A J. Crew Factory store opened in my local discount everything strip mall (tj maxx, nordstrom rack, trader joe's, dsw, off fifth, bloomindales outlet, and it used to also have a marshalls -- yes marshalls and tj maxx in one strip mall-- and a cost plus world market and old navy, the two places I shopped the most) and I was excited! But I went in there on saturday and... I have never been to a place with less of a point of view? Like it looks like the store where moms in detergent commercials shop. Everything looked fake, like a costume of what they think a woman wears. I have bought a lot of things at J Crew Factory! But something about seeing it all in a store was unbelievably bland. And completely unrelated to J.Crew!
And ANOTHER thing! Nothing had a price!!! Everything just had the "comparable retail" price on the tag, and then there were little signs everywhere that were like, "40% off retail dresses" or "blouses: your price, 25% off!" so you had to like, find a sign that matched the thing you wanted (is this top a blouse???) and then do math?? But like CLEARLY this shitty discount dress is never going to sell for $118!!! But that was the only price!!
Anyway I hated it and I will probably be back but I won't be happy about it.

The Advantages of Bedroom Furniture
Every home can benefit from having high-quality, solid wood furniture. These items are timeless, adaptable, and incredibly well-liked. Solid wood furniture from furniture stores in Rhode Island is mostly considered by interior design for every area in the house, from bedrooms to living rooms to dining rooms and beyond. Unfortunately, a lot of people opt for furniture constructed of inferior materials. These can be made quickly and at a lower cost, but they don't have the size, grandeur, longevity, or tradition of solid wood furniture.
Strong, durable construction
One of the strongest, most resilient, and longest-lasting materials is wood. Cheaper materials, like MDF, are easily damaged and over time start to chip. They are fragile and flinch under pressure. They may start to squeak with use over time.
Undeniable beauty
Solid wood, like oak or pine, from a furniture factory outlet has a distinctive appearance, feel, and air of dignity and allure. No two pieces of solid wood are the same, from lighter shades to rich, dark tones.
Creative flexibility
Some materials are only appropriate for certain items, spaces, or themes. None of these restrictions apply to wood. It is a material that blends well in almost every environment, from more contemporary design choices to more rustic, traditional ones.
Similar to how multiple finishes and wood species can be intimately combined, achieving a visual harmony that a material like plastic can never achieve. A lighter wood, like oak, can be combined with the deeper tones of solid pine stained in a finish like Old Wood to create a variety and versatility in interior design.

Waldmann pens aren't silly expensive because they're pens. They're silly expensive because the body and cap is hand worked sterling silver made by unionized employees in the EU. They're gonna wax poetic about writing experience and history and whatnot, but the fact of the matter is that they're basically making and selling a small piece of artisan showboating that you happen to be able to put ink into and write with. Most big pen brands that have fountain pens in their range do so, including the people who make G2 gel pens.
They still sell, because all of humanity likes a good sparkly twinkly thing, even the parts of humanity with a higher financial pain tolerance than most.
Whether these are actually meant to be written with is a point of debate. Some collectors say no, several makers say yes. There were 23 pens made of the one in the picture. I personally believe that doesn't really speak to a philosophy of "everyone deserves an excellent writing experience", but I'm very aware that's an opinion that will get me ripped apart by some people in the fountain pen hobby.
The reason most fountain pens are more expensive than dip pens, is because they're designed for everyday use, meaning the nibs take decades to wear out and you can store enough ink in one for several pages of writing instead of having to carry ink around. You can't use most of them with art inks, like India or pigment inks, but the non-silly expensive ones are made as an everyday writing tool, and not primarily for calligraphy or art.
Comparing dip pens to fountain pens is like comparing artist grade oil pastels to a 5 pack of crayons given to a toddler at a restaurant. They can be used similarly, but they do not serve the same function.
In the words of my people:

=====================================
A young man dressed casually walks along the back of the concert, finding a comfortable spot among the empty seats at the back. He sees many beautiful girls walk out to the stage and preparing to perform for a special stage.
There were many beautiful faces but he smiled, focusing his attention on one of them. They waved at the fans who have been waiting for them to do this special stage, one of the girls looking around, as if looking for somebody that she is waiting for.
The girl spotted him and started smiling brightly, waving in the general direction to where he was sitting. The young man keep on a serious face and posed a little finger heart for her. Making her blush and look away, himself smiling like a fool after seeing her reaction.
She looked back at him, showing a small finger heart at his direction.
Then the girls started performing, dancing and singing along to the song. He smiled and clapped along to the music. In the middle of the performance, he took out a large fan board saying, "KIM MINJU! KIM MINJU!" and started swinging the board, making her smile brightly during the performance.
After the performance, everyone left the concert except for the young man, who sat the back and waited for Minju to come after the performance. The idols have a chat with the director and staffing team, who praised them for a successful performance before they head into the make-up room to remove their make up and change out of their outfits.
