“Please, don’t ever do that again.” Word Count: 585 FakeChop AU. Warning for guns.

The sounds of gunshots rang out all around you and you had to duck behind a car for cover. Quickly, you patted yourself down only to swear softly under your breath when you remembered that you had opted not to bring your gun to the meeting. You’d told the guys it was a run of the mill deal that didn’t warrant a lot of back up or even for you to pack a firearm; you knew you could handle handing over some drugs.

What you weren’t expecting was for the exchange to be ambushed.

Thankfully, your crew must have known better because they weren’t far behind once the fighting broke out. Before running for your cover, you spotted Aleks hopping out of the car that Jakob was driving while Asher and Brett came charging in with the guns drawn. You reached into your boot and pulled out a knife that you always had stashed there, at least you weren’t entirely helpless.

“Y/N!” you heard a familiar voice call from across the abandoned warehouse.

Before you even had the chance to look, someone had come up behind you and grabbed hold of you. You struggled and tried to turn your knife around on them but their grip was too strong and the managed to get the knife away from you. They dragged you out from behind the car and called loudly for everyone to stop. Everyone in your crew quickly drew their guns on the man behind you, making him tighten the hold he had on you.

“Alright, Fake Chop… put your guns down and we can sort this out without anyone getting hurt,” he said, and you could feel the barrel of a gun being pressed against your temple.

You swallowed hard and looked straight ahead to see James tightening the hold he hand on his gun. He looked at you for a split second and gave a barely perceivable nod of his head. Suddenly Aleks, Brett, Asher, Jakob, and Lindsey all turned and fired on the other crew while you simultaneously brought your head back against your assailant’s chin and your heel down onto his instep.

His grip loosened enough for you to drop to your knees and there was one last gunshot that went off above your head. When you looked back, the rival menace was on his side dead. You let out a sigh of relief and felt yourself being taken into someone’s arms. Not even questioning it, you sunk into the embrace and exhaled shakily.

“Fuck, Y/N…,” James breathed into your ear, holding you tighter, “Please, don’t ever do that again.”

You shook your head and wrapped your arms around his waist, trying to calm the way your heart was hammering against your ribcage. Next to you, there was the clattering sound and you looked to see your knife sitting next to you on the ground.

Asher shrugged, “You dropped that.”

“I’m glad we’re all okay, but we need to dip before five-oh shows up and we’re in the middle of a god damn bloodbath,” Aleks said hurriedly, holstering his weapon.

James was quick to agree and helped you to your feet, leading you back to Lindsey’s car and helping you into the back. You settled quickly against James’ side and closed your eyes as Lindsey peeled out of the empty lot to flee the scene. “I’m glad you’re okay,” James whispered, “But, god, next time take someone with you, and a gun.”

You could only nod your head.
