Fairy Tail: Cana's Gift

Laxus carefully tried to hide something in his coat as he entered the Guild. In typical Fairy Tail fashion, the place was in a frenzy. Lucy and Erza were trying to hold back Natsu and Gray as another fight was breaking out, Gajeel was showing off to Levy as Jet and Droy cried their eyes out and Elfman was screaming 'Man this' and 'man that'. He waded past the chaos and sat at the bar right next to Cana. He took a quick glance and froze. Battles were no problem for him, he could fight in plenty and never lose his cool. But Cana? Something about her made his heart swell. She turned to him and gave him a sultry smile.

Cana: See something you like, handsome?

Laxus: Um, I- *ahem* well, uh... you really caught me off guard there.

Cana: *chuckles*

Laxus: You're evil, you know that? Anyway the old man didn't have any quests for me to take, so I decided to step out and get you a little something.

From his coat, Laxus pulled out a bouquet of roses. Cana couldn't help but blush. She could hardly believe that Laxus, of all people, would give her roses. Among the members, he had a reputation for being a bad boy. Tough, uncaring and even cruel to an extent. But here he was, courting her like a gentleman.

Cana: Oh Laxus, these are beautiful! *takes roses*

Laxus: That's not all, look inside the bouquet.

Cana: Huh? *rummages bouquet* Oh my!

From the bouquet, Cana pulled out a bottle of Aligheri label red wine. This was one of Fiore's most expensive wines, only ever tasted by royals and nobles.

Cana: H-How did you-

Laxus: Don't worry about it. *smiles*

Cana: Laxus... thank you!

Cana leaped from her chair and embraced Laxus in a tight hug, peppering his cheek with kisses.

Cana: Say *whispers* you wanna get outta here?

Laxus: ...huh???

Cana: Meet me upstairs. We can share the bottle.

Laxus' face became red as a tomato and he melted into a puddle. Cana shook her head and laughed nervously.

Cana: Maybe that was a bit too far.

Oh, thank you for your ask, anon 😍 Fairy Tail too? That's great! Black Clover might be my favorite manga/anime, but Fairy Tail was the one that definitely hooked me up for mangas and animes, so it has a special place in my heart.

Let start with Black Clover: Yami x Charlotte... Makes sense, compels me 🤩 Yep, I absolutely love this ship. What can I say about Yamichar that hasn't been said before? It is a Black Clover classic and I love their dynamic. Even though I don't think that a ship absolutely needs to be canon to be loved (I ship too much crack for that 😂), I can't wait to see them finally getting together.

Fuegoleon x Nozel... Makes sense, doesn't compel me. Or rather, halfway compels me. I don't hate them at all and a saw enough amazing fanarts and read pretty good fanfics of them to actually enjoy it when I see this ship. But I prefer to see them as rivals and best friends. But I can totally see why people ship them and all I can say to you, continue to do so 🤩

Now Fairy Tail: Sting x Yukino... Makes sense, doesn't compel me. And sorry, not even halfway. I can totally understand why people ship them and I see the appeal. But it just doesn't work for me. I'd rather see them as friends. I prefer other ships with them, which might be not as popular, but I enjoy them a lot. Sting and Yukino are a great Brotp in my books, though.

Laxus x Cana... Makes sense, compels me 🤩 It is probably one of my favorite Fairy Tail ships. I love their dynamic together, the fanarts and fanfics I found about them are great and I can also love them as Brotp, which I love when I ship something.

This ain’t gonna be a very detailed or long post and most of these are just crumbs but hear me out.. MIRAFREED

This ship.. I remember that, when I started watching Fairy Tail, I really fell in love with these two very hard and I honestly thought that they could end up together.

With how the manga progressed the possibility of this ship becoming canon isn’t realistic anymore (by now, Fraxus would make the most sense to me personally and Mira gives heavy wlw vibes) but that doesn’t mean that I, or we, cannot still enjoy it and all headcanons around it based on the interactions we have or the things we know about them.

Honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me if, even just for a couple of chapters or a short amount of time, Hiro Mashima had actually planned something for these two. Let’s see..

Starting point is definitely their absolutely iconic fight. “Only a demon can master a demon”. This fight was absolutely feral and so many people loved seeing their demon forms, including me. To this day I have the opinion that neither of these two were allowed to show their true powers in the rest of the manga like they did in their fight against each other (or the Battle of Fairy Tail in general) and that’s a shame because both of them are SUCH powerful mages with such cool powers.

And then of course, the entire interaction that followed up when Mira defeated Freed. I don’t think I have to say too much about it.

Mira’s speech about loneliness and becoming kind and how they both can/could see themselves in those words because isolation has played a part in their lives.

Many people headcannoned that Freed and Mira would go on a date at the next harvest festival and that really is a very wholesome thought. They’d look back at how things were and how far they have come thus far. People can always change.

Post-Battle of Fairy Tail scene

They apparently fought side by side during the Grand Magic Games arc but these scenes were never explored/implemented in the anime - a shame, because I really would have loved to see them fight side by side in more detail and also animated. One of many missed opportunities.

It’s been yeeeeears since these official artworks dropped on Mashima’s twitter and they both were posted around the same time. Similar aesthetics, clothing color and accents, background style?

And then there was this post card set designed by Hiro where they can also be seen being together.

Mira is a passionate and wonderful singer and she also plays instruments. Freed loves musical instruments and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was able to play the one or other instrument himself.

Then there’s Mira’s function as barmaid and the fact that Freed learned to be a host during his time at the Blue Pegasus guild.

It seems that both of them are skilled cooks as well.

So there are definitely shared interests and occupation possibilities.

Oh! Let’s not forget about modelling because we have two very gorgeous people here who are popular among other people as well and have been ranked in the Weekly Sorcerer’s “Wizard I’d like to be my as boyfriend/girlfriend” ranking multiple times.

They’re both the head of their respective teams/groups/trios. And they both can have scary af vibes. (These are some pretty similar/parallel panels and I don’t think it’s a coincidence)

Also just their entire aesthetic and the theme of this ship. Powerful demon couple who’re also attractive as hell and can do occupations like modelling, cooking, hosting with ease. Sweet and devilish sides. They just... “vibe” really well together as two characters.

Like I said; most of these things are just crumbs but they’re still aspects that make this ship so beautiful and years back I would have rooted for this ship to become canon because I genuinely saw a chance for them to be an actual thing. I know I’m not the only one because for some time Mirafreed was considered a ship alongside the big four + Elfgreen (and Laxana, actually) in the fandom.

I'm personally more of a Fraxus, Elfever, Bixanna and Canajane girlie but I love that you threw Freed x Cana (Frecana??) into the mix because V A L I D I actually love it?? Fully agreed that Cana is part of the Strauss siblings and of course Laxus is linked to the Thunder Legion. Actually.. Laxana and Mirafreed are also nice. OH DAMN. I love that none of the ships are canon and all of these people are so shippable with each other what??

That actually sounds so polyamorous... I'm not very fraxus fan, i really love miraxus, and I find Lisanna as a lil sis to Laxus, but I like the idea of poly family when everyone is with everyone and it's like that's my friend Lisanna and her boyfriend Bickslow and his boyfriend Freed and his boyfriend Laxus and his girlfriend Mirajane and her girlfriend Evergreen and her boyfriend Elfman and his girlfriend Cana.