While waiting, the young man gave a box of cheese cake to the staff for them to share.
"Thank you for the cheesecake. You always bring something for us when you come over." The staff thanked.
"No worries, glad that you like it."
"I will tell Minju that you are waiting for her"
"It's okay, let her take her time. I can wait for her."
After awhile, the man looked back down at his watch and the paper bag that he brought. Just then, Minju came by and tapped his shoulders. "Sorry, did you wait very long for me?" She asked, sitting down at the seat beside him.
"No, your performance was amazing. I like your voice and your dance." He complimented, making Minju blush.
"Really? I was worried that it might not be good..." Minju confessed.
"You are Kim Minju, you can do it!" He cheered her on.
Then he picked up the paper bag and took out some of Minju's favourite dessert, Cheesecake.
"Thank you, Y/n. You must have been tired... You said today you were going to inspect the factories and store outlets around the city. How was it?" Minju asked.
"It was tiring, there was alot of travelling and talking with the staff and all. But... Now that I am with you, I am no longer tired. You give me energy and motivate me." Y/n said,  smiling at Minju's reaction who is blushing and laughing when he held her hand.
=====================================================================================
As Y/n is walking with Minju around the streets, and having their own date in the cold winter. Y/n decided to talk about Minju's contract extension. "Minju... Your contract is expiring with your agency. What are you planning to do?" Y/n asked, wondering what is her next move.
"I think... I will be signing as an actress under another company. A company that has more experience and can help me in my career." Minju said, while she held on to his arm and continued walking, feeling the warmth of Y/n's body.
"Why not... take a break from all and have good rest. You have been working alot, you deserved a break." Y/n said, stopping and looking at Minju's eyes.
"My mom is sick, she's in the hospital. I need the money to take care of her and for her to do surgery. And you know my father..." Minju stopped before continuing to walk on her own, looking down.
"Don't worry, I will take care of you and your mother. Let's get married, and you will have nothing to worry about." Y/n said, chasing up to her, and proposing for them to get married.
Minju smiled back, "You sure you want to get married this young? I thought men usually like to enjoy being unmarried for a while more." She teased.
"As long as i'm marrying you, nothing can worry me." Y/n said, making her blush and look down.
"Have you told your father about us yet?" She asked, making Y/n hesitate a little.
"You haven't told him, have you?" Minju asked again, confirming his suspicions when Y/n nodded guiltily.
"I haven't had the chance to... It's just that... You know... He is very strict about finding a wife and all." Y/n explained.
"What if... Your father doesnt approve of me and wants you to marry some other girl... Someone who is rich and even prettier than me." Minju asked, worried that she might lose him.
"No! It will never happen. I will make sure that we are together, no matter what." Y/n assured her.
"Okay. I trust you." Minju said, smiling as they held each other's hands.
====================================================================================
The next day, when Y/n is at the office, he came to his father's office and wanted to talk to him about Minju. But his father asked him to go home and get into a fresh new outfit before coming back to the office.
Once he was back, his father and him got into a car and the chauffeur started driving without his father speaking a word..
"Dad? Where are we going, we are supposed to still be working at this time." Y/n asked, wondering where they are going.
"Don't worry, and just sit quietly." His father told him.
Soon they arrived at an expensive, luxurious restaurant, where they went to a private dining room. Upon entering the room, he realised what was going on.
His father wanted to set him up with one of Korea's biggest companies' heiresses.
As they sat down, the girl's parents and his father were talking happily. They were satisfied to see their child's future spouse. They even called a matchmaking lady to see if they were compatible, to which the lady said yes.
"The groom is talented and is already helping his father to manage the business at a young age. While the bride is pretty and educated, she will be sure to help her future husband in his business dealings." The matchmaking lady said.
Y/n sighed as he realised the mess that he has gotten into.
=======================================================================================
After the lunch, where the Y/n met the girl and her parents, their parents asked them to go out on a date and know more about each other. Y/n wanted to refuse but he didn't want to embarrass his father or the girl and her parents. So he decided to agree first before saying he had something to attend to.
Y/n and the girl walked in the streets of Gangnam, the girl seemingly happy about the prospect of having Y/n as her husband. Y/n meanwhile thinking about how he needs to solve this big issue.
He wants to marry Minju...
So as they continued taking a slow walk, until they met a cafe, the girl suggested to go to the doctor. "I'm feeling cold. Let's take a seat in the cafe and we can talk. It's warmer inside."
"Sure." Y/n forced a smile.
Once inside, they both ordered drinks and found a seat beside the window where they get a very nice view of the streets.
The girl introduced herself before asking Y/n about his hobbies, what he does in the company. Y/n just answering them, and waiting for them to pass by.
"Hi... my name is..."
By an hour, Y/n decided it was enough and he told the girl that he had matters to tend to in the company and he had to go.
When they were both leaving and about to exit the cafe. Y/n saw Minju walking from a distance and panicked. He quickly stopped the girl at the door.
