it is intellucutally genius. But in that it shines brightly.
It's got wit, romance, drama, intrigue, cleverly done meta-references made in a movie about making a movie... it's self-aware in the best way, it's over the top, it's got real stunts, and it has heart to keep it grounded despite having some ridiculous things going on.
The main character is really likeable and he's basically a more masculine Ken with a cooler job and a Barbie who doesn't cuck him. And the main female character is great too as she has a reason to be scorned, but she also doesn't come off as a person who is always unpleasant and rude (just to her ex, and even then after they talk she tries to be professional).
I really felt the irl director was making a good old fashioned fun movie. No big agenda. No in-your-face liberal or political messaging.
It pokes a little fun at the expense of hollywood actors as a stereotype, with well-placed references to Tom Cruise, Jason Momoa, Johnny and Amber, and the industry in general with its cliches and scandals...
it nods to the audience as if to say "you're right... Hollywood is full of weird and awful people, and they don't necessarily like the audience, but there are still some of us who care about the magic of cinema. We get it, and we are on your side. You're not a nihilism-consuming dog in search of bacon hiding a forced message. You want fun, you want action, spectacle, humor, a little bit of love, and a movie that doesn't hate you. Also a bit of gratuitous shirtless Gosling for the ladies. Here you go."
And I really appreciated it!
Gosh I wish it was a bigger smash at the box. GO SEE IT...

trouble (colt seavers x stunt double!reader)
Colt considers himself a pretty laid back man. He gets along well with a lot of people. Most people. It’s been a while, since his work with Tom, that he has had to deal with someone who really irked him. Until he meets you. The both of you are stunt doubles for the leads of a new, fast-paced action movie.
At first, he thinks you’re cute (well, as much as he tries to convince himself otherwise, he still does). The first stunt he does for the movie is one with you and that’s what gets you all in trouble. You don’t like what you see as a careless attitude he has when it came to stunts and he makes the mistake of joking that you should “take things more easily”. From then on, you guys are always squabbling over something.
It doesn’t help that when he finds out that you have a cool motorcycle stunt, he talks to the director in hopes that he’ll get the stunt instead. You find out about that and you’re not happy.
Well, the motorcycle stunt gets done. He can’t deny that you look great wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses, expertly performing the stunt in one take.
Now, he’s watching from behind the cameras as you perform another stunt, this time a car one. Your character’s involved in a car chase on a beach and you’re supposed to go barreling down the dock, only to stop right before the end of it.
The stunt’s going great, you’re getting on the dock, and then—
“It won’t stop. The brakes won’t—!” You yell into your mic, before the car pummels into the water and disappears.
For a split second, everything seems to be going in slow motion. Colt looks up from the camera to the actual dock—and you’re just gone. His heart begins to hammer as it sets in what really has happened. He can hardly think before he’s sprinting off, along with the medics on the set and other professionals, who are on standby in case anything goes wrong. And something has gone really, really wrong.
Someone grabs his arm, pulling him back to let the guys do what they have to do. They’re gathering equipment together, one person tying a rope around another person’s waist.
Colt feels sick to his stomach as he watches the man dive into the water, your panicked voice replaying in his mind. He’s heard you annoyed, exasperated, but never this. He’s seen stunts go wrong, but not to this extent.
He’ll save the thinking about whatever brake thing went wrong for later. His mind’s filled with you, your image, your fear.
The man with the rope resurfaces and there’s commotion about the angle the car’s at. He needs something that enables him to breathe longer underwater. Colt wants to scream as they fumble around with goddamn snorkeling equipment — you’re sinking underwater! He’ll go in himself if he has to.
Finally, the man dives in again, and after a tense minute, he emerges, carrying you.
He runs with the medics, unable to do much aside from stand there. One of the medics pounds on your chest and, when he sees that you aren’t breathing, he begins to feel like he can’t either. Colt snatches a blanket out of someone’s hands and kneels down beside you, begging for you silently to wake up.
After the second round of rescue breaths and CPR, you wake with a desperate gasp for air, for life. It’s the most beautiful sound Colt has ever heard. He wraps the blanket around your shoulders, helping you sit up as you focus on getting as much the air in as possible.
Your eyes flicker up to meet his. Nothing needs to be said in this moment. Colt rubs your back with the towel as a gurney is brought to you. “Up you go,” he murmurs, lifting you onto the gurney.
Your eyes stick on him as you’re strapped onto the gurney, a silent plea to not be left alone. Colt understands, he’s not about to leave you alone for a second. He follows the gurney towards the ambulance, as paramedics have now arrived.
He helps them lift the gurney into the ambulance and sits down inside, watching as the paramedics flock around you. One takes your vitals, the other places an oxygen mask over your mouth. He hears them talk about the possibility of hypothermia and takes a hold of your hand.
“I know you’re scared, but you’re gonna be just fine and I’m going to be here for you,” he whispers. He pushed people away when he had his back injury, but he’s not going to let you be alone while you recover. He promises himself that.
The ambulance arrives at the hospital and you’re whisked away. Despite knowing that you’re awake, Colt still worries. He tries to distract himself by updating the movie crew and talking to the hospital staff, continuously asking for any updates they might have on you.
Eventually a nurse out comes out and tells him that you’re asking for him. He practically runs to your room, having to force himself to slow down right before he enters. He has to be collected.
He’s not, at all, collected on the inside.
“Hey, troublemaker,” Colt greets as he saunters in, smiling because you’re all bundled up in blankets and you look absolutely adorable. He sits down in a chair next to you.
“Hi,” you say quietly, mustering up a smile.
He asks you about how you’re feeling, if you’re okay, about the monitors, practically interrogating you. He eases up when he sees you start to get overwhelmed with all the questions, though.
“God, that . . . That was scary,” he finally admits.
“I know,” you agree, gazing at him. How could a man you found to be so annoying be so sweet at the same time?
“That’s never gonna happen again. They’re gonna investigate and see what went wrong,” he assures you. He’d sent a very demanding text to the director about that.
You nod and he can see that you’re tired, which you have every right to be.
“You know, they say that body heat is the best way to warm someone up,” he says, smirking and only half-joking.
You roll your eyes at him. “Just sit with me, okay?” You ask him, patting the empty space on your bed.
He nods, taking his place. He stays until the nurses come to kick him out, and even then, with his charm, manages to negotiate a few more minutes. When you doze off on his shoulder, the nurses don’t have the heart to make him leave. He’s not gonna leave your side again.
