Summary:

Emmet knows better than to seek out the fae realm.

But what choice does he have? With Ingo missing and the bond between them broken, how could this be the fault of anyone BUT the fae?

The faerie stole his brother, and if Emmet must march through a land beyond mortal comprehension to get him back, so be it.

Before it’s too late.

(Meanwhile, a faerie awakens with no recollection of what came before- only a lingering sense that something is missing)

Congratulations to submas getting me to post art online for the first time in years. I came across @blueisquitetired's fics and fell in love with her FaeU, so much so that I had to doodle out some Ingos (and Elesa's mom) lifted from a flashback story that is sprinkled throughout the chapters in Silver Bloodstains. The whole series is great. Highly recommend.

🎀 What differences in aesthetic do the ships have? Are there ship tropes to them?

Quite a bit of it is a difference in level of...traditionality? How each of my muses view a relationship varies it up by a lot!

Volo's a muse that has a very intense, still pretty conservative view of relationships; It's a huge deal, so most of his life is devoted to that. Humbled as he may be in losing verses, his attention is turned less from what he thinks is lavish, to what Felix (or whoever) thinks is lavish or is truly comfortable with. But there's elements of 'i know best for you'. a Little mixture of nice things with the simple wilderness life. Isolation. gold accents and wood and rocks. Volo for the most part deems himself pretty 'masculine' and woodsy, and associates Felix with more delicate, 'angelic' (god-given) aesthetic, mixed in with a bit of enamourus and hearts. an 'i will take care of you' kind of vibe in most verses (substituted in a mini verse where he doesn't see Felix again until modern day- that one is full of clawed desperation instead upon first seeing him again.)

Meanwhile Arven in a ship w/ Felix is a much, much younger and more modern guy; Standing beside each other in the kitchen, netflix and chill, memeing with each other, and cuddling the fluffy animals. Neither are really 100% 'confident' or 'lead', both can be loud and awkward and rush off. The goofy adult college vibes where school is much more laid back than middle/high school, nobody gives a shit. Both almost seem a wreck without each other, despite being perfectly intelligent and capable.

And Ingo who is in between, acts something of both a mild butler, and a fancy man; They play light chivalry for fun. Tipping his hat and 'after you's despite the relationship being on mostly equal footing. Ingo hinting at acting like a man's man, though he will back off and show his timid side. Both homebodies. Rain on the window. Starbucks/coffee shop. holding hands to stay together on the street, going through the mall. Very seasoned navigators of the city, although the subway master moreso.

.....and then there's my Emmet, who just likes to be loud and obnoxious, and drags Felix along with him, lovingly. This is very gayly shopping for clothes and accessories, attending crowded pride parades and christmas parties, having a normal-ass conversation but BY THE WAY THIS IS MY BOYFRIEND. Emmet says be free or else- /lh

The more I see of the new event, the more it feels like Ingo pulled some fae level trickery on his Chandelure. That's the pokemon that is notorious for killing people by consuming their soul power. And Ingo looked at it and went "surely 'leading people to their final destination' means that it can guide people to the place they want to reach". And his Chandelure just.. rolled with it.

Clearly a sign of great skill on Ingo's part, it's just funny how he managed to redirect the murder lamp into doing something so positive out of its own free will

you push everyone away.

it's not that you don't appreciate help, it just feels so wrong. you still have a hard time saying 'i love you' back. but you don't ever have to. tell people you love them by remembering little things they tell you. paying for their lunch the next time you go out. telling them you saw a movie and it reminded you of them. sometimes it's hard to remember that just because you've felt unloved before, it doesn't mean you're unloved now. I love you :-)

maybe the teacher always sat next to you on the bus because it was the only open seat on field trips. maybe you were the fourth kid in the group project who was only there because they needed one more person. maybe you spent all of 7th grade lunch in the library. i think it's important to remember that it won't always be like that. it might take longer than expected but nobody is alone forever. sometimes it's hard to remember that just because you've felt unloved before, it doesn't mean you're unloved now. hey. don't feel bad about writing submas angst. gamefreak did that to them. exploring that space and playing in it is entirely reasonable. it makes sense to want to look at the twins' separation, and the different ways things could go after PLA/what happened to separate the two of them. just tag it, like you would anything else, and move on your happy way.

it does not make you ableist to explore canon. and hey, as an autistic adult? ive written a power fantasy where emmet gets to be unhinged with an axe! i have 5k of nonhuman ingo human emmet written up and not posted because when i was a kid i always hoped i was some fae thing and not human! my power fantasies encompass those things and so much more.

none of this is inherently ableist. emmet did not go apeshit because he is autistic- he went apeshit because the world stole the most important person out of his life and he would not let that stand. in any of the many aus i have where one twin or the other is nonhuman, it's not because they're autistic, it's because they're copying the other twin, and there's other people in the world that are also like that! it's my personal power fantasy, and I'm going to write it! it's not inherently ableist!

finally, certainly none of this is comparable to an extended hate campaign intended to wipe autistic people out of existence. don't feel bad about writing these things. tag them, make sure you're not doing it Because they're autistic. and then don't espouse any autism $peaks bullshit and you will be fine.

if you try to argue that your experience is more authentic/important than mine i will block you. please learn about competing access needs, and move on

I shall now introduce: The Bloodstruck Submas AU.

Hahah... I made the vampire AU a bit too serious.

So let me give you a rundown of the concept I came up with...

After first realizing he was turned into an immortalized vampire [most likely by some sort of fae; I haven't fully fleshed this part out yet], Emmet of course rushes to Ingo, who is revolted by his brother's new appearance -- especially the cursed eye he had received.

Initially Ingo assumes this is some sort of prank before noticing movement in the "eyeball" as well as grayscale colors on Emmet that are too convincing.

Emmet's curse causes everything he touches to become grayscale temporarily, which adds on to the challenge of keeping his career as a subway boss.

Even in an immortal state, he is determined to continue doing what he loves most, and to continue smiling for his passengers -- but the glaring prominence of vampiric traits is overwhelming and difficult to conceal.

He attempts to hide his cursed eye with bandages and to pull his fangs out with pliers -- only to realize he's indestructible. The other eye as well as the wings are another ordeal of frustration.

Gradually, the newfound vampire realizes that hiding all of his traits at once to passengers is nearly impossible -- and so, the meltdowns begin. His mental state is gradually worsening.... but later on, he may come to terms of acceptance and fill the void elsewhere.