The girl was flustered when Y/n stopped her with his body and he asked her if she wanted to have a longer conversation,
"Actually, the weather is great. Do you want to go back in for another conversation? The company matters can come later." Y/n suggested.
"Sure!" The girl lit up.
Then Y/n quickly pulled her by the hand and sat at the same seat where they were originally.
Once they had their drinks served and continued talking, Y/n let out a sigh of relief as he didn't see any traces of Minju nearby.
He looked back at the girl who was sitting in front of him, who wanted to know more about him.
"So... what was your name again? Sorry, I'm a little bad with names." Y/n asked, this time actually paying attention.
"My name is Wonyoung... Jang Won-young!" She said brightly, happy that her soon-to-be husband is interested in getting to know her.
"My name is Y/n.... Lee Y/n." Y/n introduced himself.
Y/n looked around and out the window, hoping that Minju is no longer around. Y/n decided to spend awhile talking to Wonyoung before he leaves.
Wonyoung asked a few questions about his hobby and talked about her's, before she talked about what kind of wife she would be. All the while, maintaining an aura of pleasant, and something about her that shouts expensive.
"I would be a wife that would stay at home and take care of the children. I can also help you in your business. I seen how my parents work the business and I learned a few things, hopefully it will be of help to you." Wonyoung said, her hands on her lap, maintaining the elegant pose.
Hearing her plans for when she is married to him in the future, Y/n got uneasy and forced a smile. "Are you still studying or have you graduated?" Y/n asked, slightly interested since Wonyoung mentioned she learned a few things about business.
"Ah~ I just started university a year ago..." Wonyoung said, shy.
"A year ago !?!? H-How old are you???" Y/n asked, surprised and bewildered.
"I am about to reach 20 years old this year." Wonyoung said, brushing her hair to the side of her ear.
"I know you are 24 years old already, and graduated from Seoul National University. And you did it, with honors." Wonyoung said.
"How did you know?" Y/n asked, surprised.
"Your father told me." Wonyoung answered politely.
Y/n nodded.
"I think it's getting late. How about we go home?" Y/n asked.
Wonyoung agreed and got up with Y/n. Y/n took a quick scan around the area and was worried that Minju might still be around.
"Are you leaving now?" Wonyoung asked, her eyes shining at him.
"I will send you home first." Y/n said, making Wonyoung smile at him.
Y/n flagged a taxi and opened the door for Wonyoung to sit first before he sat inside.
Little did he know... Minju saw him and Wonyoung... She observes them for a while and sees them leaving together in a taxi...
=================================================
That night, Y/n went to Minju's show and brought gifts for the staff and her. He got into his seat, found Minju and smiled at her, waving at Minju.
Minju looked at him for a while but did not smile back. In fact, she looked like something was on her mind throughout the night.
When the show ended and Y/n went to look for Minju. She looked a little sad and followed him to his car.
They both sat in the car, however their expressions were different.
Y/n was excited to see her while Minju was disappointed.
"Do you want to go eat? I found a new place." Y/n suggested.
"I saw you with a girl today..." Minju admitted.
"Y-You saw me?" Y/n stuttered guiltily.
"Who is she? Is she the girl that your father wants you to marry?" Minju asked.
Y/n nodded, ashamed.
"So you have not told your father about me? About our relationship?" Minju questioned.
"I..." Y/n was at a loss of words.
Minju disappointed, asked him, "What are you going to do now?"
"The marriage isn't confirmed yet. I'm hoping to convince my father to let me decide on my own marriage." Y/n said, hoping to reassure Minju.
"I even got a ring for you." Y/n said, taking out a box which contains marriage rings and showed it to Minju.
"Trust me please. I really want to marry you Minju." Y/n pleaded with Minju.
"I don't know... I'm really worried. I don't come from a rich family. The girl that I saw today... She is pretty and carries around a rich aura. I'm assuming she's a heiress." Minju said, sadness obvious in her voice.
"I will tell my father about you soon. Please give me some time." Y/n held Minju's hand.
"You have been saying that for a long time. I think we should stop seeing each other if this is not going to work out." Minju said, releasing her hand from Y/n's grasp.
"Minju!" Y/n reached out, hoping to stop Minju.
But Minju unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car, walking away.
==================================================
Y/n went to the office, sighing, stressed and not know what to do. He doesn't want to disappoint his father but he loves Minju. He went up to his office and heard some voices in the office's resting area.
"Ah, boss. Why are you sighing?" A voice said.
"I'm just glad that my son is now fully grown up, and he's about to get married." Y/n's father said.
"See! Look at boss! Ever since he seen his future daughter-in-law, he has been smiling from ear to ear." Another voice said.
"I still remember how when Y/n was a kid and followed his father around in the old company office. He looked weak and was always sick." One voice said.
"I'm just glad that he grew up well and is healthy." Y/n's father said.
"He is also fit, and studies well. He graduated from a top university as well. Can you imagine that?" One of the voice continued.
"I don't expect much from Y/n to be honest... I just want him to marry a decent girl, have some kids and live a good life. I'm planning to pass the company to him once he is more experienced and ready to manage the company." His father confessed.
"Ah, boss. You are preparing to retire already!"
"I started this company from nothing. Now that the company is big and developed, I can finally pass over to my son. I am also growing old, I can't manage it forever." His father joked.
Y/n could hear the sound of Soju being opened and poured, his father and his long-time employees celebrating.
He sighed once again and left the office. He drove to the Han River, where Minju and him used to go on dates all the time.
Now, late at night, and alone. Y/n looked at the blue river and smiled, looking back at the memories of him and Minju. He relaxed and took a deep breathe.
"What should I do..." He mumbled.
He sat for an hour alone, before he drove back home and took a rest for the night.
==================================================================
It had been a week since Y/n met Minju. This time, they agreed to meet at the Han River, where they had many memories together.
"Minju." Y/n said happily, when he finally saw Minju after a week.
"Have you told your father about us?" Minju asked.
Y/n looked down and shook her head.
"So you really are going to marry that girl instead." Minju realised.
"I don't want to! But... I don't wan't to disappoint my father." Y/n admitted to Minju.
"But how about... you be my mistress?" Y/n asked, timidly and ashamed.
"Mistress...?" Minju felt shocked at his request.
"You know that my mother raised me alone single-handedly, and I grew up without knowing my father." Minju started to have tears in her eyes.
"How can you ask me to be a mistress?" Minju cried.
"Minju... I..." Y/n felt helpless.
"I don't want to force you. I will leave." Minju said, wiping her tears away and turning around to walk away.
"Minju! Are you going to give up on our relationship." Y/n asked, helding on to her hand.
Minju looked back at him in sadness and left him alone.
===================================================================
"Appa, can I talk to you about something?" Y/n asked, when he reached home.
"What's wrong?" His father asked, concerned and sitting at the couch.
"Do you want to come out for a meal with me?" Y/n asked, sitting beside his father at the couch and looking at him.
"Sure." His father agreed.
Y/n brought his father to a restaurant where it was peaceful and pleasant environment.
"Why did you bring me here?" His father asked as they entered the restaurant.
"I want to show you someone." Y/n said, smiling.
When they were led to a private table, Minju was already sitting and waiting for them.
"Who is she?" Y/n's father asked.
"She's Minju, my girlfriend." Y/n revealed.
"Girlfriend!?!" His father was shocked to hear him.
"You are supposed to get married soon, what are you doing?"
"Minju and I have been dating for a long while. I wanted to tell you about it, but I couldn't find a good opportunity..." Y/n answered, gathering up the courage to say what he didn't dare to say for the past few months.
"She looks familar." His father asked, looking at Minju carefully.
"Minju is a singer, she is also an actress and music show host." Y/n introduced, smiling at Minju and proud of her.
"A singer? Also a host?" His father was infuriated and looked at Y/n, disappointed.
"Why did you choose to date someone like that?" He continued.
Y/n didnt expect his father's reactions and looked at Minju who was scared.
"Appa, Minju is a good woman. She is good at singing, kind and gentle!" Y/n argued.
"You are already engaged with Wonyoung. Don't do anything that will embarrass me." His father scolded him.
Minju held her hands tightly, nervous and did not know what to say or do.
His father gave him an ultimatum. "If you decide to cancel your engagement, and marry this girl. I will disown you!" His father said to Y/n, looking at Minju angrily before walking away.
"Appa!" Y/n called after his father, hoping to stop him, but to no avail.
Y/n looked at Minju before chasing after his father. Minju herself left behind, looking pathetic as she sat alone at the restaurant.
=========================================================================
After that incident, Minju and Y/n did not talk ever again. Even when Y/n called or texted Minju to contact her, she did not reply to him.
It had been 3 months, and it was close to Chuseok, an event that is auspicious and it is also an time of the year where familes gather together to celebrate and spend time together.
Chuseok was also the day where Y/n and Wonyoung was supposed to be married, but Y/n has been thinking of Minju. He wants to cancel the marriage but he is not willing to offend his father and the Jang family.
On the weekend, Y/n went to Minju's last day as a MC and see Minju again, having missed her so dearly.
However, he couldn't enter the building and wasn't allowed to see Minju. Minju herself even hiding and running away from Y/n when the show ended.
3 days later, Y/n was coming off from work when the director of the show contacted Y/n.
"Y/n, are you free right now?" The director asked.
"Yes, I am in my car right now, driving back home." Y/n answered.
"Can you come over to the SBS building? I have something to pass you." The director asked.
"Is it is something important?" Y/n asked.
"It's from Minju. She have this handwritten letter for you." The director said, which made Y/n turn around and drive quickly to the building.
Y/n arrived at the building and received the letter. "Is there something wrong with you and Minju? I never seen you at her mother's funeral." The director said as he passed the letter to Y/n.
"Her mother died!?!?" Y/n asked in shock.
"She didn't tell you? Her mom died 2 days ago. That night, when Minju finished her last day of being the MC. She didnt even stay behind for a farewell party, she immediately went to see her mom in the hospital. That night, her mom passed away..." The director informed him.
"Well, tonight she gave me this letter and told me to pass it to you tomorrow but  I need to catch a flight tonight." The director said, before leaving the building.
Y/n opened the handwritten letter from Minju.
'Y/n Oppa,
I don't want to trouble you nor don't I want you to be disowned by your father. I love you but I hope your marriage to Miss Jang is happy, You should forget about me.
Now that my mother is dead, I no longer have any family with me. There is no more meaning for me to leave in this world.
I will leave this world and join my mother in another world. Don't worry about me, I will be with my mother, and I will be happy.
By the time, you see this letter, the news of my body being discovered in the Han River should have reached you.
Please do not blame me for being selfish.
Love,
Minju.'
Upon reading the letter, Y/n quickly got on his car and drive immediately to the Han River.
Y/n prayed as he drove, hoping to stop Minju before she commits sucide.
Once he reaches the Han river, he ran to the spot where Y/n and Minju spend the most time around and once he reached the place. He ran around, hoping to find a glance of Minju.
While looking around, Y/n found Minju walking slowly down to the river. Y/n took off his shoes, trying to grab Minju back and away from the water.
"Minju! I'm here!" Y/n shouted as he ran into the water.
"Stop!" Y/n shouted at Minju, as he sees Minju submerging into the water. He dived into the water and grab Minju away.
Y/n pulled Minju away and got onto the ground.
Minju spit out water, coughing once she got pulled onto the ground. Y/n too himself, spitting out water and lying down on the ground. Happy and smiling that he was able to save Minju.
"Oppa? Why are you here?" Minju asked, looking at Y/n, herself wet and hair all messy.
Y/n pulled her into a tight hug and kissed her. "Why didn't you tell me that your mother was sick? Even when she died, you should have told me!" Y/n berated her.
"I don't want to disturb you from your marriage. You are getting married soon, and... I am no longer your girlfriend..." Minju said, pushing Y/n away.
"No! Minju, when I read that letter and on the way here. I realised that I love you, I can't lose you." Y/n explained.
"I am going to cancel the marriage and marry you." He continued.
"What about your father?" Minju asked, worried.
"I'm sure my father will understand. If it means me getting disowned and offending the Jangs'. So be it. I know that I can't lose you." Y/n said, holding Minju's hand.
Minju smiled and nodded, hugging him.
Y/n told his father about his decision and even told his father that he will love Minju forever. His father, helpless, could only give in to Y/n and even helped him cancel his wedding with the Jangs'.
Instead, Y/n would marry Minju and they held a small private wedding.
In a year's time, Minju would give birth to their first child together, a son.
"Minju, I'm very thankful that today you are alive and married to me. I can't imagine a life without you.. Or our son." Y/n said, patting Minju's hair after she gave birth to their son.
Y/n kissed Minju on her cheeks.
"I love you."

Last week, I was driving past the local shoe emporium, when I thought it might be a good idea to buy some shoes. Seizing the wheel with both hands, I roughly jagged the Valiant across four lanes of interprovincial traffic. Did I lift throttle as I approached the casually-landscaped dirt embankment separating the parking lot from the outlet mall? Only if I were a coward who drove an untrustworthy car.
After the '74 Vally ceased its end-over-end rolling, landing perfectly on its wheels like a 3400-lb ballerina made mostly out of iron oxide, I stepped out and headed into the mall. Now, if you haven't been to a mall lately, you're probably a normal human being. The only folks who still roam the shattered husks of Western cultural imperialism that dot our apocalyptic landscape are the poor souls that are paid to be there. And also old people, doing mall-walking, because it's too hot to exercise outside.
When the world still made sense, there was a plinth here, marked "information." You could look at a little map of the mall, broken down by categories. In this era, there is no "Men's Shoes" category. There is no map at all. Two burned-out T8 fluorescent bulbs un-shine behind an empty lens, the paper having been removed by some bitter ex-employee turned vandal decades prior. I do not need a map: I already know this particular territory.
Through an unusual – some might say creepy, although that goes way too far and you should get out more – agreement, the Shoes Unlimited is constantly replenished with footwear that other, richer stores did not want. It's not clear what happens to the shoes that do not get bought here, but I am sure it is not a pretty fate.
That is, if any shoes are ever discarded at all. Without a crack management team, the employees have gone feral, resorting to only the activities required for retail survival. The floor is covered in a couple feet of discarded shoeboxes, crinkly tissue paper, and loose athletic trainers which will never again see their factory mate before the sun konks out.
After a few minutes of searching, I finally pick up a box marked Piloti with a picture of a race car on the side of it. Driving shoes, I reason, or at least ones that were made before Formula One turned into a boating event. Although the thermal label on the side of the box is faded, it looks vaguely like my shoe size. My prize is carried to the counter, where I place it in front of an employee who looks at me with a mixture of fear and disgust. I have played this game before, and we begin a wordless game of negotiation, locked in slow-motion combat like two chess players who are trying to figure out which one of the two of us has to take a shit first.
The world turns. Twenty dollars – a moist but otherwise perfectly legal Lizzy 2 – is placed on the counter, and accepted at last. I change my shoes right there, throwing my old ones into the mess on the floor. Will they benefit some other traveller, in the distant future? We may never know, but we have to keep trying.

tagged by @moviesludge so this totally gratuitous info dump is his fault! Har har.
Do you make your bed? Sometimes! We usually just smooth out the covers, just so it's easy to get in at night and not all tangled up. I have a lot of just, executive and mechanical problems with maintenance and cleaning. I actually like having things neat and I like the monotony of cleaning, I have a fantasy life in which I'm just straight up a housewife, but I'm really bad at it. It causes me a lot of grief.
Fave number? 2! From when I was really little I had this sense that two was coming up all the time; obviously this must have been some sort of projection, but it stuck with me. I perceived some sort of subtext about being number two in life somehow, like being good but not meaningfully great at anything, which is fairly neurotic but typical of me as a kid. Anyway I was very disappointed when I learned by accident that Adam Levine has "222" tattooed on his arm, so I guess I won't be doing anything like that!
What’s your job? I guess I have to say I'm a writer, which feels embarrassing. If you say something like that, it sounds like you are succeeding at it, or that you at least make a living that way! Which is not, and may never be true. But it's the only thing anyone will pay me for right now. I have to admit that I feel pretty bad about this, I think I made a huge mistake by trying to see what I could do with my life, and not devoting absolutely all of my energy to finding and keeping a job in a cubicle or behind a cash register. Everyone automatically tells you it's best to "follow your dreams" or whatever but it's not very romantic to have no idea what's going to happen to you, and to be in danger because you're a fucking infant who doesn't know how life works.
Go back to school? Probably not. I was a good student up until I got into college, then I completely fell apart. Part of it was what I now understand are neurological issues, part of it was that I was so depressed I couldn't even get up and go to exams at times, and part of it was that I just had absolutely no idea what to do with my life or even HOW people do things with their lives (I still don't). Like I almost should have just done another four years in high school, or until I had some mental grasp of what college is even for, as a tool for transitioning into real life. The irony is that now I do college-level (possibly even grad level, sometimes) research and writing all the time, under my own power, just because I'm interested and I have a few outlets for it. My professors who struggled to get me to do anything would kill me if they could see what I'm doing now, haha. But if I were to go back to school, I would have to have an absolutely definite plan of why and what to do with it, that would make the debt and the time sink worth it. I admire people who do this, though, I do know adults who totally turned their lives around that way. I just don't have the brains for that.
Can you parallel park? I don't have a driver's license! I learned to drive, and I seem to recall being good at this during lessons. But I failed my one test, I genuinely think the conductor was being really confusing and getting angry with me--like, I was waiting at a light and when it turned green I started to go, and she goes, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!" and I said "I stopped at the red light and when it turned green I drove in the direction you told me to" and she goes "...WELL DID YOU *NOTICE* THAT IT TURNED GREEN???" which was a totally mindblowing question. And then I just felt so demoralized that I never tested again. But I also really think that if I got my license I would be dead by now, or someone else would be. I'm just so extremely nervous and absent-minded, and I also have pretty bad spacial understanding.
Job you had that would surprise people? My first job was working in a perfume factory! Or really it was like a plant that packaged these extremely toxic dollar store perfumes. It was run by a Russian family who were totally fucking insane and the machines were all janky, it was just a handful of us girls from high school working there and it's amazing none of us ever got maimed. The glue for the labels was really shitty, so they would set pallets of bottles out in the sun until they were blazing hot and then we were supposed to roll them between our palms to stick the labels back on. It was extremely painful and I remember thinking, they probably shouldn't be allowed to make us do this lol. The building was tucked back off the road across this wasteland, and there was a giant pile of broken toilets out front. I'll never forget that, I wish I had a photo.
Aliens real? You know what, I'm going to completely plagiarize moviesludge's answer because I find it so satisfying: "I feel like the scope of the universe makes this a certainty and it amazes me how many people think it’s a ridiculous idea. Talk about main character syndrome!" And I will just add that I read Whitley Strieber's Communion for the first time last year and it totally stunned me. I thought I knew what it was going to be like, because to some degree it established all of our cliches about alien abduction, but there's way more to it than that. He has this existential concept about what aliens even are, and what rules they obey, that is not at all restricted to the idea of animals that drive machines around. It's totally worth reading.
Can you drive stick? That's how I learned actually! And I have this concept that if I did have to drive I would be decent at it because I was fairly comfortable during lessons, and for years I have been riding my bike in really tricky situations all over the city. I know and obey the rules and I have a pretty good awareness of myself on the road. And also I always seem to be paired with a best friend or partner who LOVES to drive and I have spent huge amounts of time in cars, paying close attention and helping navigate. But as I said above, my brain is also garbage and I think if I drove a LOT and gave myself regular opportunities to get in trouble, I would inevitably have a nervous breakdown and/or fuck up way worse than a normal person.
Guilty pleasure? I'm with @thechurchofsplatterdaysaintssplatterdaysaints in that I sort of object to this concept. But I also spend a lot of time watching absolute shit movies and television, and some of the time I have an excuse--it's fun, it's anthropologically interesting, whatever--but a lot of the time I'm literally just deadening my senses because I'm so overloaded with depression and anxiety, and I'm not even paying attention, the TV is just ON. I don't think that's great. I don't know if I would call this "pleasure" but it is some form of indulgence.
Tattoos? A bunch! It's hard to explain but I kind of used them as a form of exposure therapy. I have struggled with some kind of phobia of doing anything that you can never change or take back, and getting tattoos helped. And I like them, I like most of mine. There's only two I'm really not crazy about, but they don't upset me that much, they have their good points too.
Fave color? Mainly red. Also orange and yellow and black. I kind of hate blue, my enjoyment of blue is highly conditional.
Fave type of music? In this phase of my life I generically prefer experimental or ambient music with no lyrics or vocals. This can span a lot of eras and genres.
Do you like puzzles? Maybe I would if I did them and I might find it therapeutic. Generally speaking I feel too stupid for them; like one thing I like about the original Resident Evil 4 is that the puzzle aspect of it is so primitive, it's almost in there just to check a box in between button-mashing violence. That's more my speed of game entertainment.
Phobias? Hm I'm afraid of lots of things, but as far as a proper phobia that's irrational: I have these fantasies of things exploding, like just shattering for no reason and being incredibly destructive. Like common household objects or whatever. And I have a lot of intrusive thoughts about people around me suddenly turning into psychotic monsters (monster can be literal or figurative) and I just can't find a rational defense reaction. But these are not true phobias in the sense of being a real, controlling force in my decision-making, I don't think they're really going to affect me. I really enjoy that thing about how trypohobia is not a real phobia because no one has to be treated for it in order to effectively navigate their life. It's just a dislike, and a pretty normal and understandable one. People on the internet have a lot of trouble telling the difference between things like phobias, moral objections, and just stuff that they don't like!
Favorite childhood sport? I was and am a total loser who can't do sports, but I guess the answer is karate. I took a year or two of that at a really great place sometime when I was 10-12, I really enjoyed the repetitive discipline of it and I was good at that kind of slow and steady, strength-based thing. I could say that I stopped because my mom was dying and that sapped my motivation, but I actually think the truth is that I was getting to the point where sparring was more a part of it, and I'm not fast or spontaneous and I don't like when people touch me, so I knew I was never going to test out of my last belt and I might not enjoy it as much as I advanced. I still think about doing another martial art, though. I think it might help me pay attention to my physical health, and get out of my head and into my body, and maybe it would also help me learn not to be so afraid of human contact. I need to pick something that's decent for people who are short and squat, though. Everyone always tells you there's no rule that says certain forms are suited to certain body types, it's all about integrity and commitment and building ability, but I really don't think that's true! (Let me know if you have opinions on this)
Talk to yourself? Yeah. Living in the city for a long time bred the habit of talking to myself like an absolute crazy person right out on the street when I'm not doing well; it's like, everyone else is acting crazy, who fucking cares! But I'll also talk to myself when I'm alone in the house just because I like words and making sounds and telling jokes. I have no problem with the stigma of talking to oneself.
Movies you adore? So many. Movies are my whole life. How do I pick, I don't know! Some recent ones I had to write about are UZUMAKI, DELICATESSEN, SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES, and DELLAMORTE DELLAMORE which might literally be my favorite movie of all time, although I have a problem with that concept.
Coffee or Tea? Mostly coffee, there's less action/decision-making involved. But I like tea also. Some of my favorites are licorice, anything with cinnamon, and also savory toasted grain teas.
1st thing you wanted to be when grew up? I wanted to be a screenwriter. I liked movies and my dad is a writer, and it just seemed obvious. But I never learned anything about the discipline of it or the professional trajectory. And I was really poisoned by the whole "you can be anything you want!" idea, I feel terrible for saying that when so many people get zero support or faith from adults in childhood, but it's true. I heard and believed that blanket statement, but I didn't have the clarity or mental toughness to specialize and understand the meaning and implications of having a goal. It was just like, oh I could be a writer, or I could be an artist, or I could be in the movies, or blah blah blah I guess one of these things will just land on my head some day. I had no fucking clue, I still don't. It's hopeless! But you wanna know what's really weird, when I was little I also had this strange fixation on being in the army--but I had zero fantasies about combat or anything exciting, it was entirely this idea about being really good at boot camp, being able to endure any form of punishment. And I had a similar concept about JAIL, I remember reading this children's photo book that explained all about prison, and I think it was just this whole fantasy about having intensely disciplined obedience and being able to endure anything! I still think I'm going to jail some day but it's just because I feel so guilty about everything. Obviously the main conclusion to be drawn from this is that I am a natural born pervert.

Advantages Of Purchasing a Good-Quality Mattress from A Reputable Furniture Store
Your complete health and well-being depend on getting a good night's sleep, which is made possible with the correct mattress. You're making an investment in your sleep quality and general quality of life when you decide to spend money on a high-grade mattress from a reputed furniture retailer. We'll explore the many advantages of getting a high-quality mattress from a reputable furniture retailer in this blog.
The primary benefit of a high-quality mattress is the substantial improvement in sleep. The ideal mattress from “factory furniture outdoors” provides the best alignment, support, and comfort, promoting pleasant sleep.
While you sleep, a high-quality mattress ensures optimal spinal alignment. This lessens back pain and lowers the possibility of musculoskeletal problems in the future.
The hallmark of a high-quality mattress is comfort. You'll have a snug and comfy sleeping surface every night if the support and cushioning are balanced properly.
When compared to less expensive options, a good-quality mattress often has a longer lifespan. This implies that you won't need a replacement for a long time after beginning to reap its benefits.
Numerous high-quality mattresses are built to withstand allergens like dust mites and mildew. For those who suffer from allergies or respiratory disorders, this is especially advantageous.
A high-quality mattress from mattress sales in MA is made to resist regular use and keep its contour over time. Your purchase will be pleasant and supportive for years because of this durability.
A high-quality mattress is designed to offer sufficient support in a range of sleeping positions. This makes sure that whether you sleep on your back, side, or stomach, you are well supported.

Factory One Thrift and Bubble Tea Store
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one time bicycle factory was converted into a designer outlet store in the 90's. The big brands finally moved out. making room for smaller retailers.
These days Factory One is a popular teen hang out, it's the place to see and be seen (just ask The Paragons). Upstairs you'll find a thrift store and a trendy boutique, downstairs there's an internet café, bubble tea stall, and a Chinese food stall. Local aspiring entertainers can take to the stage to entertain the crowds, because here every night is open mic night.
If you'd like to add my build to your game it's on the gallery, my ID is simmer-rhi - check to include CC.
CC: I wanted to make this build cc free, but I caved and used taller height Moschino doors, nothing else gave me the look I wanted!! illogicalsims door
I'd also recommend using littlemsams Auto Employee mod to get full functionality of the three stalls.

The Giant Playmate Igloo Cooler is a unique roadside attraction located near Katy, Texas, specifically at the Igloo Products Corporation factory.
This oversized cooler serves a dual purpose: it functions as a guard shack for the factory and is a quirky landmark for visitors traveling along I-10.
Structure and Function**: The cooler has been creatively repurposed as a security guard house at the Igloo factory.
It has even been equipped with an HVAC system to combat the East Texas heat and humidity.
Outlet Store: Visitors can also explore a factory outlet store nearby, although some have noted that it may be smaller than expected given the size of the headquarters.
Accessibility: The location is convenient for travelers, making it a fun and quick pit stop. However, it's worth noting that the outlet store is closed on Sundays.
The Giant Playmate Igloo Cooler is not just a functional structure; it represents a piece of Americana, particularly in the context of Igloo's long-standing history in cooler manufacturing.
The Playmate cooler itself, often referred to as "America's Lunchbox," has been a staple since its engineering in 1971.
The factory in Katy continues to innovate, recently introducing eco-friendly coolers made from recycled materials.
If you're in the Katy area, the Giant Playmate Igloo Cooler is a delightful and unusual stop that combines a bit of local history with a fun photo opportunity. Whether you're a fan of quirky roadside attractions or just passing through, it's worth a visit!

I saw someone that just said they shop fast fashion because they're poor but said they stop mostly at factory outlet stores...
baby you're literally saving clothing from landfills. don't let anyone guilt you for that. also people judging people for shopping at like shein are judging the people that buy $1,000 hauls and post them online. (unless they're just bandwagoners who actually think everyone can afford ethically made clothing)
the people that actually care about fast fashion and shit don't shame people buying 1 $17.99 blouse because they need to clothe themselves at work to feed themselves and can't afford a $45 blouse that's seam will rip in 2 wears from target and need to be replaced.
also if you're buying a piece of fast fashion and WEARING IT UNTIL IT WEARS OUT that's way more okay than buying a $200 shirt that you wear until it's out of style.
